i love ur aus! your interpretations of the relationship dynamics in new ways that still feels true to the characters is really cool- take supernatural crazy stuff and making it fit in a more normal dynamic can't be easy.

do you have any opinions on how sukuna or choso get along with wasuke? (and do sukuna + choso both privately think of themselves as The Oldest Brother, or is one of them a middle brother?)

hey!!! thank you for sending this. i take it as a really big compliment ! i get very particular about that kind of thing so i'm glad it reads the way i want it to.

i'll answer this in the context of my aus. depending on the au there are minor differences though! and i hope you don't mind if i yap a little bit under the cut!

the most important part of this question is how wasuke's personality would mesh with them respectively so it's important to first consider what type of person wasuke is and how he would engage each of them. besides his appearances in the manga/anime we can deduce some of his personality through yuuji (how he was raised, his conduct, etc).

wasuke seems to be very even-tempered, family-focused so i think choso would get along the most with wasuke. choso is very gentle at heart and also family-oriented himself so wasuke would think highly of choso who is very outrightly passionate about it. wasuke himself doesn't seem to be overly affectionate physically or verbally but we know that he cared deeply for yuuji. choso being sort of the opposite way complements him well, at least in the context of caring for yuuji and i see him appreciating choso for making up for perhaps what he would consider his own limitations. wasuke would probably find it embarrassing but as a grandfather who loves his family he would be grateful for having choso in their lives.

sukuna and wasuke would clash more but not to the point where there is any real tension. i think they would bicker a lot, but only because they both seem like the stubborn type....probably share other personality traits too...idk..i feel it in my bones (and tbh in normal peoples au sukuna had a weird edgy phase where wasuke found him cringe af and he never let sukuna live it down 😭). in unckuna au and 12 years au they would both be very involved in rearing yuuji so they'd have long discussions about things after yuuji went to bed or something so this gives them a purpose to get along. not saying that sukuna wouldn't get along with him but to be completely honest sukuna is not the type of character to really care about much beyond himself. so they're like coworkers........but the work is yuuji. sukuna would respect wasuke out of principle (principle being he is an elder, he is his father/grandfather) and wasuke expects that from him, the end.

but knowing people like wasuke, neither of them are getting praise from him no matter how well they do or how much they impress him lol. he will tell them off immediately if they do anything wrong, and is not the type to say pretty words. if he wants to be nice to them he'll probably show it through action though; he'll go out of his way to buy their favourite fruit ("i got x today at the market, peel/cut them up for us"), drink tea and have snacks in the same room instead of sitting on the porch alone, things like that.

about the birth order...i think that's complicated. in normal peoples au i usually consider choso the oldest by a couple years (kaori's child from a past marriage or an ex). if it's the cousin choso au (where kenjaku is kaori's brother) he's around the same age as sukuna give or take. in sorceror au where he is a death painting choso is the oldest by far but sukuna won't acknowledge him as family for reasons (usually infantile and superficial) 😭😭😭.

in most aus sukuna kind of looks down on him for not looking like them and/or for not being human, and in most aus choso is not interested in sukuna beyond asking him to stop being mean to yuuji. almost writing off sukuna as yuuji's brother at all. almost... if it's any uncle au it's harder for him to ignore that i think...choso respects his elders...unfortunately...(he secretly thinks ill of sukuna in his head).

Any attempts to rile him up usually just get turned back on you somehow, so you've just given up trying to mess with him

He's usually never fazed by any rude jabs you make at him either

In a way, you both want to study each other under a microscope

Any genuine acts of kindness from you will actually shock Rui, though

I wouldn't have minded writing another piece for Simeon lol. I don't mind writing for the same characters multiple times. In fact, it's kind of a thing where I end up getting multiple requests for Solomon any time I do an event. However, I do enjoy writing for everybody and I have only had one other Asmo request so far! So I went ahead and did the prompt for him and it was a fun time because I definitely don't get to write for Asmo as much in general!

There is something endlessly captivating about the way Asmodeus can command a room. His presence is undeniable, as though it's only natural for all eyes to be on him. You see how he meshes so easily with every person he meets, being everything for everyone while always being intrinsically himself. He moves through your heart with a simple glance, the orange pink eyes lighting up at the sight of you. He responds to your presence the way everyone else responds to him - like the sun has finally risen here in the darkness of the Devildom.

It happens at a party - the type of place that you know Asmo feels most at home. He's surrounded by beautiful demons, his lilting voice and tinkling laugh rolling through the air toward you. You think he hasn't seen you yet, but you're content to watch him in his element. He shines so brightly, you're dazzled.

You linger at the edges of the crowd, keeping him in your sights, but moving around everyone. You like to watch him enchant everyone.

Inevitably, it surprises you when he walks through them all straight to you. The minute he's on the move, they part for him and watch as he takes your hand.

His smile is brilliant, his eyes shining.

"Come on, MC," he says, his voice low and quiet so that only you can hear him. "I have something for you."

He leads you out onto a balcony, away from the prying eyes of all the other party goers. They go back to their own conversations, the low hush of their words filtering outside from within, mingled with the distant sound of the party's music.

Asmo's arms are around you before you realize what's happening. You melt, leaning against him and taking him in. You feel his warmth and breathe in his scent - something light and floral with a hint of brightness to it.

"Why do you always hide in the back of parties, MC?" Asmo asks.

You open your eyes and pull back just a little to look at him. "I don't."

Asmo smiles at you indulgently. "Yes, you do. You think I don't notice? I'm always paying attention to you. You hide when you know perfectly well that all I want you to do is come straight to my side."

You squirm a little in his arms, but he soothes you by running his fingers down your cheek softly. "You're so beautiful," you say, not meeting his eyes. "And I'm just not. I don't want to dull your shine."

Asmo sighs a little, extracting himself from you enough to take something out of his bag. The moonlight catches on it, a glint of something filling your vision.

It's a necklace. The bright silver chain is thin and delicate. It holds a single round gem as a pendant and the color of it is unlike anything you've ever seen. It has a subtle pink and a gentle orange and it reminds you of Asmo's eyes.

He puts it around your neck, clasping it with ease.

"I wanted to give you something that would remind you of your own sparkle, MC," Asmo says as he puts his arms back around you, pulling you close to his body. "Your soul is so stunning, it makes my heart throb every time I see you. I know you don't see it yourself. But maybe if you wear this, you'll remember what I see when I look at you."

You're at a loss for words. This radiant demon in your arms is telling you that he sees you the way you see him - bright, shining, sparkling.

You don't need to say anything, though. Asmo can see it in your eyes. A soft giggle escapes him before he's covering you in kisses and it's like the sun has finally risen here in the darkness of the Devildom.

Victorious: One-Word Winners ~

@curiooftheheart — Maroon

Sometimes you just have to have that sweeping effect, don't you. It's a big uncommon spell that does a lot of work to remove some massive threats and/or save your own permanents, and you can just redraw things if need be. It's a serious thinker of a card that forces choices in a way that I'm thoroughly impressed with. Now, to delve into the flavorful aspect, I feel that there's a sense of abandonment that could be attributed to marooning that could've gone on a bunch of different types of cards. The choice to abandon being left up to the permanents' controller is pretty cool to me, and the drawing feels like a nod of affirmation: if you survive this, I'll match you card for card.

What a limited blowout at parity if this resolves, though. Maybe this card feels at first like a lot of text, but it's strong enough to be grokable and it's grokable enough to be a stellar example for this contest. Sometimes you need all that space to tell what the card needs to do. I still think that a little art direction could've been a personal touch, but that's not really necessary on a card that's explaining exactly what's happening through its rules text. When the rules are the story, and the story's part of a larger trope on an established world (and like, I assume Ixalan, but I'm flexible), then there's power in the card's own overall presentation that's being evoked here. Good job in knowing where to draw that line, and good job playing with big blue space. The octopus is a good touch. Keep that around.

Before I get into the flavorful aspect, I think that the mechanics here are pretty much just what wither wants to do. Wither's return is...lemme check real quick. Wow, a seven on the storm scale? Really? I guess that's fair because of R&D and -1/-1, but whatever. I think the world can make it happen just like how madness happened. A "bite" spell that can sink a creature down permanently is pretty much exactly what an uncommon slot would want, so no complaints there. It's not hard removal, but it's removal to me, as all bite spells want to be. If your opponent isn't attacking into a stalled board, too bad! This card forces your favor and forces interaction, and I love that little precision.

But that flavor text. Gadzooks. It's curt, it's emphatic, and it's final. "I'm going to Scowl" is a hell of a line to drop across the table, and there's that side to Lorwyn elves that really differentiates them from the rest of the elves in the multiverse—that utter disdain, that hierarchical horror. The sense that they can just twitch their brow and have something shrivel from the utter disdain is something I can clearly picture here without a shred of doubt. It's a clear marriage between the effect of the card and the world in which the card is presented, and what could be better than that? There were a few ideas that I thought were neat, but in the inbox, this was one of the first cards where I could clearly distinguish a favorite. Huh. I really hope Diedra appreciates that, because it's a little awkward to gush knowing that the elves would've expected this outcome...

@xenobladexfan — Eternalize

Straight up, we were a little surprised that this specific kind of effect hadn't been done. I guess it makes sense considering that there would've been no room for it in the sets leading up to the whole Eternals thing in Magic. All the same, though, it's all-around sensible, innit? The flavor is something we've sort of seen before, but not in the sense of an overdone trope—more like, we know that it's an event that's happened in the past and it's an expected situation resulting in a cool card. Having the rites of initiates turn into a book of sorts is neat as well, although I'm not sure how well it meshes with lore? Eh, having a book of rites makes sense. It's a fitting end to a scroll, actually, and it's got a good horrific feeling without being over-the-top. This is what it means to be eternalized from the voice of a writer.

And the effect is exactly what we'd expect! Pseudo-cloning your own ETB effects or making an Army even bigger in the long term is fun, but milling an opponent and stealing one of their value creatures is fun too. And getting something big off the board is relevant at five mana. I think in hindsight I was too enamored with this card to note that it should be a rare, because multiple removal-and-present effects at uncommon would be a little warping. I think in the end that would be my only criticism, because I want this effect to happen and I want to play with it. Literally the closest thing I could find from a cursory search is Nemesis Trap or Supplant Form, neither one of which does this exact effect. I could have sworn... But this card knows what it wants to be. It's a moment from the Bolas arc, it's a strong removal spell, and it's a limited-designed hella strong effect. Glory to the god-dude.

Well, I'm finally playing BG3 and I have thoughts. Keeping them below the cut since I don't want to invite Discourse lol

Its.... not great. Everyone told me it would be just up my alley and I'd love it and it's just so... meh. It's not awful, but it's not interesting. I'm 20 hours in (or thereabouts) and it just hasn't gripped me at all. My metric for loving a game is wanting to read, or writing fic for it. Nothing about this game compels me to do either.

People raved about the character creator and I don't know why. You get like 6 preset faces you can't change. You have 2 options of a male or female body type. Sure, they have lots of skin, eye, and hair colours, but that doesn't make up for the fact that all the Tav's just end up being cookie cutters. If I get to make my own character in a game, I should be able to MAKE the character. Sure, a lot of RPGs only let you do the face, but at least they let you actually make the face!

The DnD system doesn't vibe for me in a videogame. Let me be clear, I play DnD. In fact, I am a dungeon master for most games I'm involved in beyond oneshots. I like DnD. It's fun! I love it! So every time I'm playing BG3 all I'm thinking about is how much I'd rather be playing actual DnD. I'm also not a fan of turn based games, and when there's 5+ enemies on the battlemap it feels like every battle is a boring slog.

As well, I know why Tav is voiceless in cutscenes, but with the amount of voicelines the other characters seem to have, I can't help but feel it brings the game down. Especially when paired with the fact that Tav is expressionless. You'd think with a preset face it would actually move, but no. I laugh out loud during scenes where the camera cuts to Tav for a reaction shot and they're just stone faced. Its hard to actually feel like I'm roleplaying when the character doesn't feel alive.

Where the game does shine is the party outside of Tav. At least they all have strong personalities, if very archetypal. DnD is a game built on archetypes, so I let that pass. They comment on every little thing, they're good at dragging out the mysteries of their backstories, and they're the only things keeping me playing the game because the main plot isn't very interesting.

... that being said I was expecting more conflict between the party members, especially after seeing lots of people saying that Veilguard's companion conflicts were so miniscule in comparison and I... didn't feel like there was any more hostility than that betwen Lucanis and Davrin. Sure, Shadowheart had a knife to Lae'zel's throat, but like one dialogue from Tav and they made up. I'm not against having a party that meshes together even while holding different ideals, but it was sold to me as a "be careful who you have in your party! They might argue and fight about stuff" kind of game. Maybe there was more before all the patches? I wouldn't know.

I have more nitpicky negative thoughts (why tf is party banter subtitles in the year 2025 above the party member's head and not just across the bottom of the screen. I lead. I can't see it half the time so I keep missing it) but since they're more nitpicky I will refrain.

I will say the armours are pretty and the fact that we can dye them is super nice. I am obsessed with Scratch and the Owlbear, and also Withers. There's fun NPCs in the world and some hysterical dialogue choices. I just don't think this game lives up to the hype.

I'm really hoping that it improves once I'm out of act 1 and into act 2. Because otherwise this is probably gonna be a dnf from me.

yes! ships on this blog cannot be pre-established — i tend to lose interest fast if they don't build up naturally, either through lots of ooc plotting or through writing. on top of that, seph is ... piiiiicky. she has very specific Types. generally, ships with very gentle, soft, mentally well-adjusted characters are possible, but transient — seph falls out of love after a point, but remains staunchly protective of them.

the long and short of the matter is she's a freak, and you kind of have to match that to be compatible as a long-term partner. but even then they don't always line up perfectly! idk. seph's weird. simultaneously very easy to ship with and very hard to ship with.

@chaoslulled oh boy(s). toji — brutally in love. they saw and embraced each other's monster, refused to shy away, and now they somehow revolve in this strange orbit of violent and incredibly soft with each other. i think he's the first of the current ship lineup that seph has in-thread said the L-word to. this ship was so easy to jump right into, the chemistry was like lightning in a bottle. satoru — one of the most genuinely unexpected slowburn ships i've stumbled into. these two read each other for filth INSTANTLY as lonely motherfuckers who, in some way or another, had loved and lost. they haven't even gotten to the oh-shit moment in the slowburn yet but i'm lookin forward to it yakuza sukuna — THE PAIN. THE SUFFERING. AUHHHGHGGGG HOL YOU'RE FUCKING KILLING MEEEE. these two are mirrors in the worst possible way. they've got their throats stuck under their boss' boot heels; they've been disfigured, they've had their siblings used as leverage, they've been made into muzzled dogs. despite hating each other at the start, they can't not recognize that, and it's led to this fierce protectiveness that isssss whoops evolving into feelings. i'm sure nothing will go wrong

Pick one? Oh but that is so difficult, because what I enjoy is the way you analyse character's to the finest degrees because it brings a whole new layer to interaction. You've got that depth of curiosity that ends up with you putting every character you write under the microscope and identify small nuances about them and detail the importance of them to the fundamental foundations of their character. It's fantastic. If I had to talk about a special favourite, I think I would be stuck between Kafka and Ruan Mei (much like Welt) because I love what you've done with both. With Ruan Mei its how you've established love as such a central theme to her character, understated, calm but ultimately love. And with Kafka, dear Kafka, I could not specify. I just adore how thoroughly you match my Elio, how she fits so well. How she's a lingering presence impossible to forget, I certainly suffer from this as much as the muses do.

Welt is a very greedy man, we've already established this (I jest, I jest, we all know that the real greedy one here is Aalto), though also with—— exquisite taste, if I may say so myself.

I actually still can't get over your phrasing of 'depth of curiosity', it resonates with me as much now as it did when I first read it. That, and your line of 'the importance of them to the fundamental foundations of their characters' combined sum up my brain when it comes to my muses. Because on some level it kind of sews together two big things, which is the reason, and the passion. It's not asking 'What is this?' but instead going: 'Who is this, because of this?' It's not just taking what you hear at face value, but hearing how it's said, but most importantly: why it's said. That's why I can't uproot Ruan Mei from love, and longing (and the showcase of what 'longing' can look like in an entirely different kind of person), and why I can't pull Kafka away from something... akin to a 'douleur exquise' (I can't think of a better term), this yearning that feels almost sacred because it affirms just how deeply one can feel, how deeply she can feel. I love them both wholeheartedly, they're some of the most incredible muses that I think I've ever had the honor of writing, and I'm even more humbled to be writing them alongside you. The one person who understands the type of curiosity that lives in my bones, because I think it lives in yours, too. Yes, I will absolutely compliment you in turn, Charlie, because you deserve it in more ways than one, and then another hundred times. And no, it's not just because you made me emotional reading your message to me, but because I truly think that this fandom has you at its center, firm, consistent, and so very passionate, that you inspire me (and surely many others) on the daily. But if they made even the tiniest change of decision at E, then N would've looked like this entirely different thing. And when I say 'this entirely different thing', I don't just mean that you tell me 'this random thing', I mean this specific other scenario that you can tell me the details of as enthusiastically, certainly and credibly as their actual canon. And it's because your curiosity led you to understand them at their core, you understand the 'why', and you care about said 'why' so firmly, or at least it seems like you do. Welt Yang? He's a perfect example. I'm still taken aback to this day by how thoroughly well you know him, while it's not like he's a muse you've written very actively and thoroughly for so long, you know? It's so impressive that it's almost intimidating (in the best of ways). That's my favorite part of you as a writer: the fact that when I read your portrayals, that you seem to write them with the same ease as you draw breath. I know that sounds like a cop-out, surely, but it isn't. You just, you actually have a mind that I'm envious of, you know; you make writing look even more fun than it already is, somehow. Here is little doodle as is my custom teehee; the list is their Love Language they display. I feel they're both very caring towards each other in their own ways, but this kinda just leads to both of them leaning heavily into acts of service as their top one. I feel Masaru is more nurturing in that mother duck fashion- I feel his mom was more influential in how he cares and what sends little alarm bells. He does do his best to try and ease Touma's work load... not that it always works. Masaru, like his mom, also tends to gift food and snack. He makes more things, but it took awhile until he admitted he was the one making Touma's snacks because he was just embarassed. (Did not help when Chika called him a housewife). Despite the rough or frank way Masaru speaks, he is very open and honest and comfortable expressing that he likes Touma, thinks highly of him, or thinks he does something well. You'd think he'd be more awkward but he learned from his mother that a real man is still capable of being honest about his feelings, because that's how his dad was. (Masaru is just shit at expressing when he feels bad in any way) He definitely enjoys sitting with Touma and hanging out with him, but he doesn't "need" it as much. He is also physically affectionate, but he's a bit more shy and reserved with the more cuddling acts. Touma's acts of service stems from his more clinical eye; noticing when he's unwell or injured, and checking on him after Digimon Fights or even when Masaru gets into fights with people. He will always patch his injuries, even as he scolds him. Touma also tries to help masaru with his harder work load, and help him study. It can be kinda hard, as Touma is a little too smart for Masaru to even get it. Touma leans into Physical touch quite a bit- the small stuff like holding hands or leaning against each other. It feels good and nice to have someone so warm and comforting beside him who wants him there. Touma is definitely the touchier of the two, but while Masaru can get a little flustered, still not used to it, he's also okay with the little stuff. Adding onto that, he also greatly appreciates just spending time with Masaru- he's definitely the type to really want to allocate and plan time with Masaru- which doesn't mesh well with Masaru's more laid back and casual attitude, but they're working on it! It helps they work together. Touma loves planning dates, but the compromise is he doesn't go too overboard. (Masaru hasn't forgotten the chaos that was Chika's birthday.) Touma is a little awkward with Words of Affirmation- both receiving and giving- and can sometimes put his own foot in his mouth. This being said, I think both of them are equally shy when it comes to more intimate tihngs. While I know some 14 year olds are perfectly fine with it, I feel like these two are just

Also, for their first date, I feel like they would be that duo who kept having interruptions and hijinks and it was stupid, but they ended up just at a little ramen stand and laughed and walked with each other. It was sweet, casual, and relaxing and took them into the late hours and ended with a sleepover where they didn't even make it to Masaru's room and just feel asleep as a miss in his living room. Also they had argued about it because Masaru made Touma rewrite his plans to tone it down because he said we are NOT doing that calm down!!! I think they are very casual boyfriends; easily the kind where many people don't know they're dating because their deeper affections are more private, and they just appear like two close guy friends to da rest of the world- even though they are fairly open abt it. (Touma does NOT want to tell his family tho and masaru respects that bc he wants to PUNCH his family and Touma also does not want that.) Reminder these are my personal headcanons; I would love more asks about them and to be able to discuss them further!!

It's like being trapped in a cage, and you do whatever it takes to find that sliver of freedom, even if it means bending the rules. Hisoka's just another soul caught in their web, same as us."

She chuckles dryly, "As for him and his horses, I've seen a few Knabstruppers around the circus, striking creatures. But it's the spirit that counts, not the breed. If Hisoka's found solace in those creatures, more power to him. We all find our peace in different ways."

Her gaze hardens with determination, "But when it comes down to it, in the D.R.B., it's not about your past. It's about the here and now. And we'll face whoever steps into the ring with us, no matter their story."

Well my session has ended with the first day so-

Red- Hm, intelligent jock. An interesting combination but warranted given his desired goal in life. I also like that his responses are fairly in character no matter what you choose. Sometimes with Persona protagonists, it can feel like they're forced to do contradictory things through their dialogue choices. I get that's because, as Wild Cards, they're meant to be able to mesh with multiple extreme and confliciting personalities but it's good to have that firmness of character.

Blue Balls- Asshole. Though, given what he said about Oak and my knowledge of Pokemon fan works...he has family issues with his grandpa, doesn't he?

Green-You know, aside from trying to stuff Red into a women's bathroom: she's kind of my type. A bit sassy and fun loving.

Ethan-...This man's role is gonna be the Richie to Red's Ash, isn't he?

Brendan- This man is a himbo, isn't he?

May-Super cute, though a bit annoyed at treating a guy's confession so...cheaply with a coin toss then getting annoyed at him telling the story.

Calem- Oh, so he's the 'socially conscious' type, isn't he? Which must make it a shock to see Serena not

Serena-...Uh...she's really pretty? Doesn't really mean much with this cast though

Hilbert-...Kind of weird having him be this disgruntled brooding guy who actually cares about people...when we got Silver around. Especially with his type focus. Still, jesus fuck he slammed those guards harder than an Amplifier-boosted STAB Boomburst.

Roxanne- Jesus lady, leave Brawly alone.

Brawly- Though man, you do not do yourself any favors.

Silver- Daw, he's so cute.

i feel inclined to add on to that ask abt movies (cuz i love watching movies).

Trunks to me speaks to me as a person who at one point expected the stuff he watches to change him a little. To help him think in a different perspective and challenge his preconceptions or. SOMETHING. hes the kind of guy to try to watch movies like 2001 space odyssey but by the end of it, just looks up the ending explained. he has to try to get anything out of it. I don't think he liked trainspotting. I don't think he knew what to make of The Shining. Trunks would almost certainly try to not get bored at the beginning of Pulp Fiction (the bulk of that movie is talking). But he'll still go see movies in theaters or watch whatever he's got laying around in the house though.

He thinks he's watching movies to gain something but tbh ? Trunks has been watching movies all his life, and it might just feel rly weird to suddenly. not to. If that makes grammatical sense. I think it just gets too quiet in his house. His mom's always working on something in her lab, vegeta's always in his training room, etc etc. so he puts em on to chill. Even if he doesn't really get them sometimes. Bulma seems like the type to do the same thing while she works, maybe he gets it from her.

That's probably why watching movies with goten is so interesting though. He can really get to the core of what it's trying to say, engage with the story and themes on a meaningful level and come up with his OWN well constructed analysis with an infectious enthusiasm reminiscent of the way Gohan talks about entomology.

And Goten, country bumpkin that he is, probably hasn't even seen more than MAX 30 movies in his life (ever) besides whatever soaps his mom leaves on. he's glad trunks invites him over to watch this stuff. At the end of analyzing whatever film they saw I think he'd be like Waow. That was so cool Trunks thank you for showing me this :-) can I borrow this dvd and never give it back and Trunks will be like yeah man thats cool I'm glad you liked it so much. I have a bunch more laying around it's whatever. (He found a lot of these movies in this "guest" room he's never really been inside of. It still has a lot of stuff from before he was born.)

I think that's so interesting.. that Trunks is familiar with the elements present in film but because it's familiar, it's harder to parse how or why these elements are meshed together to make the whole. he's just "watching" them without really thinking about anything and as such, doesn't gain anything.

But because Goten isn't accustomed to watching movies all the time, he can look with unclouded eyes. Not just watching, but observing and taking all of it in.

Its the difference between hearing and listening if that makes sense.

(One last tidbit which isn't super important. I mentioned earlier a guest room. It was yamcha's. When he moved out, he didn't really take a lot of things with him, choosing to leave some of his clothes and most of his movies behind. Bulma probably told him that he could just leave his stuff there in case he ever wanted to visit. The only movie he bothered to take with him was Caddyshack. For some reason. Why)

Reposting this segment for a TL;DR becasue I thought it was an elegant conclusion:

Trunks is familiar with the elements present in film but because it's familiar, it's harder to parse how or why these elements are meshed together to make the whole. he's just "watching" them without really thinking about anything and as such, doesn't gain anything. But because Goten isn't accustomed to watching movies all the time, he can look with unclouded eyes.

I mean really it all comes down to Trunks being a Modern CityBoy; he's used to background noise, he's used to mindless entertainment. Goten doesn't have things in his life that are meant to be taken for granted, though, so that just makes him overall more attentive and appreciative.

That's the greater discussion here ... A veiled call for action for us all to try to look with fresh eyes upon our own lives ....

Really, If Trunks isn't taking to the creative storytelling aspect of it, he should at least take a shining to the technological artistry. Maybe he doesn't care why or when, but he does know HOW they do what they do. That'd be swagg. But then he'd have to do research on something that isn't Minecraft related. Sighhhh

The Witch and the Beast - First PV Impressions

The day has come! The Witch and the Beast trailer popped out of nowhere while I was watching anime, and I had to pause to fully take in the trailer and the staff list. When I first saw Yokohama Animation Lab, I wasn't exactly happy. I have limited experience with their work, and in terms of anime studio years, I would say they're fairly new. They don't really have enough animes for me to fully grasp their style. I've only finished The Genius Prince from them and seen clips of 'The Great Cleric, which genuinely looks kind of awful, if I'm being honest. So, I was extremely anxious as soon as I saw Yokohama Animation Lab as the studio.

But the trailer footage was better than what I personally expected when I saw it. It still had some things that made me feel iffy, but there were also some genuinely good points.

I think the up-close shots look great. The facial structure and expressions match the manga extremely well, and you really feel like you're seeing the characters come to life. A lot of personality shines through in the close-up shots, from Guideau's intensity and craziness to Ashaf's enigmatic smile. The character design took me multiple rewatches to get used to, but I really did end up enjoying it a lot. I also enjoyed the music choice for the trailer.

The trailer was quite short, so we couldn't really judge the animation or talk about most things in depth, and so far I have no major complaints about it. However, I did want to talk about one thing.

I feel like some of the color choices in the trailer felt too faded or toned down, which betrays the complexity and detail of the scenes in the manga. The black and white frames in this shot feels out of place as they don't mesh well with the overall faded-out scene. I understand that they are aiming for a storybook aesthetic, but I believe they should have made these types of scenes denser in color, even vibrant, to create a contrast with the generally grim environment of all the scenes outside of them. The covers for the series serve as a good showcase of this, with vibrant scenes that are highly detailed and beautiful, complemented by dark shading.

On to the specific staff announced, for the character designs we have Hiroya Iijima, who I feel is mostly doing a good job. The faces of the characters seem to look very close to the art style of the manga. I do feel it's lacking a bit of flair that we've seen from his character designs in Afro Samurai, but I think it's still very good. I'm not extremely familiar with Takayuki Hamana and have never watched any anime he's directed, however from what I understand he tends to bring a group of animators with him, like Yuuta Kiso, who appears in a majority of his projects. I also hope he returns here, as he's a very talented animator. Now, back to Hamana. I've checked some of the openings he's done for Sorcerous Stabber Orphen in order to get a sense of his style, but none of them really impressed me all that much. I still can't get a good grasp on his style, and there's nothing indicating that he would do well in Witch and the Beast, in particular.

The most worrying part for me is likely the studio, Yokohama Animation Lab. As I've mentioned before, they haven't done much to show what they're fully capable of, and a lot of their animes currently out are rather subpar. However, this trailer does look better than a lot of the previous PVs I've seen. I am worried about how many animes they're currently working on, though.

The staff/studio worries me slightly; however, the PV, as short as it is, did look mostly positive, so I will be cautious but hopeful for this upcoming adaptation.

I had a glorious dream, in the world of Percy Jackson, and despite noone asking or caring, I feel the need to share it.

Meet Akira. Akira is Japanese-American demigod, son of Momos, and resident chaos magnet. Also, probably has broken a law or two in the past week.

His godly parent was surprisingly present thorough his childhood, because one: noone really cares what Momos does. Two: He goes between mortals quite often anyways. Three: They can't tell him what to do anyways. So he has a whole two parents, but Momos acts more like a cool drunkle, so he's not much help in behaving him. Alas it mostly falls on his mom.

His godly ability is basically Vicious mockery from D&D, and noone is even sure if it's an actual power, or he's just that good. His other skill, is an ability that allows him to skew with other people's powers, tho he can't exactly control it.

The second floozey is Lucretius, alias Luca, alias Lucy if you are feeling bold, or if you are a certain aforementioned child of Momos. "Son of Juno", tho technically he is neither a demigod, nor her actual child. He was a statue (not sure if he was turned into one by Zeus in ancient times, or was just one originally) that got given life by the fertility goddess with powers similar to what I think her demigod children can have.

Technically speaking he is a monster, with grey blood, and immune to regular weapons, but since Juno claimed him, noone dares defy her, even if they don't really like her. He has a peacock simbol over his SPQR tattoo, and three lines. He acts similarly to satyrs, and his job is to get Roman demigods safely to Camp Jupiter. But for gods' sake, this kid is testing his patience.

He has the ability to bond things (like the bond of marriage, yknow). For example, he can slow down an enemy by binding them to something heavy, or even for them to stay in a certain radius, as well as binding people together (you can imagine how well that meshes with Akira's powers). He can commit to an action, which makes him immune to most forms of enchantment, and charm speak, and can stare witheringly (how much of it is Juno's influence is unclear). As the Sky Goddess' "descendant", he should probably be able to somewhat control weather if Jupiter wasn't a petty bitch. Alas, he would rather not try, he's already so done with dear old mom.

Basically the entire dream was mission "Get Akira to Camp Jupiter without getting myself, or him killed", which proves to be quite a challenge, since while his blood makes monsters drawn to him, his stellar personality attracts all other types of troubles. Through their travels, they encounter Baba Yaga, who moved to America for some good for saken reason, a kid with a long nose, and his head on backwards, who claimed to be born form a white horse, and was looking for someone to turn his head around, a golden cat, with a key in her neck, but with sticky fur... Also, that was a selkie that wanted to snatch them into the ocean, and the solution was throwing molotov at it. From the less magical beings, they got into conflict with a local gang, security officers, and the government (kind of). Luca misses the days his biggest worry was which pigeon shits on him next.

By the end they got into New Rome, looking like actual shit, Akira gets immediately claimedby his father Momos, and Luca is like "Of course". And then I woke up.
