absolutely simping for your yandere raven guard boys, they honestly make me feel so much better after a rough day. 😭
i did want to ask on how they'd react to their dove having really bad social anxiety and trust issues? they've had bad experiences in the past so they keep their emotions well guarded, but get past the layers and they're really devoted and affectionate. or at least try to be affectionate.
like a little thing i imagine is Dove wanting to hold one of their hands, but is super nervous about it because, "wait, what if they hate affection? what if i come off as awkward or annoying?" just a bunch of what if's and all that. feel free to delete this ask if it's too much- at the end of it all i just want to let you know how much i appreciate the raven bois. <3
Its very funny given how I've made Dove to be an activist and to be outgoing. But I like the thought....
Of course once everything got going the boys would make sure Dove was always safe and know that they always were up for her affection... Sor even making it a point to be "overly" affectionate with her to let her know that her touches were wanted.
But I can imagine poor Dove seeing Sor actually relaxing for once and she wants to ask him something but wait... Sor usually rarely talks... always clipped short words or sentences making sure that whatever he said was only really important and when he did talk for awhile it was only to his brothers in high gothic. Practically ignoring that she was around... She is so caught up in her own head she doesn't see how his black eyes are watching her from his peripheral as he just watches her mentally crumble before slinking off.
Moremo was always open but Dove notices he's been so busy since her ex left... oh she would be only a bother... and then when she sees Kazi training with such a serious look on his face she feels before he can put on his normally sweet smile for her.
It's Sor that finds her in her dark little corner with her knees against her forehead as she is just hiding and lost in her own thoughts that she can't help but scream when she sniffles and lifts her head only to see Sor suddenly there.
"You're upset." He says softly.
"I'm just-"
"I can smell you... you've been a walking scent ball of anxiety. Made it easy to find you." He says as if it was obvious.
"Thank you?"
"No it's- never mind. Why are you anxious?"
Dove muttered how she just wanted to talk to him... maybe hold his hand because sure she's held Kazi's hand and Moremo's... she hasn't held his yet.
Sor let out a rare soft smile as she could feel his hand gently embrace hers, "You don't need to ask Dove. I might not... say as much as Kazi can fill the air... nor as well as Moremo can... but I can at least try."
Dove felt herself blush as she just leaned against his muscular arm and that's all she could ask for... was being told that she was allowed into their world even if it was just this tiny little sliver. That's all she could want.

rayllum week 2023
prompt: flowers
rated t, 2k
He probably doesn’t remember, and honestly…it’s okay.
She doesn’t blame him.
She’d decided that this morning, after the toppled pile of books and the rushed apology she’d woken up to.
“Sorry, Rayla! And, uh…morning!”
Callum’s steps had stuttered towards her, and even with sleep crusties and too much sunlight in her eyes, she’d still gotten a little swoony over that dorky-cute smile flashed in her direction, the bedhead he hadn’t even sorted out yet, that over-eager enthusiasm all over his everything…but then he’d turned away instead of coming closer. He’d jumped right back into sorting the books that he and Kazi had clearly been pulling off the shelves for at least an hour or two already, and she couldn’t deny she’d been a little disappointed—
“This pile’s for Aaravos, that one’s for the coins, and…let’s start a Sky magic stack, just because.”
—but she really couldn’t begrudge him that.
There were plenty of more important things to worry about besides her birthday, after all.
Anyway, she’d only mentioned it…what? Once? When they’d been sleep-deprived on the back of that ambler, pretending like they were listening to each other’s answers to five-, then twenty-questions, rather than just staring at each other’s lips, hardly keeping from kissing again?
But then, he’d mentioned it once too, on the road back to the Nexus, wondering aloud if—
If they’d be back to Katolis in time for their birthdays.
Even if he does remember…nothing is just about what she deserves anyway, as far as birthdays with Callum go, Rayla resolves when the morning passes without a word about it.
She spends the day stewing like that—excusing herself when Callum’s dumb, adorable face makes the regret too much to handle, trying to distract herself with patrolling and target practice, avoiding the reproachful looks from Amaya she’s been getting since they’d gotten here yesterday that she knows she deserves but really, really doesn’t need.
It’s dusk when she heads back inside, but research stretches on until nightfall, and she spends the difference talking herself out of the downward spiral that’d convinced her Callum was too hurt still to even bring up birthdays, let alone have any interest in acknowledging hers. Her head stops spinning—finally—once she and Stella retreat to their little corner of the abandoned Bookery, though.
Judging by the height of the pile that Callum had stacked there beside his bedroll—Sky magic books, she guesses—he’s been busy…and that’s all the reassurance she needs.
He just…doesn’t realize it’s her birthday, she tells herself again, like she had this morning. Clearly, he just has—they just have—a lot going on.
With the moon new, it’s dark enough that even she strains and squints to read the spines of the books, wondering to herself as she looks at the stack if she should tell him or not.…until familiar footsteps bring some firelight to their little not-quite camp.
“You have quite a collection going here, mage,” she chuckles, kneeling by his books, the light letting her confirm that, yes, this whole pile was Callum’s personal Sky magic stack. “Think you might need to send a few of these home to—oh.”
…and she doesn’t need to tell him, apparently, if the fistful of flowers and the smile on his face mean what she thinks they mean.
“It’s your birthday,” Callum starts, setting down the lantern to free a hand to hold out…and she exhales.
She thinks she hides the tingling wave of calm that comes with Callum reaching for her and knows she hides the relieved tears that prickle—just a bit—in her eyes, easily blinking them away before she even puts her hand in his.
“It is,” she says, just a hint of a snicker in her answer. Rayla smiles as she leans into his warm steady hand to stand…and that’s almost familiar again—the brief shows of support, the fleeting moments of comfort, the gentle reminders that he’s there for her. She almost leaves her hand there, covered completely by his, her thumb drifting to his wrist…but lingering like that was uncertain territory still since she’d been back. She remembers how surprised he’d been at her head on his shoulder and how stiff he’d been the whole time on her shadowpaw…so she pulls away and points to the flowers in his other hand instead, each bloom the same vibrant red. “What are these?”
“Uh…orchids, I think?” He examines them himself, peering down at the little bouquet held between them then tilting them to her, holding them out til the soft petals brush her hand. “I guess Sunfire elves do a lot of flowers, so when I told Kazi I needed a gift for you…”
“You told them?” she asks, fingertips brushing his as she takes the flowers by the stems, knowing no one else would’ve had a reason to know about her birthday if Callum didn’t mention it, wondering if anyone else had known all day.
“Just them. I asked them to keep it to themself.” Callum explains, haste in his voice, and Rayla looks up from fiddling with a leaf, realizing that her doubt might have read as displeasure. “You were…quiet this morning, so I thought maybe that was best?”
“We’re busy,” she nods. That’d been the right move, she thinks, even if she’d spent the day assuming the worst, and she squashes the urge to touch him as extra assurance that he’d done the right thing. A big deal about her birthday after what she’d done to him on his, would’ve been…not great. Her eyes fall back to the flowers, and she shuffles her weight to her other foot. “Plus, everyone’s kind of very not happy with me so—”
Rayla stops when his hand slips into hers, lifting her head and finding Callum staring at her sweet and sincere as ever—
“I’m happy with you,” he says, eyes half-lidded, smile sideways.
He’s leaning in, she thinks, paralyzed in place, knowing her mouth is hanging open, knowing she’s looking at his lips…but then the sideways smile there breaks to a wide grin and he repeats himself, squeezing her hand tight enough to snap her out of it.
“And it’s your birthday!” Callum exclaims, and then—
He starts singing, with his own special…Callum-ness that she’s sure isn’t actually a part of the Katolis birthday song.
Right out the gate, she has to bite her lip to stifle her laughter down to a giggle at the silly, dumb dance moves he’s clearly just making up to make her smile, and she almost loses it at the dramatic flourish he adds to the third birthday. Too quickly, the song is over, though, and she’s about to teasingly clap for him—
—but then his lips are on her cheek.
It takes longer than she cares to admit for her to grasp that it’d just been the wishes and kisses and laughter and love he’d just sung about that’d made him kiss her, and she covers the spot where his lips had been in the meantime, not quite knowing what else to do. There was no point in hiding her wide eyes or flushed cheeks, obviously, she realizes, especially seeing how satisfied Callum seemed with her response to his little performance.
“That…that was the—”
“Katolis birthday song,” Callum nods, grinning, and takes the flowers from her hands, leaving them on a table before cheerily pulling her to a spot without books underfoot, “and there’s a dance I’m supposed to learn, right?”
…and her pounding heart falls.
“Callum—” she starts, the words in her letter as fresh as the night she’d written them—for the both of them, apparently—and she swallows thickly, reminded again of all it had—how she had—ruined between them.
Callum shakes his head before she can say more, though, eyes soft and reassuring, and—
—it’s…okay, apparently.
“We’re not missing any more birthdays, alright?” he says, more unbothered than she can understand, easily putting a stop to the spiral she’d spent the day on with a final squeeze before he drops her hands and gestures to the open space around them.
It just takes a blink and a breath, and she follows suit, moving forward.
“Okay, well,” she starts, looking around, considering where to begin. “It works better with more people, but—”
“I can go get the others if you want?” Callum asks with a shrug, a thumb pointed over his shoulder…and she shakes her head in immediate answer, uninterested in spending her birthday with anyone but him.
“No, no, just—uh…just us is fine.” Showing him is obviously the answer, so Rayla presses on his shoulders to switch their spots. “The birthday elf—uhh, person—is supposed to be in the middle, and you kind of dance around them, so…belated birthday dance to demonstrate?”
Her proposition comes with an apologetic smile—she’d meant to make it back to the castle in time for his 17th—and he nods, everything about his answer soft, silent forgiveness.
She spends her first round humming music she hasn’t heard in ages, the second naming the steps as she goes, the third telling him the counts.
By her fourth, she hardly even blushes when the chain of turns at the end of the dance brings them nose-to-nose, close enough to kiss, which was kind of the point when your lover was a part of the dance, but…
She shouldn’t…so she doesn’t.
“Okay,” he says as she comes in close again. “I think I’ve got it.”
“Yeah?” She grins at the head-rush of his breath on her cheek before smoothly spinning away…except that she can’t, because Callum’s caught her hands again and uses her momentum to take her place.
“Eh…mostly?” he shrugs, before drawing a dramatic breath and setting himself up like she had at the start, his leg outstretched at something like the angle she’d shown him. She counts while he copies her, his memory accurate…even if the execution is a little off.
Really, though, considering the swaying in place that Katolis called dancing she’d seen those couple of weeks in the castle…he does pretty great, she thinks, tickled at him so attentive to learning something so familiar to her.
He starts that last series of turns that she knows will bring him in close, and she knows she shouldn’t kiss him kiss him…but he’d gotten her cheek earlier, hadn’t he?
“You’ve got it,” she nods after her lips leave his soft face, stomach fluttering at finding him almost as surprised and flushed as she’d been, then moves on just as quickly as he had. “Then usually you do it again—it’s supposed to be eighteen times for an eighteenth birthday—but kind of…rotate around? If there’s more than one dancer, that is.”
“Eighteen Moonshadow Birthday Dances, coming right up!” Callum says, determinedly setting up for another round. The steps flow, one into the next, a little better this second time, and she tells him so as he starts spinning in towards her again…but he pouts in answer instead of giving her another melty smile like the first time. “What…no kiss this time?”
And no way was she going to pass up that invitation.
Of course, she appeases him before grinning and sending him on his way, singing the tune now—on to a third, and fourth, and fifth repetition—each finished with her lips pressed to his cheek.
By his eighteenth time through, he has the pattern down pat. He hums along with her, even, and, of course, finishes the turns with his beaming face tilted to the side, welcoming her kiss like she’d worried he never would again.
…and she wonders about that last wish she’d had for Callum’s fifteenth birthday.
He’s done dancing now, and still just as close, still reaching for her.
“Happy birthday,” he says, leaning in again…and she’s just as still and speechless as before.
Her eyes flutter, her tongue wets her lips, her breath falls on his cheek, and he crashes into her, his arms locked around her waist, his heartbeat against her chest—
…his hug warm and tight and close.
…and that’s okay too.

ALLI!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON FINISHING IYASIF 🥳!!!!!
I have absolutely LOVED reading this series and I am so happy that you've shared it with us! It's definitely a series that I'll be revisiting forever and it's certainly a favourite of mine 💙!
My favourite parts (so far) include the firework scene (I love the effort that Wolffe was putting in to try to show Kazi how much she means to him then how she sees him in a vulnerable state), Wolffe sitting watching Kazi swim after Aro had assaulted her (I am a forever lover of how protective Wolffe is of Kazi 🤌 and I could GO ON FOREVER about it!), Neyti talking for the first time despite how sad her reason is (also where she calls Kazi her mum in her muse!!!!), and lastly, I was seriously cheering Kazi on for her first time having sex with Wolffe (I was sitting so proud that she let him get that close to her you have NO idea, I was like a proud mama hen 🥰)
While I've fallen behind, I can't wait to find more favourite parts in the coming chapters and I'm going to really miss reading IYASIF for the first time 💙!
I also need you to know that I love how you characterise all of the characters, I love their motivations and personalities !! (Fox was a favourite who snuck up on me 🥰)
Last but not least, I have some questions!
What have you enjoyed the most about writing IYASIF?
From my own writing I have redrafted plot points and outcomes so many times so, did IYASIF look different when you were first writing it?
That last question in your list is calling to me! How much of yourself and your life experiences have made it into IYASIF?
Out of all the characters, who is your favourite, to write or to read (if that gives a different answer)?
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I Yearn, and so I Fear Fic Celebration
Maia! Thank you!
You've included some of my favorite scenes (and I'm SO HAPPY you've liked them, too!)! If you like the fireworks scene, you might enjoy an upcoming scene, even if it is super short :) I, too, am a lover of protective Wolffe and him sitting there, watching Kazi, tired from lack of sleep, needing to check on her because, even though they're still becoming friends, he cares about her - something about that scene sits right with me. I'm surprised you mentioned Neyti speaking for the first time! It's an emotional moment, for me haha, and such a pivotal moment, so I'm glad you like it! And Kazi and Wolffe's first time! That was such a meaningful scene to me! All of the trust building from so many months (and so many chapters) and Wolffe's consistent patience and Kazi taking another step forward in trusting him - it all meant so much to me. Thank you for sharing your favorite scenes, I really appreciate it! (And I'm ecstatic knowing you liked the characterizations! Fox snuck up on me, too. And he did the same with Kazi haha.)
What have you enjoyed the most about writing IYASIF?
Seeing each chapter take on its final version. I am so critical of my work, and I think I've mentioned before how I won't reread things I've written because I can't stomach my old writing. But the final version of each chapter in this fic has surprised me. I find myself rereading sections when people reblog and I smile, or I chuckle, or I feel giddy. It's such a unique experience for me; I've never felt this way about a fic I've written. I wanted to give up on various occasions but I'm glad I didn't, because seeing this in its final form has been a comfort. So, I think that's what I've enjoyed the most, seeing this in final form and being proud of my writing.
From my own writing I have redrafted plot points and outcomes so many times so, did IYASIF look different when you were first writing it?
Yes! I wrote an entire outline with specific scenes for 32 chapters last May and June, and then I wrote my first draft immediately after. And then I wrote another draft. And then I started working on individual chapters and tinkering/editing/revising/rewriting them in December and throughout the posting schedule (I consider that my third draft, however, most chapters in Parts III and IV had five different drafts because I kept editing/rewriting them).
Most of the overall story remained the same: Kazi and Wolffe's relationship/individual arcs, Kazi and Daria's relationship/individual arcs; Kazi and Neyti's relationship/individual arcs; Fox's story arc.
A few things that significantly changed:
Originally, Aro was supposed to be a rebel leader. He was a questionable leader, set on destroying the Empire but willing to hurt anyone during the process, and he had an obsession with Kazi. To the point that he blackmailed her into a "relationship" with him. I scratched this entire plotline because it was too much for me. I've explored the dark writing in A New Tomorrow (which I believe you've read, so you probably know what I'm talking about) and I could not stomach writing something dark like that again. So, I removed that plotline during my outlining process in May and decided to make Aro a megalomaniac Empire sympathizer.
Along those lines, Moff Harpy was supposed to play a minor role in the story. During the first draft, I wrote in a few scenes where Kazi interacts with Moff Harpy. (It's Harpy who created a clone assassin lab and was also obsessed with tracking down traitorous clones.) However, it felt like too much. I didn't want this story to focus on the clone assassins/the Empire as much. I wanted to emphasize how normal, ordinary people are trying to survive under Imperial rule (I took inspiration from The Kite Runner) and bringing in Moff Harpy made the story too focused on trying to defeat the Empire rather than exploring what it would be like to live under a fascist government. I love stories that get into the nitty gritty about taking down the Empire, but I wanted to do something different here.
I don't want to spoil things but Daria and Cody's relationship was not in the first draft. (I get into this in a Behind the Scenes XIV, but I'll explain it here, too.) In my outline, I intended Daria and Cody to explore a relationship together. I thought their personalities matched well, and that they would be good for one another. However, I thought that readers would find it cringey that two commanders chose the two sisters. So, in my first draft, I wrote Daria having a relationship with Nova. It was AWFUL. I was forcing Nova to be someone he wasn't, and the chemistry between him and Daria was lacking. In the second draft, I said "fuck it" and rewrote Cody into the relationship with Daria. And I'm so glad I reverted to my original idea because they were such a delight to explore. (I also have delusional thoughts about writing their own fic as a companion piece to this haha.)
Those were the major changes to the story. But Parts III and IV had significant changes in each chapter between drafts 2 and 3. I'm glad that I wrote the first two drafts because it helped me decide what to include, what to remove, and what needed to be added. I felt like each draft allowed me to dive deeper into the story, the characters, the themes. And if it hadn't been for draft 1, then I never would've written the Muses! And if it hadn't been for draft 2, then I would've never dug deeper into Fox and Nova's characters! Both of whom surprised the hell out of me! Cody was a given - I actually spent so much time writing a character document for him (because I'm that person) - and didn't change much between the drafts, but Fox and Nova did! Anyway, I believe Chapters XVII through the Epilogue are all fairly different from their first versions. There are some consistencies (such as Chapter XXII being about sex, Chapter XIV being about Kazi's breakdown, Chapter XXV being about the winter holiday) but most of the scenes were drastically rewritten! And the last two chapters weren't even written because I kept telling myself I wouldn't do them justice until I was 100% sure of all the chapters leading up to them (which ended up being true).
Oh, I also had a few more smut scenes in draft 2 but I wanted to focus more on the emotional side of things rather than the physical (and I get afraid that I can't write smut well) so I removed quite a few smut scenes. I was afraid that readers might give up on the story without the additional smut, but I'm glad I made that decision.
That last question in your list is calling to me! How much of yourself and your life experiences have made it into IYASIF?
Oof, you're calling me out 😅
Honestly, I view IYasIF as a therapy project. Kazi is a direct reflection of me, my insecurities, my struggles with romantic relationships, my fears of abandonment and not being enough. Her storyline about sex and her discomfort and insecurity with it draws from my own experiences. Maybe this is embarrassing, I don't know, but writing her story was a way for me to acknowledge my insecurities, fears, and fearful-avoidant attachment style; it was a way for me to see a female character like myself [someone who isn't curvy or outgoing; someone who is aloof, and cold, and heartless (and yes, I've been called heartless by friends, in a joking way but it still stuck)] be loved, to actually be attractive to a male character. So Kazi is a reflection of myself.
As to life experiences: Kazi's resentment against her mother draws from my own experiences. Many of her conversations with Daria about marriage and loneliness and settling are conversations I've had multiple times throughout my life. Kazi's strong relationship with her father is also based on my own (my dad isn't dead, though). Her relationship with Daria draws from my relationship with my sister and how we struggled for many years (to the point that I despised my sister) and then evolved into something where we've grown closer. (Kazi and Daria have a closer relationship than my sister and I do, so perhaps I was projecting.) But their conversation in Chapter XXII about their parents is something I've thought about regarding my sister and me and our individual relationships with our parents (I am my dad's favorite, and my sister has always clung to my mom).
Out of all the characters, who is your favourite, to write or to read (if that gives a different answer)?
This is such a tough question. I loved writing Fox! He grew on me with each iteration of this story. Kazi was exhausting to write because I was writing about myself and that introspection sucks at times and weighed me down a bit; but her story was amazing to write. Again, I loved being able to write about a male character falling for a female character like me, and I liked the safety of writing Wolffe as this patient, consistent, understanding man. A part of me wants to write this story from Wolffe's point of view because he has so many thoughts (and there was a point in the first draft where I was going to include a chapter on the most memorable moments from his point of view but decided against it). But Wolffe is hard me to write inside his head. I don't think I do him justice, but he's such a delight to write from an outsider's perspective. I've totally screwed up this answer because I've listed three characters I liked to write for haha. Oh well.
For reading: I'm in a phase where I don't want to read fic about Wolffe, Cody, or Fox because I have such a firm view of them in my mind after writing this story, so other developments of their characters aren't interesting to me right now. Which is horrible, I know. Once I can remove myself from this story, I'm eager to get back into reading for all three, because I love seeing how other people portray these three men!
Thank you so much for these questions! If you couldn't tell, I had a lot of fun answering them :)

Kazi had just been cast away due to her Lycanthropy… rather she had been rejected from the corps due to the uncertainty of the condition, and had run away out of spite from everyone she knew and loved: Friends, Family, Even her beloved Father.
She starts walking through the woods at dusk, Grumbling as she gathered provisions to prepare herself for her own adventure as a rogue. She stumbles upon a seemingly empty cabin and decides to make it her home… only it’s not abandoned…
Kazi walks in, not noticing anything. She calls out.
“Hello? Is anyone there?”
As soon as Kazi walks in the abandoned home. Straw roof disheveled and every part of it in disarray and disrepair. Her surroundings started to smell of brimstone/sulfur or other type of nasty smelling scent. Slowly suffocating her as her skin itches a bit and started to feel warm.
An echoed voice around her, spoke out in mere whispers. "why did you come here. Have you asked for permission?"
The smell slowly start to get in her lungs, causing her to cough. "Answer or I'll have to activate my blood demon art"
As for her father. Kyojuro rengoku. Following the path of what his daughter may have taken which would have lead him to her. It wasnt too difficult as he was trailing behind her when she left.

Hey Kazi, is the ocean a stew or a soup?
Tumblr media
Neither! The primary ingredients in the ocean are salt, plant matter, and protein, usually in crustacean or cordate form. Linguistically, the only root word that makes sense is the Latin root "sal" which is the current root for the word "salad," which is simply a list of ingredients in salt. Water is simply the medium by which all this is held. We don't include the bowl on the list of ingredients, which means that the ocean is neither stew nor a soup, it is linguistically, a salad.

Started Period last night decided to have fun before I answer some asks
How do the boys (Astartes) react when their darling has their Period?
tw: blood, red wings, yandere behavior, Slanneshi behavior, TULIO behavior: stalking, masterbation; Dubcon?
Roland: Disappointed he was certain that this time would be the time that he would have given his Bäckerin a child. However, while pain is part of the human experience he knows that he doesn't like seeing his Bäckerin in pain... she'll be in more pain when giving birth. Roland did his best to be a good husband. He still felt himself preen at the thought of that. His hand cupped her groin as his thumb moved over her abdomen as she was half asleep against him just in a painless blissed out state.
Zul: He has to actively find his Spaseniye during her period. Aboard the blood clad ship she has to hide from cultists who wish to have her blood. She's already pale and anemic as he fishes her out of whatever corner she wedged herself into like a dying cat. He brings her back to his roost or room whatever works for him but he can tell she tries to not wince and whine in pain but lets her move his hand over her bloated belly. Watching her practically fold herself over his hand. He figures he should try to help his Spaseniye given how he can think. He just plays with her hair as she moans softly in pain.
Sirus: This man is between his Moonlight's legs. Lapping up the blood and playing with the clots against his tongue and teeth. His poor darling is an overstimulated mess as she begs for him to stop but he just has to keep her clean. And whenever he enters his room he can smell her blood. Yes he got her a cup.
Sor Delyn, Kazi Delax, & Moremo Klaek: They flit and flutter around their Dove. Kazi is eager to help ease her pain as he heard sex was good way to do so. Moremo and Sor have to keep the eager young Sargent off of their Dove. Dove just asks for chocolates and pain meds... she is so just tired and out of it she normally is confined to the nest all day not because the boys keep her there but because she can't bother to leave it. And the boys are happy to bring their darling whatever she desires.
Arkyn: Is another in the "I heard sex helps" club. His darling tries her best to wander away from the den. He would quickly herd her back to his den specifically his bed. He keeps her nice and safe and warm eventually she'll stop cussing at him and fighting him and be a good little mate and give him some pups.
Palion: His Muse was in pain! As much as Palion enjoyed the experience himself... he hated to see his Muse in agony. He kept her confined to her nest upon his bed. Oh his precious Muse was trying to tell him that she was fine. No no... he would be his GODDESSES thrall. To hear her timid requests... to feed her the indulgent food... of course he will get her what she wants but he will also get her a far more extravagant version... an elevated item as well. If she were a cat she would be purring as she is curled around a heating pad and just cutely looks up at Palion... he tries his best to not fuck her in her nest. But Palion is a weak man lucky his Goddess of Muse will certainly forgive him later.
Ghosk: He learns his Rabbit has short and intense periods given how in shape she is. She is practically sobbing under the bed trying to keep away from him as she is crippled. Ghosk rolls his eyes at the feeble attempts to keep herself safe. Wouldn't work against another night lord. He hums as he injects her with some pain meds... he barely gives her anything of the Astartes medicine. She should be fine... his rabbit stops crying at least. He grins at the high rabbit as she grabs his face, her eyes blown wide and practically black as she babbles.
Vauth: He cocks his head when his Byte starts her feminine discharge cycle. She has built in pain inhibitors and self medicating features. He simply notes how he will have to clean up after her as she bleeds upon his bed.
Solos: He plays up being Daddy when his Lovie is unwell. Praying to Grandfather won't do her any good when she's on her period. A cycle of death and rebirth... blah blah blah. He was another who found heaven between his darlings thighs. She was helpless normally but on her period? Oh Lovie needed her Daddy. He trills down at his bloated cutie. What if he feeds off of her a bit just to keep her a little bit more helpless and whiney for Daddy Sol.
Tulio: He shouldn't be so close to his Psychi during her period. Of course, he doesn't believe in the superstitions. He holds his breath even though he is quite far... as he watches her bathe in the river. She certainly looks quite clean to him. Would she flee like a nymph if he got too close? He could see her perky nipples from the chilly water. Oh how he wanted to help his Psychoula bathe and reach all those places on her back she couldn't. He pulled out one of her dresses that he had... found. It would have to do for now... he would buy her softer dresses as he inhaled her scent and pleased himself with his hand.
Jihias: He could smell the blood from his Lamb. How sacrificial it all was... a little lamb bleeding... and he couldn't help but stalk after her like the bleeding wounded creature she was. The way her eyes widen as she finds herself cornered and he just grins at her widening eyes.
Harram: Will have Endion watch over Ferum when Ori's period starts. He is another that will treat his Darling with tender loving care. Of course he does it efficiently. He quickly learned when her cycle was and prepares everything in his little "home" for her period. Of course being able to smell the iron odor in her discharge and clinging to her helps him be able to prepare if it's early. But the terminator enjoys to cuddle up with Ori and read over battle plans as she watches some mundane mortal show... about cooking... perhaps he enjoys to watch those baking competitions building things out of cake. Oh... no it's falling over... he winces watching the sugar work shatter.
Azazel: Another man who enjoys helping his Pet by bullying his cock into her sex. He's a simple man (I really need to redo Azazel)
I'll do the other boys when I get to them

Have already talked before about how while this scene shows a lot of growth on Rayla's part, it also shows the way she still needs to grow (aka she's not necessarily asking for emotional support, and has already made her decision about what to do regarding the coins. Like letting your partner know you're in pain is good, for sure, but it's not quite the same as... asking them to help you, if that makes any sense?). Even when she's opening up, it's only about the sacrifice she's already decided she has to make and the pain she thinks she has to go through.
As Rayla says, the world comes first, not her or her pain. And Callum, per usual, disagrees by immediately getting obsessively sidetracked and insisting on helping (on mitigating her pain) even when she repeatedly reiterates that other things (like their physical safety) is more important.
1)

2)

3) even when she Knows the answer might be right there, it's his insistence that stays her hand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which makes me wonder if indeed Callum would've held to his word to Kazi if Rayla had brought this to his attention earlier, and if instead of
Tumblr media
He would've insisted so they do divide and conquer, or what I like to call - you love Rayla so much it makes you look stupid x2

OC Questionnaire
Thanks for the tag @theink-stainedfolk!
I will answer for Xaeren, Kell and Apollo.
1. What's the most spontaneous thing you've ever done? Would you do it again?
Xaeren: Probably deciding to travel the world. I am glad I did it. I would never have found Ez and Rin’s research otherwise, and I would never have had the best days of my life in Zairel.
Kell: Following a random stranger to a different city to learn magic. I would do it again in a heartbeat. This has changed my life, I am top of my class in casting and have a promising future as a mage. That is much more than I would ever have had in Daliva.
Apollo: When we escaped the Ponturesi, I decided to experiment with some of the runes, I tried using Zyr fly and it nearly worked. I wouldn’t do it again now because I know that I need it in combination with Usoul to lessen my weight before the air can support me.
2. If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be and why?
Xaeren: Muliva Kazi. Assuming I can choose the day, she is quite dead now. She was the first to design ways of killing the gods in the godly war, her research would be very helpful to me.
Kell: Febras Ollati. She is the voice of the council who run house lysandri and the most powerful mage in a generation. (She is kind of my hero.)
Apollo: The head of house for The Vandris. I would like to give some orders to the rest of the house on the limits of cruelty that we accept. Then I would cause as many problems as possible in his house and leave.
3. What's one thing you're passionate about that might surprise people?
Xaeren: I love travelling and learning new languages and cultures. Most people who know me have only ever met me in Zairel, but I have been everywhere I could reach before Schaeres found me.
Kell: I love cooking. I haven’t done it since I left Daliva but when I worked in the tavern I used to help the cooks prepare and it was the only good thing about that place.
Apollo: I love learning. I would have gone to school and studied for my whole life just to learn more about history, magic and the world. Tyro would tell you that I already know basically everything and most of the people at camp think I am fine with an ability in the runes but I want to know more. They are probably right that it is not useful, but even still I want to know.
Your Questions are:
What is your favourite time of day?
What age do you expect to live to? Do you want to live longer?
You have to destroy a building, how do you do it?
Tagging @drchenquill, @the-golden-comet, @somethingclevermahogony, @kaylinalexanderbooks, @thecomfywriter
@rivenantiqnerd, @leahnardo-da-veggie and @frostedlemonwriter.

Leola - Startouch elves and Unicorns.
I'm a big fan of the Leola is Aaravos' daughter theory, and as I was making a different post I had one of those what ifs that went weird places. Plus, there's a lot of speculation about shapeshifting unicorns because the child Startouch elf holding the Leola's Last Wish in the star map is confirmed to be Leola, who is also mentioned as a unicorn in Tales of Xadia handbook.
So, this theory is full blown tinfoil hat.
Tumblr media
Here's a unicorn as depicted in Puzzle House. They have a diamond blaze under their horn. Aaravos' conjured horse also has diamond blade, but hornless. Notice that the shape is the close to Aaravos' missing chest piece, his "white heart".
From the Death of the Immortal poem;
Kazi: "...and though undying, took last breath, immortal Laurelion was no more." Callum: That's good, right? I mean, when someone "was no more," that-that's dead, yeah? Kazi: It's a bit confusing, but that is the clearest implication. Though, it is somewhat odd they call them undying and immortal. Callum: Well, that doesn't sound so immortal? Laurelion "was no more." Right. But how? How did they...? Kazi: Right here. "White as the star's heart it pierced, ivory draconic brought death's bite known ever forth as Novablade." Callum: It's a sword. A weapon that can end a Startouch Elf's mortal existence. The weapon. We did it. We found the answer.
(ivory draconic - wonder if that's a reference to the star dragon bone mentioned in a legend in ToX).
So, here comes the wild speculation part...
What if "took last breath" and [Leola's] "Last Wish" are connected? What if Startouch elves lose their immortality because they have massive amounts of power drawn out of them (aka last breath) by the Novablade to perform a "great wish." What if the drawing takes a twisted form that solidifies, erupting from their heart piece...
Tumblr media
And the Startouch is transformed into a unicorn who can die, with the horn being the mark of their final wish.
Why unicorns? Well, part of it's the western fantasy familiarity with unicorns and pure-heartedness. I think only pure hearted Startouch were selected for this...
Going with this, as a child Leola was stabbed with the Novablade, which created the brightest star in the sky - Leola's Last Wish. Now, I think this has something to do with the "heavens" the Startouch elves disappeared to. Using Leola's sacrificed immortality the Startouch created a cosmic home for themselves, which Aaravos ends up getting cast out of.
But what if this isn't just Leola, what if this is just how Startouch effect the world and every unicorn was created this way. Using a (star?) dragon bone blade to sacrifice a pure hearted child's immortal future in order to benefit the greater community. Maybe that's how primal magic was created from deep magic - a child's wish to make life better for others. Unicorns are described as "selfless" - a most cherished value in elf culture.
Take Rayla's example. Doing her duty to her community, by giving up her family, by risking her life to keep others safe, by doing the unpleasant tasks while trying to save other that burden, that's what she's been taught is love. She's sent on a dangerous mission at 15 to reclaim honor and help lift herself out of the shame of her parent's failure - when she had nothing to do with it. She has to prove she's worthy to Silvergrove. When she fails in her duty to her community, she loses their love and is castout.
Extrapolate to a culture where the greatest act of love is sacrificing your forever.
But if Leola is Aaravos' daughter, he probably was less than pleased she lost her immortality just so others could live the life. Even if everyone else praised and honored her, he still lost her. She's depicted as uniquely kind amongst unicorns and he may have felt the others took advantage of her great empathy - and being just a kid. Even if she volunteered, he would have felt the culture pressured her. He might despise the whole practice and culture that benefits from it.
Which makes his action with Sparklepuff more of a dark mirror held up against Startouch practices. Deliberately creating a child purely for sacrificial purpose to benefit from their power is evil... so how can a culture justify brainwashing children to get the same result?
(Kinda headcanoning Leola as a bit of a mash-up of Rayla and Ezran).
Then Leola became humanity's helper, gifting the people of Elarion primal stones and knowledge of primal magic, which led to some learning primal magic, and the Elarion culture flourishing. This appears to have gone against Startouches' warning and to have eventually incurred the Startouches' ire - at least according to Aaravos, who obliques says in Ripple short story that the Startouch killed all the human primal mages by dropping a small star (implied to be Aaravos) and creating the Sea of the Castout. Another slight against Leola that Aaravos may feel the need to rectify, on top of them casting him out. Que introduction of dark magic, plans of vengeance against Startouch etc.
So this theory is pretty out there, as it's not really based off much - Leola on star map & mentioned in ToX, weird wording in the Death of the Immortal poem, odd observation about Aaravos' horse, that only those of pure heart can see the unicorn map, and the "self-sacrificing for duty is love" nature of elf culture. But it was mentioned in an interview that most of Aaravos motivation stems from his relationship with an individual, and losing a daughter to elf culture's emphasis on self-sacrifice that mainly benefits those he finds unworthy of such love? I kinda like it as a motivation.
(Side note, kinda feel Aaravos is making a dig for his own amusement with his mount looking like a hornless unicorn, given that he doesn't have a white heart to stab and isn't pure hearted anyway. Plus, some stuff about why Aaravos is pleased about a unicorn horn being used in the Weapon of Vengeance spell, but that gets off topic so I might come back to that later).
