Hello! I am trying to find an old NCIS fic that I can't remember the name of or the author 😆 it's a Gibbs x Kate smutty fic where they both take the week off work and Abby calls it a 'sexcation'. At some point Kate says gunny but Gibbs mistakes it for Tony and gets a little jealous. Any guidance would be very appreciated!

Who's your favorite character you’ve written? Hmmmm…. I'm having a hard time choosing a single favorite - but I will choose the most fun. Cal Lightman from 'Lie to Me' was the absolute most assholic, entertaining and emotionally unstable character to write. And THAT was fun. 

How conscious are you about including symbolism or foreshadowing in your fics? Ah, it depends on the mood or theme of the fic. Sometimes I'm really aware of it and purposeful. Sometimes I'm distracted by squirrels. Or kittens.

"Sitting on the same park bench"

It was just one of those days. The lights of the office seemed too harsh; Abby and Ducky’s chatter was too much; Tony and Ziva’s bickering was far more than he could handle. He just needed a break.

The yippy dog currently running up to him seemed to disagree. “I am so sorry!” the petite brunette holding onto the leash apologized as her dog jumped up onto his lap and started licking his face as she jogged up to him. “She’s not usually like this! Especially around men. She’s tried to bite most of the men I try to bring home.”

“Must be bringing home the wrong sort of man,” he muttered, without really thinking as he scratched the dog behind her ears. He replayed his comment in his head and shut his eyes tightly, shaking his head, before looking up at her amused face. “Sorry. Didn’t mean that the way it came out.”

He expected that to be the end of it. She’d pick up her dog and walk off in a huff. She seemed like the type that would excel at a huffy exit. But much to his surprise, she laughed and sat down next to him on the park bench. “You’re probably right,” she said lightly, petting her dog’s rump as the dog continued to lick at Gibbs’ face. “But I have to at least give them a chance. Toni knows that I don’t judge based on first impressions, otherwise we’d have never ended up together.”

He looked over at her, eyebrows raised curiously. “Toni?”

She laughed and nodded. “Long story. Weird name for a dog, I know.”

“Just funny. I work with a Tony. He yaps almost as much as she does. It’s cuter when she does it though,” Gibbs said, making a face at the dog still happily sat in his lap.

The woman smiled as she watched them. “She’s seriously never like this with strangers. She bit me the first time we met at the shelter. You some sort of dog whisperer or something?”

“Afraid not. I’m a federal agent,” he said.

She nodded. “What agency?” In most towns, the federal agent line would get people jumpy, as if he was about to bust them for that joint they smoked when they were sixteen. But she seemed to take it all in stride. Gibbs looked up at her, giving her a once-over, trying to determine if she was an agent herself.

“NCIS,” he said finally, watching as there was a spark of recognition in her eyes.

“FBI. Word on the street is that your agency is full of cowboys who are pains in the ass. Toni can’t be *that* bad at judging character, can she?”

Gibbs laughed at that and shook his head. “Afraid so. You’re talking to the prime example of a cowboy and pain in the ass.” He looked over at her. “You don’t work with Fornell, do you?”

“Not usually, but our paths have crossed on occasion.” Her eyes narrowed, but there was a light of amusement in them. “You wouldn’t happen to be Agent Gibbs, would you?”

He laughed again and shrugged. “I would, actually.”

“Wow, if even half the stories that I’ve heard about you are true, I will definitely have to reconsider Toni’s judgement of character,” she said, laughing at Gibbs’ overly offended look. She then stuck out her hand. “Kate Todd.”

He smirked and reached over her dog, who was still perched happily in his lap, to shake her hand. “Jethro Gibbs. Though you apparently already figured that out.”

“I sure did – the first name was a surprise though,” she said teasingly. She stood up and clicked her tongue at Toni, tugging slightly at the leash. “Well, Toni and I should get going, Gibbs. Do you uh…come here a lot?”

He gave a noncommittal shrug. Kate’s lips quirked up in a smile. “Well, today’s my day off. But I usually come here for lunch when the weather’s nice. Around 1:30-ish…”

“Seems late for lunch,” he said, trying to figure out if what he thought was happening was actually happening.

She nodded. “Yeah, but it’s quieter. Better to clear your head…or get to know someone.” She jutted her chin towards the bench. “You even picked my favorite bench.”

Oh yeah, she was definitely dropping hints. “Well, it is a good bench. Might just decide to use it again. Maybe tomorrow, around 1:30?”

Kate smiled brightly. “It sounds like we’re lucky that the bench is big enough for two. At least tomorrow I’ll be without Toni. We’ll have more room and less dog slobber.”

Gibbs grinned. “Sounds like a pretty good afternoon.”

“Yeah, I think it will be.” She smiled at him and tugged lightly on Toni’s leash, starting to walk away. “See you tomorrow, Gibbs,” she said, looking back and tossing him a smile over her shoulder.
