Jercy Week Day 2: Co-Praetors - @jercy-events

Camp Jupiter's new Praetors!

set in an AU where Poseidon is less of a dead-beat, Percy grows up in New Rome, the events of PJO still happen and Percy and Jason fall for each other along the way

more detailed plot behind this AU:

Pre-TLT:

when Poseidon learns about Gabe's abuse he offers Sally an alternative way to keep Percy safe - he reveals the Romans, New Rome and Camp Jupiter where Sally and Percy can still be together but no longer be in danger

in desperation, Sally agrees. she doesn't enrol Percy in Camp Jupiter though, wanting him to have as normal as a childhood as possible

Percy hears about Jason (it's hard not to) but they never get the chance speak - Sally was warned to not let them cross paths in fear of Zeus or Hera picking up on Percy's identity

TLT:

Percy's now 12, the lightning bolt gets stolen, Poseidon gets blamed

Sally and Percy happened to be on a trip outside the boarders when the Minotaur attacks. the events unfold the same and Sally gets taken by Hades just before they make it back

Percy joins Camp Jupiter as a Son of Neptune where he meets Jason. the tensions between the two of them are high though due to their dads fighting

Zeus clocks in on Percy's existence and the TLT quest is issued. Percy has to go while Jason is made to go with him. it occurs differently but they still succeed and their friendship starts to blossom

this is also when Percy learns he's actually a Greek demigod but he's sworn himself to the legion and he remains in Camp Jupiter

SOM + TTC:

Sea of Monsters happens on the Greek side. Jason and Percy are getting closer in Camp Jupiter

Titans Curse happens too although, when they get to Mount Othrys, Percy and Jason are there scouting out the recent disruptions. Percy notices Artemis under the sky and breaks the rules to step in, taking the sky and earning his grey streak. Jason steps in after him, unable to let him go in alone and helps fight

afterwards, Percy and Jason agree to help work with the Greek side to defeat Kronos but they can't risk telling the rest of Camp Jupiter - they have bigger wars to fight that's not each other right now

Thalia and Jason have their reunion before she goes to Olympus although she still becomes a Hunter, passing the prophecy on

when they return to Camp Jupiter, Percy confesses to Jason about the fact he's actually Greek. it causes some tension between them as Jason believes he's been tricked/lied to but he invites him over to Sally's and Jason learns the full story

BOTL:

BOTL happens with Annabeth leading per usual but Percy and Jason sneak off to help in the labyrinth

Percy still 'dies' and ends up on Ogygia (crashing a distraught Jason instead) and still brings in Rachel (as they met in Goode)

Jason and Percy meet Nico and Percy comes to realises he's the prophecy kid. under the determination to not let the prophecy be about Jason or Nico, he announces his age and Greek status to the group

Kronos rises per usual. Percy and Jason end up going to Camp Half-Blood with the others to help fight. before they leave, Percy confesses to Chiron he's actually a Son of Poseidon and that he prophecy is about him. Chiron tries to get him to stay in Camp Half-Blood but Percy's home (and Jason) is in New Rome/Camp Jupiter

Percy and Jason try and spend as much time together as possible between the two summers, knowing there is an end coming to their friendship that's also been blooming with romantic feelings neither of them dare to speak about - this is also when Jason gets his glasses as Sally notices him struggle

TLO:

Nico still tells Percy about the Styx. Percy still bathes in the Styx and Jason becomes his mortal tether

Jason leads the battle on Mount Othrys with the other Romans while Percy goes off to help fight with the Greeks in the one on Olympus thanks to being the prophecy kid

Percy denies immortality and forces the Gods to be less shit to honour Luke's, Ethan's etc. dying wishes per usual and that, along with his aid in their fight, earns him respect within Camp Half-Blood/the Greeks

Percy returns to Camp Jupiter afterwards though, losing his Achilles Curse to reunite with Jason and them both being so relieved to see each other alive

Percy confesses to his Greek identity to the Roman's, his part in defeating Kronos and that he's still loyal to Camp Jupiter. when some of the Romans attempt to fight back, Jason owns up to knowing too, pushes Percy to confess Poseidon sent him to New Rome in the first place and aids in winning over the Romans in still trusting Percy

the recognition of Jason and Percy's efforts in the destruction of Kronos earn them their promotion to Praetors

and Percy kisses Jason's cheek cause hey, he's not dying anymore so he can confess to his crush now (and then Jason and Percy are found kissing somewhere quieter later on in the ceremony)

whereas immortality is something incompatible with percy because he has too much to give up—his mom, his friends, maybe his desire for normalcy and to get away from the gods..

i think immortality might be good for jason. a completely boring life where he's just one of the many minor gods. he doesn't mind getting unnoticed after yrs of being held on a pedestal as one of the rare demigods his father had sired. he doesn't mind being alone since he never really created deep connections when he was a mortal.

he has nothing to lose, nothing to gain—he just is.
