"The Grand Tour - One for the Road" painting by me. ♥︎
My tribute painting for the best show ever! ♡ Thanks to Richard, Jeremy and James for everything they did just to make me laugh in front of the telly! Of course I will continue watching re-runs (as I always did, because I came waaaayyyy too late to this fandom) and every single solo show, because they are brilliant as well.
I thought a sunset setting with their cars in the salt flats might be the best scenery for a farewell painting, like this one. And yes, I've drawn them a bit younger on purpose, because...I don't know, they looked so cute I didn't want to change it after inking everything...˘◡˘:
Anyway, I hope you like my painting! I'm already getting tissues ready to be prepared for Friday, 13th T^T
Regarding my Grand Tour arts and comic stories, don't worry! The show might be over, but I still have so much to paint, write and create, also lots of commissions I'm still working on - I will never stop!!! ♡
Have their pretty faces zoomed-in plus some work-in-progress steps I'd love to add:

Legacy Stats Check on The Big O: The Final Act
Me: Hey, it's May, let me do a legacy stat check on my fanfic and see where the numbers are at in total views from each of the websites...
Fanfic - 1439 Archive - 435 Wattpad - 256 Quotev - 60 DeviantArt - 1563 Dreamkle - 156 Webnovel - 5695
Total views: 9,604 *spits out tea*
It hasn't been a year since I started writing this bad boy, LET ALONE, a year since I first published the first story... Y'all... can I just say you're great and fantastic fans, friends, and supporters of the series??? Like, I didn't get the best news yesterday and this....
I've NEVER had something I wrote reach 10,000 views, let alone in a series that has almost a cult-like status. It's always so cool when I post a clip of Big O for a question like, "What's that best fight scene that had you..." etc. and people are like, "WHOA, BIG O! I haven't seen that in forever!" And, it really warms my heart to read those comments and then see people bookmark the tweet to refer back to it. And then to get comments or messages like, "You wrote a fanfic series about Big O?" and then people read it... Y'all are AMAZING! Again, thank you so much for the support. It means a lot. I wonder if I can get to 10,000 views before my Twitter Birthday (I wonder if I can get that many before my 1 year fitness journey). I've posted my linktree as it has all of my profiles in one area. If you haven't checked it out, well, here you go! Y'all, thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It means so much.

 The End of an Era
There are some moments in life that leave a lasting impact on us, not because they were groundbreaking or world-changing, but because they brought us joy, laughter, and memories that shaped the way we see things. For many of us, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have done just that whether it was through their antics, their banter, or their undeniably chaotic chemistry behind the wheel.
From the early days of Top Gear in 2002 to the roaring success of The Grand Tour, this trio has been a constant source of entertainment, and with their journey coming to a close this September, it’s hard not to feel a twinge of sadness.
But as the saying goes, “Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened.” And what a ride it’s been. The Beginning of an Era: Top Gear (2002)
When Top Gear relaunched in 2002 with Jeremy Clarkson at the helm, no one could have predicted the cultural phenomenon it would become.
Clarkson’s brash, unapologetic style combined with Richard Hammond’s charm and James May’s methodical approach quickly turned the show from a run-of-the-mill car program into an adventure that was as much about the presenters as it was about the cars. It wasn’t just about reviewing vehicles anymore; it was about pushing them to their limits, taking ridiculous road trips across continents, and engaging in epic challenges that often ended in disaster (or at least, near disaster).
Week after week, we were glued to the screen, not necessarily to learn about the latest Ferrari or Lamborghini, but to see what absurd escapade Clarkson, Hammond, and May had gotten themselves into this time. Their chemistry was undeniable each one brought something different to the table, and together they created something magical.
Top Gear wasn’t just a show about cars, it was a show about friendship, adventure, and the art of pushing boundaries.
After a controversial departure from Top Gear, Clarkson, Hammond, and May made their triumphant return in 2016 with The Grand Tour. With a new platform on Amazon Prime, they had more creative freedom than ever before, and they took full advantage of it. The production values skyrocketed, the locations became more exotic, and the challenges even more outrageous. The Grand Tour was like Top Gear on steroids—a bigger, bolder version of everything we loved about the original show.
But at its core, it was still about three men who loved cars, who loved teasing each other, and who loved embarking on ridiculous adventures together. From traversing the Namib Desert in beach buggies to building their own boats in Vietnam, Clarkson, Hammond, and May took us along for the ride once again, reminding us why we fell in love with their brand of chaos in the first place.
And now, in September 2024, the journey is coming to an end. After over two decades of laughter, crashes, road trips, and heart-pounding moments, it’s hard to believe that the adventures of Clarkson, Hammond, and May are drawing to a close. Their legacy, however, will live on—not just in the episodes of Top Gear and The Grand Tour, but in the way they’ve changed the way we see cars, travel, and friendship.
Their unique blend of humour, wit, and genuine camaraderie has been a breath of fresh air in the world of automotive entertainment, and they’ve inspired a generation of car enthusiasts who see the world of motoring not just as a hobby, but as a way of life.
From Clarkson’s larger-than-life persona to Hammond’s unyielding optimism and May’s meticulousness, they’ve shown us that cars are more than just machines—they’re a means of exploration, a way to connect with others, and sometimes, a way to create lifelong memories.
As I reflect on the countless hours spent watching them race across deserts, destroy caravans, and try (and often fail) to complete seemingly impossible challenges, I can’t help but feel grateful. Grateful for the laughter, the excitement, and the moments of pure joy that Clarkson, Hammond, and May have given us over the years.
I find it very hard to come to the realisation that I was nine years old when I started watching them. Now heading towards thirty two in March next year.
So, as their chapter comes to a close, I’ll be hitting the replay button. I’ll be rewatching Top Gear from 2002, reminiscing about the early days when everything felt fresh and new. Then, I’ll dive into The Grand Tour, reliving the adventures that took them to the farthest corners of the earth. It’s not just about reliving the past—it’s about celebrating everything they’ve given us.
In the words of Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” And I’m smiling, because Clarkson, Hammond, and May gave us something truly special. They took us on a wild ride, and even though that ride is coming to an end, the memories will last forever.
To the trio who changed the way we see cars and reminded us that life is better with a bit of chaos—thank you.

Jeremy Clarkson made a comment in the Sun Newspaper this week: “dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while crowds chant, Shame! and throw lumps of excrement at her.” This went on to become to most complained at column with over 20,000 complaints. The Sun yesterday published an apology for which Harry and Meghan say that “This is nothing more than a PR stunt…. "The Grand Tour - Sand Job" painting by me. ♥︎
For the new episode I decided to draw James, Jeremy and Richard with their more than cool sports cars (at least for me) in the Sahara. Fingers crossed that their fast cars will get them out of the desert with speed and power...
I hope you like my painting! And I'm looking forward watching the second last, but new episode on Prime Video on the 16th!
In loving memory of my dear friend Iris. This is for you and I hope there's the biggest Prime streaming screen in heaven, as I can't accept that this is the first episode of the trio without you. I miss you ♥︎.

"The trouble is, a racing car is just a collection of hopes and dreams until it gets on the track."
Tumblr media
James May, a well-known British television presenter, journalist, and author, is best recognized for his work in automotive journalism. Here are five interesting things about him:
Top Gear and The Grand Tour: James May is best known for co-presenting the popular motoring show "Top Gear" alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond from 2003 to 2015. After their departure from the BBC, the trio launched "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime Video, continuing their exploration of cars and travel with the same humour and chemistry that made them famous.
Nickname "Captain Slow": May earned the nickname "Captain Slow" due to his cautious driving style, especially compared to the more aggressive approaches of his co-presenters. Despite this, he has a deep knowledge of cars and a genuine passion for motoring.
Engineering and Early Career: James May studied music at Lancaster University before beginning his career in journalism. He has a keen interest in engineering and has written for various publications, including Autocar and The Daily Telegraph. He even designed a Lego house for a BBC show, showcasing his engineering and creative skills.
Documentaries and Interests: Beyond cars, May has presented several documentaries covering diverse topics such as science, technology, and history. His shows include "James May's Toy Stories," where he explores classic toys and attempts ambitious projects with them, and "James May: Our Man in Japan," a travel documentary series where he explores Japanese culture.
Author and Columnist: In addition to his television work, James May is an accomplished author. He has written several books on cars and other subjects, such as "James May's Car Fever" and "James May: Oh Cook! 60 Easy Recipes That Any Idiot Can Make," the latter of which ties into his cooking show, "Oh Cook!" on Amazon Prime, where he demonstrates his cooking skills.
