Social Media Research Paper
I will be discussing how social media has changed our view of ourselves. Basically how social media has affected self-image. I will be talking about how because everyone post perfect pictures of themselves on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter, people of self-conscience of how they look. What they don’t see is the not perfect people and on social media people can pose for a photo to make themselves look different than they look in real life. Also people now use photoshop to alter images they post on social media. I will be referencing “The Role of the Media in Body Image Concerns Among Women: A Meta-Analysis of Experimental and Correlational Studies” written by Selby Grabe, L. Monique Ward and Janet Shibley Hyde.

305 US Climate Mayors commit to adopt, honor and uphold Paris Climate Agreement goals
STATEMENT FROM THE CLIMATE MAYORS IN RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT TRUMP’S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT
The President’s denial of global warming is getting a cold reception from America’s cities.
As 305 US Mayors representing 61 million Americans, we will adopt, honor, and uphold the commitments to the goals enshrined in the Paris Agreement. We will intensify efforts to meet each of our cities’ current climate goals, push for new action to meet the 1.5 degrees Celsius target, and work together to create a 21st century clean energy economy.
We will continue to lead. We are increasing investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency. We will buy and create more demand for electric cars and trucks. We will increase our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create a clean energy economy, and stand for environmental justice. And if the President wants to break the promises made to our allies enshrined in the historic Paris Agreement, we’ll build and strengthen relationships around the world to protect the planet from devastating climate risks.
The world cannot wait — and neither will we.

The plot bears some similarities to 1954′s “The Golf Game” (ILL S3;E30), in which Lucy and Ethel are tired of being left out of the boys’ sporting pursuits.
“The Two Mrs. Coopers” ~ November 4, 1950
Synopsis ~ It’s Liz’s birthday and she wants to forget all about it but she doesn’t want George to forget it! George mistakenly thinks that it is his mother’s birthday and buys her present which Liz thinks is for her. But then he realizes that he has invited his mother’s friends over for a surprise party!
[On all known sources, this episode and “Liz’s Birthday” (November 25, 1950) are the same program. It is likely that one or the other has been lost. Because the titles might fit both programs, there is no consensus on which is lost and which is extant!]
“Vacation from Marriage”* ~ November 11, 1950
Basis for "Vacation from Marriage" (ILL S2;E6) of “I Love Lucy”
“Liz Goes to Night School” ~ November 18, 1950

“Marrying Off Peggy Martin” ~ December 2, 1950
Synopsis ~ Liz tries to play matchmaker for Peggy Martin with one of George’s clients, but both the client and George think that Liz is going after the guy for herself.

Synopsis ~ Liz and George have their pictures taken for their Christmas cards, but then can’t agree on which shot to use.

Synopsis ~ Liz wants a mink coat from George, so she pretends to be sick in order to get his sympathy - and the coat! George is on to her tactics, and decides to give her the scare of her life - literally!

“Liz Substitutes in a Club Play” ~ January 6, 1951
Synopsis ~ Liz is determined to play the lead in the women’s club play, even if she has to keep the leading lady from showing up. There’s only one problem: Liz has learned the lines for the wrong play!
In part, the basis for the “I Love Lucy” episode “Lucy Writes A Play” (ILL S1;E17)
“The Cuckoo Clock Conspiracy” ~ January 13, 1951
Synopsis ~ Liz bought George’s Christmas present, a cuckoo clock, with a rubber check, and now she needs to figure out a way to make good on it so the store owner won’t repossess the clock.

“Liz Exaggerates” ~ January 20, 1951
Synopsis ~ Liz’s exaggerations become so bad that George cuts off her allowance until she can prove that she can consistently tell nothing but the truth. George finds her promise is kept, not wisely, but too well.
In order not to be confused with the earlier episode “The Absolute Truth” (January 28, 1949), the script never uses the word “lie” - just “exaggerate”. Both of these episodes were combined for “Lucy Tells The Truth” (ILL S3;E6)
“George is Drafted - Liz’s Baby” ~ January 27, 1951
Synopsis ~ George gets a letter asking him to serve on the local draft board, and Liz thinks he’s been drafted. George thinks Liz’s emotional state is because she is having a baby!

”Liz and Iris’s Easter” ~ March 24, 1951
Synopsis ~ The boys make a deal with the girls, if Liz and Iris can slim down to the same dress size they wore ten years ago, George and Rudolph will buy each of them a whole new Easter outfit.

Costa Blanca South Bowls Roundup
EL RANCHO BOWLS CLUB On Monday morning the Pintos entertained a very welcome and friendly Toreadors from Monte Mar. We had a splendid morning’s bowls; even the losing rink thoroughly enjoyed the match. The play was closer than the score might indicate, with the Pintos taking 4 rinks and the overall shots. Meanwhile the Palominos were at Country Bowls taking on a strong Flamingos, who proved to be too good on their home mat. But it’s all a learning curve and sometimes you are up against too strong an opponent. Flamingos took all the available points with the palominos fielding a rink short. In the afternoon, the Raiders were at Emerald Isle playing their Saturns and turned in a good effort, in taking 2 rinks losing the overall shots by just one. A good result at Emerald Isle. On Friday morning the Mustangs were playing the Lanzadores at Vistabella and came away without a point, the Lanzadores proving to be too strong on their own mat, winning comfortably. But as much as we all like to win, it was a pleasant way to spend the morning and Lanzadores deserved their win. The Raiders were at home entertaining Montemar Toreadors and put in a good effort all round, taking 2 rinks and losing the overall shots by a small margin. The Rangers were at home to Country Bowls Cubs and played well taking 2 rinks and losing the overall shots by just one, not a bad effort. For further membership information contact Sheila Cox at

HORADADA BOWLS CLUB BY IRENE GRAHAM A much better week all round for the Horadada club. On Monday in the Discovery Division we were away to Mazarron Mariners. A very closely fought match with only 1 or 2 shots difference in 4 of the rinks. The 5th rink was a bit different giving Mazarron the overall shots. This was a great boost for the Falcons especially playing away from home. Our three winning rinks were: Jenny Davis, Peter Davis and Terry Hucknall 19 -18 Irene Graham, Mark Jukes and Bryan Eatough 17 – 16 Debbie Perryman, John Goddard and Sheila Westwood 18 -16 The final result was shots for Horadada 80. Shots against 87 giving both teams 6 points each. Three matches remaining Falcons, all played at home. The next match is against the team that is below us in the table. Let’s start our great finally by making this one count. On Friday the Royals were away to Quesada Swans. The match commenced by everyone stripping off layers as it was a really warm morning! I could see our captain Jack Linehan biting a few finger nails as some of the rinks were close scoring and one of the rinks was trailing miserably. As the match progressed the close scoring rinks went back and forth and as often happens in bowls it was a game of two halves. The trailing rink managed to turn it around and this time the Royals came out on top. One of the rinks only lost by one shot so all-in-all a good day for the Royals. Our three winning rinks were: John Goddard, Mick Kirby and Bryan Eatough 20 -14 Irene Graham, Alan Miller and Terry Hucknall 29 – 13 Ken Barber, Mark Jukes and Roy Thomson 22 – 8 The final result being 99 shots for Horadada and 77 against giving us much needed 8 points to 4 against. The Royals have two matches left to play and again both are at home. The next match is against the team who are below us in the table so to ensure safety let’s go for it Royals and get a clean sweep. Very well played to all our team members on both days and keep ‘em bowls a rollin’ Horadada. Horadada offers a warm welcome to new or experienced bowlers, and provides the necessary equipment. Our roll-up days for this friendly club are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings. Please contact Fred Trigwell on 659139129 for more information. LA MARINA BOWLS CLUB WITH CHRIS BOULD Monday 04-03-19 the Explorers were at home to Quesada Diamonds. Points for 8 and 4 against. Shots were 96 for and 71 against. The three winning rinks were Anne Stone, Wendy Latham and Peter Parsons, 32-9. Janet Parsons, Jim Manning, and Tom Spencer, 21-9. Roger Stacey, Jean and Don Fowkes, 16-10. No report from Pathfinders. Wednesday 06-03-19 found our Winter league playing Benitachell. Points were 8 for and 4 against. Shots were 90 for and 63 against. Best winning rink was Jan and Peter Parsons and Jean and Don Fowkes, 27-5. Friday 08-03-19 The Ospreys were away to E.I Cavaliers. Points for 4 and 8 against. Shots were 90 for and 107 against. This was a close fought contest with only 1 or two points separating 3 of the rinks. No report from Merlin’s. That’s all folks. In the South Alicante Winter League, Quesada Pearls put on a sterling performance against Montemar Matadors winning the match 10-2 and shots 81-67. This means the Pearls maintain their 4th place in the league just one point behind San Miguel Beagles. Meanwhile the Diamonds had a tough match against La Marina Explorers, who won the match 3 rinks to 2 and the shots 96-71. So Explorers won overall, 8 points to 4. The Rubies had a better result this week with a 6 all draw against La Marina Pathfinders, who won the shots 98-82 In the Southern League Quesada Swans played Horadada Royals. It was a competitive match with the Swans winning on 2 rinks while the Royals won on 3 rinks and also won the shots 99-77 so the points were 8-4 in favour of the Royals. The Swifts returned to Montemar this week to face the Matadors. It was a nail-biting match with 3 of the rinks decided on the last end. The Swifts managed a win and with the points 8-4 this means the Swifts will hold on to their 2nd place in the league. In the Winter league, Quesada had a bye this week and are now in 5th place in the league just 2 points behind Emerald Isle. In the Federated 4’s Quesada Panthers had an incredibly close and competitive match against San Luis Ospreys. All of the rinks were decided on the last end and the final score was 2 rinks won by the Ospreys (16-14 and 17-15) with one rink drawn 15-15, so the points went to the Ospreys, 7-1. COUNTRY BOWLS CLUB Monday’s game at home against El Rancho Palominos started innocently enough with both teams feeling their way through the first few ends. Suddenly the Palominos imploded or was it that the Flamingos exploded? The super team of Sylvia and Jim Rennie and Les Turner had two amazing ends on rink 6 with ‘hotshots’ on both ends 9 & 17. Hotshot badges and certificates are on their way. Absolutely great bowling, well done to you all. Scores are as follows; Graham Richardson, Pat Patton & Brian Patton 44 – 4 Carole Donnellan, Pat Emmett & Dennis Birkett 28 – 9 Gordon Dixon, John Jukes & Geoff Paylor 39 – 5 Sylvia Rennie, Les Turner & Jim Rennie 42 – 10 One rink was uncontested giving the Flamingos 10 shots and 2 points Overall score Flamingos 12 Palominos 0, Shots 163 to 38 Fantastic result. The Cubs headed to El Rancho on Friday in what was the very first experience for many of the Cubs on the fast green. El Rancho were off to a storming start winning on 3 rinks by the half way mark. The Cubs though, were not lying down and brought all but one back in their favour. However, holding onto that lead proved difficult as one rink went down to the last end. Overall score 8 – 4 to the Cubs and the closest of shots being 72 – 71 to the Cubs allowing them to hold onto their 5th league position. Winning rinks ; Chris Stevens, Craig Dyson & Andy Bryce. While the Carolinas and other southeastern American states prepare for this week’s arrival of monster storm Florence, countries in the Eastern Caribbean sub region were bracing for the passage of Tropical Storm Isaac as the 2018 hurricane season approaches its peak.
So far several air carriers, including American Airlines and Antigua-based commuter carrier LIAT have either cancelled flights or rearranged schedules for Thursday and Friday as the storm approaches the Leeward Islands and will head north to other Caribbean Community nations.
Forecasters have downgraded it from a hurricane in the past 24 hours but have warned that warm open sea waters and other conditions at this time of the year are ideal for re-strengthening so the entire sub-region and those north of it should remain on alert.
Taking no chances following the level of destruction wrought on the region mega by Storms Irma and Maria last year, the Barbados-based Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and other agencies were in full preparation mode and the British Government moved a relief and rescue ship to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean this week ahead of Isaac’s arrival on Thursday and Friday. The ship docked in Bridgetown on Tuesday.
“We have come to Barbados to refuel and top up our stores, before we position ourselves to render assistance wherever it might be needed,” Barbados Today online service quoted Captain Peter Selby, commander of the Mounts Bay as saying as the vessel tops up supplies before heading out to countries like Dominica and others in the direct path of Isaac.
The ship has onboard several pieces of heavy duty equipment including tractors, trucks, quad bikes, all terrain vehicles, food, water and other supplies for distribution should the need arise.
British envoy Janet Douglas said everyone remembers the disastrous 2017 storm season and the level of destruction if brought to the Caribbean so “to have Mounts Bay on standby is hugely reassuring. Her presence confirms the UK’s ongoing commitment to the region.”
Meanwhile, schools were ordered closed in Dominica for Thursday and Friday as a precaution in and island where more than 90 percent of the buildings and infrastructure was damaged by category five Hurricane Maria last year.
“We will close the schools tomorrow because we want to take precautionary measures. We expect rain tomorrow and I have been advised based on the weather reports that during this storm, we expect up to 10 inches of rain in the country and we do not want to have a situation where we allow our students to come in for an hour, two hours and have to rush them back to their homes,” Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said.
The current path projection is for Isaac to pass over still traumatized Dominica late Thursday, meaning that island below it or to the south will get a tastes of her earlier in the day. The entire area is expected to be inundated with heavy rains, as much as up to 10 inches forecasters say.
Island hopper airline, LIAT meanwhile, cancelled or rescheduled dozens of flights for Thursday and Friday, especially those leaving from its Barbados hub and headed north to Antigua, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and other destinations.
Far north in Jamaica, the island and its thousands of tourists have been asked to remain on alert with Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jackie Bisasor-McKenzie telling the nation that “we have been getting our supplies in place to make sure that we have tarpaulins, raincoats, things to supply the hospitals and the regions in case it is needed. In terms of our vehicles, we keep a constant check on what is available to ensure that we know when something is needed for transportation and we know exactly where they are and how it is that we communicate,” she said.
In neighboring Bermuda and the Bahamas, these two are monitoring both Florence and Isaac, Florence in particular as this category four storm is much closer to their general geographic area than any other.
Bahamian authorities say Cat Island, Abaco and Eleuthera could be affected as they urged people to stay away from beaches and to take precautions.
