What do you think are Naruto and Sasuke’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic? Sorry if you've answered these questions before.....

from the manga, naruto's greatest strength is his persistence to achieve his goal. since we're talking about sasuke and naruto, i'll focus more on both of them. naruto's persistence to bring sasuke back to konoha ignoring gaara and jiraiya's ideas is a great act of love. given the context in which sasuke found himself being a member of akatsuki and being one of the most dangerous ninjas in the world, naruto carried great responsibility when dealing with the uchiha at that time, because it was about entering a minefield, as literally all the villages, especially the cloud village (due to the “capture” of killer bee) wanted to see him dead, as he represented an obvious threat.

during this text i wrote, i included some panels from the manga to remember these moments…

in addition, naruto's greatest weakness is sasuke (see how much he put his life at risk in the lines i wrote above because of uchiha). naruto took a risk by personally asking the raikage not to kill sasuke, he was violently beaten by karui to protect sasuke, he lost control of the kyubi's chakra in the fight against orochimaru because of sasuke and he had a panic attack with the overload of emotions that he was having everything happening at the same time. anyway, a lot happened during the manga that clearly shows the risk that Naruto took to protect sasuke, this is a sign of weakness but also a sign of the unbreakable bond between the two.

about sasuke, his biggest strength is his determination. again, i’m making this synthesis only with the relationship between naruto and sasuke: from the first interaction between them, in the fight against haku we saw his determination to abandon his revenge against Itachi (which was his biggest goal in life) to sacrifice himself for naruto (remembering that he already lost his family once and didn't want it to happen twice).

sasuke's biggest weakness is naruto. remember that his main objective was to defeat his older brother itachi, to obtain revenge for what happened to his clan, but one of the requirements to achieve this according to itachi was to obtain the mangekyou sharingan, that is, killing naruto. he managed to obtain victory against naruto in the valley of the end but he was unable to end his life.

when i talked about the determination to be the greatest strong point of sasuke we also have to remember that this quality almost brought the death of naruto because thus, the only weakness of the uchiha would go before his eyes.

okay but the Naruto universe is so fucking weird yet funny if you explain it and question it.

first, you have this lil orphan broke kid ninja boy named after a fishroll. then, you have an emo kid who acts like he got parents and a good way in life despite the fact he’s equally as much of an orphan as Mr. Broke-Blonde-Bitch. THEN you have this normal chick with pink hair who signed up for absolutely none of this nonsense yet got dragged into it. tell me why it’s these three against the world yet none of them can function together? it’s like watching ferrets hyped up on PCP fight over raw spaghetti noodles. dont even get me started when they were in school together, i can bet every person here 6 cents that at some point Sakura aka Ms. Fuckall got tired of Naruto and Sasuke’s bullshit and just tried to abandon them at an animal shelter.

speaking of school and general tomfoolery, why was the dude in charge of these three young squishy brained freaks the most depressed 20 something year old creature on the planet? i will admit, Kakashi is attractive and a great dude. he is so iconic, he misses his old team, and it’s clear he wanted best for his Group of Weird Children but he also reads porn all day and his mask probs smells like cheap aftershave.

if i was a 13 year old ninja child and i saw my sensai (who’s name sounds like cashew) doing all that i’d assume im either about to learn a sick ass skill (how to not cope with emotional trauma properly) or im about to get my ass handed to me. or im about to dropout.

back on track. so you’ve got orphan #1, orphan #2, Ms. Get-Me-Out-Of-Here, and Emotionally Repressed Man in one team. what do the kids do? beef for like 3048384 episodes. what does Kakashi do? try to teach them the power of friendship the entire damn series. oh, and let’s not forget that Naruto apparently has a demon fox inside him because of course he does.

anyways, once the team gets good at teaming they haul off to take their lil ninja exams. who do they meet? some kid named Gaara with smudged eyeliner and shaved brows. he’s a red-head, that’s cute. oh and he can control sand and tries to kill every child in the exams because his dad is a piece of shit hipster. who else do they meet? a kid named Rock Lee who can kick really hard, a girl named Tenten who wishes for all of us to stfu, and poor Neji who can’t keep doing this. there’s also some guy named Guy. yeah, the chunin exams nearly flop because Gaara doesn’t know how to act right.

all this is happening but the pivotal of it all? Sasuke decides to be extra emo and FUCKS OFF TO KILL HIS HALF BLIND SICKLY OLDER TWINK BROTHER.

then, Naruto decides he wants to harness his powers and FUCKS OFF WITH AN OLD ASS BUSHY HAIRED MAN WHO WRITES PORN. Jiraiya needs to be studied on a microscopic spiritual level. he is why SCP’s exist.

who let these kids out? i told you all not to feed the animals and look what happened. now theres beef between a group of kids and the akatsuki.

oh and the akatsuki?? don’t get me started. wtf is that. why is this group of fucked up people with weird powers who are being led by a ginger hive mind of corpses just wandering around? and why is Weasel, aka Itachi, in the middle of it with his goofy explosive hypnotic eyeballs? i want them all put down.

so you’ve got the evil eldirch horrors in the streets. thats fine. Naruto gets put into a new gang cuz Kakashi has to hospitalized. cool, whatever. Naruto decides to start hutning down his rogue boyfriend alongside Sakura, who became a sickass ninja doctor, along with his new sensei Yamato. wonderful… THEN SOME BITCH NAMED SAI SHOWS UP.

not just that but the twink brother named Weasel is being stupid and enables his own murder. yeah he basically wants Sasuke to come for his ass. meanwhile, Naruto comes home bigger, better, older but still broke and full of fox demon. still, not a single soul except his friends and teachers like him. shit gets even more wild, it becomes knock-off Cheetah Girls vs. The World.

is itachi a good brother to sasuke? let me think, he killed their entire clan, tortured sasuke for what it felt like days, put him in a coma and manipulated him into living with hatred, isolating himself, and seeking revenge because itachi thought he deserved the punishment, not for sasuke’s wellbeing. then, itachi comes back, retraumatises sasuke by torturing him again and putting him in a coma again. sasuke defects to go after his brother, and kills his brother, giving exactly what itachi wanted, without knowing the truth, and if depended on itachi, sasuke would never know the truth about their clan and konoha. then itachi is revived and still says that the uchiha were in the wrong and konoha was right, at 21, not a child anymore, but i guess he says he will always love sasuke no matter what, so that makes up for all the rest. it’s not enough that all of this happen but itachi is also portrayed by the narrative as a genius and a hero, even though he committed genocide against a marginalised group for the sake of a military fortress and just expected his brother to be mentally stable after all he put him through, not a genius nor a hero to me. he could be treated like a brainwashed kid, i guess he would be more tolerable at least.

i also don’t understand the comparison between tsunade and sex offender pedophile jiraiya.

i’m not sure i can rationalise my love for sasuke as a character, when it’s just something you feel. i feel sympathy for him, i love his complexity, i love how loving he is, but also how iconic he is. he is interesting in many aspects and whenever i find out something new about his character, i get even more fascinated by how rich his writing is.

tsunade. my best friend in the whole wide world. i knew i was going to love her before she showed up and i was completely and entirely vindicated shes an icon shes a legend she is the moment. theres not a single thing i dont love about her shes seriously one of the greatest characters of all time in any media ever everybody WISHES they had tsunade. shes like srsly so important to me and like okay the thing with a lot of "feminist" characters in a lot of media/fandom is that people assume that in order to make a feminist female character she has to be #feminism #girlboss #queen etc and cant lose at anything and Totally Owns The Boys With GIRL POWER ! but tsunade sucks at gambling and summons a giant slug (which im aware comes from the story she & jiraiya & orochimaru come from but in any other media she'd get something traditionally Badass tm like a wolf or something but no she gets a GIANT SLUG) and is more than happy to throw hands with an annoying 12 year old and gets drunk on the regular and has an obscene amount of debt on her hands and her pet is a pig but is absolutely able to hold her own and gets to be hokage and do cool and epic things and is so so so everything all of the time. im srsly obsessed with her relationship with jiraiya and orochimaru like you already know this but it genuinely kind of makes me ill that in the infinite tsukuyomi despite everything he's done orochimaru is literally. HES THERE. HES THEREEEEE like srsly what if we all blew up and died. huh

her relationship with sakura is also so so good and it actually kills me we didnt get to see it explored more because like pre-timeskip sakura doesnt really have a lot of confidence and doesnt really feel like she can contribute that much because shes next to three insane powerhouses who were kind of just born like that but after spending two years with tsunade and being able to come into her own shes much much more confident and outspoken and like its very clearly tsunade's influence that got her to that point and theyre so important to me im so fr. and of course tsunades relationship w naruto is also so insanely eveyrthing as well hes litearlly her special little boy like because he mouths off to her all the time but also clearly respects her so so much and she yells at him for being a brat but also clearly does enjoy their back and forths and SHES SO EVERYTHINGGGG its seriously . the situation is dire. shes so everything to me.

The new Minato manga oneshot came out and confirmed something a lot of people had theorized about: Minato sucked at naming things even back when he created the jutsu, so his name for the Rasengan was comically lame and overly long, and Kushina was the one who shortened it to Rasengan, which he started using as the official name afterwards.

His original name for the Rasengan, based off an earlier scene where Jiraya used an ice cream and his hair as a metaphor, was “Halo Hair Whorl of Jiraiya Inspired By Frozen Dessert Twin Style Sphere”; it's really cute that Kishimoto not only remembered the fact that he gave Minato the quirk of giving things comically long names, but also offered a pretty solid explanation and story as to why the Rasengan had a really simple and straightforward name in spite of that.

I do like that the Rasengan, Naruto's most iconic jutsu, was inspired by both of his parents. Minato may have created the Rasengan, but Kushina was the one to give it the iconic name because Minato can't be trusted to name anything.

It's also just a quirk that I like. Minato having complicated names and being kinda a dork is endearing for him, especially with the little backstory he got compared to some of the other Hokages.

Gem of the eddy has genuinely made me start shipping things that seem like total crack ones on the surface but work perfectly within the bounds of the fic itself. Jiraiya/Roshi is one of them. I don't even particularly care about Jiraiya, but I am so invested in that ship. How do you do this to me?

Also, I find it so fascinating who all is implied to either be part Uzumaki or who could potentially call the island home despite not having any genetic ties to it. Sai surprised me the most, so far. I can't help but wonder who is gonna heed that call and mitigate once the island is open, since it seems that quite a few folks from Konoha fit the bill in some capacity, as do all of the sand sibs. It'll be interesting to see who falls in what category too, because a lot of the people who are part Uzumaki (or part of another clan who inhabited the island? Unsure if that's an option but it'd make sense to me, idk) don't seem to actually be aware of it. I can see why, since it's dangerous to have been from Uzushio after its fall, but it does make things an interesting puzzle now trying to figure out what everyone you've shown's relationship with the island is!

And Yes!! I wanted to make it plain that family and a sense of belonging doesn’t have to be by blood. And some kind of get dragged into it kicking and screaming lmaooo (RIP the grumpiest members of the cast so far.)

At the same time I think the reality of other families fleeing or migrating from the island gets overlooked (even in-story) because Uzumaki were the Big Name clan that people know, and the clan most likely people make the first connection to (or even stereotype towards with the iconic red hair etc). As for the lack of awareness, a lot of those involved were either too young to be aware of it, or it was withheld intentionally from them, or it was lost because their loved ones in-the-know are dead. There’s a couple exceptions though. 😅😅😅 Especially one or two problematic exceptions.
