Thank you Holly! Sorry it took so long.

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

Well for DA I have plans on finishing my modern college AU fic Dear Fen'harel, which I feel like is this fic most people know me for, lol It's been like four years since I started it and it's so close! I would have finished it earlier if it hadn't been for this school year honestly.

I also want to finish up my Solas/Cadash fic, Thick as Thieves because that one is getting close too and I've been dying to write the sequel for it for a long time.

Then I have my TFA AU Reylo fic that has been sitting for so long people have been asking me if its abandoned >.> In this one, Rey leaves Jakku before TFA to work as a technician and she keeps getting dragged into cleaning up the messes Kylo Ren makes in his temper tantrums while she befriends an unmasked Kylo, having no idea who he is.

And THEN I have my "Goblin fic" as my friends call it, which is fic for an obscure book series called The Hollow Kingdom where the protagonist has to fight off a Goblin king who intends to kidnap and marry her. Spoiler alert -- it's very enemies to lovers and they do get married and the fic is an insight to the early days of their marriage.

2. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project

I am DYING to finish Dear Fen'harel, now that we are finally at the point where all the juicy reveals are going to happen. I've been waiting for this moment for like FIVE YEARS.

18. (My choice!) Do any of your stories have alternative versions? (plotlines that you abandoned, AUs of your own work, different characterisations?) Tell us about them.

Dear Fen'harel has a few, lol. I have written some absolute filth for Zevran and Ellana because I got blindsided by their chemistry even though they aren't supposed to get together at all, ooops. That's called Something Good Can Work.

There is an AU for Ellana/Abelas where she house sits for Solas and Abelas crashes the party because he lost his job and is bumming off Solas now. They have only a handful of scenes together in DF but I've always enjyoed writing their subtle kinship being two Dalish elves alone and away from home, despite their very obvious differences.

And I really want to write out an AU for Solas/Dorian because I also got hooked in their friendship and shared history in this fic.

Thick as Thieves has a high school AU that I wrote and loved that kind of spawned an ot4 with @cartadwarfwithaheartofgold's Maria and Varric that exists exclusively in a google doc that I also write in when I'm bored.

It’s rare to see Cadash in Skyhold’s gardens and even rarer to see Sera there. The elf only came to such a peaceful place to play a prank, but tonight... tonight she’s there at Cadash’s behest, doing her absolute best not to do anything untoward to any of the relics sitting there unattended.

Though if the Chantry mother arrives the following morning to find two of the smaller statues in a compromising position, Sera certainly shouldn’t be blamed. They were just asking for it.

When Cadash finally arrives, wrapping her arms around Sera’s waist and pressing a gentle kiss to her exposed shoulder, Sera’s glad for the distraction. She crosses her arms over her stomach to put her hands on Cadash’s arms, squeezing gently to let the dwarf know that the gesture is welcomed.

“Hey, you,” Sera says, but that’s all she manages to force out before Cadash is turning her, pulling her face down for a searing kiss that makes Sera’s insides quake and her toes curl under the assault. She grabs Cadash tightly, pulling the smaller, stronger body tightly against her own.

Cadash is exactly at the right height to press her face against Sera’s breasts. Usually, she ignores that convenient fact, but today... today she’s going to take full advantage of it.

22) If you could have a superpower what would it be? Precognition, or the ability to send letters to my past self. Or flight would be pretty good too. But I think precognition would be the best one.

I have a few quotes that I think of quite often. The first is this mantra I found online:

The second one is rather long, it’s something my dad used to describe my granddad. I really want to live up to it.

33) Paperback books or hardcover books? Hardcover’s more durable and I’m pretty rough with my books.

39) What’s the first book/film that really counted to you? The Empty Pot, a beautifully illustrated childrens book that I loved. Or James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small, something my dad would read to me all the time.

41) If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Bruges, Amsterdam, Prague, Montana, the Oregon coast, and to an active volcano. 

42) If you had any job in the world, what would it be? I would paint murals or build stained glass for LDS temples. 

43) If you were granted three wishes, what would they be? A clear knowledge of what life decisions would make me the happiest, faster than light space travel, and I’d find someone smarter than me to make my last wish. 

44) If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Lasagna soup. It’s so good. 10/10 would recommend.

47) What’s your favorite food discourse guilty pleasure? Ketchup goes in the fridge, not the pantry. 

48) (Ash’s question) is there something that you regret not doing, or a chance you regret not taking? what is it and why do you regret it? A long time ago there was someone in my ward asking for volunteers to help mentally disabled kids on Sundays. I didn’t volunteer because I was scared, and I thought I wouldn’t do a good job. And maybe that’s true, but I think God would have given me the capacity to do it if I had just tried.

Also, about two weeks ago I found an open door to one of the tunnels deep underground on BYU campus. I went in, but I heard footsteps and left rather quickly. I regret not exploring it more because I don’t think I’m going to find another open door anytime soon.

Post Souls Made of Dreams Fluff/Baby Talk

“Uhm. I have a question.” Kate glances up at Alistair’s stammer, eyebrows drawing together in concern even before she sees the way his cheeks are darkening. “Do you–are we–uhm.” He falters again, so Kate puts her book down and reaches out to take his hand.

“What’s wrong?” she asks. “Did I do something?”

He shakes his head, fast, then again to reassure her. “No, no. I just– I realized something today, and, uh–” he squints at her as though that will make her figure out what he’s thinking.

It doesn’t.

“Your courses,” he finally spits out, speaking so quickly that Kate doesn’t realize what he’s asking until he’s finished. “You haven’t had one since we got here, and I hadn’t thought about it before, but now I am, and I didn’t know if, if there was a reason?” His voice cracks a little and he clears his throat.

Kate blinks at him for a moment before she accidentally giggles. “Are you asking if I’m pregnant?”

Alistair wrinkles his nose and nods.

“No,” she says, and tilts her head to the side when Alistair’s face actually falls a bit. “I have an–well, you won’t know what it is since they don’t have them here. I have a thing that stops me from getting pregnant, but it also stops my periods.”

“A thing?” Alistair echoes. “Is it… permanent?”

Kate shakes her head. “It’s supposed to come out after I’ve had it for five years or when I want to get pregnant.” Alistair nods once in understanding, but she narrows her eyes at him. “Were you… hoping I was pregnant? Or were you worried I was pregnant?”

Alistair shrugs with one shoulder. “Grey Wardens aren’t supposed to be able to have children.”

“I know,” Kate says, “but that isn’t what I asked.”

He tugs her closer to him by the hand still clutched in his, and she slides across the bed to rest her head against her name on his bare chest. He takes a deep breath, and she listens to the beating of his heart under his skin.

“I thought I would always be alone,” he finally says, and her heart seizes. “When your name showed up… I guess I hadn’t thought about it until now, but… I suppose I was. Hoping, I mean.”

Kate sighs and snuggles closer. “Why don’t we get the taint cured and then we can talk about it?” It isn’t a conversation she wants to have, even dancing around the issue is making the old anxiety well up in her chest, but Alistair squeezes her a little tighter before she feels him nod.

“Of course,” he says, and there’s a hint of a laugh in his voice. “Of course.”

They’ve been back in Skyhold for a few weeks when Kate starts to feel something unfamiliar blooming in her chest. Corypheus is defeated, Solas has disappeared, Hawke has made herself at home in Skyhold with Cullen even though she frequently goes on trips without him, and Kate and Alistair have been given their own suite in the Keep.

It’s become their home, and Cadash made it clear that they’re welcome to stay as long as they want. Kate starts researching again, working alongside Dagna this time, and Alistair is working with the troops to help them train alongside Cullen.

It feels… safe. Homey. And it takes Kate a few days to realize what she’s been feeling.

She blurts it out over breakfast.

“I think we should have a baby,” she says, and Alistair actually drops his fork with a clatter back onto his plate.

Kate blushes furiously, but Alistair’s face is stretching into the widest, brightest smile she’s ever seen.

“Yeah?” he says, and he stands to walk to her side of the table. He pulls her out of her seat despite her squawk of protest and lifts her up to kiss her.

“I didn’t mean right this second,” she laughs, but Alistair’s already carrying her back to their bedroom, unrestrained glee written all over his face.

“It wouldn’t hurt to get started,” he replies, and drops her onto the mattress when she starts to laugh.

“This was a terrible idea,” Kate groans, curling into a ball on her side. Alistair pets her hair softly, smoothing it out of her face. “I feel sick.”

“I’m sorry,” he murmurs. “Do you want some of that tea?”

She opens one eye and nods pitifully, her lower lip sticking out just a little. It would be adorable if he didn’t feel guilty. He kisses her forehead and leaves the room to make the tea the healer recommended for the nausea that seems to plague Kate all day.

He prays over the tea to whoever’s listening–Andraste or the god that Kate prays to–that she’ll start feeling better soon. He hates seeing her like this, hates that she always looks so miserable.

He sighs when he hears the unmistakable sound of Kate getting sick from the other room and finishes making the tea anyway. She’ll need it.

Duncan Alistair comes screaming into the world in the middle of a sunny summer afternoon. Kate cries and Alistair cries, and they hold their baby as all three of them cry together.

Though he’s far from the first baby to be born in Skyhold since Corypheus fell, he’s the first to receive a personal visit from the Inquisitor and a carefully stitched winged nug from Krem.

The nug makes Kate cry all over again, though it’s hard for her to explain why.

She’s just never been happier.

They teach Duncan to walk between them in the garden, toddling along the soft grass with a wide grin. He’s dark haired and chubby, always laughing, and perfectly healthy despite his parents’ near-constant worry.

He’s doted on even as the inner circle all seem to find other places to live and work. Sera travels with the Jennies, but always brings baby Duncan a present when she returns. Some Kate has to confiscate until he’s older, but he always perks up when he sees his Auntie Sera.

“Didja hear that, buckles?” she laughs after the first time Kate calls her his aunt. “I’m an auntie!”

She’s never looked more proud.

Skyhold is nearly empty, all of the remaining inner circle and the Inquisitor away in Halamshiral once again, when Kate gives Alistair an exhausted, irritated look.

“I’m mad at you,” she says, and he immediately drops his mouth open in shock.

“Me?” he asks. “What could I possibly have done since I saw you this morning?”

Kate’s eye twitches as she tries not to laugh. “It wasn’t today. It was more like… oh, eight weeks ago?”

She waits as Alistair’s mind mulls over the clue and really does start to laugh when he sits down hard on their bed.

“Again?” he asks, but he doesn’t sound put out at all, not like she was. He reaches out and grabs her hips, pulling her the few steps that separate them until he can rest his face against her stomach. She pets the top of his head, carding her fingers through his hair, as he hugs her. “You don’t want it?” his voice sounds very, very small, and she hugs him tighter too.

“Of course I do,” she says. “I just wish it had waited a few more… years.” She tilts his head up so she can kiss him. “Are you happy?”

His smile is almost heartbreaking. “I’ve never been happier.”

Oliver Tabris comes into the world during a snowstorm in the dead of winter. The first words he hears are his mother’s curses and vows to never let this happen again, but he doesn’t seem to care. He’s strong and he screams and his father cries when he holds him in his arms.

The same day that Oliver is born, already with a smudgy soul mark on his back that’s impossible to read, Duncan’s appears on his forearm. “Samuel,” it reads, and Alistair cries again.

The Inquisition is officially disbanded after Halamshiral, but Kate and Alistair and their children are allowed to stay. Kate still works with Dagna, officially, but unofficially she’s one of the advisors working alongside Spymaster Harding.

It isn’t the life Kate thought she’d have growing up, and it isn’t the life she thought she’d have when she woke up in Skyhold years ago, but it’s one she’d never give up for a moment.

As long as she can keep Solas from destroying Thedas, as long as she can keep her boys safe, she’ll be happy.
