I like Joesph: King of Dreams but I can't ever forgive how bad they sugarcoated Jacob's family issues. Joseph makes a big stink about being only the half brother like that's why his brothers resent him but meanwhile they're still behaving mostly like one big happy family and Rachel "loves them like they're her own" (ahahahahahahhh) and it's heavily implied Jacob's ~first wife~ died and he remarried and I'm like OH NAW HE DIDN'T. literally where are Leah, Bilha and Zilpa and why are they not even mentioned. They are still ALIVE AND WELL at this point and in fact it's Rachel who should be dead before Joseph is sold off. Also, Rachel and Leah were mean to each other, none of that "Joseph, you should get along with your brothers" cheesy stuff.

Dreamworks literally went from Biblical retellings to fairy tale satire to talking animal antics to epic fantasy to whacky jukebox musicals with super dark subtext.

This is an aspect of this time-honored story that sometimes troubles me, and I know that different Biblical scholars as well as different lay people have very different views on it.
Note #1: Please don't reblog with answers that only relate to adaptations of the story. For example, "What he does is wrong, but his wife Asenath calls him out on it and urges him to forgive them." Not in the Bible she doesn't. No one calls him out in the original text.
Note #2: Christians are free to reblog and offer opinions – this is a Biblical subject after all – but please don't preach to me about Jesus. This story isn't about Jesus. It predates Jesus by many centuries. Besides, for the time being, I'm looking at it more from a character analysis perspective than a religious perspective.
Note #3: Please don't be antisemitic. The (arguable) moral grayness of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament heroes has nothing to do with either their Jewishness or the fact that they lived before Jesus.

okay whatever i'm just gonna ramble for a bit. i love the story of joseph king of dreams so much. the betrayal? so painful and i AM eating. the dramatic reveal? so SLAY. should have been more dramatic though but whatever. saw an opinion that prince of egypt is more tragic and it's about two brothers that's why people don't like joseph king of dreams that much. i mean I'M SORRY WHAT. like is being sold into slavery by your brothers not tragic enough. also being imprisoned for no reason for god knows how many years. that's crazy. and there's been like way more brothers too (only two in prince of egypt), that's why the argument about the brothers is silly. i mean yeah prince of egypt had a huge budget and joseph king of dreams had 5 dollars and a dream but it doesn't really matter because the story is so much better. i really don't like moses (even after he stopped being a douche) but joseph is a babygirl. he really shouldn't have been that forgiving though

WIP of an Egyptian soldier.
I am working on bettering my skin tones and shading. My white on the shield came out a bit funky, but I'm going to add splotches of black to simulate cattle hide anyway. I am also experimenting with non metallic metal!
I will use more of these Egyptian minis for my review of the Army Painter Speed Paints, so stay tuned for the video! I'll post the YouTube link when that time comes.
Let me know what you think! I'm so excited to have these historic minis.

Easter-Like classics that can never be missed in our Familiar Cinema Club
First, we have all the Hollywood-Sword and Sandal like classics that we watch between Lent, the Holy Week and Easter, being mainly and in a historically accurate chronological order:
Joseph King of Dreams
(Mandatory Prequel watching)
The Ten Commandments (1956)
Ben Hur (1959)
The Robe (1953)
Quo Vadis (1951)
Then we watch some other movies that we kinda relate with the celebration, like:
The Fiddler On The Roof (1971)
BBC's The Chronicles of Narnia series
(My mom doesn't like the Disney adaptation)
The Secret Garden (1993)
For a strange relation of ideas, because my oldest brother was transcribing in the middle of the Holy Week one year, the orchestration of the movie for a streaming with live orchestra,
Howl's Moving Castle
We even have for a traditional Easter Sunday breakfast, Sophie's eggs with bacon.
And the main event of Holy Saturday, the most expected movie of the season...
The Prince of Egypt
