Thank you!! This always bugs me because everybody has been saying Sakura was the youngest for quite a while now. So I put everyone in order by month and date and when they graduate from the Ninja Academy.

This shows Sakura is indeed older than the boys and didn't join a whole year like that person said. If that were the case, Naruto and Sasuke would have already been in team 7 way before Sakura joined them. We have seen Team Seven establishment to know that didn't happen.

There are Sakura fans who love this news but they are the same Sakura fans who accept everything from the databooks but all suddenly disagree about her age which is stated in the databooks for 20 years that she was 17 in the war. They even used the same books to defend Sakura a lot of times and now suddenly it's wrong about one little detail. Unless Kish makes a whole new set of databooks for Naruto and changes Sakura's age himself then I'm sticking with what we already have and not taking somebody else's word for it. I wish they stop treating the Ninja Academy like a normal Japanese school.

Just a quick little note - It would probably be better for you to clarify in your data that Tenten, Neji and Lee were born in the year before. You probably already knew that, but the way you presented the information gave the misleading impression that they were all born during the same year. Just me being nitpicky.

Timeline: 30th June 2019, Sunday, 6:45pm Location: Min’s apartment shared w/Euna Mood: Anxious. Hyperventilating. Nervous. Starving. Attire: Shorts. Tee. Bare feet. Messy Hair.

Min had been the first to cave. It took him a total of forty eight hours before he nervously typed, then deleted, then retyped his message to Ino no less than six times before he finally sent it and threw his phone across the room out of fear of rejection. What happen next made him extremely excited but also sent him into a panic for the remainder of the week. Ino said yes to his suggestion of a date, even agreed to something that could be described as lowkey and intimate. 

He’d managed to convince Euna to spend her weekend somewhere else. It hadn’t been difficult, especially with the promise of his spending money and cleaning duties for the month of July. He would get the apartment to himself but he would also get the weekly cooking lesson that he was converting into his first official date with Ino. 

The chef had cut his eyes in Min’s direction more than once as he rearranged plates and utensils, between panicked glances at his phone. He’d nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the buzzer. Frozen and unable to move, it was the chef that had nudged him. Shooing him away and to the door to greet his guest. Min still didn’t budge, even daring to say, “You go,” which earned him a roll of the eyes and a shove.

He hurried away that time. A second buzz causing him to pick up his pace and manage to lose his breath all by the time, he reached the door, “Hey.” He was all smiles and nervous energy but really happy to see Ino, even if forgot his manners. Shaking his head, he waved the other in, “I’m sorry. Come in. You want a drink?” 

Unsure on how to greet him, he awkwardly moved and forward, half waving and nearly extending his hand, before shrugging off his own nervousness. “I’m glad you came.”

I have been waiting actual months to be able to talk about my Night Shift OCs and @green-eyes-and-orange-ties has given me a reason with their 30DaysOfEchor challenge so here is their info for the week 1 prompts:

Character 1: Ino Aristos

Full name: Leucothoe Diana Aristos (maiden name: Jones)

Nickname: Ino, due to her parents being big classics nerds, as Ino was the original name of the Sea Goddess Leucothoe ("white goddess"), Loco, Dia, birdbrain

Pronouns: She/They (FtNB)

Age: 22 (Birthday: 6th August, Leo)

Disabilities: auDHD

She was born Veil-Touched after her mother got stuck in a veil anomaly while pregnant with her. She was born with black wings, though they are barely usable, she can flap them, often doing so subconsciously as a stim. As she's aged, feathers have began to grow on other parts of her body, such as her ankles and chest and the back of her neck. She also has a small magic where her hair can move like a limb, which she can use to pick up small objects.

Her mother and father are happily divorced, as they were in a lavender marriage and ended up with Ino after a very emotional night where they decided they both wanted a kid, and her father is now married to another man, and her mother is happily single. Ino's cousin happens to be one Miles Beaumont on her mother's side, they grew up in the same area so were quite close before Miles went to study law. Ino is also expecting a baby in late may/early june with her partner Atlas.

She considers home to be wherever she finds her people: her family, her wife, her friends, even the veil itself, but physically her apartment is in Downtown Echor, just about in the cheap enough for the two of them when only one can work (her VT traits make it a bit hard to get a job)

Character 2: Atlas Aristos

Full name: Atlas Kore Aristos

Nicknames: Kore, Kora, Crabcake, Nebula

Pronouns: She/Her (MtF)

Age: 22 (Birthday: July 9th, Cancer)

Disabilities: Autistic, has a slight lisp due to weird teeth (I'll elaborate later)

Became Veil-Touched aged 13 after her father, who disapproved of her transness, locked her outside during a veil event (he has since lost custody of all three of his kids and is serving time for child-abuse and neglect). She has spikes on her arms and ankles, tiny horns on her head (which she hides with up-do's), blood that glows when it reacts with oxygen, all of her teeth are sharp + her canines stick out over her lip, and has "nebula hands", where her hands, which are usually a sort of soot black due to being VT, become covered in blue fire that sparks, making it look like a nebula, with the sparks as stars and the blue-fire-on-black being the space holding it together

Eldest of three sisters. Her parents are also divorced, her father getting full custody of her but not her sisters from age 10-13 because "he wanted a son to carry his bloodline on", saved by her mother after the Veil incident. She is married to her partner Ino, who she met online on Tumblr after Atlas started a "life as a teenage shade" blog, which Ino related to as another teenage VT. They are expecting a baby together later this year in late May/ early June. She has always wanted a cat and a border terrier after Ino showed her pictures of her dads' border, but none of the apartments she's lived in have allowed pets.

Home is her partner's arms. Home is the dancefloor at secret VT clubs and bars. Home is the bathroom at her mom's house where her sisters taught her how to do her makeup. Home is under the veil lights, dancing with the love of her life. Home is the tucked away apartment in downtown Echor she shares with her wife, which she's going to share with their child, where she can be herself and happy.

I hope you like them!!! You might recognise Ino's description from the November chapter of LRPD, I threw her in as a fun way to torment my favourite punching bag Angelo Volta. So excited to do this again next week!!!

I like how Team Gai and Team Kakashi have the girls as the oldest (T: march, N: july, L: nov - Saku: march, Sasu: july, N: oct) wait I just realised those are very similar months though Team Gai is a year older

Team Asuma I think has Ino the youngest. by a day. I think it's (C: may, S: sept (22), I: sept (23))

and Team Kurenai also has Hinata the youngest (S: jan, K: july, H: dec)

and if you count Team Minato as all the same age, you get (O: feb, K: sept, R: nov)

n Team Choza are all canonically different ages, but in order of bdays you get (Ga: jan, E: march, Ge: july) which funnily enough is reverse age order. I just realised you can spell egg with their names. Ebisu Genma Gai. the egg teammates...

a lot of people say, that because it is not by Masashi Kishimoto, it isn't canon but this isn't true, because just because Kishimoto is the author of Naruto, this does not mean he's the only one who can produce canon content or the one who decides what is canon and what isn't

Naruto is a franchise that belongs to Shonen Jump

shonen jump is owned by Shueisha

That means Shueisa, is fully authorized and can change and add to the Naruto canon if they want to do so. They literally own Naruto.

Second The common educational system in Japan is 6 years of elementary school, From age 7 (turning 7 by next 1st of April as the educational year in Japan is from April to March of next year) to age 12 in elementary school,

Japanese school system if anyone wondering what this has to do with anything the start of the school year is April 1 for Japan and ends on March 31. Another thing most schools adopt a three-semester system, with the first semester from April to july, the second semester from September to December, and the third semester from January to March. Lastly thing is the those born from April 2, 2000 - April 1, 2001 will attend school together and are considered to be same age/grade so if sakura was born in same yr march she’d be in the year above not in the same yr as tm 7

SSM 2022 Day 01

Prompt: Passports

Summary: Newlyweds Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Sakura are on their way to spend their honeymoon in the most romantic place (according to Yamanaka Ino), Maldives.

A/N: hello! happy sasusaku month!

The humid July air kissed Sakura's exposed skin of her arms, grasping the strap of her cream colored canvas bag on her right shoulder. Radiant warmth peeking shyly through the thick clouds, Sakura's face breaks in a small and contented smile, inhaling the fresh scent of newly cut grass until her lungs are filled with it. It has been three days since she and her first love tied the knots, and she knew that nothing would go wrong with her and her husband's vacation plan.

After all, they are both busy with their careers and vacations rarely presents itself in front of them.

Speaking of her husband, she casts a glance behind her and lets out a giggle. Sasuke in all his scowl and glower glory, is wearing a floral polo partnered with khaki shorts. She could tell how he wasn't impressed by it all but can he really say no to his wife's wishes and big hopeful jade eyes? As he nears her, his glower becomes prominent, it quickly fades when he looks at her smiling face.

She gingerly brushes her fingertips on his fringe, casting it aside. Sakura takes her time admiring her husband's aristocratic features, his onyx eyes bores in her, the eyes she couldn't help but get lost in. His chiseled cheeks are dusted with pink blush, his strong jaw sharp and taut. The permanent crease of his brow will ever so slightly deepen and Sakura pulls him down towards her to plant a soft kiss on his thin but plumpy lips.

"Anata, can you give me a smile please?" she asked, pouting at him to add more leverage. He grunts his response and walks towards their waiting car. Sakura giggles, her husband really is something else.

He may look like he doesn't have any care in the world, he may be one of the most influential CEOs in the world, he may be a part of the infamous Uchiha clan, yet behind those seemingly unreachable titles, he's her Sasuke. The sweetest and most caring person she knew, he's her Sasuke, the unbelievably kind man who loves his family and her very deeply, also his best friend though he might never admit it.

And now, this unbelievably kind man, her first love and best friend, is her husband.

He takes her hand with his big ones, instinctively intertwining their fingers together like they have a mind of their own. She basked on his warmth, scooting closer to his side.

When they reached their car, the windows in the driver's seat slowly revealed the face of their best friend, Naruto. Grinning mischievously at them, his wild blonde hair is sitting on his head. Great. She looks at her side and as expected, Sasuke's glowering at the goofy blonde man who's still smiling like he just won a lottery.

"Naruto, what are you doing here?" she asked, incredulous.

"I'll be your designated driver for today! I told your driver, Mr. Nakamura to take the day off because ya know he deserves it" he said in his usual cheery voice that could light everyone's dark days. Sakura beamed at him, clasping her hands on her chest. Leave it to Naruto, he will do everything that he wants as long as he knows it will make his friends happy. Sasuke's happy too! He may not show it.

"Come on, Anata!" she exclaimed happily, tugging his arms to the already opened back seats. Once they settled on their seats, Naruto pulled out from the driveway, glancing at them in the rearview mirror. He snickered and gave his unsolicited comment on her husband's outfit that promptly earned him a kick on his seat from Sasuke.

Sakura laughs watching the exchange between her best friends, nothing has changed, they are still like the Sasuke and Naruto she knew back in childhood. Ever since that one fateful day they've become inseparable. Her two boys - now fine and kind men - have permanently become part of her life.

The ride to the airport is relatively quiet, save for Naruto's welcomed antics. Every now and then she will steal a glance at her husband and will suck in a breath if he already has his eyes staring at her. Their hands are still intertwined, his thumb drew circles on her skin between her thumb and index finger. The memory of their night together prior to this day flashes behind her eyes.

Sweaty bodies under the moonlit room entwined in each other's limbs, their breaths mingled in whispered promises and wanton cries. Eyes are clouded in lust and adoration, she will often think how can he manage to do that every time they share a bed. His grunts and strangled moan filled her ears until he reached his ecstasy. Gripping her flesh to leave his angry red imprint on her soft skin.

The mere thought of their night together starting from now on makes her squirm in her seat. She pressed her legs together in a failed attempt at calming her pulsating desire. Digging her teeth on the soft flesh of her bottom lip, she looks at Sasuke sideways and oh how he wishes she hadn't. Her husband is smirking down at her, she can see mirth dancing behind his charcoal eyes. "What are you thinking?" he asked with his low baritone voice and she squeaked when she felt his lips brush on the shell of her ear. Blood quickly creeps on her face as she glances at Naruto who suspiciously whistles in nonchalance.

"N-nothing!" she huffed.

They didn't say anything after that, mostly from her side because Sasuke's naturally not much of a talker. Though, his finger's still drawing circles on her skin. It was a familiar silence, just them breathing in their same space with his radiating and welcoming heat surrounding her.

They arrive at the airport, Sasuke's arm wrapped around her small waist as they wave their hands in goodbye to Naruto. Sasuke reminded him to take care of the car and if he leaves a small scratch on it, he will make his life a living hell. Sakura had to put a tight smile on that. Sometimes Sasuke can be too dramatic.

The newlyweds walked inside, Sasuke's arm is still snaked around her figure in a protective manner. Her heart thrums inside her in unmasked jubilation. Smiling to herself she leans into his embrace. Failing to notice the flashes of cellphone cameras aimed at them.

An airport attendant greeted and ushered them to a secluded and more private waiting area. Few people were already occupying the room, some were celebrities and others she recognized in countless magazines about the business world. Sakura shivered in the cold - she didn't know if it was because of the room or the cold aura coming from the occupants - she would never get used to this kind of lifestyle, she mused. They all looked so cold and intimidating, unlike her hospital life. Working in the hospital requires a friendly attitude and atmosphere.

Sasuke's grip on her hand tightened and it woke her from her silent musings, she glanced up at him, flashing a reassuring smile.

While they are on their seats, Sasuke handed her an envelope with his clan's insignia printed on the back. She wondered what it was, she peered on what was inside and saw two passports neatly stacked along with other documents. Sakura fished the passports first, flipping one of them open; a picture of her husband's apathetic expression is what greeted her. She stifled a laugh bringing the document closer to her face for a closer inspection. Her giggling stopped when Sasuke snatched it back like it offended him.

She pouted and thumbed the other passport.

Uchiha Sakura

Oh.

Sakura gaped at him, she thought she'd be using her old one, and… "Sasuke-kun, how? It has only been three days–" her husband silenced her by pressing his lips on her. "Let's just say that I have a lot of connections".

Oh, of course her husband has that, one pull of his string comes a scrambling employee to fulfill his demand.

Butterflies bloomed inside her while looking at her name imprinted on the small glossy paper. Sakura's jade oculars well up in tears. If someone would tell her 5 year old self that she'd marry her silly little scowling crush someday she sure as hell would faint. A giggle bubbled up from her throat and she looked at her husband's face, searching for his charcoal windows whose soft as ever, a small tilt of his lips can be seen.

This little step is the start of their journey together, the start of a new chapter opened for endless possibilities, the start of their forevermore.

And Sakura is more than willing to have this unbelievably kind man beside her until their dying breaths.

baby, it's cold outside

whoo, pushing the deadline a bit with this one, but i'm kind of glad i dragged it out all day. it gave me a chance to be a bit more thorough in going through it, which is good, because it's about twice as long as the others (drabble what?).

so, shikamaru is in my top three naruto men (top ten, maybe even top five of all anime men i can think of). i've loved him to death since i watched him bury hidan when it aired on disney xd for the first time. he was technically my second major anime crush, the first was gaara.

this is further proof that i'm nuts. i took this cheerful, fun song and made something... not that. it's pretty dramatic to begin with, then it's just some back and forth, and then the ending is happy-ish?

tbh, i'm divided over this one. part of me likes it, because i love writing shit that makes me cry (not hard at all, i get choked up over anything happy or sad) while i'm writing it (yes, i'm a masochistic bitch) and still makes me feel the pain when i look it over later. the other part of me is like, "this is so underdeveloped for you, and it has more to it than any of the others." to be fair, the others were all lighthearted, and i didn't feel the need to explain the character background. it just doesn't feel well rounded off, so i really ask for feedback on this one.

song- this does not vibe with the story in the least, except towards the end, i guess, but this is what i do.

You couldn’t believe it. You were fighting to keep Shikamaru Nara, of all people, in one place. What had the world come to?

“Come on, Shikamaru!” You pouted, bordering on begging. “It’s freezing out there!”

“It’s got nothing on how cold my mom will be if I don’t come home,” he smoothly shut you down as he stood up from his seat on your couch.

“Your mom loves me, and she knows you’re here, so I doubt she’ll have much of a problem.”

“I have to report to the Hokage early,” he argued.

“This place is closer to the main building than yours is,” you refuted the validity of his point, leaning against the back of the couch.

He sighed, “I don’t have any-”

“You’re literally holding an outfit that I just mended for you. We can wash it,” you muttered, crossing your arms.

“You know that Ino will spread rumors if she finds out.”

“No, she won’t. She cares too much about us, especially since Temari is due back right after the new year. She wouldn’t risk ruining your chance.”

“What about anyone else who sees me leave in the morning?” He insisted, and you gave in.

“I really don’t think that many people give a shit, but fine, Shikamaru. Sorry I asked.”

He groaned in response. “Don’t be like-”

“Just get the fuck out!” You demanded, storming off to your room and slamming your door shut. You leaned back against the wood and slid down to the ground, tears welling in your eyes. For as many reasons as he had to not stay, you had a few of your own for wanting him to. He’d come over to have you sew up a pair of pants and shirt- his mother could have, but you’d spare him a lecture- and the two of you got talking, laughing, and drinking a little. It was fun, and you didn’t want to stop. That was the easiest answer. The others made you cry just thinking about them.

It was all too obvious that you liked him, you thought. Ino definitely caught on quickly enough, and while she wanted to play matchmaker, she didn’t dare get involved because of Temari. She just told you that you should tell him. He’d be nice about turning you down if he really had no interest in you, but you’d never know for sure if you didn’t take the chance. That had been back in July, and you felt no closer to doing it five months later than you had when she first suggested it. You were alone with him, a golden opportunity if there ever was one, but you couldn’t pluck up the courage.

Neither of those reasons were enough to get you to the point you were at, not even combined, but the third reason was the worst, and it was enough on its own. It was the reason you’d been so pushy and desperate for him to stay.

It was your first Christmas alone, and that day had been particularly brutal in reminding you of that. You were the child of a single father- your mother walked out when you were still too young to even remember her face- and he had passed away earlier that year after losing a battle to bronchitis and pneumonia after a life of struggling with a compromised immune system. You’d barely made it in time to say goodbye to him after your aunt- with whom you had a bit of a prickly relationship, just because of personalities clashing- wrote to you about it.

The two of you had belonged to Kusagakure, where you’d been trained to be a kunoichi. You were conveniently out of the village the day it was destroyed, which had left you both a little shaken. From there, you went to The Land of Waves to live with your aunt and her family. You hated it. You didn’t get along with your aunt or your two cousins, no matter how hard you tried. There was no one to test your skills against.

The day you turned eighteen, your father asked you to take a letter to his friend in Konoha, just to give you some space. You had gone back to The Land of Waves for no more than three weeks a year in the five or so years since then. Sometimes it was only two weeks, if he was feeling up to meeting you somewhere halfway between on the mainland to celebrate your birthday.

The week you would have headed back for his birthday had been really difficult, but you had distracted yourself with missions. Your birthday was ignored all together, despite the friends you’d made trying to do something for you. Birthdays had been hard, but they weren’t like Christmas, where every turn of your head shoved some reminder in your face. To be fair, your aunt had invited you back, so you knew you at least had somewhere to go, but you both acknowledged that it was probably best you kept your correspondence to letters every other month at the most. You knew your father would have wanted you to keep in touch with the only other family you knew.

Tears trickled down your face as you broke down in convulsing sobs. Figuring that you were alone, you didn’t bother to muffle them at all, purging all the hurt that had accumulated that day.

“Why’d you have to go, Dad?” You whispered to yourself.

You didn’t know how long you cried in your miserable position, but when you were finally done, you knew you needed to get some water, and quickly, or you’d have a headache to be reckoned with in no time. With great effort, you got to your feet and opened your door. Just outside it-

“What are you doing here?” You hoarsely questioned Shikamaru, who was leaning against the wall. It hit you that he might have been there the whole time you’d been crying, so he was not only seeing the aftermath on your face, but had heard your misery.

He sighed heavily. “I wish I could say that I was doing it to be a good friend, but I almost did leave. It took the blizzard that somehow snuck up on us to make me realize I didn’t want to go, and not just because of the snow.”

“You’re not just saying that out of pity, are you? If you are, I’ll throw you out the door myself.”

“Have you ever known me to do anything out of pity?” He quipped.

“No, but I haven’t seen you in a position like this either. The right circumstances can change behavior easily enough, even if you normally suck at emotional support.”

“I wouldn’t say I normally suck,” he argued.

“I would, but I know that you do have a heart.” Your lips curved into a weak smile. “Which is why I’m having a hard time ruling out the idea that you’re only here because you couldn’t conscienably leave me when you knew I was upset.”

“Tch, you don’t know me at all. I’ve run away from Ino more times than I can count when I know she’s upset.”

You laughed with a slight shake of your head. “I think there’s a difference between me and her. She’s one of the three women that you admit you respect, even when they push you around and give you grief. I don’t have to name the other two. I’m nowhere near that level.”

“You don’t think I respect you?” He arched his brow.

“I know you do, just not that much.” You motioned for him to follow you to get a drink and offered him one when you got a glass of water.

He took his time in responding to you as he took a seat, which you were fine with, too focused on hydrating.

“I do respect you that much.”

You shook your head. “Let me put it a little more plainly. Those three women are the ones you care about most. Your mother, Ino, and Temari. Kurenai and Mirai are special mentions, but they’re different. What do those three women have in common, genius? Besides being lovably demanding, that is.”

“Well, the first and second put the fear of God in me whenever they got pissed,” he grumbled. “And the third definitely scared me when I wasn’t even her target.”

“Not quite what I was aiming for. Is it so hard to admit that those women are set apart from the rest because you hold strong affection for each of them? Your mother is your family, Ino might as well be, and according to the rumor mill, Temari will be part of your family in the future.”

“Since when do you pay any attention to rumors?”

“A broken clock is right two times a day,” you stated simply. “It doesn’t take a rumor for me to see the way you look at her and with the banter you two exchange, I’m almost surprised you haven’t acted on all that tension. The two of you are pretty patient.”

“And if it’s not what you think?”

You set him with a smile that you really hoped wasn’t as melancholy as you felt at your core. “Tell me it isn’t. Tell me I’m talking out of my ass and I’ll drop this whole discussion.”

It was a mix of victory and aching when he couldn’t deny what you said right away. During his silence, you started on making hot chocolate, starting to feel the cold seep in. You offered him a mug, but he declined. There was nothing said until you were sipping on your beverage. You’d just about given up on getting an answer and were contemplating checking if it was as bad outside as he said it had been so you could kindly kick him out and finish your dismal evening alone.

“You’re troublesome. Especially when you’re right, even when it’s only partially,” he spoke up, his voice low and quiet.

“Then please, correct me if I’m partially wrong,” you sighed. “You and Temari have something, what else is there?”

“Yeah, we have something, but we can’t go out.”

“Because of the distance? Are you kidding me? That’s the biggest cop out I’ve ever heard.”

“The distance doesn’t help, but it’s really because she caught me looking at someone else a few times too many.”

You almost dropped your mug. “You? Looking at another woman? That’s ridiculous. Not speaking to your morality or anything, but I don’t think you have it in you to cheat.”

“I never would, but she wants me to be sure it’s her I want before making it real.”

“So, what are you going to do? How will you know when you’ll be able to commit without second guessing? Does this other woman know? Does she feel the same way? If the answer is yes to both of those, will you be able to be with her without wondering what might have been with Temari? I mean, you two are a good match.”

“You ask way too many questions.”

“And you provide too few answers.”

He heaved another sigh. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. I don’t know how I’ll be sure about one or the other enough to commit to a relationship, however long it would last. No, the other one doesn’t know. I don’t know exactly how she feels, but she isn’t repulsed by me.”

You chuckled and stirred your drink. “That’s always a good starting point. I guess you can only tell her and see what she says, but Temari deserves more than to feel like a consolation prize if this other one shoots you down. I understand trying to figure out which one balances you out better, but this is a really precarious situation. Temari won’t take a chance until she knows she’s got your full attention, which I understand completely. This other woman doesn’t know, you think-”

“No, I know that she doesn’t have a clue. We’ve had moments where she might have wondered, but it didn’t go beyond that.”

“Well then, I can’t really give you any suggestions without knowing more about her and your relationship with her. I think your best option is to try to move on from this girl. Optimally, no one gets hurt that way, unless she does feel the same about you, and seeing you with Temari hurts her… Again, I don’t have enough information to really consider the variable. I can just see where you and Temari have the best chance with the least amount of hurt feelings.”

“If shogi was a game of emotional warfare, you might actually win a match,” he said with a sly smirk.

“Bastard,” you couldn’t help laughing. “I would totally kick your ass at any game like that.”

Speaking of emotions, he wanted to ask if you were okay, but thought better of it. He knew what the story was, and it wasn’t lack of caring that held him back. He just didn’t want to upset you again, especially when you had brightened up.

“Yeah, I guess you would.”

Half an hour passed, and the two of you went back to what you were doing before he tried to leave.

“So, you don’t have to answer, and I wasn’t even going to ask, but I’m dying to know what other woman could turn your head,” you asked, finally giving into your curiosity and hoping it wasn’t someone else that was so different from you. You liked yourself well enough, but you had already been beaten down enough that hearing he was into a woman that had qualities you didn’t feel you could ever possess would chip at your self-esteem.

He didn’t respond, or acknowledge what you had said at all. You almost repeated it, but decided it wasn’t something that you should. You watched the special on television and tried to relax. It had gotten to be dark by the time that ended, but going on his word, you saw that the blizzard had let up.

“I’m glad you stayed,” you told him, looking out the window, “but I’m sorry you had to hear what you did. You should hurry and get going now, while it’s barely snowing.”

He glanced at you, and with a small smile you loved to see, he answered.

“Yeah, but it’s still really cold outside.”
