Fun fact: Metamorph is still around but with a different design in Parallels (I also wanted to hearken back to my Bruce Timm style days with the pic of her here, hence the more stylized approach)!

Since they're the current characters on my mind, I've been really motivated to do some more magic-looking art with them to actually show Muriel using her powers ;D Is the blood Traxton has spattered on himself someone else's or his own? Who knows!

I've been researching artists from the 1960s with styles that would fit Knightsbridge Hollow, and Rene Gruau immediately stood out with his use of line weight and negative space--so I had to redraw a few of his pieces with Muriel and Traxton as the subjects to see how they'd look :)

Trying something different! I wanted to have Traxton jumping through a window, then decided maybe I’d attempt something more symbolic?? Idk if it worked, but I had fun!

Had to do it to em! Something of a proper intro to these two: John and Muriel Traxton are two characters from Parallels who prefer to take the backseat in the grand scheme of life. This is mostly because they’ve been around for 1300 years (give or take) due to some curses placed on them, which requires them to reinvent themselves every couple of decades so people don’t catch on to their longevity ✨

So @missmarck is hosting a fun lil DTIYS where you draw your ocs in Western gear in anticipation for her comic’s next season coming up on March 15th, and I figured it’d be fun to toss the Traxtons into the Old West! They traveled the world after getting married, so they most likely wound up in the Western Territories at some point too ;) Anyways, you guys should check out Dazer and Eleanor on Webtoons!!

This is what happens when an extrovert marries an introvert! I didn't have anything special in mind for this year's Christmas pic, until I saw a meme and thought how it'd fit the Traxtons perfectly, so you get a minicomic! I was also testing out workflow again since I wanna use a style that's easy/quick for the comic, and using minimal shading seemed to help! It also hearkens to the artists from the 1960s I'm using as inspo, so that works too lol

Something very spur-of-the-moment that I had to finish! Traxton has a lot of memories of killing and being killed, and as cool as he plays it for most people, it really does get under his skin and affect his psyche. I wanted to highlight the first time he killed someone/was killed in this comic; he was seventeen at the time, his grandfather recently deceased from wasting away from disease, and with nothing to lose when he joined the army of a nobleman. He'd never fought before, never killed, so being thrust onto the battlefield was extremely jarring, to say the least. Traxton had figured out several ways to cope with the memories and night terrors that came at him through the centuries, though he picked up smoking--only as a last resort to settle his nerves--following WWI. He only breaks out a pack of cigarettes when one of those night terrors REALLY jolts him awake.

After getting married in the 1920s, Muriel picked up on when those memories manifesting themselves as nightmares would be too much for her husband. He tries not to wake her up with them, but if they're really bad, she's bound to know something's up when she feels he's left the house "for some air." She'd prefer he talk it out with her, but she knows how painful it can be to relive those kinds of memories, so she'll sit up with him instead and wait out the tremors until he's ready to come back inside.

Muriel’s home/property is located in a pocket dimension within a jungle, filled with all sorts of lovely critters and inhabitants in the towns and villages who absolutely hate magic users. The people don’t mess with Muriel because they know she’s powerful, but they won’t hesitate to attack those associated with her, which means she or Traxton have to be with any guests when they go off the property. Just in case 🙃

Kinda bumping backwards in time for this one, but I wanted to take a peek at where Traxton and Muriel were in the past, back in Knightsbridge Hollow’s heyday. Traxton, for his part in the 1400s, was fighting campaigns for any nobleman he saw as, well, noble. Once he was seemingly killed, he’d revive a day or two later to find someone else to bear arms with. He’d been handed down his immorality curse back in the 1300s when he was a child, and hadn’t found a purpose or cause in life for it other than being an immortal soldier. There’s also the thought at the back of his mind when he enters each of these battles that perhaps THIS time, he might truly die to be with his family :’D

Traxton having to perform some aggressive extermination 💥 The Thing is more sentient than anticipated and shoved that fire poker Traxton has into him when it was cornered. OUCH. Had a lot of fun with the shadows and framing here!!

Wait, I haven't been on Tumblr for awhile and I'm already intrigued by the new comic, would you be willing to share more about?

It's relatively new, though it has it's roots in the superhero universe I've been kicking around with my sister for 10+ years!

The general gist of it is "Bewitched meets Mission: Impossible meets Agatha Christie meets Bradburian horror." John and Muriel Traxton move to the little English village of Knightsbridge Hollow because Muriel's family used to live there, and they want to make an attempt at a "normal" life (they're both immortal and have been living in a pocket dimension since they got married, so not exactly Normal). This, however, comes to bite them when it turns out that Knightsbridge is a magnet for all sorts of mana-infused people and creatures--and spy-related stuff from Traxton's line of work that follows him back to the little village at inopportune times.

It's still in Development Heck right now, but I've got the four chapters pretty thoroughly plotted out, and all I need to do now is some research and designing the village and more characters and working on the script :D For now, have a sketch that'll give a feel for the story tone
