I've been holding out so much hope every Thursday man. When I started jjk it was for no particular reason, I was bored and at a bookstore in which they had the first volume. I picked it up just because and started reading, thought it was alright, and decided to take it home.
In the beginning I thought it was decent but I wasn't really sure if I wanted to commit to reading the whole series, much less purchasing all the physical volumes. It wasn't like other series I've read before that immediately held my interest and obsession from the first chapter. The most interesting thing for me at first were the chapters with Junpei and Mahito. Mahito was the first character in the series I considered my favorite. I decided to just try giving Jujutsu Kaisen a chance and kept reading.
Honestly....I can't exactly say when I started really getting into this series. I can't say when it became something that I was actually excited to read and talk about. Maybe it was hidden inventory, when my love of tragic relationships was blessed by whatever the hell Geto and Gojo had going on. Maybe it was shibuya when Yuji started to become so much more interesting to me then just a typical protagonist and Mahito was at an all time high in his antics. Maybe it was the culling games with Takaba who I really liked from the beginning or the atmosphere post-Shibuya where it felt like Yuji was in a world turned upside down. Maybe it was learning more about Kenjaku and realizing how much more creepy and sinister they were, from their technique to their manipulation of events to the birth of Yuji and creation of the death paintings. Maybe it was just how batshit insane the fandom became.
Regardless, even if it isn't what I would call my favorite manga or even media in general, Jujutsu Kaisen was and is still a very influential series to me. Even if I only really just started sharing what I think online as opposed to just lurking it's still something I've put time and money and lots of my interest into consuming and thinking about. I'm honestly sad as hell that it's ending even if that's to be expected and even if the anime is still ongoing. Every Thursday I've been wondering what Gege would decide to do with these characters I like and whether or not all these interesting things he created would be fully explored. I can't really blame Gege that much since serialization is very hard on creators and it's his first time making something as big as this....but it's still a little disappointing to know we only have five chapters left and so little of the things I wished we could've seen actually integrated in the story. Man.....no merger? Really? No Itadori family/Jin exposition or Heain era flashback? No Tengen and Kenjaku back in the day? NO HAKARI VS URAUME????
Well....whatever I guess. Even if things end and it's absolutely not what anyone wanted I suppose we still have our own thoughts to sit with. Fanworks exist for a reason. I don't know how long I'll stay in this fandom...but I definitely don't think I'll be leaving soon. I guess I look forward to seeing how it ends even if it absolutely obliterates me the way 261 did and obliterates the fandom the way 236 did.
It's been fun!

with the new chapter out which NTR scenario do you prefer … kenjaku cheating on jin with sukuna or kenjaku cheating on sukuna with jin?
i can see either because ofc jin & kenny were technically married but also sukuna & kenny knew each other before that so id like to think that kenny hooking up with jin is revenge for sukuna not willing to give kenny babies 😩
yes it works both ways! I believe jinken is part of sukuken, the connection jin has with sukuna is what made kenny had a marriage life with him, imagine kenny's fingers brush through jin's pink hair while thinking about sukuna...their relationship only gets more interesting I wish gege could show us all the details, and as you said it kinda looks like sukuna not willing to give kenny babies but kenny still managed to did it anyway lol, it's just so funny also the fact that they lived together for over a month before fighting with gojo, but during this time sukuna didn't even question kenny about the whole yuji situation, what's wrong with them!!! gege tell me now

At the same time I have a fic with two separate endings I wanna do and I love it so much!!
I also have.... a cursed sukurella fic I wanna start so 💀
And a cursed JinKen fic I wanna start that I feel like I can make sweet and a commentary on humanity and what it means to live and love 🥹
Lastly a cute, hurt/comfort stsg fic. Maybe no more than 3k~ cause it's just a feel good story
Almost forgot, an angsty/smutty Kenny x gojo fic
If any of my followers aren't bots, could y'all vote on this poll please?
(all of these fics would have smut except sukurella and stsg unless ppl really want it!!!)
im a whole ass author irl but I feel like this list is so cursed and wonder what my readers would think frfr 💀

the thing is that I found mori ogai’s work super boring until I found it horrifying. I kind of hate the four essays on a personal level which has nothing to do with their quality and everything to do with having to write an essay on him and toson at the crunch time of the semester took It the fuck out of me and has stalled all my other work for a week and a half, but the thing is that “the incident at sakai/sakai jinken” genuinely is a fantastic story about the necropolitical control of human death in between two different nationalisms and it’s haunting but also Jesus fuck on writing an essay

you’re so right about needing that jinken story… every detail gege reveals about kenny and sukuna and that whole mess going on just makes me crave Heian or Yuji birth story flashback even more… like gege please!!!!
maybe im being delusional but it’s always on my mind that sukuna doesn’t really direct any anger at Kenny over the yuji thing and also the fact that sukuna willingly took over the merger too!! like please this feels like a husband being overly indulgent of his wife’s weird tastes 😭😭 gege when do we get the reveal that sukuken had a deep past 😭
exactly! that's what I've been saying, sukuna is weirdly tolerant of kenny, kenny caused so many trouble but he just seems not upset with them at all, letting kenny do whatever they want, even that one time he said kenny is gross he's kinda smiling, and I'll never forget how sukuna jumped out suddenly to save kenny from gojo, why are they like this...i have so many questions 😭
so call me delusional but I believe sukuna likes kenny a lot, you wouldn't casually hang out with someone you hate after a thousand years, not to mention this guy had a son with your dead twin and jailed you in their son, seriously gege I need that heian flashback right now, let me see their deep past i can't take it anymore

one thing that i quite like about japanese is the fact that. kanji are weird.
like, if you have any knowledge of the language you probably know about kunyomi and onyomi readings, and how where the kanji is placed in a word can completely change its pronunciation. ie, you can have 人 which is "hito" by itself, 人間 "ningen" in this word, 人権 "jinken" in this word, and 人目 "hitome" in this word.
which is just the tip of the iceberg, because even those rules can be cheerfully thrown out if you use a kanji in a name. you can have someone be named 人仁 and have that be pronounced megumi, because fuck you. sure, it's probably not the most common usage of that, but you can fucking do it if you want.
You know how when an anime set at school introduces a new character, and they write their name on the board? Thats because there are so many fucking ways to read kanji in names that it's highly likely that you won't be able to guess how it's pronounced unless they tell you.
I mention this because. For the longest fucking time. I was like. Okay. All of the named inuzuka clan members are body parts, Kiba/Tsume/Hana are, respectively, Fang/Claw/Nose, just written in katakana. I kind of cheated a bit with Hasami's name because while it can technically mean "claws" its more like. "pincers", like a scorpion. But it sounded pretty and it had other possible meanings that i liked, so I kept it.
However, Tsume is, importantly, Hasami's aunt, not her mom. I'd been sitting on her mom's name for fucking ages because none of the other names I knew for body parts sounded right.
And then I remembered, oh yeah, if it's in a name, kanji is fucking bullshit. I can just do whatever the fuck I want, actually. Especially considering this direct quote from the third databook:
Q: "How do you choose a name for a character" Kishimoto: "I choose japanese nouns that sound good as a name"
its free fucking real estate, baby.
so im tentatively naming her メザキ/Mezaki because that's one of the many many possible readings of 目 (eye)
