Next up in Kyoto was the Imperial Palace. This will be part A...since there are a ton of photos for the palace Which was only a few blocks away from Hotel Okura Kyoto @hotelokurakyoto . So quite easy to get to and convenient. We ended up walking around for a while and almost missed the main entrance. In which we had to walk back and then enter the correct way. Which I'm glad we did because this was a really impressive thing to see. The history alone makes it worth seeing. But also the beautiful architecture and the gardens that surround the palace are astonishing. Simply beauty and power mixed together for the leadership of Japan throughout history. Also the three rooms with the tigers and cranes and floral patterns were the different levels of guests that were allowed to stay in each of those rooms. Next stop on our first trip to Japan was Kyoto. We took the Shinkansen 🚅 to Kyoto from Shizuoka, the kinda failed stop...lol We stayed at Hotel Okura in Kyoto @hotelokurakyoto . Which was an extremely nice hotel and great location in general. Definitely worth the stay if you're going to Kyoto. The hotel happened to be right across the street from the Kyoto Shinkyogoku Shopping Street @shinkShinkyogok. So we started checking it out and found many shrines and temples that had been moved to that location. Especially the Nishiki-Tenmangu Shrine. Where I bought some of the charms shown in the photos. For family members and friends when I got home. This was only the first stop and first day of our time there. And I have many photos of the Imperial Palace and temples and shrines we visited throughout Kyoto. Oh, one last thing about Tokyo Tower... They have a lot to check out there other than just the tower. There's a whole Whitney Houston area with her music playing. This whole red gaming zone with VR games and many other types of activities and a few exhibits as well. This is from the Junji Ito Collection they had on display there. And I know my friend and podcast co-host @jrjulioaviles is a big fan of this collection. So I had to grab some photos and send them to him while I was there. I still haven't watched it myself but he tells me I should check it out. Especially if I like horror and suspense. Like I said there are many things to check out at the Tokyo Tower so it is definitely worth a visit. This finishes Tokyo for the first part of my trip. After the museum and Diver City was visited. Our next stop in Tokyo was Akihabra. We were staying in Chiyoda City at a pretty nice hotel called Hotel Niwa. Only a couple stops away from Akihabara. So this was our first stop there and we did a ton of walking and checked out Akihabara Radio Kaikan. We kind of killed ourselves that day and had the rest a little bit from all the walking we did. But it was really awesome seeing all the different places and shops. Didn't realize though we miss so much. So I went back the day of my birthday and bought a few things plus found some Gundam arcade games. I will get more into that later. So this is just from the first time we hit Akihabra and right before my birthday. Next photos will be of my birthday and what we did. Side note, we did check out the TAMASHII NATIONS TOKYO store. That is where the Gundam and Macross model photos come from. The displays were amazing and I did want to buy a couple of them. But I prefer building gunpla's. But they did look phenomenal especially the rotating display of the Macross unit switch into veritech and suit form. Kinda Geeky podcast is back... Been about 5 months since the last episode. But with so many life events going on and my car being in the shop for over a month. Not much could have been done about that. Finally getting back to a recording schedule with my podcast co-host Julio. Who also had some major life events as well too. However we got to sit down and talk about some of the conventions we've gone to since August. Also a lot of the hit movies that we've seen and some of our favorite video games so far this year. Built a Haropla last week. Only took about an hour. Then found another one with Cat Ears that I had to buy. Going to build it soon . Hey all, a new episode of Kinda Geeky is finally here. This interview episode is a little special to me. Back at Wondercon 2018, I went to meet up with @joaniebrosas at the booth she said she was going to be at; so I could say hi. Unbeknownst to me (because I don’t always check feeds; I fail) she was at a booth promoting a pilot she was working on. After chatting for a little while, she introduced me to Carl King (carlkingdom.com) , the man behind the animated pilot title “The Oracle of Outer Space”. After talking to him for a little while, I asked if he would like to be on the podcast and here it is. I got a chance to sit down with him after work one day and discuss the pilot and some other geeky topics. It was a wonderful conversation and very informative on his process and his body of work (projects). Also, to mention, since the next big convention in LA comic related is Los Angeles Comic Con. There will be a live screening and panel for The Oracle of Outer Space at LA Comic Con. This features some talented people for the cosplay community such as @vamp and @joaniebrosas and many other great talents. Here are the first of the Day 2 selfies from Long Beach Comic Con. I have more than a few of them and in different formats, so there may be two or more posts of Sunday Selfies from LBCC. This first group of people are near and dear to me. Not just con friends but people I hang out with outside of conventions too. Between meet-ups, geeky events, movies or just hanging out. These magnificent people are there when I need them. Great to see them in and out of their impressive cosplay too. One of the many reason I began cosplay is to grow my friend group and have more people to hang out with; and I have to say it has worked out nicely.
