Thoughts on Kalim/yan!Kalim

Kalim is actually such a great character personality-vise, it honestly frustrates me how much the fandom mischaracterises him. He is just as traumatised as everyone else, if not more. The fact that his whole personality doesn't revolve around his trauma doesn't makes him stupid or ignorant. He's been kidnapped, poisoned, betrayed by his own family members (and there is probably more things he been through), he lost his trust in people. His happy personality may be a trauma responce, but even then he's more emotionally mature that everyone gives him credit for. Take as example Jamils overblot: Kalim got betrayed by the only person he trusted, he was heartbroken, yes, but he didin't wanna lose completely the only person he build up his trust to. He decided to keep his (probably one-sided) friendship with Jamil because he was the one protecting Kalim (something that noone else has done) for his whole life. He understands that he can't just lose it. Kalim hosting parties and caring for people around him in his own way is his way of showing people they can trust him, that he won't harm them, that he and his dorm are a safe space (something only Jamil gave him) so noone will feel as he did.

Almost the same goes to yan!Kalim. He is not just a silly all-forgiving type of yandere, he is more on the protective side, I think. Like when he loves his darling, of course he wouldn't want them to go through something even remotedly similar to what he had to go through.. He probably will be with them 24/7 to ensure their safety, if he can't - he will leave Jamil to look after them, as he is the most trustable person in his eyes.

Kalims mischaracterisation remind me a lot of UnderSwap Sans and Blueberry situation, where fandom sees a happy and somewhat mentally healthy character and reduses their whole personality to just being a silly ignorant guy. And this version becomes more popular in the fandom than the original character, which is quite sad.

WIP!!! SORRY FOR TAKING A WHILE...

For the past few days, I have been unable to bring myself to drawing and posting artwork, even worse, class is coming VERY SOON, so I have one other thing I'm willing to post for now besides this WIP. I'm not really sure if I can continue working on the TLTIV AU as my interest in Project Arrhythmia is slowly declining, which isn't good because I only got to completing the designs for Nano (they're called Trinity in my AU btw) and Jestar so I'm kinda upset about halting the AU while it's THAT incomplete. I'm not really feeling the best in general so please don't expect me to post that much after August.

Anyways, onto the topic! There will be hints to TLTIV Jestar's past (and light redesign). I'll finish the drawing digitally! (Don't mind the Aveline drawing in the background, it's a draft of her redesign that led to her ref sheet that I've posted a while ago)
