I'm Bored! (Riko x Kagami SHORT).

Cause TBH this is my favorite ship ^-^ "Ugh!" Riko groaned as she kicked her feet over the sofa, her heading hanging off the edge. Her giant boyfriend, Kagami, walked out of the kitchen with a popsicle in his mouth. "What's wrong?" he asked. "I'm. So. Bored! Summer break is ending, we've already done all we wanted to do and my dad has been busy at work every single day. I dunno what to do man." Riko complained as she watched Kagami walk over to her and look at her. He was upside down to her. "Is that my last blueberry popsicle?" Riko asked. "Yeah, you want some?" he offered her some. She nibbled the edge of the popsicle, letting the frozen sugar melt in her mouth.  "Well, do you wanna head out somewhere or you wanna hang in here?" Kagami plopped himself next to her, bringing a giant hand to gently (not really) slap her belly. "Ouch! That hurt!" Riko whined. "Did not." "Did too!" "Did. Not." "Did too did too did too! It's no fair cause you're like, double my weight!" "Well I am a guy, and I am taller and stronger than you." "So that means I can do this?" Riko socked him in the chest. "Ouch! I said I was stronger than you, doesn't mean I'm immune to pain!" he grabbed her wrists and pinned her up then down against the couch so he was on top of her. "You jerk." she snickered at him. "I know," Kagamied grinned, his lips blue from the popsicle he finished. "You may be stronger than me. . . but there is one thing I know about you that you don't even know about you," Riko smirked. "What's that?" "Let me go for a second then." ". . . I don't trust you." "Just do it!" "What?! Are you gonna do the Boston Crab hold? I swear Kuroko's spine hasn't been the same I'm telling you he runs funny now!" "Just. . . let. . . me. . .go!" Riko squirmed as she tried to break free of his grip. "Fine fine!"  He let her go and she sat up immediately. She pushed her way into him and straddled his lip, her arms creeping around his shoulder blades. "What're you doi-" "Shh." "Riko you're actually kinda creeping me out what're you tryna do-" "I said hush!" She placed her hands below his shoulder blades, and began to tickle him. "H-hey what're you- HEY! HAHA THAT TICKLES!" Kagami began to squirm and laugh as Riko furiously tickled up and down his spine. Kagami kicked and squirmed all over the couch with Riko taking over. "OKAY OKAY PLEASE STOP, RIKO STOP- HAHAHA RIKO- HAHAHA!" Riko finally slowed down and smirked at him, his face red and hot from all the laughing. "How did you know I was ticklish there? I didn't even know!" "Told you I know things about you, besides, this could be a small ab workout for you!" "Oh jeez," Kagami muttered, wiping his face with his hand. "Oh you love me," Riko gave him a peck on the lips in which he returned by wrapping his arms around her neck. "I do," he kissed her back.

 The Best Cupid

 “Okay Kagamin! Repeat after me!”

“N-no! That’s stupid!”

“Kagami-kun, please do as she says. We’re here forthat.”

Kagami let out a strangled howl and banged his headagainst the Burger’s table, covered with empty burger’s packages. He couldn’tdo. It was impossible.

In front of him were seated Kuroko and Momoi. Thelatter had been called as an emergency helper, since Kuroko couldn’t deal withKagami’s love life anymore. Those days the boy was so distracted that he hadhit his shadow in the face with the ball at least thrice every afternoonpractice; his grades were worse than usual and, the real tragedy, his usualbright and blunt self had been transformed into a gloomy, annoyed and lifelessblob. Kuroko needed his partner back. Immediately.

So, he had called Momoi and organized that afternoon.

“Kagami do you like Riko-chan or not?” she huffedpuffing out her cheeks and crossing her arms. Why boys had to be so stupid?

Kagami groaned something unintelligible and his earsturned red.

“I told you, no? You have to be direct and polite.Sure of yourself but not aggressive. Confident yet mature. Why is it sodifficult?” she said shaking her head and her victim glared.

“That’s embarrassing. And not like me at all,” He repliednervously, shivering at the look she gave him.

“Who is Riko’s best friend? Right, me! So, if you wantto conquer her, trust me! With my help, you can’t fail!” she boasted with awide, confident grin that reassured Kagami a little bit. Truth to be told,there was another reason for whichMomoi was sure he wasn’t going to be rejected but Kagami didn’t have to know.

“Okay…”

Kuroko sighed in relief. Maybe, maybe this time theycould do it.

“So, what you have to do first?” Momoi asked himpatiently, like an elementary school teacher.

“First, I stand in front of her and look into her eyes…”Kagami murmured with flaming cheeks.

“Then?”

“Then I smile.” He groaned more and more embarrassed ashe spoke.

“And…?”

“Ask her if she wants to date me?” he dubiouslyanswered, but Momoi rolled her eyes. She was such a devil.

“How do you ask her?”

“Riko-san, I’m headover heels for you. Please, go out with me.” He recited in a whisper, readyto disappear from the shame. As soon as he finished, he banged the head again,Momoi cheered and Kuroko thanked the heavens. They were done.

“This is not going to work.” Kagami whined. He knew hecould have never mustered the courage to do it. Even if, even if he wished forit so hard.

“Don’t be so negative! You just need the right chance!”Momoi chirped and checked her phone. A grin flashed on her lips when she saw thenew text.

“Oh really? Which chance?” Kagami growled annoyed,swimming into his depression. He was a basketball player, basketball was theonly thing he was good at. He didn’t date, he wasn’t interested in girls…andyet, there he was with that hellish matchmaker. How did he end up un thatsituation?

“This chance!” Momoi thrilled and, before he could doanything, she grabbed his wrist and dragged him away from the table. The othercustomers glanced curiously at the terrified and blushing giant being draggedout from the restaurant bya small, pink fury.

“What are you say-?” he barked uselessly, trying tostop her, but it was too late. He found himself on the street, face to facewith a confused Riko.

“Kagami-kun?”

“Coach!” Kagami screeched surprise and he felt hisheart stop. Momoi couldn’t be so evil righ-

“Sorry Riko-chan! Kuroko has just asked me out on adate and we have to go!” The girl chirped with a shiny smile, her arm aroundKurokos waist, who worn his usual blank expression, “But don’t worry, Kagami isgoing to walk you home!”

Momoi then glared for a fraction of second at Kagamiand the boy’s throat dried up.

“Momoi wa-“ Poor Riko tried to call her, but the othergirl was already running away. The coach then watched her phone, frowned and thencursed her friend. She was so cheeky!

The two of them remained there in silent looking ateach other embarrassedly.

“Kagami-kun you don’t have to walk my home,” sheexhaled in the end, gripping the strap of her schoolbag. “I can perfectly go onmy own, don’t worry.”

“NO!” he exclaimed making her jump, “No I mean- Well,It’s- I’ll do it. I’ll do it.” He finally managed to stutter. Riko blushed alittle, but nodded.

She started walking. “This way.” She led fidgeting andKagami moved to her side in silence.

Some minutes passed without them muttering a word,Kagami too focused on freaking out (internally).

Okay. It was his chance. Momoi and Kuroko were right,he couldn’t escape forever. Better telling her and being rejected than mopingaround. Maybe. Or at least he hoped. Damn, why was it so difficult?

“So coach-“ he began awkwardly, but stopped immediately.Damn, he should have started calling her by surname, right? This was so embarrassinghe was going to die. He had already forgotten everything Momoi had explainedhim.

“Yes? Kagami-kun?” Riko called him for the third time,tilting her head nervously. Was everything okay with him?

He looked at her and cursed. They were walking side toside! Side to side! Momoi had said to stand in front of her but how could he everdo it if they were walking?!

“Y-yes?” he hysterically replied and the girl couldn’tstop from chuckling.

“Are you okay, Kagami-kun?” she asked incredulous andamused by his strange behavior, but Kagami fell again into his own thoughts.She was cute when laughing, alright? Really cute. He wanted to be the reason ofthat smile and didn’t give a crap if he was being sappy.

If that confession went well, he could be. He could beRiko’s boyfriend. That was so good he felt drunk only by thinking about it.

You know what? He didn’t care about anything anymore.She was worth a try.

“”What are you freaking out about?” she was asking curious, shaking her head.

“Y-you know,” Kagami blurted before he could eventhink about what the hell he was doing, “I was kind of hoping you’d, y’know…fallin love with me. Please.”

Riko stopped immediately and turned to watch him withwide eyes.

Kagami halted too and stood there stiffly, waiting foran answer with burning cheeks and not daring to meet her eyes. (Momoi was goingto be so disappointed in him)

“I-Is this how you c-confess, B-Bakagami?!” Rikofinally stuttered shocked, hitting his chest with a light punch. “Y-you s-suck…”

Kagami felt his heart crumbling, when she spoke againin a whisper. “I can’t believe I’m accepting it…”

Kagami noticed the red hue of her face and the way herlips tremble to restrain a smile. Her eyes were shining warmly.

Oh God.

“I’ll be in your care!” he suddenly yelled, smilingwidely at her and forgetting all his past worries and insecurities. He couldn’tbelieve it.

“M-me too! But don’t yell!” she shushed him, beginningwalk away all flustered. But Kagami chased after her and grabbed her hand,happy like a child.

She repeated “Bakagami!” under his breath, but didn’tlet go and instead she squeezed gently his hand.

She had to thank Momoi later.

 Three daysbefore, Riko’s room

“So? How’sgoing with Kagamin?” Momoi asked, seated on the carpet and Riko sighed.

“Nothing. Ican’t believe I’m falling for such a basketball idiot. He’s never going toconfess!” she complained defeated, hiding her face in the pillow, “Well, notthat I believe he’s in love with me anyway!

“Riko-chan!”Momoi called her affectionately and rushed to hug the girl, “Don’t worry! I’msure he’s gonna do it. It’s blatant he likes you!”

“You can’tknow it for sure…”

“I knoweverything! And trust me, I’m going to help you out! You’re lucky I’m the bestCupid in town!”

KagaRiko. omg pls don’t tell me that you don’t see the huge potential there coz realllly. they would make a BAMFF couple (outwardly, that is). But the most important side of all is who they actually are, the dork and the brain. and the fact that kagami is a year younger, that makes it even cuter. like the idea of him feeling overly protective and insecure of the presence of the other older guys around Riko is just….ahhhhh. and remember their first meeting? when he was trying to be rude af. there’s an NG on that one where kagami failed to throw the trash into the bin lmao. but then again im also a multi/riko shipper.

HijiChizu. okay I may ship some other chizuru pairings more than this one sometimes. BUT. i think this will always be the endgame for me.  sure, other ships are cuter, more exciting and all but, hijikata/chizuru is just….right. Most people think of him as a cold person but really he’s just a serious guy who would carry everyone else’ burden alone and takes pride in his own belief of justice. and this is where chizuru becomes essential to him. she saw the pressure that’s been slowly crushing him internally and wanted to shoulder the burden with him. like others may hate him for his decisions at times, but in those times, she’ll be the one who understands. and i think that’s true love man.. oh god im getting cheesy right now. i like it when a pairing is about going thru something together, and not only about one person’s sacrifice. well i can also say the same for all other chizuru ships but it’s just strongest in this one.

Kacchako. HAHAHAHAHAHA THIS WASN’T MY PLAN OKAY. I was still a true deku/ochako shipper once upon a time (and still am actually), then one day i just thought, “hey wouldn’t it be awesome if ochako tells bakugou off for always bullying deku?”. AND THEN THAT SHOWDOWN HAPPENED IN THE SPORTS FEST ARC. O M F G. never have i been so excited to that extent for a pairing. Some people say it’s “abusive” coz he went all out with her, but THAT is the important factor. he didn’t go easy on her because he knew that she was serious about it and acknowledged her as an opponent despite the crowd’s boos to him for that. he knew that she didn’t need any pity from anyone and especially from him, so he gave it his all and took her seriously. And then when she surprised him with a well-thought tactic, all the more he couldn’t underestimate her. that means so much to her. and since then she keeps on passing these small honest remarks around him lol it’s cute. it’s weird to be shipping all my children with each other but. :’)

SaiSaku. shut up. i don’t care for canon. this is IT. I’ve always thought that in n/aruto, if NS doesn’t happen, it’ll be SaiSaku. Or no pairing at all. As usual i’ve been a multi/saku shipper and ships the canon sakura pairing too, but for an endgame pairing, wouldn’t it be more realistic if it’s between either NS or saisaku? the development is there and it’s the most possible ones. But lets talk about saisaku now. she hated him at the start, but the moment they started to bond… it was just simple and beautiful. he’s someone who doesn’t understand human emotions that well, and she’s someone who is rich in that aspect. she tried teaching him about it thru books in the library and all despite her annoyance with how he tends to call her “ugly” every now and then. so while he was slowly learning, she’s been there all a long and automatically became the first person he tried and to successfully understand. remember that NS fake confession scene which everyone hates? it was him who told her to take action because she’s been wanting to do the “right” thing but just didnt have the courage to because letting go of s/asuke also means letting go a big part of her. sai understood that, but he also knew that she’s a strong person who would take things into her own hands if needs to. this paring could be platonic and all, but hey, im always a sucker for platonic relationships too. ;D

NaruIno. these two can be like the sunshine power couple. like literally everything is so bright for them, minus intellectually (but that can be worked on). but it would be so damn interesting. you can picture the dynamics of their relationship clearly. AND THEY LOOK SO GOOD TOGETHER. and even tho i used to ship her with sai, well.. after the ending… i just don’t like it when the development is lacking. like with this one tho, n/aruto and ino DID have real interactions together where they connected. from the first one, in that one filler ep where they had to do a disguise mission together. it’s just too cuteeeee. well i actually i dont mind them not being canon at all. just. they would so satisfy me.

Hirari/Botan. DO I EVEN NEED A REASON HERE? they’re connected through the red thread of fate. that’s all.

Tae-jun/Yona. hehhhh. i like their own developments in the series. both used to be spoiled children of important political people, but went thru life-changing moments that really changed their whole being to be better people and most importantly, better leaders for their people. like if there’s a second political arranged marriage in the series after everything else is settled, i’d like to see these two connect again. better that that, if it’s on free will. each as better human beings. they would be great rulers of kouka. but i know these two will probably will never be canon because of obvious reasons.

GokuHaru/5986. so much YES for this one. i do multiship haru too but like i always picture tsuna and kyoko getting together in the end because… well just because.  and then haru would be kyoko’s right hand, just like g/okudera is tsuna’s. these two would make a perfect team despite their differences. so yeahh out of all my haru ships, this one stays on top. heck i even got to the point of shipping their voice actors once lol.

SasuIsa. SO.DAMN.CUTE. i think i have something for shy guys in love hahaha. so isanami is like this one cheerful chick with a really out-of-control dark side, and he’s this loyal guy who loves animals. what else could be cuter than that? we always see a girl falling for cold guys or guys with a dark past or some shit like that, but it’s really refreshing when it’s the opposite.

AliKou. really shipped this hard last time, and still am. both are low-born royalties so they share this special connection between them. but the moment that made me felt like “OK THIS IS IT” was the flower crown scene. i know it’s about friendship and all, but no one can stop me from imagining for more. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The overly excited coach slipped her sandals off and ran onto the grainy yet soft sand. As for her team, they slugged right behind her as they died from the scorching heat. "How...does...she have..so much...energy??" Koganei sighed, dropping the cooler onto the ground as he fell to the ground. "I don't even know..." Tsuchida groaned as he walked after the coach with the speed of a sloth. Their coach's father had driven them to their destination and throughout the whole ride, he would glare daggers at the boys. "Make one move on my daughter and I'll shoot you." Was what his eyes seemed to say. This was also one of the reasons for the boys' exhaustion. "What are you guys standing there for?" Riko asked, her head slightly tilting to the side. "If you're not going to enjoy it, then I'll make you~" Her eyes sparkled as she brought out her clipboard from the bag way too big for her size was in. Quickly, the boys answered yes by nodding their heads or saying "yes, coach!" Or just doing a strange noise which she took as a yes. "Ugh...she's a devil..." Kagami groaned while placing the multiple bags he was holding onto the ground. "Coach might get mad if she heard you say that, Kagami-kun." Kuroko said, the drops of sweat on his forehead ready to fall like rain. "She already made me run on the beach for so many hours, made me even walk on my hands! What el—" The ace stopped when his red orbs focused on the older girl. She removed the white cover up she had been wearing and her dark shorts. Her swimsuit was different than before. It was pure white and actually smaller than the one she had worn before. This showed off a bit of her curves that had actually grown. Well, the growths were small, but they were noticeable. "—gami-kun? Kagami-kun??" Kuroko snapped the redhead back into reality by placing Nigou in front of his face. Kagami screamed, catching the attention of the whole team and a few strangers. "Kagami-kun, what w—ah! Nigou, you look so cute in your little hat!!" Riko squealed, forgetting all about Kagami's high-pitched scream. Kuroko held Nigou up like in the Lion King, causing Riko to chuckle. She stood on the tip of her toes and grabbed Nigou. "So cute~!" She hugged the little dog as she spun around. A small smile appeared on Kuroko's face when he saw Nigou's happy expression. "Let's go play in the water!" Riko shouted as she ran for the water. "Ah.." Kuroko held his hand out, but didn't have the heart to take back his dog just yet. He turned to Kagami who had an angry expression upon his face. "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT, KUROKO?!?" "You were too busy staring at Coach, so you didn't hear me. I was going—" "Huh?" "...what is it, Kagami-kun?" "I...I WASN'T STARING AT COACH!!" "Kagami-kun, you were." "I WASN'T!!" "But—" Obviously flustered, the ace walked over to a food booth, leaving the rest of the team surprised. "Was he really?" Furihata asked, blinking twice from the shock. "Huh?! K-Kagami is just like a kid! There's no way!!" Hyūga forced a laugh. "He was." Kiyoshi nodded while stroking his chin. Truthfully, Kuroko had noticed Kagami's attraction to their coach lately. However, whenever Kuroko would try to bring it up, Kagami would either be distracted with something else or he would completely deny it. "Let's just forget about that and find a spot!" Hyūga broke the short silence. Luckily, they found a good spot and easily set their things down. And so the team dispersed around the beach, some playing in the water, some heading to the booth where Kagami was eating pretty much everything that was edible, and some stayed under the umbrella while watching the waves or cute girls they saw walking around. Once Kagami had his fill (the booth ran out of ingredients and closed for the day cause he ate so much), looked around as he thought of what to do next. "Damn, it's hot...I guess I'll go in the water then." The redhead said to himself as he walked toward the shore. That's when he noticed a familiar girl in the water, hectically searching in the water. The boy stepped into the water, the waves cool against his skin. Really, it felt nice, but his focus at the moment was on Riko. "Coach?" Kagami called to the girl, who quickly looked up. "Ah! Kagami-kun! I need a favor!" "A favor?" "Well, I just need your help..Nigou's hat fell into the water and I'm searching for it.." Riko explained as she looked around once again. "Huh??" Kagami looked back to the spot the team had picked out on the beach and saw the phantom player drying off their little mascot. "C'mon help me look!" "Alright! I mean okay..." The two began to search and search... Finally, after a few minutes (which seemed like /forever/), Kagami pulled a soggy fabric from the water. "Is this it?" He asked, examining it from all sides. Riko's expression brightened, causing Kagami to blush a bit. "Yes! Good job, Kagami-kun!" She praised him as she threw her arms into the air. "Kagami-kun?" Riko asked, seeing that his expression went from happy to completely shocked. She felt a strong, cool wave hit her from behind, making her stumble. "That was surprising..." The coach shivered a bit from the sudden wave. "Ye—" "Kagami-kun?" "WHAT?!?? I— I DIDN'T MEAN TO LOOK— AHHHH!!!!!" The boy immediately covered his face and faced away. The coach looked down, noticing that her top was untied and floating around her stomach. In a split second, her whole face became engulfed in red. Riko kept her mouth shut and grabbed her top. She held the cloth tightly to her chest area. "I-I'm sorry!!" Kagami managed to stutter, his head still turned away and his face turning redder by each each second. "I-it's alright, that...just never mind." Riko let out a shaky sigh. 'How embarrassing.' The coach studied her surroundings. There were people all around her. How was she going to get through this? Hesitantly, Kagami walked closer to his coach, causing her to look up at him in surprise. Their faces were exploding in red. "B-Bakagami..!! What are you—" "C-coach..j-just walk behind me...I'll help you get to the beach so you can you know..." Kagami explained quietly. "Wha—?! I..." Riko looked around, completely flustered and clueless about what to do. "L-let me help you.." He said quietly as he faced in the direction of the shore. It wasn't like she had much of a choice, did she? Riko sighed, her cheeks becoming redder if possible. "T-thank you, Kagami-kun." She said softly as she began to walk right behind him. "No problem...c-coach." Riko was disappointed in herself that day for being so careless, but little did she know that she wasn't the only one. Kagami had also been careless and clueless that day, which led him to slowly fall for his coach.

send me five times kissed for a drabble about five times our muses kissed

The first time was an accident.

The smell of sweaty boys and deodorant made the air heavy as Riko made her way through the locker room, making sure there was nothing left behind. Instead she found her ace still lingering around although everyone else had left. Normally she would have shouted at him, to hurry up so she could close the place down. But this time she didn't and she wasn't sure why. 

He didn't say anything when she simply sat down next to him, still looking down at his now ruined sneakers. Maybe he hadn't even realized Riko was even there at all. Instead he toyed with with the destroyed soles, staring into space as his coach stared at him. There had always been some unspoken friendship between them, ever since he first placed his faith in her as his coach. But this day was different for reasons words couldn't describe. She inched closer to him, placing her hand on his knee. 

"I'll get you new ones." That sentence alone was enough to make him jolt into consciousness. He protested quickly, not wanting to owe her anything and she argued back, citing she wouldn't be responsible for an injured ace because of shitty sneakers. He tried to protest again but the words "her ace" bubbled in his mind and he couldn't speak again. Her ace. Was it because he was still unbroken that she was being this kind? He looked down at the hand on his knee.

"You can pay me back with another win." Her smile reassured him but it still didn't make any sense. He nodded, turning his gaze away from her once he realized he was staring. She smacked his back before popping up from her seat, announcing it was time that they go. He nodded again, standing up as well. But rather than turn away from her, he simply planted a kiss on the top of her forehead, something he had seen his old mentor do before. 

The two of them froze in shock at his action. Minutes passed before any sort of sense came back to them. It had felt so natural, as if Riko should have expected it in the first place and that scared her more. He opened his mouth to say something but she interrupted him, exclaiming that they should just forget it before hurrying off. 

A moment later, Kagami realized her hair smelt like honey and for a moment longer, the smell wouldn't leave him.

The second time was a misunderstanding. 

The moment in the locker room was long forgotten at this point or at least the two of them pretended it was. Not that there was much to say about it in the first place even if there were days were Kagami caught himself thinking of the smell of honey. Or how soft the color brown looked. Or wondering what other parts of her were soft.  Riko would yell at him for spacing out and things returned back to normal for the most part. 

But it was always the hardest when they were alone together. There were times when Kagami looked at Riko and she didn't look like his coach anymore. She wasn't like a normal girl that he was used to so he couldn't use that excuse. She simply looked different to him and he couldn't understand why. It didn't help the way she could place her hand on his arm and leave behind goosebumps. He was certain he was going to get sick this way. 

They were alone together again this time too, waiting at a bus stop together. Yet Riko was oddly quiet, not even taking the time to bother him about things he should improve on in his training and the like. Instead she was staring off at the direction of some giggling girls not too far away. And more than ever, he wished she could just look at him instead like she usually did. Wasn't he her ace? Shouldn't that mean something more?

His surprising train of thought was interrupted by her finally speaking up. "They're annoying for just staring at you like that." 

Wait they were looking at him? Kagami honestly hadn't even noticed, his attention being drawn elsewhere for most of the time. She continued on about how they looked at him like a piece of meat and he had to stop himself from asking how was that any different from the way she looked at him sometimes. 

"I don't really care about that though, Coach. Maybe they're just confused." To this Riko gave a loud huff, grabbing his collar to pull him down to her eye level. Her intentions were only just to stare him in the eye and talk him down some more. But her aim was off and not a moment later, his lips crashed against hers. She was quick to realize and tried to pull away but he was faster on the draw, holding her arm so he could stay against her lips for longer. 

Two more moments passed and he quickly pulled away, leaving a bewildered Riko to just gawk at him. His action didn't go unnoticed although it did go unexplained. Kagami merely covered his mouth much like Riko did and the two sat at the bus stop in silence broken only by the loud giggles of the girls not too far away. 

The taste of strawberries lingered in his mouth the entire way home. 

The third time was a confirmation.

Riko was graduating soon. All of the third years were graduating and were sure to leave a giant gap in the hearts of the younger ones. But her absence from the team was sure to be the hardest absence felt. She would reassure her team that they would be in capable hands. After all, her father would take over the position as coach while she was away at college and she learned everything from him. Who else to lead her boys in her absence? 

But that wasn't good enough for Kagami. Not that he had anything against Kagetora but he wasn't Riko. He was his coach. He couldn't be his ace like he was her ace. In all honesty, he didn't want to let her go. There wasn't going to be anyone else like her. No one to give him a kick in the ass when he needed it. No one to push him in the right direction and laugh when he didn't get it. The thought of her absence made his stomach churn.

Admittedly, it probably wasn't a good idea to confront her with this right before graduation. The moment he said his piece, her eyes began to well up with tears and he hated himself then. He tried to fix it, adding that it wasn't just about her being his coach. It was about her. About Riko. She blinked in surprise when he used her first name for the first time. It felt natural to him and it sounded natural to her.

She pulled him by the collar to kiss and he held her in place again. Maybe if they stayed that way for any longer, they would be melded together and she wouldn't have to leave him at all. 

The fourth time was in a haze.

Being with Riko was intoxicating and she could say the same for him. They had been together for a while now, through awkward confusing times and harsh angry times. He had stopped calling her coach nowadays, unless she asked him to of course. Although he much preferred to call her by her name especially with his lips pressed against her skin and in such desperation. She called him by his first name too especially when she dug her nails into his back. 

For once, she was underneath him, her chest heaving from being so out of breath. She was suffocating in their shared heat and all he could do was watch her. In these private moments, she could look so small that all he wanted to do was hold her in his arms and protect her. To kiss down her heaving chest and feel her heart race because of him. 

"I love you Riko." He whispered as he leaned over her, pressed into her. 

"Just fuck me, Taiga." She sighed, covering her face, "...Love you too just get on with it!" 

He smirked to himself, noting how much nicer she was being. Clearly he was doing something right. He leaned over to capture her lips with his again, wrapping his arms around her waist. She moaned into his mouth and he relished in her taste again.

The fifth time was a goodbye. 

She wanted to grow old with him. As a younger woman, the idea of that would have disgusted her. But Riko was no longer a young woman and no longer that teenage girl who gawked up at Kagami back in high school. Instead, when she looked in the mirror, she could see lines and valleys carve into her once youthful even. She still looked younger than she should have but that youthful vibrance was waning now. And strangely enough she didn't mind it. 

In the morning, she would pick at her face as Kagami walked up behind her, lazily wrapping his arm around her as he brushed his teeth. He would always watch as she went through her usual morning routine and she would always let him. No words were spoken not that any were really needed. This sort of silence was comfortable for the both of them. 

"Hey. You know I love you, right?" Riko raised an eyebrow at the sudden confession from him. 

"No shit. I couldn't tell with the ring or the flowers or the kid we share." She could feel his body shudder as he laughed at her remark.

"But I don't say it enough. I want to say it more."

"Fine fine, you sap. I love you too, Taiga." This seemed to make him happy and he turned her around so he could kiss her. The smell of aftershave and her honey scented lotion was almost too much for them. Nevertheless, she kissed him back, longer than she normally would have. And he held her there, as if wanting to be molded into her again. But she pushed him away, shooing him so they could go get off to work and send their kid to school. He added a promise that they would go home together this time and she laughed and agreed.

That night neither one went home.

The next night she returned home alone. 

Doctors said there was a 50/50 chance he could make it but she didn't want to hear that. She wanted to grow old with him. To have grandchildren with him. To be bitter about younger people with him. To kiss him again. 

She would kiss him again although past his scarred lips and damaged self-esteem. But she promised to grow old with him and kiss him until they were old again. Even when he shook in the middle of the night. Even when other people stared in pity at him, wondering how burn scars could look so bad. Even when he yelled at her to just leave him alone to rot. She would kiss him. She kept her hand on his knee as he pressed his face into her hair, trying not to show his own weakness around her.

Her honey scented hair smelt like home. And that was all he needed.

"Kagami…" Riko started nervously, somewhat unlike her usual self. She tugged at the hem of her shirt as she struggled to get the words out.  

"Yeah?" Kagami asked, still tending to the meat he was grilling for dinner. He flipped expertly, like he always does being the excellent cook he is. He didn’t seem to notice the change in Riko’s behaviour.

"I…" Riko stammered, watching Kagami’s back as he cooked. She paused, wondering if the news she was going to tell him was going to make him run away. 

"Dinner’s ready!" Kagami exclaimed happily, serving the dishes of his hardwork. He set the table quickly, and sat down across Riko to tuck in.

"Why aren’t you eating?" Kagami asked, his mouth already full.

"Kagami, I’m pregnant," Riko blurted out suddenly. The spoon Kagami held halfway to his mouth fell, and he stared at his partner in utter shock.

"W-What?"

Riko took a deep breath. She expected this. They were still young; not even married. Kagami still wanted to go to US, and play basketball at a national level. No matter in a coach’s or girlfriend’s point of view, this was going to tie him down. She didn’t want to do that to him, either.

"I thought you should know," Riko continued, somewhat calmly, although she felt like she was on the verge of tears despite herself. "I know it came too soon, and you have plans. It’s okay, I’d explain to my parents somehow…you don’t have to worry. You can go."

Kagami stared at her like she was crazy. What was she saying?

He got up from his seat and enveloped Riko in a hug. 

"What are you talking about? Since when was I leaving?"

The tears she held back fell from shock. 

"It doesn’t matter where I go or what I want to do — all that matters is that I am with you. I’m beyond happy that I’m going to be a father. And there is no way I’m leaving you no matter what. We can get married, start family, and I can get a normal job and play basketball as a hobby. I may not be the best husband or father, but I just want to be with you.” 

Kagami muttered softly, holding her tight in his embrace, meaning every single word he said.

"Kagami you baka,” Riko mumbled into his chest. She was beyond touched, that he was willing to be with her, so simply. “I never knew you were capable of such embarrassingly sweet confessions.”

Kagami felt his face flamed, upon realization what he just said. He had somewhat, proposed, to her. 

"You didn’t just propose without a ring, did you, bakagami?" Riko smirked slightly, as she pulled back to face the blushing male.

"Ahhh, why do you have to make things so hard for me, even now?" Kagami buried his head in her lap.

"I love you, bakagami."

"I love you too," he said, placing a tentative kiss on her abdomen, for their child.
