synopsis: the dreamies during a night of drinking somehow end up talking about their exes, revealing the different types of relationships and exes they have or had.

a/n: this has been long been in my drafts so Jisung was still a minor here, thus I didn’t give him any drinks lmao. Enjoy! btw, I’m still deciding if I should make Haechan’s backstory for this, or if the markHyuck one should do…

The boys have arrived, piling into Chenle’s condominium that was set up just to have their long awaited guys night. They planned this weeks prior, promising each other that after their finals they’d set aside time to drink away their thoughts and release any stress they have that built up.

By 10:50 bottles have been popped and cups have been poured, the boys sat in the balcony to feel the cool air of the city night.

“You guys really aren’t sharing?” Jisung watches as the older boys raise their glasses in celebration.

“You wait a few more months, sir,” Mark sets his glass down and pats the younger boy on the shoulder. Guy nights wouldn’t be complete without Jisung, even if he wasn’t allowed to drink yet. He never minded sitting in the living room, playing with Chenle’s console with Jaemin and then later on laughing at his older friends’ shenanigans once the alcohol hit them.

Renjun isn’t quite the drinker, but Haechan made him a bet and unfortunately, he lost. Being an art major wasn’t easy, he knew he had a few more things to finish before his semester ended but with that, Renjun drank to forget.

Besides his plates, he had nothing else to worry about. He’d been getting emails from companies waiting for him to graduate, a family happy to support him, but surprisingly, the boy lacked in the love department.

His previous relationships, only being flings and one night stands, none of them really ever stayed after the cuddles. Except… a particular someone.

On the opposite side of him sat Jeno, who was watching his friends in amusement. Now, Jeno has a high alcohol tolerance. Although he becomes chatty, and starts to excessively clean his surroundings, he takes care of his friends well. Usually he’s the one who tucks them into bed or prevents anything like drunk driving and some other stupid shit to happen.

Jeno the architectural major was the responsible friend in a night out. The single friend who starts playing the guitar to set the mood when 2am rolls in. And, the single friend with the broken heart, which hasn’t quite mended yet even after three years.

Haechan on the other hand, is a messy drunk but handles his alcohol well until the 2nd bottle. The boy has a lot going on in his mind, and was the first to initiate the plan to drink.

His phone rings, but Haechan dismisses it, tapping the red decline button and watching as the screen faded into black. Mark follows his eyes and hesitantly brings it up.

“Aren’t you going to talk to her?”

Haechan only shakes his head before taking another swig. Everyone knows well enough about Haechan and his girlfriend’s on and off relationship. They break up, make up, fight and the cycle repeats.

Mark’s adam’s apple bobs as he asks another question. “Why don’t you just break up? Y’know… for good?”

The boys around them seem to have noticed the tension that built up and had their eyes fixed on the pair.

“I don’t know, man,” Haechan is too drunk to think about Mark’s question. Too drunk to realize how Mark completely sold himself off to be in love with him with that one question. It wasn’t a big secret, especially since Mark has done a poor job in hiding it, but apparently not bad enough for Haechan to see. Everyone knew, except for the clueless boy.

Jaemin was too busy babysitting Chenle, who was having his first drink tonight, to even have shots of his own. He didn’t like drinking, anyway, and used Chenle as an excuse to keep sober.

Jaemin the medical student naturally tells his friends to lay off the alcohol, as it can damage their liver. He can only do so much though, as the others tend to be hard-headed and stubborn.

“I can handle myself!” Chenle protests, reaching for his glass which Jaemin took away. “You’re supposed to drink, eat a lot then drink again,” Jaemin explains. “You’ve only taken drinks so far, you’ll be knocked out in an hour if you keep this up,” He tells Chenle.

Of course, Jaemin knew his way around drinking. He just didn’t enjoy it, doesn’t like the bitter taste of it. Didn’t like how it made him think of his past either. Jaemin’s cup remains half full, and he uses this tactic to not get refills.

It keeps him away from his phone, sober enough to know better than to drunk text her. Even if her presence was all he yearned for at a night like this.

Jaemin x Reader – By My Side

As the night gets deeper, so do the conversations between the close friends. Just like Jaemin predicted, Chenle had his head down on the table already, passed out.

“Jeno, you know what to do,” Jaemin nodded his head, signaling the boy beside him. Jeno gave him his smile, which now looked more drowsy and silly because of his tipsy state.

Jeno lifts Chenle easily, with Jaemin assisting him, leaving the three boys on the table.

“I want ____. Where is she?” Chenle had his eyes closed, mumbling to his friends. Jaemin and Jeno exchanged looks and laughed at the younger.

Poor boy, had a ton of expectations to meet he couldn’t even date around.

Chenle’s main priority had to be his family, and their business. He couldn’t afford any distractions, but to him, she was more than that. She was his driving force, and it hurt the boy to be keeping her a secret. Only the boys knew about his secret relationship, if word got out that Zhong Chenle the son of the most well-respected corporate business owner was dating, it would be the entirety of Shanghai talking about it.

As much as he wanted nothing more than to show the world and tell everyone who he’s in love with, he knew she wasn’t ready to face it all and step into that kind of light yet.

Chenle x Reader – In The Limelight

While the two boys took Chenle into his room, it left the three boys and Haechan’s buzzing phone out in the cold night air that the terrace provided.

“What happened this time?” Renjun asks, in line with the phone that’s close to annoying the hell out of him if it doesn’t stop vibrating the entire table. Haechan had his head down, and he lets out a laugh. Humorless, just cold.

“I don’t get her. She wants me, then the next second she doesn’t,”

When the boy lifts his head, it’s made obvious of all the pain he’s been hiding. His eyes, teary and sullen. Renjun couldn’t help but laugh at his friend’s face, clapping his hands and throwing his head back in laughter. “Aw, c’mon man! It’s only 12am,”

This, however, doesn’t humor Mark the same way. Seeing Haechan in pain was like a bullet through his heart. He gave the boy a pat on the back and watches as his head fall once again. Mark swears he saw a tear fall too.

“I’m not just an object you can set aside, then use when needed,” Haechan continues to wail. Although he was already drunk, Mark felt that Haechan’s words were the most sober when he wasn’t.

As for Mark, the literature major didn’t care much about alcohol. However, it did get his creative juices flowing. Most of Mark’s best written pieces were done when he couldn’t even remember writing them.

During blurry nights intoxicated in alcohol, Mark’s thoughts flow easily through him and onto the sheets of paper that lie around his room. Sometimes, he’ll drink on a school night to get an essay finished for it’s due date the next day.

But seeing as he had no pending things to write, Mark drank for the sake of trying to numb himself somehow. Although it didn’t work well when the person he’s trying to get his mind off of is sat right beside him, thinking of someone else.

Mark x Haechan – Always, I’ll Care

When Jaemin and Jeno came back, Jeno was already carrying a guitar. He strums it softly to a random tune he came up with on the spot. Haechan, of course, was singing along. Throwing in words like ‘baby’ and murmuring a few words about love. By now, Renjun’s cheeks were pink and a few hiccups had already escaped him.

“Do you remember that girl Jeno dated second semester of senior year?” he says, out of the blue.

The boys need not ask who, as they all knew who Renjun was referring to. The group of boys burst into fits of laughter and the guitar takes an abrupt stop as its player shoots his friends a nasty look for bringing up his past unprovoked.

“You were smitten, bro,” Mark smacks Jeno’s shoulder as he giggles.

Jeno daggers his eyes to Renjun, who has his head thrown back, laughing.

“How about you, huh? What was her name? _____-“ Jeno begins his avengement by mentioning the name he knew would get back at Renjun. He gets cut off shortly.

“I’ll stop you right there, sir,” Renjun places a hand over Jeno’s mouth before he could speak the name.

“C’mon, how many years has that been though?” Jeno asks after getting the boy’s hand off of his mouth.

“Two, and what about it?” Renjun defensively counters, surprising the other boys.

“He knows! Wow, do you keep count?” Jaemin chuckles, amusement all over his face.

“Shut up, ____ ,” Renjun points a finger at the male, mentioning the name of Jaemin’s past lover. Jaemin’s jaw drops and he crosses his arms,

“That was low,” The corner of his lips tugged into a smile nonetheless.

“C’mon, guys. It’s not like we’re releasing bad omens talking about our exes,” Haechan tugs on Renjun to sit him back down.

“Easy for you to say, you’ve only had one ex and she’s your girlfriend,” Renjun huffs. No one dared to speak the name of Renjun’s ex around him aside from people who have balls like Jeno, Jaemin, Haechan and Mark.

It wasn’t because he was bitter about her. But try as he might, there was a feeling within him that says she’s the one. Or she was. And Renjun was stuck, thinking about all the what if’s. Even after 2 years.

“I see things are getting heated over here,” Jisung stood by the door to the balcony now, with a sly smirk on his face.

“Ah right, let’s talk about mister lover boy over here,” Jeno motioned to the younger boy, who surprisingly is the only one to have a love life at the moment.

Jisung was courting the student body president. He could not, however, get her to answer him, but the boy never gives up.

“You must have some balls to hit on your senior,” Jaemin comments. The student body president was in fact two years older than Jisung, but the boy was determined.

“Oh yeah? And how does having half the school pine over you not count as doing well?” Jaemin lightly nudges his friend.

“Because the one I love, is in someone else’s arms right now,”

And cue the exaggerated crying and wailing of his friends, who’d given him sympathetic pats on the back.

“Oh, man,” grumbled Haechan, clearly already very intoxicated. He placed his head between his hands to try and stop his world from spinning. “I got to go to her, I have to say sorry,”

The boys all averted their eyes to the boy who looks to be having his spiritual awakening.

Mark’s heart dropped upon hearing Haechan’s words. He looked down at his hands and sighed. It wouldn’t be the first time Haechan had a sudden realization and wanted to be in his girlfriend’s arms right then and there.

It usually happened when he was smashed drunk, after the 7th or 8th cup. Asking his mates to take him home and running into the arms of his girl.

Mark didn’t know why he wasn’t used to it at this point. It isn’t and never will be him.

“No way,” Jaemin tutted. “You gathered us all here to drink and bothered us for weeks then you’ll flake midway? I don’t think so,” The other boys agreed.

Renjun stretched his arms and fell back onto the chair he sat on. “What’s with the sudden change of atmosphere anyway? It’s like we did release bad omens when we spoke about our exes,”

“You just had to bring ____ up!” Jeno threw a fry at his friend, who was the first to mention his ex and start the discussion. Renjun caught the fry in his mouth, surprising the boys and himself.

“Let’s just drink up,” Renjun raises his glass in the air, although it’s half empty.

“Nice try, here have a refill. We’re all taking equal shots,” Mark had risen and was now reaching for the bottle of beer to pour his friend’s glass.

“To… I don’t know- fuck! To getting fucked up!” Haechan yelled, raising his glass in the air.

The rest of the boys do the same, clinking glasses together and downing it mercilessly to their livers.

Relationships come and go, but the dreamies are always here to stay.

Foresight ~ ch. 2

A/N : hello hi howdy, here’s ch. 2, let me know what y’all think!!

ch. 1

All you could do was weakly nod and follow the large mass of muscle through the crowd with Maggie attached to your arm. He swiped his keycard on a door and led you through a hallway, where you heard voices becoming louder and louder.

Fuck me.

Maggie gave you a reassuring squeeze as the guard knocked and then opened the door, pushing both of you inside and closing it. 

There they were, the band members all scattered on different chairs, a few others in all-black outfits with clipboards and headsets, and then, Harry Styles, sparkly jacket discarded on the chair next to him in the dressing room and stressfully running his hands through his sweaty hair. All his rings were placed on the table as though they had continuously snagged his hair and he got frustrated.

The room seemed to go dead silent when you entered.

Then, Harry spoke.

“How in the world did you know those songs.” 

You swallowed, “I’m so sorry I—“ the whole room erupted with loud shouts, people whipping out laptops and typing faster than you’d every seen before.

A large man came storming up to you, “Where did you leak it, or where did you find it? These songs are worth a lot more than you miss, so I suggest you speak very quickly so this doesn’t cause more of a problem than it is right now.”

You opened your mouth to continue, but was cut off by a scream across the room, “—what do you mean you can’t find the leaked file?! There has to be one! Look again!” 

You tried to butt in, “Please this is all a misunderstanding—“ “Just tell us which server you found the songs on!” “Please sir I—“ “Enough with the babbling! Just tell me—“

A large smack quieted the room, you turned around to see Maggie with the door handle in her hand. She must have slammed the door open and shut.

“Will you please let her speak?” She huffed. You had never been prouder to have Maggie as your friend.

You turned back to all the awaiting people squirming in their spots. 

 “There is no leak whatsoever anywhere online or physical.” 

A few people let out breaths of relief, but Harry spoke up again, this time walking closer toward you.

“But how did you know the songs?” You rubbed the back of your neck and squeezed your eyes shut, “This is going to sound ridiculous but, I’m psychic.”

A couple scoffs were let out and the man that had been previously screaming in your face said, “And you think we’re supposed to believe that?”

 “She’s telling the truth,” Maggie spoke up, “She’s been able to know things before others do all her life.”

“Prove it.” You and Harry spoke at the same time. You looked him dead in the eye as he continued, “How am I supposed to be 1000 percent certain you’re telling the full truth?” You said at the exact same time he did.

Now people were intrigued, “As I have your attention, I’d like you to know that I’m very sorry about the whole songs thing. It’s just sometimes I say things subconsciously and can’t register if I should know it already or not—plus the vodka I’d been drinking before didn’t help either.”

You continued, “I only know the songs because the melody had been stuck in my head recently and I guess maybe down the line your fans will figure out your blanks in the song. I only sang ‘tasted’ and ‘ride it’ because I can only predict that’s what they’re going to come up with soon. And apparently, they sing it for you since you don’t.” 

Harry’s manager, whose badge read, AZOFF, clapped him on the shoulder with a grin hanging off his face, “Man Styles, your fans are really something.”

That seemed to release the tension in the room. Mr. Azoff told everyone the crisis was averted and people scattered from the room except the band. “I’ll catch you tomorrow Harry, good show tonight.” His manager said as he left the room.

Once the door shut, a dark-haired woman came bounding over to you, “Hey Sarah.” You smiled at her and she seemed to be in awe, “You’re like a superhero!” You scrunched your nose at her declaration, “I don’t think of it that way, more like lucky guesses.” “Lucky guesses! Psh! You knew the George Michael bit of Anna, and we just put that in. You are magical.” Mitch exclaimed for his seat on the couch.

“So now what?” Maggie asked, sitting on the edge of the couch. You looked back to the British rockstar, he smiled and dramatically put his hand out to you.

Hesitantly, you slid your hand into his. “Ms.—” “Y/N” “—Ms. Y/N, will you do me the gracious honor of accepting my apology for believing something so terrible of you.” 

A couple snickers were heard from the band, and Maggie as well. You rolled your eyes at his tactics, for a super celebrity, he’s still a huge dork. “Of course I will, I totally understand what a disaster it would be to have something leaked.”

You both turned your heads to the door, where a woman with a camera stood taking a picture of your hands together. “Hey, are you the psychic people are chatting about?” 

You let go of Harry’s hand as she snapped another picture, “Yes I am, my name is Y/N.”

The photographer came inside the door and slung the camera strap over her shoulder. “Lovely to meet you, but Harry and co, its time for the post-concert shot and I want to do it on the stage before they shut down the lights.”

 Harry’s head perked up at her request and the band members got up to leave. He slipped his rings back on quickly as well before exiting.

Maggie got up from the couch and everyone headed out back to the stage. You both wandered behind them, not really know if you could leave or not. “What are we supposed to do now?” She whispered. 

You shrugged your shoulders as you walked to the side of the stage and watched the talented musicians link up to take a farewell photo. It made you smile, they each seemed truly happy in each other’s company.

As everyone left the stage to finally retire to their respective rooms for the night, Harry walked over to you, with a bit of strut in his step?

“Did you wan’ a photo or somthin’?” He asked with a cheeky smile. You rolled your eyes at the narcissism, “I’ve already got a picture of you to post on my phone, thanks though.”

Now it was your turn to wear a cheeky smile, the man seemed taken back by your denial and Mags, on the other hand, was beyond herself with disbelief. 

“Well, if you’re not gonna take a picture with him, I sure as hell am!” Shoving her phone into your hand, she pulled the much taller man in for a hug and smiled at the camera.

You smiled at the picture and gave the two a thumbs up. You glanced at the time and your eyes went wide. “Oh god, Mags we gotta go! It’s almost 12am.” You put your hand out to shake his, “It was great to meet you but we have to leave, got a train to catch early in the morning.” 

“Where are you girls headed off to?”

Maggie gave a little dance, “Paris baby! I’m so fucking excited to see the Eiffel tower again!” Both of you chuckled at her response. He turned to look back at you, “What a coincidence, I’ll be performing there the night after tomorrow. Are you sure you’re not following me?”

“Sorry to burst your bubble superstar, but that’s not the case. This is our spring break trip and miraculously Maggie’s father got last minute tickets from a colleague that couldn’t use them. That’s why we’re here right now.”

“It was lovely seeing you perform, you really know how to use a stage.” You continued. “Yeah! You really did look like sex during Caroli—” 

Shit, maybe Maggie isn’t as sober as I hoped, you thought as you immediately put your hand over her mouth. 

“Ha ha, um, so ya on that note, we’re gonna go. Bye Harry.” He chuckled as you pulled Maggie away who now realized what she had spilled out.

“Bye Y/N.”

It was already 1am and Harry had just settled into bed for the night, he grabbed his phone that had lit up from the notification.

Harry opened the email Hélène sent him.

“Okay, the timer is a go!” 

Maggie ran back over to where you were next to the ledge of the bridge, her ponytail bouncing with each step.

 Paris was beautiful at night, and even more so, the Eiffel Tower that was lit up in front of you. You both faced the iconic monument and waited a second for the timer to take the photo.

Mags went over to grab your phone, “It’s perfect, we are such fashion icons. Even Anna Wintour would be proud.”

You looped your arm with Maggie’s and you headed off to site see some more. You posted the picture while you window-shopped, stopping a couple times to look at certain items before venturing on. 

“What’s on the agenda for tomorrow Mags?” You asked as you both entered the hotel lobby, finished with your escapades. 

 “Well, we should see if the Louvre will even be a possibility—“ “It won’t be.” “—oh, too many tourists tomorrow?” She questioned. 

“No, a child will throw up on the entry door and close it down for a couple hours for cleaning.” You answered, swiping the key into your hotel door.

 Maggie toed her shoes off and opened the bathroom door, “It’s great traveling with someone that knows if things could go to shit or not.” You cracked a smile and went to sit down on your bed opposite hers. 

As you changed into pjs, your phone started blowing up with so many notifications that it was slowly moving off the nightstand. 

“Woo’s cawling yoow at tis time?” Maggie asked with a mouth full of toothpaste. 

“They’re not calls,” you answered, picking up your phone. 

“It’s notifications on Instagram.” 

“Huh?” Maggie came over and sat down to read over your shoulder.

Hundreds of comments rolled in on your phone, you checked Instagram and gasped. 

“Maggie I have about 3000 new followers what’s going on?” The brunette leaped up to grab her phone and scroll through with you.

“Oh my god, Y/N, it looks like there are videos of you singing at the show going viral!” “What! Why did I not see this beforehand?!”

“I don’t know but these speculators are growing in size, should we contact the Harry Style’s headquarters account? People are already coming up with crazy theories and I’ve only been to one fan account.”

You watched with wide eyes as more people filled your Instagram posts with comments and questions, “Do I go on private?!” 

“No!” Maggie nearly shouted, “You can’t do anything that would raise suspicions even more, people already have screenshots of your posts it wouldn’t matter anyway.” Email coming through!

1 New Email: Jeffery Azoff

“Mags, I just got an email from Harry’s manager.” 

You said with a shaky voice, “What are you waiting around for, open it!” 

You clicked the message.

Dear Ms. L/N

Due to a social media outbreak, I would like to meet with you tomorrow before the concert to discuss how to further proceed in light of recent events. Please come by at 1pm, attached is the pass to show security and address of the arena.

Jeffery Azoff

“He wants me to come by before the Paris show! To talk about what’s happening.” She nodded approvingly, “See, the professionals will handle it. Y/N don’t worry, everything will be fine.”

There you were, 1pm sharp with Maggie by your side as you showed the electronic pass to the guard at the door of the center.

You had to squeeze through the line of already awaiting fans which made you feel really guilty as you felt their envious stares on the back of your head as the guard like you in. 

You opted to wear something that was not your Ramones t-shirt and funny enough, you seemed to see an increase in that particular band attire as you made your way through the crowd.

You had on your trusty high waisted blue jeans and a thin black semi turtle neck with shiny black booties for height. Maggie dressed down as well, going with a long sleeve red dress and brown thigh highs. 

Once you both wove your way through the maze that was the backstage, you arrived at B34, the room Mr. Azoff asked you to meet him.

Here goes nothing.

You opened the door and were greeted with Jeff, a few other crew members and—

“ ‘ello Y/N, a pleasure to see yeh again.” 

Harry Styles sat in a chair at the table in sweats and a pink sweatshirt that said ‘fuck I’m cute’ in cursive.

“Come please seat down, we don’t have that much time and I would like to patch things up quickly before the show so that Harry here doesn’t get bombard with shouts about our lovely Ramones Girl.” His manager said.

Well, that made you blush a dark shade of red, you sat down and Maggie sat next to you on the right, giving your hand a quick squeeze before pulling away.

Mr. Azoff rested his head on his arm that was propped up on the table, “So not to beat around the bush, the stats for this ‘new story’ are growing and quickly, E!News has already tweeted out the #ramonesgirl this morning and Teen Vogue liked a post on one of harry’s more dedicated fan pages stylesinlove that has pretty clear video and audio of seeing you and your singing.” 

He pushed the computer toward you, “These are a couple of postings you could put up on your feed if you’d like to clear up confusion or,” he paused for a moment and you leaned forward into his hesitation.

“Or what?” You simply asked, curious beyond belief.

“You could simply tour with Harry for a few more shows and make a comment or two for some fan pages that you’ve just been a fantastic friend of Harry’s for a while and already knew the songs since he had shared them with you beforehand.” 

You turned to Harry would hadn’t spoken up the whole time, “And you’re okay with that? It’s kind of a big deal to say I’m one of the people you shared unreleased music with.” 

He shrugged his shoulders, “I mean, can’t very well tell them you’re a psychic, can we? That would be hard to explain to the press.”

You leaned back into the chair with the realization that this seemed to be the only way unless you wanted to show the world your sorta abilities.

What about Maggie?

“What do you think?” You turned to your friend.

She put her arms behind her head and smiled, “hey, I’ve got to go back to uni two days but honestly Y/N you could just transfer the two classes you’re taking to online and have a blast with Mr. Worldwide over here.” 

She gestured to Harry who was smiling into his hand, “I think it’s an opportunity you should not pass up. But you better call me every once in a while okay?!”

You took a deep breath and turned to Jeff.

 “I’m in.”

Sure enough, at 3am, I wake up and find Mint outside my door, vibing in his car. I shake my head and lock the door.

My hand reaches into my backpack and I pull out a scrapbook.

“What?”

“A collection of all the photos we have together with little commentary along the way. This is now yours” I beam.

“I didn’t even get you anything like his I-”

“You don’t need to”

He snickers and hands me a small box.

“I found it while shopping online, and it reminded me of that one time A gave you a rainbow rose so I figured I would give you an eternal one”

I stare at the rose. It’s rainbow, and I was surprised he even remembered that his brother had given me one.  I tear up slightly, maybe its because I wasn’t used to getting gifts from him, or the sudden change of heart but I mean-

My hands clink at the glass softly, and Mint hums in appreciation as he flips through the scrapbook.

“Where’s this photo from?”

“Hm?”  He points at a photo where both he and his brother are jumping on the trampoline while I’m sitting.

“Your mom sent it to my mom a few years back”

“Ah”

There’s a comfortable silence that passes over us, and I decide to answer all the texts that I had received about my birthday while he flipped through the book.

After about a dozen thank you!’s and 4 conversations, I finish. Mint snickers when he flips to the last page.

“You just had to put that one last huh?”

On the last page lies Mint and I at Junior prom last year. It was a tradition to go with eachother, and my friend had taken a photo where we were pretending to make out.

”Why? Don’t want your future wife seeing it?”

“No. It’s just you saved the best for last” he snorts.

“Of course” I hum.

“Alright what do you want from McDonalds?”

“Ice cream”

“You’re literally bleeding this week no”

“Uhhh. Fries?”

“Sure”

Mint starts his car and we head off. The sky is a calm blue. A dark shade that leaves you wondering if there’s more out there. It was ironic that I had met him so long ago. It was even more surprising when he moved here for junior and senior year. I was horribly confused, and the only explanation he could muster out was a job change for his parents. But I was pretty sure they just wanted to have A mature in a different environment.

“Lost in thought again?”

“Mhm. You never told me how and why you moved here in detail”

“Nothing really. It was a job change on my parents part, and a new path for A”

“I wanted to chase the only person who never gave up on me”

HE pulls up at the McDonalds drive-through and I scream.

“dEAR ARE YOU ALIVE?”

“OMG HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING! EVERYTHING’S ON ME TODAY”

“NO OBJECTIONS. IS MINT WITH YOU?”

“I’m here”

“Happy birthday Mint darling anyways what do you guys want?”

“The usual”

“Nothing new?”

“Nope”

“Alright! See you at the second window!”

“Cressie darling I got you a gift!”

“I- what?”

“Gift.” He tosses something through the car window and it lands in my hands.

“What is it?”

“Check”

I click open the box and I find a small pendant with a moon.

“I thought you were a broke high school student?”

“But the boss gave me a raise and told me to get something nice for my lover and like I don’t have one so I mean-”

“I don’t deserve you” I sniff.

“Stop crying darling you’re scaring me”

I really hope you find yourself a lover this year or I will fight everyone around me I SWEAR”

“You’re being too loud again Cress”

“Sorry”

He hands us our food and waves us goodbye. It was funny to me. I had so many friends around me now that I had grown.

“Are you gonna make a birthday post?”

“Oh for Serenity!” I gasp.

I type away and Mint steals a couple fries from me. I hiss at him while typing.

“Too bad” he shrugs.

School rolls around and I ‘m met with 20 happy birthdays and a couple gifts fro my other friends. Surprise surprise I have other friends. Z and Sun’s gift surprises me the most.

“Cress” Sun calls for me after school.

“Hm?”

“Happy birthday” He hands a medium-sized box to me.

“You always make us scrapbooks for our birthdays so I thought I’d try to make one for you”

“Have I ever told you how much I love you-”

“You remind me pretty often but yeah”

I open the box and a seat little scrapbook sits inside. There’s a white pen, a silver one, and a gold pen rolling around next to it, and there’s a small letter. Z tackles me from behind and I crash into Sun’s chest.

“Z what the f-”

“Language” Sun glares.

“Your gift!” Z hands me a small photo sized box.

“Photos?”

“You made a whole batch with notes on the back for me so I decided to print a bunch for you!”

“Thank you Z” I sniff slightly.

“What’s wrong! Do you not like it?”

“No no! I’m emotional haha” I muster up a smile. My cursed birthday luck was gonna catch up with me soon. I just felt it.

“No worries! It was the least I could do” Z smiles.

I nod in response. The rest of the day carries out like normal, and I find myself tired by the end of the day. My classmates threw me a party, and at the end of the day, my friends threw me another one. I enjoyed it, but I was waiting for my cursed birthday luck to catch up to me, I could never be happy until it occurred.

“If you’re thinking about that birthday curse of yours again, I’d advise you to know that with me, there’s no chance of having bad birthday luck” Mint hums. His birthdays had no bad things. It was like the universe favored him.

“I know. But I can’t truly calm down until I get to bed”

There’s a comfortable silence that settles down before Mint speaks up again.

“I’m sorry”

“Why so?”

“You had always wished me happy birthday so consistently, and I never replied and I just feel really bad and all-”

“Don’t worry about it.” I tap at the red solo cup in my hand. “I probably deserved all that”

“You don’t and that’s why I kind of. Um”

“Mint you’re my editor what did you do-”

“Bought tickets back home?” I gape at him. My jaw is dropped, and he seems to panic. “My home’s open and all! I know your house is rented out and the renters for my place just moved out and we have thanksgiving in a month so I figured I would take you back for the break and I’m sorry! I probably should’ve asked first and all but-”

A choked sob escapes my lips. I’m shocked, I hadn’t gone home in so long. How did he know? A stream of incoherent words escapes my lips and Mint tries to soothe me.

“You know.” I managed to force it out. “Some days I question why I stopped crushing on you. You spoil me rotten, and I don’t even deserve someone who cares for me and knows me like you and you always seem to know how I’m feeling and-”

Mint rubs soft circles on my back, and I let out my emotions. My birthday curse wasn’t a curse. It was a tradition. A tradition to cry at least once on my birthday, and for the first time, I was crying tears of joy. A couple minutes pass, and I feel my emotions slowly draw back.

“Thank you” I mumbled weakly.

Chapter 4

Pairing: Jungkook x reader, Taehyung x reader,  eventual Ot7 x reader in later chapters

Theme: Based kinda on sword art online a lot of similar ideas and themes kinda combining the idea of them trapped in the game, but the world is closer to ALFheim online

‘You weren’t sure if you liked this Jungkook you were seeing now, but you couldn’t fully blame him for the drastic switch, people can change when they are thrown into survival mode, and this...was now life and death.’

Jungkook had quickly led you and his friend/room mate Taehyung out of the town square.  Not really leaving you time to get acquainted with the new traveling companion but it was understandable.

Once you reached the edge of the town which led to an empty field Jungkook turned around to look at you. “Crash course in flying. Now that we are out here, this is going to be the quickest way to travel. I want us to get to the next town as fast as possible so we can snag up all the good items and stuff okay?”

You nodded.

He looked to Taehyung, “You’ve learned flying already right?”

Taehyung nodded, his face devoid of emotions standing stiffly and awkwardly.  He’s definitely still in shock, you all are in some sort of way.  Jungkook was handling his fear by jumping into the leader position, you were handling yours by trying not to think too hard on anything and just go with it...so maybe you were in a state of denial?

Jungkook showed you how to do a hand signal in the air that summoned some sort of joystick controller in your hand, and explained the logistics of flight.  It was actually fairly simply, the downside was at your low level you had a very limited amount of energy you were allowed to use to fly.  So every 15 minutes or so you would need to land and recharge before your wings gave out on you.  

The three of you took off, not saying a word, letting Jungkook lead the way.

You wanted to be blown away by the fact that you were flying, you wanted to feel the rush of the wind and excitement of your feet leaving the ground for the first time, and trailing behind you as your wings carried you forward.

But you were numb.  You thought about your home, your job, Tiger, Velvet… At that last thought you almost burst into tears.   ‘I hope mom saw the news and comes to check on me, I hope she feeds them and takes care of them if I....’ you have to try to hold back your tears so you could see in front of you as you flew, ‘if I die…’ your thought finished itself.

Jungkook landed in a small clearing in the woods you had been flying over.  You followed down, grateful he had remembered you were nearing the end of your allowed flight time, because you had already forgotten.

After many repeated starts and stops, you could see on the corner of your screen a clock read 3:00 am.  Wow, you had been flying a long time.  Occasionally when you stopped Jungkook had scanned the area to see if there was any good loot or creatures to get some experience points from, and there was some a few times.  You took turns getting the final kill so you could evenly spread out the points and drop items, all of you leveling up 2 times each so far on your journey.  Taehyung still remaining quiet even then.  

You finally heard him speak for the first time since you’d left the town “Jungkook can we please stop and rest.” He pleaded softly towards the man leading your flight.

Jungkook nodded and descended down into the woods below.  You realized you were starting to feel some aches and pains from all of the flying and fighting.  That jolted something in you and you felt your stomach drop for probably the millionth time today.  Previously, you couldn’t feel pain in the game, but that must’ve changed as the game maker said it would, making the horror of the new reality you were living in so much more...real.

When you all had landed your team searched around and found a cave.  Jungkook entered first using his night vision to scope out potential threats in the darkness. When he had yelled out the all clear, Taehyung, then you, followed into the cave. The glow from your screens giving you just barely enough light so you could see where you were going.

“What I wouldn’t give to have picked fire fairy right now” Taehyung groaned as he slumped against the one of the cold cave walls.

Jungkook thought hard for a second and took a rock from the floor and held it in his hand.  He went into his menu and did something you couldn’t quite see.  

Suddenly the rock in his hand was transformed into a glowing torch.  He smiled slightly, as excited as one could be while facing the current horrors you all were.  “Illusion magic…” He explained “I just bought a transformation spell that should come in handy for things like this, it’s a novice one so it probably won't last long but if I stick it in the ground we can gather around it for a while and get some of the heat and light.”

You smiled, grateful for his brilliant knowledge of this game.  He really had done his research before coming here.

Taehyung, Jungkook and yourself gathered around the torch trying to soak up as much heat as you could. The silence in this small circle was deafening.  The three of you mulling over the events of the day in your mind.   “I…” you break the silence, “I think maybe we should get to know each other a little better, It might make getting through this easier on me...mentally that is”

If only your mom could see you now, initiating a conversation with two people you’d only just met today, being the one to actually ask for information on their personal lives.  You don’t even know this person you are right now.  Thinking about how Jungkook changed when this all started, you realize its changing you as well.

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense, we are going to be spending a lot of time together from here on out, who knows how long until they arrest this guy holding the strings, or if they even will at all.” He trailed off then made eye contact with you, his dark eyes glowing, with the flame of the torch reflecting on them warmly.  “As you heard Taehyung say a few times my name is Jungkook, it's only fair now I know your real name right?”

A small smile formed on your lips, maybe the first genuine one you’d had tonight since the news.  “Y/N”

“Y/N huh?” Jungkook smiles back, “It suits you” you felt warmth in your chest at his words, and shyly changed the subject.

“So...I’ll ask the next question, what do you guys do for a living...back in the real world?”

Taehyung actually is the one to speak first, “I’m pretty boring, I’m an accountant and have been for a couple years now, the pay isn’t bad, so I can afford to invest in my hobbies and stuff, I like art and photography”

You were happy to hear some info on the mysterious man that had joined you earlier in the evening.  His face started out expressionless but you could see his eyes light up as he mentioned his hobbies, it reminded you slightly of how excited Jungkook had been that afternoon when explaining the details of the game to you.

“I work from home doing independent graphic design for businesses, boring stuff too I suppose, but I enjoy it” you wink at Taehyung “like business cards and things like that, so if you ever need one you know who to come to” You grinned pointing a thumb to your chest.  

“Wait til you hear what he does for a living” Taehyung’s face got colder again and actually seemed to have a slight hint of resentment in his tone.

“No. Shut it.” Jungkook snapped “I’m good on that one.” he looked away from you and over to the entrance of the cave, avoiding your confused expression

Taehyung’s eyes widened “Wait… you really aren’t going to tell her? Don’t you think she should know? It’s kinda relevant to…” He was then quickly cut off

“I said shut it. Leave it alone Tae” He glared dagger eyes at the green haired man across the fire from him.

His sharp words to Taehyung shocked and baffled you.  You hadn’t expected this to be such a touchy subject when you brought it up.  “Sorry..” You mumbled “I didn’t mean to pry too much”

Jungkook looked your way guiltily, wincing at your hurt expression.  “No, no, I’m sorry, I’d just rather it not be talked about right now okay?”

You nodded still feeling like the whole thing was suspicious.

“Sure” you looked to Taehyung now wanting to change the subject quickly “I believe it’s your turn to ask something”

“Oh alright” then he thought for a while.

You watched him as he thought and wondered what type of man he was. From your first impressions so far he seemed odd yet intriguing, similar to Jungkook in some ways but also very different, kind of quirky and quiet.

 You had a feeling he’d be the type to try and cheer a friend up on a bad day by doing a goofy dance, but then also letting them cry and pour their heart out as long as they needed.  He seemed soft and warm, and all of that was your impression of him after this whole horror was discovered.  

Jungkook on the other hand, most of your first impressions of him were erased by the tragedy that befell you all.  If you had just met him now, you wouldn’t think of him as friendly or warm.  Charming still...but not in the same way, it was in a way that slightly frightened you.  Though you knew he was doing what was necessary for the survival of you all, you kept missing smiling ‘Kookie’ from the field.

“Actually, I changed my mind, we really just need to sleep so we can get moving again as fast as possible” Jungkook shot out before Taehyung had a chance to decide on his question.

You pouted slightly, as did Taehyung.  Jungkook settled himself down into a sleeping position on the ground and fell asleep almost immediately.  He must’ve been exhausted from taking the lead on today’s plans and travels, you also remembered hearing him say he had gotten up at 12am for the premiere of the game.  ‘Damn’ you thought ‘He’s been up over 24 hours…’

He was probably right about the three of you all needing your sleep, but you were a little bummed at the same time. You really wanted to know more about your traveling partners.  You started to settle yourself down trying to find a comfortable spot to lay on the cave floor, when a soft “pst” came from Taehyung’s direction.  You turned your head to look at him in a puzzled manner.  He motioned with one hand for you to come close to him, and you did.  Propping your back against the wall to sit side by side with him.

“I don’t like how Jungkook is acting” He started in a whisper “He’s my best friend... I’ve never seen him like this before.  I understand the seriousness of what’s going on here, trust me. But...to not care about everyone else that could die in here, it’s not like him and just seems wrong.” He looked somberly at a small pebble in his hand he was absentmindedly toying with as he talked.

“I...uh don’t really know what to say” you shrugged “I only just met him today,  He seems like a good guy, he’s been kind to me.  But yeah I guess I can kinda agree, it doesn’t sit totally right with me to just leave everyone else behind struggling when we know what the strategy to stay alive is…”

Taehyung scoffed “yeah and it’s not even just that… it’s that he knows…” he stopped himself and threw the pebble roughly at the wall opposite you both. “Never mind. I don’t know why I’m telling you this, I’m sorry, I was just venting”

You nod and without thinking rested your head on his shoulder, heavy with the sleep falling on you.  You could feel his body stiffen slightly in a state of surprise at your touch, but he soon relaxed and set his own head on top of yours.

 “Might as well be a shoulder for each other to lean on throughout this huh? We are probably gonna need it” He sighed quietly.

You didn’t see him looking down at you. You didn’t notice how he admired your beauty and had to hold himself back from full on pressing his whole body against yours in a tight embrace.  Wanting to feel you, and have you feel him,  to ease both of your stresses from today. You definitely couldn’t tell that from his angle there was a perfect view for him to look down the front of your dress and see some of your exposed chest.

It took everything in him to pull his eyes away, he tried to just focus on the fire in front of them.  He attempted to adjust himself in a non suspicious way and he made a mental note that this game was VERY realistic in how ALL of his body parts were working.

You were at this point falling fast asleep, head still on Taehyung’s shoulder, mind finally winding down for the first time today.  Your last thoughts before your eyes shut for the night were of home. You weren’t sure if you’d ever see it again, you weren’t sure if you’d make it out of this alive. But you were sure that if you had to be stuck here, you were happy that you had Jungkook and Taehyung with you.

When I asked Capt what they would like in an Eruri fic, they told me; “Canon without Titans” and Fluff XD

Well I did my best to make the fluffiest non-titan fic of these two old men in love. I really hope you like it <3<3<3

Levi rode his horse to the top of the hill, his eyes peeled as he looked out over the horizon; everything bathed in the soft glow of sunrise.

The war was over, the titans were gone; humanity had finally won.

Levi had taken what was left of his comrades' home, many tattered and broken like himself, but all heroes. They celebrated their victory, they honored their fallen, and they dreamed of what their new future would hold.

The celebration carried on for days; people from all over coming to thank the Heroes of Humanity. Levi had never spoken to so many people in his life, never shook so many hands, never been regarded so highly; even from those who had lost loved ones under his command.

He should have been happy, standing alongside Hange, knowing that they had helped save the world.  

He was happy that the war was over, he was relieved that there would be no more fighting, no more strategic planning, no more titans. But it was all bittersweet when the person who had paved the way toward victory was not there to celebrate with them.

Levi left everyone behind, riding his horse into the night; following the directions of a faded memory, unsure if there would even be anything waiting for him at his destination.

The little house was just as he remembered; far enough from the town to be secluded but close enough that getting supplies didn’t have to be a hassle. The small walkway had been cleaned up, flowers growing neatly beside it and there was a fresh coat of paint on the shutters, trim, and front door.

Levi smiled as he climbed off of his horse, bringing her over to the water trough and tying her on. He looked around at the peacefulness of the property in the early morning sun; the nearby bushes trimmed and filled with ripening berries, a small garden behind the house sprouting a fresh batch of vegetables, and a little birdhouse hanging from the tree beside the water trough, filled with singing birds.

It was the perfect house for retirement.

Levi’s heart quickened in his chest as he walked up the step and knocked on the front door. He knew who was inside, he didn’t have to be told but the thought made his heart beat even faster.

The door opened barely a moment later and there he was; the most beautiful man Levi had ever known. Levi’s eyes traveled over his body; thinner than he had been the last time they met, some of the hard muscles softening with lack of constant training. Gray hairs littered the scruff on his jaw and gathered by his temple, there were thin lines beside his eyes and the corners of his mouth, but he was Erwin and Levi felt himself falling in love all over again.

Erwin’s blue eyes traveled over Levi as well, filling with emotion as his arm wrapped around Levi’s back and pulled him into a hug.

“You’re here,” Erwin whispered, his nose buried in Levi’s hair and breathing deeply.

“I’m here,” Levi repeated, wrapping his arms tight around Erwin’s waist and relaxing into his touch.

Everything that had happened, everything he had been through, he was finally home.

“How did you know to find me here?” Erwin asked, leading Levi inside once they had finally let go, though their touch never leaving the other as they headed toward a well-worn chair; Erwin pulling Levi onto his legs.

“You brought me here once, a long time ago,” Levi said simply, laying his head against Erwin’s shoulder, “You said it was the perfect place to retire.”

“I did,” Erwin mused.

“I’m glad I’m finally here,” Levi whispered.

“As am I,” Erwin said, his voice hinting at the smile that spread over his lips as he tightened his grip around Levi; both sitting in comfortable silence and just enjoying the others’ presence.

Life fell into place when Levi moved in. He hadn’t taken any belongings, only the clothes he wore and the small amount of money he had; it was all he needed with Erwin by his side.

Levi cleaned the house, grumbling over how filthy it was with a one arm man cleaning it all these years himself. Erwin only chuckled fondly as he went outside to tend to the small garden.

They would sit out on the front step in the evenings, drinking tea that Erwin had bought from a shop in the nearby town, long before Levi arrived; as though there was no doubt Levi would come.

Levi would tell Erwin stories of the war as they held each other close in bed. Erwin would sooth away the bad dreams and Levi would tell him everything they had learned since Erwin was forced to step down.

“I wish I could have fought beside you,” Erwin said quietly, the night Levi told him of the plan that ultimately saved Humanity.

“It’s better that you didn’t. With your injuries, you wouldn’t have survived,” Levi whispered, tucking his head under Erwin’s chin as they lay beneath the covers on a cold, rainy night.

“I was prepared to die for humanity,” Erwin said, running his fingers through Levi’s hair.

“I know and you almost did, many times. If you didn’t step down when you did--”

“When you made me,” Erwin interrupted with a playful chuckle.

“When I made you,” Levi glared up at Erwin before flicking him on the nose, “You wouldn’t be here with me now. I know that’s selfish, but I don’t think I would be strong enough to live without you now that it’s all over.”

“I think a war hero is allowed to be a little selfish,” Erwin smiled, lifting Levi’s chin to look into his eyes before pressing their lips together softly.

Levi needed nothing more than the life he had with Erwin. He had never needed much; he had come from nothing, spend most of his life with nothing except a cause, and now when it was all over, he had nothing but Erwin and the small life they were building together. Levi was the richest man in the world.

A year passed with occasional visits from former scouts, regular letters from Historia regarding the progressing state of Humanity, and a nightly cup of tea.  

Tea was the only thing Levi cared to divulge in and it made his heart warm to think that Erwin made a point of buying fresh tea leaves for him each month. Erwin would pick out the best flavors, spending an hour in the tea shop each time to find the perfect blends.

“You’re later than usual, did you get caught up at the tea shop again?” Levi teased when Erwin came home past dark on his monthly supply run.

“No, not the tea shop,” Erwin said, lifting the sack from his shoulder and unloading the items onto the table.  

Levi watched him from the kitchen basin, continuing to dry the freshly cleaned dishes; learning early that Erwin was capable of doing such things himself even without both of his arms.

“No? Something else catch your interest then?” Levi asked.

“Yes, a travelling merchant,” Erwin smiled, picking up a small box.

“Oh no, what did he get you with?” Levi asked, rolling his eyes and turning back to the counter and wiping it down, “You know all of that is junk that we don’t need.”

“Most of it is, yes,” Erwin said.

“Why are you being coy?” Levi demanded, “Tell me what you bought.”

“Come see,” Erwin said.

Levi turned around, his eyes falling to Erwin as the larger man knelt on the floor, with a smile on his face and the small brown box open in his hand. Levi’s eyes widened as he looked inside the box and back into Erwin’s serious blue eyes.

“What is that?” Levi asked in shock.

“The merchant had many rings, but these two were a matching set. When I saw them, I knew I couldn’t leave without them,” Erwin explained, a broad smile in his face.

“You got swindled,” Levi said, his words harsh compared to the way his heart was beating at the sight of them.

“Did I? I thought they were a perfect way to ask the love of my life to marry me,” Erwin said, unperturbed by Levi’s statement and laying the box on the floor to reach for the smaller of the two.

“Erwin, I’m an old man, I don’t need a ring or a marriage proposal to prove how much I love you,” Levi said, feeling tears prickle in the back on his eyes.

“You’re right, we don’t need these things, we don’t need anything but each other. But this old man would be honored if you accepted nonetheless,” Erwin smiled warmly.

“Of course, I’ll accept you idiot,” Levi growled, fighting the smile that began to spread over his lips as he held out his hand to his soon to be husband.

Erwin didn’t say anything though his eyes sparkled with excitement as he slid the plain gold ring onto Levi’s finger. Levi let the happy tears fall from his eyes as he slipped to his knees on the floor; reaching for the matching ring and placing it on Erwin’s finger before pressing their lips together softly.  

Life was perfect now; no more war, no more titans, just a little cottage on the edge of nowhere, where Erwin and Levi would live out their remaining years in the comfort of retirement and each other.

CHAPTER 1

Deep in a green valley surrounded by wildflowers was a large castle, a castle with tall billowing towers filled with students but not just ordinary students, no this school was full of unique students, powerful students, magical students, this school was full of soon to be witches and wizards. It was known as the Witchling Academy and taught young magical students as young as 3 years old to 13 years old. The Witchling Academy students where from villages, towns and cities all around the Northern Region because there were still not many witches and wizards in any of the Four Regions, but each year there numbers slowly started to grow.

A young girl with extremely wavy light hair ways down her back and a scar over the bridge of her nose was one of the students who had just finished her last day of Witchling Academy, her name was Suzoo Magik. She waved a piece of long parchment paper in the air and spun around with a smile as she read.

DEAR STUDENT;

I hear by congratulate you on your success of Graduating from Witchling School Academy. For the next Four(4) year term you are to travel with the aid of an S.A.C.A around the Four Regions, North, South, East and West, to study, learn and develop your wizarding skills and abilities to qualify to be a fully qualified witch or wizard.

Leave time for New term will be 12am August 30th on Hall Hill.

“I can’t believe we’re already graduating.” Another girl was saying as she walked by with her own friends gawking at her graduation paper.

“You realize this will be our last summer together.” A shorter girl with extremely curly hair that haloed her head pouted slightly elbowing Suzoo’s arm.

“I know Ellie, but we’ll make it the best one yet, and aren’t you excited?” Suzoo asked rolling up the parchment paper stuffing it into the bag she had hanging off her shoulder.

Ellie Forest had been Suzoo’s best friend at Witchling Academy since they both entered at 3 years old.

“I guess, I’m nervous too though aren’t you? What If I forget something I need?” Ellie asked pushing some curls from her eyes.

“Not really, and I’m sure you’d figure it out.” Suzoo shrugged but smiled sympathetically to her friend.

“We have two whole months before we have to worry about anything though so lets enjoy it!” Suzoo added lacing her arm with her friend as they left the school grounds.

After Suzoo celebrated her graduation with her father, grandmother and some of her other family members, the summer seem to race by with beach visits, sleepovers, flying around and exploring on bright summer days and trying to stay awake to not miss even more excitement.

The morning of August 29th Suzoo flew a few houses over to Ellie’s on an old broom her father had owned and handed down to her when she started her 6th year at Witchling Academy, she found her friend in a complete panic.

“One bag! How am I suppose to fit everything into one bag!” Ellie shrieked when Suzoo pushed the door to her bedroom open causing a mountain slide of books, bottled items, parchment paper and clothes.

“Use a spell?” Suzoo suggested surprised her friend hadn’t already had everything packed and ready.

“I don’t know that spell yet, do you?”

“Er- No, not off hand anyways.” Suzoo and Ellie knew a lot of magic but there was still a lot they had to learn too.

Ellie took in a deep breath, held it in for a moment then let it out lifting up the long thin black wand she held in her hand.

“Net Toyer.” Ellie said as she gave the wand a wave and the books, cloths, jars, bottles of items and papers began to lift themselves up and shuffle back neatly in the room clearing away the mess.

“I can’t wait until we’re sixteen and don’t have to actually say the darn spells out loud.” Ellie placed the wand in its own thin pouch that was hooked to a belt on her waist, as she pulled her very large, overly packed bag onto her back. The small girl seem to carry it with ease.

“Couldn’t find a spell to make it fit more, but I found one to make it lighter.”

Ellie said examining a jar in her hands she had grabbed before they left her room and walked down the hall to the kitchen.

“Last baby going off! Can you believe this! Alright hug and kiss, be safe, be good and I’ll see you tonight okay?”

Ellie’s mother Mrs. Forest gave her a big, long hug before kissing both her checks before stepping back from the front door.

“Tell your dad and grandparents I say hi!” Mrs. Forest called as they left the house.

Suzoo and Ellie flew back to Suzoo’s house and the two spent the rest of the day reading over useful spells they might need, like a night-light spell or spark spell to start a fire, at 1pm Suzoo’s dad poked his head into his daughters room, his hair the same light shade as Suzoo’s but with a few more greys, dressed in jeans and white collard shirt.

“Alright its already 1 in the afternoon, you want any chance of being able to fly tonight and not fall asleep on your brooms you better get some shut eye.” Mr. Magik winked at them before he gave a quick flick of his own wand and the curtains in Suzoo’s room closed and turned from a transparent yellow to solid black, the room becoming dark instantly.

“Thanks dad.” Suzoo said rolling her eyes trying not to smile from excitement.

The friends stayed up a little longer talking about what area in the North Region they were going to go to before they both finally fell asleep.

When Mr. Magik woke up Suzoo and Ellie a few hours later the sun had already sunk deep behind the horizon and it took them both a few moments to realize what was happening. Once they did it didn’t take them long to get ready and be waiting impatiently by the front door to the Magik families house.

“Come on dad we don’t want to be late! Everyone will be there already!” Suzoo called standing in the doorway, her bag hanging from her shoulder full of her clothes, tooth brush, some books, food and a few other items she thought may come in handy and her fathers broom in hand, Ellie stood behind her outside, the over sized backpack strapped to the small girls back, her own broom, quiet a few years newer then Suzoo’s, in her hands as they trembled slightly.

“This is it.” Ellie kept muttering under her breath until Mr. Magik finally made his way down the stairs, a briefcase with a single strap slung over his shoulder, an even older broom covered in cracks, large scratches and even a burn mark that belonged to Suzoo’s grandfather in his hands. After Suzoo gave her grandparents a finally goodbye hug the three mounted their brooms and they left the slightly leaning, two story house that had windows almost the same size as the walls and moguls of large grassy hills surrounding it behind as they flew to Hall Hill.

It didn’t take them long to reach Hall Hill, it was the tallest grass covered hill in the town, thick trees lined up in a row on either sides of it like a long hallway that opened up to a large flat, clear grassy hill top. When Mr. Magik, Suzoo and Ellie came into the clearing there were already a number of students and parents there along with a few of Witchling Academy’s teachers and Headmaster Professor Valikar. Ellie ran to give her mom a hug when she spotted her in the crowd and before Suzoo could follow to say hello Mr. Magik had grabbed her gently by the shoulder and walked her off to the side of the clearing.

“I’m going to miss you Sparks-”

“Dad.” Suzoo groaned, Sparks was a very old nickname Suzoo’s dad had given her after she got angry at him when she was two and short-circuited the house after blowing a fuse, Mr. Magik joked constantly when she was younger about how he saw sparks fly from every outlet and that’s where he got the nickname.

“I got you something to show you how proud I am-”

“Dad!” Suzoo groaned again this time smiling, she wasn’t one for sentimental conversations, but what 13 year old was.

Mr. Magik grinned placing his broom down, before reaching into the briefcase hanging from his side, Suzoo watched with anticipation and excitement as he pulled the item and then kept pulling until an entire broom, a brand new broom, was balancing in the palm of both his hands. It’s handle was a thick dark wood that had a shiny polish finish, the end of the broom wasn’t like normal brooms, pointed, no the thick fabric that made the tail was thin itself but there was so much it bushed out at the end.

“It’s for long distance and speed, one of the top rated in all Four Regions.” Mr. Magik said very proud of himself. Suzoo reached slowly for the new broom her mouth open as she handed her dad back his broom that she had been riding since she first stared flying.

“Wow! Suzoo that’s a Sitka Broom! Wait Mr. Magik you know a bag deepening spell, can you teach me it?” Ellie asked still keeping her eyes on her friends new broom in amazement.

After Mr. Magik showed Ellie the spell and Suzoo had a quick test flying only a few feet off the ground, more students and parents arrived in groups and soon Headmaster Valikar was calling all the Graduating Witchlings into a line in the moon light grass clearing. All the students including Suzoo and Ellie said their finally goodbyes to their parents, gave them one last hug then they all walked to the edge of Hall Hill were the largest clearing was and the full moon shined brightly, before mounting their brooms.

“Alright Graduates of Witchling Academy, once you take off your S.A.C.A will join you and be of aid to you on your journey this new school year- and report back to us-” Headmaster Valikar said the last bit directly to two boys who had began shoving each other excitedly on their brooms, they stopped immediately.

“Please treat your aids with kindness and remember they are with you to help you.” The tall wizard with a thick black beard and dark navy blue pointed hat, that looked as though a large book had fallen on it and squished it, and cloak that looked almost glittery under the moon light finished as he spoke to all the students.

Excited smiles and quiet chatter picked up among the line of witchling’s preparing to take off for their new school terms and a completely new journey.

“This is insane!” A nervous skinny boy with hair flat against his head said trembling on his broom, a large bag almost the same size as Ellie’s strapped to his back.

“Sending a bunch of 13 year old’s into the wild! No parents or guardians! Isn’t this a type of child endangerment?” The petrified boy hissed lowly at anyone who would listen.

“Shut up Kray, this is awesome.” A beefy boy with short spiky hair said from down the line.

“You’ll be fine Kray, you’ll have your aid too, remember.” Suzoo couldn’t tell if her words helped or not, the boy looked even more nervous, if that was possible, but didn’t say anything else.

Suzoo leaned forward glancing down the line, some students were adjusting their bag straps or making sure they didn’t forget anything, a few where double checking the fabric in their broom, Suzoo could hear a few girls talking about their hair and why they had worn it that way to fly, some had pulled small radio’s from their bags and where stuffing them in their pockets or hanging them from the ends of their brooms. A few other students looked serious and ready to take off, their eyes fixated on the clear sly ahead, Ellie was one of them but Suzoo could see she was shaking.

“Alright Witchlings, I look forward to seeing you in four years for your final graduation to becoming a full witch or wizard, good luck!” With Headmaster Valikar’s last words the line up of over 20 witchlings on their brooms all began to slowly rise at different speeds.

Suzoo kicked off the ground a few seconds after Ellie and her new broom shot up much quicker then Suzoo had expected, she gripped the broom handle tighter and kept her speed up until she was level with her friend, Suzoo looked to her right and the line up of students all hovered a few hundred feet in the air until a few started shooting forward into the darkness of the night.

Suzoo and Ellie exchanged a quick glance and grin before they leaned forward and their brooms took off into the night.

It only took the large group of witchlings a few minutes of flying until they reach a large open body of water, Suzoo could hear some of the students start clicking on their radios, most of them where on the same station and it filled the silence of the air with a new scenes of adventure.

As they flew Suzoo noticed everyone began flying in small groups, a large group of boys were showing off, doing broom tricks, one had flown up too high too fast and almost fell off. Another was the same group of girls who had been talking about their flying dynamic hair, they were now arguing about which city in the Northern Region had the best restaurants and shopping options.

A small group of three raced over head, Suzoo couldn’t tell who they were, all she saw was feet and flapping cloaks zoom by, they disappeared into the darkness fairly quickly.

It was about an hour until Suzoo or Ellie said anything, neither of them had ever flow for so long, Ellie’s shaking had stopped almost 40 minutes ago and Suzoo was starting to think it would be day break until they reach any sight of land.

“Weird, it never feels like you’re living on an island until you leave.” Ellie spoke first as she leaned over her broom looking down at the large body of water that almost looked like ink in the moon light.

“My legs are cramping! This is insane! What if I have to stop? Where are the aids!?” Kray’s shrill whinny voice could be heard clearly over the radios and students talking.

“What’s that!” A student yelled out right after Kray had stopped whining.

The entire group of witchlings and brooms seem to slow down slightly in the air, their heads darting all around trying to see what was going on.

“There!” Another shouted and students began to turn and look back at where they had just flown from.

A large dark shadow hanging in mid air was approaching them at a rapid speed, students could be heard gasping, some let out little whimpers. The large shadow all of a sudden broke apart into hundreds of tiny shadows.

“Wow!”

“Whoa!”

“There’s so many!”

Students started picking up speed again, racing forward in utter amazement as over 20 different owls and crows flew over head, then one by one the animals began gliding down to individual students.

Suzoo and Elise starting flying at a quicker speed again along with the other students and Suzoo watched as a large white crow, a small barn owl and black crow flew down to the group of girls who had been discussing what was the best place in the Northern Region to go. A large great horned owl swooped down in front of Suzoo to the large boy who was flying a few feet below with his group of friends, two more barn owls and a black crow soon joined them. Something zoomed passed Suzoo’s head and she turned in time to see a very skinny, crow glide over and stop at Kray who was quiet a few yards behind them, even with the distance though Suzoo could tell he looked terrified of the bird.

“Hello!”

“Good evening to you both.”

Suzoo’s head shot around and met face to face with a Great grey owl, It flew there staring at Suzoo before its great out stretched wings went passed her, and the owl was now hovering beside Ellie.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Ellie Forest,” The Great grey owl spoke in a very mature motherly voice. “My name is Merry and I will be your S.A.C.A or simply aid for your next four year term, I’m sure well be able to teach you many new spells, potions and perhaps find new and useful items.” Ellie was staring at the Great grey owl named Merry with her mouth open, but even in the dark Suzoo could see a gleam in her friend’s eye she often got when she was told she’d be learning something new.

“Hello! Excuse me! Hello!” A small shrill voice came from beside Suzoo again and she turned from her friend and almost fell off her broom when her face smacked into, what felt like a tiny through pillow of feathers.

“Hello Miss Magik!” The tiny feather pillow moved from Suzoo’s face and was now flying in circles over top Suzoo, she watched him for a few seconds her head getting dizzy watching him go around and around.

“I’m Finn! Miss Suzoo Magik I will be your School Appointed Creature Assistant! Or S.A.C.A or aid over the next four year term! This is my first time being a student aid so-”

“Finn! The student’s don’t need to know that.” Merry interrupted still gliding beside Ellie.

“I’m sure everything will be great! Right!” Finn the owl continued in his high pitched voice as he finally stopped flying circles around Suzoo’s head and landed on the front of her broom where she actually got a look at him. He was a very small white owl, with large black eye, he looked out of breath as well, but almost- if possible- had the same gleam of excitement in his eyes as Ellie had in hers.

“Right.” Suzoo said, even though they were all witchlings, talking animals were still pretty uncommon and it didn’t feel normal watching an animal talk, even though they were flying on brooms and could make spells work through delicately crafted sticks.

The large group of now Witchlings. Owls and crows filled the night air with light conversations and polite introductions.

“How far would you say we are to hitting land soon?” Ellie asked rubbing her eyes. It felt like hours had passed now since the owls and crow S.A.C.A’s had shown up, even Suzoo’s eyes were starting to feel heavy, her butt had already gone completely numb from sitting on the broom for so long, and she had run out of snacks.

“We’ll if you look to your left you’ll see-” With those words the group of Witchlings broke in conversation again and began drifting over towards Suzoo and Ellie, almost creating a wall of Witchlings.

The chatter picked up volume as tiny lights could be seen far in the distance.

“Do you think it’s a big city?”

“I wonder if it has a Library?” Ellie asked turning to Merry flying beside her.

“Maybe it’s got a shopping mall!” Another girl squealed from somewhere in the crowd of brooms Witchlings and birds. By now most of the birds had landed on their assigned students brooms to rest.

“We can’t all stop in the same town can we.” The larger boy was asking the great horned owl that sat on the front of his broom.

“No, at least Witchling’s can’t, not until your final two years.” The owl tried to sound sympathetic, the boy was obviously not happy about this but nodded in response.

“I’m going to pass out and drown in the ocean if we don’t reach land soon!”

Kray shrieked from the back of the group, the skinny black crow perched on his broom stick glared at him menacingly.

“You can’t stop at the first town you see.” Suzoo could hear the bird say in a very strict voice.

Suzoo didn’t hear if Kray said anything back because the night air was being filled with cheers, yelling and, Suzoo was sure she could hear someone crying, maybe that was Kray. The first true sign of land had finally come into view and the group of Witchlings were all more then excited to see ground again, some seem to get some of their energy back and started to pick up speed, zooming passed to get in the front of the group.

Suzoo and Ellie didn’t see anything for a few moments besides tiny distant lights then, a very dark long mass with hundreds of tiny lights was growing from the water and as they flew for a few more minutes, the mass of land grew and soon they were flying over dark hills of grass, farm fields and a few scattered houses.

“You’ll need to fly up higher now.”

“Fly up higher now.”

Owls and crows could be heard telling their assigned Witchling through the chatter that had broken out.

“Go higher!” Finn’s high pitched voice made Suzoo jump slightly on her broom.

“All Witchlings need to fly higher, you don’t want to be spotted in a group like this, you’ll frighten the Northern humans, not all of them have met any witches or wizards in their time you know.” Merry the Great grey owl was saying to Ellie.

Suzoo titled the front of her broom upward and began to rise higher and higher into the night sky with Ellie and the other Witchlings, passing through misty clouds until they were all out of sight, but could see the land and village below made up of only a few houses, barns and fields.

The talking didn’t stop as they watched open farming fields turn into thick forest, a few minutes later hundreds of buildings packed together came into view.

“What town is that?” Suzoo said looking down at the many tiny lights below.

“That’s Naltea, It’s the second largest city in the Northern Region!” Finn said excitedly hoping up and down on Suzoo’s broom then took flight.

Suzoo looked around and all the other owls and crows were taking flight once more as well.

“This is it girls, I’ll see you in the summer!” Suzoo heard the girl with the white crow say loudly to her friends.

“Bye Abby!”

“We’ll miss you Abby!”

“Good luck Abby!”

The group of young girls yelled down to their friend as her broom jumped up higher into the air then dropped into a quick distend.

They flew over smaller towns and cities in the Northern Region, the group began to dwindle down as witchlings and their aids began choosing where they were going to study for the year.

The large boy with the great horned owl gave around of high fives to everyone, including Suzoo and Ellie, before he dived out of sight into the darkness to a city with massive farming fields and barns surrounding it.

“You’re going to Laytrik right?” Suzoo asked Ellie as she flew her broom a bit closer.

“Well yes it has the biggest Museum and Library in all the Regions.” Ellie said with a large grin.

Suzoo hadn’t noticed until now but Ellie had started to shake again.

“It’ll be awesome.” Suzoo said softly trying to reassure her friend.

Ellie simply nodded rapidly in response, her hands still trembling on her broom handle.

Another part of the group flying started to cheer as two more witchlings began their descend, one declining much quicker, the second slowly faded into the distance as the sky began turning a dull orange.

Suzoo looked ahead as they flew over another large part of forest until she saw a giant body of water with a handful of smaller pools surrounding it in a large clearing.

It was only a few minutes later that the dull orange sky was now vibrant orange and bright blue. The misty clouds below covering them began to spread out more now in clumps, thankfully though it seemed like they were now down to the last few witchlings as they passed three more good sized cities and three more witchlings left their group.

“Hey!” A girl with her hair pulled back into a tight sleek pony tail flew up to them after she waved the last of her group member off.

“You’re Suzoo and Elise right?” The girl said smiling, she was riding a broom with a crimson red handle and sleek pointed fabrics almost like her pony tail, a large light brown barn owl was gliding beside her. Suzoo had seen her a few times around school.

“Ellie, and you’re Sara right?” Ellie said glancing at the girl quickly then back ahead.

“Sarena.” The girl said with an amused tone.

“Where are you two stopping?” Sarena asked with enthusiasm.

“Laytrik.” Ellie answered dryly.

“I’m not sure where I’ll be-”

“YOU DON’T KNOW?” Finn’s voice reached a new note Suzoo had never heard before and she covered the ear he was closes to.

“Well I mean - I figured Id just go to one I think looked nice-”

“THAT’S HOW YOU PLANNED ON CHOOSING WHERE TO SPEND YOU’RE YEAR?” Finn cut Suzoo off again continuing to yell in his high pitched voice.

“I couldn’t pick where to go either, Vay suggested where I should go, so did most of my friends aids.” Sarena said proudly to the owl flying beside her.

“Speaking of where you should go- your stop.” The barn owl Vay said nodding her head down to a city with tall builds and thick trees that housed other builds and homes in its branches.

“Wow.” Suzoo said under her breath, Ellie glanced over and Suzoo heard a quiet “Wow.” From her as well.

“That’s Forrela, known for its amazing gardens and the fact that they incorporate nature into their everyday lives, there is one of the worlds best Magical Herbalism wizards who lives there.” Finn said in a much more quiet- yet still high pitched voice.

“I can’t wait to meet him- See you guys back at the school at the end of the year!” Sarena waved vigorously before her broom simply began to fall in a dead drop, she was almost a tiny speck but Suzoo watched as she pulled up from her drop and began flying forward again more slowly into the forest covered city.

Suzoo looked around once more and now there was only herself, Ellie, three other boys and Suzoo was sure there was still someone a few hundred yards behind them. Once Sarena had vanished the group of three boys flew over a bit closer but where still a good distance away, two of them had shaved heads and one had hair so long it was pulled back in a bushy ponytail.

“Good luck!” One of the boys yelled to Suzoo and Ellie before waving and moving farther away again, a gigantic circular field with three cities on each end of it sat.

“No doubt they’ll be studying under the Broomswick Masters, Nageela, Torno and Mutan. This is where the Regions National race is held every 2 years at the end of the summer.” Merry Ellie’s aid said after being quiet for so long.

“Laytrik.” Ellie said and Suzoo could hear her voice tremble slightly again.

Suzoo glanced down and in the centre of a few hundred building and houses stood a magnificent white building that seem to tower over the rest of the town and city.

“This is it.” Ellie sucked in and let out an uneasy breath, making a small awkward noise when she did.

“I’ll see you soon and we can always write!” Suzoo and Ellie flew as close as they could and tried to one-arm hug each other awkwardly.

“Write and tell me where you end up.” Ellie said with a bit of force, as she very slowly began to sink lower then Suzoo in the sky.

“Tell me all about the library and the witch you met!”

“Don’t forget to tell me what witch or wizard you end up studying under!”

“You too.” Suzoo tried not to laugh at how slowly Ellie was going but after another few moments she was far enough away they gave each other one last wave and even though Ellie wasn’t completely out of sign in the now daylight, the sudden realization that she was on her own hit Suzoo hard and for the first time she did start to feel nervous and lonely.

“So do you want to hear where I think you should stop to study?” Suzoo feeling of loneliness popped like a bubble when Finn’s squeaky high pitched voice hit her ears.

He said the public option will work the same way public colleges and Universities without inhibiting a vibrant system of private colleges and Universities. This is a fool's argument and a total apples to oranges comparison. Let me explain, first almost all private universities receive funding from the federal government. The federal government is not going to provide funding for private insurance. The second reason is it's common knowledge that the best Universities in the U.S. are private schools such as Duke, Stanford, and the Ivy League. These universities fill most of the highest paying jobs in the country. Some jobs even go as far as to require a degree from one of these schools (Stock Brokers on NYC Stock Exchange.) These highly paid graduates can donate larger amounts of money back to their respective colleges than the average Joe who graduated from a generic state funded university. No one is going to donate money to the private insurance companies. We can't even get all the people who qualify for insurance to sign up and that's the problem! Look, I have no way of knowing whether the public option will work or won't but when faulty logic is used to support it I become concerned. When most of the people supporting the public option are from California (a state where the middle class is few and far between) I become more concerned.
