LEGENDARY EVENT The 14 Hour Technicolor Dream was a concert held in the Great Hall of the Alexandra Palace, London, on 29 April 1967. It was part-documented by Peter Whitehead in a film called Tonite Let's All Make Love in London. At the time, The 14 Hour Technicolor Dream was described as a multi-artist event, featuring poets, artists and musicians. Pink Floyd headlined the event. In the audience watching Ono's performance art that night was John Lennon who attended the event with his friend John Dunbar. There were two main stages inside the hall, with a smaller central stage designed for poets, performance artists, jugglers, dancers. ❤️ . . The "probable" is often stronger than immediate reality. Album Number One Hundred Ninety Two “Lick My Decals Off, Baby” is the fourth studio album by Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, released in December 1970 by Straight and Reprise Records. The follow-up to #troutmaskreplica (1969), it is regarded by some critics and listeners as superior, and was Van Vliet's favorite. Van Vliet said that the title was an encouragement to "get rid of the labels", and to evaluate things according to their merits rather than according to superficial labels (or "decals"). My copy is on Reprise Records - RS 6420 (always like those Loss Leader releases) Musicians on the album were #donvanvliet vocals, harmonica, and woodwinds; #billharkleroad guitar; #markboston , bass; #arttripp , marimba, drums, and percussion; and #johnfrench drums. French had been arranger and musical director on Trout Mask Replica. Van Vliet ejected French from the group—both figuratively and literally, by allegedly throwing him down a flight of stairs—shortly after Trout Mask Replica was completed, and these roles passed to guitarist Bill Harkleroad. 💝 @divina_ispirazione GLAMOROUS CHRISTMAS - December 1955. Photo by John French, model Susan Abraham. Born in London, John French (1907-1966) became one of the capital's top fashion photographers in the 1950s and 60s and was the first to evolve a technique which resulted in a photograph that would reproduce with total success in newsprint. French himself devoted much attention to the set and posing of his models, but left the actual triggering of the shutter to assistants, amongst whom were Terence Donovan and David Bailey. French saw that low-contrast, ‘high-key’ prints, where most of the detail was in the lighter areas, would reproduce best on low line screens in common use in the day. To do this, he rejected the then popular direct tungsten lighting for softer daylight photography, bouncing light off reflector boards. Although most people today would say, “So what?”, this method of lighting was pretty radical at the time. He applied this technique for his work with fashion publications like Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and The Tatler, but also in newspapers.
