been thinking a lot about punk!arthur…

whether that’s human au or not…i think a canon au would almost be more interesting…

arthur turning to punk in the 70s…what values would he ascribe to it? ik no one agrees with how nations relate to their governments (whether they’re complicit, or if they’re even consulted, comes to mind especially), but how would this arthur feel about the queen? would he subscribe to the same punk that the Sex Pistols subscribed to? all shock and no actual value? smiling and having tea w his queen in the day and going out at night in homemade crust pants (which. ok. i think he could genuinely pull off the homemade look. he’d for sure MAKE his clothes and patches and stuff)?

i love the look of punk!arthur & punk (generally) is v superficial in its politics (all rage and shock but no actual solid politics outside of explicitly political bands) (anyone that says you can’t be conservative and punk knows nothing about the history of punk as a subculture) so he’d fit right in, i think. having political patches that he knows the meaning of and vaguely hypothetically agrees with…saying punch nazi’s and meaning it but the important part to him isn’t in being a safe person for Jewish people to talk to, but in violently picking fights in public.

(does that make sense? the same sentiment that’s behind “rb to make a terf mad” and not “rb to make a trans person feel safe. feel loved.” the importance isn’t placed in the marginalized group. the importance is in the violence and hatred that’s socially acceptable to flaunt. anyway,)

would he feel himself hypocritical? bc for all i say that punk is generally un-political, there is SOME politics that are agreed upon generally—at least, if you’re not a skinhead. and the british monarchy Being Bad is one of those things. would he clench his teeth hearing people say fuck the queen?

or would he 100% be fully on board. genuinely believing every moment of anti imperialism, of protest, of anger. and then a decade later he’d take out his piercings and cut his hair properly and shove his crust pants and battle jackets in the back of some closet, wipe his hands and go back to his government job. which is worse, do we think?

It seemed Bloodmoon's thrist for blood was more ingrained into their base code than KC had originally thought, this would prove to be quite a challenge to undo, just as engrained as his Kill code was, it appeared their drive ran just as deep, an apple doesn't fall far from the tree after all.

But, that wouldn't stop him, maybe he could still find a solution, if not a true removal, he could tone it down, less a necessity and more something to be controlled and supressed. Alas, that was rather hypocritifal thinking on his part, for KC hadn't truly given up killing, he could only restrain his own code so much. He had been slaining, though he swore to make sure he was only targeting individuals who truly deserved it.

KC couldn't help but see so much of himself in the twins, that thinking led him to believing, maybe, they'd be willing to follow his footsteps, killing those who lurk in the shadows he once called home.

Eddie wasn't happy. He sits at the head of the Hellfire table watching Dean Jackson flirting with you.

The rest of Hellfire exchange worried looks as Eddie continues to grow more irate by the second.

Mike moves forward, maybe to ask a question or some shit, Eddie doesn't know. Doesn't get a chance to find out as he sends a death glare to Mike that has him rushing back to his seat.

"Why don't you just go over if you're so bothered?" Mike whines and Eddie grins in an almost maniacal way that sends worry into the hearts of the Hellfire members.

"You know you're absolutely right Wheeler" and with that he walks over to you and Dean intent on chaos and showing you the truth about this douchebag.

Dean is cute, a little boring but he's absolutely crucial to your current mission of getting over your major crush on Eddie.

Things were a no go where Eddie was concerned considering he spent most of his time mooning over cheerleaders.

The possibility of him ever noticing you was zero.

So it comes to your suprise when Eddie is suddenly at your side with a wide cheesy smile on his face.

Oh god he was going to go into one of his tangents wasn't he? Normally you adored them but you had a funny feeling Dean himself would be part of his ranting.

"What are you doing Eddie?" you whisper and Eddie turns to Dean, his big brown eyes flash with fury and a little bit of excitement. Shit... This wasn't going to end well was it?

"Dean, what a suprise. You know you were just the subject of a rather interesting conversation between Sally Ann and Violet. They came to me for some weed and were positively furious with you"

Confused you look to Eddie then to Dean who's going redder by the minute.

"That was nothing. Just a mix up you know" he shrugs of Eddie who raises his eyebrow in disbelief.

"You slept with the two of them in the same week and that was a mix up? After you began dating Sally Ann, sure dude. Whatever you say"

You gape as you turn around to Dean who is looking anywhere but you and pretty much hightails it out of the cafeteria.

"Dickhead" Eddie mutters and then his gaze turns to you and he looks betrayed and extremely pissed off. "Flirting with Dean really? He's a member of the dark side sweetheart. Jason's right hand man"

Eddie's words sink in and it lights a fury inside of you. He was one to talk when he spent half his time drooling over cheerleaders! They were popular, part of Jason's clique and he didn't mind looking at them or his attempts at flirting.

"You're such a hypocrite" you hiss at him and he has the gall to look offended, jaw tensing up and his body stiffens.

"How the fuck did you figure that one out huh? I guess it doesn't matter if Dean is a dickhead to you as long as he's hot right. We all remember your crush on Harrington"

Granted Steve was a cool dude now but back in his King Steve days? Running around wit Carol and Tommy, the dude was a prick.

You're crush on Steve back then pissed off Eddie and he wasn't even in love with you at that point, he just got grumpy Steve had your attention and not him.

Wow. You're shocked at how much of an asshole Eddie is being.

"You're always talking shit about conforming and society but you always drool over the cheerleaders, you never even glance at someone else, you are just as bad!" you exclaim heart hurting as the two of you fight.

Fuck, didn't he get it? You wanted Eddie but he was always so busy looking at cheerleaders that you felt hopeless, knew he could never look at you like that.

So yeah you flirted with Dean a little. Why would you waste your life pining over someone who obviously doesn't want you.

Who thought of you as just a friend.

Meanwhile your words piss Eddie off because yeah maybe he would look at cheerleaders every so often but they aren't who he wants.

The only girl he's ever wanted (as in fallen head over heels in love with) is you. He wants more than friendship, wants to hold your hand, kiss you, show you how much he adores you.

"What am I supposed to do then? Stare at you the whole time, like I want and pretend I'm not dying inside because you're not my girl, you just want to be friends?" Eddie snaps as his emotions, his longing for you boils to the surface.

He's tried to hide how in love with you he is for so long, suppressing every urge to tell you how he feels. It was inevitable that he would tell you someday.

You freeze as what Eddie said sinks in. He loves you... A feeling of euphoria overwhelms you, after all this time he's felt the same as you.

"I never said I just wanted to be friends! " you yell back. Eddie folds his arms across his chest trying not to get his hopes up at what you're saying, trying to protect himself if this goes south.

"Oh yeah? And I've never said I wanted a cheerleader!" he replies. I want you he yells in his head frustrated.

"Well, good!" you feel elated at this and the feelings of anger begin to fade away. There's a hopefulness building inside of you at the fact he loves you.

"Good! Why are we still yelling?" He's softened too, expression gentle as he looks at you.

You shrugs helplessly at his question.

"I don't know Eddie, at this moment I just want you to be kissing me" a blush creeps up his cheeks and he moves closer to you almost tripping over you in his haste to be near you.

That was Eddie fast, restless, always on the go, loud and dramatic... But god you loved him.

"I love you" You whisper in his ear and he grins at you scooping you up in his arms and twirling you around the room.

"I love you princess"

You're a little embarrassed that everyone must have seen this but when you look at the crowd in the cafeteria they are all gone except the Hellfire boys.

When did that happen? The whole place must have cleared out as you were fighting.

Dustins voice rings out in relief breaking the silence.

"About fucking time. Pay up Jeff" Eddie's eyes widen and he glares at the boys.

"Hey, you buttheads. You bet on us?" Dustin looks around for help from the others but they are suddenly quiet again.

"Alright everyone for themselves" he yells and the next second the boys are out of their seats and speeding past you in Eddie.

Overcome with giggles you sober up at the thunderous look on Eddie's face and kiss him gently. A blissful expression appears on his face and the storm was evaded. For now at least.

In dc au i kinda gave the black arms a new ability to mind control people and add them to the hive-mind as workers bent on serving Black Doom, kind like Starro from the comics

So when they invade earth, Black doom appears offers to help Shadow take over the world and Shadow’s like ‘neat’

Sonic tags along for the ride but Black Doom assimilates him into the hive-mind with mind control stuff without Shadow knowing, Shadow was doing something else at the time (looking for that damn fourth chaos emerald) and when he meets back up with Sonic he’s acting a lil… off

At this point Shadow would’ve been rethinking him and Black Doom’s partnership, so Doom would target Sonic so he could keep an eye on Shadow more discreetly, while also being someone that Shadow is more likely to give info to rather than a doom eye, then when Shadow is pretty much definitely gonna betray Doom, Sonic tries to steal the emeralds Shadow has from him

I just have this mental image if Sonic and Shadow leaving a room, Sonic behind Shadow just intensely staring at Shadow’s quills where he put the emeralds

Sonic is keeping up conversation while reaching for it but then Shadow without turning around grabs his arm

The whole hive-mind thing is unknown to Shadow, he just thinks that Sonic just wanted to grab the emeralds for Eggman, but if that was the case he would’ve stoken them himself and he wouldn’t have waited ages either, he’s getting red flags so Shadow restrains Sonic quickly with vines and locks him in the GUN vault, not before stealing his phone

So he's running through the base while going on Sonic's phone to see if this was part of a plot or something but then he sees just how many missed calls from the Doctor there were, there were over 50, there was no way Sonic missed them

So he calls Eggy and the guy is raging, ranting about how he'd been calling Sonic all day since the hedgehog had hung up on him earlier

That’s when he realises something is very, very wrong

Throughout this arc it becomes apparent just how many people are under black doom’s control, that there’s no one who Shadow can trust, but later when there’s a confrontation about it Black Doom points out that Shadow himself had done the whole mind control thingy using his pheromones in order to have free minions

"And who are you to judge me? You too have made use of my methods, using your plant pheromones to give yourself some extra canon fodder, i do the same, coincidences are funny are they not? Besides you and i both know they are only meat at the end of the day, we are simply putting them to more constructive use."

He placed a hand on Sonic's head, "and they have the honour of being part of the hive, and they serve their purpose to benefit us, and they are happy to do so, for they are free of all the sorrow, the pain, the anner and they are no longer alone, they are at peace. A productive existence, a better existence, would you not say?"

And Shadow… he can’t say that he’s wrong or else he’s a hypocrite

Then when Doom sicks Sonic on him it’s even more disturbing for Shadow to see Sonic like this, the blue hedgehog being oddly calm and ease during the fight, with a serene smile on his face, saying stuff like: "Join us Shadow, it's so nice and welcoming, you won't ever have to feel the pain again. Lord Doom will heal you of it, like he healed me :)"

Just creepy shit like that, it’s only offset by the many breaks in the mind control as it showcases how much effort black doom has to put in to keep someone like Sonic on leash

Shadow has to put Sonic under his control and try to override Doom's control, but he doesn't have to do much to help Sonic's will fight back

Like 2 mental nudges and then it breaks

Then Sonic is hit by the quiet, the quiet of being alone in his own head

After that whole debacle, Shadow fully connects to the green and murders Black Doom, gaining a third eye in the process

i thought this would be an easy to answer but figuring out how to put my feelings into words proved difficult .

the beginning is always a good place to start, so let's go with that. by chance, i happened upon this video on youtube and gave it a watch. about halfway in i decided i had to read notes from underground for myself. i struggled to understand what the narrator was trying to get across. the unique writing style, where the reader is addressed directly, as if in challenge, helped me preserve.

i think part of what makes his work special to me is his depiction of people. and they really do feel like people more than characters, even if some of their characteristics are unique to the era dostoevsky wrote in. everything else about them transcends time. i can see myself in some of them. whether it be the titular idiot, prince myshkin in his naivety; alyosha, who goes from devout to doubting; and ivan, whose bitterness toward religion masks his disappointment at the state of the world. 

that's why the brothers karamazov touched me in particular. for some context, i grew up in a christian household and was heavily involved in the church (american northeast white baptist strand of church). around when i was 11 or so, the introduction of left-wing politics through social media had me undergo a looooong identity crisis. these new ideas felt at odds with what i'd spent my entire life believing. what i grappled with the most relates to ivan's anecdote, the grand inquisitor, where the goodness of god is called into question. the bitterness, the disappointment from crushed expectations, all those sensations resonated strongly with me. reading it as an adult who (supposedly) 'healed' from that time period in my life was like opening pandora's box. i'd never seen my thoughts and struggles so accurately described, or treated with more than a 'his ways are higher than our ways' type platitude. i stuffed these concerns of mine away because they only ever served to make me feel worse.

i won't delve deep into the Depressing Lore. the only reason i mention it is to stress how profound an impact the work had on me. throughout the remainder of TBK (and in most of dostoevsky's discography), the best and worst of humanity is shown. our hypocritical nature, capacity for evil; nothing is shied away from or made more palatable. and yet, throughout it all, our potential for good is shown too. whether it be in the little acts or monumental self-sacrifice. sometimes those acts are honored, or ‘worth it,’ sometimes they aren’t. it’s cheesy but whatever i’ll say it — choosing to love and serve others is my greatest joy. i don’t really need a definitive answer to those problems i struggled with. that’s the takeaway i’ve had from his work. it might not seem like a big deal, but not feeling guilty for having certain doubts or anxious over those doubts never fully being resolved was. very significant for me. and healing (for real this time). 

so that’s the sentimental perspective GJSDLKFJS from my writer’s perspective, i can only describe him as brilliant. his grasp on the human psyche is incredible. he can accurately describe so many emotions, worldviews, and give the context necessary for each one to feel organic and real. it’s vivid, too, in a way i can’t properly get across. everyone’s unfiltered and messy. characters contradict themselves in the same sentence. they’ll murmur, go off on tangents, tell stories, misquote the bible (or many other significant works), and just be overall disasters. aka how people actually are. 

the man’s also funny as hell. the protagonist from crime and punishment has a mental breakdown spanning multiple pages over a sock. yes, there’s context, but that’s still the gist of things. then there’s the issue of the hedgehog in the idiot. hedgehog drama. 

ultimately, his work is so very human. there’s commentary on issues that are prevalent to this day, multiple centuries later. the topics he touches on tend to align with what i care about most. whether i agree or disagree with what i’m reading, there’s always something i glean from it. something meaningful that sits with me long after i close the book. i’ll mull over it and bother people in my vicinity until they mull over it too. no one is safe. whether it be a co-worker or my dad who drives noticeably faster to reach our destination and be free of my many questions.

i could keep going but this ended up being long enough GJSKDF i hope at least something here makes sense?>?? i apologize for the incoherent ramblings. it's what the dude does to me.

Trigger Warning for abuse since I am going to be talking about it a lot.

My honest reaction to TSM anon's confessions/posts trying to justify J's treatment of N. (They're so ass)

Ok so uhh... Anyway I'll try to debunk some of the points:

First of all: yes the fuck she is abusive! Search the damn definition on Google or the dictionary, it's exactly what she's doing, like beat for beat.

Let's start with two examples: one from the manor and another from copper-9.

J kicking N in the manor flashback: for context N and V had literally just bumped into each other, made a spark and both were trying to clean up the mess they made, then comes in Ms. Tenth letter of the alphabet with a kick to N's face for like no fucking reason whatsoever.

J stepping on N's chest while he clearly struggles: In the pilot during the scene that introduces the Alphabet squad during J's introduction she has her foot on his chest while saying he's useless, terrible and if she could, she'd kill him herself and N is very clearly struggling to even breath.

Those two very clearly ARE abuse, the second one even has a tinge of verbal abuse!

Ok so TSM tried to justify both these actions by us not knowing the full context.

The context of the kick is that: there is none, that kick was completely unprovoked, so J had absolutely no reason for kicking N aside from him being in her way from the "move it moron" line, and she changes up her attitude completely at Tessa being there, her visor showing those hollow eyes that drones show when worried or scared.

But even if you say "oh but N was in J's way so she kicked him out" but she could have just, you know, MOVED A LITTLE BIT TO THE RIGHT?!?!? And also that does not excuse kicking a person in the face.

Context of the second scene is: THERE IS NONE, ONE AGAIN! The reason that scene exists is to show that A. J is abusive towards N, and B. J is a hypocrite! Let me explain, A is very self explanatory, stepping on someone's chest and verbally abusing them is very clearly well... Abuse and B is to show that even though she calls N useless, N has shown throughout the rest of the series he is a very competent fighter, arguably better than his fellow DDs and also that even though J was pretty much insulting N for being weak, she got killed by a Angsty bisexual 18-year-old with a pen and a Railgun made out of like, scrap.

I don't know how you can genuinely look at those scenes and go "J isn't an abuser" even though yes she fucking is.

Also I dead ass forgot that second post aside from the "why would Cyn put N in the squad if his abuser?" Part, which has a very simple explanation: it wasn't Cyn, it was Mr. Solver of the absolute fabric itself! It used Cyn as a host, Cyn wasn't in control, she prob has been dead for a long ass time.

The solver is sadistic and it likes fucking with the alphabet squad, take V as an example: it allowed V to keep her memories, just to make V's trauma even worse.

The solver thinks it's funny to traumatize people so why wouldn't it think putting a person in the same team as their abuser wouldn't be?

Anyways I've been typing this since 5:30 AM, and now it's 6:50 and I got school so I'll stop here, if you got anything else to add put it in the reblogs ig...

Final note: I haven't been abused myself (not that I remember) so I can't really fully grasp the concept, but still, J's treatment of N is like, the dictionary definition of Abuse, I'm very bad at understanding other people and their emotions and I'm not super great at analysing characters but this shit is so obviously abuse seeing TSM over here trying to say otherwise is giving me a brain aneurysm.

hi! im not able to send you dms but i really want to know what you think about hazbin. i downed the entire thing in a day out of morbid fascination of seeing how that artstyle animates, but the quality of the script and handling of the structure of the show are so dogshit that the show has been lodged in my mind. and my friends who i can rely upon for their thoughtful analysis are not people who would watch it.

Honestly you summed up most of my plights within the show already, its just dogshit all around flaming and whatnot and i cannot believe there's 30 years old who eat this slop up. i can forgive teenagers for liking it (i am very self-aware as someone who read fucking homestuck when i was 13) but i cannot forgive fully grown adults for thinking this show has any sort of nuanced or well-written story

i finished watching the show feeling less aggravated by the designs and visual dev of the whole thing (though obviously its still really bad), and instead more by how insultingly and exhilaratingly bad the writing was.

i could literally take out my blocknote review of the whole show starting from ep 1 to ep 8 but i want to spare my friends who dgaf about hearing about this show. so ill just try to resume concisely my thoughts using my notes as crutches

this will be a very long one and again to spare people of pain ill put it under a readmore

vivienne medrano does not care about the female characters in her own show. idk about helluvaboss and i honestly dont want to watch it unless someone watches it with me, but from what i hear hazbin hotel was supposed to be the show "focused on the girls" while helluva boss was supposed to "focus on theboys". you'll never guess what happens in this show. the main 2 girls, who are supposed to be protagonist, are completely flat characters, that are given the slightest margin of spotlight THE LAST TWO EPISODES OF THE SEASON, and no 8 episodes isnt a justification for the dogshit writing they have. vaggie is the "angry mean militaristic lesbian of color who also coddles her white girlfriend" and charlie is "goody two shoes who doesn't use her powers as literal PRINCESS OF HELL because it's 'too mean' and who is babied and is also written like a baby that doesnt know how to act besides being 'positive and whimsical'". they are literally a ship trope shipped together because idk.

most of the development in the show is handed onto the guys, obviously, as they get the most songs, most exposure to their backstories, and most interactions that are somewhat written less one-dimensionally than the girls. (not to say the guys aren't also walking ship tropes for fanfic purposes). like you can't spin this in a way that doesn't sound bad, the men just get more spotlight and that's a fucking fact. so much for "focus on the girls". fucking SIR PENTIOUS GETS A SONG AFTER HIS DEATH, GUYS

none of the angel vs hell lore makes any fucking lick of sense, and i dont mean to say it needs to be biblically adjacent, it just doesnt make fucking sense even in the "original" lore it is constructing. how is hell supposed to be a threat to heaven when hell denizens dont have access to heaven?? this question alone makes anyone question what the hell the exterminations really are for. also, like, i really fucking hate adam, he's literally the most annoyingly written villain, like he's not even funny in a trashy way. if you want to make your main villain a hypocrite who's also a massive misogynist and sexist, writing him like a frat bro makes sense if your story is set in a college campus. this is HEAVEN AND HELL. all of his lines are just stupid and senseless for the context this all takes place in (also like lute being essentially a tradwife for him is literally such a stupid choice, if you want to make a meaningful commentary about misogyny among women this isnt how it works)

all of the sin and pure shit and repenting deal is like... literally awful. for a show that prides itself on owning the bigots who think gay sex and doing drugs and doing crimes is all inherently evil, the writing really does not do itself a favor of subverting this real-world bigoted way of thinking. as unintentional as it might be it kind of just reinforces it when the character they decide to 'repent' is fucking angel dust, a literal sex worker stuck in a cycle of abuse with an abusive rapist pimp and who does drugs as a way to cope in his life. because obviously sex work (and bdsm) is inherently sinful and disgusting and the only way to repent is to give up disgusting gay sex and sinful drugs and just stick it to the abuser that has you literally by the leash! i dont think this was intentional but it comes off as hilariously stupid and straight up tactless. (also we don't talk about how the storyboarded for the song poison apparently also drew rape comics of angel dust and valentino before as a kink thing)

oh on the topic of valentino, i dont fucking get people liking him. he is literally shown to be abusive and a rapist. people will see a thin man who's not straight and hump his legs like their life depends on it. at least he isnt white but i'd actually say this makes everything worse because vivienne medrano LOVES making the characters in her show of ambiguous ethnicities/backgrounds and ends up making most of the awful ones, of color. again dont think this is INTENTIONALLY done but it still comes across as horrid nonetheless. whew!!!

also i hate alastor in all types ways sauces and forms. he exists to attract fangirls and rabid fans who love tumblr sexymen. other than his design being tremendously aggravating, he's literally just fucking useless, and i hate that the show tries to shoehorn in halfway that he's supposed to be a "dad figure" to charlie when he literally never has done anything dadlike for her in the whole show (and yes i watched the pilot, i still dont think this counts). the only saving grace for alastor is his voice acting. everything else needs to go. there is no saving this one

and, on the topic of alastor, i'm not the first one to point this out but something about him owning husk's soul (the one character being voiced by a black VA, who coincidentally also has a design that is conveniently ambiguous with him being a fucking. winged cat furry demon ig) has like some really bad vibes about it that i can't quite put my finger on. i'm not entirely qualified to like dissect the issues this whole show has with like... the way certain implied characters of color act within it (i say implied because vivziepop is allergic to giving the main characters of her shows actual dark skin colors that arent grey, except maybe some one-off side characters) but it was just so jarring i had to mention it

i also hate lucifer because again, made for purely fanfic ship tropes and rabid fans who are obsessed with 'pathetic sopping wet cat men' with that signular character trait. his persnality is: Depression and Dad. I literally hated every fucking moment in this show where he was in a scene and was treated as "just some guy". same with charlie. Like the lack of authority they have for a supposed KING AND PRINCESS OF HELL is just... i dont know? stupid?

conclusion is that i hate the show, i will however bee seeing season 2 just because at this point im in it for the long run, its just like, other than the visuals being awful; it was legitimately the least aggravating part for me (THIS DOESNT MEAN I LIKE THEM, I DONT, I HATE THEM TOO) but the whole writing is just... wow. i just don't understand how they got a24 to back this up. like you cant make this shit up this bad even if you tried. and im sure there's a trillion other things other people have more eloquently explained in how and which ways they are bad; these are just some of my thoughts.

my concluding statement is that i also feel really bad for people who do entire rewrites of this thing as 'fans'. i dont get it. like i get doing redesigns because it can be an exercise and because lets be real, like, everyones design is bad, hardly anything is salvageable or makes sense. but rewriting... guys please just make your own stories from scratch. at the cost of being told "omg this is just like hazbin hotel!" you have to persevere and just write your own shit. because doing the redesigns means unpacking heaps of 'lore' that doesnt make any whatsoever sense...

ok i keep seeing awfully targeted vagueposts about me pertaining to my silly idw-exclusionary prowlsweep campaign — which i didn't expect to have gained so much traction and negative reactions — so, while yes, i understand lighthearted jokes may still hit home a little too closely, i'm not responsible for your feelings /neu. but i get it. we're protective of our blorbos and i have a hard time with the jokes too. especially about prowl and especially especially about idw prowl, believe it or not. i do get upset over them, which i suppose was why i ran my campaign like that. many of the polls (from what i could see, i probably missed a lot) were just "my blorbo is so sweet he deserves to win" but swervesweep was solidly "do not vote for prowl he is a shit man" you can't tell me there wasn't some sort of bias because of idw prowl. there's a difference between lifting up a contender and slandering another so horribly. voting because you hate, not because you love.

so yeah, just like some had gotten upset over my campaign (even if it was a joke), i got upset upon seeing all the negative tags (even if they were jokes). i admit to getting defensive and decided to run a funny campaign focused on g1 and tfa, because there was more love for them and i wanted to try to make something a little silly but positive out of it. like "hey, ignore idw for just a second because i promise there are husband-material prowls." i do admit i may have let my saltiness show through that campaign too much, so this is a bit hypocritical of me and i fully acknowledge that.

i got more to say tho shdfdsfs this got long and messy, sorry. i'll put it under a cut. i don't usually talk this in depth about my opinion of idw prowl (or just. any opinion.) ironically for this exact reason but,,

i so desperately want to like idw prowl. i really do. and in some way, i do like him (surprising, i know). but i can't look past the way the writers and the fandom treat him. that's what i truly hate. he gets insanely (and imo undeserved) bad rep and i was just sick and tired of seeing all the unreasonable hate for him from cherrypickers. so if idw prowl is going to severely /neg affect people's opinions of prowl as a whole, then i'd prefer he didn't exist. that's my harsh and albeit a bit childish truth but i'm not sorry for it.

i dislike his portrayal for a number of reasons in that it's just not him to me. i can certainly acknowledge a character doesn't have to be consistently the same every time, and that idw was meant to be an expansion of these characters and what they can be. but it doesn't mean i like the direction they took with him. what they did to him/had him do. it was like they took his core being, what made his character solidly his, threw it at the mirror to reverse it and wondered why it shattered.

if it weren't prowl, i wouldn't have as much of a problem with his character in idw. but unfortunately, he is. in concept, he is a very interesting character with a beautifully tragic story and maybe i would've liked his skrunkly ass /affectionate. but he's just not my rodrick.

also i can't get past the ableism of his portrayal 🫶 that's not a page in my book i'd like to add besties. and not a page i'm getting into in this post.

it goes so much deeper than "wahh big titty cop man is so mean" like cmoooon. i'm not a coward for asking people to look past his wrongdoings in idw they unequivocally hate him for when literally everybody else in idw has in some way done equally bad or worse things ...but are still unconditionally loved? nah. if they can stop their bias for one (1) second, maybe they could see more. thus, idw-exclusionary campaign. in an attempt to get people to stop seeing every prowl as bad. because like i said, idw taints the fuck out of non-idw prowls. how is that any fair? (and how are we prowl lovers supposed to feel seeing all that?)

these are entirely my opinions. i'm entitled to mine just as you are yours, and i am entitled to spin the campaign in any way i want. idw-exclusionary, pro-jazzprowl, boob-loving 💖, what have you. if you didn't like it, then you were more than welcome to start your own campaign alongside me! you didn't have to leave it to me. should i have maybe tried to convince people why idw prowl's wrongdoings don't make him deserving of such hatred? sure, that'd been nice. but i'm not well enough equipped for that. you can do that tho, i'd love to see it

Cucumber Day 5 Watching Con's Filmography

(I also listened to a short story he'd been in, scroll down a bit on my page and you'll find it. For everyone who watched this and needs a refresher only on Con, someone finally posted a compilation on youtube. If you haven't seen the series, you'll probably be lost. But I'm sure its a fun out of context watch)

Summary wrote after binging the entire series in one day.

Please, Please, Please go online and check every warning for this show. Not only for the graphic hate crime but see everything they warn about. Protect yourself. This review will discuss sexual topics, nudity, and substance abuse, and age gaps.

So the show. I think it was fun, not the best tv show, and has some mixed messages, but a fun watch.

I grew up in a household/town where sex wasn't discussed. Especially queer shit. This show is very in-your-face about it and I admire the shit out of it. The friendships felt lived in. The experience of being a young queer 'hunted' by older queers was explored enough to not make Henry a complete hypocrite, sadly. But the focus was always more on Henry, even in the end, Henry still got off on the image of a 20 something during sex.

Fully noting, I did skip scenes. Some things were just a bit much for me, so I took the liberty to save peace and move on. Yet, the show does seem to balance heavy moments with joy and comedy. Hell, during a fucking funeral, some guys need to go check their dicks for hair. And you know what, I feel that if Lance were there, he wouldn't even be suprised.

I loved Freddy. Holy shit, at first, I was worried about how he'd be treated, but by the end, I was rooting for him. Obviously, the guy is just so used to being hunted for his body. This topic was brushed on with the teacher, and not really felt by the plot or the characters around him. I'm happy he felt like he could leave and just grow up as a person. I'm so happy they let the audience see a time jump where everyone turns up okay, and happy.

I'm not a queer man, but I know this shit can resonate. I've seen queer men online discuss these same points. Predatory age gaps, the pressure to be hot, aging, commitment, and communication issues in relationships...This isn't the best show for all that to be taken seriously but I'll leave that discussion to that community.

So Con's character, Cliff, was right about Henry in episode 1, and I fucking love when writers do this shit. "You always did that. Never had affairs, just obsessions." Cause in the context, yes, Henry never cheated. But he never has deep relationships; he has brief obsessions until things get too serious and he needs to move on. Hell, In episode 8, that's the conclusion Henry comes to himself. "Maybe one day I'll come to terms to it...being gay". Cause he wants intimacy but fears men and getting close to people. It's that closeness he struggles with.

The things that bugged me about the series

The entire bit about the boys playing chicken for internet attention. Again, I know this is a thing. But now a days we legitimately have children doing this stuff unknowingly for people online. Or parents unknowingly showing their children on tik tok for millions of people. I know people who were groomed, and avoided it like crazy growing up as a kid online. I cringed every time this plot point was mentioned, feeling like a kid was a second away from getting hurt. It just felt a bit much to touch on for me in this type of show. Again, they tried to have their cake and eat it too by showing Harry get a slap on the wrist, but it just didn't feel like it justified the plot line being there in the first place. Seriously, what did it add to the story besides showing Henry that maybe he should go back home? He could have done so many other things. The only funny bit is when Cliff commented how fucking weird straight people are sometimes.

Cliff says in ep 1 he had a history of going after older men when he was young, and the age gap is boggeling. Again, this could mean he only had a crush on him. But if we're going to bring up how wierd it was, then why is this and the teacher sub plot where minors brought up the only time its mentioned. Like yeah, the teacher-student situation was fucked up. How about the 30 and 40-year-olds going after people in their early 20s. "I'm horrified to discover I have standards." Fun line Cliff, yeah. But they are literally minors. Age gaps and taking advantage of younger queers is a real issue in the queer community. There should 100% be a place to talk about it. But when every 'likable' character does it without issue, then it's still a problem. Hell, this is why Freddy's plot felt so out of left field in ep 8 with Cliff and him fucking before running off. I don't know why he did it, knowing that Cliff wanted him for his body? Or maybe he just wanted comfort after that argument and knew he'd get it by having sex? I genuinely want to know other interpretations. If Freddy felt like this, it would have been more satisfying for Henry to learn his lesson and not use 20-year-old Freddy as wank material for the next 6/7 years. Also, Freddy running away from Cliff with his pants down was just funny.

The fun part that we have all been waiting for-

TALKING ABOUT CLIFF COSTELLO

(Yes, Cliff is kind of a douche early on. Enjoying eyeing Freddy and praising Henry for leaving his boyfriend for a 'young boy toy'. But, as the series goes, it dies down. Cliff, pre-episode 6 was a fun jackass. Post-ep 6 is one of the best characters in the show and the best friend you could ask for.)

I have seen most gifs online for this character. The soft outfits, smoking, suits, smiling. And fucking YET. The three scenes to me that make me love this character are-

"And obviously, I could take a statement. Have a briefcase with me, files and a pen. Because solicitors get searched entering a prison just like everyone else, but I'd still have a pen. Because a pen is all I'd need, really. I think it would take me a second to lean across and insert the pen through his throat. Right here. At the base. Straight through to the spine. (I could do that.) He'd bleed out in seconds. Dead. So... that's what I'll do. With your permission." I need Izzy to do this speech. Please god. In all your infinite wisdom. In this moment, I 100% felt that this lawyer would murder the murderer of his friend in sheer rage with a fucking pen.

Cliff pulling up(no crutches *curtsies with a smile*) to save Henry's ass from saying something stupid to the cops after their place gets ransacked. Stepping in and ensuring Freddy doesn't assault someone in front of cops.

"I look forward to the tribunal because the law is magnificent in this regard. It's not up to us to prove homophobia, it's up to you to prove homophobia does not exist. Best of luck. Thank you." AHHHHHHHH Smarmy, confident, smiling Con, I love it. Maybe the hottest thing Cliff does in this series, the outfit, the glaring before hand, the confidence, and AHHH.

His stand-out moments are when he's being a loyal, caring motherfucker. Trust me, after days of seeing a sad, depressed, miserable Con, seeing him thirsting after men was fun. Seeing him make dick jokes and act like an 'Elder Gay' that protected his own did heal my soul. But there was just a fucking genuine happiness he brought to the role.

I love that, even though he's a character Henry can rely on, Henry would never stay at his flat. (Obviously, cause then the plot wouldn't happen, but I like to think they know they'd both bring out the worst in each other).

Henry uses him for his knowledge of the law when doing cagey shit. It's great. Like getting his job back or doing the whole weird shit mentioned above for extra money. Seeing Cliff doing his best to stay semi-professional and not visibly judge the shit out of Henry for essentially being a soft core pimp is so fucking funny. Also, his 'that's our song' speech, where he goes on about how people steal underground culture, was fun.

The funeral made me respect Cliff, as he knew how to handle the situation. Keeping the situation safe enough in public so that Henry could have his own time to break down.

When Cliff didn't push, let Henry grieve on his own time, it was beautiful. Many of us would have immediately pushed that boundary. Trying to let ourselves feel better by stopping someone else from having destructive emotions. But Cliff knows better. Hell, when Henry is crying we see Cliff tearing up. Showing that Cliff knows to just step back tells us so much about how these two men care for each other.

Now a tiny praise corner about writing an Elder Gay lawyer character-

The sheer joy in Cliff knowing he could use the 'law' to protect queer people. Both for Lance and for getting Henry his job back. If Cliff is as old as Con, he'd have been a lawyer starting in the 1990's. He would have in practice during queer legalization post-thatcher in the UK. There's a good reason he seemed to be the happiest when they got home after getting his job back. He would have been taught Section 28 as a queer man.

He went from learning about all that shit as a young lawyer(who fucking survived the AIDS crisis), plus worse, to using ANTI DISCRIMINATION LAW for LGBTQ people! (kinda) So yeah. There's a very good fucking reason why that scene made me pause and stim for the fucking life of me. He was the happiest one when they came home, belting and smiling! So much has changed over his life and AHHH-

(This just hurts knowing this defence is all still legal where I live. And rights are being stripped every day... But hope still exists...yatta yatta.)

The friendship between Cliff and Henry feel so lived in. Burrowed and nestled. Clearly, Cliff has his own sad law show going on in the background and Henry is where he can let his (glorious) hair down.

I think it's funny as shit that when Henry panics and tries to find someone in mind to keep him in the moment sometimes he accidentally imagines Cliff. In a 'I've heard way to much about my friends sex lives so I think I know what it looks like' kind of way.

I also think it's funny that in the two times we see him in time jump to the future (At the table toasting Freddy and in Bed) Cliff is still not entirely gray after 6-7 years (obviously, they didn't think/want to age him up or do makeup just for a gag). However, Icon behavior.

His outfits? I would wear most of them. He is gender and life envy. Again, I think Cliff could have been a character to show how happy some people are without relationships. We get this vibe from him with the whole 'you're not tied down' speech, and I wish that was a concept explored more on TV.

He's the least depressed lawyer character I have seen on TV. If I could be a Cliff Costello type, I would go into law.

I think a good mix of the best parts of Cliff Costello and all of Val Pearson is who I want to be as an 'elder'(again, I turn 21 in January). Confident, loyal, willing to stick up for others, funny as shit. Maybe has a more stable love life than them, and hopefully not any substance addictions, but god. They just have so much joy when you know these characters had to have lived through such shitty times for queer people.

At first, I did this just to explore Con's work. But I think this has all helped me feel some hope for the future. What people need is support and love and a place to exist.

Overall ratings

Cinematography: 7/10. Fun edits. Fun motifs. Loved the opening, and the sound effects to suggest certain things to the audience was fun.

Story: 6/10. Would be higher but some shit just got stuck in my craw. Again, the show just got better and better as it went and by the end I just felt satisfied. Would be an 8 ish if not for my issues mentioned above.

Characters besides Con: 7/10. Everyone plays really fun parts. Everyone is shitty in their own unique way, and for the most part, they get what they deserve. Even if they haven't really learned their lesson yet (Henry, I swear to god you are on a wire). Satisfying arcs for everyone besides Henry, but that's the point. I'm happy the Collective wheedled out into a more realistic ending where these people could go on and live happy lives and not coddle the man.

Con: 8/10. He is so much fun, and he is having so much fun. I wish he was in it longer, but in every scene, he is in, he eats it up. He goes from serious lawyer to best friend in a flash and it just makes me so happy. Cliff is up there with my favorite performances, some of his actions just kill the vibe a bit for me. Again. Any series where Con smiles is a win. Also, I love that he bodied a character who uses movement aids, and it just made me more excited to see what he'd do with Izzy for S2.

OVERALL: 6-7/10.

Not an easy recommend but could be a fun rewatch when I start losing somd hope about our community, while trying to see the real issues that exist to this day...or see more people online criticize queer people for wanting to have sex.

Seems to be a supernatural horror Staring Con O'Neill and Rhiannon Clements(hopefully not a romance, since, with the person I googled, the age gap is 28 years. Okay-listen. This is like a big stretch just hear me out. What if Rumble was the one who exploded, did it happen after or during the war? If it happened during the war, then he would’ve been fine, all the G1 bots and cons are pretty much indestructible. After the war however……from the same episode we were were getting like a short review how energon depletion works for cybertronians AND that very same episode it seems Bumblebee is just cAssUALly mentioning an incident of hurt bot, a bot from the fandom’s pov that we care about very much. These writers are smart as hell, don’t think for a second that they make Bumblebee say that in an episode that is based around the topic of not refueling properly, and even when they have the gall to write a fantastic argument between Megatron and Optimus, really flushing out Megatron’s role in the show so far, an episode fully dedicated to Filipino heritage with also great writing and extra Alex and Bee dialogue points, THE ENTIRE FLIPPING MANDROID ARC. You’d think they would let Bumblebee get away with saying that as like a funny haha scenario. Writing in a character who has always been part of a such an important duo? An important friendship? Writing in Frenzy….without Rumble…… a sister without……. her brother? Suspicious. Especially considering this show’s gargantuan theme on friendship, and you guessed it, FAMILY. My bestest guess is that they want to make us think that Rumble is dead, and for good reason, because Soundwave believes he is dying.

Rumble took a big blow while being critically low on energon, putting himself in a a stasis coma as a cassette for a really long time. Of course the rest of the cassette gang took big blows too, but they wanted all their medical attention to be directed to Rumble. Both Buzzsaw and Ratbat got hurt making them too vulnerable to leave the base and therefore being with Rumble in his comatose state, guarding him the best they can. The only ones who could leave the base, and are without any too serious injuries, are Lazerbeak, Ravage, and Frenzy. They have to leave with Soundwave almost everyday to scavenge for energon to fuel their friends……..their family.

Also are we seriously going to accept that Soundwave was seriously going to jump Megatron without a plan? The episode is literally called Decoy. We all knew by the end of episode that Soundwave was planning something-something BIG. He knew that Rumble wasn’t going to wake up anytime soon, he just couldn’t bare the thought of looking at his kid in an awful state anymore. He had to act, and fast. Hmmmm? Let’s see? Stay with your Cassetticons and continue to scavenge for scraps of energon, or finally let go of your grudge against your ex who probably inspired you to become a strong soldier and put you and your children through life or death experiences everyday on the battlefield to only switch sides last minute, for a more “comfy” lifestyle?…….……..Neither, let’s be the better protector of your kind, who are trapped in jail cells, by the ones who say it’s for the safety of their own kind. Just remember the lines you rehearsed buddy, cause this has got-to-count. But let’s be honest, you weren’t getting anywhere by being out there.

“Break into” GHOST. Check. Lead a deception jailbreak and revolution against those who imprisoned them, and are total hypocrites. Almost Check. Save your kid with all the extra energon lying around and be a bad ass happy family again. Absolutely necessary to check at all costs.

Meanwhile, Frenzy is absolutely done with the crap that Autobots AND Decepticons have put her and her family through. She can’t trust anybody outside of her family anymore. Oh another deception, do they wanna be allies? NOPE they just want to steal your energon. Hey an autobot, gotta run or else they’ll put you in jail. It doesn’t even matter if your a decepticon or an autobot to Frenzy anymore, so far all those she has encountered are jerks. Especially the Autobots who work for GHOST who are probably brainwashing decpeticons as of right now, like they did to Megatron.

When Soundwave started acting differently and suddenly asked out of nowhere for them to cause some problems for a very specific GHOST employee, she was like “Awesome, Now your talking! Never would’ve thought I’d see the day where you’d start to lighten up. Oh Hey! Megatron and Optimus too! This is gonna be fun!”

It was not fun. They got captured. Soundwave got captured. They were going to con jail to serve out a life sentence. Rumble and the others might be next if Rumble’s even alive to see them get captured. Next thing they know, they’re being released and going back home.

“Please let us go!”

“You will only get one second chance. Don’t throw it away.”

Oh Primus this is bad. Like REALLY bad. Who’s gonna help with scavenging? Ravage, Lazerbeak, and Frenzy? R-Ravage?

“We’re free now. You don’t have to follow him anymore.”

Nope.

This is really fraggin bad…If they kept following Soundwave, they would just keep putting up with his grudge against Megatron, and make their lives harder. He didn’t even grieve as long as the others did. He just kept focusing on taking down the autobots, because if wasn’t for them, then they would’ve had enough energon, and the others wouldn’t have gotten hurt. Fair. But really?

Second of all, what’s with the new guys? Haven’t seen those two before. Are they new autobots? Ha, fraggin chums, can’t believe they caught Frenzy of guard with that catchy tune. Jerks…..

Random unhinged undertale rambling

The design for Sans and Papyrus is very deliberate with the fact they are always smiling, and their expressiveness comes from the movement of their eye(socket)s. This is not only because they are skeletons, but its also important to note that, even at their lowest points, they both still have big goofy smiles on their face, conveying both Papyrus nature of never giving up hope in people and Sans’ continuing to “put on a happy face” even when faced with the monumental existential dread of knowing that anything that happens, good or bad, matters because of the way time works in the world of Undertale. This isn’t to say that they shouldn’t show emotion but ATTENTION NEEDS TO BE PAID TO HOW THEY SHOW THIS EMOTION IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BE TRUE TO THE CHARACTERS.

Secondly, what makes Sans such an interesting character is the fact that he has gone almost fully numb. He knows how helpless he is to actually change anything and has, for the most part, accepted it and instead of ruminating on it, he’s decided to have a bit of fun with it, and because if he acts friendly it might at least minimize the damage the human will do. He doesn’t even really seem to care all that much when Papyrus dies, unless you specifically PROVOKE him by killing ONLY papyrus at which point he will either call you out for being a Hypocrite or “Ah, you’re just an asshole then. At least you’re honest about it.” because once again, anything that happens GOOD OR BAD will be reset and doesn’t really matter.

Yes, he did make a promise with Toriel, and he outright tells you that if he didn’t do so, he would’ve killed you almost immediately. However, he WILL break this promise if the human threatens him directly. This implies one of two things: Either he is so bound to this promise to this person he barely knows that he will stand by as the human murders everyone he cares about, but no so much that he is willing to die because of it OR that the promise is more of a justification to himself to allow the human the freedom to make their own choices.

Now admittedly this is where I go a bit into my headcanon, but bear with me, I do have quite a bit of media analysis to back this up.

MY PERSONAL INTERPRETATION OF THE STORY is that the narrative is... Well the best way I can put this (hopefully) without sounding unhinged is that if you took the story, changed the names and setting while keeping the core themes, characters and events of the story, you could have a passable sort of sequel to Paradise Lost, namely the War in Heaven and christian mythos. STAY WITH ME PLEASE I KNOW THIS SOUNDS INSANE BUT HEAR ME OUT I BEG YOU I MUST SHARE THIS INSANITY WITH OTHERS PLEASE THIS IS JUST ME INTERPRETING THE SYMBOLISM AND DRAWING LITERARY PARALLELS NOT ME CLAIMING THAT UNDERTALE IS ACTUALLY A STORY ABOUT GOD AND THE DEVIL JUST THAT TOBY FOX MAY HAVE BEEN INSPIRED BY THE STORIES

I’m just saying that, in some twisted way, it could be a story of Lucifer returning to Heaven

1. What kicks it off the events of Undertale is a large scale war between the Humans and Monsters, and while the monsters are the ones banished, the end result is practically the same: Separation between monsters(Angel stand in) and humans (Demon stand in) Humans/Demons did BAD THING and now the two worlds have been separated

2. Im just gonna get this over with and say Asriel (Who’s name is based on Azrael, an angel) COULD be looked at as a stand in for Jesus, an envoy of the monsters who left the undergound with a message of peace and was killed because of it. This is admittedly the weakest point I have considering Azrael is the angel of death, and the whole thing with Chara muddying it up, but my brain gave me the idea of comparing the funny goat boy to jesus christ and I had to at least mention it

3. A common interpretation I tend to see is that the underground is “Hell” and in my opinion, this does not line up with the themes and imagery within Undertale. In Undertale, the humans are the aggressors, and while the monsters are willing to fight to defend themselves, they are almost always willing to make peace if given the right opportunity.

4. The Human is referred as to as being “Fallen” and the Prophecy of The Deltarune symbol describes him as an angel. Put these two facts together, the human is a Fallen Angel.

5. Toriel’s name is Toriel because shes acts as Tu-Toriel. This has nothing to do with anything except that when searching for the origin of her name, I found out that this STUPID pun has gone over my head for the last almost 8 years and now here it is for anyone else who’s missed it.

6. Taking what I said about Sans giving the human a chance to make their own decisions and running with it, Sans acts as the sort of “God” character. This sounded insane to me at first but then I realized you literally meet him in LIGHT BATHED CHURCH WHERE HE PASSES JUDGEMENT ON THE HUMAN and the whole game he acts as an almost omnipresent observer.

7. Now for the endings

Neutral: Reuniting Humans/Hell and Monsters/Heaven is deemed untenable at the current moment due to the actions (or lack of action) the human has taken, but both sides might walk away either a little bit wiser or with a renewed sense of division. Either way, the Underground is changed forever

Pacifist: The human has turned away from violence, even in the most difficult of scenarios. Asriel is reminded of the love they once shared with humans and the two sides become one again. The Lucifer-standin has clearly changed and is brought back into the fold

Genocide: “Lucifer” returns and enacts violence against everything, reigniting the War in Heaven but is now unstoppable. After killing both “God” and “Jesus” they are left with nothing except Chara. I disagree that Chara is the devil or satan, but instead is the personification of violence itself, fueled by ambition, to “gain power and defeat the enemy” which is what caused Lucifer to be cast out to begin with. They ask you/Lucifer if you’d like to finish what the two of you have started and if you have the gall to say no, they “gently” remind you that THEY have always been been in control: Lucifer’s ambition to wipe out Heaven and YOU, THE PLAYER’S ambition to “beat” the game to its fullest extent, even if it means going against the themes of the game, leaving Undertale to be cast aside and uninstalled to for the next game you to beat: “Erase this world and move onto the next”

I am not surprised that after the frenzy of the first two episodes, I’m not seeing a lot about this episode. Because it’s a table-setting episode and kind of boring, and making a clear difference between this season of Criminal Minds, and previous ones: we’re not going to get someone spelling out the psychology involved: 

I noticed this with the last episode, when people were unhappy that the killer was giving people a choice between death and being paralyzed, and they chose death.

The main thing I’m seeing in the current season is that the BAU does not have time, or the script does not have time, to fully process the reasons for what the unsub is doing (I think this might be a plot point, because it bit them in the ass in episode 3). From context, it was very clear that a person who suffered a debilitating physical change wanted to present the people who cut him out of his life with the same issue, but with a choice, a choice the unsub didn’t have. You can be paralyzed and live, or you can die. Hypocrites chose death. 

(Real life experience cutting in here: my father can barely feel his feet. I’m probably in the first stages of spinal degeneration. It really does fucking suck, so spare me with “people should be okay with just being paralyzed for life”. If you don’t know how much this actually changes the way you live, you can sit down. Yes, of course, disability is better than dying. But we don’t live in a society that makes this an obvious or easy choice. How many jobs require standing for 8 hours a day? How does your self worth change when your hobby is hiking, or dancing, or roller skating and suddenly your body tells you to do it a different way? In general, we are functionally deprived of this perspective. So yeah, JJ’s response was disappointing. Someone breaking when he had to change wasn’t.)

Anyway, after that tangent, the episode, the table setting. That’s why it’s boring. We did learn a lot in this episode about the plot, a lot about the main villain, that he’s deeply in debt (because it turns out funding murders is expensive. That’s actually a little funny, because it was getting to be a running joke that every killer in Criminal Minds had like...an elaborate kill floor) and getting desperate, that the person they caught this episode was Penelope’s informant, and that we are about to get some episodes about the other two methods of death, likely strangulation and poisoning. Or not, because someone who gave the main unsub a lot of money just jumped the queue. In any case. I really try not to analyze Criminal Minds in a deeper context. I always love the characters, but it’s ultimately just a procedural cop show. I probably have more to say about everything but...for this show I’m usually there for the ride, and I ignore things at my leisure. 

There was some really great Tara relationship stuff. Rebecca knew she was putting her career on the line to feed information to the BAU. And I like that even though she was initially freaked out, Tara did see herself moving in with Rebecca (Tara, talk to Penelope please, she needs help). Honestly, I know like, no one understands it, but I love the office politics. If you’re going to have a hedge fund manager with a badge (Prentiss’s words), the maneuvering gives me life.
