you know, something that bothers me, excites me and makes me so scared about MILGRAM is the fact that there are too many possible endings for one trial.
for example, taking first trial's result. A lot of people, to the point Es mentioned it in Mahiru's 2nd vd, would've voted Kotoko guilty if they knew she was going to attack the guilty prisoners. Just for the small change in Kotoko's verdict, a lot of events wouldn't have unfolded. The most obvious one is that guilty character arc would be different, and inno Shidou wouldn't have found something to live for inside MILGRAM, so his arc would be affected too
If Amane was innocent, would she take direct action to stop Shidou from healing the others? I don't think she can be a direct threat to him, but she could sabotage his instruments
Mikoto is known to be a match in force to Kotoko even if she's using a bat, so if he was inno, could he help protecting others? would he stop her? (also, I've always thought an inno mikoto on t1 would serve as a mediator or at least someone who tries to keep things calm inside the prison)
Guilty characters aren't really that close to the innocent ones (except mappi and yuno iirc). If one between Mu and Haruka was guilty and the other inno, would they still stick together?
Guilty characters are a lot more shocking on their mvs, with the exception of Futa. How could the t2 mvs be if they were guilty? (especially after pain, since it was really explicit at first)
so I would really like to have like - some kind of book with art and trivias where we can see scraps and alternative endings or ideas, or even a game with multiple endings would be great (but i don't think it works with milgram's format, since it's supposed to be a MUSIC project and ambiguity builds like the 90% of it) There are a lot of things to explore and I think I am missing them !!

IT'S KEI'S VD. IT'S KEI TIME. ARE WE READY. ARE WE EXCITED. ARE WE SCARED. GOOD.
Warnings for Kei's VD: Mentions and descriptions of violence and Kei's.. interesting relationship with Ruka. Kei's scars also get mentioned.
Warnings for Kei's MV: There's.. a lot going on. You can interpret his MV as you wish until I confirm something, but just know that Kei is shown to be very uncomfortable in some scenes and there are heavy implications of him being tortured or abused in some way. Also, yeah, spiders.
(sounds of footsteps)
Miki: .. I-it's already his turn, huh..
Miki: Will you be okay, Eiji-san?
Eiji: I will. Don't worry about me.
Eiji: Also, he's too weak to do anything to me anyway.
Miki: Okay then..
(the door opens)
Kei: Ah, it's my adorable little brother and his adorable little..
Kei: .. Girlfriend? Friend? Little sister figure?
Kei: I still don't know anything about your relationship dynamic.
Eiji: .. You haven't changed at all.
Kei: Haha, well, I don't want to act all sad, you know?
Kei: I don't want to make you worry about me!
Eiji: Shut up. You know I don't care about-
Kei: Ow-
Kei: Ugh, my legs still kinda hurt..
Miki: I-is it hard for you to walk, Kei-san?
Miki: M-maybe we can get you something to make it at least a bit easier-
Kei: Thank you, dear, but I don't need anything like that.
Kei: .. I already look weak enough, I don't want to make my condition seem even worse, haha.
Eiji: .. L-let's just begin the interrogation.
Miki: W-wait!
Miki: Are you sure you're feeling okay, Kei-san?
Kei: I told you I'm fine~ Don't worry about me too much, okay?
Miki: But still.. D-do you need anything? Maybe some water? Also I'm not sure if I saw you eat anything today-
Kei: Hey, Miki.
Kei: Aren't you acting a bit too nice for someone who has also agreed to vote me guilty?
Miki: ...
Kei: Don't forget, this is kinda your fault too.
Kei: Ohhh, maybe you're just trying to make me trust you more? Maybe you want to make me beg for forgiveness? That's soooo smart!
Eiji: If you say anything like that to her again, I will make sure you get voted guilty again this time.
Eiji: And my second punishment for you will be even worse than the first one.
Kei: Haha, you are sure protective of her, Eiji~
Kei: Okay, ask me anything you want.
Eiji: .. I'm not even sure what I want to start with.
Eiji: You're one of those prisoners that we still know nothing about.
Kei: How can you say that about your own brother?? You're so cruel..
Miki: Um, may I ask a question first?
Kei: Sure, sure~
Miki: .. Eiji-san has told me that you actually have a lot of scars on your body. And you had them even before he did anything to you.
Kei: ...
Miki: S-so I wanted to ask..
Miki: .. W-why do you have them? What happened to you?
Eiji: Guard 002, things like that are not important to us-
Miki: But what if they have to do something with Kei-san's crime?
Miki: I have a feeling that these scars might be pretty recent, so..
Kei: .. Haha, Eiji, your girlfriend is smart.
Kei: But, uh..
Kei: Don't worry about me! These scars are nothing compared to what I did to my beloved~
Miki: But what about your scars-
Eiji: "Beloved"?
Eiji: Are you talking about that person from your video?
Kei: Yep! You are so smart too, Eiji!
Kei: I mean, of course you are, you're my brother after all.
Kei: Oh no, thinking about him brings me even more pain now..
Eiji: .. Him?
Miki: Ohh, so that person was a man?
Kei: Haha, did you expect them to be a poor and innocent woman who couldn't fight back?
Kei: Nope, it was a guy who I met at the club once.
Kei: I guess he really does look fragile, but trust me, he's stronger than he looks.
Kei: Still cute though!
Kei: .. Eiji, is everything okay? You look kinda confused.
Eiji: I-I'm fine. I'm just glad we got more information about that person from your video.
Miki: Wait, but Kei-san, why did you change the topic?
Miki: We were talking about your scars and then you suddenly mentioned.. uh..
Miki: I don't even know what to call him.. Like, is it okay for me to say that he was your partner?
Miki: Of course, your relationship with him might have something to do with your crime, but still..
Eiji: Seriously, why are you still refusing to talk to us about your murder?
Eiji: I doubt that it's worse than your job or whatever you did to that guy.
Eiji: Is he your victim or something-
Kei: N-NO!
Kei: Ouch-
Miki: Kei-san! Please be more careful!
Kei: Sorry, sorry..
Kei: A-anyway, I did kidnap him and I also did a lot of things to make him, uh..
Kei: You know, more "obedient".
Kei: But it was consensual! He was into that kind of thing.
Eiji: You're just lying again.
Kei: I remember him saying something like "If you ever decide to kill me, I would prefer you poisoning me, but I want that poison to be as painful as possible, so that I can feel something for the first time before I die".
Kei: I can't make this stuff up.
Eiji and Miki: ...
Eiji: .. Congratulations on finding your perfect match.
Miki: Wait, you're changing the topic again!
Miki: Uh.. right, about that hint you gave us last time!
Kei: .. Oh, you remember that?
Miki: You said "five".
Miki: I don't really have any other guesses, but..
Miki: Maybe that means you had five victims?
Kei: ...
Kei: You got it right, yay~
Kei: *starts coughing* H-hey, can we finish this interrogation already-
Eiji: Are you pretending to be in pain or something?
Miki: Five victims.. five victims..
Miki: Wait! Weren't there five women in the beginning of your video? Do you remember that, Eiji-san?
Eiji: Ah, right. We couldn't see their faces though.
Kei: .. Y-you saw them?
Eiji: I've literally just told you we couldn't see their faces.
Eiji: Does that mean that those women were your victims?
Eiji: God, you never change. You're still just as horrible.
Miki: But why, Kei-san? Why did you kill them?
Eiji: Do you even have to ask? It's obvious it was just him being his usual self-
Kei: .. *starts sobbing*
Kei: I just.. I wanna go home..
Eiji: .. Hey.
Kei: I want to see Mom again..
Miki: Eiji-san, what is going on-
Kei: Nii-chan, can we go home already?
Eiji: ...
Miki: .. "Nii-chan"?
Miki: Wait, so which one of you is actually the older one??
Eiji: Don't listen to him, it's obviously him.
Eiji: He just.. has this stupid habit of calling me the older brother when he's stressed. He always had it, even when I was twelve and he was eighteen.
Kei: Nii-chan, are you listening to me?
Kei: I said I wanna go home.
Eiji: You're not going home anytime soon!
Eiji: I doubt that you will be able to leave this place anyway.
Kei: B-but-
Kei: W-what about Mom? What about Dad?
Kei: A-and what about Ruka?
Kei: I want to see all of them!
Eiji: Ugh, why can't you just shut up already-
Kei: WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LOOK AT ME ALREADY?!
Kei: ...
Eiji: ...
Kei: .. Nii-chan, why didn't you tell me that I was allowed to touch you?
Miki: .. O-oh no.
Eiji: .. Kei, let me go. Right now.
Kei: ... *starts laughing*
Miki: Kei-san, please, let him go!
Kei: Looks like it's time for your punishment, Eiji~
Eiji: Kei, I'm serious, you have to stop this right now.
Eiji: You don't even have enough energy for this-
Eiji: !
(sounds of Eiji being in pain)
Miki: Kei-san, if you continue, both of you will get hurt!
Kei: It's okay~ Come on, what am I gonna do, break his arm?
Kei: Like, look at me! Do I look like I'm strong enough for that?
Eiji: Please.. P-please, just stop this already!..
Kei: What's this? Are you crying?
Kei: Haha, fine, maybe you really are the younger brother here.
(the bell rings, machinery sounds)
Kei: But I just started having fun! Can't we have one more minute, please? Or maybe two..
Miki: .. You're lucky you already have too many injuries.
Miki: Otherwise I wouldn't go easy on you.
Miki: Eiji-san, can you still do this whole.. thing?
Eiji: Y-yeah, I think I can.
Eiji: M-my arm..
Miki: We'll take care of it later, okay? At least it's not broken..
Kei: What, is it time for my second video to be extracted? Hehe, I hope my second song is just as good as the first one.
Kei: Can we do this quick though? I'm kinda tired..
Eiji: Yeah, still acting like this must be tiring.
Kei: .. What do you mean?
Eiji: You're obviously in pain, but you're still acting like everything is fine.
Eiji: No matter what I do to you, you will still act like your annoying self.
Kei: Hehe, well, isn't this something that we both do?
Kei: Both of us would rather die than admit that we're weaker than we seem to be.
Eiji: .. Please, just stop talking.
Eiji: Prisoner 005, Kei, sing your sins!

[ MV Description ]
His video would have three main colors: hot pink and bright shades of purple and blue.
The video starts with Kei doing something in the room that was shown in his first video. The whole room has mostly pink colors and when we look closer, we can see Kei hanging more photographs on the wall. We can still see all the photos from the first MV: photos of flowers, animals, his friends, etc, but those are not important right now. Kei seems to be holding photographs of some women for some reason and he looks very focused.
"I think everything is going according to plan
I can't let you worry about anything
So just trust me, I'm gonna keep you safe, okay?"
We can also see his "muse" and the person he kidnapped, Ruka, lying on the bed, reading a book and having the same emotionless expression as always. There are some photographs lying on the bed next to Ruka too and he suddenly takes one of them and gives it to Kei, who looks surprised, but he appreciates Ruka's help and hangs it up as well.
"I think what I feel for you must be love,
What am I supposed to do now?
Am I supposed to just hurt you even more, just like I was taught?"
When Kei is finally done, he takes a step back and we can see all the photos together. The women look very.. familiar for some reason. Kei sees Ruka yawning and smiles. We can see him covering Ruka with a blanket and patting his head and Kei's face expression actually looks much softer than usual.
"Or should I be more kind, should I be more warm
Should I be the sun to your moon
I'm sorry, but I'm sure you will call me a disappointment sooner or later"
But then, Kei walks to the door and takes a deep breath and opens it.
The colors of the video change to bright purple and Kei's outfit changes as well. His outfit has noticeable spider motifs and everything around him has them as well. It should be mentioned that before this scene, Kei's outfit looked much softer and comfortable, even though it also looked more "plain". Kei smiles widely and greets the women that came to visit him. There's five of them.
The women that also were in those photographs.
And the women that were shown in the beginning of Kei's T1 MV.
And those women are his friends' girlfriends, who were shown in the T1 MV as well.
All of them look happy and excited and they run up to hug Kei.
"Congrats, you've fallen right into my trap
Make yourself comfortable, you're in for a long ride
Tying you up, choking and biting
Keep your eyes on me, take those rose-colored glasses off"
They go to a different room and it looks like they're all having fun even though everything around them slowly starts looking more surreal and distorted and more and more spider webs begin to appear. Kei looks happy too, but his face expression changes for a second to a scared one as he looks directly at us and goes back to a happy one.
"I won't let you see any of my weaknesses
Focus only on the good parts
I'll do anything to keep you entertained"
Some time passes and Kei can be seen sitting with some of the women on the couch, one of them is nowhere to be seen. One of the women leans closer to him and whispers something into his ear which makes the colors of the video change to bright shades of blue for a second before it goes back to purple.
Kei simply laughs it off and tries to ignore that woman, but she keeps looking at him and he starts getting more and more nervous. Kei tries to stand up, but as he does that, it turns out that one of the women has went to the other room, the one where Ruka was in, and she returns with some of the photographs she found and drops them on the floor.
"Okay, I should've known that I can't lie about this forever
But hey, you like bad guys, right?
I'm still "Innocent" in your eyes, right?
Why won't you answer me?"
Everything around Kei starts becoming more and more blue and as he finally stands up, he just falls on the floor. He looks down and sees that the floor now has a huge spider web drawn on it and it's the same color as Kei's image color. It lights up and Kei's outfit changes again. This time, if you look closer, you can see that it has butterfly motifs, but it looks more torn and messy than his other outfits. As the women start to get closer to him, they start looking more and more like real spiders. They're not like Kei, who just had an outfit with a theme like that, their bodies actually start to get more and more spider-like. The chorus plays again as all of this is happening.
Kei closes his eyes for a second and when he opens them, he sees that he's inside of a huge glass jar. He tries to get out, he punches the glass, he calls for help, but all of that is useless. He sees all those women walking up closer to him and one of them takes the jar and looks at Kei with interest in her eyes. Kei gets scared and starts begging her to let him go. But then, suddenly, the other woman, the one who went to that room, tells them something and all women lose their interest in Kei and carelessly throw the jar on the floor.
"Fine, just do it, say that I'm "Guilty"
But look at me, don't I look so pitiable?
Do I wanna be seen as strong? Do I wanna be seen as weak?
I don't know, but just hug me already!"
Kei lies on the floor, covered in bright blue liquid that is most likely supposed to be blood and we can see all the glass in his wounds, especially the ones on his back, where his "wings" are supposed to be. Kei looks shocked as he realizes something and he tries to leave the room.. but he can't. His injuries are too serious, he can't walk anymore. He has no choice but to crawl as he keeps leaving more of that blue liquid behind.
"I still want to protect you, I swear I will protect you
Maybe I really should take my jade-colored glasses on this time
Maybe I should accept that this world won't accept me"
When he finally reaches the door, everything becomes both pink and purple for a second until it goes back to blue and we can see Ruka opening the door. Ruka looks a bit confused and it looks like he's asking Kei what happened, but all Kei can do right now is cry. Ruka walks into the room and we can see many different things lying on the floor: a pillow, a rope, a knife, more glass and even some.. water spilled?
"I'm hopeless, I'm hopeless, I'm so totally hopeless
Even this time you're the one protecting me
I know I'm a failure, please don't be mad at me
I thought I was in control, but now look at my crying face"
Ruka just ignores all those things and even steps on them as he walks closer to Kei and pulls him in a hug. The older guy just keeps sobbing and Ruka keeps holding him until he notices something.
"Congrats, I've fallen right into your trap
I made myself comfortable, I know I'm in for a long ride
I'm drowning in this deep blue love
Keep your eyes on me until I gouge them out"
He looks directly at us and lets Kei go for a moment. He walks closer to us while looking at us with anger in his eyes and then kicks the camera with his foot, breaking it and making it fall on the floor. The video ends.

milgram analysis: 'john' (orekoto, オレ) did not form to vent mikoto's stress through murder, and he is not the alter that 'did it'
(mainly me musing on how DID functions, as well as analysing the text. enjoy)
will be referring both to wiki and milgram-en's (Neoplasm, interrogation) translations. mainly wiki for gesturing, and milgram-en for textual analysis. thank you so much!
note on names: for the purposes of this post:
09 refers to the person/system, all parts included
mikoto refers to 09 with the exception of orekoto/'john' (ie. all his 'normative' / in denial / confused / playful demeanours). this is the alter who is 'on trial' for the purposes of Milgram, so I will also use this name when talking about voting
'john' refers to the 09 (オレ, ore) who claims in Neoplasm to be the alter who commit murder. I will also make the assumption that he is the same alter as 09 (俺, ore) in John Doe that attacks es, since he expresses familiarity with 俺's actions in John Doe
i'm working with translations and 09 is a complicated character, so please forgive any slip ups!
thank you for reading.
Tumblr media
introduction: widely accepted fanon
i frequently see that mikoto's case is controversial on the axis of 'system responsibility'.
on the side of guilty voters, mikoto is guilty because he and john are part of the same system, and unfortunately, that means they share culpability. i often hear rhetoric implying that 09's DID means mikoto was functionally possessed, and that he had no say in the murders, but regardless, him being guilty is just an unfortunate logistical situation. it's just how it is.
this rhetoric also makes it easy to argue for his innocence, and counter with how unfair this expectation is. if DID means he was functionally possessed, couldn't control his actions, and his alter just went out and killed people, regardless of 'john' having any noble intentions, that's tragic and unfair.
aside from being a fucking horrific way to see someone with DID (implying alters' actions are burdens, foreign intrusions that you just have to deal with. no recognition or self compassion whatsoever. die), this discourse also rides on the assumption that between 'normative' mikoto and his alter dubbed 'john', mikoto had nothing to do with his crime. that 'john' formed as a result of overwhelming stress mikoto had bottled up, and, pitying him deeply, 'john' decided to find mikoto an outlet through murder, something mikoto did not consent to.
i don't blame anyone for coming to this conclusion or approaching 09's crime in this way. it is very very deeply what milgram leads you towards, and what 'john' wants you to believe is going on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
through the VDs and MVs, 'john' consistently paints the picture that it was his choice to murder and his alone, that he did it without mikoto's consciousness and anthetically to mikoto's character.
so. what's the problem? he's told us very straightforwardly across the board that what you've just described is what's going on. can we not believe the words of the prisoner themselves?
no. because 09, like all prisoners, has reason to lie to us to secure his survival. and 'john' in particular has every reason to convince us of a reality where he and he alone is the guilty party.
i very very strongly believe that 'john' is manipulating the audience to create the impression he does out of an ego-protective obligation. so i'm writing this post. and i hope i can convince you too.
main body 1: the purpose of alters (no, we are not functionally possessed):
let's start at the beginning. why did 'john' form? why would an alter with his characteristics form at all? this will help us understand why he does things, and what his role is within 09's life.
alters in DID typically form in response to new life roles and traumas, with the key note being that these aforementioned roles or traumas could not be handled by / identified with the alters that already exist. thus, a new dissociated state emerges to isolate that event or carry out that role. memory gaps may occur when the mere existence of that role / event is intolerable, or dissociation is otherwise high.
i have already written a long document on writing DID. check it out if you are unfamiliar with the basics.
we are aware of a few facts about mikoto's life, which can clue us in to what those roles and traumas may have led new alters to form.
first, he works an overwhelming job and never gets a days rest. it's implied he does not take good care of himself because of how all-consuming his job is, and that it takes him to a breaking point.
second, he commit mass murder.
third, he was suddenly brought to milgram, put under 24/7 surveillance, and told he was a killer, despite not remembering doing anything of the sort.
i frequently see people come to the conclusion that 'john' formed as a result of his stressful job, and functions to let mikoto 'blow off steam'. there's a few reasons i don't think this is the case.
an alter who forms as a result of a stressful job is more likely to handle and isolate the source of stress itself. for example, an automatic alter to handle work and nothing else, isolating that stress from the rest of their personality.
i really dont think an alter can form to 'blow off steam'. by definition, 'john' is a dissociative identity, disconnected from mikoto. whatever he does in terms of emotional processing is by design not going to impact mikoto.
in John Doe, 'john's' demeanour appears majorly aligned with fictionalised stereotypes of violent split personalities, appearing sadistic and animalistic. this alter presentation doesn't just 'happen' without reason, and i can't find a reason for 'john' to present himself like this if he truly formed to put himself first and 'blow off steam'.
so why did 'john' form?
main body 2: the purpose of 'john'
it's my opinion he formed as a result of (ie. after) the murders, as a way to contain and identify with those actions, because mikoto could not. i believe 'john' protects mikoto from 09's identity as a murderer and that intolerable experience in general, by allowing him to dissociate from it and forget it.
(note: it's not in my interest to pin the crime on any one alter, and i think it's weird to do so. you will notice i refer to 09's (as a whole) identity as a murderer, rather than blaming any one part, since it's an objective fact that 09, as a person, killed people. i'm opposed to holding any single alter responsible, but i am absolutely certain that if you are to argue that one is, it would not be 'john'.)
i believe that through distinguishing himself from mikoto through his accent, personality presentation, and sense of self, 'john' becomes the archetypal 'monster', which serves to reassure mikoto that 'john' is 'not him', and thus disassociates mikoto from the things 'john' takes ownership of: namely, 09's murderous actions and 09's identity as someone who has killed.
i also believe that following the transition into Milgram, 'john', as a protective alter is forced to develop beyond just psychologically protecting mikoto from the reality that 09 are a murderer. due to the voting system, it becomes important for 09's physical survival and wellbeing that 'john' can convince the audience that he is distinct from mikoto. he takes advantage of the fact that mikoto is the only alter on trial, and begins to spin sympathy for mikoto as a helpless victim, and negotiate on the terms of mikoto's innocence, by reiterating that it was 'john', and only 'john', who did it.
let's break down some 'john' truths:
he has a rough demeanour in contrast to mikoto's soft-spoken, and in John Doe, appears violent and sadistic
he distinguishes himself from and contrasts himself to mikoto by making a point to alternate personal pronouns
he claims to be the alter that commit the murders
he insists that this means mikoto should be found innocent, and that mikoto had nothing to do with it
Tumblr media
when he realises that es may not agree with that view, he begins to plead, and then attempts to negotiate with es, being willing to sacrifice his existence as 'john' by promising to 'disappear'
Tumblr media
he, well. this:
I'll take it all - bear it all (...) and I'll be rid of it. I (ore) ... was born in order to protect me. I (ore) would do whatever it takes to protect me (boku).
Tumblr media
i find these last words 'john' says to es are the most telling, and really give us an insight into his motivations and what he considers his role and responsibility.
note that it's not to help mikoto vent stress. it's to take on the burden of everything that causes 09 distress. that being, for the most part, his guilt. he expresses a desire to isolate that trauma into himself as 'john' and vanish it, and maybe it's the DID in me, but all i'm hearing is the sound of a self-sacrificing protective alter who is desperately trying to keep his normal parts from having their illusion of a normal, trauma-free life shattered.
main body 3: where we can infer 'john' may be misleading us
ok, so i have this crazy theory i've convinced myself of that can strictly speaking be considered in line with the text using some mental gymnastics. but is there anything in the text that directly suggests that 'john' didn't do it?
yeah.
for starters, and perhaps a moot point, but mikoto is the alter on trial within Milgram. not only that, but 'john' is specifically not.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
to be honest, this is what first got me theorising along this train of thought. if Milgram really 'doesn't make mistakes', and were presumably aware of 'john's' existence (in the sense that 'john' is considered unique, and not a prisoner), what makes mikoto the identity on trial?
like i said earlier, while i disagree with assigning culpability to individual alters, i do believe that if you were to assign culpability and only persecute and associate one alter for/with 09's crimes, it would not be 'john', because he did not exist as an alter at the time 09 commit those crimes. therefore, i believe Milgram is suggesting that of the alters, mikoto is the guilty party.
moreover, when you dissect 'john's' confession to es, there are certain patterns he displays that imply he is misleading us.
1. he is incredibly vague and emotionally disconnected when describing the event, lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
his account of the murders appears fragmented and vague, and it's notable that he doesn't elaborate very much, or seem to feel much at all towards the event. contrast this to mikoto, who, when pressed on the topic of murder, starts to panic, scratch at his head, whimper and groan, and dissociate.
'john' either has a composure of steel, and truly does not feel remorse for his murder whatsoever, or, more likely, is that he only has a surface level connection to those memories, because his role only really extends towards identifying those memories and actions as 'his'.
it may be possible that mikoto is the alter with a unique repressed connection to the emotions and distress associated with the events, hence his violent reaction to es' pressing. it's also possible that the murders are blurry and hard to connect with for 09 in general, because trauma and dissociation can do that. but in both cases, i feel that 'john's' account of the murder don't really convince me that it was him that was conscious for the act, much less in a nonchalant and uncaring way, as he seems to put across.
2. he is first and foremost preoccupied with what his confession means for mikoto's guilt and protection
Tumblr media
he gives up confessing and spinning his story after he's successfully convinced es that what he has said is the truth. he then immediately checks with the consequences of his actions.
this doesn't read as a confession to me, rather it looks like a blatant strategy. it's not about what 'john' did, it's about what 'john' can tell es to turn the tides in mikoto's favour.
Tumblr media
when it becomes clear es may not be willing to see things his way, 'john' immediately loses his nonchalant composure. clearly, distinguishing himself as a uniquely guilty alter isn't working to secure his goals of mikoto's innocence, so he doubles down and makes emotional pleas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
again, note that it's not about 'john'. 'john' is content vilifying himself, and makes no attempt to humanise himself, or give explanation for 'his' actions. instead, he emphasises mikoto's innocence, and tries to evoke sympathy for him.
Tumblr media
and in the end, 'john' strikes a deal with es; on the condition of mikoto's innocence, 'john' will 'disappear' himself. he cements his role as an alter that serves to carry 09's guilt so mikoto never has to face who he is and what he's done. the apparent subtext of 'proving one's use' reinforces this reading, i think. 'john' being able to 'disappear' himself and secure mikoto's guilt-free survival, is, honestly, the ideal situation as far as 09 believes.
the logistics of 'john' 'disappearing' himself and the fact that this, practically, would not make 09 guilt-free are a can of worms — this ... might not go how they expect ... — but 09's intentions are clear. 09 wants what 'john' isolates, carries, and represents (his guilt & identity as a killer) to vanish. whether or not he practically can 'vanish' anything (and what the consequences of his 'disappearing' are) remain to be seen (although, based on the voice clips, it seems that without 'john' around to contain 09's identity as a killer ... mikoto is not having a good time, psychologically).
in my opinion, 'john's' confession and the subsequent deterioration of the conversation are absolutely seeping in 'john's' ulterior motives to take all distress and discomfort from mikoto and protect him.
I'll take it all - bear it all (...) and I'll be rid of it. I (ore) ... was born in order to protect me. I (ore) would do whatever it takes to protect me (boku).
therefore, i would not take anything he claims about being autonomous, monstrous, and uniquely guilty at face value. 'john' has a goal, he has a purpose, and he will do anything to attain it.
main body 4: but maybe he's not... intentionally lying
all this said, i don't want the takeaway to be that 'john' is a manipulative liar. i also strongly believe that on a lot of levels, he, and 09 as a whole, believe what he is saying, because he has to.
like i said at the start, alters in DID encapsulate roles and traumas that could not be identified by the alters that already exist. if 'john' exists to isolate 09's identity as a killer, that means that 09 as a whole cannot tolerate the idea that mikoto could do such a thing.
Tumblr media
i find 'john's' musing on the 'kind of person' that mikoto is very telling.
09 has a very firm idea of what a kind of gentle, sensitive, victimised person mikoto is, which makes the fact that he broke under the pressure and murdered people an even more intolerable reality. however, it's crucial for 09's health that they continue to believe in their goodness and maintain the illusion of a normal life for their everyday parts.
therefore, it's safest for 09's ego and psychological stability for 'john' to truly believe he is guilty and mikoto innocent. he also, after all, expresses incredibly high distress at the suggestion that mikoto may be punished or considered 'guilty', yet displays no such distress at his own condemnation. this reality where mikoto is innocent is clearly a source of stability for 09 across the board. so i do believe all of 09 believe this is the case, at least emotionally, and collectively work to sustain this reality for their psychological welfare.
i also believe 'john' isn't necessarily lying about believing in his role and personal guilt just because of how much self-hatred he betrays.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the aforementioned utter lack of self-respect (never standing up for himself) and subservience to mikoto's wellbeing (being willing to 'disappear' for mikoto's sake, claiming his all-encompassing purpose is to protect 09) implies a low self esteem. the end of Double as well as just how fucking miserable he sounds at towards end of Neoplasm betrays that he does feel immense guilt for 'his' actions, but only in relation to how the intolerable identity/experience he holds causes harm to mikoto.
'john', ultimately, is a character who represents a lot of self-hatred. he hates what he represents, he hates what he 'brings' to 09's identity, and he hates himself for existing and serving as a constant reminder of their identity as a killer that distresses mikoto and threatens their guilt-free manufactured reality so much.
Tumblr media
(timeline translation document)
mikoto also targets 'john' to blame him for 'causing problems', to add layers to the self-hatred. 'john' counters emotionally, evoking his subservience and desire to protect, and defending his existence on the basis that he tried to help.
practically, i believe 'john' does help, by protecting mikoto from the reality that 'he' (09) killed people. but in 09's eyes, 'john's' 'helping' is 09's unexplainable and fragmented violent outburst, and thus 'john' has done a crap job at helping anything. this leads 'john' to not understand his value as an alter and hate himself, being ready to throw himself under the bus for mikoto's sake to 'save him' from the consequences of 09's guilt, and leads mikoto to lash out at 'john'.
i'll just say, from experience, throwing blame between alters that are associated with traumatic experiences is an unfortunate and common experience with DID. i even talk about it in my DID representation doc, as to illustrate why self-compassion and tolerance is vital to healing.
It’s very easy for us DID folk to simply wish that all of it would go away - to wish all of them would go away - because they must be the root of all our problems. They’re too needy, they’re too sad, they’re too angry, they hurt me, and I don’t understand them. I wish they would leave. I just want peace, we think. (...) Regardless of how alien and aggressive we feel, people with DID aren’t possessed, and our hurting and self-harming and destructive parts aren’t demons. They’re traumatised facets of a traumatised person. And no part of a traumatised person deserves to be repressed and vilified and shunned. (...) To me, a hopeful narrative and resolution is anything that can bring the parts together cohesively while loving their differences. (...) Navigating the decades of internal conflict and self-hatred and transforming it into tolerance and love. — Me, The Subjective Comprehensive Guide to [DID] Representation
... great job with the tolerance and love, guys.
conclusion / tl;dr:
i don't think 'john' as an alter appeared one day and decided to kill people to help mikoto cope with work stress.
i think 'john' is a very complicated part of mikoto, that identifies with the act and identity of killing, to keep it from mikoto and protect him. he presents himself as the 'kind of person' that would kill, and who is different to mikoto, because to 09, mikoto is not that 'kind of person'.
i think 09 use DID and the distinctions between alters to protect themselves psychologically, because that's why the disorder exists.
i also think it gives them an advantage in Milgram: by leaning into their DID and maladaptive self-ostracisation, they can attempt to convince the audience that 09's guilt is split between two alters: an innocent and a guilty.
using this, 'john', who hates himself as it is, promises to the audience that he will vanish himself on the condition mikoto is voted innocent, making himself useful one last time and finally 'saving' mikoto in the way he feels he has failed to thus far.
epilogue / reflection
so! i hope i make sense, and i really hope i haven't forgotten to cover anything glaring.
this is an all-encompassing way of reading 09 to me, and if it is canon like i believe, 09 may be a shockingly sensitive and accurate portrayal of DID. but to unearth this interpretation you need to dive into a lot of subtext and dodge a lot of intentional misdirection than leans into stigma and negative stereotypes of DID, so i sort of understand why a lot of people fall short, end up taking things at face value, or otherwise feel unqualified to dissect what's being written and claimed.
i hope my analysis and commentary helps, and please know that i am also always open to yap about these guys or DID representation in general if anyone would like. this is a very strong interest of mine, and i love picking fiction and DID representation apart, as well as demystifying the condition for people!
thank you for getting to the end of this, i know it's an essay and a half.
if you read this all the way through, even ignoring the text in images, this post comes out at over 3.5k words. this is longer than any college essay i've ever written. good grief. but it's over. thank you for sticking with me.

Hi! I hope you don't mind the sudden question, but i got really into Milgram recently and was wondering: What reasoning did people give when they voted Haruka guilty in the second trial? Like, generally speaking, what did the consensus seem to be?
Haruka is a character i strongly relate to, so i have a lot of Thoughts about him.
Firstly: Wow the start of the second trial was that long ago, huh 😅
Secondly: I need to explain that Haruka's trial was a bit different than most Not sure how recently you joined but in a normal trial, the MV will upload the same day a CD releases, and stuff like the instrumental, DECO covers and most importantly the voice drama will be officially uploaded at the same time
But for Haruka, due to some unspecified CD issue, we were getting the MV as planned then wouldn't get the voice drama for another two weeks This will be very important to his voting
Thirdly: Going into his trial, things were uncertain, a lot of people really liked Haruka and were very worried for him due to his new relationship with Muu. Whom many saw as a potential bad influence or threat. I won't get into it too much, but before this trial it was definitely more common to have a.... soft image of Haruka as a harmless little guy who had gone through a lot, who just made some mistakes because he didn't know any better
Its worth remembering that without the context of AKAA, Weakness is a very dream-like MV and not many were sure which parts were real or imagined One of the biggest debates about weakness was about if the blue haired child was a younger bother or Haruka himself It all seems quite quaint from here Some people thought Haruka might not have even killed a person, just animals, I was even considering a theory suggesting Haruka was in milgram for his own suicide (in the words of Danganronpa 'killing the person who is most important to you: Yourself') The girl with the plait wasn't thought about much as other than a possible childhood friend due to her being shown running next to young Haruka.
Fourth: The premiere of AKAA was super emotional and intense, it was a beautiful MV But like Purge March later, it would contextualise parts of Weakness we didn't expect it to Mainly the animal murder and the girl's death.
But without the voice drama, many were unsure what verdict would be best for Haruka Despite the failure of T1 Amane, many still thought we could fix the prisoners through voting right Some people saw this vote as a chance to get Haruka to break up with Muu if we played our cards right Overall people were confused and conflicted and couldn't wait for the voice drama to come out I think the best summary of feelings is a comment from the top of the AKAA comments section
Tumblr media
This was posted right after AKAA came out and reflected a common mood
This part of his voting period was very strange. Because of the uncertainty, people were pretty split People didn't think he deserved an innocent verdict, but they didn't want to punish him so harshly with a guilty one either And it turned into an interesting situation: What happens if a prisoner gets exactly 50%? It was an unlikely truce between two passionate sides but for about 2 weeks straight, 50-50 was sustained Or more accurately, it was a constant flux of 49.9-50.1, changing by the hour if not minute (I actually dreamt up a fic of this causing Haruka to get a migraine but like most of my fics it never materialised)
Then the voice drama released
At the time I was the mod of the second biggest milgram server (rip Fancult - unfortunately that place got nuked so I'll have to go off memories alone) so I got to watch as a lot of people gathered and listened to the VD at the same time We were still waiting on translations, but still people could appreciate the acting and pick out key words like the prisoners' names and... other common phrases
お母さん, "Okaasan" The Japanese word for 'mother' or 'mum'
Tumblr media
By the time we got to here it was Harukover 😔
Then a second Okaasan hit the verdict
Tumblr media
And this giant mess ended with the suicide threat that's been haunting us for the rest of the season...
Tumblr media
Needless to say, people were not too pleased
The 50-50 pipe dream was immediately shot down and betrayed
Tumblr media
This graph (by paiplushie on twt) shows it pretty clearly
One thing to keep in mind is that even before Muu's MV was out, people were certain she'd be voted guilty, there was a fervour for it (mostly because people saw her as having taken advantage of Haruka and having the wrong attitude towards her verdict)
For some reason, voting Muu innocent was never really considered an option
It was 'Haruka threatened to kill himself if we vote Muu guilty, how do we stop him doing that after we do' [personally I voted him innocent because I had a pipe dream that if both Haruka and Muu were inno then they'd be obnoxious about it but unharmed]
People justified voting guilty in different ways, some thought it'd make him break up with Muu and not want to die for her, some just didn't want to enable his action (threatening suicide is awfully manipulative) and some people genuinely believed that physical restraint was the most effective way to prevent him from attempting suicide... which all I'll say is I disagree with that logic
But yeah, once the VD was out it never really showed any signs of returning to inno

Squad 312 Valentine’s day headcanons? Hope you’re having a good day!
Ooh fun!
~~
Kal is an expert at Valentines Day - we stan a simp king
Anyway, he does breakfast in bed for Auri with her favourite comfort foods
He learnt to make some of her parents standard comfort foods so he always makes her something that reminds her of her first home
He always buys the prettiest flowers for their home and then will usually give her two presents
The first is whatever practical gift she asked for when he asked what she wanted
The other is normally something very frivolous but she always loves it - it’s normally a pair of shoes haha
They usually go out for a romantic dinner in the evening and the Auri drags him to whatever trashy movie is inevitably coming out on Valentine’s Day.
Kal never asks for anything for VD but Auri always treats him to something intimate even if it’s not a physical present.
She likes the Charles Boyle classic of washing his hair when they’re getting ready for dinner
Saedii and Tyler do a very low-key Valentine’s Day
Usually Tyler will buy Saedii a new ornamental dagger and Saedii will get Tyler something inevitably boring related to his interests
one year it was a model ship, but Tyler said it was appropriately romantic for VD bc the ship was the same class as the ship Saedii and him met properly on
They normally do a dinner date but bc of their jobs they did it over video call for a few years
Fin and Scarlett fall somewhere in the middle, just depends how life is year to year.
They tend to be least fussed on making sure they celebrate VD on the day itself, so they often will do the valentines-ey things anywhere from a week to a month afterwards
The first few years they were together, they were very typical with the whole thing
Chocolate, flowers and romantic dinners were staples
They got creative after they got married and more so when they had kids
But they always get it on for VD. 3/5 of their kids have birthdays in the month that is 10 months after Valentines that’s all I’m saying
Anyway…
But they do always do something nice to celebrate Valentines, which is part of why they don’t mind if they’re waiting a week or two to actually properly spend time with each other
To everyone’s surprise, Zila is the one more likely to put effort into valentines for her and Nari
Nari tends to forget when valentines is approaching but Zila tend not to forget anything, so she’ll start planning Valentines just after new years
Usually Zila’s presents are ones Nari will love, including a new pair of combat boots or organising a surprise visit from Nari’s family
Nari gives Zila less functional presents but Zila loves them as well.
She always gets given a new pair of earrings but has also loved every book or outfit Nari buys
One year, Nari got Magellan to shut the fuck up for a full week as a present. Nari got very lucky that Valentine’s Day
*peace sign*

Favourite Mahler Moment™? (That is, do you have a favourite passage from Mahler's music?) :)))
omg.. what a difficult question... here are a few that come to mind immediately because i can't pick just one ^^
I LOVE the moment in mahler 2.5 when the full choir finally comes in, but they're all still just sitting, and it's so quiet and gentle.... soooo easy to ignore on a recording but so breathtaking in person. I could easily put many different parts of the mahler 2 finale here though. obviously
the sudden key change at the end of 4.3.... the whole moment you're like please resolve please resolve and then near the end instead of resolving the chord mahler is like PSYCH NEW KEY!!!!!!! its so breathtaking. i picked this for the 1sec mystery poll snippet :)
the very end of 7.5 when the percussion section (namely cowbell THANK YOU COWBELL!!!!) starts going bananas. that gives me chills every fucking time. layered on top of the different themes from the symphony all intertwined and overlapping... dude. this was also a mystery poll :)
I picked out some (SHORT, not full movement) spotify clips if you'd like but i also have a fav mahler recordings playlist here. im particularly picky about the texture of that cowbell in 7.5...

The Mentorship, Part 4
Tumblr media
The Mentorship
Characters: Curt Hennig/FemOC , eventual Scott Hall/FemOC
Parts 4 of ? (Parts not chapters, parts length varies)
Word Count: 3346 -----Part 1 Part 2 Part 3----
Warnings/Considerations: Smut, Age Gap, Power Dynamics, Dirty Talk, swearing
----------------------------------------------------------------
It was after 2am when Curt stumbled into the room, slurring curses at the door knob as he struggled with the key. The room was dark and it did him no favors as he bumped his knee against the TV stand. He fumbled with his clothes, tossing them haphazardly to the floor, strewing them about. He threw the covers back and flopped on the bed once he was completely naked. He did not have much consideration for modesty now.
He turned to see Brinkley sleeping, she lay on her back, facing him as she breathed slowly and deeply. His eyes focused slowly, blurring here and there, but he could see the outline of her nipples as the thin, worn t-shirt lay against them. He felt like an idiot for turning her down. He was having trouble remembering what the big deal was about limiting her anyway.
He could tell her that she could have all she wanted as long as she didn’t hump around the entire locker room. He didn’t feel like getting vd from the guys he worked with. He was pretty sure she'd jump his bones every night if he allowed it. The more he thought about it, the more worked up he became. But something in his brain said not to take things too far and even in a drunken haze, he knew to listen.
In his fist, he gripped his cock, his other arm bent behind his head. He switched from glancing at her slowly rising tits, to closing his eyes and remembering the times he’d been inside her. He let the images aid him as he stroked, his body tensing.
Brinkley was roused in the dark. She couldn’t quite understand what she felt at first. But as consciousness crept in, she realized the bed was shaking a little. The street lamp peeking through the crack in the curtains was the only light and her eyes took a minute to adjust. But between the noises and the motion she was feeling, she realized Curt was back. And that he was worked up.
She found herself a little irritated at first. It seemed he was horny after all, but still turned her down. It wasn’t until she smelled the heavy scent of alcohol in the air, that she thought it might have been spurred by inebriation. But regardless of the inspiration, she was titillated by what she was witnessing as she peeked through her eyelids. She was fascinated by how he gripped himself, how his hand moved along the rigid flesh. His hips flexed, and he groaned in his chest
Brinkley couldn’t believe how much she ached between her thighs and knew she was getting wet. She couldn’t make a move, it wasn’t right. Her respect and trust in him dictated her resistance. But, she desperately wanted to help him. She wanted to help herself, too, but dared not to move, wanting to see him continue.
Curt quickened his strokes, trying to keep quiet. He didn’t want her to wake up to find him doing this. If she did and even hinted that she wanted him, he’d throw those covers off and bury his dick in her before she’d know what happened. He felt his balls tighten at that thought and he stroked his cock faster.
“Fuck…Brinkley,” He grunted quietly as he came, his cum pooling on his stomach as it shot from the tip, “Fuck…”
Brinkley bit her lip, again fascinated by the sight before her. She had never seen a cock cumming before and it was hotter than she’d imagined. Maybe it was because it was Curt. She wasn’t sure, but she did know that she had a nagging desire to lick the cum from his stomach. She knew that would likely mortify him if she did so. It would serve him right the way he’d been teasing her so far this trip.
Ultimately, she did not want to deter her chance at cashing in her pass with him, so she remained still, her eyes secretly trained on his cock as he let it lay against his torso.
Curt lay for a moment, catching his breath. Once his head was a little more clear, he cleaned up the evidence and glanced over at Brinkley, who still lay apparently undisturbed by his self-pleasuring. He felt a lingering disappointment that he didn’t throw caution to the wind and drunkenly fuck her. He’d have lasted twice as long, probably longer than she could have handled. She’d probably have walked out of there bow-legged the next day.
Curt passed out as those thoughts circled in his head, he barely managed to throw a sheet over his waist and legs.
Morning came early and though Brinkley was more rested, she still didn’t want to get up. The shrill blare of the alarm clock on the far end of the room was enough to drag her from the warm cocoon of blankets, though. She slapped the top of it until it ceased, rubbing her face and trying to wake up. She glanced over at Curt, sprawled out over more than his half of the bed, still in the same position as when he’d passed out, the sheet still barely covering him from the waist down.
She dressed quickly in the bathroom, hearing a deep groan from the room. She would imagine his hangover would be decent. He hadn’t drank the entire time they’d been away from the road, so his tolerance might have not been as he remembered.
“Jesus, what the fuck,” Curt’s voice was rough as she slowly sat up on the side of the bed. He rubbed his forehead, dragging the sheet to lay in his lap.
Brinkley came out of the bathroom, tying her hair up behind her head.
“Well good morning, sunshine,” She chirped at him, receiving a glare in response, “Have fun last night?”
“It’s too early in the day for you to bust my balls,” He warned, “Where the fuck is my bag?” He tried to look around, but moved his head too quickly and he winced.
Brinkley sighed, but retrieved it, dropping it at his feet.
“Your Highness,” she taunted him. Another glare put her on notice and she returned to the bathroom to finish readying herself as he stood. She was sure he wouldn’t care if he was stark naked in front of her, but she did. It wasn’t going to subdue her libido to be constantly faced with what she was craving.
She had just finished gathering her things and packing them away when Curt invaded the bathroom and motioned for her to leave. At least he’d managed boxers now. She left quickly, grabbing the spare room key and decided to load her bags and avoid his sour mood.
Her timing was impeccable, opening the trunk as the rest of the party made their way outside. It seemed like more than she remembered as they slung their bags at her feet. At least most of the ‘Kliq’ set them down, other’s nearly chucked them at her. Scott Steiner was one of those, she couldn’t say she was surprised.
She loaded the bags into the cars, heaving a few back and forth as she was ribbed by the guys about which car was whose. It was much less funny on this side of the joke.
Just when she thought she was done, she looked up to see Scott leaning against their car with his arms folded, sunglasses hiding his likely bloodshot eyes and a toothpick rolled around in his cheshire grin.
“I know, I know, you get shotgun,” She let go of the idea that she would escape the backseat on this trip.
“Well yeah,” He said as if it were an inevitability,”But what about my bag, rookie?”
Brinkley looked around and saw no other bags laying about, wondering if she loaded in the wrong car.
“I don’t see it,” She continued to scan the area.
“I’m not carrying it halfway out just to hand it to you,” He motioned towards his room, the door slightly ajar. Brinkley stifled the urge to groan out of frustration. She grabbed the bag from where it lay on the floor, grabbing handfuls of the clothes still on the floor next to it and jamming them in the bag.
“I don’t want my things wrinkled…try again,” He had followed her in and stood over her as she kneeled on the floor. She huffed but took them back out to fold them and place them in the bag more carefully.
“Curt trained this one up good,” Scott laughed as Kevin leaned against the doorframe.
“Wonder if she knows any other tricks,” Kevin teased, “Oh, and, don't forget mine, it's over there,” Kevin pointed and Brinkley’s eyes followed to the empty duffle back next to a pile of clothes. She managed to balance Scott’s bag on her shoulder and once she was finished with Kevin’s bag, she tried to sling it over the other, instead knocking herself off balance and to the floor. She resorted to dragging them behind her out onto the sidewalk.
“Ooooh, did the Outsiders get you instead of Curt?” Rick teased, sitting on the hood of his car.
Brinkley was cross, but swallowed her irritation.
“They wish…” She mumbled, “Plus no way I could have stayed in that room, it smells,” She continued dragging the bags to the trunk.
“What’s it smell like,” Eddie asked.
“Sex and Shame,” Brinkley said after managing both bags in their respective vehicles. She was relieved when her joke was well received, smirking herself a bit.
By the time Curt emerged, everyone was loading into their own vehicles. He didn’t say much, hiding his own eyes with sunglasses.
“I could drive,” she offered, knowing she was probably the freshest of the bunch,”Just need you to tell me where to turn and stuff.”
“Get in the back,” He barked a little. It was going to be hard enough working out feeling like garbage, he wasn’t in the mood to be jolted around by some young driver. He didn’t care at the moment whether or not he hurt her feelings, but he could tell she might have been a little wounded.
At the local gym, the group took over the free weights. Brinkley focused on cardio at first, jogging on a treadmill before letting Chavo and Eddie convince her to join them. She knew very well that they were both the overtly flirtier of the bunch. But at least they still helped her get a legitimate workout. And they made her laugh. They kept pretending to fight over who lifted while she spotted.
She couldn’t deny that she enjoyed the flirting and they seemed to as well. Of course they did, it was their general medium of communication. But it provided her another breather from two men that, in very different ways, she sexually thirsted for. She knew she needed to develop other friendships if she was going to last any length of time in this business.
She waited in the car as most of them hit the tanning beds, taking the chance to relax and rest after working out. She lay with her headphones in, the windows down a little, a slight breeze wafting through. She lay with her arm draped over her eyes as she listened to music. She must’ve nodded off, because she awoke with a start, realizing that they were now at the next arena.
“Rise and shine, sleeping beauty,” Scott opened her door and looked down at her. SHe squinted her eyes looking up at him, his crotch the closest thing to her. She gulped as she looked up and realized his eyes didn’t quite meet hers and it was clear he was looking at the low neckline of her shirt.
She sat up quickly, pulling the now silent headphones out of her ears and sliding towards the door. Scott held his hand down and she looked at it for a moment suspiciously. She took it and he helped her from the car with complete chivalry. She noticed Curt watching and dropped her hand quickly and went to grab her bag from the trunk. As she started towards the building, she stopped when she heard a throat clear.
Curt and Scott both looked at her expectantly as they stood next to the open trunk. She let out a discontented sigh, plodding back to the car. While Scott and Curt strutted ahead of her, she labored under the weight of three bags, trying to maintain her balance. Kevin pulled up as they walked, calling out of his window.
“I got another one for ya,” He said.
“FUCK.OFF.” she retorted. That big boy could carry his own bag.
Tonight, she repeated her outfit, it was too hot for the long pants and though the zippered top was long sleeve, it was cropped enough that it wasn’t stifling. She also only zipped it up as far as Curt had suggested. She wound the edge of a paper clip through the teeth of it to keep it from slipping too far down and giving the audience too much of a show.
Tonight she intervened as Curt battled Kevin. He paid more attention to her than other opponents, helping to get her over. As she slipped in the ropes, she placed a phony kick to his good knee and he buckled, but turned around, drawing a pop from the crowd. She looked around as if she was in trouble and needed saving, but Curt was still on the mat, distracting the referee.
Kevin grabbed her and put her head between his legs. Brinkley buried her laughter, feeling the weight of him on the back of her neck, wondering if every other opponent thought about the fact that Kevin’s balls were on the back of their head. Before he could officially powerbomb her, Curt intervened and she rolled out of the ring. She remembered to appear angry and upset, even as Curt won, staring daggers at Kevin in perfect kayfabe fashion. She loudly complained to Curt as they walked back up the ramp, insulting Kevin as she looked back and the crowd cheered when Kevin waved and winked towards them.
“That…was really fun,” She could drop the act now backstage, grinning widely and feeling giddy. She waited for Nash to make it back out as well, her buzz from the crowd still coursing through her. Kev smirked at her as she greeted him, complimenting her.
“You did good, girl,” He said, peeling off his singlet top, “Might get some use outta you, yet,” He winked again.
“Ha ha, very funny,” She felt almost jittery, she could understand why so many used other substances, this was a hard high to just come down from.
“I told her she was gonna turn face if she’s not careful,” Curt tried to slick his hair back from the mess it had become in the match.
“Ew, no,” She said as they entered the locker room, “I like being the villain,”
“I knew you were a bad girl,” Scott ribbed from the center of the room, “A bad guy knows when he sees his own kind,”
His words drew an instinctive response from her body; he was really good about doing that to her, as if he had a secret map of all her buttons and was ready to push them at a moment's notice.
“I don’t know, that crowd seems to like her,” Curt said, nudging her shoulder.
“Of course they do, in those booty shorts they all wanna fuck her” Kevin wiped his face with a towel, wicking the sweat from his arms next. The guys all laughed, Brinkley just rolled her eyes.
“That’s the second time someone’s said that,” she said with her hands on her hips.
“And tomorrow, I’ll make it a third,” Scott popped his eyebrows at her several times. She gave up trying to control the conversation and turned to the locker she’d placed her bag in.
“Where’s my stuff?” She said out loud, but only to herself at first. She looked around, trying to retrace her arrival. She knew she picked this locker, it was number 8 for her birthday.
“Lose something?” Scott asked, but in a tone that sounded like he already knew she had.
“My bag…all my stuff,  it's not here,” she still searched her mind hoping she wasn't already getting confused between venues two nights in.
“Well that sucks,” Steve Borden said, nearly cackling as he left the room.  His excess of amusement was her first indication. She looked back at Scott, who seemed to be equally amused.
“Where is it…did you do something with it?” She tried to plead a little pitifully, hoping it would appeal to his human decency if he had any to spare her.
“I dunno, all these bags look alike to me, probably got mixed up with someone else,” Scott shrugged, resting his hands behind his head as he leaned back.
“C’mon man, that’s ALL of my stuff, my clothes, everything,” She looked down at her shiny, vinyl ring outfit, “I can’t just wear this everywhere,”
“I don’t know why not, I wouldn’t mind it,” Scott drawled back at her, Kevin laughed, cracking open a beer as he watched their exchange.
Curt was amused, but a tiny part of him felt bad, like he wanted to protect her. He couldn’t coddle her though, she needed to learn how to fend for herself.
“Yeah, well, you’re not the one wearing it,” She folded her arms across her chest as her annoyance grew. Curt wondered if she knew how much that just amplified her cleavage and probably wouldn’t help her case.
“Good point, take it off and let me try it on,” Scott’s voice lowered a little and his eyes glinted with mischief.
“Yeah, I second that, take it off,” Kevin clapped his hands at the idea.
“You guys are hillllaaarious,” She stalled, saying anything that wouldn’t make her seem more flustered.
“You better hurry up and find it, we’re leaving soon.” Curt warned, tapping his watch after putting it back on.
“I’m trying,” She tried her best not to convey too much attitude towards him, but he could see exactly what was happening. This was not her fault. This was beyond her control. She gave up trying to reason with Scott or Kevin. They were obviously involved in its disappearance so why would they help her find it?
She searched all of the lockers, the bathrooms, the showers. She found only mostly naked men and no duffle bag. She knew she could manage the evening in this getup, but she needed pajamas, clothes for the next day, all of her travel things. As she made it back to the locker room, it had cleared out and all that remained, to her disappointment was her duffle bag, flat and empty on the table.
She screamed under her breath but grabbed the bag and booked it towards the parking lot. Oddly enough, she was asked for an autograph that she hurriedly agreed to. As she jogged away, she realized it was her first and she felt weird about it, but it made her smile to think about the little kid that asked.
Thank goodness this gear was comfortable enough to run in because Curt and Scott were already in the car, Kevin, Eddie, and Steve's car already pulling out. She did NOT want to have to beg a ride off any of the other guys. She didn't know them well and didn't feel like trading favors for a ride.
“Barely made it,” Scott whistled low, “we about left ya. Looks like you found your bag,” he said looking over his shoulder, a shit-eating grin spread wide across his face.
“Yeah,” she held up the empty parcel, shaking it, “A lot of good it does me empty,” she dropped it back on the seat, clearly cross.
“What's up your ass?” Curt asked as he pulled off. He and Scott got a good laugh as she pouted in the back seat.

16 & 22 for the violence ask!
thank you anon these are such good ones!
16 you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterisation, trope, headcanon etc)
obviously i understand why people like it but i don't read self-insert or ofc fic! which is not a slight at all as lots of it is incredibly high-quality and well-researched. but one of my favourite things about fic is how it lets me explore chearacters i already know further (which imo enhances the porn).
also i have never really read or written it, or frankly any m/f ships, in any fandom. even as a twelve-year-old i was like oh no draco/reader or harry/hermione for me thank you i would exclusively like to read about oliver wood kissing percy weasley in the quidditch locker room
so i was definitely surprised by quite how popular it is in hbo war!
22 your favourite part of canon that everyone else ignores
this is stretching the definition of canon to encompass actual history lmao but easy company beyond the key players we focus on each episode! both in the sense that e.g. babe and roe don't feature much in crossroads but were there, so you can have fun filling in the blanks as to what they were up to during mourmelon (this was also when lip interrupted the nco pillow fight haha), and also that if you read e.g. web's book he basically experiences the war with an entirely different group (mccreary, christenson, vd, tiny baby clancy lyall, burr smith). i like finding out more about them and it tickles me when they pop up.
also i love moose heyliger (who was with easy originally at toccoa!). it is criminal that there is not a single moose fic on ao3

an attempt
let's see if this works! hopefully by not tagging this it doesn't get recommended to anyone since. I feel like it reads as fucking insane without context (honestly even with context). but just in case if you're not reading the fic and somehow still ended up here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/52369693/chapters/132478987
and before I say anything I’d like to first shout out this tumblr post for letting me link this in the chapter notes in the first place bc I Would Not Have figured it out myself:  https://www.tumblr.com/gentrychild/653404474056081408/ao3-how-to-insert-imageslinks-into-the-notes-of#
so!! Milgram The Musical!! there’s a couple key parts to how I imagine the tech for this thing to work. I don’t know all the details for the format of the show (frankly it doesn’t matter a ton lol), but I’m imagining it to be like. for each prisoner, there’s interrogation (basically like their VDs, except on stage), then blackout for quick scene transition, and then they sing their song. then blackout and they move on to the next prisoner and rinse and repeat. except for 010 who Causes Problems, which would be the climax of the musical and leads into the theoretical resolution.
so yea! I figure there’s probably 12 songs? one for each prisoner, plus two group numbers at the beginning and end (Undercover ft. the prisoners singing their parts, plus an unspecified ending song lol). there’s only one trial bc that would be PLENTY enough content for a musical already, so the songs are probably some fusion of the t1 and t2 (and t3 when that comes out?) songs. idk the specifics of that don’t really matter. also just, note, none of the prisoners have names in the show bc even I have my limits lmao. so if I’m talking about the characters in the musical I refer to them by their number, if I’m talking about the characters in the fic they get their names.
but anyway the important thing is! I think the main tech objective for the show is to make sure the visuals and sound of every prisoner’s song feels distinct, both from the other songs and from the interrogation scenes. the secondary objective is that the songs should feel kinda surreal; they take place in the prisoner’s minds, so they should be very separate from “reality” (in quotes bc what even is Milgram). so most of my planning was done with that in mind :)
DECK:
okay. so! most of the show’s tech is probably lighting/projection-based to accomplish all the different tones and aesthetic shifts, but there are some fun little things with the deck too, not least of which being the y’know!! rotating disc!! à la Les Mis or Hamilton. I think it’d at least be super cool for Undercover and 010’s song (which has some Deep Cover stuff fs), and definitely in other places too because the songs are all kinda wild lol. I found this tutorial and, in my humble opinion, Kazui and Hinako are indeed insane enough as directors to want this, and Kotoko and Kazui are indeed insane enough to build this: http://theaterdad.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-make-revolving-stage.html?m=1
in terms of physical set pieces, there’s of course the interrogation table and chairs, which comes on for every interrogation and comes off after every “sing your sins.” there’s also the Warden’s chair (whatever the fuck Es is sitting on at the beginning of Undercover), and maybe some bonus pieces for the prisoners’ songs? like possibly school desks for 004, hospital bed for 005, round table for 010, that sort of stuff.
SOUND:
I don’t know a whole ton about sound, but I imagine Yuno’s trying to set it up so that the interrogation scenes feel like you’re watching two characters from the outside, and the songs feel like you’re immersed inside the character’s head (since yknow,,, that’s kinda the central conceit of the show lol). I’m envisioning that she’s gonna have the interrogation dialogue sound like it’s mostly coming from the stage (so like, the closer to the stage a speaker is, the louder it is), and the music sound like it’s kinda coming from everywhere at once (so all the speakers are similar volume). so that’s why she’s doing a ton of repatching to get the individual speaker control she wants to create that illusion. overall I think she’s just trying to have fun with the whole thing which. as she should!!
PROJECTION:
so!! like I said earlier a big goal for the tech of this show is to make everything feel distinct, and the projection would be a GIANT part of that. I’ve only worked one show with projection in it but there’s so many frickin possibilities you can do with it so,, here we go!
first of all—the INTERROGATIONS. most theaters have stage monitors (basically just security cameras pointed at the stage from the house, which can be viewed in dressing rooms so actors know where they are in the show and can keep track of their  entrances). and I think it’d be really cool to also project that in the background in real-time as the interrogation scenes are happening (probably in black and white). partly to just make those scenes a bit more visually interesting, and partly bc I think it would severely fit the aesthetic?? plus that way, except during the blackouts, the projection won’t disappear and reappear as much, which I think would look cleaner and more cohesive.
BUT still very distinct!! bc in contrast to the camera vibes in the interrogations, the songs have their own cool colorful background art and visuals and fuckinnn stock footage projected!! whatever fits the vibe lmao. I think Haruka basically Goes Off—like the designer roles were decided for the show before they went on break, so he’s been working on this for months. each song’s visuals have their own style and color palette (yknow,, like how Milgram MVs work lol).
I’m gonna go on a whole separate rant about lighting but projection-wise:
001’s visuals mostly resemble the Weakness MV—so very colorful and very much drawn with nice smooth water/bubble animations, but also plus some of the edgy writing and glitchy stuff in All Knowing and All Agony. I think Haruka does project (haha,, pun) a little bit onto 001 (wow I can’t imagine why), so the art for that song hITS.
002’s aesthetic is probably closest to Umbilical with like. pink void, balloons, the DNA staircases (possibly Haruka’s first venture into 3D modeling? which he uses later for Undercover and stuff), and the photographs (provided by the actress), but I really like the water ripples from Tear Drop so there’s some of that in there too.
003 is most like Bring It On with all the video game aesthetic glitchy stuff going on, except add in a bit of spray paint imagery bc I think that’s really cool.
004 is probably mostly It’s Not My Fault? I mean BUGS,, and honey and stuff. some classroom things like in After Pain (specifically the chalkboard has some stuff on it?) and a few real-life shots, but a lot of weird bug things yknow.
005 is mainly Throw Down for all the flower symbolism (this is where flower stock footage comes in lmao), plus elements from Triage like the hospital bed, heart monitor, and of course the many many surgery receipts.
006 is based mostly on This Is How To Be In Love With You (magazine vibes, again photos provided by the actress), but with a bit of the angsty stuff in I Love You (the fucked up carousel is good shit).
007. is. interesting. since half and Cat are so different it’s a little hard to picture how the combined version would work (current idea is it starts slow and ballad-y for like. a couple lines, and then launches into jazzy vibes—perhaps something a bit like Theater by natori (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3rDLizb4sI)). but I’m imagining that 007 is a PERFORMER during his song. by that I mean when it gets jazzy he straight up walks down from the stage into the audience and has a whole Moment prancing around in the house with spotlights (aren’t we glad Fuuta set up the movers??). so my idea for the projection is that it’s mostly abstract and collage-y kinda like the instrumental break in Cat, and it does reflect the instruments (like the dancing saxophone lol), but it’s also got things like the apple, the glass, cigarettes, all the magic trick stuff, and the ring, and occasional cut-ins of irl stock photos of things like the bar. just little hints up there that are easy to miss if you’re focusing on all the Extremely Distracting actor in the audience and crazy dancing collage happening. also, color palette is probably warmer/red-er just to lean into the whole theater thing a bit more.
008!! I love the feltboard look at the end of Magic and I think that’s the main aesthetic the visuals would have, but with occasional cuts to irl photos of disturbing stuff like the taser. kinda like how Purge March does it? I almost feel like it’d be a bit like one of those analog horror things based on kids’ content, where the scary parts are 1) mostly just implied and 2) don’t last long but the juxtaposition is really jarring.
009 my beloved,, I really like the filming/camera vibes from MeMe, so the visuals probably involve a lot of that, and also the trains and glitch effects like in Double. ALSO. the MANNEQUINS. I have a mental image of Haruka sitting there debating what to do for 009, and then he looks up from his desk and sees his little pose reference mannequin and he’s like. Oh Yeah. so he takes pictures of it and photoshops it over/into some stuff, basically just turning it into like a whole mixed media art project thing (like this sort of vibe—Tatsuya Kitani MVs are frickin insane /pos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymtNhd_3CB8). and THEN. TAROT CARDS. after their pokémon battle Yuno lets Haruka borrow them, so he takes photos and uses them too (and uses the mannequins with them). the complicated disjointed mildly unsettling mixed media video collage aesthetic is *chef’s kiss* and I think it’d fit well with 009 and the film look.
010!! home stretch!! I don’t have much to say other than I think it mainly follows the Deep Cover vibes (bc seriously that MV is GORGEOUS), so plenty of chess piece imagery to go around. but also,,, wolves,,, more stock footage lmao.
and fINALLY!! UNDERCOVER!! very geometric and following the general Milgram aesthetic. definitely the projection design closest to the MV it’s based on. not to spoil anything but there might be a bit more detail on it next chapter? didn’t hear that from me tho ;)
and now!! hilariously short thing to finish this section off. after each prisoner’s song, there’s a blackout for them to exit and for the deck crew to set the interrogation table up for the next scene. during that transition I think it’d be fun if there was a pre-recorded video of them answering some of their interrogation questions as a little sendoff yknow? plus that helps not completely kill the momentum after each song.
LIGHTS:
oh my god. hi. me. HI. this is my SHIT. okay. so. LIGHTS. starting with a fun little aside about LEDs and incandescents—imo incandescent stage lights are the prettiest and most natural looking, buut they’re also less versatile than LEDs (for example, you need physical gels to change the color of incandescents, but a lot of LED light fixtures can have colors changed from the lightboard). there’s pros and cons to both and there’s pros and cons to having a mixed lights grid (currently working in a place with both—I actually like it personally but it is hard to match the colors/tones a lot of the time). most of the theater world is moving towards LEDs in general (partly for convenience, partly as regulations are shifting away from incandescents) but Kazui is a stubborn mf who’s held onto an incandescent grid for THIS long and he’s gonna keep it as long he possibly can lmao. Fuuta convinced him to let him overhaul the whole thing and mix in some LEDs over the summer (mostly a bunch of moving lights), so he’s got a bit of both to work with.
for the Milgram aesthetic, unnatural white LEDs is lowkey the vibe?? I think just a couple white spotlights on the interrogation table would kinda be all they need. Fuuta is definitely getting a shit ton of use out of his movers for that since they can be pointed in good angles as needed. and for UNDERCOVER,,, oh boy he has some FUN with that one. if you program them right white movers make really good searchlight lookin things let me tell you!! I did them for a show recently and they looked AWESOME but I didn’t get to keep them in the final version (“it’s not a light show” which. fair but ok) so I’m vicariously living my mover searchlight dreams through Fuuta <3 and also, the Undercover MV has a ton of cool white spotlight type things going on?? like spotlights pointed through bars which casts cool dramatic shadows. definitely he gets to play around a lot with that :D
and then on the flip side~!! for the prisoner songs!! I think the general lighting for those is mostly done with differently-gelled incandescents, since they just look much prettier and smoother in general. I think the more natural look would also help to make the songs more immersive, especially in comparison to the interrogations—Fuuta’s definitely the type of guy to take something like a hybrid grid and really use it to his advantage to emphasize that contrast in overall feel.
each prisoner song definitely has its own lighting scheme too, which are all set up to look cohesive in conjunction with the projections in each song, so now all those are getting balanced for color and intensity so it looks like it all flows together with the visuals.
001’s general wash color is like a bluish white? so like R#051 (Surprise Pink (it looks mostly white in practice)) plus a bit of blue. not a ton of color bc the projections here are so colorful.
002’s lights are actually probably cooler tones for the most part to contrast with the pink projection. largely based on Tear Drop since the lighting there is super blue and it’s so PRETTY.
003…R#003 Dark Bastard Amber my beloved <3 (nah but fr DBA looks so good on red hair, it’s also kinda golden-ish which I think would look good with the saturated video game color tones on the projection).
for 004 like. literally all of After Pain is so Surprise Pink it’s ridiculous (plus a bit of Dark Bastard Amber for like,, yknow the murder at sunset). I like Surprise Pink for the color contrast with the green honey, might also want to test some purple?
005! I’m thinking of this one gel color that’s a really nice soft light blue, I believe it’s R#60 No Color Blue? again not too much color for the lights here since the projection will have a lot of flowers.
006 is very much a pink wash. probably Surprise Pink mixed and contrasted with a darker purple? I haven’t worked with a ton of purple but it’s a pretty versatile color and I think it could be good for the angsty I Love You type projections.
007 would start in a special light, and then when he goes into the audience that’s all a person with a followspot lol. at that point there’d only be enough light on stage to keep the projection looking natural (very low DBA wash perhaps).
008 is another Surprise Pink-based lights wash without too much color since the visuals would be pretty vibrant on their own, but much darker and bluer for the grimmer projections. I feel like purple would be nice as an undertone for her for some reason?
009 is. interesting. I could see Fuuta having to rack his brain a little for this one (since I’m racking my brain over here lol), but. if I remember correctly No Color Blue plus a tiny tiny bit of Surprise Pink can kinda make a semi-convincing white white? I think that, plus some bright RGB Color Moments in the visuals, could hopefully do the job okay.
010 HI OKAY LET ME LIGHT THIS SONG PLEASE. fuckin BACKLIGHTS DUDE the SATURATED COLORS the PINK?!? THAT is R#039 SKELTON EXOTIC SANGRIA if I’ve EVER fuckin seen it (bro just trust me, the color itself looks hella dark but when there’s light shining through it it’s so VIVID and PRETTY okay I just. yes). that mixed with some kind of really saturated indigo (part of me is even wondering about black lights??) would be so good.
COSTUMES:
okay costumes!! so!! as we have seen Mikoto’s been very busy lol. he’s not the main costume designer but he’s like. assistant costume designer and the guy in charge of Making Stuff (lead craftsperson I think it’s technically called?), which in this case are the prisoner harnesses and the Warden costumes.
costume breakdown! each prisoner has their actual clothes, plus “jumpsuit” (whichever white jacket thing they have), and a harness. everything except the harnesses seems like it could probably just be bought/sourced from somewhere (which is still, I can say from experience, A Lot Of Work lmao,, so the rest of the costume team has been similarly busy). I’ve gone back and forth about whether they should change costumes for their songs, but I think everything’s smoother if they just keep the jumpsuit.
the exception is 010, who gets to do a quick change in the blackout before her song bc the Deep Cover drip is too good?? her harness and jumpsuit are probably attached somehow to be easy to remove at once. I’m imagining the way it works is that right at the blackout, the actress takes off the jumpsuit/harness setup, Mikoto goes on with deck crew for the scene transition with the coat, hat, and gloves (not enough time for a pants change so let’s just say she’s already wearing black pants and combat boots). he helps her get those on (let me tell you gloves are hARD in quick changes) and then he walks off with the jumpsuit/harness.
and finally the Warden! so Mikoto’s in charge of making the cape and the hat, and everything else can probably be sourced and modified as needed. someone’s probably having a lot of fun making the key necklace/props though!
well that was fun!! aren’t we glad I didn’t try to put all this in the notes?? I sure am lmao. the inherent slapdash-ness of the whole thing was kinda freeing actually and I had a blast just Saying Stuff, bc tech for Milgram The Musical has been living in my head rent-free for MONTHS and I’m glad I got to just put it all in words!! maybe I’ll do another one of these in the future if I need it lol. but anyway if you actually read to the end of this then 1) kudos <3 and 2) I hope it was at least moderately interesting, or at least enjoyable!
I don’t really know how to end this so. hope you have a nice day :D

okay teachers out today but they said to watch this and you guys get to have a class discussion when they're back [wheels in big cart with a crt on it]
[VD: The 84 transformers season 2 intro, 30 seconds. Action travels from space and then to character to character to give them bits of glamour shots. The animation has a lot of swinging and swooping movement in the characters and shot movement. Overall affect has a lot characters sliding in for enough time to pose or transform, and then slide back out. END ID]
somethingssss you can just tell they have that fucking spice to this. wiki creates the key animator on this as Nobuyoshi Habara [the part with the characters anyway] and so i guess he just had a fucking feel for making it swagful?
detail description of action from tf wiki below
The Autobot and Decepticon insignias come flying out from space and across the landscape of Cybertron before the scenery changes to that of Earth. The "Transformers" title then appears and is snatched in the jaws of Grimlock, where it morphs into Thrust. Grimlock releases Thrust as the rest of the Dinobots transform and fire upon Blitzwing. Blitzwing transforms to tank mode and makes the mistake of firing upon Omega Supreme, who transforms to robot mode and squashes him beneath his heel. Scrapper picks up the remains of Blitzwing, and Omega fires on the approaching Astrotrain, who transforms to space shuttle mode just as the tracks drop off into a pit of lava. Down in the lava, the Insecticons are swimming about for some reason. The lava then changes into a Tron-like grid where Optimus Prime and Megatron clash before sinking into a wormhole as the title explodes onto the screen.

Breaking Down the Nissan VIN Code: A 2023 Guide for Car Buyers
Tumblr media
When you’re on the hunt for a new or used Nissan, one of the most important pieces of information you’ll encounter is the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). It’s more than just a random string of characters; it holds a wealth of details about the car you're considering. As a car buyer in 2023, understanding how to decode the Nissan VIN can save you from potential headaches and provide clarity on the car’s history, make, model, and even country of manufacture. In this guide, we’ll break down the Nissan VIN code to help you navigate the process with ease.
The VIN is a 17-character alphanumeric code unique to each vehicle. Every Nissan, whether it's a Rogue, Altima, or Frontier, will have its own VIN, and while the structure of the VIN may seem complicated at first, each section contains critical information about the car. Understanding these sections is vital to making an informed decision when buying a car.
The first three characters of the Nissan VIN are the World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI). This part tells you where the car was built and which manufacturer made it. For Nissan vehicles, you’ll often see “1N” or “JN” as the beginning of the VIN. The “1” means the vehicle was manufactured in North America, while “J” indicates it was made in Japan, the home country of Nissan. The “N” identifies the manufacturer as Nissan.
Next, the vehicle descriptor section (VDS) comes in the middle of the VIN, ranging from the 4th to the 9th character. This segment provides specific details about the car’s model, body style, engine type, and safety features. For example, in a Nissan Rogue, these characters might specify if the car has front-wheel drive, an all-wheel drive system, or what type of engine it’s equipped with. It’s the part of the VIN that lets you know what makes this specific vehicle unique compared to others within the same make.
The 9th character is particularly important because it serves as a check digit to ensure the VIN is valid. This character is calculated using a complex algorithm that considers all the previous characters. While you don’t need to manually calculate the check digit, it’s good to be aware of its role in confirming that the VIN is legitimate.
The 10th character represents the model year of the vehicle. For example, a "3" indicates the car was manufactured in 2023. This simple yet crucial part helps you verify that the vehicle you’re buying matches the model year advertised by the seller.
The 11th character shows the assembly plant. Nissan has manufacturing facilities in various locations, and this character helps pinpoint where the vehicle was produced. Knowing where the car was built can sometimes offer insights into its quality and potential issues.
Finally, the 12th to the 17th characters are the serial number, which is essentially the vehicle’s unique ID. These numbers differentiate each car, even within the same model and year, and are used for record-keeping, tracking, and registration purposes.
Decoding the Nissan VIN is not just a matter of curiosity. It provides key information that helps you avoid purchasing a car with a hidden past. Whether you’re buying new or used, checking the VIN can alert you to potential issues like previous accidents, outstanding recalls, or even whether the car has been tampered with.
In 2023, car buyers have a wealth of resources at their disposal to check the history of a Nissan by using the VIN. Services like Carfax or AutoCheck allow you to verify if the car has been in an accident or if there are any reported issues with the vehicle. Additionally, understanding the VIN code lets you compare vehicles more accurately, helping you make a better decision when purchasing a car. click here
In conclusion, the Nissan VIN code is an essential tool for every car buyer in 2023. By understanding how to decode it, you gain insight into a car's origins, model specifications, and history. Before signing on the dotted line, always take the time to review the VIN and ensure you are making an informed and confident purchase.
