victoria's death made me... so sad? it was so abrupt and anticlimactic that i actually skipped back to watch it again because i could not believe that was it??? we didn't even get a lingering look of horror as she realized what was about to happen? what...

i feel like her relationships with stan and homelander and hughie were so underexplored (literally the only reason this close friendship between her and hughie played well at all is because the actors have excellent chemistry, there wasn't much groundwork in the writing itself). and i would have loved to see more of her and zoe, too. incredibly compelling backstory and dynamics all played by a very charismatic actor but i wish she had been fleshed out more, particularly in lieu of multiple members of the boys essentially just repeating arcs from prior seasons and gobbling up already-limited screentime. (write something original or relegate them to background roles, i don't care!!!)

anyway, very very very upset that this is how it ends for her. i wish her death had packed more of an emotional punch because the material was certainly there. there was so little opportunity for her death or the tragedy of her life to sink in. it sucked! (zoe ending up at red river was a good inclusion, though)

it is also not lost on me that this finale killed off two women -- mallory and victoria -- solely to mark two male characters' turns to darkness. i'm not against this in principle but this show has an annoying habit of killing off female characters in pretty poor taste, i think. these did not feel like worthy conclusions to their own arcs.

mallory's death could have worked if not for the lack of meaningful interaction between her and ryan last season. it makes a lot of sense that ryan restored purpose in her life after the death of her grandchildren! why didn't we get any hints of that in s3 though🤔 and why was she so bad at delivering this news to ryan when she already manipulated butcher with the same subject matter very tactfully and effectively??? not thrilled that this is how a first-season character goes out.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

I think a lot of folks forget that one of Superman’s main weaknesses utilized in comics is magic. He’s invulnerable and all towards regular people but a magic imbued punch to the face is going to clock him hard in the jaw and leave a bruise afterwards.

Now with that, do we consider Danny a magical entity? If so, how much damage could he realistically do to Superman.

This also means that Danny can give Supes a proper hug because his sense of touch must be absolutely bonkers considering his skin has the tensile strength of a planet.

Imagine, Clark accidentally runs into Danny while heading to the Daily Planet, causing his work bag to open and a handful of papers to fly everywhere. He initially doesn’t notice in his scramble to pick everything up before it blows away. When Danny hands some papers to Clark (apologizing profusely the entire time), Clark realizes that he can feel Danny’s hand. Like feel feel. Either this guy is a super powerful metahuman, an extra dimensional entity, a magic user/magical being, or an alien.

Clark X-Ray visions’ Danny’s wallet to see his work ID and drivers license and commits the information to memory. Just in case it’ll be important information for later. He accepts Danny’s many apologies, laughs it off, denies the kids offer of buying him coffee as a repayment, and speeds off to work.

The Danny is probably just a guy trying to live his life. There’s thousands of metas who want nothing to do with superheroism and use their abilities in their job, just want to continue on with their day to day, or never use their powers. Clark does his best to not assume. Still, the memory of Danny’s workplace rattles around in his mind. He might try to “accidentally” bump into the guy again and try to learn more about him.

That shiny duo post made me think. Pearl always carries the weight of her win and what people think of her. She'll always be scary and crazy and vicious to others, even if she doesn't want to be, even if she was never like that in the first place

And you have Gem. Her first episode in the entire series was titled 'I have a reputation' and she spent the entire season being feared as a fighter and treated as a leader. She never asked to be the leader of an army of death. It's all too much

But Gem learned to lean into these expectations. She threatens people all the time, she has honestly weird views on alliances and control (when she said Scott had to control Pearl because they were teammates??). And she wants to see Pearl do the same. Pearl is supposed to be scary, why isn't she killing anyone? That's not how you survive in this series. If you're red, you have to kill. If there's expectations for you, you have to meet them. That's how you survive.

Gem won't let go of Secret Life because that's what taught her to be like she's expected to be. She has a reputation. Everyone's doing the same, right?

And she expected Pearl to be loyal to her. Why would she betray Gem? That's not fair. That's not the game she learned to play

Gem knows what Pearl should be. Pearl has a reputation. And Pearl can never let go of Double Life for as long as people think Scarlet Pearl is the real her
