If you were to rewrite Jackson, would you still implement the love triangle? If so, would you make it more of an unrequited love or would you truly explore Jayley? If not, what type of role would you have him play?
TGW outtake suggestion:
In chapter 30 (I think) it mentioned Elijah never called Hayley for her birthday, and knowing Elijah, he’d probably feel guilty about this. So I’m thinking this could start from the dinner Hayley, Elijah, and astra we’re having together and at the end of the dinner, Elijah pulls astra aside and tells her that he wants to plan this whole day out as a surprise to celebrate her birthday. Then the next day could be them doing all sorts of activities and Elijah giving her some sort of expensive gift or something.
That explanation sucked, basically just Elijah plans a day to celebrate Hayley’s birthday because he feels guilty that he missed it.
If I was the writer from the beginning, I would have gotten rid of any love triangles. I've said it before, I don't like them. They are unnecessarily messy. Especially in a show like TO where the plot is so heavy. It worked better in TVD because the show centered more around the relationships. Most of the enemies were part of the romantic drama. But TO was focused on family and the enemies were typically after power or revenge. There wasn't time for messy relationship drama. I would have preferred for the show to have established relationships that could have been partners/supported each other throughout the show.
I've loved Nathan Parsons since before TO even existed so I was so excited to see him in TO. Fun fact, he was one of my first male crushes. I was then super disappointed to see his character be so underutilized and underdeveloped. I would have introduced him as alpha of the pack without the arranged marriage. I know many cultures have arranged marriages and that is great as long as everyone wants it. Hayley was not comfortable with it and said it multiple times. I hated that the show just kept going down that path and introduced the arranged marriage again in season 2 just under a different name, the "unification." If I was in charge, the women would have much more autonomy in the show.
I would have kept the warring family idea and even had Jackson be warry of Hayley's sudden appearance. This girl who is supposedly the long-lost "princess" of the pack shows up, pregnant by their enemies, and living with the Mikaelsons. Hayley would have had to earn his respect as well as the packs, but once she did, he would teach her the pack's history. I would also make him a better alpha. I don't think I would make him more politically minded because I would have played more into the fact that he has spent his entire adult life as a wolf because of the curse. He would have leaned on Hayley who naturally seemed to know how to make allies with the other factions. Instead of a marriage to fix the rift in the pack, Jackson and Hayley would have created a bond based on mutual respect and love for the pack. They would have introduced the idea of co-alphas without needing it to be romantic or sexual.
I hate when shows can't allow opposite gender individuals to just work together without it being romantic or sexual. I love a good friendship. That is one of my biggest complaints about TVDU. It created such great friendships but instead of developing them, it focused on the romantic drama. The friendships/found families in New Orleans were what was going to save it from war. You have Marcel and Davina, Vincent and Cami, Cami and Marcel, Vincent and Freya, etc. These bonds that transcended the factions was what saved them over and over. But the wolves are left out of that since, after Jackson died Hayley basically forgot about the pack. They could have done it with Eve, but she died to early. It would have been nice to see Jackson forming those bonds with the other factions, starting with Hayley.
I wouldn't do an unrequited love storyline. These always just make me sad. I know it happens in real life but that's why I love fiction, I don't need to add any unnecessary pain that way (I know that's ironic coming from me). If I did explore Jayley, I would have actually shown them developing feelings for each other. Show Hayley being torn between her feelings. And then shown that even if you love someone and try to make it work, for various reasons, it may not. This doesn't mean it was bad or one of the partners was "evil." In real life, relationships don't work out, it doesn't make the relationship any less important or impactful.
I truly do think Jackson deserved better from the writers. This is why *spoilers for my story, The Great War* I had jayley end the way they did. It was on Jackson's terms. I know some people thought it was out of character, and maybe it was for the show, but that's the point. Jackson is supposed to be a strong leader, yet he couldn't stand up for himself in the show. He gave Hayley ultimatums instead of setting boundaries and then just left when it got hard. They needed to have a real conversation. So in my story, when they did have this real conversation, they realized they were never going to get what they wanted out of the relationship. Jackson deserved to be able to set his boundaries and get away from the Mikaelsons. He deserved to have a love that isn't forced or manipulated. It's why I didn't kill him. I hated that so many characters were sacrificed just to push certain ships or push the Mikaelson story forward (RIP Gia).
I have already written an outtake for chapter 30 but I do love this idea. And y'all know I love writing haylijah. I'm not sure when I'll get it done but I will definitely write this!
Thanks for the ask and the suggestion!

Your right! I wonder what was going through his mind when he was sleeping next to Gia, He did not look very happy, I still didn't like the way he was playing with her hair!, and Jackson just Ick, I did not like him at all!, someone needed to call him out with all the manipulation, Hayley never found out about all the shit he said to Elijah!, and so in season 4 when she was in the Bayou saying she should have chose him! WTH, were the writers thinking do they not remember what a manipulator he was
Nah i was more of a fan of Jackson than Gia. Actualy during season 2 he was getting on my nerves but i started to like him in season 3 (before he dies) when he finaly understood that Hayley loved him and had tried to love him but she also was in love with Elijah. In a way jayley didn’t bothered me so much because i knew that Hayley would be in love with Elijah no matter her marriage. The truth is Jackson was better for her hich made her love for Elijah even stronger. I mean “Hayley honney you are married to a guy who always has your back who is a good guy and a good step father figure and you are still in love with someone else? Yeap honney you can’t let go of Elijah that easy”
I wasn’t mad when she said that she should of have wanted Jackson because he was better for Hope cause like…Duh? That’s the whole point. The Mikaelsons have enemies and a dark past. Hope definately is safer next to mortals and honestly i don’t understand why they chose to play that card again, they did that in s2 ans 3 hen Jackson was “the perfect partner and step dad” and Hayley remained very much in love with Elijah.
Other than that I ship Jackson and Freya and I will forever be bitter they didn’t happen

does it not kind rub you up wrong that that's 2 men now hayley has been with who she's spoken to about not wanting klaus in hopes life? first with jackson, which yes she did apologise for but then to basically say the same to elijah, joking or not, twice this season now wanting to live separately from klaus with elijah and hope, and we've had more little family scenes with haylope + jackson and haylope + elijah than we have klopeley and idk hayley's just disgusting me with it rn (1/2)
and I feel like it's a step back for her character? like i *know* it was a joke that klaus could only visit on weekends but then she talks later on about setting up home with elijah and they're setting the family up in this awkward position because they can't all live together under the same roof forever but she seems so keen to have it so she gets hope + elijah and leaves klaus out in the cold with freya to *lol* visit his own damn child on weekends *hahaha* like yes hayley so funny (2/2)
I just want to take this moment to say that I really find it hilarious that the writers want to pretend to be so progressive in the narrative by not pushing an idea that Klaus and hayley can be happy together as a family and instead highlight how Hayley wants to have a happy future with her daughter and her uncle.
It’s ESPECIALLY hilarious when they actually did have the chance to tell a progressive story about blended familes when they had Jackson on the show and they ended up making that a  dysfunctional mess that ultimately ended in Jackson dying so they could put hayley back with Elijah.
I had my issues with Jayley as a relationship and Jackson, but most of that was because Jackson was a simp and made Hayley weak. Despite those issues Jackson actually did love Hope like a good step parent should. They could have really explored how Hayley and Jackson try to carve out some happiness while raising Hope with Klaus. They could have showed how klaus has to hope with possibly now living with his daughter full time and having to truly share custody of her with Hayley and Jackson and how he copes with Hope having a secondary make figure in her life as she grows up. They could have shows the difficulties and the moments where they make it all work for Hope. They could have showed Hayley truly actually building a life with her husband and her daughter
and yet the story we got in season 3 was one where Hayley and Jackson fought over the mikaelsons and elijah, we never say any of them truly try to handle the shifting family dynamics, we never say klaus struggling to cope with Hope living away from him, we got boring haylijah angst and then Jackson suddenly going along with whatever Hayley wanted until he ultimately died and then she promptly moved on with Elijah by seasons end and now we are 5 years later and trying to sell a story where  Hayley wants to live away in bliss with her daughter and her uncle while Klaus I’m assuming just says “I’m cool with weekends”
It’s comical to say the least

If Hayley and Elijah had been together prior to the arranged marriage thing between Hayley and Jackson was brought up, how do you think things would have differed? Would Hayley had still went through with it, and if so, how would the dynamic between Hayley/jackson and Hayley/elijah have changed? Would Elijah had still told her to marry him? What do you think Klaus would’ve done/suggested?
Tumblr media
I think it would change a lot but also nothing. It would have made it even more tragic that Hayley and Elijah were being torn apart if they had actually been in an established relationship. It also would have made it harder for the love triangle to exist.
To me, the writers weren't sure what they were doing with the love triangle. All they knew is they wanted one. When TO came out, every single romance in media just had to have a love triangle. Season 1, they toyed with a klayley/haylijah love triangle or a jayley/haylijah love triangle. By season 2, they seemed to toss klayley aside, probably because they already had a whole show devoted to a girl choosing between brothers. Also it would make it hard since they were so focused on expanding Elijah's obsession with Klaus.
I hate love triangles but the jayley/haylijah could have been a good dynamic if it was done well. And it wasn't.
Hayley wasn't just torn between two men but what each of them offered. Jackson offered her a simple life at the head of her pack. He represented everything she could have had if she had grown up with her family. While Elijah represented her new family and everything she had become as a hybrid. These two dynamics really should have been explored more and would have allowed Hayley to be the complex character she is.
I think a big reason it wasn't done well was because Nathan Parsons (Jackson) started getting casted in other roles. So instead of showing Hayley struggling between the two, Hayley had a clear choice. We didn't really even see much of her relationship with Jackson until after they were married. So based on what we saw, without the necessity of the unification ceremony, Hayley would not have chosen Jackson. She and Elijah may have taken a little longer to get together because they are stubborn, but that was always where she was headed. If Klaus would have gotten out of the way earlier in Season 1 and haylijah would have truly gotten together, he still would have told her to go forward with the unification ceremony because he knew how important getting Hope back was to Hayley, and how important it was to himself.
Hayley went to Elijah so he would tell her not to do it. She calls him before she agrees to the unification, but because he doesn't answer, she goes forward with it. Then when she tells him, you can see the devastation and surprise on her face that he is telling her to do it. It would be so much more devastating and surprising if they had been together for all of those months. Elijah would have stepped back and ended their relationship, or at least tried to, so that Hayley would have the chance at the happy, simple life Jackson was offering. The biggest difference would be in Hayley.
Hayley wouldn't have let Elijah end things, but she would have set a more clear boundary with Jackson. I will admit that she gave him a lot of mixed signals. But with her relationship with Elijah, there would be a clear line telling everyone the unification was just for the pack rather than some confusion on what Hayley expected out of it. I also never bought the whole argument that they had to "live as a married couple" for the unification to work. Jackson moved out for a month and the pack didn't lose their powers. They were living as wolves for six months and the pack was still connected to Hayley. So who's to say that Hayley and Elijah couldn't have been together as long as Jackson and Hayley were both representing the pack. Does the magic of the unification ceremony care or even know if it's an open marriage? There clearly wasn't a requirement that the marriage had to be consummated. So what does it mean that they had to "act as a married couple" if they didn't have to be sexually together or even living together? It just seemed like a convenient way to insert Jackson in between Hayley and Elijah. Again, stripping Hayley of her ability to choose.
I'm also still confused how exactly the unification is supposed to work. Because when Hayley was cursed, supposedly the whole pack was got cursed too because Jackson's heart was a mirror of hers and that controlled the pack. Does that mean when Hayley's wolf side was bound, did the pack lose their wolf abilities? Or did it just sever the connection? Did Jackson's death sever their power? This wouldn't make sense since the unification was supposed to be how werewolf packs had different abilities initially but then all ended up the same because of so many inter-pack marriages and the powers were passed down to next generations. This is a side tangent, but the magic never made sense to me.
I think it would have been an interesting dynamic for Hayley and Elijah to be together but her to be "unified" with Jackson. It would have forced Jackson to think more like an alpha rather than a jealous husband. He would have known from the start he wasn't going to get the romantic relationship from Hayley, so he would have focused more on what the ties to the Mikaelsons could do for the pack. My biggest complaint with the pack is that none of them act politically except Aiden. Instead of allowing Klaus to manipulate the pack, Jackson could have used the connection to get help for the pack. Instead of treating Hayley like a figurehead "Queen," they could have focused on what it meant to have a woman from two factions who was tied to one of the most powerful players in the war, on their side. TO was so good at putting relationships on the back burner to focus on the family/storylines, except when it came to the werewolves.
Klaus would have done the exact same thing. The issue with the Originals is they live forever. They have no concept of pain, emotional or physical, because they will always live long enough to get over it. Klaus doesn't hesitate to murder the people his siblings love because he knows eventually they will heal and forgive him. So Klaus would still have put pressure on Hayley to go through with it because he wanted Hope back and he wanted power over the wolves.
I think it would have been a really compelling storyline and given the werewolves the chance to be a bigger player in the war between factions.
Thanks for the ask! It has been too long since I've talked about haylijah on here <3

MODA BRINGS THE AW20 FASHION COMMUNITY TO LIFE AND CONFIRMS SHOW DATES FOR THE LONG-TERM FUTURE
As the doors close on a successful AW20 season at Moda, the heart of UK fashion and the National Footwear Show, its organisers Hyve Group plc have committed to the show’s long-term future at the NEC Birmingham securing future dates which are aligned with all of its key sector buying calendars.
Adam Gough, Event Director at Moda said; “Following this season’s date clash with Micam and change of dates, we felt the industry needed a clear commitment from Moda to a long-term future that works effectively for the majority. Moda is one of the UK’s longest standing fashion trade shows, with a massive 59% of visitors attending the show for over 20 years, so we’re really pleased to return to our traditional date line from SS21. Despite local and global turbulence in the market, Moda plans to stand strong acting as a bridge between the UK, the EU, and the rest of the world. All of the team will continue to strive to provide the best possible platform for our exhibitors and experience for our visitors.”
Designed to bring the entire fashion community together, the new look Moda layout saw the show’s Neighbourhoods brought to life. Moda Woman showcased the best of womenswear including occasionwear, ready-to-wear, and young fashion. Moda Accessories will be refreshed for SS21 with an exciting line-up of leading accessories, jewellery and lifestyle brands. Moda Boutique, the new premium edit was a big hit amongst buyers and will return for SS21. Moda Footwear saw the UK’s largest gathering of footwear brands with a comprehensive edit of contemporary, classic, sport, and fashion footwear. Little Soles launched this season and was a must-visit for children’s footwear buyers. New for SS21, Moda Made will align the entire footwear supply chain bringing suppliers and manufacturers together with brands and buyers.
Dedicated Speed Networking sessions over the three days saw over 2000 meetings and introductions between brands and buyers facilitating new relationships. David Barber, Sales Director from exhibitor Charles Birch Ltd said; “I do a lot of orders at speed networking, more than at my stand. Thank you for doing it. It is amazing.”
Steven John Bruce from William Bruce Footwear store added; “We have been coming to Moda for a very long time. I think the speed networking is very good. We actually joined the session last year as well. It got even better this year. I met a mix of people and products. We had a great time!”
Other exciting new buyer initiatives for the AW20 season included The Club which brought relevant buyers with strong buying power to the show, and an exclusive hosted dinner and Retail Safari to Selfridges Birmingham guided by Joanna Kinsey, Customer Experience Manager of Selfridges, including a walk through Selfridges new concept, networking, and insightful discussions on customer loyalty, sustainability, new loan programmes, live events and new brands at the Birmingham store.
Corinne Smith from Logues store in Galway, Ireland said; “Moda is the key show for our fashion buy, we come every season. We’re part of The Club and really enjoyed the benefits including the convenience, and all the amenities the team offer. Added extras like the Speed Networking are fab, we met some great new brands, and we loved the Selfridges Retail Safari – it was a real eye opener to get insights into how it all works and the networking was really useful.”
The Selfridges Experience content session with Joanna at Moda earlier in the day delved into Selfridges’ customer service initiatives including insider insight into how they build memorable experiences, explore new retail concepts, and build a loyalty programme based on value not level of discount.
A compelling line-up of footwear, accessories and womenswear brands filled Halls 6, 7 and 8 with many commenting on the quality of buyers in attendance. Exhibitor Matthew Rowley from Jayley Collection said: “It is a privilege to be part of the Moda woman’s catwalk, showcasing our fabulous new collections. We’ve had a fantastic show with a record-breaking number of orders, serving many long- term customers, opening new strategic accounts including leading department stores and stunning independents. We’re really pleased with Moda this season.”
The National Footwear Show launched the new season collections from over 150 brands. Ashley Cummings, UK Agent from exhibitor Fly London said: “We’re pleased with the quantity and quality of buyers at the show this season. The industry needs to stand together to build a compelling offer for buyers and The National Footwear Show at Moda is making a huge effort to support us.”
Moda continued its collaboration with De Montfort University for a second year running.  The History in the Making Footwear Design Competition is an exciting initiative showcasing incredible young talent and the future of footwear design.
Lisa Govier, Director of Footwear at Moda said at the Award Ceremony on Sunday evening: “We’re delighted to be collaborating with De Montfort University once again with our “History in the Making” footwear design competition. A big thank you to De Montfort for bringing this exciting initiative, which showcases some incredible young talent, to life. The History in the Making brief is set for all final year students, as the last task in their degree. They were asked to design and develop a range of footwear that interprets the broad spectrum of ‘heritage’ incorporating fashion influences, materials and colour trends for the Autumn/Winter 20 season. The creative output and craftsmanship was staggering and this season.”
Finn Taberer was announced winner. The judges said Finn designed a shoe that is credible and that they could see on the marketplace, what consumers are looking for in the current climate, with a focus on sustainability that is important to Moda and increasingly important to the fashion industry and society as a whole.
Moda SS21 takes place on the 2nd – 4th August at the NEC Birmingham, offering the industry the ultimate environment for buying, networking, trends, and inspiration. Visit www.moda-uk.co.uk for further information. For further press information or images contact: Philippa Suitters at Good Results PR: [email protected] or call 0203 397 5180 / 07866 362980
