Yes yes Tann is horrible etc etc but he is also conceptually soooo funny to me. Like Salarians have such short lifespans, they only live around 40 human years, and while most decide to devote the short amount of time they have to important scientific research or war-crime related things, Tann decided he was going to spend the few decades he had left being a slimy power-hungry beurocrat that no one would like. And he's not even good at it either. Kinda obsessed with him actually

So I’ve been reading through Nexus Uprising and it is giving me. Opinions. But I’ve noticed a lot of people who’ve read it say it makes them hate Tann even more and love Sloane. I’m reading it and Tann is a tool but fine, but Sloane just seems like an awful, violent person. So I wanna see what everyone’s opinions are. I’ll make a second post with a poll about Sloane.

Sorry you're absolutely right Sloane has done terrible things, more the point I was trying to make is that she and Reyes had both done terrible things but people were much more willing to forgive Reyes because he was suave and flirtatious while Sloane is bristly towards ryder
Oh right in that sense. Yeah. I wouldn't take Reyes' flirtation as a sign of appreciation or affection from him. And Sloane has her own way of showing her appreciation.
There is something to the whole "no challenging me in my games". When I was on Mars with Kaidan, I thought about the fact that players really reaaaally don't like to be challenged or questioned. Kaidan got so much hate for his reactions on Horizon and Mars but really, he's probably the only one raising all the ethical/moral/philosophical questions one should raise when something like this happens. And he wasn't even hateful or aggressive, he was just... concerned. I mean, we weren't that challenged... And Khalisah challenges us too, but the matter is resolved quickly. She becomes a war asset. And Sloane is clearly going to stay Sloane, but it's obvious in MEA in the dialogues and even the atmosphere at the base that Ryder is welcomed now.
I would say, there are always a lot of reasons to dislike characters and people don't really have to justify themselves (unless they're being annoying and spreading hate), but me, I've never disliked characters because they challenge my character. Circumstances matter of course but in general, I don't get upset when Shepard and Ryder are challenged. I can be irked or annoyed, but it's not going to make me hate characters just for that reason.
One good example: I find Jarun Tann a great character to analyze. I like him a lot as a character, but I'm quite critical of him. And I'm more critical of some choices he has made than the fact that he might question or challenge Ryder's authority.

MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA: THE INITIATIVE LEADERS Dealing with them gives me headaches.

I know a mass effect andromeda sequel seems unlikely but if we get a sequel there is one plot point I would legitimately love.
It's been established that Tann hates Krogan and is manipulative. He does a lot of shady things and cares more about being right then he does about doing what's right. He reminds me of the Dalatrass from 3.
So what if Mordin finds out about the Andromeda intiative. Mordin is a practical guy, he also is working on a cure to the genophage, he's also probably aware that the chances of the galaxy surviving are low. He cares about righting the wrongs of his people and working towards a better future, so to me it makes sense that if he found out about the andromeda Initiative he'd send what he could about the cure to them.
What if Tann was the one to get the messages that were sent, what if tann in all his hatred of Krogan tried to cover it up and delete the information but didnt fully manage to. Which leads to it being uncovered by Ryder. It's then up to Ryder to either reveal to Kesh and Drack or cover up once more.

a direct sequel of The Archon Arc a fRyder/Jaal Ama Darav story.  This is the most ambitious long fic I’ve written
She is Sara Ryder - the Shield of Meridian, the human Pathfinder. She has earned her scars and her reputation.
But strip her to her core, who is she? Who is Sara Ryder, not the Pathfinder, not the Shield of Meridian?
The Cetus Arc is where you get to know her as a human, daughter and sister.

I feel like Tann is better suited as a skinny lil frog tho. maybe with some teeeeny tiny biceps if he really tries

You know those tiktok comps of classes pranking their professors during zoom calls? Imagine that with a conference call between tann, the tempest crew, the other pathfinders and nexus leaders and they all just troll the hell out of tann XD
I’ve never seen those tiktok (I feel old :D) but I would honestly watch the hell out of that because Tann being trolled just makes me so damn happy. Not in a “I hate the guy and he deserves it” way but in a good-natured “he’s just easy to get riled up” way.

Day #02
The Nexus. Meeting the Andromeda Initiative leaders.
Tumblr media
🎶 Lost in Space - Avantasia
We landed at the Nexus, still shaken and shocked by what happened upon our arrival, hoping to find friendly faces and a safe harbour where we can lick our wounds, instead they threw the harsh reality in our face without too many pleasantries.
Apparently what happened to the Hyperion Ark also happened to the Nexus upon its arrival in the Andromeda galaxy and all the other "Golden Worlds" turned out to be hostiles just like Habitat 7. No functioning outpost and no resources to exploit. That's why everyone's tired and pissed off and that's why Addison seems to have a poisonous snake up her ass.
Foster Addison, the Director of Colonial Affairs, with no colonies to oversee. I can't blame her, after all. She expected a pathfinder capable and skilfully, able to solve every problem, equipped with a magic wand to heal the infected planets. She expected to see my father, and instead she has to be satisfied with me, his young and inexperienced daughter, suddenly forced to wear clothes that are too big for her size.
The other leaders of the Initiative seem more cordial, or at least they didn't jump on my neck as soon as they saw me.
Nakmor Kesh, the Nexus Superintendent, seemed almost thrilled to finally be able to turn on the station lights thanks to the backup power provided by Hyperion. I'd swear I'd seen her bounce on her feet back to her office if she wasn't a nearly half-ton Krogan. The only Krogan of the Nexus for the truth, and the reason is simple: we may be millions of light years away from the Milky Way, but we cannot escape from what we are. Krogan will always be seen as violent and mindless animals, only good for fighting, no matter how far they can escape from Tuchanka.
Tiran Kandros is perhaps the only living being of Andromeda to have understood exactly how I feel, maybe because it's thanks to a series of unfortunate events, such as those that have happened to me, that he is now the Security Chief in charge. Funny, considering that it is a Turian, the first species against which humans fought just outside their borders, and towards which there was still a certain distrust when we left the Milky Way.
And what about our illustrious Director of Initiative, Jarun Tann, weasel and treacherous, like most of the salarians I know. His mask of fake friendliness makes me sick, worse than Addison's insults. At least she is not afraid to say things as they are, she does not hide behind false promises and beautiful words. He too, like me and Kandros, found himself in the center of attention by pure coincidence, but unlike us he never took a bath of humility, almost as if his position was a due act, despite being a simple accountant up to 14 months earlier. “Number 8”, as Kesh calls him, fits perfectly: eighth in the line of succession. He expects me to save his ass more than anyone else, because it's clear that he does not enjoy the esteem and trust he would like to receive from other leaders. I think they see him as part of the Initiative's failure, although, in fact, it's not his fault.
Jien Garson should have been at his place and instead the founder of the entire project died without even being able to see the Andromeda galaxy with her own eyes. She died in her sleep, inside her cryogenic pod, together with her closest collaborators.
Dead, like my father. The two of them were the real faces of the Initiative, the engine that drove us this far. We are nothing more than reserves and we must adapt to living with waste.
No wonder they also had to face a riot on board months ago. Even I get the feeling that I've been jerked around by coming here.
I admit that I envy them a little, the exiles, wherever they are, I'm sure it's a better place than this. And if it exists, I am determined to find it.
