Forfeit 💉🇷🇺
(OC HeavyMedic oneshot)
(CW: suggestive / adultery)
Location: Upward
Both Red and Blu teams were currently waiting around for a payload match to officially start up. All of them were scattered around mingling with one another. Heavy used this opportunity to ask out the Blu doctor. The Russian peaked over behind one of the large desert boulders, catching a glimpse of the enemy Medic and Spy. Both men were busy quietly gossiping to each other.
Medic suddenly began to playfully tug on the Frenchman's necktie. Causing the Russian to enviously glare. He then loudly cleared his throat, causing both men to flinch and look behind them. He then took a few steps ahead, walking closer behind the boulder.
“May I have word with doktor?…Privately.” Heavy firmly asked. Spy and Medic both glanced at each other then back up at Heavy.
“Uhh…sure.” Medic hesitantly obliged. Spy slyly smirked. Grabbing both of the doctor’s shoulders, inching him closer towards Heavy.
“Go ahead, he’s all yours.” Spy teasingly replied before swiftly walking back towards the Blu’s respawn building. Medic adjusted his glasses nervously.
“What did you want to talk about?” Medic asked. Heavy took an anxious breath before asking the question he had rehearsed in his mind.
“I wanted to ask if you would be interested in dinner…after work.” Heavy shyly proposed.
Medic’s eyes widened in slight confusion and disbelief. First, this man spared him on the battlefield just the other day. Now, here he was. Asking him out on a random date. It was becoming clearly obvious that this Heavy was infatuated. Medic folded both arms, peaking his head out behind the boulder. Looking aways over at his Red counterpart. Red Medic was currently occupied, happily mingling with their Engineer just a couple miles out.
“I could have sworn you belonged to someone else.” Medic slyly asked. Heavy rolled his eyes, letting out a disgruntled sigh. That statement was technically true. The man just hated being reminded of his own disloyalty. Heavy shook his head no.
“Heavy does not belong to anyone.” Heavy sternly declared. Medic glanced the man up and down.
“Hmm. Well…not having to cook tonight does sound rather nice.” Medic said, leaning his back up against the boulder.
“Da. I plan to make simple home cooked meal for us.” Heavy proclaimed. Medic eagerly glanced him up and down once more. A home cooked meal certainly had more romantic intentions than your average diner date. The thought of his brutish enemy cooking him a meal felt oddly alluring. Medic suddenly brought a hand up to lightly graze against the Russian’s chest. Hooking two of his fingers into the neckline of the man’s shirt, tugging down on it to reveal even more of the man's chest hair.
“I’ll gladly provide the dessert. That is, if you let me stay the night.” Medic crudely stated. Heavy’s cheeks instantly flushed at the lewd suggestion.
“If that's what doktor wants...I-I see no problem.” Heavy bashfully obliged. Medic flirtatiously chuckled, grabbing at the Russian’s gold chain dangled around his neck. Pulling him down an inch closer, intentionally brushing their chests together.
“Ja. I’ll have dinner with you…on one condition.” Medic piped up. Heavy blinked.
“What condition?” Heavy asked.
“Forfeit.” Medic deviously proposed.
Heavy gulped, anxiously glancing over at a couple of his Red teammates that were off in the distance. Medic brushed his gloved finger underneath the man’s chin. Causing Heavy to slowly gaze back down at him.
“If you forfeit this match...” Medic began to say. Inching his lips close to the Russian’s ear.
“I’ll give you a small taste of what's to come.” Medic enticed further. Heavy’s mind went to complete mush. He stood a few silent moments, anxiously rubbing the back of his neck. All his rational thoughts were clouded by this doctor’s flirty proposition. According to the Russian, this opportunity was well worth betraying his crappy teammates.
“Da. I forfeit.” Heavy quickly answered.
'Guten junge.'
Medic pondered with a cocky grin. He then grabbed the man by his shirt collar. Quickly pulling him down into a messy but firm kiss. Heavy quickly took his hat off, shielding both their faces temporarily. Desperately melting into the deep kiss. Feeling the doctor’s tongue eagerly swirl and prod inside of his mouth. Medic eventually detached from the kiss. Leaving a small string of saliva connected at their lips. Heavy's hat slipped from his fingers and onto the ground. He was left with a flustered and dazed expression.
"I'll catch up with you later." Medic bashfully grinned, then suddenly waved goodbye. The doctor quickly sprinted off back towards Blu respawn to prepare for battle.
Heavy was stood there looking entranced and dumbfounded. He anxiously picked his hat back up from the ground, dusting it off over his knee. The Russian's mind immediately went to planning out various ways to sabotage his own teammates into losing this upcoming match.

"If He Catches Me..." a Meta on Lan Wangji's Unconditional Support Pt. 2
Not only does Lan Wangji unconditionally support Wei Wuxian in the latter's second life, he actually does the same in the man's first, too, despite many instances being either overlooked or outside of his knowledge. Lan Wangji physically protects Wei Wuxian on multiple occasions:
Wen ZhuLiu couldn’t attend to both sides at the same time, blundering amid the chaos. As he looked to the side and saw Wei WuXian’s cold smile, he threw himself at him. Both of the two on the roof frowned. Lan WangJi smacked down. The tiles shattered and the roof collapsed. Through the roof, he descended into the second floor of the courier station and blocked Wen ZhuLiu from Wei WuXian.
—Chapt. 62: Evil, exr
Jin ZiXuan dodged to the side and returned to him a sword attack, “If I don’t grab her should I let her walk randomly around the mountain alone?!” However, the sword glare was hit to the side by another glare, shooting into the sky. Seeing who it was, Jin ZiXuan was shocked, “HanGuang-Jun?” Lan WangJi unsheathed Bichen. Standing between the three, he maintained his silence.
—Chapt. 69: Departure, exr
At this point, Wen Ning pounced on him. As though he was hit by a large boulder, Wei WuXian flew back from the force, crashing onto a tree. He felt warmth rise up his throat and cursed. Lan WangJi saw this happen just as he returned. His expression changed at once and he rushed in front of him. Wen Qing had just shoved Wen Yuan into another’s arms. She wanted to check on Wei WuXian’s injuries, but he got there before she could. She paused with surprise. Lan WangJi was almost embracing Wei WuXian as he held his hand and passed spiritual energy to him.
—Chapt. 75: Distance, exr
“Not many of the people left were still conscious at the time. I myself could barely move. I could only stare as WangJi limped after you, grabbed you, and flew off on his sword even though his cultivation was clearly near its limit. ... Lan XiChen continued, “When my uncle reached him, he’d scolded him and asked him to explain himself. However WangJi seemed to have already expected us to find him, he only said, ‘There’s nothing to explain. This is what it seems.’ All his life, WangJi has never defied Uncle and I on anything. But for you, not only did he defy Uncle, he even drew his sword on the fellow cultivators of his own sect, and severely injured all thirty-three seniors of the Gusu Lan Sect that were with us......”
—Chapt. 99: A Hatred for Life Part 2, boat-full-of-lotus-pods
...offers him aid, at times without even needing to be asked:
Wei Wuxian’s sword was optimized for agility, and consequently, its strength happened to fall just short, and they were nearly pulled to the surface of the lake. Wei Wuxian steadied himself and held on to Su She with both hands. “Someone help! If I can’t pull him up soon, I’ll have to let go!” he shouted. Suddenly, the back of Wei Wuxian’s collar tightened, and his body was lifted into the air. He twisted his neck and saw Lan Wangji holding him up with one hand. Though the boy’s indifferent gaze was directed elsewhere, he and his sword alone had no trouble bearing the weight of three people, even fighting against the mysterious force inside the lake. They rose higher and higher at a stable pace.
—Chapt. 17: Elegance VII, fanyiyi
Lan WangJi put into Wen Yuan’s palm the butterfly that he dropped. He didn’t answer the question, but instead asked, “Why do you not mount your sword?” Wei WuXian, “Forgot to bring it!” Without saying anything, Lan WangJi took him by his waist and brought him onto Bichen as they rose into the air.
—Chapt. 74: Distance, exr
Wei WuXian pulled out Chenqing, “Lan...!” He wanted to entrust Lan WangJi with saving the others as he stayed to deal with Wen Ning. When he turned around, he had already disappeared. Just as he was beginning to panic, sounds of the zither vibrated through the sky, sending off a murder of startled crows. Before he could even ask, Lan WangJi had already gone over. Wei WuXian felt his heart settle.
...
Wei WuXian whipped out twelve talismans, “Don’t know where I put it!” The twelve yellow talismans formed a line in midair and began to burn. When they landed on Wen Ning, like a chain of fire, they held him down at once. With a flip of his wrist, Lan WangJi strummed the strings of his zither. Wen Ning’s footsteps seemed to have been hindered by an invisible thread. He paused, but continued to struggle forward despite the difficulty. Wei WuXian put Chenqing to his lips. Due to the blow he received, some blood sprayed out from his lips. He frowned, but he endured the pain and the blood churning within his chest, playing without a single tremble. Under the two’s collaboration, Wen Ning kneeled on the ground and let out a roar skyward.
—Chapt. 75: Distance, exr
...and defends Wei Wuxian against other cultivators who attempt to bad-mouth or slander him:
Nie MingJue’s gaze turned over again, “Why does Wei Ying not carry his sword?” Carrying one’s sword was like wearing formal attire. In such gatherings, it was a non-negligible indication of etiquette. Those from prominent sects saw it as especially important. Lan WangJi responded in a lukewarm tone, “He had probably forgotten.” Ning MingJue raised a brow, “He can even forget something like this?” Lang WangJi, “It is nothing out of the ordinary.”
—Chapt. 49: Guile, exr
He was the only one left to clean up the mess. How could he leave the scene? He reassured the crowd as he ranted, completely exhausted, “Young Master Wei really is too impulsive. How could he speak in such a way in front of so many sects?” Lan WangJi spoke coldly, “Was he wrong?” Jin GuangYao paused almost unnoticeably. He immediately laughed, “Haha. Yes, he’s right. But it’s because he’s right that he can’t say it in front of them, correct?”
—Chapt. 72: Recklessness, exr
Jin GuangShan shook his head, “In an event as important as the Flower Banquet, he dared throw a fit right in front of you, leaving however he pleased. He even dared say something like ‘I don’t care about the sect leader Jiang WanYin at all!’ Everyone who was there heard it with their own ears...” Suddenly, an indifferent voice spoke up, “No.” Jin GuangShan was in the middle of his fabrication. Hearing this, he paused in surprise, turning along with the crowd to see who it was. Lan WangJi sat with his back straight, speaking in a tone of absolute tranquility, “I did not hear Wei Ying say this. I did not hear him express the slightest disrespect towards Sect Leader Jiang either.” Lan WangJi rarely spoke when he was outside. Even when they debated cultivation techniques during Discussion Conferences, he only answered when others questioned or challenged him. With utmost concision, he overcame, without fault, the lengthy arguments of others. Apart from this, he almost never spoke up. And thus, when Jin GuangShan was interrupted by him, he experienced a far greater shock than annoyance. But after all, his fabrication was exposed right in front of so many. He felt a bit awkward.
—Chapt. 73: Recklessness, exr
While most of these instances are left to be revealed in the second half of the story, it makes clear that Lan Wangji has always tried to be there to catch Wei Wuxian, even if his efforts only bore fruit during Wei Wuxian's second life.

Anti-discrimination policies for employment of workers in defense industries were mandated by President Roosevelt in Executive Order 8802, signed Jun. '41. This order did not extend to housing, which was fully segregated for workers of Basic Magnesium, Inc.
The Hammes-Euclemiler Co. of Los Angeles built Carver Park in the Basic Townsite for the African American employees of BMI between '41–'43. The development was designed by architect Paul R. Williams, Los Angeles. The location was east of Boulder Hwy near Lake Mead Dr at what is now Grand Cadence Dr. in Henderson.

staring at my sqh/yqy peak lord fiance ficlet. consider this! sqh is still consorting with demons while this happens because why not. mobei-jun still exists and is fully aware of the whole "haha i'm engaged to my shixiong and everything is so fucking weird" and sqh is muttering about this as he looks through some northern desert stuff.
it's just. come on, yue-shixiong. we're engaged, you don't have to keep chasing after your xiao jiu -- not that sqh minds!!! if you two get along, great, that's everything that great airplane god wanted! but like, it gets really awkward when you run away while you're on a date with lil ole shang qinghua, and then everyone starts feeling very sorry for sqh for having a fiance so obviously in love with another man, which, okay, sqh absolutely took advantage of to get paperwork done at first, but it's starting to get wayyyyy more awkward now --
mbj finds himself in the wonderful position of being able to give sqh dating advice. does mbj date? no. but does he know what dating looks like? hell yeah. it seems a shame that his best spy/advisor/friend(?) doesn't know the answer to this.
"hit him," mbj suggests.
"what," sqh says.
"three times a day."
and then we get into a discussion on demon courting and sqh going "haha that's nice but yqy isn't a demon" and mbj is like "i don't understand why you don't try it, how else are you going to get his attention".
"humans don't court by punching people???"
"you don't appear to be making any progress doing this the human way." and mbj says this super condescendingly, too. like hey, sqh, you're such a loser. you have no game. of course you have no bitches. how can you have bitches if you don't punch people in the face.
well, yeah?? fuck you too, my king! it's not like you've ever had a date, are you not launching a boulder while being precariously balanced on your glass peak (me: i'm paraphrasing bu-ding-talk, check them out)? sqh could totally make progress if he wants to! not that he wants to! who wants to make progress with yqy??
anyway, this gets buried until the next time yqy pays sqq too much attention and sqh had the most resigned fucking look on his face. like come on. this again?
lqg is there. sqh makes incredibly awkward small talk. like haha hey how's your engagement to sqq. good? bad? ahahaha yeah, actually, sqh didn't have to ask, obviously it's bad. look, our fiances are running away with each other. people keep telling sqh that he needs to keep yue-shixiong's attention somehow, but all the advice is weird. in fact this guy last week said that sqh should hit yqy three times a day, not that sqh is going to try that --
"hmm," says lqg. "that's not a bad idea."
sqh is abruptly reminded that he is talking to lqg, a man who probably would be more interested in people if they punched him in the face.
"is that what you're doing with sqq???" says sqh.
the answer is no, of course not, don't be dumb. but like, if sqq WASN'T a poisonous snake of a man and a decent human being, lqg would mayhaps have his interest piqued with a good fight. that's so much better than flowers and haircombs. who wants courting gifts when you can have a good punch in the face.
"hahaha thanks liu-shidi but maybe not i think yue-shixiong could probably kill me if i tried," says sqh and scurries away.
fast-forward a week or two, in which sqh is having a stressful time. maybe it's tax season. maybe it's a shitty night hunt that he has no business being on. either way, yqy is there with him and good god is yqy zoned out.
is yqy actually zoned out? eh, maybe not. perhaps he is actually fully paying attention, but also he takes a look at a stand for fans while sqh is talking to him and sqh is like "shit, is this sqq again?" exasperation turning into anger while sqh is just, super stressed, and he just needs yqy to pay attention to him just this once, and the thought occurs -- well, at least two separate people have told him that he just needs to hit yqy --
all this to say that sqh just fucking decks yqy
#svsss#shang qinghua#yue qingyuan#sqh/yqy#i don't know where i was going with this#this was probably funnier in my head#sorry yqy#remedies for ruin#rr: the original

The waiting game
Written for @flashfictionfridayofficial with the prompt FFF305 - divine questioning imagining the missing scenes before Wakamiya/Nazukihiko’s return to Yamauchi and the eventual employment of Yukiya to his household, who is only mentioned but hasn’t appeared. Yet. This is an alternate universe as I only conceived an idea that Nazukihiko might have worked in a restaurant as an apprentice due to his penchant for cooking, and other things. A bunch of head canons. Chisato Abe’s original works have been the springboard.
—
Fandom: Yatagarasu: The Raven Does Not Choose Its Master
Characters: Wakamiya/Nazukihiko, Jun Tenimura (the Great Tengu), mention of Yukiya and Lord Natsuka, original character
Word count : 1019
—
Three weeks before Wakamiya’s return to Yamauchi

Amidst the turbulence happening in the kitchen, there was something peaceful in the apprentice sous chef’s heart. Soon he’d go back to his hometown. As the true Golden Raven, the purpose he was born with would begin in earnest. From his colleagues no one suspected that he was not human, but another being from another realm altogether. One could say he was something close to a deity. Despite it all he’d leave this group of people without them knowing who he really was, but an eager, beautiful young man who fell in love with cooking and creating recipes.
He was preparing his utensils and a knife that he favoured when a pair of scurrying feet approached him. It was the pastry chef.
“Nazuki-san, do you have time? There is someone who wants to see you.” Out of breath, he led the young apprentice to the office. A familiar face greeted him.
“Old friend!” It was the Great Tengu, who everybody called in the Outside World as Jun Tenimura. A businessman. A middleman.
Nazukihiko, after closing the door, received the Tengu’s warm welcome. After they hugged, they both patted each other’s backs. Junten was a few centimetres smaller, with his short hair that was dyed a hundred times before, his round-framed eyeglasses matched his amiable face.
This time, his hair was dyed blueish that became indigo when the sun rays reflected the strands from the office’s glass roof.
“Did you find anything else?” Nazukihiko asked. A letter emerged upon his desk when he went to work to the restaurant a week ago. Feigning his ignorance, he read its content. The sender warned him that his life would be in danger if he planned to return to Yamauchi.
“A friendly reminder that you aren’t safe in the court as they aim for your head.” A foreboding statement concluded the letter.
“Not so much, but it can only mean that they are serious about it, that is, they definitely are planning to assassinate you. So please watch your back.”
The Tengu’s declaration was as straightforward as an arrow pointing at Nazukihiko. As the young crown prince, he knew that his life had always been in danger ever since he was born.
“They never waste time, huh?” Nazukihiko stroked his chin.
“The letter that you received was written by a woman. That much I could infer. I have seen movements from the Southern Territory. From what I've heard from my associates, Lord Tōru has been sending delegates to the Outside World. I can tell you that they have another set of contacts. But I have an inkling that they could be the tanukis. They are known to double-deal and love to trick humans. They could be downright nasty and cruel.”
“If they were seeking help outside Yamauchi I wonder what is in it for them? More power? More money?”
“Nazukihiko, you know darn well that Yamauchi is not going to last forever. Think of it as investment for them. They are finding ways to control their future life outside of that environment.”
Leaving from Suzaku Gate, which bordered around the Southern Territory, and where the Tengu and his clan operated, a Yatagarasu could still retain their image as a human, hence losing the ability of their raven form if they would decide to cross the humongous tunnel that surrounded with rocks and boulders. Inside it was a long conveyor belt that scanned goods from both the Outside World and the country ready to be traded in Yamauchi and vice versa. On the flooring was a number of tracks for trolleys and small carriages where wheels made of iron from the interior mountain were running. Moreover, the officials from the Southern Command kept track of the comings and going-ons of every Yatagarasu who left the country with a special paperwork.
“There are sightings of shiranui in different places, yes. My brother alerted me that a whole village vanished a year ago. No one knew what happened to the inhabitants.”
“Ah! The holes are getting more difficult to maintain, huh?”
“Well, that is the first thing I have to do once I am back. Patching them.”
The Tengu gazed at his friend with compassion in his eyes. Despite holding the highest position in the land, he could never envy him due to the troubles he’d face in the future. Or the moment he returned to his country.
“For now this is the only thing I have got. But be sure I will contact you once again I get more details, Nazukihiko,” Junten touched again his friend's shoulder, squeezing it. If only a touch could take away someone's worries. But being an outsider, he wanted to maintain a more professional approach to his dealings with the Soke Family. After all, he and Wakamiya had to be careful once the Southern Family got a wind of their partnership. It would be bad for his business.
“I am indebted to you,” Nazukihiko seemed to understand what ran inside the Great Tengu’s mind. At the end of the day, it was Lord Tōru who introduced him to Lord Natsuka, who in turn asked Junten to mentor a then teenaged Nazukihiko in the Outside World. One could not simply discern to whom exactly his loyalty lay. Nazukihiko knew that he was useful to anyone as long as he was able and could benefit the other party. The one in a hundred he still had to determine by himself. It was the divine question that the mountain god could only answer if he were here to help the crown prince.
Wakamiya, sitting alone in his dormitory room, had an idea who would be the possible candidate. The question remained if his brother would be successful bringing in that person to their circle. Once he did, the next steps would be easier. Yet, somehow it gave him anxiety. He had to take it slow. He had to convince that person that he needed him. But before that he wanted to make sure that the “blockhead rumours” were not true.
“I’ll be waiting for you, Yukiya…”

Been reading Meatbun's new 2ha extra, it's a cute story about Mo Ran turning into a cat, but even so Meatbun finds a way to sprinkle some angst in the story. Here's said angsty content I translated from chapter 2 of the extra, it's about cat Mo Ran having a nightmare:
He dreamt that he searched for antidotes to no avail, and eventually could only remain a cat in physical form, never having the fortune to be human again. He was heartbroken, walked out of his home, his snow white paws leaving footprints as crestfallen, a lone traveller...oh no, a lone cat walked on the paths of Nanping Mountain by himself.
Stray cats slinked out of the bamboo grove - one, two, three, then a great horde - pairs of glowing green eyes like fireflies emerged in darkness, and stared at him curiously.
Finally he arrived at the end of the path, where a full moon hung in the sky, and there was a great boulder on which sat a slender and elegant white cat under the moon. The white cat lowered its eyes and looked down at him, and asked: "What's your name? Where are you from, cat?"
His insides were burning with anger and hatred, and he didn't feel like replying at all. Finding the white cat a nuisance, he meowed and pounced on it, throwing it to the ground.
"This venerable one is not a cat! This venerable one is human! This venerable one is not a cat! This venerable one is human!!"
The white cat had good intentions, but became the scapegoat he took out his anger on. He roared and forcefully tore at its fur with his claws to vent his rage, and the white cat's snowlike fur was soon dyed by spatters of blood.
He froze for a second, memories of Chu Wanning in his blood stained white clothes at the Tianchi Lake flashed before his eyes. He shuddered, his voice broke: "Wanning?! Could that be you? Have you become a cat too?!?!"
The green eyes all around turned into firelies surrounding him; eerie laughter from all over the bamboo grove flooded out at him like a mournful tide.
"Aye...Aye..."
"That is him, do you see it clearly now...You killed him with your own hands again...You made the grave mistake by your own hands again..."
"Haha...Hahahaha..."
Taxian Jun came to suddenly as if he fell into an icy abyss.
No...
Wait!
Again, the bright moon, the bamboo grove, the stony path, the chirping of insects...
He was still not awake, and once again he was back on that mountain path.
There was no cat, and no blood.
He was still walking by himself, a lone cat on the mountain path, and slowly, those green lights appeared again - the curious looks of cats' eyes grew in number, from one pair to infinite pairs, converging into a milky way in the bamboo grove. The bamboo leaves rustled; he didn't halt his steps, as if knowing something must be waiting for him in front, and walked along the mossy stone path without stop.
Suddenly, the boulder appeared in front of him again. Bamboo leaves weaved over head, bright moon shone in the sky.
But this time, it wasn't the white cat that sat on the boulder, but Chu Wanning clad in snow white clothes.
Taxian Jun saw him, and called excitedly: "Wanning...!"
What came out his mouth however was still "meow".
He couldn't tell if Chu Wanning understood him; he simply looked at Mo Ran, deep in thought, and after a long while, he sighed: "Mo Ran...your sins are too grave, and you have been too unruly, so this is the punishment of the heavens for you that you can never be human again."
What?
No! Impossible!
Taxian Jun rushed ahead in strides.
There must be a way to resolve this, f*k this punishment! Wanning, you must believe me...
Why don't you believe me either? Even you won't believe me?
He was so distressed that he could be burned up into a wisp of smoke, but all that came out of his throat were pathetic meows.
Seeing him in such a state, Chu Wanning lowered his hands, and looked at him with resignation: "This is something neither of us can help, you can only accept your fate."
"Mo Ran, I'll give you another name from now on."
Chu Wanning said to him with what almost felt like pity: "How about I call you Mimi?"
"Meooow!"
To hell with Mimi!!!
Taxian Jun felt like falling into the abyss again, and the green eyes in the bamboo grove brimmed with a burning excitement. One by one, the cats soon appeared from the gaps of the bamboo groves, from behind the boulder, from up in the trees, from beside the steps; every one of them grimaced and emitted sounds like human laughter.
"Mwa ha ha ha..."
"Hahaha, who'd have thought Emperor Taxian Jun would live to see this day!"
"Taxian Jun, why did he call you Mimi?"
"Hahahaha..."
Taxian Jun: "Scram!!!"
Outside the dream, the tuxedo cat meowed faintly and mournfully.

HOW DOES THE CONCEPT OF TIME CHANGE IN THE PRESENCE OF STRONG GRAVITATIONAL FIELD??
Blog#327
Wednesday, August 30th, 2023
Welcome back,
The force of gravity treats time like taffy. The stronger its pull, the more gravity can stretch out time, making it pass more slowly. By using a new atomic clock, scientists have now measured this slowing of time over the shortest distance yet — just one millimeter (0.04 inch).
Albert Einstein’s theory of general relativity predicts that where gravity is stronger, time passes more slowly.

That’s called time dilation. Gravity is stronger closer to the center of the Earth. So, according to Einstein, time should pass more slowly closer to the ground. (And experiments have confirmed this.)
Jun Ye led the research group that now shows how this holds over even super short distances. He’s a physicist at JILA in Boulder, Colo. (That institute was once known as the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics.)

It’s run by the University of Colorado and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The new clock’s ability to sense tiny changes in gravity makes it a powerful tool. It could help monitor climate change. It also could help predict volcanic eruptions — even map the Earth. And its design paves the way for atomic clocks that are even more super-precise, its creators say. Such clocks could help solve fundamental mysteries of the universe.

The new atomic clock is “a big, dispersed system with a lot of different components,” says Alexander Aeppli. He’s a graduate student on Ye’s team at the University of Colorado. In all, the new clock spans two rooms and contains mirrors, vacuum chambers and eight lasers.
All clocks have three main parts. The first is something that goes back and forth, or oscillates. Then, there’s a counter that tracks the number of oscillations. (That ever-increasing count advances the time shown on the clock.) Finally, there’s a reference against which the clock’s timekeeping can be compared.

That reference provides a way to check if the clock is running too fast or too slow.
A grandfather clock is a helpful way to picture how all these parts work together, Aeppli says. It has a pendulum that swings back and forth, or oscillates, at a regular interval — once a second. After each oscillation, a counter moves the clock’s second hand forward. After sixty oscillations, the counter moves the minute hand forward. And so on. Historically, the sun’s position at noon served as a reference to ensure these clocks ran on time.

“An atomic clock has those same three components, but they’re far different in scale,” Aeppli explains. Its oscillations are provided by a laser. That laser has an electric field that cycles back and forth incredibly fast ― in this case, 429 trillion times a second. That’s too fast for electronics to count. So, atomic clocks use a special laser-based device called a frequency comb as a counter.

Everything I watch in Jan 2024
I was going to post my annual everything I watched in 2023 post but I feel like I missed my opportunity, so here is my everything I watched in January 2024... (Be Warned there are some spoilers, I do try to mark them throughout the review)
My Lovely Boxer (2023, Kim Min-joo)
Main leads: Lee Sang-yeob, Kim So-hye, Park Ji-hwan, Kim Hyung-mook, Kim Jin-woo, Ha Seung-ri, Chae Won-bin
Country: S. Korea
Run: August 21 to Oct 2, 2023 (KBS2, Monday and Tuesday @21:45 (KST))
Episodes: 12, 70 min
Thoughts: Lee Kwon-sook (Kim So-hye) is a boxer who is forcibly thrown back into the world boxing that she has retired from by a sports agent Kim Tae-young (Lee Sang-yeob). I really liked how they balanced the characters. Lee Kwon-sook is a cheerful girl who is constantly haunted by her past. And she is allowed agency to do what she can do, despite the efforts of others. And the relationship between Lee Kwon-sook and Kim Tae-young, though slightly toxic, works in an odd way. I did have problems with how they reconnected her with her father.I personally wouldn’t have forgiven him. However, I loved the relationship with Han Ah-reum, and just how that story ends. I thought it was done very well. Overall I have really enjoyed this drama. Rating:
Unlock My Boss (2022-2023, Kim Hyung-min)
Main leads: Chae Jong-hyeop, Seo Eun-soo, Park Sung-woong
Country: S. Korea
Run: Dec 7, 2022 to Jan 12, 2023 (ENA, Wednesday and Thursday @21:00 (KST))
Episodes: 12, 60 min
Thoughts: Oh wow, this is more enjoyable than I imagined. Chase Jong-hyeop as Park In-seong is so fun. He is adorable, down to earth but capable. Jun Se-yeon (Seo Eun-soo) was amazing and I loved her complexities as a character. And the trio of Kim Seon-joo (Park Sung-woong), Park In-seong, and Jun Se-yeon, was so fun and I loved the little family they formed. I literally cried so much during this show for no reason. Like the zoom into the phone literally made me sob each time for no reason. Rating: Who knew electronics can have that much range?
Night Has Come (2023, Kang Min-Ji)
Main leads: Lee Jae-In, Kim Woo-Seok, Choi Ye-Bin, Cha Woo-Min, Ahn Ji-Ho, Jung So-Ri
Country: S. Korea
Run: Dec 4,, 2023 ( U+mobiletv)
Episodes: 12, 35 to 40 min
Thoughts: This started off really good. A class gets thrust into a mafia game to the death. You along with the characters are wondering who is the mafia among the students and who is forcing this game. It is really interesting, but the episodes follow the same pattern. The end you find everything out, and it's kind of stupied. They had a classmate who committed sucide due to a badly edited image of herself on a skimply clad woman’s body. Which is yeah bad. Then her parents take revenge on the whole class. They are placed in this mafia simulator to repeat the game over and over again. It ends with Lee Yoon-seo able to remember everything, but still trapped in the simulator. Like where their parents are. People must be concerned right. Rating: Sisphyus boulder, I guess…
The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (2023-2024, Go Nam-jeong)
Main leads: Lee Se-young, Bae In-hyuk, Joo Hyun-young, Yoo Seon-ho, Jo Bok-rae
Country: S. Korea
Run: Nov 24, 2023 to Jan 6, 2024 (MBC TV Friday and Saturday @21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 12, 70 min
Thoughts: This was a cute drama. It starts off with a cute romance between a progressive woman in Joseon and a sick scholar. However, it quickly becomes a tragedy and she is sent to the year 2023 with her hand maid Sa-wol (Joo Hyun-young). It quickly becomes a fish out of water for Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), but luckly she meets the recacrante of her late husband Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk) and they make a deal. It is a cute drama and I loved the cast of characters. Yeon-woo is easy to root for. Sa-wol is adorable, and adapts quickly. Kang Tae-ha is prickly but has a heart of gold. It's dramatic and fun. It's nothing special, but oh is it so good. My favorite part is Yeon-woo and Sa-wol’s relationship. Literally there is a scene with those two that reflects a romantic scene in Perfect Marriage Revenage (2023) which I can’t stop thinking about. Overall I just really enjoyed my time. Rating: butterflies everytime I think about you…
Joseon Attorney: A Morality (2023,Choi Jin-young)
Main leads: Woo Do-hwan, Bona, Cha Hak-yeon
Country: S. Korea
Run: March 31 to May 5, 2023 (MBC TV Friday and Saturday @21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 70 min
Thoughts: This was a lot like Taxi Driver. In the way you have an episodic feel with a charismatic male lead seeking revenge and helping people. I had a lot of fun with this show, and I don’t use the comparison lightly either. I really had fun with it. The romance was okay, but I liked the different stories, and the main revenge plot was easy to follow along with. Woo Do-hwan is a great actor and meant to be a leading man. It's definitely not my favorite and there are a few things that needed changing but it was fun overall! Rating: Who do you call?... Joseon Attorney!!!
KBS Drama Special 14 (2023, Choi Ja-won, Yun Tae-woo, Cho Il-yeon, Choi Yi-kyung, Wi Jae-hwa, Kwon Oh-joo,Park Eun-seo, Jo Soo-yeong, Kim Ik-hyun)
Main leads: Lee Jae-won, Choi Seong-won, and Kim Kang-hyeon, Kim Won-hae, Min Ji-ah, Ahn Se-bin and Park Ji-ah, Lee Min-jae, Kim Hyun-soo, and Kang Na-eon, Moon Woo-jin, Park Seo-kyung, Park Ha-sun, Kim Joo-heon, Kim Do-hoon, Chae Won-bin, Kim Dong-hwi, Jo A-ram, Shim Yi-young, Joo Seok-tae, Ren, Park Sang-nam, Hong Seung-hee, Hahm Eun-jung, Kim Kang-min, Yoon San-ha, Baek Sung-hyun
Country: S. Korea
Run: OCT 14 to Dec 16, 2023 (KBS, Saturday 21:50 to 22:50 (KST))
Episodes: 10, 60 to 80 min
Thoughts: This is a yearly anthogolgy series that follows various characters in various time periods with various goals. I thought a lot of them were really cool and interesting. “Love Attack” was by far one of my favorites, but I also really liked “The True Love of Madam” which was shocking for me. It was also hard to find any subs for “Overlap, Knife, Knife” so I had to rely on visual cues and the small amount of Korean I know. But I thought this was a fun anthrologie series, and the stories are fun and fresh. Rating: I love getting short and quick stories like this, its the reason I love short films so much.
A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023-2024, Baek In-ah)
Main leads: Park Gyu-young, Cha Eun-woo, Lee Hyun-woo
Country: S. Korea
Run: Oct 11, 2023 to Jan 10, 2024 (MBC, Wednesday 21:00 (KST))
Episodes: 14, 70 min
Thoughts: Apparently it is very different from the webtoon ( which I have never read), but I found it entertaining. It is cute and lighthearted. I always like when its past lives, I think it adds a fun element to romances. Though I do think the schedule of the show hindered my enjoyment, because it would be so long between episodes. They also lost me at the end, I can not lie. Rating/Spoiler: Also I would be so angery if I found out my family curse passed down for generations was over a misunderstanding. I would want an apology, reparations, and revenge. On another note, I would also be so pissed if I killed myself to save my servant's baby; then my boyfriend finished off the dying father, then cursed the child and its offspring. I would be pissed, like my scarfice was for not. Go off mountain spirit I guess…
My 20th Twenty (2023, N/A)
Main leads: Choi Yu Ju , Jung Su Bin
Country: S. Korea
Run: April 21 to may 27, 2023 (Wavve, Friday and Saturday)
Episodes: 12, 15 min
Thoughts: This show was good for what it was. It has the vibe of a college student film with a mix of those youtube series made by middle schoolers back in 2009. And I mean that with the highest praise. The sound mixing was off, they had limited cast (background actors is what you are looking for), no interesting lighting (but very well light- i.e the student film vibes), and the actors new to the scene. I loved every motherfucking moment. It was so cheesy, the script was bad, and nothing made sense. But I knew that it was made with passion. Rating: It would be horrifying being 20 forever
Taxi Driver Season 2 (2023, Oh Sang-ho)
Main leads: Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, Bae Yoo-ram, Shin Jae-ha
Country: S. Korea
Run: Feb 17 to April 15, 2023 (SBS, TV Friday and Saturday @22:00 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 70 min
Thoughts: Back in action the second season is so much fun and entertaining. I actually like it better than the first. And I said this once and I’ll say it again Lee Je-hoon is made to be an action star. He’s as great as Kim Do-gi. I also liked that Ahn Go-eun (Pyo Ye-jin) had a larger role this season. I also just love the friendship in the Rainbow Taxi service. Just so fun. Rating: imagine being taken down by a taxi service…
Taxi Driver Special (2023, SBS)
Main leads: Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, Bae Yoo-ram, Shin Jae-ha
Country: S. Korea
Run: Feb 16 to March 4, 2023 ( KBS)
Episodes: 2, 60 -120 min
Thoughts: This was fun seeing the cast reflect on the episodes and their characters. Its also cool just seeing a reply of everything that happened. You could tell how much Lee Je-hoon loves playing Kim Do-gi. Rating: I am excited for the 3rd season…
Brain Works (2023, Park Kyung-seon)
Main leads: Jung Yong-hwa, Cha Tae-hyun, Kwak Sun-young, Ye Ji-won
Country: S. Korea
Run: Jan 2 to Fe 28, 2023 (KBS2 Monday and Tuesday @21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 75 min
Thoughts:This show is weird. I think most cop shows are weird but this one especially. I did like the bromance in this, between Shin Ha-ru (Jung Yong-hwa) and Geum Myung-se (Ch Tae-hyun). I did think neuroscience was weird and defies logic. The only good thing about it was when they didn’t completely vilify Pyschopaths, because it tends to be more complicated than the mainstream likes to show. It still left a lot to be desired but it was there. Also when he lowkey kidnapped and torture that kid, oh my god, like he was a little punk and deserved to go to trail but my god. Rating: This is lowkey giving Minority Report tbh…
My Cuteness is about to expire!? (2022, Tanabe Shigenori)
Main leads: Yamada Ryosuke, Yoshine Kyoko
Country: Japan
Run: April 16 to June 11, 2022 (TV Asahi, Saturday 23:30)
Episodes: 9, 23 to 47 min
Thoughts: Maruya is your typical male narcissist who works in sales. He uses his cuteness to stake by in life, to make up for his average skills. One day he is visited by his future self, whom he deems ugly, tells him that his cuteness is going to expire. He decides, after relizing his crush, the only way to prevent this is to date Sanada, a robotic newbie to the sales team. It is cute and Maruya and Sanada are fun as a couple, plus if you have the time you could watch this in a day. Rating: I’m Ichinose calling every single person every 10 seconds sobbing…
My Dearest Pt 1 (2023, Hwang Jin-young)
Main leads: Namkoong Min, Ahn Eun-jin, Lee Hak-joo, Lee Da-in, Kim Yoon-woo, Lee Chung-ah
Country: S. Korea
Run: August 4 to Sept 2, 2023 (MBC TV, Friday and Saturday 21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 10, 60 to 90 min
Thoughts: I was not expecting to like this more than I did. The angst in every episode is so insane. Episode 10 was actually unbearable. I also want to take a moment and appreciate Yoo Gil-chae (Ahn Eun-jin), she is such a complicated character. She would do anything for her friends, she is willing to do the things that no other women (noble) are willing to do even during times of war. She will stab the man assualting her friend and cover it up. She would cut the amicable cord, she would stab the mother’s hand. She isn’t pure of heart, she neveer claimed to be. I love her so much. And her relationship with Lee Jang-hyun. The ending of episode 10. I was sobbing. Rating: I am trying to hype myself up to watch the next 11 episodes, people had to wait inbetween…
The Escape of the Seven (2023, Kim Soon-ok)
Main leads: Um Ki-joon, Hwang Jung-eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yu-bi, Shin Eun-kyung, Yoon Jong-hoon, Jo Yoon-hee, Jo Jae-yoon
Country: S. Korea
Run: Sept 15 to Nov 17, 2023 (SBS TV Friday and Saturday 22:00 (KST))
Episodes: 17, 70 to 80 min
Thoughts: This was an insane ride. Literally no one in this likeable except for a few, like I didn’t think Min Do-hyuk (Lee Joon) was as bad as the others but oh lordy. It is so melodramatic, which took me off graud for some reason. Going into it I thought it was going to be a serious thriller, but oh boy was I wrong. It was Makjang. Which is fine, and also coming back in style apparently. I’m sat for season 2, but not with much hope. Rating: I actually don’t know the timeline of any of these events, does it expand years months, idk…
My Demon (2023-2024, Choi Ah-il)
Main leads: Kim Yoo-jung, Song Kang, Lee Sang-yi, Kim Hae-sook
Country: S. Korea
Run: Nov 24, 2023 to Jan 20, 2024 (SBS TV, Friday and Saturday @22:00 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 70 min
Thoughts: I was excited for this drama. I really liked Doom at Your Service which promised to have a similar vibe. Which it did to an extent. I actually hate Song Kang in romances and only really like him in nonromance shows. However I think he did really well as Jeong Gu-won. I liked the overall Romance in the show. But I did think the revenge plot got uninteresting and confusing after a while. I do like the ending, I was pretty satisfied with where everyone ended up, which has been a long time since I’ve been this satisfied.
Welcome to Samdal-ri (2023-2024, Kwon Hye-joo)
Main leads: Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hye-sun
Country: S. Korea
Run: Dec 2, 2023 ti Jan 21, 2024 (JTBC, Saturday and Sunday 22:30 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 70 min
Thoughts: This was cute and was far above my expectations. I am always uneasy with Ji Chang Wook, I can’t forgive him for the Melting My Heart drama a few years back, but I would do anything for Shin Hye-sun. So I gave this drama a go, and I liked it. I loved the vibes, and I didn’t mind that revenge wasn’t the main plot. It's like the one line “my enemies will take themselves out before you get a chance to swing.” It was heartwarming and I’m glad that Cho Sam-dal was able to find peace in her hometown. I loved the feel of community. I loved all the Friendships. It was very lovely. And I’m happy at the ending. I will also give my entire heart to Cho Hae-dal and Cha Ha-yul. I loved their mother-daughter relationship. I wanted more screen time for both. Rating: I’m glad there is a little piece of heaven…
Game of Witches ( 2022-2023, Lee Do-Hyun)
Main leads: Jang Seo-Hee, Kim Kyu-Seon, Lee Hyun-Seok, Oh Chang-Suk. Han Ji-Wan, Ban Hyo-Jung
Country: S. Korea
Run: Oct 11, 2022 to April 14, 2023 (MBC, Monday to Friday 19:15 (KST))
Episodes: 119, 25 to 28 min
Thoughts: *Major Spoilers+ Rant ahead.* This show makes me unneccsarly angery. It is a daily drama and a Makjang to boot, so literally put any and all expectations in the gutter. Everything is nonsensical, and drawn out to reach the 119 mark. Storylines get dropped or move way too fast. It has a strange family tree and for a moment every single person was supposbly related. They have so much evidence agsaint the scheming Kang Ji-ho (Oh Chang-suk) and Joo Se-young (Han Ji-wan) but it goes nowhere. Speaking of Kang Ji-ho, he was just straight up dispicable. I would say more than Se-ypung of Ma Hyun-Deok (Ban Hyo-Jung). He was a terrible partner and father from the start. He literally tossed his entire family out the door for Se-young and eventual power. He only paid attention to his daughter Kang Han-Byeol (Kwon Dan-A) when she was able to benefit him. He was at best neglectful and at worst abusive towards her. Han-byeol was the true victim. Hye-soo (Kim Kyu-Seon) actually had a motive in the beginning. She was just pathetic and weak but once she returned they weirdly sidelined her. Also I don’t know why Kang Ji-ho never got prosecuted for trying to kill Hye-soo. Like I find that to be one of his more egregious crimes. Like that is the mother of your child. You gave your child so much trauma, for what? Power? Like when they tried to redeem him at the end I was just fed up. You can’t make hime out to be the big bad guy for 118 episodes, and then have him do one good thing. He is a bad father, and when Han Byeol grows up she will resent him. Rating: Fuck this show, like actually.
My Dearest Part 2(2023, Hwang Jin-young)
Main leads: Namkoong Min, Ahn Eun-jin, Lee Hak-joo, Lee Da-in, Kim Yoon-woo, Lee Chung-ah
Country: S. Korea
Run: Oct 13 to Nov 18, 2023 (MBC TV, Friday and Saturday 21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 11, 60 to 90 min
Thoughts: More devastating than the first part. Gil-chae is probably my favorite character I have watched. Her journey in this part is absolutely devastating but she survives. I enjoyed the refutement from blame, that people who experienced the worst horrors known are somehow blamed. Gil Chae pushes back on this sentiment herself. This entire time I just wanted Jang-hyun and Gil Chea together. Which took the entire part for them to finally be happy. I do think the ending was kind of wobbly, and they only really needed 10 episodes not the 11. But who am I to say? Anyways I enjoyed the show overall. Rating: My Dear Husband…
Kokdu: Season of Diety (2023, Kang Yi-heon, Heo Jun-woo)
Main leads: Kim Jung-hyun, Im Soo-hyang, Kim Da-som, Ahn Woo-yeon, Kim In-kwon, Cha Chung-hwa
Country: S. Korea
Run: Jan 27 to March 24, 2023 (MBC TV Fridays and Saturdays @21:50 (KST))
Episodes: 16, 70 min
Thoughts: You must be wondering why did you watch this? It only has bad reviews- which is a lie, it is actually a polarizing show. And I can understand. If you go into this show with the lowest expectations imaginable and it might be fun. The scenery is pretty and they make decent use of it. Main Romance is actually not good, I felt no chemistry between Kim Jung-Hyun and Im Soo-hyang. I did like the romance between Tae Jeong-won (Kim Da-som) and Han Cheol (Ahn Woo-yeon) other than that The show overall fell flat. I did like the scenery and the setting. I thought it was fun. Also episode 16 was the most enjoyable episode, which is good for an ending. Rating: I would skip…
I am currently watching:

Writer Ask Game: 20 & 25
[ask game: send me a number and i'll share an excerpt of my writing.]
Oooh, it's hard to format this one for tumblr, but for 20 (scrapped project), I present to you the beginnings of what was going to be an mdzs farce, which I was writing as if it were a playscript.
Act One SCENE: The Jingshi, Hanguang-jun’s elegantly rustic private residence tucked in a secluded bamboo forest deep within the Cloud Recesses. The interior is sparse but subtly opulent, furnished with lacquered ebony wood furniture and partitioned by pale cyan curtains woven with shimmering strips of glass as thin as cicada wings. Gauzy smoke spills from a conspicuously garish, lotus-patterned cloisonné censer, draping the space in creamy, balsamic sandalwood incense. AT RISE: It is mid-morning on a balmy day in early summer. Center Stage, LAN WANGJI perches with a crane’s grace at a simple but exquisitely crafted low table, atop of which rests HIS beloved guqin, WANGJI. Although stained to match the rest, the low table is the only piece in the room made of paulownia instead of ebony. LAN WANGJI’S eyes are closed in meditative contemplation, and his hands are tucked into his sleeves.
Across from LAN WANGJI, separated from HIM by a sunken hearth, sprawls WEI WUXIAN, naked but for the outer robe draped loosely over HIS shoulders. The mat beneath WEI WUXIAN is littered with crumpled talismans, splattered ink, and discarded melon seed shells. WEI WUXIAN pinches an ink brush between HIS thumb and forefinger over a blank talisman with knitted brows.
“Aiya!” Wei Wuxian snapped, tossing his ink brush aside and scrubbing his face. “You’ve done it now, Lan-er-gege,” he accused, glaring at Lan Wangji from between his fingers.
Lan Wangji opened his eyes and raised his eyebrows quizzically.
Wei Wuxian dropped his hands, crumpled to the ground, and wailed, “Lan-er-gege finally fucked my brains out! I’ve nothing left! I’m a shell of a wife!”
for 25, I suppose my favorite project is my current soukoku wip! more by default; I like what I've written before, but it's hard to call anything my favorite.
“—on, you piece of shit, wake up. Dazai. Dazai! Mackerel!”
Dazai’s mouth twitched. His eyes burned as his lashes fluttered open. He squinted up at his ceiling while emitting a sound not unlike an asthmatic weasel.
Chuuya was suspended upside down from Dazai’s ceiling, his arms crossed, and his hat perched at a pretentious tilt on his head.
It was such an unwholesome sight, Dazai blearily lumbered to his feet, reached up, and touched Chuuya without any further consideration. No Longer Human hummed beneath his skin, and then licked at their point of contact. All at once, Chuuya was rendered slave to the Earth’s own magnetism, the same as the rest of them, and Dazai felt smug for a moment.
But only for a moment, because then Chuuya tumbled down, colliding into Dazai like a particularly ornery, stubborn, foul-mouthed boulder under which Dazai crumbled with a pained groan.
“Idiot,” Chuuya spat, digging his elbows into Dazai’s ribs and diaphragm to sit up and glare down at Dazai. “What the fuck did you think would happen?”
Nauseating aches blossomed from where the points of Chuuya’s elbows tenderized Dazai’s innards, and, as he waited for the vertigo from his impact with the ground to subside, Dazai marveled over his own miscalculation. But then the excitement ebbed, Dazai’s exhaustion settled into its waking baseline, and he noticed Chuuya’s ruffled indignation, his hat knocked from his head, his askew harness. Chuuya looked just like a bedraggled small dog, and although sharp boned, he was also familiarly warm where his body draped over Dazai’s.
A laugh bubbled from Dazai’s battered chest. “How else am I to swat a slug from my ceiling?”
Chuuya’s expression lit with his temper. “Who’re you callin’ a slug—?!”
Dazai became so delighted by Chuuya’s likeness to a snarling Japanese Spitz, that he forgot he existed entirely to machinate Chuuya’s humiliation, and he reached out to brush a loose lock of Chuuya’s hair behind his ear.
Chuuya snatched his wrist before he could.
“Cad,” Chuuya sneered.
Dazai wheezed another laugh. “You sound like Kunikida-kun,” he mused.
Then he froze, because maybe Kunikida sounded like Chuuya.
“Oh,” said Dazai. “That’s. Horrible.”

Dan the Miner. Lucky Strike Club, Fremont St, 1954.
The two 12-foot prospector figures were built for the sign of the Lucky Strike Club. The figure was designed and molded by wax artist Katherine Stubergh - “The Madame Tussaud of America” - and built by YESCO in their Salt Lake City factory in 1954. When the sign was on the figures would move the their pans filled with lighted “gold” from side to side. YESCO copyrighted the figure. In the copyright the character was given a name: Dan, the miner.
Milton Prell & partner’s Lucky Strike Club opened Jun. ‘54 and remained open for nine years. When Lucky Strike Club was dismantled the two figures were relocated to the front of Gold Strike Inn, Boulder City, as the centerpiece of a roadside theme park. There they remained in Boulder City for 35 years.
The figures were moved again in ‘98 to the parking lot of former Terrible’s Hotel & Casino in Jean.
In 2024 during the demolition of Terrible’s, the two figures were relocated to Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, one on display, the other in storage.

𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐰𝐞𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐡𝐮𝐢

Warnings: None. not proofread :)
ever since you met wen junhui, you've never seen him like this before. when he asked you to be his tutor because he's failing in chemistry, he was so full of himself, the typical popular playboy in you school. you don't even know if he really listens to whatever you're saying since he's just staring at you as if he's mocking the way you speak. but things feel different these days, he seems more focused on learning, when your hands graze each other he would flinch, when you try to talk to him, he wouldnt answer you with his smartass comebacks. its like youre seeing a possessed wen junhui.
"what's up with you?" you asked, in the middle of teaching him, he stopped taking down notes as he looked at you and nervously laughed.
"what do you mean?"
"you seem so different."
he brushed his hair as he started writing once again,
"i dyed my hair black. that's why.|"
you just looked at him suspiciously, and as he can feel your eyes on him, he looked back at you with a slight smirk on his face.
"you're weird, junhui."
"no. you are."
you sighed as you pulled the notebook away from him. this is getting frustrating, everytime you try to talk to him, he would shut you down and ignore you until its the end of your session.
"did i do something wrong?"
"what? no."
"then why are you avoiding me?"
jun chuckled as he scratched the back of his neck.
" i wouldnt be here im avoiding you,"
as he snatched his notebook back.
you let out a frustrated sigh as you moved your sit near his.
"you either tell me why or -"
"or what? you're weird these days, why do you keep on asking me that." he cut you off.
"you wont even look at me, jun."
"so what? its not like you should care?"
you shook your head as you started packing your books back to your bag.
"where are you going? our time's not done yet." jun said as he tried to stop you from packing your things.
"i'm telling our prof youre not cooperating with me, so, ill just stop tutoring you."
"wait, hold on. okay, hold on!" junhui exclaimed as he takes your books out of your back.
you looked at him tiredly, tears suddenly brimming in your eyes from frustrations.
"what now?! one second youre ignoring me then youre begging me to stay, what do you from me, jun?!"
he looked down, his ears are flushed red, palms are sweaty as his legs can't stay still.
"why cant you answer? what do you want from me?! why are you avoiding me?!"
"i-i want, i want-" you were shocked when jun looked at you with his eyes teary, as if he's trying so hard not cry.
"what? what do you want?!"
"you! i want you, okay?! i'm avoiding you because everytime you look at me, my knees wobble, every touch makes me weak, everything about you suddenly makes my heart skip a beat! i'm avoiding you because i'm inlove with you! i'm so inlove with you that i know you dont like me that way that i'm happy to just see you and hear you! i'm avoiding you because i'm stopping myself from falling deeper into you!" he was breating heavy, as if a boulder of hidden emotions was lifted of his heart, he looks at you with tears in his eyes, full of love and frustration.
just like a snap of a hand, you bursted in tears as you hit his chest.
"how can you say that?! how dare you tell me that i dont feel the same about you? you dont have the right to dictate about my feelings, you jerk!"
"i love you too wen junhui, goddamnit!"

there's a lot to love about it. and of course the BL is excellent. but the very peak of TGCF (to me, at this moment), is the move that beat Jun Wu. Shattering bounders upon ones chest. the move from the street performer that injured himself when he tried to replicate Xie Lian's godly skills. but that same street performer, the only one in the temple who stood up for him, who chose not to stab him, who chose not to take a life to save his own, and fled the temple to prevent the disease from spreading further.
shattering boulders on one's own chest, the move which finished Jun Wu, that he called beautiful, :chefskiss:
as well as the fact of Xie Lian laying the bamboo hat on him, the way the hat was laid upon him when he was at his lowest point.
Hua Cheng might be gege's most devoted believer, but he was not the only one...

CTS B | Week 2 Connecting Theory and Practice
Today's class activities took me on a journey of self-reflection and discovery. The theory of my daily activities would be revolved around a strong work ethic. I tend to involve myself in multiple activities that require a lot of energy and attention. My practice of daily activities include working on my business and school work. I also learnt to identify internal and external factors that make up my identity. Some examples of internal factors would be my love for content creation and entrepreneurship, while external factors would be that I am a 20 year old Singaporean male.
I enjoyed the class activity of sketching a self-portrait depicting my identity as a designer. I foresee myself going for bouldering sessions to keep fit, designing for food & beverage brands, working on my business and traveling frequently to different countries. Thus, I imagine myself as an octopus with many "arms" to balance the different tasks.
There was also an activity where we had to collate the different aspects of our identity and draw relations through a digital collage / Venn diagram. I decided to represent the aspects through illustrations as illustration is part of my identity, with it being my most comfortable way to express my thoughts.
Something I would have done differently when approaching the activities would be further questioning why I have developed these traits. I believe that by doing so, I would be able to better understand what influenced me and potentially discover other traits that are not too prominent in how I express myself.
Through these activities, I have learnt that I am a goal-driven creative with a strong personality on pursuing things I feel deeply passionate for.
