Note for anyone wondering what all the “sa, sa, iiyasasa” yelling is all about: this song is in the style of Okinawan music, so the shouting you hear in the background is kakegoe which you usually hear in Okinawan songs.

[Translation] Tsukihana Kagura Cast Presentation: Akane (SolidS)

Moving forward, here’s one of the presentations I enjoyed translating the most. SolidS always manage to bring out my salty side, best stress relief method ever.

Takamura Shiki

“Well then, shall we dance? Just like a flame in the wind”

Nation: Akane ※chief

Flower name: Enshin (Blazing Heart)

Dance technique: Kagutsuchi (Incarnation of Fire)

Dance props: Folding Fan / Inscription: [Hanayoi] (Intoxicating Flower)

This young man had the chance and the resolution to become a musician at one point in his past, but changed his mind and became a dancer. He composes his own music for the kagura.

Despite having spent an incredibly long time composing songs as a musician and much less practicing as a dancer, his dance seems to strangely mesmerize any person.

Of course, that attracts envy and jealousy from other dancers, but he himself doesn’t care about it at all and chooses to ignore them. Also, he's always quick to act as if nothing happened.

According to him, he likes watching others dance more than performing himself. As he is not an active dancer, any person who happens to find him dancing can consider themselves lucky. 

Okui Tsubasa

“I guess I’m the phoenix in blazing robes, then?”

Nation: Akane 

Flower name: Tenka (Celestial Fire)

Dance technique: Rekka Hiyoku (Overlapping Wings Ablaze)

Dance props: No props

Although he came to the ‘Tsukihana Festival’ for amusement purposes and engaged in dances unintentionally, he ended up catching Shiki’s attention, who at the time was participating with the ‘Flower Dancers’ as a musician, and was scouted.

His goal in life was by no means becoming a dancer and, thus, the proposal left him in confusion, but eventually he was convinced to do it by out-pushing.

Endowed with the temperament of a prodigy, he managed to become a real ‘Flower Dancer’ in the matter of four years. He revealed not only an inborn talent, but also a naturally competitive character.

The songs Shiki makes are particularly his favorites, so he’s asked Shiki to write a lot of songs for him exclusively.

Interview with Takamura Shiki (SolidS)

Q. Please tell us about the highlights of this stage play and your impressions or story behind your partnered dance.

Even in this play I’m the same indoors workaholic. So thank you for making my preparations for this role much easier. Still, if you think about it, when your experience with Japanese dances or traditional dancing in general is almost nonexistent, you won’t end up performing this ‘perfect, neat dance on the spur of the moment’ just because the script say so. The best remedy for that is practice over practice every day, and less self-pampering. Tsubasa’s stamina and motivation are already overflowing, so I guess it’s time I show my presence as a leader.

Q. In Tsukihana, all 12 nations have their own specialties, but if you could come up with a new specialty for your own country, what would it be?

Akane pickles.

Basically these pickled vegetables mixed with spicy red peppers. It’s the best as a side dish.

Q. Lastly, leave a short message for the fans.

After every rehearsal I have to treat the members with a meal, it’s my fate as the eldest. I think they should call me the ‘wallet guy’ already. It’s probably still better than being surrounded somewhere in the distance (smiles bitterly). I’ll do my best and try to absorb my cute juniors’ freshness.  

Interview with Okui Tsubasa (SolidS)

Q. Please tell us about the highlights of this stage play and your impressions or story behind your partnered dance.

The people who know us will come across hints from the ‘Burny!!!’ choreography hidden in Akane’s dance! Did you find them? If you did, how about I take you aside to tell me about them? Mental note: Shiki might be usually a super indoor guy during rehearsals, but when he says he’d dance, things get really interesting. Keeping up with him? Of course, it was a piece of cake! 

Q. In Tsukihana, all 12 nations have their own specialties, but if you could come up with a new specialty for your own country, what would it be?

Curry.

Probably seasoned with red spices! We’d have a mild one, too!

Q. Lastly, leave a short message for the fans.

When I think about the ‘Kachoufuugetsu’ series, I remember these gorgeous traditional Japanese outfits and the handsome men and beauties who wore them. 

Seeing the same handsome men and beauties performing the kagura is a must-see ☆

Sera Rikka

“Nothing but beautiful. Strong, yet so graceful.”

Flower name: Mahi (Thriving Fire)

Dance technique: Ryouka Mado (Veracious Bonfire)

Dance props: Kagura Bells / Inscription: [Kokonoe Hibana] (Ninefold Sparks)

He’s one of Shiki’s coworkers from his days as a musician. During an exchange of harsh words happened at the time when Tsubasa was scouted, he retorted with “If Shiki will do it, count me in, too.”, words that would become the kick Shiki needed to pursue a dance career and his own push on the same path as him. 

As a matter of fact, he was once nominated for the position of chef for the ‘Flower Dancers’, so he’s mainly responsible for guiding Tsubasa and Dai.

He may look like a gentle person, but during his guiding lessons he’s nothing but strict.

Murase Dai

“I’ll cut my hesitation apart and deliver a fierce dance”

Nation: Akane

Flower name: Souen (Pale Flame)

Dance technique: Yaka Rokka (Vigil in the Snow)

Dance props: Long Sword / Inscription: [Ao Homura] (Azure Flame)

This young man was entrusted with the escorting of the ‘Flower Dancers’ during the ‘Tsukihana Festival’. At that time, he was spotted by Shiki, who was working as a musician, and ended up being scouted together with Tsubasa.

As he seemed to be struggling financially, the working conditions promised for ‘Flower Dancers’ (dormitory accommodation, three meals per day and nap included, plus a high remuneration), were more than enough to make him accept.

He was a hard-working person to begin with, but having someone as hot-headed as Tsubasa around since the beginning of their training made him really get into it.

He doesn’t really appear to dislike Rikka’s fervent guidance. 

Interview with Sera Rikka (SolidS)

Q. Please tell us about the highlights of this stage play and your impressions or story behind your partnered dance.

My kagura bells and Dai’s long sword. Both items are so different not only through appearance, but also through aura, and yet our choreographer managed to use them and integrate them in the tune. Hats off to him. It’s really worth seeing and I think it will leave an impact on everyone, so I’d be glad if you look forward to seeing it. The sounds of the bells will lure you into a parallel universe.

Since we’re dealing with fire here ♪

At long last, you can meet everyone in the ‘Tsukihana Kagura’ world. I think each of you have some expectations for what’s going to happen during your attendance, but we plan to show you a performance that will exceed any of those expectations. Please take care of us.

Interview with Murase Dai (SolidS)

Q. Please tell us about the highlights of this stage play and your impressions or story behind your partnered dance.

Whether it’s inside a play or in real life, Rikka still shows his abilities in a spartanic way. He says ‘Let’s go one more time’ and ‘Can I go through this again?’ over and over again. He doesn’t leave time for anyone to say “No, wait a sec…” He dances with such composure, so I always accompany Rikka whenever he practices overtime voluntarily (bitter smile). I hope I can show you the results of our rehearsals at the theatre. 

Q. In Tsukihana, all 12 nations have their own specialties, but if you could come up with a new specialty for your own country, what would it be?

Akane beef.

One that looks just like the Matsusaka beef.

The small props that SolidS uses for the dances are all over the place (i.e. not uniform) and in a way, I guess it's like us, isn’t it? The other units are the same. And so are the people living in this alternative world.

Tsubasa: Yeah. This. It’s a spread and it sure has impact~

Rikka: Ah, it’s true. Ohh, so in the end they finished up the visual like this. Dai, you too, look.

Dai: Oh. Eh, it’s pretty flashy. The outfits were Japanese-style, so I thought it’d be more solemn.

Tsubasa: Me too. They showed us a rough image before the shooting, but after adding the letters and all, the impression really changes! There are times when I see a poster and think “ah, so in the end it’s like this”.

Dai: There are. Like with this “Beauties of the nature” visual.

Rikka: Hmm… Usually, the visual is finished mostly like the rough image shows… but in our case, in SolidS, our leader and producer makes things as they progress, so…

Tsubasa: *laughs* That’s true. He also does it with songs. In the middle of a recording, he suddenly hums something and goes like “I’ve decided to go with this phrase, so ignore the music score”.

Dai: Also, “I want to raise the last chorus a semitone”, or something.

Tsubasa: Yes yes yes he says that!!

Dai: He wants to try everything he can do.

Tsubasa: Right. I’ve gotten used to his unreasonable requests already, but you know… Geez, that reckless producer. Getting used to it and forgiving him are different things!

Rikka: Ahaha… When it comes to production, Shiki is full of vigour and curiosity, so the things he aims for are always high. He’s very particular. If we think we’re stimulating Shiki’s ambition, I guess it’s nice?

Tsubasa: Rikka, you’re too soft on him.

Rikka: Ehh, you think so?

Dai: You’re indeed soft.

Rikka: Dai, you too? I wonder… so that’s how it looks like… That’s true. Maybe I’m a little soft on him. Shiki used to provide songs for other artists, right? Since it’s an outside order, he can’t do things of his own accord. And there was a time he was rotting away because of that, and I know it well. I think he’s having fun now.

Dai: Hm… Oh, but looking at it again, it’s really flashy.

Tsubasa: Heh, I love the impact it has.

Shiki: It’s kind of annoying to admit it, but since our manager Haiduki is pulling up some of the work at hand sorting it, I have a bit more of time to spare. And that’s why I thought of starting another series, a unit song series where the four of us will sing.

Tsubasa: Ah, so you meant that! More songs! It’s nice!! Increasing our song repertoire is more than welcome!

Rikka: I’m also happy I get to sing more with everyone.

Dai: Me too, I don’t have any objections.

Shiki: I see. Then let’s say there’ll be no problem with the production. I’ll announce officially that we’re increasing our line with another series in tomorrow’s meeting. We have to decide on the promotion plan, after all. I’ll handle that end, so I don’t mind doing it myself, but I want to decide the song’s content, the concept, with everyone.

Tsubasa: E-ehhh did he just say with everyone?? Deciding the new song’s course together?? Not leaving it to the… er… hikikomori producer’s brain’s work like always???

Shiki: Well sorry it’s the work of a hikikomori’s brain.

Tsubasa: Don’t sulk, Shiki!! Not bad, it’s great!!! Working the four of us together!! Being involved in the project since its roots sounds so fun!! Right? Don’t you think so, Dai-chan, Rikka??

Dai: That’s true. Rather than seeing “oh, so this is how it’s finished”, like that ad, I prefer this, personally.

Shiki: Hm. How about you, Rikka?

Rikka: Of course I’m happy too, but I have no knowledge about song composition… will it be fine?

Shiki: That won’t be any problem. It’s just the concept, the course. The motives and images you want to sing or express. If you tell me what you want to do, I’ll handle the composition. You only need to think that you’re giving me a theme.

Rikka: I see. Then it’ll be fine.

Tsubasa: Hehehe okay, then might as well throw you a super difficult theme!!! As a revenge for always making us go crazy.

“Beauties of the nature” (花鳥風月, kachoufuugetsu) is a series of CDs released by SolidS, Growth and SOARA during 2016, four volumes each. The volumes are based, as the name says, in the traditional themes of natural beauty in Japanese aesthetics, which are flower (花), bird (鳥), wind (風) and moon (月). Like Shiki said, SolidS released them as solos, while Growth and SOARA did it as unit songs. You can see the visuals for them here. (all the songs are amazing btw, listen to them if you haven’t)

Next up is the (in)famous Soliradi! If you play Tsukipara and you’re wondering why Shiki yells “ajillo” all the time, you’ll find out in next track~

Hello. I'm rather new to TsukiPro and I would like to know if any of the groups have full CDs of just their songs? I'm interested in the dramas that much, just the music; especially SolidS. Do they have a full album? Thank you!

The only CDs that contain no dramas would be the Kachoufuugetsu and recent XLied series. Otherwise, there’s at least one or two dramas in the other CDs. The dramas in the early seasons and unit songs are to help familiarize listeners with the characters and their stories ヽ(〃･ω･)ﾉ

Hitting 100 translations

I started working on translations for this fandom back in April 2018 and I’m already very close to hitting 100 translations. Currently a total of 92 translations were counted (including what I happened to posted on other accounts, but excluding tweets translations)

Since this is a special occasion, I’ll be taking up a translation request for my 100th translation! I did something similar back in December but as a Christmas thing. All you have to do is basically look over the list below and send me an ask (it can be anonymous too, but don’t cheat by sending more asks that way) with what you’d like me to translate. The winning request will be translated. 

Of course, I might not cover all the things I have for tsukiuta/tsukipro, so you’re free to send me requests that don’t appear on the list. But if by any chance I don’t have it, I will let you know so you can change your request. You can send me requests until I hit my 99th translation.

I finally got the rest of the SOARA Kachoufuugetsu BKs thanks to Deea~! Now, I can finally finish translating all of them XD Anyways, this one is for the “Soyokaze no Uta” single~! Of course, since it’s “soyokaze,” this is from the Wind Chapter of their Kachoufuugetsu series~! It’s just SOARA being their usual cute selves wwww

[A Breeze Crossing the Horizon]

             The sound of the waves breaking on the shore.

           The white sandy beach, the blue sea. The green leaves and a red hibiscus flower.

           A brilliant summer surely was unfolding there.

“… We’re finally here!”

“Okinawa~!!!”

           Yes, the members of SOARA have arrived in Okinawa.

 “Man~ I tried to say that the way a local would but still~! Who’d have thought that we’d get to go to Okinawa, huh!? The President’s so nice!” Sora exclaimed.

           Soshi deeply agreed and nodded as he tapped Sora’s shoulder while the latter was gushing about the sun and the sea.

“Sora, you… You’ve really done some good work, huh,” Soshi said.

“H-his real work (a composer) is only going to begin from here on though…” Ren, the only one with common sense, said as a usual retort.

“I wonder if we can go to Shuri Castle…” Soshi muttered.

           Morihito was usually one to retort and comment as well but, he quickly pulled out the sightseeing map that he excitedly bought back at the airport’s shops.

           Of course, it can’t be helped. It was their first time in Okinawa, after all.

           Sora immediately jumped out of the car, Morihito and Soshi were looking at the map, dead set on sightseeing… No, they were already planning what areas to cover.

“Is this really okay…?” Ren thought to himself.

           They did receive money from the agency but, to use it to play around is a little bit… The office staff who went with them for this trip (since SOARA still doesn’t have their exclusive manager) looked at the flustered Ren and smiled a bit, feeling like he could guess what was going on in the young man’s mind.

He said, “Ren-kun. Sightseeing… It’s really just that, you know? It’s okay to think of this Okinawa trip as a summer break present to you all from the President, understand?”

“Eh? Ah, is that so?” Ren asked.

“Everyone still doesn’t have a lot of work piled up yet, correct? [Play as much as you like and strengthen your spirits!] is what the President said,” he explained.

“Oh…” Ren hesitated.

           Morihito was sneakily listening on the conversation and said, “Ah, I’m sorry. We didn’t tell you about it, huh?”

“Soshi and I heard about it beforehand. That’s why, Ren, you should take him up on the offer and enjoy yourself, too, okay?” Morihito continued.

“I-is that so…?” Ren asked, letting his chest drop from relief.

           Nozomu stretched his hand out to Ren as if waiting exactly for this moment. He grabbed him tightly by the shoulders.

“Ren, Ren, look! Seems like we can take commemoration photos by the seaside there!” Nozomu exclaimed.

“Eh? Ah… What!?” Ren was at a loss.

“Ah~! That’s awesome! I wanna take a picture, too!”

“OK, OK! Sora, you stand here~!”

“WHAT!?”

“After taking this photo, it’s straight to the sea, ‘kay!?”

“Yeah~!”

           A wonderful breeze crossing the sea’s horizon began to blow.

[NEW ANIME] Are we getting a new Hell Girl anime?! Retailers list possibility of new TV anime

Several big Japanese anime retailers, including Tsutaya, have posted about the release of Hell Girl (Jogoku Shoujo)’s new Kessakusen Kachoufuugetsu manga volume by Miyuki Etoo. The Tsutaya listing has stated that the manga will come with a booklet containing character designs for a brand new Hell Girl TV anime.

The listing also stated that the new TV anime will begin airing in July 2017, but it didn’t give any further details. While these are official listings from reputed distributors, there’s still no official announcement about the new anime as of the moment. The Kessakusen Kachoufuugetsu manga volume will be released in March, and many are expecting that it will include the official announcement.

Hell Girl follows Ai Enma, a mysterious vengeful spirit which runs the Hell Correspondence website. Those who wish to exact vengeance upon their fellow men must write the names of their intended victims in the website. However, it comes with a price, and that is their souls would also go to hell after they die.

This new anime would become the 4th anime series for the Hell Girl franchise, which also includes a live-action TV series and a manga adaptation.
