[2012]
“Why?! Why would you do that?! Are you out of your mind?!”
JiHyun’s loud voice followed me as I tried to leave the living room to walk toward our shared bedroom. Though JiHyun had only followed me into our room and locked the door behind him.
After months of nonstop school, practices, and trying to adjust to Seoul all by myself. The last thing I needed was someone who didn’t understand my situation to come and scold me about the decisions I’ve made.
I let my body go limp as I lay star-shaped on my bed. The sheets engulfed my body with its familiar comforting scent as I buried my face into the fabric.
“Jimin, I need you to be serious.” JiHyun sat down on a space on my bed and I could feel his eyes burn into the back of my skull.
“It’s hyung to you. Remember your honori—“
“I don’t give a fuck! Why? Why would you do that?! Did you seriously dump the girl of your dreams? And for what?!”
I don’t know what angered me more. The fact that my younger brother interrupted me, cursed at me, was being unreasonably loud, or scolding me for a decision he didn’t even know the reasons for.
I could have punched him in the face and we can finally see which one of us had the black belt in Taekwondo. But I was exhausted.
The trip from Seoul was filled with me doing homework that kept me wide awake, and the dance practice and workout I’d been doing just the day prior were weighing on me. I thought a weekend stay in Busan was a way for me to finally enjoy some peace and escape from my own thoughts, yet here I was on my first night getting bombarded by questions and getting scolded by my own younger brother. I was just thankful my parents hadn’t said anything despite their faces falling to the floor when I showed disinterest in Areum leaving for America and told them that we had broken up prior to that.
Perhaps going home was a bad idea. The rest of the boys were staying at the dorm. Some only opt to go back home in two weeks, when it would be Christmas and New Year. Though some had already said that they would be celebrating at the dorm if anybody didn’t want to go home. Maybe I should take them up on that offer, though I have a feeling that Christmas was going to be tougher for me this year. It brought tears to my eyes thinking about last year when everything was fine. How did it all go so bad in just a year?
“Hyung.”
JiHyun’s voice reminded me that I wasn’t alone as I exhaled and sat up though I avoided his eyes.
“It was for the better, JiHyun…”
“Breaking up isn’t ‘for the better’, Hyung. I thought you loved each other.” JiHyun’s voice cracked as I looked up to see tears brimming his eyes and a frown fighting on his lips.
“We did— I still do. I will never stop loving her. I thought— I… It was for the better, Hyun. Trust me.”
“Then explain! Why— why do you think that?”
I closed my eyes. Engulfing myself in the warmth of darkness behind my eyelids.
“I’m under a lot of pressure right now. I— I’m seriously trying my best to juggle everything all by myself. I would really appreciate it if you just didn’t push—“
“Hyung, you don’t have to juggle everything all by yourself. I’m here and I may not understand your problems, but you can talk to me. Talking out your feelings helps you understand them better, you know.” JiHyun encouraged me as I opened my eyes to see him watching me. He sighed deeply as a single tear dropped from behind his lids and ran down his cheek.
“Hyung. Areum noona blocked me on everything when she left. I— Your decision didn’t only affect you, but me too. It affected eomma and appa too! Areumi was like my older sister, hyung! She was always there beside you whilst I grew up. It isn’t fair that my relationship with her as a close friend, advisor, sister, and whatever else she had done in my life is now ruined because of you! Be— Because you’re stupid enough to let her go like that!”
JiHyun had now broken down in tears whilst pushing his index finger to my chest. They were merely a push to exaggerate his point deeper into me, yet it struck me like a blade. He was in more distraught now than all the other years I’ve seen him grow up, and it pained me to know that I was the cause of it.
“I— I knew that by helping you get together and pushing you to confess was a bad idea. When you got together that turned me from her friend to her boyfriend’s younger brother, that turned eomma and appa from second guardians to her boyfriend’s eomma and appa. Our titles in her life were hanging on the thread of your relationship. How… how could you just easily throw it away… how?”
JiHyun’s voice sounded like he had given up on trying to understand my side. I never thought of it like that. I simply thought that it was only me getting affected when we turned from friends to lovers… How could I have been so selfish?
“JiHyun.”
I said as the younger immediately looked at me through my tear-filled eyes.
“Eomma and Appa are working really hard to support both of us, especially now that I’m in Seoul and trying to pursue this dream. The company I’m signed to is in really bad shape. Their newest group debut just failed and they let every other trainee go except for me and the boys I’m supposed to debut with. And I really care about these boys, my hyungs are nothing but supportive and teach me a lot of new things. I can’t let them down.” I explained slowly as I tried to blink my tears away.
“So… so you broke up with Areum noona?”
“Yes.” I said upfront. Letting myself think before I say my next words.
“Areum noona is an amazing person. She deserves better than someone who can’t take care of her and give her the love and attention she needs.”
“But…”
I stopped JiHyun from saying another word.
“Let’s not forget that we both knew our time with her was drawing to a close. Aaron hyung and her appa coming to spend Christmas here last year was only an indication that her family would all move to America.”
“But Hyung! She spoke with me before she left for Seoul. She was going to try and find a job there and stay here in South Korea instead of going with Aaron hyung. She was supposed to be with you! So that you can support each other together!” JiHyun sounded hopeful and it broke my heart. I never knew that I was her reason for staying in Seoul for a few weeks.
“JiHyun, we can’t do that to her.” I closed my eyes as I sniffed, trying to keep my composure.
“What do you mean?”
“Areum deserves to be with her family. It’s been too long since they weren’t together and America has much more opportunities for her. She always wanted to learn more English, and America is the place for her to get fluent. She wants all those new and foreign clothes and makeup, America has those. We can’t keep her away from that. Letting her go was for the best for her own good.”
I smiled as JiHyun frowned though it seemed as though I had finally gotten through with him. He finally understood every thought in my mind that I had to keep in check so that I wouldn’t do something selfish and tell her to stay with me.
[2020]
That night is still so vivid in my mind, like a wound that wouldn’t heal even after all the years. Every emotion I felt before hits me like a truck. My first ever heartbreak, my brother crying to me, he cried because of me letting her go.
“Why are you still out here? Shouldn’t you be getting changed?” Namjoon’s voice spoke behind me though I made no move to turn to him.
His arm reached out to squeeze my shoulder before he stood beside me. I could feel his eyes looking at me up and down before he crossed his arms like I had done for the past 10 minutes.
HueningKai, Beomgyu, J-hope, and Suga were currently sitting on a sofa on our new set. A cream-colored backdrop was set up behind them as the rest of the staff tried to silently move the new set off-screen, but that wasn’t my main focus. My gaze had been fixated on Areum and a few other makeup noonas and staff that belong to TXT.
She was talking casually, even laughing with the staff members as they passed by her. She was speaking in fluent Korean and she didn’t have that overly sweet voice anymore. She sounded like the Areum I knew.
I can tell the American sun had done its effect on her. Her skin glowed with a tint of tanning. Her makeup was barely noticeable though earlier I saw small glitters around her eye and light powder.
I can feel Namjoon eyeing me as I sighed
“Our interviews are later. What are you looking at here?” Namjoon asked as his eyes went back to the four boys doing their interview for a video.
“I’m just watching… taking notes on what the questions will be.” I showed him a smile as he raised a brow though didn’t push anything.
“Don’t worry too much. The interview isn’t anything serious.” Namjoon sent me a smile back as his hand went to squeeze my shoulder again, though my muscles still remained tense.
“Let’s go get chan—“
Namjoon was about to redirect me to our waiting room when a staff member behind the camera turned to look at us with a smile.
“The interview is about to end. You can join in if you’d like.” She smiled.
“There’s really no need. Namjoon, you said we’d get changed…” My words faltered and my eyes wandered when I saw Namjoon taking steps closer to the set.
“Oh come on, you’ve been standing there watching the interview happen. You deserve a little screen time.”
He had this smug look on his face as he said it with a volume for staff members that surrounded the set to hear and give space for us to join the captured space. One of those being Areum.
My eyes instantly fell to the floor and how shiny my heeled shoes were. They must’ve newly polished these for them to be so shiny.
“Thank you for your answers!” Kai said through the microphone he held and Namjoon was already waiting for me past the line of staff members.
I walked past the staff with a smile though keeping my head down as Namjoon started walking towards the sofa the boys were sitting on.
“And thank you for your interview.” Kai bowed and as he looked up he saw Namjoon entering the frame by walking behind the sofa, clapping as he did so.
I shook my head at the pointlessness of why we would join the frame nevertheless, I fixed my tie and started walking towards the space beside Namjoon whilst clapping my hand.
“I will now conclude the interview.” Kai said into his microphone and this time he saw me entering the frame before clapping himself.
“Wow!” Namjoon added a very veryyy necessary line for the interview.
“BigHit hwaiting.”
“Yeah!”
“Hwaiting!” I raised a fist slightly. Did we seriously join the frame to just say two words?
“Okay, cut!” The director said before the light that indicated that they were recording turned off.
Namjoon and Hobi immediately burst into chuckles as Hobi asked for the reason for our awkward and unnecessary entrance.
“It’s all Namjoon hyung!” I pointed to Namjoon as I started to chuckle too.
“Hey! Jimin was the one watching the interview instead of changing.” Namjoon pointed back at me and I only got to raise my hands up, not having a defense for my actions.
My eyes glanced around at the crew who were already starting to disperse. The stylists and makeup artists on standby were already turning around to get to the waiting room first, observing that we would probably be a bit slower in walking as the boy’s conversation had already gone to the dinner planned after the shoot.
I was about to excuse Kai from an enthusiastic Namjoon talking about some artistic bar only half an hour away from the warehouse, but my eyes had caught Areum’s glittered surrounded eyes. She was looking at me with those damned pretty bright eyes, and when I met hers she didn’t falter.
I furrowed my brows, trying to understand what her eyes had under them, though all I saw was that night in December. Her eyes held that same brightness and unreadable expression as the one she comforted me on the Ferris Wheel.
“I’m happy when you’re happy.”
She said that line with such genuineness that I wondered if that statement still held up to this day. Would she be happy knowing I had accomplished so much through the years I had without her?
I hoped she was happy too. I wished she got to do all the things she wanted to do even when I wasn’t around. Clearly, she already accomplished one of those goals.
She always loved makeup. I still remember the first time I met the Seongs. Aaron had immediately stolen my attention with his comic book collection, but when JiHyun broke Areum’s doll head something came over me. Perhaps it was some telltale sign that we’d be great friends and even lovers in the future, but I just wanted to do so much for her. I wanted to see her happy instead of sulking over my younger brother’s mistakes. Seeing her focused face painting a brush packed with powder to my face was certainly a memory I’ll never forget. Then I got to see the final result and suddenly I felt this wave of confidence overcome me like a mask that made a strong-willed, confident, and self-assured Jimin come out. I can never thank her enough for bringing that side of me out.
“Jimin ah, are you listening?” Everybody’s eyes pointed towards me as I snapped out of my thoughts.
After connecting my gaze with Areum I suddenly just felt as though I did not want to be there anymore though at the same time, I wanted to talk to her. Maybe say a greeting or catch up though that would be far-fetched. I don’t even know what terms we were on and there was no apparent reason for me to be speaking with her when she was a member of the TXT staff.
“Hmm?” I looked back at Sejin before pressing my lips together when their gazes dug deeper into me. Even the makeup noonas had spared me a glance, though quickly went back to retouching the other member’s makeup whilst a stylist held a box of accessories in front of me.
I shook my head to dismiss the addition of accessories. I wanted my pastel-light-themed attire to stay clean like the other outfit. I also just wasn’t in the right mindset to decide on doing anything right now. I needed to get myself together.
“After this photoshoot, all the staff and artists are gathering for dinner to celebrate the Lunar New Year. You’re free tonight, aren’t you? Or did you plan something without informing me?” Sejin looked at his phone which I assume had the file of our personal and group schedules.
I already told them about my trip to Busan for a few days. Just enough time to soulfully heal with family whilst also coming back to Seoul before our break ends to sneak in a few lazy days pent up in my apartment. So at the beginning of the day, I was all in on this dinner for tonight, though now I just felt overwhelmed. I wasn’t tired, but I just felt heavy. I’ve never felt this feeling before.
“Uhh… yeah. I’ll— I’ll come.” I forced a tight-lipped smile as the members eyed me though they went back to whatever else they were doing.
“Jimin ah.” Taehyung called my attention to him.
“Which hat should I wear? This…” Taehyung hovers a light pink flat cap over his head.
“Or this?” He replaced the flat cap with a white beret before he gauged my reaction.
“White Beret. Makes your pink shirt be more of a statement if you wore white around it.”
Taehyung nodded as he gave the hat to a stylist who made him sit back down on one of the chairs to place the hat stylishly on his head.
I looked back at my reflection in the mirror in front of me and all of a sudden I was taken back about ten years ago.
[2010]
I was finally Moving Up to High School. A day I had been looking forward to though with each day that passed, I had grown to hate it.
I hated how I wouldn’t be able to see Areum in the hallways anymore. I won’t see her being so candidly happy talking with her friends, giggling as they went out of the restrooms, laughing so loud that students at the end of the hall could hear her throaty laugh.
Yet I couldn’t wait to see what Busan’s High School of Arts had in store for me. I couldn’t wait to pursue a passion I had been eyeing since I was a child.
Speaking of eyes and me being a child. Today wasn’t the best day for me looking good. My right eye had gotten swollen through the night and now it was obvious from afar that one eye was clearly larger than the other.
“Where’s my handsome boyfriend?”
I heard Areum’s voice as I turned around from my reflection to see her flashing a bright smile at me. Her set of imperfectly perfect teeth showed through her upper lips that almost disappeared from how big her smile was. Smile lines that curved to the edges of her mouth and if you carefully looked at her as much as I did then you’d notice a slight dimple appearing through her right cheek. I love her so much.
“Handsome isn’t the best word for me right now.” I chuckled in half light-heartedness as her smile dropped to a cute pout that I didn’t like seeing often though I knew I’d be seeing her bright smile repeatedly throughout the day.
“Impossible. Why? What happened?” She came closer to me before we both turned to the floor-length mirror.
“My eye is swollen.” I pointed to my right eye.
Areum turned both of us to face each other. Her gaze connected with mine and I knew she was already pouring all the reassurance she wanted me to know through her pupils. She placed both of her hands on each side of my face, making my face feel like the ice cream of an ice cream sandwich.
“You know, you’re still the cutest with a swollen eye. One smile and the ladies are coming after you.”
“Too bad I only want you.” I smiled though it was proven difficult when my cheeks were squeezed together. My eyes squinted with how I wanted to show her my smile and she only smiled back before slightly pulling my head down towards her for her to leave a kiss on my swollen eye.
“I’m sorry, I did that all those years ago…”
“You didn’t do anything, Eumi.”
She let go of my face as it was now my turn to wrap my arms around her waist. I glanced down at her lips, glossed with a light layer of lip shiner. I was about to lean down to peck her lips though I was stopped when she pulled away from my grip.
“Ah! I have a bit of makeup. Maybe I can try to minimize the look of your swollen eye.”
She walked towards her discarded purse and took out a bubblegum pink pouch that I came to know was where she stored makeup that she could carry around. I sat down on the edge of my bed as Areum took out a circular container and a sponge.
“I didn’t bring any eyeshadow to make it seem smaller but maybe a bit of powder can help.”
She stood in front of me and lifted my chin to look up at her. I closed my eyes, feeling her makeup sponge pat lightly on my eyelids.
“Tell me if the powder irritates your eyes.” Her voice sounded so strict and stern though that was one thing I grew to love about her. She always cared no matter what, so when she grows irritated and stern I know it's because she's just so passionate about something.
I nodded as she turned back to her pouch and scavenged it for something she was looking for. She took out a few items to set aside from what she was looking for. Her lipstick, lip balm, lip shiner, and whatever makeup things needed a tube. She took out something that looked like a pencil, then another pencil, and then a pen-looking sticking that I knew was eyeliner.
“Are you gonna put eyeliner on me?” I asked as Areum finally found a peach-colored tube at the bottom of her pouch.
“You want me to?” She was hesitant as she eyed the black pen discarded on my bed.
“Yeah, I wanna try it 'cause I see you put it on and you make it look so pretty.” Or maybe that’s because she’s just so pretty that everything she does is pretty.
Areum giggled lightly shoving my shoulder before shaking her head and opening the peach tube.
“I’ll put it on after I put some concealer on you.”
I couldn’t help but smile when she agreed to my request. She was quick in taking a bit of concealer on her finger and placing dots under my eyes and a few places where hormonal bumps appeared. I really did try to keep my face clean but some days I was way too lazy and exhausted to do much else than talk with Areum or rest.
“What’s the difference between concealer and foundation?” I asked as she reached for her makeup sponge.
“Well, concealer is to conceal blemishes, obviously.”
I laughed at her sassiness. I wasn’t all that interested in makeup though I can tell she had so much love and interest in it that I asked her questions to understand what she was doing most of the time.
“Foundation is for your entire face. It’s like the foundation of a house. You place the rest of the products on top of the foundation so that they have something to blend to.” She spoke passionately as she had to pause from doing my makeup to explain to me before she started blending the concealer again.
“Wait… I don’t have foundation on, why are you placing concealer on me if it has nothing to blend with?” I asked though this time Areum didn’t take her eyes off the under eyes she was blending.
“The concealer is pretty close to your skin tone already and I also ran out of foundation earlier… but your skin looks perfect without it already.” She stepped back after blending everything to her desire and pinched my cheek before storing everything back into her pouch except for the eyeliner.
“Yeah right. I’m growing pimples left and right.” I shook my head though it was quickly stopped by Areum’s hand softly gliding on the line of my jaw.
“It’s normal first of all, though I’m always telling you to take care of your skin.”
“Yeah, but I don’t know how to do those things you do.”
“‘Things I do’ ?” She asked with a raise of her brow.
“Yeah, like your face mask thing.”
I had seen her do it often when I stayed late into the evening in the Seong apartment. She’d place all these lotions and serums and massage her face with her hands before placing on a mask, and I’d just watch her do her thing as we chat about our day.
I never told her but it was oddly satisfying watching her do her routine. Sometimes I’d silently guess which step was next though most of the time I’d fail since I could visualize which product she was using next though I never actually knew the names of the steps.
“Maybe next time we’ll do it together?” Her voice was soft, hiding a sense of shyness as usually I would be the one suggesting ideas on what we could do together.
“Sounds great.” I smiled back at her as a redness engulfed her face and caused me to chuckle before she sent me a stern look to keep my face still.
“Move and I’ll draw my art project on your face.” She warned and I couldn’t help but laugh with the air in my lungs.
Little did I know that a little try of eyeliner had created the Jimin I carried to the stage and millions of people know. That little curiosity from watching Eumi put her makeup on and off was going to lead to today’s me thanking my past self for applying sunscreen that she always reminded me to put on before we went out.

[Jihyun x MC]
[Entry for Jihyun Week 2020 Day 4; @mysme-events]
You were holding Jihyun's hand as you were crossing a field of sunflowers, fingers intertwined as you laugh at his cheesy lines and at how the hairy stems of the flowers tickled your skin.
It was a warm afternoon as the sun shone brightly, breeze passing and the flowers swaying with the wind. Jihyun felt full of happiness as he hears your laughter, his heart swelling with love that he had to take a moment to breathe and cherish this very moment. He stopped walking, his arm stretching out before his fingers slipped away from yours.
Jihyun looked at you as he saw colors bursting out from you, you weren't a blank canvas, no, you were already a master piece. Your bright and dark colors clashing and harmonizing together. Warmth emitting not only from your touches but also from your words, your laughter, your eyes, your smile, from everything that he receives. He thought he couldn’t experience such love, but there you were, in front of him, giving him what he thought he didn’t deserve.
Once you realized he was gone from your side, you stopped and turned around, Jihyun had a small smile across his face as he looked at you, his eyes smiling even more as it reflected his feelings. He was blissfully contented at where he is, where you both are. The two years you were apart were long, but it was two years he would endure again if it means this blissful feeling and moment is awaiting for him after.
"Jihyun, why'd you stop?," you asked as you traced back your steps to him and wrapped your arms around his waist. You looked up and he tugged your hair behind an ear, "I just wanted to admire you," he said. You shied away from his gaze and laugh softly at one of his cheesy lines once again.
"Well you can admire me more later. Come on, everyone's waiting," you tugged him and removed one arm as he let his wrap on your waist.
Words have failed Jihyun as he couldn't describe what he felt, it was overflowing him with warmth, love and happiness. And when words fail him, he knows exactly how to express it in a different way.
~~~
"Mm, what are you showing me? A new piece?" he chuckled at your eagerness while you held his hand that was covering your eyes as he led you to his studio. It has been days since he locked himself in his studio, staying up late and only coming out to eat and take a shower.
"Are you ready, love?" he whispered, you nodded enthusiastically and he slowly removed his hand from your eyes. In front of you was a big canvas, it was the field of sunflowers where you went. You took in as much as many details as you can, your mouth slightly open as you were enthralled at how beautiful and careful it was made. The flowers slightly angled as the wind blows, petals flying from here and there, the trees with its leaves falling, the sky so vivid with its colors and the clouds as if real to touch. And in the middle was your silhouette, made with different colors with its core a bright sun.
He looked at you as you took it all in, hoping his love was radiating from his work, reaching you. A tear fell on your eye, completely taken by your emotions. You couldn't even put a finger to what you were feeling, but all you know you felt happy, loved, and seen.
You jumped into Jihyun, holding his neck as you kissed him. He took a step back as he was caught off guard, but soon he held your waist and responded to your kiss.
When words failed Jihyun, his heart didn't.
Second day of Jihyun Week: Cafe | Letters
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: V | Jihyun Kim/Main Character (Named)
Warning: N/A
Word Count: 2,781
Summary: Set after Another Story. Not compliant with Judge or Forgive. Combines some elements with Jaehee's Good Ending/After Ending. Jihyun's return after two years shocked Lux so much that she questioned whether it even happened. When he visited her two days after the party she had the opportunity to assure herself that he was there to stay.
Mint
"Jaehee, do you need help?"
Lux poked her head in the doorway of the office. Jaehee sat at the desk, papers in both hands. There was a pen tucked between her fingers. At the question she looked up, blinking. Though the customers wouldn't notice, Lux picked up Jaehee's exhaustion. Her poor friend looked ready for a nap. Despite that, though, her eyes sparkled—which it never did when she worked for Jumin.
"I'm okay, Lux, thank you," she answered, smiling.
Lux knitted her brows, "Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay... well, I'll go ahead and wipe everything down."
Jaehee nodded and returned to the papers, "Thank you."
Quietly, Lux closed the door. Then, she tightened her apron as she grabbed everything she needed from the utility closet. She started with stacking the chairs, making sure they were out of the way. After, she wiped down the tables; she made sure each surface sparkled before moving on.
Thoughts of the party intruded her thoughts and she had to smile at her own obsessiveness. It was all still surreal. Didn't she dream it all? It was like any other party... with the exception that he finally returned. To them. To her.
And the words he said... they were the very same she longed to hear for the past two years. Being a woman in love, she wasn't immune to the occasional daydream. In the past couple of years, she'd been imagining him saying the words. Sometimes, she imagined him saying them in different places: the airport, at a fountain, in a meadow... when it became reality in the party, of all places, she decided she'd become delusional.
But then... he took her hand. He gathered her in his arms. His warmth enveloped her and it brought her back to that fateful night. Back then, she was the one who hugged him. The things he said were words of hurt, loneliness, emptiness—it made her realise he needed comfort. That he needed it for a while. She remembered how stiff and awkward he was, how he couldn't return the gesture.
This time... this time he was the one. He hugged her and she was so surprised that she couldn't return it. She didn't know what to do or how to respond—she was still trying to make sure it wasn't all a dream.
She would've loved to spend the entire night talking to him but she had to fulfil her duties. It was hard, knowing he was in the room but they couldn't be together yet. It was the most baffling kind of torture. As soon as the event ended Zen shoved them into a corner and assured them that he and the others would clean up. He all but ordered them to talk.
And they did, thanks to him. It was awkward at first. They never lost connection—so many messages passed between them in the past two years. Yet, it's like their image of each other no longer matched with reality and they had to adjust. When they caught up, though, she noticed how he took her hand and never let go. More than once she got lost in his eyes because he gazed at her as if she was the only person in the world for him.
Unfortunately, it all came to an end. Jumin invited Jihyun to spend time with him and catch up. But before one of Jumin's cars drove her away, Jihyun promised to see her again. It was a promise so real that ever since she's been checking her phone, email, and voicemail for any signs from him.
That was two days ago.
Since then she hadn't heard from him. She had to wonder if she actually dreamt it all up. Could it be that her daydreams had finally manifested into some bizarre reality? It came to a point where she had to check with some of the members that what happened was real. After expressions of concern they assured her that, yes, Jihyun was home.
With a tired sigh, she straightened her back and stretched. She was almost done. As she resumed her work the entrance bells rang. Her shoulders jerked in surprise—did they forget to lock up? She turned around, already putting on her apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, we're closed—oh!" she gasped, eyes widening.
The door swung closed and before it stood Jihyun.
He looked so different that it still confused her. Her mind still saw a man with chin-length hair and all the world's misfortunes clear on his expression. Now, before her was a man with neater hair and a brighter smile. At first glance, he seemed like a stranger to her. However, Yoosung said during the party that he resembled himself before Rika's "death".
But alive, Seven then interjected.
Jihyun stepped forward, "Good evening."
"Hello," she replied. "W-what are you doing here?"
As he ambled forward, he brought his hands behind his back as he looked around with interest. He wore a white shirt again, unbuttoned at the throat. This time he didn't wear any accessories. There was a golden tone to his skin, evidence to the fact that he lived his life out in the world.
"Jumin told me you and Jaehee opened a cafe," he said and then flashed a playful grin. "Well... more specifically he complained that you brainwashed his best assistant to quit the perfect, most stable job in the world for a business that had little chance of success."
"Yes," Lux quipped. "He tells me every time he comes by for coffee."
He chuckled, "He's been visiting?"
"Almost every day, Jaehee says."
"He didn't tell me that."
"Well, he wouldn't, would he?" she said with a shrug. "Besides, what's he saying about brainwashing? I simply told Jaehee that she deserves more in her life. She deserves more than spending twenty hours every day at work."
"Jumin says her job's more than enough," he teased.
"Yeah, no."
Their eyes met at that and they laughed together.
"Anyway, I wanted to see the cafe," Jihyun continued.
Lux bit her lip, "Just to see the cafe?"
He laughed again. He's the image of handsome confidence... but it didn't escape her notice how the shells of his ears have a bright pink tinge. The subtle show of shyness was so endearing to her that she couldn't help smiling at him.
"Well, no," he admitted, "but it looks like I interrupted you."
"Ah..." she drawled, "yeah... it's okay. I'm nearly done."
"Then, is it okay if I sit and wait?"
"Of course!"
She guided him to a table nearest to the counter, helping him take a chair to sit on before resuming work. Her heart fluttered madly in her chest at seeing him again but she tried not to show how flustered she was. As she restarted she heard footsteps emerging from the office. She looked up and saw Jaehee appear with a concerned frown.
"Is everything okay?" she said. "I heard a customer come in but I didn't hear them leave—ah, hello V—no, wait, I'm sorry. I mean, Jihyun."
"Good evening, Jaehee," he replied and waved.
"How are you?" she asked.
Lux continued on resuming her task as the two caught up.
"I'm well, thank you," he said. "Jumin told me about the cafe so I thought I'd come and take a look. I apologise for visiting after business hours without calling. I thought I'd visit when you're not busy."
"It's fine, Jihyun. You're welcome any time."
"Thank you... this is a wonderful place, Jaehee. The modern European interior looks refreshing. I'm certain your customers love to come here and relax."
"I appreciate that." The pride was clear in Jaehee's voice. "That is exactly the concept I aimed for. As a former employee, I know what it's like to need a place with a relaxed atmosphere."
"Well, I'd say you achieved it."
"Thank you very much," Jaehee said. "Now, would you like to have some coffee or tea? You're welcome to try some of the samples that came in today.”
“Oh?”
“Lux has been good with talking to the suppliers."
Lux's cheeks warmed a little at the compliment. Jihyun chuckled.
“I’d love that.”
“Excellent. Lux? Coffee?”
Lux flashed Jaehee a smile, “Yes, thank you.”
The sounds of the espresso machine filled the cafe as Jaehee prepared the drinks. As Lux finished up she felt a curious niggling at the back of her neck. She looked over her shoulder and found Jihyun watching with a happy smile. When their eyes met his smile widened and he winked. Lux flushed but did return the smile. She made quick work of finishing. By the time she sat across Jihyun, Jaehee had already served the steaming beverages. There were only two cups. She glanced at Jaehee who was taking her apron off.
"Where's yours?" Lux said.
"I'm going," Jaehee replied happily.
"Going?" Lux exclaimed. "But—"
Jaehee stopped her with a wave of her hand.
"Don't worry, Lux; you and Jihyun are welcome to stay."
"Are you going somewhere?" Jihyun said curiously.
"Home," Jaehee quipped. "You two have fun."
Lux watched, a little dumbfounded, as Jaehee took her belongings and walked off. Before stepping out she made sure to lock the door. Then, with a jaunty wave, she was gone and out of sight. Lux blinked and turned to Jihyun. After sharing a shocked look they chuckled at the situation they found themselves in. She wrapped her hands around the cup as Jihyun took a sip.
“This is good,” he complimented.
Lux smiled, “Thank you very much.”
"You must have worked very hard to get these samples."
"Oh, no. I just used what I learned from being a party coordinator."
Jihyun smiled at that, "I'm glad we helped you in that way."
"Yes, but I learned more than that from you and the RFA," Lux replied.
There were his ears again, glowing pink at her compliment.
"Me coming here suddenly must have surprised you," he continued.
She chuckled and nodded.
"A little bit."
He winced, "I intended to visit earlier but Jumin wanted to spend time with me and catch up. He said I made him suffer—and, well, I consider him my brother more than anything else."
"It's okay," she assured him. "It's your time to spend."
"Thank you for understanding," he smiled in relief. "I had to remind him that I made you suffer too. I've made you wait for a long time and I shouldn't be making you wait longer. That's when he told me about the cafe."
Lux's cheeks warmed at his words, "You said that?"
"I did."
"That's funny actually... when I didn't hear from you after the party I had to wonder if I dreamt you up. I had to ask some of the members if you were real."
Jihyun's eyes widened, "Did you?"
She laughed, "Yes... I was going to ask Jumin but I didn't want to worry him if it did turn out that you weren't real and it was all just in my head."
"Oh, no. I'm so sorry!"
Jihyun was chuckling but she couldn't mistake the guilt that flashed across his face for a second. Now she felt a little remorseful for making him feel that way. It wasn't meant to be a guilt-trip… more of a silly anecdote.
"I'm here now," he continued.
Lux hesitated before replying, "Yes... you are here."
After that, their conversation turned to more positive subjects. Lux learned that he moved around a lot, learning from every place he explored. He met so many people and grew because of them. He learned things about life his father never taught him... things that his mother tried to let him see. In turn, Lux told him her stories and experiences, answering every question he asked. She tried her best not to show how lonely it had been without him. He needed to heal and she wanted to give him the space to do so.
"I'm relieved that you've been happy and healthy this past couple of years," Jihyun said. "I'm sorry for being away so long. It must have been hard for you. Thank you very much for being patient with me and for welcoming me when I returned."
Lux's throat tightened and she mustered a smile for him.
"The RFA had been very helpful," she said, "so I wasn't alone. I'm lucky compared to you. The journey you had to go through by yourself must have been harder."
"It was hard, yes," he said softly. "But I had you to think about. I had your encouragements to return to whenever I felt like giving up. You and the RFA... you all gave me the strength to keep going."
"I'm happy to hear that, Jihyun."
They both smiled at each other. Then, Jihyun glanced at the clock.
"Oh, where did the time go?" he said. "It's midnight."
Lux glanced at the clock too, "Oh, wow, you're right."
"Let me drop you off," he said, standing up.
"Are you sure? I don't mind taking a taxi."
She stood up as he smiled at her.
"Please, it's no trouble. I'd rather see you home personally."
"Thank you," she replied.
Lux took the cups and Jihyun stood by as she cleaned up. They walked out of the cafe together after she grabbed her belongings. After she locked up, he walked her to his car and helped her get in first. Then, he went into the driver's seat and they were on their way.
The drive was quiet but comfortable. Every so often they'd look at each other and smile. Jihyun had turned on the radio and she smiled in appreciation at the classical music reverberating from the speakers. Chopin's nocturne relaxed her body, making her sink into the leather seat. The street lamps outside broke up the long expanse of darkness ahead. With fewer cars going past them now the whole atmosphere was that of quiet solitude.
"After being overseas for so long," Jihyun said softly as he made a turn. "The streets here felt foreign to me. Before, I knew my way around... now, I had to relearn a few things."
"It seems like you're doing well," she said.
"I'm relieved... I was worried I'd forget what home felt like."
Soon, he drove through a suburban area. He had to ask her for directions for which she was happy to provide. In no time at all, they arrived at her home. Jihyun looked out the windshield in interest as she prepared to step out.
"I haven't seen your home before," he said. "This is very nice."
"It is, yes," she answered, chuckling.
"Well, good night," he continued. "I'll see you soon."
She was about to open the door but his words made her stop.
"You will, won't you?" she asked suddenly. "See me again?"
“What do you mean?”
Lux looked up at him and saw his confused smile.
God, did she sound like a crazy person?
"I mean..." she said nervously. ”You are here, aren't you? I know what I said back in the cafe and I know you said you're here... but a part of me still can't believe it. I'm worried that this is all a dream—that I'd wake up and realise you're still gone."
As she rambled Jihyun's smile dissipated to surprise. Then there was that same look of guilt again. She didn't want to hurt him but at the same time, she wouldn't dare believe anything... because he's been gone for so long. As they gazed at each other the look of guilt on his face made way for a gentle smile. He faced her fully and then held out his hands.
"Here," he said.
She hesitated and looked at them—long-fingered and soft-looking. She sensed what he was trying to do... but what if she reached out and he disappeared? She wasn't sure if she preferred to confirm her fears this way than by simply waking up. She looked into his eyes and he gazed back steadily at her. In his eyes was assurance, a gentle plea to trust him. In their short time together he never gave her reason not to.
This time shouldn't be different.
Sighing, she gulped and slipped her hands in his.
"I am here," he said. "I won't go anywhere anymore, I promise."
He squeezed her hands and she squeezed back. The warmth of his skin permeated hers. He rand his thumbs over the backs of her hands. He was gentle and tender... and somehow that was all the proof she needed to know this was real. He was telling her the truth. With a relieved smile, she nodded.
"I believe you."
Jihyun Week 2020- Day Seven! | Prompt- Birthday
I literally can’t believe that I managed to stick around until the end of the week lol | Also, sorry this is late
Anyways, enjoy!
Beep~ Beep~
Jihyun rolled over on the bed- and fell face-first on the floor. He got up, and pressed the stop button on the alarm.
Flop.
Jihyun went back to sleep. lol same-
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, you were with the RFA, exactly one (1) Saeyoung and one (1) Yoosung away from burning it down. At this point, the only reason that hadn’t happened was because of Jaehee.
“Saeyoung, you’re not supposed to put Honey Buddha Chips into the mix-”
“But it says so, right here!” Saeyoung pointed to the instructions on the box, with “HBC- 2 handfuls” written at the bottom in pen.
Jaehee sighed. It hurt to see them like this when she could have finished the job a long time ago.
“Everyone, Jihyun’s alarm just went off! He’s not awake yet, but we’d better work quickly!” you whisper-shouted to them.
“Yeah!!” Saeyoung actually shouted, causing everyone else to immediately cover his mouth.
Everyone else started actually listening to Jaehee after that, and you almost finished everything up quickly. Everything was set up, when...
Jihyun got up, and stopped the alarm for the forty-fifth time.
“Nghhh” was all he said as he walked outside the bedroom and into the kitchen.
“Guys, guys, c’mon, hide!” you hissed at the members of the RFA. Yoosung and Saeyoung dove behind a counter, Jaehee crawled into a cabinet, and Jumin slunk into the corner of the room.
“MC?” Jihyun stumbled into the kitchen. “Where are yo-”
“SURPRISE!” everyone burst out of their hiding spots. Jihyun was confused, and then he saw the other RFA members.
“Wow, where’d everyone come from?” Jihyun looked around the room, surprised. “MC, did you get everyone here?”
You smiled at him. “Yes, of course! After all, it is your birthday today.”
Jihyun’s eyes widened. “Oh!” he chuckled.
You kissed him, and Saeyoung and Yoosung oohed and aahed like second graders.
“Happy birthday, Ji,” you said, brushing some of his hair to the side of his face. “I love you.”
730 Days
This is my first real fanfiction that I’ve posted here. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any kind of fanfiction but I hope you enjoy!
Mysme Week 2020 Day One ( @mysmeweek2020 )
Anniversary
V/Jihyun Kim x MC
Word Count: 1.6K
Summary: It’s been exactly 730 days of yearning for the man named Kim Jihyun
It’s been 730 days since you last saw Kim Jihyun. Two years to the date. It’s been 730 sunrises and sunsets,  and 730 days of desperately missing him.
It was surprising at first, you had only known V for eleven days before he left. In less than two weeks you met and fell in love with him. And just as quickly as he appeared in your life he disappeared from it. For a good reason of course, but that didn’t ease the ache in your chest his absence caused. Soon after he left your life returned to some semblance of normal, and the events of the nearly two weeks you spent with V settled in your mind, though never too far away.
In the months following his departure there were nights where you wondered if V had been a figment of your imagination. V sometimes felt like a dream to you. The kind and gentle mint-haired man who promised to protect you. Who you helped nurse back to health after he’d been poisoned. Something about him felt so ethereal, almost otherworldly, it was hard not to think of him like an angel who appeared in your greatest time of need.
The RFA was your biggest reminder that not only was he real, but your feelings for him were also just as real, and just as powerful as the day he left.
730 days, two years since the first party you organized was cancelled, you got into a car on the way to the party that you organized.
Sitting in the backseat of the car Jumin had sent, you ran through your to-do list in your head. There felt like thousands of little details to remember, from the guest list, to the refreshments, to the auction later in the afternoon. These thoughts swirled in your head like alphabet soup jumbled and somewhat meaningless.
Clutching your hands together you saw the party venue come into sight. You had arrived early but already there was a significant amount of press that had gathered at the entrance. Walking up to the front doors you made sure your RFA badge was visible and waved to Jaehee. Two years had let you grow close with every member of the RFA, but this was the first time that everyone would be gathered up in the same room. The thought brought a smile to your face, you were almost looking forward to a possible fight between Zen and Jumin. Which was saying something.
The main hall was gorgeous. Perfectly decorated to match the elegant theme of the afternoon’s event. Each table carefully prepared with champagne flutes being filled for the guests to drink. Finally getting to see it all in person took your breath away, suddenly all of the work, the planning, the emails, the late nights spent preparing felt worth it.
The party started without a single mishap, guests filed into the ballroom as music danced through the air. While there was still many things to attend to, you took a few moments every once in a while to take in the moment and truly savor it. Taking one of these short moments and a soft smile on your face, you were already drafting a letter to V in your head. You couldn’t wait to tell him about all of this, your heart ached from his absence but the small points of correspondence you had with him made it all bearable. Your fingers itched as you thought about the future contents of the letter.
“Are you enjoying the party?” Jumin asked, appearing beside you, two flutes of champagne in his hand, one of which he offered you. You took the glass into your hand and shared a brief toast between the two of you, taking a sip you smiled at the crowd.
“I still can’t really believe it’s actually happening.” You admitted.
“It’s all due to your hard work.” Jumin stated in his standard tone. Very matter of fact, without any doubt into the truth of his statement. You watched him glance into the crowd, his eyes purposely trying to avoid the reporters lingering at the edges of the ballroom.
You and Jumin had become particularly close during the past two years. During the original two weeks when you met the two of you had both taken on the job of holding everyone together. Keeping the RFA whole while V recovered, and while the rest of the members grappled with what Rika had become was a struggle for the both of you individually. However, within the chaos you both held the group together, all while you both could feel yourselves falling apart at the seams.
It took two months before you finally started to crack, and three for Jumin to start drinking more often. During this time you both found comfort in each other’s company. You enjoyed weekly dinners together where you drank wine and vented about everything that was worrying you that week. Work stress, RFA drama, the one time Elizabeth started shedding more than usual and Jumin worried she was sick, and of course your favorite topic, your mutual longing for one Kim Jihyun.
“I wish he was here.” You blurted out. Looking back to Jumin you could see that look of nostalgia in his eyes he got when either of you spoke about your mutual friend.
“As do I.” He muttered. You held onto your glass tighter.
“There are going to be more parties, maybe he’ll be there for the next one.” Jumin’s eyes looked over at you, you still weren’t very good at reading his facial expressions but it almost looked like he knew something you didn’t. Opening your mouth to say something you couldn’t get it out before you saw the other RFA members coming towards the two of you.
After the other members excused themselves to go about the rest of the party you found yourself alone again. After a long content sigh you gently set the champagne flute down on the table next to you. Wrapping your arms around yourself it was hard to fight the smile on your face.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment.” You closed your eyes for just a second, the smile on your face growing wider. You didn’t look, almost afraid his voice was only in your head.
“Me too.” You said. Opening your eyes you slowly looked to the source of the voice. Your breath caught in your throat. He wasn’t a figment of your imagination, he wasn’t a dream, Kim Jihyun was standing right in front of you. Tears welled in your eyes, because not only was he right in front of you. But he looked so happy.
“Congratulations.” He said, his voice light and full of emotion.
“V?”
“It’s Jihyun Kim now.” He smiled bright, “Long time no see.”
He spoke about his time away, the things he learned, the future he wanted to make for himself. A future that he wanted you to be a part of and help him create. He spoke from the heart, no longer weighed down by doubt and fear like he had in the past. Each word felt purposeful, confident. As you listened to him the realization of his return finally overwhelmed you. Tears now streamed down your cheeks as you made no attempt to hide them or wipe them away. You wanted to hold onto his moment, and not let anything detract from it.
“I want to love you. I will love you. I love you. Just as I love myself.” V- no Jihyun finished. His smile remained while he waited for you to speak. Racking your brain you tried to think of what to say, you thought of every dream you had, every imaginary reunion you created in your head. None of them however, could compare to this.
Unable to find words you pulled him into an embrace. Your face pressing into his shoulder. He stood shocked for only a second before his arms wrapped around you tight. Trying to keep yourself from crying you mumbled into his shoulder.
“Jihyun, oh Jihyun.” His name sounded the sweetest song when you said it. “I love you. I love you so much.” You held each other as tight as you could, as if this moment would disappear once you let go.
Pulling away just enough to see his face, your eyes met his. Jihyun’s hands moved up to cradle your face. He heard him take a shaky breath while he stared straight into your eyes.
“I-” He stopped to take another breath. “I’ve never seen you this clearly before.” He smiled, that sweet gentle smile full of warmth that you missed so dearly. Staring into his eyes it’s impossible to not see just how vibrant they are. Even more so than when he was half blind when you first met.
“Is that good?” You whispered.
“Yes. You’re even more beautiful than I remember.” A soft relieved sigh slipped past your lips. Your hands moved up to rest on his chest, just below his neck and shoulders. Staring for just a moment longer Jihyun leaned forward, capturing your lips in his. Time froze while one of your arms slipped around his neck to pull him closer.
When his lips finally broke away to catch his breath, his eyes fluttered open to look at you.
“I hope that was alright.” A brief look of concern flashed across his perfect face. With a gentle smile fixed to your lips you answered his question by pulling him close so you could kiss him again.
It’s been 730 days since you last saw Kim Jihyun, and seeing him now, feeling his lips against yours, you knew it was worth the wait.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A soft breeze rustled the pale pink curtains in Jihyun’s living room as he stood over the makeshift studio space he created for MC’s photo shoot. He ran a hand through his hair as he inspected the space thoroughly. White sheets covered the expanse of the mahogany hardwood floor, a plethora of various pillows from thrift stores sat on top as MC’s props. Other furniture was pushed to the side, just enough for the landscape outside of the open window to be in full view. A light drizzle from the morning still clung to the wildflowers scattered across the rolling hills behind their home.
A small smile formed on his lips as the image of MC’s hair shining in the afternoon sun came to mind. If he was able to angle her face just right, he would be able to capture her eyes glistening from the sunlight. The light would bring out the underlying layers of color hidden by the typical shadows of daily life, one of the many reasons he wanted to take photos of MC in the afternoon light.
He felt a soft touch on his back, causing his soft smile to grow. MC’s palm flattened against his back for a moment, just a silent sign to let him know she was right behind him. Since moving in together, the two had taken to showing their love in hushed moments. Jihyun and MC embraced the stillness of their new home, reveling in the lack of noise and bustling energy a city lifestyle exudes.
She could feel the vibrations of his voice as he breathed out a low hum in satisfaction. Even though he seemed relaxed enough, she could still feel how tense his muscles were under the light blue button down he was wearing. She slid her hands around his waist and held him in a soft embrace. The thundering beat of his heart reverberated through her mind as she placed her ear against his shoulder blades.
As time progressed, he relaxed into her touch. He brought a hand up to gently place it over hers. No matter what thoughts raced through the constant static of his mind, her soothing touch had always been able to bring complete silence.
After spending a few minutes enjoying each other’s company, the two separated so they could face one another. Jihyun stepped to the side so he could see how the sunlight would look for the photos. Just as he expected, the sunlight against MC’s hair, eyes, and skin were absolutely breathtaking. She was as radiant as an angel.
Jihyun watched her eyes scan the makeshift bedding he made for her. Her eyes looked concerned as she looked up to him, “Are you sure it’s fine to get paint on all of these pillows?
He smiled warmly as he looked down at the pile of miscellaneous pillows, “I am sure. The paint can easily wash off and these pillows are from the thrift store anyway. I am sure they are glad to have a second home for now.”
MC giggled lightly, “Well, as long as the pillows are fine with it.”
Jihyun chuckled along with her before picking up a russet brown leather bag that was placed at the edge of his pallet. He took out bottles of primary color body paint, a few paint brushes, and a small ceramic plate. He knelt down to organize his belongings before he turned his attention back to MC.
MC was facing away from him, her back completely bare. The only clothing she was wearing was a pair of white denim shorts she bought for him to deliberately stain. She was staring out of the window just as she had found him a few minutes ago. Without looking away from the scenery, she began to pull her hair into a messy bun so it would be out of the way while he worked.
Just looking at her back was enough for inspiration to strike regarding what scene he would create on her skin. He would paint the gleaming wildflowers the two walked through almost every day. Green. He would definitely need green. He began to meticulously mix the colors on the ceramic plate while MC laid down on her stomach beside him.
MC’s face was turned to the side so she could peer up at him to watch him work. He was always so tense, especially when he was working diligently. She knew he wanted this shoot to go perfectly purely based on his clenched jaw and furrowed brow. Once he was finished mixing colors for the time being, he looked over to MC. The harsh lines on his face evened out into a smile as he caught her staring up at him.
“Are you ready?” He lifted a paint brush to show her the pastel green paint covering the bristles.
She just nodded in response and turned her head, so it was facing forward comfortably. The first delicate stroke of the paintbrush on her lower back caused a shiver to run down her spine from the new sensation. He worked slowly against her skin, the sensation of the brush against her was causing a wave of anticipation to course through her veins.
Stop that… this is a photo shoot. Not the time for this… She closed her eyes to try and suppress the building arousal in her core. He seemed excited to take these photos when he first explained this idea to her. She remembered him telling her, “It is a day filled with my favorite things. Photography, painting, and you.” Her cheeks turned a dark shade of crimson from the thought of his words.
His steady hands did not cease working until he was done with the landscape he had created across the expanse of her back. As he suspected, splatters of paint coated her white shorts. By the time he was content with the final product, the sun had begun to set, and MC was dozing off on the multitude of pillows. Trying to remain as silent as possible, Jihyun grabbed his camera. He turned off the flash, so he did not wake MC from her slumber. The quality of the pictures would not be professional, but he couldn’t care less. These pictures would be for his sight and his sight only.
Once he had snapped a couple of pictures, he set the camera down so he could wake MC. His hands were feather light against her cheek as he tried to rouse her from her slumber. Her brows furrowed a bit until her eyes opened slowly to see him before her. A lazy smile spread across her lips as she blinked lethargically.
“Did you sleep well, sweetheart?” His tone was soft as he continued to stroke his thumb over the softness of her cheek.
“I slept amazingly.” She propped herself onto her elbows so she could face him, “Are you finished?
“Yes, I am. Are you ready to take pictures or would you like to sleep a while longer?” He noticed her voice was still husky from her afternoon nap.
She looked out of the window to see how far the sun had already lowered. “I am ready now. It would be terrible if we missed the chance at this lighting, huh?” She stood from her laying position and faced the window.
Jihyun grabbed his camera from its place on the floor and he stood as well. He was stunned by the image of her beauty against the afternoon brilliance.
She turned her head to the side so she could catch a glimpse of him, “You will have to tell me how to pose, you know.”
Jihyun cleared his throat and nodded, more to himself than her. “Take your hair down and place the strands over your left shoulder.” He began to adjust the lens as she did as he asked. Once her hair was situated he continued, “Now, turn your head to the right and look at the wall.”
He snapped a few photos then continued to give her directions on how to pose. She followed his directions as best as she could, barely speaking between poses. The air was thick with tension as the two tried to maintain a proper atmosphere for the photoshoot. MC could not stop her cheeks from flaming when she would hear him mutter to himself about her beauty.
“Brilliant,” He whispered as he took a picture of her laying on her stomach, but her head was turned so she could peer up at him with intense eyes. He could feel his desire for her building throughout the entire photoshoot. He had tried to deny his arousal while painting the landscape, but he was failing miserably. MC had always been his temptation since the moment he met her. She was his temptation while also being his saving grace.
“MC, I have an idea.” He set his camera down on the pillows so he could begin to unbutton his shirt. MC raised her eyebrows when she saw this and quickly raised to her knees. Her eyes followed his long fingers as they unbuttoned each individual button, exposing more of his skin the further down he went. The arousal that had begun to die down was now raging through her body once more.
He slipped the shirt from his broad shoulders and he extended it to her, “Place this on your chest and face away from me.” MC began to stand up to do as she was told but was stopped by a gentle hand on her shoulder, “You can stay on your knees.”
MC felt her walls clench at the suggestion, so she silently turned around on her knees. Her body felt warm with arousal even though the sun had almost set and there was a slight breeze coming through the window.
Jihyun clenched his jaw at the sight of her gripping his shirt against her. The longer the session went on, the sultrier her eyes had gotten towards him. He could feel the front of his pants tighten against his girth.
“Turn your head to the right like before MC,” He swallowed thickly, “Close your eyes.” Her eyes slid closed at his command, slightly opening her mouth in the process. Jihyun snapped the photograph and exhaled shakily. “Perfect, MC, I think we are done.”
She lowered her arms to her sides, still holding his shirt in her hands. She turned to face him with the same alluring gaze she had worn for almost the entire session. She saw his eyes widen as he took in her appearance for what seemed like the first time. She knew that was not the case, the two had been intimate many times before but they never grew tired of the experience. He always appreciated her body like it was his one and only masterpiece; as did she.
She walked towards him slowly, dropping his shirt to the floor in the process. She could see the tension in his muscles as he stared down at her, it looked as if he was struggling with the anticipation just as much as she was. Once she was in front of him, she grabbed his hand gently to lead it to the base of her neck. The roughness of dry paint on his fingers caused a shudder to run through her body.
“Jihyun… I want you to ruin me…” Her voice came out as a strained plea to him. Her face was flushed with desire as she stared up at him with hooded eyes. That was all it took for Jihyun to succumb to temptation.
He gripped her hair in his hand as he pulled her against him in a tight embrace. He leaned his head down so he could envelop her lips in an ardent kiss. She let out a moan at the sensation of his passionate lips on hers.  Pressing her thighs together for relief, she could feel his thick member twitch against her stomach. They had shared many kisses before, but when the two were barely managing their love for the other, the kisses felt different. The kind and tentative Jihyun she had grown to love became a man who needed to express his love through carnal devotion.
Jihyun broke the kiss so he could place open mouth kisses along her jaw, down her neck, finally placing a gentle nibble on the base of her neck. He could feel her trembling in his tight embrace. I want you to feel as euphoric as I do, MC… Sucking gently, he wrapped his arms around the small of her back to press her as close as he could against him. The feeling of her breasts against his chest was intoxicating.
Out of desperation, MC buried one of her hands in Jihyun’s hair and used the other to cover her mouth. This was only the beginning and she was already beginning to feel overwhelmed by the feeling of his touch.
A gasp left her lips when he leaned his head back to look deeply into her eyes, “Please don’t quiet yourself. I love the sounds you make when you are like this.” Without breaking eye contact, he trailed feather light fingertips from the small of her back to her breast. He squeezed her nipple between his forefinger and thumb, eliciting an even louder moan from her plump lips.
Bending down a little, he placed his forehead on her shoulder. He could feel the heat of her skin seeping into him. His hands slithered down the length of her body, leaving a trail of goosebumps on MC’s skin. Trembling against him, MC gripped his hair tightly in her fist when she felt his large hands grip the supple skin of her thighs. He lifted her up with ease and laid her on the cushions, admiring the look of her beneath him while doing so.
A sense of pride swelled within him. It brought him great joy when he was able to see MC in the state she was in now. Her skin was flushed with titillation while her body trembled from even the slightest touch from him. Being able to fill her body with ecstasy was as addicting as her presence. He wanted to help her experience the overwhelming love he held for her every moment of every day. This was one of the best ways he knew how.
After he was done admiring MC, he made quick work of unbuttoning her shorts and sliding them down the length of her legs. Once he slid the shorts and underwear off, he tossed them aside. His turquoise eyes were focused on her dripping core, causing his length to strain against his now too tight jeans.
A confused look crossed MC’s face when she felt his hand wrap around her ankle but she quickly realized what he intended to do when he lifted her leg to place it on his shoulder. If she thought the room was warm before, the atmosphere was scorching now. The vulnerable position she was in made her want to cover her face from him, to shield her view from seeing the intent gaze he directed towards her soaked entrance.
“Perfect… You’re perfect.” Jihyun said this as he placed a light kiss against her ankle to show his adoration for her.
A lump formed in MC’s throat from the sudden declaration. How did he not see she felt the exact same way for him? She could see how perfect he was the first time she had met him. The first time she had messaged him even. She had been drawn to him like a hopeless moth to a flame. No matter the circumstances, he had always made her feel safe. Even when he was still broken from what life had thrown at him, he made her feel loved.
She closed her eyes to try and stop the tears from falling down her heated cheeks. Now was not the moment to be crying, if anything, she should be the one pampering him. Before she could compose herself, she felt him place her leg back onto the cushions. Two warm hands cupped her face and stroked the stray tears now fervently streaming down her cheeks.
“My love, what’s wrong?” Jihyun asked, concerned by the sudden change. Was it something he said? Did I do anything to make her uncomfortable?
“I’m sorry, Jihyun,” Her voice was thick with emotion as she opened her eyes to stare up at him, “I just … I love you so much. I don’t think I express it enough to you, but I really, really love you with every ounce of my being.”
Jihyun’s concern morphed into understanding as he watched the woman he loved more than life itself crying because she didn’t think her love shined for him enough. If only she knew how her love radiated from her with every glance she gave him and every delicate touch they shared. The tears streaming down her face caused his own emotions to rise within his chest. He took her hands in his so he could lead them to lightly touch his face. This way, she would be able to feel his own tears against her fingertips.
MC automatically began to stroke his cheeks with her thumbs as he said, “MC, you show me your love from the moment you wake until the moment you sleep. No, you even show your love in your sleep because you will call out my name in your dreams.” He breathed in a ragged breath before continuing, “You do not realize how your love saves me from my thoughts, my insecurities, my self-loathing… Your love made me realize I am worth more than how useful I am to others. Please… Please do not think for a second you are not enough because I think I am the one undeserving of you.”
“I thank whatever higher power there is for giving me the gift of your presence by my side, MC. I love you so much, I always pray we are together for all eternity because I do not think I could bear parting from you.”
Jihyun’s words stumbled from his mouth as he tried to show MC how intense his love was for her, but in doing so he began to lose his composure. The composure he always tried to keep when around MC began to crumble as the dam keeping his emotions suppressed withered away. She had seen him at his worst. She saw him when he was tattered, abused, and unable to properly love her. She waited for him. How could she ever think she did not show her love for him enough?
He was about to continue but he was silenced by the feeling of MC’s lips on his own. His wide eyes stared unblinking at her for a moment before sliding closed. The feeling of her lips against his was able to calm the roaring tide of his emotions stirring within himself. She understood what he was trying to say, she always did.
“Make love to me,” She murmured against his lips. She leaned her forehead against his as she said this, “Just as I will make love to you.”
Responding with words was unnecessary; he answered her by urgently placing his lips on hers once again. The fervent kiss between the two became desperate as MC reached down to fumble with the button of his jeans. She refused to break the kiss as she did so and smiled against his lips when she felt the jeans loosen in her grasp. With the button and zipper out of the way, she shoved his pants down just enough for her to grip his pulsing member.
Jihyun groaned into her mouth, shock waves of pleasure shooting through his veins. He was using both of his hands to keep his body weight from crushing her, or else he would have been using his deft fingers to delve deep into her essence. The kiss grew hungrier as Jihyun’s tongue darted into MC’s mouth, enjoying the feeling of his tongue against hers.
Jihyun was about to break the kiss so he could leave a trail of kisses down MC’s body. He desperately wanted to taste MC, but he was stopped by MC pulling on a handful of his hair to keep him pressed against her.
“I need you in me now, Jihyun.” How could he refuse such a request? He had always loved when MC was greedy with him. It made him feel loved. Needed.
Jihyun placed his hand over MC’s as he led his length to her inner folds. She writhed beneath him as she felt the tip of his cock flick over her clit a few times before being positioned in front of her entrance. His eyes never left her face as he slowly pushed himself into her, letting her grow accustomed to his large size before moving once again. A shudder ran through his body as her walls tightened around his girth.
“I love being inside of you, MC.” His voice was strained from ecstasy as he watched her arch her back from the sensations of being filled to the brim.
Her legs wrapped around his waist to pull him further into her, eliciting a hitched groan from her lips. One of her hands gripped a pillow tightly while the other was still tangled in his turquoise locks. Jihyun grunted when he felt MC’s muscles constrict around him, prompting him to begin his slow, steady rhythm.
His hands felt the dry paint on her back flaking off onto the pillows below her as he slid them underneath her to pull her body against his. His fingers dug into her skin as he felt his grip on his self-control slipping from his grasp. Sporadic pants and the sound of their bodies coming together were the only sounds heard in the now dimly lit living room.
The moonlight streaming through the window illuminated MC’s frame as Jihyun mercilessly thrusted into her drenched core. Jihyun repeated MC’s name as a mantra while he worshiped her body under the moon and stars. He slid one of his hands from the small of her back so he could reach in between their entwined bodies to circle her clit.
A startled cry ripped through her as she began to feel her walls begin to tighten even more around him, “Faster, Jihyun, faster!”
Jihyun began to plunge into her faster, more unsteady since he could already feel that he was on the edge as well. The feeling of her scorched him, making him wish she could brand her touch into his skin. His eyes flickered between her face twisted in pleasure and her breast which were bobbing up and down with every thrust he made. He wished he had more than two hands so he could pleasure her more.
“I’m so close, Jihyun, I’m so close!” She gasped out as she felt her legs trembling from the buildup of her impending orgasm.
“Come for me, MC. You look so gorgeous when you orgasm,” Jihyun grunted into her ear, her sweet cries fueling his desire even more.
MC’s nails dug into his skin as her body quivered against him, her orgasm wracking through her body. Fuck! She was so fucking wet and tight around him, he didn’t know how much longer he would last. His thrusts became sporadic as he felt her coming down from her high, already so close to his own climax.
MC could see how close he was by the labored expression on his face, so she leaned her head forward and bit the crevice of his neck gently. That was enough to push him over the edge. He called out her name as he came into her, continuing to pump into her a few times before coming to a stop.
Both of their breathing was still heavy as they stared into each other’s eyes, relishing the feeling of each other. After a few moments, Jihyun carefully slid out of her and laid on his side beside her on their makeshift palette. MC snuggled up to his side and kissed his shoulder before resting her head against it, just now registering how sweaty they were.
“I love you, Jihyun.”
“I love you, too, MC.”
The two laid in each other’s arms for the rest of the evening, enjoying each other’s presence and the comfortable silence they had grown to adore.
Jumin week 2020 Day 2 Prompt: Sweet wine
  @juminweek2019
The young girl seemed a little out of place between the well known artist and the CEO in line of C&R. She fiddled with the hem of her dark silk blouse and breathed in to calm herself down. Mc never really spent time with either Jumin or V alone. So having them both around herself felt a little intimidating at first. She knew that they would never do her any harm and they also promised to stay by her side for the whole wine tasting event. When Jumin offered her his arm she gladly hooked her own around his and let the young man guide her around.
It was strange having him so near when she could count down all the things she knew about Jumin on one hand. Mc really enjoyed his presence though, she felt safe around him and knew that he cared deeply for those who were closer to him than his business partners.
She glanced at him from the side a few times, looking away every time he seemed to notice her staring at him. This was the first time she noticed how good looking he was with his dark, messy hair, the sharp onyx eyes and his kind smile. She breathed in again and put her hair behind her ear. Not noticing Jumin watching her too every time she wasn’t looking at him.
The place was crowded with all kinds of people. Reporters, business folks and of course the staff of Vine Han. Mc heard voices and laughter out of every corner and couldn’t decide where to listen to first.
Jumin noticed her being a little bit overwhelmed and took her to a quieter place, where V already saved at a small table for four persons. He waved over to the both of them and greeted them with a warm smile, when they sat down. “Hey, you two would really make a great couple.” he blurted out, immediately regretting it after seeing his best friend’s grimace.   Before Jumin could even answer him, a waiter gave them their cards.
“Shall I give you a hand, Mc?” V asked, when he noticed her staring helplessly at the card.
“I think I’ll just follow your orders, I’ve never done something like this before.” she confessed and held the card up to hide the blush on her cheeks. The young men looked at each other and placed their order.
Soon after the crystal glasses clinked together. Each person sipping a little bit of the wine, feeling it on their tongue, savouring the aromatic taste of every wine. Each wine had a different taste. Bitter, dry, sweet.
Even if they never swallowed any of the wines, Mc felt a little bit dizzy after her fourth try. The young woman began giggling at the boys jokes and funny stories they told each other. Wiht the new found courage she also started to open up a little bit more and talked a lot about the work she did before she stumbled into the RFA. “I feel like I’m talking too much just now. How about you guys, how did you meet?”, the brown haired girl asked when she realized that she was balbbering aorund. Mc listened them carefully, watching the young men very closely when they told her the story of the first time they saw each other.
Another few glasses of sweet wine followed, the three of them felt lighter around their hearts. The flush of red on their cheeks got brighter with every glass that followed.
Only a few moments later - or were it hours?- V rose from his seat and rubbed the back of his neck. He cleared his throat before he tried to make his statement. “I think, I’ll pick up another bottle of the sweet wine, take good care of Mc, Jumin.”, was what he wanted to say, but only gibberish came out of him.
Jumin and Mc looked at him, both of them breaking out in heart warming laughter. Jihyun pouted, turned around and disappeared into the crowd. Hopefully he’ll get a bottle of water too.
“Hey, Mc, uhm, thank you for coming with us again, I really enjoyed this evening a lot.” Jumin said suddenly, breaking the silence that broke out ever since V disappeared. “No problem, it’s really fun. I’m sorry for taking my time to open up with you guys.” Mc said, her fingers ran softly over the glass, as if she was about to say something else. Jumin wanted to ask at first, but he held himself back again, just like he did a gazillion times before. He didn’t feel like it was his right to ask her all those questions. Then he heard the soft music playing and got an idea.
He stood up and reached out his hand, smiling at Mc with soft eyes.
“May I ask for this dance?”, the smile grew softer when she actually placed her tiny hand into his, while standing up.
“I’d gladly be your dance partner, Jumin,  BUT I’ll never make it up to your dancing skills, so I hope you won’t regret this.” her voice was trembling, and all of a sudden her heart began to race. Why was she feeling so nervous?
They swayed around to the music that was hard to hear. With the grass under her feet she felt as if she was about to lose her balance. But Jumins firm grip steadied her, giving her back the balance she needed.
“If it’s easier for you, you could also stand on my shoes.” his soft chuckle was merely but a whipser, because he was too anxious to talk without a lowered voice. as if the bubble would break when he talked louder than that.
“Isn’t that cheating?” Mc asked. However she got rid of her pumps and placed her feet on the young man’s shoes. Her hand let go of his and she placed them both around his neck. His free hand wandered to the free side of her waist and before he could even say something, he felt her head leaning into his chest.
The time seemed ot stay still around them, they only moved slowly to the beat. Both of them Moving very carefully. The young girl looked up at Jumin after some time, an angelic grin on her face made it hard for Jumin to keep his cool.
“Can I tell you a secret?” she blushed when she tilted her head to keep eye contact. “Of course you can. What is it?`”
“I think I fell in love with you. You’re such a kind, heartwarming person Jumin and actually I was super afraid of coming with you today. But I totally don’t regret it. I just, really started to like you… and … and..” Mc’s outburst was cut off by Jumin who placed a finger on her soft lips.
“Shhh… Don’t say something like that Mc, you’re drunk. It’s probably just the sweet wine speaking, right?” “I don’t think it is. It’s the truth!” She babbled and took the chance of surprise and jumped up a little bit to place a quick kiss on his lips, or the corner of mouth to be more exact.
“I hope I will remember this.” she mumbled into his chest, nuzzling her nose in his striped shirt.
“Oh don’t worry about that, I will remember this crystal clear.” Jumin said and kissed her hair, stroking over it with one hand.
His heart felt light and he closed his eyes. The stung in his heart told him that it would soon be over though. Jumin tried to enjoy the few moments he had, savouring each second of it like the sweet wine they tasted together. Soon she would snap out of her cloud and sobered up enough to stay away from him again.
The Birthday Debacle || Choi Twin’s Birthday 2020
Summary: Saeyoung and Saeran have always celebrated their birthday together since the events of Mint Eye, but there’s one person they didn’t know who also shared a birthday with them
Word Count: 3.9K
Tumblr media
\“We have a problem." Was not something Saeran Choi wanted to hear on the day of his birthday party. But alas, Saeyoung just had to say it, didn't he? "It's also MC's birthday. I totally forgot about it after doing my background check on her but now I just remembered."
Saeran’s hands started to sweat and he could feel his heartbeat speed up; how could he forget his own girlfriend's birthday? Why didn’t he know it in the first place? It’s been three years since they met, why has this never come up before? “You’re telling me that she probably thinks that we’ve forgotten her birthday for three years now? You have got to be kidding me.”
“I’m sorry! But isn’t it her boyfriends job to remember?” Saeyoung threw his hands in the air and walked off. “I’ll start making the cake, if you want to call and let everyone know it’s also MC’s birthday and we should expect to surprise her.” Saeran mumbled a thanks under his breath and pulled out his phone, already dialing Jumin’s number.
“Saeran, I’m going to see you soon, am I not?” Jumin questioned on the end of the line and Saeran felt a bubble of anger rise in his throat. He wasn’t angry at Jumin, he was angry because he never even thought to ask your birthday and now you probably thought no one cared.
“You are, but there’s been a slight change of plans.” Saeran explained to Jumin that it was your birthday as well as his and Saeyoung’s and that he needed Jumin to stall you for a few hours. “Can you just take her to get a new dress or something? Make her pick out a few and then have her wear her favorite one to the party. I’ll send you a new wine I found as compensation.”
Jumin knew the reason that he was asked to take you was simple: you were closest with him aside from Saeran, and knew that you’d be less suspicious of him than anyone else. So, that’s how Jumin found himself taking a detour to your small apartment, waiting out front until you were planning to leave to meet everyone else for the party.
When you stepped outside, your eyes glanced over the car inquisitively before Jumin saw you smile and rush to meet him. “Jumin, what a lovely surprise!” You exclaimed, leaning over and pressing a friendly kiss to his cheek, him doing the same to you.
“I have to admit, the reason I’m here is purely selfish. I just didn’t want to show up to the party alone and I needed your help with something.” Jumin explained before the driver started the car up, driving in the opposite direction of Saeyoung and Saeran’s bunker. “I need your help choosing a new suit to wear. I’m getting tired of the same grey color every time.”
“Oh Jumin, you know I love to help you but isn’t that what your tailor is for? I don’t want to be late for the party.” You pulled out your phone and looked at the time, nervously chewing your lip. “Can’t we do this after?” Jumin was having none of your objections and instead insisted on sitting on his phone, ignoring whenever you would complain about being late.
When you pulled up to the nicest clothing store you’ve ever seen, you saw Jumin eye a gorgeous white, pink, and green floral dress in the window. “That would look nice on you.”
And that’s how you ended up trying on dress after dress while Jumin looked at some dark blue suits. Jumin had deemed himself the fashion police and every time he didn’t like something you had tried on, he just sent you right back in with another dress in your hand.
At the Choi household, chaos had ensued after the fact that it was also your birthday came out. Saeyoung was in the kitchen baking a second cake for you, a little personal one for you and Saeran to share together later. Saeran and Jihyun were going through all the decorations and trying to fix them so they said “Happy birthday Saeyoung and Saeran! And MC!” Jaehee was running around with Yoosung and Zen, trying to pick out a few perfect presents for you since no one had time to shop before.
Finding his brother in the kitchen with vanilla frosting decorating his face, Saeran chuckled. “I think you missed the cake.”
“I was just taste testing it. What if it was bad? We wouldn’t want MC to get sick.” Saeyoung protested and Saeran reached across his brother to dip his finger in the frosting as well.
“Well, it tastes good enough to me.” After standing and watching his twin messily frost the cake for a moment before speaking again. “Hey, thanks.”
Saeyoung stopped his movements, putting down the knife and turning towards his other half. “What on earth are you thanking me for?”
Saeran turned his gaze to the floor, sure that if he looked straight at his brother he wouldn’t be able to explain correctly. “When we were younger, you always promised you’d come back for me. For a long time, I lost any sort of hope that you would. When I was under Rika’s control, there was only hatred left for you, she erased all the good memories from our childhood. But you never gave up on me. You sat silently day after day and waited for me to come around and I just wanted to say thank you. I’m glad you're my brother.”
Saeyoung felt tears well up in his eyes and he hesitantly stepped towards Saeran, wanting to embrace him but needing the confirmation first. Saeran wrapped his arms around his brother tightly for a moment before letting go and clearing his throat. “You should probably finish that cake.” He noted before walking off, presumably in search of something else to do.
Saeyoung Choi was turning 25 this year and finally, he was in a place in his life that he was happy with. He had great friends and his brother back at his side. They were his family, albeit a dysfunctional one, but what family wasn’t? Even MC, who came later than everyone else, fit right in. In his mind, she was his and Saeran’s honorary triplet (except not really, since you and Saeran were together and that would be gross) since they all shared a birthday. That’s why this year needed to be extra special. It was the first year that they were actually celebrating everyone’s birthday together.
Saeran approached his brother for a second time that morning and set a large box down in front of him, away from the cake. “I got this for you. It’s not much but-“
“I love it!” Saeyoung laughed as his brother looked at him exasperatedly.
“You haven’t even opened it, you idiot.” Saeran deadpanned and then gestured for his brother to open the box.
Inside the box was the biggest Longcat pillow Saeyoung had ever seen and he gasped, hugging it tightly to his chest. “It’s perfect,” looking his brother in the eyes, Saeyoung sincerely thanked Saeran. “Wait here for a moment.”
Saeyoung returned with a large book and promptly handed it to Saeran. Turning it over, Saeran smiled softly at the cover. It was a picture of them together on their first birthday, faces both covered with cake and smiling at the other. Inside was every picture Saeyoung could find of them together or Saeran alone and later on, pictures of MC and the rest of the RFA was added in there. “Saeyoung..”
“I know it’s kind of cheesy, but I wanted to show you that no matter what type of childhood we had, we always had each other and there’s so many people who care about you.” Without saying anything, Saeran grabbed his brother tightly, a sob wracking through his whole body.
“Thank you. Seriously.” After straightening up, Saeran wiped his eyes and went to go put the scrapbook in his room, hidden in a safe place so nothing could damage it.
There was a knock on his bedroom door and he smoothed out his sweater, turning to see Yoosung in the doorway. “Hey, MC and Jumin are on their way. We’re all going to hide and surprise her when they walk in.” Saeran nodded and followed Yoosung to the living room silently, crouching behind a chair and feeling utterly guilty about missing your birthday.
Shutting off the lights, Zen announced that you were at the security gate, struggling to answer the question Saeyoung currently had set for security measures. Saeran smiled to himself, remembering the first time he brought you to the bunker and how frustrated you got with the simple question. How when he finally told you, your neck flushed red and you thanked him with a small kiss.
As soon as he heard the door start to rattle, his smile on his face got bigger, just imagining your face and how surprised you’ll be. “Jumin, the lights are off. Are you sure they’re still-“
As you walked in the door, Zen flicked on the lights and everyone jumped out, screaming a variation of “Happy birthday, MC!”
Your hand covered your mouth and tears welled up in your eyes as Saeran hastily made his way towards you, wrapping his arm around your body as you buried your face in his solid chest.”Happy birthday, Saeran. I love you.” You waited a moment before asking, “how did you know?”,voice muffled by his sweater.
“I’m just sorry we didn’t find out sooner, my love. Why wouldn’t you tell me?” One of Saerans hands pushed your hair back from your forehead and he pressed a soft kiss to the exposed skin.
“Because the first year you celebrated your birthday with Saeyoung, was the first time since you reconnected and I wanted you to have that day with your brother. After that, it just felt too late to tell you so I just never bothered.” You explained and turned towards Jumin. “You’re sneaky, Mr. Han. I can’t believe I didn’t figure this out sooner.” Saeran took that moment to truly study you for the first time in about a week, since that was when he saw you last. You were wearing a blue tea dress, small flowery patterns swirling around - one of the three dresses Jumin had gotten you. Your hair was partially up and it showed off more of your neck than normal, and he smiled to himself when he saw a necklace he had gotten for you on your second Valentine’s Day together dangling down the front of your dress.
“Happy birthday, MC!” Saeyoung exclaimed and wrapped his arms around your waist, twirling you around. Saeran smiled at his brother and partner getting along and he mouthed a thank you towards Jumin, who held up his hand in a way to say “no problem.”
When you pulled away from Saeyoung, you made your way around the room with hello’s and thank you’s making sure to ask everyone how they were doing. Saeran loved that about you, the fact that you remembered such intimately personal details about all your friends; it made everyone know you cared and made them care for you even more.
After you finished your conversation with Jaehee, Saeran gently took your hand and pulled you towards the couch, loving the laugh that you let out as he settled you down on his lap. “What do you say we get out of here later? I love all our friends but I’d really just like to spend some time with you, Princess.” You bit your lip and nodded quickly pressing a kiss to his lips and laughing at the blush that settled on his cheeks.
“I would like that, I want to give you your present alone.” Saeran couldn’t help but let his mind wander at that comment and you laughed, smacking his chest. “Not like that, you dork. It’s just not something anyone else needs to see.”
Saeran smirked, lightly peppering your neck with kisses. “Your not helping your case by saying that.”
“You are unbelievable!” You laughed as you squirmed in his grip, Saeran hitting the ticklish spot on your neck.
“MC, we got this for you. Since we didn’t know it was your birthday, we looked for something to suit you. We hope you will find it suitable.” Jaehee handed you a small velvet box and you felt a smile creep onto your face before sneaking a peek at Saeran, who’s smile was almost mirroring your own. Opening the box you gasped as you saw a bracelet with a locket inside it.
Skipping it on your wrist, you felt Zen grab the charm and open it for you, showing you the pictures inside. One side was the group picture you took on the twins first birthday together and on the other, a picture of you and Saeran asleep, you curled in his lap with one of his hands in your hair, the other wrapped protectively around your waist. “This is beautiful. Seriously, thank you guys.” You got up to hug each of your friends and when you got to Saeyoung you pulled out a small box for him. “Happy birthday Saeyoung.”
He opened the box and saw it was a customized HBC and PhD. Pepper keychain to put on his car keys. Laughing he booped you on the nose before pulling you into another hug. “Thanks so much MC.”
After some more gift exchanging from the other members of the RFA, you noticed Saeran’s eyes starting to glass over, a clear sign he was getting overstimulated and needed a break from people for a moment. Grasping his hand, you shook him out of his trance and motioned your head to the front door. “Want to go take a walk?” Smiling gratefully at you, Saeran got up and you wordlessly followed him to his room where he grabbed two sweatshirts, one for him and one for you.
“I know it’s summer but the nights get colder now. I want you to stay warm.” He explained, once again taking hold of your hand and leading you out the door. “Thanks for noticing I needed a break.”
You squeezed his hand gently and he brought your entwined hands up to his lips, pressing a lingering kiss to the top of your hand. “I notice everything about you, Saeran.” You replied honestly, smiling to yourself when you saw a blush dust the tips of his ears. “Can I give you your present now?”
You guys had stopped and sat down at a park bench when you handed him a heavy bag. He looked at you curiously before pulling the paper out and handing the crumpled ball to you, grunting slightly as he pulled out the large picture frame. “It’s… constellations?” He asked, confusion written all over his face.
Laughing, you pointed to the bottom. “Look at the date.”
Saeran’s eyebrows knit together in confusion before a look of realization dawned on his face. “The day we met.”
You nodded, wrapping your arms around one of his, grateful for his sweatshirt he insisted you put on before you left the party. “Those are the constellations in the sky on the exact date, time, and location when we first met.” You explained, looking at his face as he studied the frame carefully, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “I didn’t know what to get you for the longest time, to be honest. You’re picky and I didn’t want to get you anything that wasn’t sentimental, like I got Saeyoung.” You laughed and Saeran pulled you closer to him, pressing a kiss to the side of your head. “But I figured this would be good, since it’s sentimental and something you can always use. Let’s be honest, your room does need something on the walls.” You teased him and your heart swelled when Saeran laughed along with you.
“It’s perfect. Seriously, MC. I couldn’t picture anything better.” Saeran had set down the picture frame and was looking deeply in your eyes, grasping both of your hands. “I’m sorry I don’t have anything for you.”
You shook your head, smiling. “I don’t need anything. Being with you and the rest of our friends are enough. You’re the most important thing to me.” Saeran smiled widely before pulling you into a deep kiss. It was a kiss that said way more than words ever could. It   love and thoughtfulness, hope and adoration. It was the type of kiss you would remember forever. It was the type of kiss that proved to you that true love was real.
“As much as I would like to keep you to myself for the rest of the night, I think we need to get back.” Saeran said, a little out of breath as he pulled away, his forehead still pressed against yours.
You let out a small whine as he laughed and pulled you up, holding you close with one hand and holding the bag with your present in the other. On the way back to the bunker, you spotted an ice cream shop, the lights still shining brightly and you stopped your boyfriend. Pointing to the shop, you smiled as his eyes lit up. “Want some ice cream before we head back?”
“MC, do you even have to ask?” Saeran asked seriously and you laughed out loud before he dragged you inside. “Can I get a strawberry on a cone and a vanilla in a cup?” You smiled at the fact that he remembered your order before you remembered you should stop being impressed. Saeran remembered everything you’ve ever told him, even if you didn’t remember telling him. Of course he did, you were his pride and joy.
No matter how much you insisted, Saeran wouldn’t let you pay for the ice cream. “I have three years of birthdays to make up for, please don’t fight me with this.” He pleaded, taking your hand before walking out the door of the ice cream parlor.
Sneaking a glance at Saeran, you suppressed a giggle as you saw a bit of ice cream on his nose. He looked down at you and as he did, you reached up on your tiptoes, kissing the tip of his nose and promptly cleaning his face of ice cream. “You had ice cream on your nose,” you explained as he looked at you with a bewildered expression.
Saeran silently pressed a kiss to your lips. “You had ice cream on your lips.” He stated, like it was the most mundane thing ever.
The rest of your walk back to the party was quiet, the both of you just enjoying being in the others company. When you got to the door with the security questions, you stepped back, happy to let your boyfriend figure out the answer.
“MC, Saeran! There you are.” Yoosung flocked to your side as soon as you stepped into the front door, linking his arm with yours. “You guys have to blow out your candles on the cake!”
“Well, uh, I actually don’t want cake.” You stayed and when everyone looked at you like you were crazy, you went on to explain. “When Saeran and I were out, we got ice cream.”
“Speak for yourself, Princess. I still want some cake.” Saeran released your hand and kissed the top of your head before heading over to sit by his twin. You went and stood by Jumin and Jihyun, a smile on your face as you watched Saeran and Saeyoung argue over who was going to blow out the candle on which cake.
Once they settled their little debacle (Saeran took the vanilla cake and Saeyoung, the chocolate), you all started to sing happy birthday and you laughed as everyone tried to fit Saeran’s, Saeyoung’s, and your name into the song. As your two birthday twins blew out the candles, you felt a tap on your shoulder and Zen stood before you, a smaller cake with your name written sloppily on it with one candle in the center. You smiled at him and blew it out before returning your attention to the birthday boys who were now both eating their first bite of cake.
Saeran gestured for you to come by him and you complied, sitting on his lap as he wrapped his arms around you. Jaehee pulled out her camera and you were about to ask why when you felt something sticky on each side of your face.
Saeyoung couldn’t contain the giggles that had bubbled up in his throat at the look on your face and he doubled over, laughing so hard he fell out of the chair. “I’ll give you both five seconds to run.” The twins each looked at the other and then you were pushed out of Saeran’s lap, both of them running to hide. You immediately chased after your boyfriend, quickly catching up to him and pressing your cheek against his, making sure to rub the frosting all over his face as well. He pulled you closer to him, his face close to yours as he whispered. “Happy birthday, MC. I love you.”
“Happy birthday Saeran, I love you too.” You replied before gently kissing him.
“Happy birthday Saeyoung, I love you.” You heard the other twin say to himself and you and Saeran both broke apart with a giggle playing on both of your lips.
-
“Hey, Jaehee just sent us the pictures she took from the party, do you want to see them?” Saeyoung sat down next to his brother on his bed.
“Sure,” Saeran replied, turning his attention away from the book he was reading. As Saeyoung spread the pictures out in front of the two boys, Saeran smiled at all the pictures that were there. Pictures of him with his brother, Yoosung, you, and every other combination of all of his friends was laid out in front of him.
“What do you think about adding these to your scrapbook?” Saeyoung asked, laughing as he saw his brother's eyes transfixed on the picture of you and him kissing, cake frosting all over both of your faces.
“I think that’s a good idea, but if you don’t mind I think I’d like to keep this one out of it.” Saeran grabbed the picture his eyes hadn’t left. “I’d like to frame this one. Keep it where I can see it no matter what.”
Saeyoung smiled at his lovestruck brother. “Of course.” Patting his brother on the back, Saeyoung removed himself from the bed. “Hey Saeran?”
Looking up at his brother, Saeran answered him quietly. “Yeah?”
“Thanks for being my brother. I can’t wait to celebrate our birthday together next year.” Saeyoung said before leaving the room.
“I can’t wait either,” Saeran whispered, picking up the picture of him and his brother blowing out the cake candles together. “I’m so lucky to have you.”
hi, i have a quick little question about jihyun week! when you say that v must be the main character, does that mean that the fic must be centered around v or that he has to be the point of view character? like, say i wanted to write about a character’s relationship with v, and the fic is centered totally around him, but the character we follow is the other party, is that still within the rules?
Yes, as long as the fic centered around V!
Any POV is okay 😊
Jihyun Week 2020
Day 3. Ocean
I was thinking about redrawing the New Year's Eve cover from the game, but I decided to come with something more simple.
He looks at the ocean with melancholy. Maybe is he thinking about the lost of his beloved?
First day of Jihyun Week: Fairytale | Temptation
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: V | Jihyun Kim/Main Character
Warning: N/A
Word Count: 1,342
Summary: Set in day 9 of V's Another Story route.V experienced temptation only once in his life: when his mother reconnected with him and showed him another way of living his life. After she died tragically it never happened again. However, when she embraced him during one of the biggest trials of his life... everything changed.
Gold
All V ever knew in his childhood was his father. V lived in his shadow, absorbing it into his own. As he walked the path his father laid for him he learned not to want for inferior things. Money, success, winning… those were the only things that mattered. Everything else outside of that must bolster him or otherwise discarded. V wanted to be a good son—the best son. He followed every doctrine thrown his way, weaving its threads through his DNA.
Until his mother entered his life.
V had his wall, unmovable and solid. Yet his mother, with her gentle and unconditional love, walked through his defences. Inevitably he got to know her and spend time with her. And for the first time, V was curious. What would it be like to look around? What else existed outside the path he walked on? He asked himself questions before he realised he asked them. He wanted to know though he knew it was wrong. Often, his eyes turned to his mother who seemed to hold all the answers. His world, which was so strictly grayscale, now had pops of colour that started to spread. If he took that step he would’ve learned so many things; he wouldn’t have grown up so hollow. His mother encouraged him to reach out and it strengthened his curiosity.
But… it wasn’t stronger than his father’s grip.
So he resisted.
And the result of that resistance… it hurt too much to think about.
This was a part of his life he never revealed. He buried this so deep inside that no evidence of it showed on his outward appearance. Jumin knew, of course; he was the only one—and even then his knowledge was that of a witness’. It was all dark, ugly, and shameful. V never spoke about it.
So what was it about her?
What magic did she have that had the words spilling from his lips without his control? Why hasn’t she walked away? They only met eight days ago. Just by knowing him she’s experienced so many terrifying things. Everything he told her was enough to disgust or scare people into leaving... but here she was. She stood before him. Around him were her arms.
She held him.
No one’s ever held him like this. Not since his mother. He pushed away from her support and love when she offered it to him. His harsh rejection ended in tragedy. After everything he’d done he shouldn’t be experiencing something like this. As he continued to talk, her arms tightened around him. His heart warmed in her gentle care. With her he was safe.
“I keep thinking… I want to be positive with you,” he said.
V gazed at her. Her hair looked black in the dark. With every breath, her shoulders shook. Around him her arms felt like twigs. Within the walls of Magenta, she appeared strong and resilient. Now, though… somehow she looked so fragile and vulnerable.
“Maybe I’m leaning on you…” he continued softly to himself.
She was the one holding him, supporting him, even though she was the one that needed all those things. That thought brought a strange feeling within him. Inside his emptiness, something sparked to life. It wasn’t curiosity, like with his mother—rather it was desire.
He wanted to hold her.
Though he had no right to. He shouldn’t be selfish.
Still, he raised his arms—slowly.
“These ideas used to make me uneasy,” he said, voice shaking. “But when you agreed to them… they’re renewed. Now, they mean something different.”
He circled his arms around her. He closed his eyes and whispered, “Thank you so much for coming into my life. Thank you so much… I would do anything for you…”
Snap.
A weight dropped on his shoulders at the sound. The light within him extinguished. He knew what it was before it manifested itself. It was her presence—strong and imposing, impossible to ignore to those attuned to it. Sighing, he dropped his arms. Though he didn’t get to hold her he still felt a significant loss. Though she still held him he already missed her.
“Please, excuse me,” he said, shaking his head. “I got a little emotional. It’s been a while since I last talked about my mother...”
“It’s okay,” she assured him, squeezing her arms around him. “You can talk about her as much as you want… I’m always here to listen to you.”
The sincerity in her words was unmistakable. He smiled.
“I appreciate that.”
She nods.
Soon after, though, his smile dropped. He sighed with guilt and reluctance as he said, “I’m sorry to ask, but… do you mind giving me a moment?”
At this, she looked up at him and frowned.
“Are you sure?” she said. “It’s dark and dangerous out here...”
Her pupils were wide, trying to see him in the dark. She looked especially delicate and innocent. There were strands of hair stuck to her cheek and he so badly wanted to brush them away. But he didn’t because he shouldn’t; now was not the best time.
“I’ll be fine,” he assured her. “The drug’s almost worn off, and Luciel might be looking for us.”
“Right…”
She stepped back. Now that she no longer hugged him he felt a little less, a little emptier. Within and around him it was no longer warm. He wanted to tuck her hair behind her ear, but he shouldn’t—somehow that fact made the desire so much stronger. It was something he had to fight against.
“Please go ahead,” he said. “If he asks about me then please let him know I’ll return after getting some air.”
“Okay…” she said dubiously. “If you’re sure…”
“I am,” he smiled. “Watch your step. The mountain paths are rocky.”
“Then, please excuse me…”
She made a little bow and then started making her way to the cabin. He watched her walk down the path, hoping that she didn’t trip over any uneven ground. Then, his smile dissipated. Once, she looked back at him and he waved to assure her, which she returned before continuing her trek. He saw the cabin from where he stood; he made certain she was inside before facing the darkness.
“I know you’re here,” he said. “How did you find me?”
There was no answer to his question for a few seconds. A niggle of doubt appeared in his mind. Perhaps it was the drug and it had made him paranoid… but there was no mistaking this feeling. He couldn’t mistake her presence. Then, suddenly… there. The branches of a nearby tree rustled and something moved in the shadows. Her black dress made her part of the darkness but her golden hair stood out from the inky backdrop. She held herself regally, much different from the Rika he knew. As he gazed at her beatific expression he sensed something was wrong.
“Luciel was careless,” she answered softly. “The coordinates leaked.”
V looked around, trying to see past the darkness. He knew what he was looking for but he couldn’t muster the nerve to voice it. As Rika stood before him he wouldn't meet her eyes; he tried to look over her shoulders, waiting for... something to happen.
“Don’t worry,” Rika continued. “I’m the only one who came.”
That worried him more. Sighing, he gave up and looked over his shoulder at the cabin instead. Surely it was only a few minutes ago since she went inside but somehow it felt like hours. He wanted to be there with her, maybe actually hug her as he desired to do before. But he couldn’t. Not when he still has so many things to do to amend for his sins, so many more things to do to make everything right. So when the time came for her to leave that cabin… she and everyone he ever loved was safe. He sighed, closing his eyes and offering a silent apology to her.
Then, he turned back to Rika and closed the distance between them.
