Jungjae hummed in delight as he tasted the stew you’d just finished making. You had been testing out different recipes for the family dinner you had decided to host in a few weeks and he had been on the receiving end of said dishes.

“Yay or nay,” you asked, a hum could mean anything at this point.

So far there had only been one dish he had flat out rejected although you were certain that number should be higher and he was just being nice.

“It’s good,” he complimented. “Not sure if it would suit everyone’s pallets though.”

You nodded. You had already figured that much whilst you were making it but weren’t entirely sure if it was just your mind overthinking everything.

He looked up noticing your silence. For the first time that week he took in your current, ‘just-finished-cooking,’ appearance. In the time he’d known you, he’d never seen you wear an apron whilst cooking, simply just taking extra care to not get your clothes stained. But today, and presumably the entire week, you’d been wearing one. And not just any old apron, one that he had jokingly gifted you earlier in the year saying you should wear it one day with nothing else to make breakfast. You’d both had a good laugh before it was ultimately forgotten.

“I should get one,” he said absentmindedly, earning a look of confusion from you. “An apron, then I could surprise you too.”

You scoffed, “You can’t cook to save your life,” not that you were any better. “With your luck, you’d probably set it on fire while wearing it because you got too close to the stove.”

“I’ll stick to being the taste tester.”
