Why people need to stop being obsessed with Johnny Depp:
youtube
JD defends film director Roman Polanski in 2010 interview about Roman Polanski's arrest in 1977 and 2009.
Here is what we know about Roman Polanski from 2010 and years before:
In 1977, Roman Polanski was arrested for raping 13-year-old Samantha Geimer in Hollywood.
Roman Polanski arrest in 2009
Y'all wanna keep supporting a rapist who defends rapists? What about when JD lied to the police about his 15 year old daughter, Lily-Rose at the time, dating a 23 year old man by the name of Ash Stymest?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We're still ignoring the fact that JD dated Winona Ryder when she was 17, in her own words, while he was 25/26 years old.
He has a history of ignoring child rape, minors dating adults, and defending child rapists.
Want me to go over all the close friends he has?
And the abuse/murder accusations against his friends by their ex-wives and CHILDREN? You can literally just google search it but since I have to do all the work:
His best friend Marilyn Manson abused:
Esmé Bianco
Evan Rachel Wood
Ashley Morgan Smithline
His best friend Beatles member Paul McCartney abused two of his exes, Heather Mills and Linda:
Here's some articles and interviews. One of the victims was painted as a liar, a gold-digger, bullied and told misogynistic things which is typical that victims go through "revenge" by their abusers and labeled these things. Other members of the Beatles were also extremely abusive to their partners, John Lennon admitted to it in a PlayBoy magazine and interview. Abusers stick with abusers.
His close friend, Keith Richards, was accused of sex crimes.
Damien Echols was accused of murdering three 8 year old boys with evidence presented in court which is why he was arrested, convicted and served time.
Johnny Depp raised money to pay for tests and legal fees for Damien Echols and preached publicly that Damien Echols was innocent. Johnny Depp and Damien Echols became close because of JD's ongoing support for him, and Echols stated, "We’ve grown to love him [Johnny Depp] dearly. He’s become like a brother to me.” Echols and Depp both got matching tattoos together.
Greg Ellis, incarcerated 5 times for making threats to his ex-wife and their children.
There was violent stalking Greg Ellis committed, he lost visitation rights to his children, and was violent to his family in which his ex-wife and children accused him of abuse. In 2003, he worked in another movie with JD, 3 movies in total with JD and they knew each other well. JD also wrote a forward to Greg Ellis's book, The Respondent, stated he sided with Greg Ellis, said Ellis deserves to tell his side of the story, and in JD's own words exactly said as, “If you’re trapped in the dungeon that is the family court system, The Respondent should be your constant companion."
Johnny Depp has about 100 best friends, but you can go do your own deep-diving research into each of his close friends or people he actively supports and gets along with.

2023 Movies You Need to Watch (Part One)
The year of 2023. What an interesting year it was for me personally. Honestly, I’m done with this year, so instead of thinking about the memories I’d rather forget, let’s go through the best movies of the year!
Scream 6 (Released March 10th)
Tumblr media
(Credit: Wikipedia)
Starring: Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding
Director(s): Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett
Scream 6 is the first movie on my list and first horror movie! With the fifth movie being an excellent addition to the franchise, this sixth installment takes us out of Woodsboro and into the city that never sleeps: New York. This movie clearly benefits from the change of scenery, adding suspense in ways that was unreachable for the franchise until this point, like the subway scene with Mindy (Jasmin Savoy-Brown) or the ladder scene with Anika (Devyn Nekoda). The story follows sisters Sam (Barrera) and Tara (Ortega) as they fight against another Ghostface.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Variety)
What made this one stand out to me more is the lack of legacy characters this time around. Courtney Cox returns as Gale Weathers, in a very small cameo, while Hayden Panettiere reprises her role as Kirby Reed from Scream 4 in a much more substantial role. Despite those additions, this is Barrera and Ortega’s movie, with their relationship becoming the main thing holding the movie together. The Ghostfaces (Yes, more than one) are kinda mediocre and predictable, but the motives aren’t, which makes up for it. All in all, an awesome suspenseful film that is a perfect end to a franchise, thanks to Barrera, Ortega, and the director leaving.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (Released March 31st)
Tumblr media
(Credit: Wikipedia)
Starring: Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis
Director(s): Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley
An underrated gem from this year is Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. The trailers did this movie an injustice, as it was nothing like they made it out to be. Pine and Rodriguez play a perfect platonic pair of friends as they try to survive in this big fantasy world. The story follows Edgin (Pine) and Holga (Rodriguez) as they travel across the world to save Edgin’s daughter Kira (Chloe Coleman) from Forge (Hugh Grant). Everyone plays their parts to perfection, and it makes you feel like you’re playing as these characters, and it shows that not everything will go as planned.
Tumblr media
(Credit: NY Post)
There are so many funny moments from the Fat Dragon to different ways Edgin gets out of sticky situations. It also helps that both Smith and Lillis play excellent side characters that add to the awkward dynamic that may feel familiar to D&D players. Along with that, there are fun cameos from different actors that I won’t spoil that made me and my friends laugh. I hate that this film didn’t get more love because it truly is a joy to watch it. All in all, this is an amazing movie that deserves more love, and you should give it a watch if you haven’t, you’ll enjoy it!!
Evil Dead Rise (Released April 21st)
Tumblr media
(Credit: IMDb)
Starring: Lily Sullivan, Alyssa Sutherland, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols
Director: Lee Cronin
Another horror movie that came out this year, and on my birthday, was Evil Dead Rise! This was my first time watching an Evil Dead movie in the theater, and I really enjoyed it, thanks to other patrons in the theater. This movie was brutal, but not as brutal as the 2013 remake. A lot of people were mad about how goofy the movie was, but that’s actually my favorite part! It was like a return to the original Evil Dead, taking it back to its roots. I loved the change in scenery, from a cabin in the middle of the woods to an apartment building on the verge of falling apart.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Variety)
The cold open was literally the best part, shoving people into the deep end and showing what’s to come. The story follows sisters Beth (Sullivan) and Ellie (Sutherland) as Ellie becomes possessed and begins to attack her sister and three children in their apartment. It was so suspenseful and insanely dramatic, to the point where it was laughable in the best way possible. Although, I’ll admit, the ending kind of lost me a little, I was willing to look past it thanks to the performances of the actors on screen. Overall, I say if you’re a fan of the first three Evil Dead movies starring Bruce Campbell, I highly recommend it. If you’re a fan of only the 2013 remake, I suggest going in with a bit of a warning that it is not as intense as the previous remake.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 (Released May 5th)
Tumblr media
(Credit: IMDb)
Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan
Director: James Gunn
The end of a beautiful trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 not only solidifies the fact that this is the best trilogy, but also Gunn’s reputation as the best director in the MCU. From the very beginning, Gunn perfectly captured the tone of the film, and didn’t let me go until the very end. The story revolves around Rocket (Bradley Cooper) suffering a deadly injury, where Peter (Pratt) and the other Guardians travel to save him.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Space.com)
Throughout this movie, I was so anxious that someone was going to die, but to my surprise, Gunn didn’t kill anyone off. I adore this film so much, and while Gunn has left, I will hold this story and the other two in my heart forever. If you would like to read more about the Guardians from me, please go to my previous post!
The Little Mermaid (Released May 26th)
Tumblr media
(Credit: Wikipedia)
Starring: Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Awkwafina
Director: Rob Marshall
Ah, the best Disney remake. Ariel has always been my favorite princess. I wasn’t born when the movie first came out, but coming from Hawai’i, I’m constantly surrounded by water, so how could I not have Ariel as my favorite princess? When I heard that they were remaking it for live action, I was excited. I was even more excited when they casted Bailey in the role.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Screencrush)
Although I am not African American myself, I am a POC, and it made me so happy to see representation. I can see the joy in other girls' faces when they see Bailey performing as Ariel, and it brings a tear to my eye. I never had anything like that growing up and seeing them makes me so happy. If you would like to read more about The Little Mermaid, please read my post below.
Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse (Released June 2nd)
Tumblr media
(Credit: IMDb)
Starring: Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Brain Tyler Henry, Lauren Vélez
Director(s): Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson
The sequel to the highly praised Spider Verse movie has finally been released this year, and it does not disappoint. First off, addressing something in the room, although it is a Part One to another movie, this is a full movie, and it does end on a cliffhanger, but it has an ending! This movie tries to pack so much into its runtime, that I’m surprised it even accomplished being a complete movie! It builds off of everything that happened in ‘Into the Spiderverse’, building off of characters like Gwen and Peter B. Parker, while also making us care about new characters, like Spider Punk and Spider-Man India.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Polygon)
This might be pretty contriversial, but I am not a fan of Spider-Man 2099, he’s too much of an asshole for me to care about him. The only saving grace is that he’s played by Oscar Isaac. Also, Jason Schwartzman as the villain was surprisingly amazing, and his origin story is hilarious. All in all, an excellent sequel that leaves me dying for more!
Elemental (Released June 16th)
Tumblr media
(Credit: Disney Movies)
Starring: Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi
Director: Peter Sohn
Pixar is still releasing bangers, with Elemental being added to the list. First off, the trailers did this movie a HUGE disservice! It sold it as some whimsical world where elements live together in harmony, but it is a retelling of Sohn’s life story told through the eyes of Ember (Lewis). It is emotional, and it hits me in a certain way, thanks to being raised with Asian parents.
Tumblr media
(Credit: Los Angeles Times)
Ember and Wade (Athie) are both adorable in their own way, and I believe that people just saw this as a Zootopia rip off and decided not to go. It’s not!! They’re two different stories!! Please go ahead and watch it if you haven’t!! You will not be disappointed. With Pixar movies just being shoved into Disney+, Elemental deserves to be on the big screen.
With that, I’m ending the first part here! Thank you for reading, be on the lookout for Part Two and my review of The Iron Claw, coming out next week!

Love - My Little Red Book (1966)
youtube
"Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Manfred Mann in the fall of 1964, My Little Red Book was later made highly successful by Arthur Lee and his band Love; the bass line and guitar riff served as an inspiration for Syd Barrett, who later adapted it for Pink Floyd's Interstellar Overdrive." - Mike Munrows.

Did you know Adolf Hitler considered himself a Christian?
“I say, my feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fifhjter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few follows, recognized these Jews for what they were. Who god’s truth, was greatest not as a sufferer but a fighter. “
The Aryan Brotherhood, founded and established in Hayden Idaho, was influenced heavily by the racist and extreme right wing Christian Identity Movement, was as well considering themselves a traditional protestant group. Their main central group and splinter groups use the words Church and priesthood as titles and use Pastor as a religious designation.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, teach that the mark of Cain mentioned in the book of Genesis is darker skin than white, and that one can know the spiritual level of someone of color by the color level of their skin.
An argument that is used by Christians is that it is the wrong type that enact this type of behavior and original scripture does not support this focus, the book of numbers that declare invasion as commands against the neighboring countries, taking their children and wives as captives on several accounts, and destroying every last being and item on other accounts, shows otherwise. They argue that's the old testament and not spiritually correct, yet in the new testament Jesus says he has not come to bring peace, but a sword, and not to destroy the law and the prophets but to fulfill them. in the book of Isaiah it is declared over and over that God is the same yesterday, today; and forever, and that he is the Alpha and Omega, declared as well in The Book of Revelation.
The Christians in the beginning was a small cult following, that during the time of Constantine I became the leading authorized religion of Rome that became a basis of established law against Pagans who were consecutively suppressed, and later the international issues of the crusades and inquisitions became active putting many to death, in prison, and converted by force otherwise.
The American eras of slavery brought African slaves they acquired from around the world, who indigenously practiced voodoo in large amounts, who practiced even still within secrecy, adapting their names and symbols under suppression of their masters.
Christians will say that's all in the past, and its not them, yet Billy Graham focused on prosylatizing with the Billy Graham crusades, after the name crusades during and before the crusades and Inquisitions. Pastor John Hagae preaches consecutively against modern media content like heavy metal, and witchcraft, and their are Christian focuses against witchcraft in Law Enforcement teachings that Christians still support.
Three Juveniles in West Memphis were wrongfully accused of murders in a heavily Christian populated area, Damien Echols, one who was among the three convicted, was released from Death Row under a Plea agreement, and became a well known Author. Before this conviction in 1994, there was the Satanic Panic era when family members accused other family members of ritual abuse, certain individuals were released from Prison after several years in 2014 when accused of Child Sexual molestation.
While those accused of crimes not related to witchcraft are not put to death, they often do spend prison time with focuses of documents and records of heavy mentions of witchcraft directly.
Social Media searches return Christian junk media featuring their views against Satanism and witchcraft, and they still preach in major churches that it is wrong.
Socially and emotionally Christianity in the beginning was against pagans and witchcraft, and still are. The only things that have really changed is more public access to literature, and not being put to death to hastily. There are still very hostile emotions against it, and the people who practice it.

Clarence Everett Lightner (August 15, 1921 - July 8, 2002) the first popularly elected mayor of Raleigh and the first African American elected mayor of a metropolitan Southern city, was born to Mammie Blackmon and Calvin E. Lightner in Raleigh. His father, Calvin, founded the Lightner Funeral Home.
He graduated from North Carolina Central College and studied at Echols College of Mortuary Science in Pennsylvania so that he could continue working at his father’s business. While at North Carolina Central he was a star athlete and was inducted into the NCCU Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternities, and he served in the Army for three years during WWII.
He was one of the first African Americans elected to political office. He promoted his business and community leadership as qualifications for a seat on the Raleigh City Council, which he won. He served on the City Council (1967-73). He was elected mayor. He became a charter member of the Southern Conference of Black Mayors.
His election did draw some national attention because only 16% percent of the registered voters in Raleigh were Black, it was indeed rare for a majority of Southern white voters to elect an African American to any office. His race was hardly mentioned in the campaign.
He was appointed by North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt to replace state Senator John Winters. He served out the rest of Winter’s term, which amounted to about a year.
He served as chairman of the Board of Trustees at Saint Augustine’s College and as a member of the Board of Trustees at North Carolina Central University for ten years.
He was awarded honorary doctorate degrees from Shaw University, Saint Augustine’s College, and North Carolina Central University.
He was survived by his wife, Marguerite Massey Lightner, and three children. He had a son, who preceded him in death. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #sigmapiphi #omegapsiphi

BOOK REVIEW: FOREVER CHANGES, The Authorised Biography Of ARTHUR LEE and LOVE ~ John Einarson (2024)
Jawbone press have just re-released FOREVER CHANGES, which is the authorized biography of Arthur Lee and Love.
Previously out of print, this paperback edition has an updated orange / purple psychedelic cover and comes with a new Foreword, from Johnny Echols (songwriter, guitarist, co-founder of Love) The Preface is by music historian/writer John Einarson.
John Einarson
Of course, Love’s 1967 album, Forever Changes, featured the single Alone Again Or, which was a chart hit in 1968 and has been a Gold radio play ever since.
At the time, “Dean of American Rock Critics” Robert Christagau reviewed the LP as follows:
Art-rock," sneers my wife, who's never heard it before. "Movie music," Greil Marcus recalls fondly. "I just played it this week," R. Meltzer tells me--and then places its release in early 1968 because it came out the day before a well-remembered abortion. All wrong. It came out November 1967, and neither art-rock nor movie music, no matter how fondly recalled, will permit a song that begins with an elegantly enunciated "Oh, the snot has caked against my pants/It has turned into crystal."
Arthur Lee was always too oblique for his own good. Here he counterposes a background-music feel and a delightful panoply of studio effects against his own winning skepticism and the incipient Jaggerishness of his pseudo-Johnny Mathis vocals. Perhaps because it retains so much humor, his battle cry--"We're all normal and we want our freedom"--hasn't dated, the melodies really hang in there, and only Steely Dan has ever attempted a record so simultaneously MOR and anti-MOR. A-
An A- grade in Christgau's Consumer Guide (for Village Voice/Creem) equates to being a very good record. Indeed it is.
And this is a very good book by Einarson with all the biog that fits 336 pages; FOREVER CHANGES is tightly packed with original details, large and small focusing on only child Arthur Lee, from birth through the age of "Flower Power" to a flickering-flame that finally burned out in 2006 due to leukemia complications.
One of the best quotes on the book is to be found on the back cover from David Fricke, of Rolling Stone: “Arthur Lee was the sixties’ first Black rock star, ruling the Sunset Strip when Jimi Hendrix was still an R&B sideman. Einarson draws on Lee’s unfinished memoirs in this frank, propulsive account of Love’s majesty and dysfunction.”
Overall, a critically important tome in the rock music cannon.
Rating: 9/10

"By Sunday morning the rain had ceased, and the sun shone brightly. Now the scene around the Banner Mine became one of bustle and excitement as crowds of the curious began to arrive. These "excursionists" came on the trains of the L & N and the Southern; they came by automobile, jarring along the dirt roads; the less affluent and more practical arrived by wagon and "on horseback and mules." One observer was repelled by the scene and reported that the
sights outside were enough to tum a heart of stone. The day being Sunday, the crowds flocked to Banner by the hundreds, and a holiday spirit seemed to possess the most of them."
There
clustered about on the hills and under the trees were the crowds of sight-seers. The air was filled with jokes and ribald jests, while the air also was heavy with the odor of mean whiskey.
Deputy Sheriff Dave Kennybrook and his guards strung up rope and patrolled their lines with rifles and shotguns in an overzealous effort to enforce order and to keep a way clear for the rescuers. The guards dispersed neighboring free blacks who were searching through the castaway clothes of the dead - they were unaware that the prisoners had no valuables. Through it all photographer Bert Covell of Birmingham took pictures of the crowd and of the yawning mine mouth - its darkness a testimony to mystery and fear and tragedy.
Inspector Hillhouse's strategy of reversing the fans to clear the mine gradually proved successful, and the rescue teams were able to penetrate farther into the galleries. Now tram car loads of bodies began to arrive at the surface, and a rush order was made to the Green Coffin Company of Birmingham for one hundred coffins. Other coffins and shrouds came from the John's Undertaking Company in Birmingham, but the supply was soon exhausted, and a special shipment was obtained from Nashville, Tennessee. After being cleaned in the prison washhouse, the bodies were embalmed by Echols and Angevin of Ensley. Their task was so great that the morticians had to be assisted by some of the surviving convicts. Unless families or next of kin called for the bodies, they would be buried on the mine's premises. A gang of twenty convicts began the process of digging "a long trench in the convict cemetery."
If there was curiosity and the compelling ambience of tragedy, there were few signs of bereavement and loss. One elderly black woman cried for her dead nephew. Another sorrowing black woman wept for her husband in the prison morgue. (There was mistaken identity here, and she was led away still crying.) People expected friends and relatives to appear on the scene, and the ambulance chasers of the legal profession were on hand to suggest a claim against the company. But there was little business to be done at the Banner. (Also, Pratt Consolidated's own lawyer, R. B. Watts, was there to safeguard the company from the dangers of litigation.) The locale contrasted sharply with the event. As the sun sank behind the Alabama hills, soft green with the beauty of spring, the observer who had been critical earlier was reinforced in his cynicism. "The crowds began to divide," he wrote.
Food was scarce, and so was whiskey, and the crowds left with the feeling of having had a good time. The blind-tigers [illegal liquor stands] did a land office business and so did the Pratt commissary, where a thin slice of ham and crackers cost ten cents.
