A bit of a continuation of this week's six sentence Sunday...

June couldn't get what she had witnessed, especially what she had overheard, off of her mind. 

She had always known that Mary and Philip weren't the world's most perfect leaders, but to have that confirmed in such a concrete way (even if they hadn't explicitly said everything they were planning)... Well, it called into question everything June had believed about her chosen faction, not to mention the conundrum of whether she even wanted it to be her faction anymore or not. 

She went about her day in a blur, all the data she had to analyze not even remotely distracting her from what had transpired the night before- more specifically, what she was going to do about it. 

She couldn't bring this up to anyone within her faction. That much was clear. After all, they would only tell Mary and Philip, along with the rest of the council, and then where would June be? She would probably be locked up somewhere, unable to do any good for the faction she had chosen and the city she loved. Her mom, too, had proven to be a dead end, which frustrated June to no end. How could Ellen Claremont call herself a faction leader- and in this case, the leader of the city- and not want to investigate the potential corruption within the system?

It's hard not to think about that night, especially when June is sitting on the couch with her feet propped up onto Nora’s lap. She’s gently rubbing at the soles of June’s feet with her thumbs, glancing every few minutes from the TV to her face.  Nora can't help but admire June; now changed out of her work clothes and  wearing a white tank top and shorts she stole from Nora. Her wavy hair is pinned back with a butterfly claw clip she only ever wears in the comfort of their home. June bites her lip in concentration as she focuses on her writing. Nora doesn’t realize she’s stopped rubbing June’s feet until she looks up at her with a playful glare. “Don’t stop, my feet are killing me.” June groans. “Flats are terrible for your feet, how many times do I have to tell you that?” Nora clips back, letting a smile spread across her lips when June rolls her eyes in response. “Or do you just need an excuse for me to take care of you?” Nora lets the last part slip, not necessarily regretting it but still remaining cautious of the reaction it pulls out of June. But to her surprise, there is none. June goes back to typing away on her laptop and nudges her foot back into Nora’s hand.

So, there's two that I'm most excited about right now!

This one I'm writing on every day and I lie awake at night thinking about them. I've got this entire story mapped out, the first chapter is done. I plan on writing about 4 chapters and oh my god, I'm having the most fun working it all out. I came up with this story while doing the dishes and listening to San Francisco by Niall Horan and now I'm absolutely fucking obsessed. They're soulmates, they fall in love at first sight, followed by heartbreak and suffering, but there will always be a happy ending. Hopefully it'll be done soon!

“Kiss me,” he blurts out. He has to suck his cheeks between his molars and bite down hard to stop himself from cringing, because it really does sound insane, but he suddenly wants nothing more than for Alex to kiss him. He’s in a foreign country, in a place where he has all the privacy in the world. He’s alone, in the dark, under the stars, with a man so attractive it makes his skin prickle and he wants to be kissed. He wants to be swept off his feet. For once, Henry just wants to be something to someone.

This one here? This is my baby. FirstMarine will forever be my baby and this is the story in which I give Luke the happily ever after he deserves, even though he had to go through a lot of shit to get there. I've almost finished writing chapter 3, so this one is coming along nicely, but it's a bit of a slow burn, so it might take a while to finish it. Eeeee I could talk about this all day, haha! ♥

Luke ends up coming over almost every day, and if he’s not nestled under a blanket in Alex’s window seat with a book or his laptop and with Buddy at his feet, he’s texting Alex book recommendations or memes he finds funny. Alex has also discovered that Luke prefers tea over coffee, which means that he now owns a box full of various types of tea, sitting right beside his own coffee collection in the cupboard above the sink. Alex likes it; the fact that he’s not alone all the time anymore. He did make that choice consciously when he moved back to Austin - to concentrate on work and his own mental health for a while - but he hadn’t realized how much he missed having someone to share his brain worms with. He also likes Luke’s laugh when he says something especially silly. He doesn’t know why, but it feels like a unique thing to witness; like Luke doesn’t laugh like that all that often. He feels privileged to be exposed to it and he won’t admit it out loud, but it’s definitely the reason why he sometimes says silly things on purpose.

I am also incredibly exited about kinktober this year! I've got 3 stories finished, 2 halfway there and 9 more outlined, so it's gonna be hella good!

Snippet from #18: Thigh riding:

“You’re not wearing underwear,” Nora pants against June’s lips, a statement that makes her stomach flutter and her pussy throb. “You’re in my office, rubbing up on me, and you’re not wearing underwear.” June giggles and breaks the kiss, before hiding her face in the crook of Nora’s neck. “You’re very observant today.” Nora growls and turns her head to sink her teeth into June’s earlobe, just beneath the gold of her earring. “Don’t get cheeky with me,” she warns, slipping a hand up the back of June’s skirt to cup one of her perfectly round, warm cheeks. “I think,” June murmurs, kissing up Nora’s neck, “that being cheeky is going to get me exactly what I want, right now.”

“You like the shop, right?”

“Yeah…” Alex said slowly. 

“Enough to take over like Mom wants us to?”

“I- I think so?” 

Nora groaned. “You think so? Alex, they've only been grooming us to take over our entire lives. How are you not sure?” Then her eyes widened in realization. “Henry. That's what this is about.”

“Wait, what?” June asked, feeling out of the loop, a thing that didn't happen much, given how close the three of them were. “What does Henry have to do with anything?”

Nora waited, but as June looked over, she saw such a familiar look on her girlfriend’s (was it too soon to use that label?) face, one she had seen a million times before. Something was going on here, something Nora had known had a high probability of happening, and June had no idea what it was.

They walked in silence, June stopping at the entrance to the park. “Okay, I know I said I wanted to go to the park, but I can’t wait anymore.”

“For what?”

“To do this.”

Then suddenly, June’s lips were on hers, and it felt as if Nora was on fire. 

She wrapped her arms around June and pulled her closer, savoring the feeling of her lips against hers, the way June let out a soft sigh when Nora pulled away, suddenly coming to her senses.

June couldn't believe this day was finally here!

She had been longing for graduation since she had first entered the supposedly hallowed halls of her high school. From the very beginning, she had felt like she didn’t belong. Sure, she had friends, but no one quite understood her like Alex and Nora.

Nora. Butterflies started fluttering as she thought about the date they had planned for that night. They were going out for ice cream to celebrate graduation after she had dinner with her family.

No. It couldn't be. She had assessed all of her options, made sure that her responses were the best possible ones. How could she have failed? 

“You'll have to take the remedial course for this next year, or choose another major. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you simply can't continue this program without the skills acquired here.”

Remedial course? How could she possibly take a remedial course? Her father… he would consider her a disgrace for this, not worthy of the family name. Maybe it was a good thing she had followed June's advice and gone over to Dauntless when she had found out she was Divergent. Her entire family would never forgive her for this.

Another little high school AU snippet, completely unbetaed as of right now...

“A rubber ducky?” Nora asked skeptically, picking it up. She felt like she was a kid with a coloring book, circling the object that didn't belong with a crayon. “What in the world is this thing doing here?”

June took it from her, smiling fondly. “Someone must have brought their kids here after school one day. Maybe they were playing hide and seek or something and it got left behind in the excitement of the kid being found.”

Nora stared at her in awe. It was moments like this that made her realize just how good of a storyteller June was going to be one day. Nora definitely couldn't come up with a whole plot like that from just a rubber ducky. It only solidified what she already knew, that they were two very different people who had been drawn together. What would happen if the connection between them fell apart?

No. She had come here to try to make things work because she was miserable, not change her mind and stay melancholy for the rest of her life. She needed to focus on that more than anything that could make this conversation go south.

June set the duck back where she had found it and opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, Nora blurted out, “I think we need to try to make this work. There must be something we can do to make sure the shop could survive if we were to break up. Not that I think we will,” she added hastily, not wanting June's thoughts to go that direction. “I just want to make sure we take care of something that will one day be ours.”

I meant to publish this chapter today, and then life happened... So here's my apology: another little high school AU snippet!

June was unable to resist throwing her arms around her. “You look beautiful,” she whispered in her ear. They hadn’t talked about how much PDA they would be using, and given that she didn’t know if Nora even wanted to be out, given that they hadn’t even talked about that yet, she thought it was best to play it safe.

Apparently, though, Nora had other plans. When she started to pull away, before she could get too far, Nora closed what remained of the gap between them, kissing her on the cheek. “How’d it go today?” she asked as she backed away a step, brushing the back of her hand with her fingertips.

Nora. If June was upset after a date, Nora probably was too, and all he wanted was for the two of them to be as happy as he and Henry were. He got out his phone and started typing, unable to find adequate words to say at first:

Are you all right?

What happened?

Can I do anything to help?

I swear, you might be my best friend, but if you've hurt my sister, I'll-

He deleted that last one and just looked at his phone for a minute, at a loss. If he was resorting to saying things like that, clearly he needed to take a step back. He was known for acting and speaking without thinking first sometimes, but this was one of those times that he definitely didn't want to make the situation worse. 

Finally, he settled on a combination of two of the texts he had typed out: What happened? What can I do to help?.

i have received so many lovely comments on i became your device to name and soothe and i just want to tell y’all how unbelievably grateful i am for those of you who have read and enjoyed it :,) !! i’m having so much fun writing this fic, so i’ll be sharing a little sneak peek of chapter 2 ! (and some new Junora fanart from me 😉)

It’s hard to not think about that night, especially when June has gone on pretending as if it had never happened. It makes Nora’s both equal parts frustrated and relieved. Things haven’t been awkward per se, but the energy between them is noticeably different. She’s just waiting for June to call the shots, no matter how badly she wants to reach over and kiss her face again. To have her hands on every single inch of June’s body. And to tell her how good she is.

The prospect of their friendship being ruined if Nora makes the first move is eerily high. So she waits. She waits during the nights they accidentally sleep together in the same bed or on the couch. She waits when June walks through the door, visibly upset and tense after work. She waits and waits and fucking waits. And for once she doesn’t know the probability of June even making the first move.

Waiting is the last thing Nora does, and right now it’s just making her realize how abnormal it feels to be still. Always running headfirst into the things she wants shamelessly—it’s the only reason Nora has gotten so far into her career in analytics. But when she looks at June, she feels the intrinsic need to be tender and forgiving; qualities Nora had never found herself undertaking until two short months of living with June. Nora figures patience is another virtue she has to learn, and for June she’ll do anything.

June feels the pressure of nimble fingers kneading into the sore spots on her shoulders and a soft sigh escapes her lips. Nora’s thumbs dig into the nap of June’s neck and she lets her head fall forward, gathering her long hair to the side to allow Nora more access.

“I’m sorry you had a rough day, June.” she says delicately, the cadence of her voice sending an involuntary shiver down June’s spine.

Soon, the ache in her neck becomes more bearable and she’s able to turn her head in the way her body wouldn’t let before. But June still feels a tension, though it’s different from what she felt before Nora worked her hands over her neck and back—a churn in her stomach that June has felt one too many times in the presence of her roommate.

June takes in a deep breath through her nose.

“Does that feel better?”

June hums in lieu of a response, her back still turned to Nora. Her hands never leave their place on June’s back, staying meticulously still as if they're trying to detect something under the surface of June’s ribs. She tries not to squirm under her touch, scared that Nora might be able to read right through her calm exterior.

There’s a part of June that needed to figure out how to even tell Nora, too. After all, she’s smack-dab in the middle of Dauntless initiation. June was sure she was being watched like a hawk, her every movement scrutinized by the leaders around her- and from what June’s heard, likely other initiates too. How could she get to Nora without raising any suspicions?

Then she remembered what the next day was, and she knew she had her answer. Now she just needed to make a plan…
