Yhapojj shares new video single "hope u like me"

​Following a riotous NYC show that was shut down by the NYPD in December, Yhapojj has returned with his first new single of 2024, “hope u like me”, accompanied by a Sage Wolf-directed music video. Led by his viral standout single “1o” (3.5M+ Streams), the 19-year old artist from Hunstville, Alabama has risen to the forefront of the new wave in recent months since breaking into the top 100 of Apple Music’s ‘Top Albums’ chart with his latest 6-track EP, Evolution of Xur in November. Now with his first single of the year, “hope u like me”, Yhappojj is keeping his hot streak going into 2024 – continuing to feed the newfound demand for his idiosyncratic melody-driven sound and refreshing emotional candidness that has captured the imagination of the youth.

After following up his previous high water mark in “You Lookin Gud” (1.3M+ Streams) only a month later with “1o” and the entirety of his Evolution of Xur EP, Yhapojj has experienced a number of new highlights over the last few weeks. In December, his viral free show at Mercury Lounge in NYC was dramatically shut down due to massive overcrowding and resulted in an impromptu concert in LES Skatepark (documented by Our Generation Music alongside fellow rising stars xaviersobased and Nettspend). He also sat down with KidsTakeOver to discuss his recent rise, fascination with wolves, and the new wave “jerk” sound he’s helped pioneer. When kids 'take over' high-visibility roles in media, politics, business, sport and entertainment to shine a light on the most pressing challenges faced by their generation.

World Children's Day event at the United Nations.

WHY: Despite tremendous progress over the past decades, according to the latest data: 385 million children live in extreme poverty; 264 million children and youth are out of school; 5.6 million children under the age of five died last year from preventable causes. On November 20 – the anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child – children around the world will raise their voices in solidarity with the world's most disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

UNICEF will bring together high-profile supporters, influencers and special guests alongside children who represent some of the world's most vulnerable to speak out to the international community on issues that matter to them the most. This is a day for children, by children, all over the world to help save children's lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

It's a "Kids Take"Over."

It's going to be a fun day, with a serious message, when kids 'take over' high-visibility roles in media, politics, business, sport and entertainment to shine a light on the most pressing challenges faced by their generation.
