my mind somehow translated "roleswap tobi acts like a child that has to be pseudo-parented by Sasuke, complete with tantrums" into "serious roleswap Tobi talks like a kindergarten teacher when forced to sensei team 7". Idk how accurate that is but i can't wait to see more of the roleswap world lol.
Scribbles on hand. Tobi's Tobi-isms being his own version of being a kindergarten teacher is extremely good.
When writing, I'm incorporating a marked difference between 'Tobi pre/post the Uchiha massacre' and 'Tobi pre/post becoming Team 7 sensei'. I think both events (responsibility over Sasuke, then Naruto, then Sakura) forced Tobi to mature a bit. I think they definitely forced Obito to mature.
He's a lazy person (or burned out gifted kid) who fully intended on spending the rest of his life blowing his inheritance and wasting his time until the massacre happened. Maybe, more specifically, one or two years before the massacre happened. Like Kakashi who fully intended on wasting his life in ANBU and who was genuinely out of shape as a ninja before the Wave Arc, Obito wanted to keep his head down and never resume life as a ninja again before he was forced to put himself back on active duty as somebody who could actually fight. I think at points in his life Sasuke has semi-pseudo-parented hm, but once Obito took genuine responsibility for him that had to stop. Do the others know it stopped, only perhaps.
That to say: Tobi moving from 'five year old' to 'adult who acts like a five year old to make the five year olds pay attention' is GOLD to me. Are Sakura and Sasuke convinced they're the kindergarten teachers, undoubtedly.

you know what? treehouse publishing au thoughts
the comic
in this variant of the roleswap au, george stays the writer while melvin is the artist, similar to that one season 3 tetocu episode. the “publishing” part was definitely melvin’s influence to make it much more official sounding.
the cu comics shift genres slightly. on top of it having a bit more sci-fi, i think it’d be a bit more… dense/packed. TP au has longer plots that carry through multiple issues.
george and melvin
the both of them meet at kindergarten and they are initially rivals. their stronger personalities clash against each other and neither boy has been challenged by anything in the school until now. kipper was the linchpin that solidified their friendship as they combined wits to dethrone him and his group of bullies.
in present day, i think they have some friendly competition going on; their prank battles are legendary in the school. still, they also can come together to make some cool works– prank, comic, or otherwise.
george stays close to his canon counterpart. he has more oppurtunities to sound smart, weaving highbrow and lowbrow together into something a good chunk of students won’t get, but melvin would find amusing.
melvin has a similar “take the impossible as a challenge” aspect lc!melvin has, but with the added aspect that his sense of morality is partially shaped by george’s influence. he may take things too far and george has to be the reluctant force that holds him back.
harold
the tattletalr of the au. he’s uh. not doing well here!
the divorce was a lot messier than in canon, causing him to be pulled out of school for a time. as a result of this turbulent time, his emotional state got worse and jerome horwitz is not known for its mercy, so he’s ultimately held back.
while in this state, a part of him wanted a positive paternal role model whether he’d admit it or not. the specifics of how that became krupp of all people eludes me. on top of that, despite the fact that he was probably the one who signed off on him being held back a grade, on some level harold wants the level of control and stability krupp has over his own life.
(basically: melvin tattles for academic reasons, lc!au george tattles because he’s bored, and tp!harold tattles because he wants emotional approval)

Man, I’m never going to write it properly because I don’t have the patience or time, but one day I’m going to talk about my Crazier Things roleswap au.
Where—
Joyce kicked Lonnie out much earlier, and, instead of getting work at Melvald’s, decides to angle for a better paying job at the police station. Nobody believes she can handle being an officer because she’s Joyce Byers and she’s tiny and lbr a woman, but through her ferocious tenacity when the safety of her boys is on the line plus a pathetically slim pool of applicants (and the fact that I am the god if this au and I want her and Hop to swap roles because I’m swapping all the mains), eventually she’s brought on in a trial capacity. She ends up sticking around when her skills as a detective become apparent (yes, she still faces sexism in the workplace on the daily, but she is legitimately good at her job).
Meanwhile, Sara died when she was 2 or 3, so Hop’s divorce happened earlier. El wasn’t an experiment in this au (though she does have latent powers), but through some situation, Hopper ended up with El being shoved in his direction when she was a toddler. He wasn’t really in a fit place to care for her, but (for whatever reason that I have not and will not figure out) he ends up adopting her anyway. He moves the two of them back to Hawkins, and picks up a job at Melvald’s, because it’s what’s available at the time. Because all the stress doesn’t actually help his substance abuse issues (and because I need a reason for other people to doubt his sanity/perception a la s1 Joyce being doubled), he still drinks too much, and he’s not in a very mentally healthy place at all, but he’s trying his best.
Mike Wheeler might only be a little kid, but there’s already something weird about him. Even as a baby, he gets chronic nosebleeds. The lights flicker when he’s upset. Sometimes, the tape suddenly skips to or repeats a song that he loves, despite nobody touching the tape deck. Ted doesn’t notice any of this as more than a strange coincidence. Karen does her best not to think about it, but she can’t help but worry about her son.
Mike and Will still meet on the swings when they’re 5, and within the day, they’re best friends. Within the week, they also meet El, and the three of them become best friends.
The summer after Kindergarten, Karen takes Mike to see a doctor because she’s worried that his chronic nosebleeds haven’t stopped. That’s how he ends up on Brenner’s radar. And just before the start of first grade, Mike Wheeler disappears without a trace.
Max moves to Hawkins that October, and she becomes El and Will’s friend pretty quickly (she also gets a front row seat to the slow progression of the two of them losing more and more hope that their third best friend— who Max never met but knows everything about because both talk about him constantly— is ever coming home).
Karen obviously fights to look for her son, and the searches go on for months, but they find nothing. With her money and connections, Karen actually gets the current police chief kicked out of the position, because she doesn’t believe he’s doing everything he can to find her son. That’s how Joyce takes on the role of Police Chief because she might be the best detective the station has, but she’s also a woman so the thought is that Karen will probably get HER fired as well which for totally unknown reasons is the most palatable option to a bunch of people with power over the station (//sighs in sexism). Joyce actually listens to Karen, though, and is as transparent as possible about the search, even though it’s very cold at this point, so despite being dissatisfied and upset, Karen at least believes Joyce is doing her best. And that’s how Joyce ends up police chief.
Mike’s disappearance puts added pressure on the Wheeler house, so Nancy ends up acting out more for attention which is how we get Nancy in Steve’s canon s1 role as the popular party girl (though she’s still Nancy— smart as a whip and ambitious as hell, it’s just hidden better). Meanwhile, Jonathan ends up in her canon nerd role (he’s studying hard for a full ride to NYU!) with Barb as his best friend. And Steve… well, Billy showed up earlier with Max, so he got to work putting Steve down long before Steve’s rep was secure, and Steve is now something of a loner. He’s still a jock, but he does solo stuff like track instead of team sports. The upside is that this means he and Robin (who mayyyy or may not be the cool anti-establishment teen running this universe’s Hellfire Club, when the canon era starts) became friends earlier.
Steve and Jonathan know each other loosely, and are assigned to do a project together (Jonathan’s a nerd who’s taking a class above his grade level and Steve had no friends in the class so they got paired up by default), so Steve goes over to Jonathan’s house and sees Will, El, and Max huddled over their first dnd manual. Somehow (Steve doesn’t remember exactly how, but he’s pretty sure El and Will’s twin puppy dog eyes had something to do with it), a simple “oh, dnd, huh?” comment turns into thirteen year old Steve agreeing that the kids can use his place as a quiet place to play (his parents are never around anyway), and maybe he’ll get his cool friend who knows how to play to stop by and help out if they need it, and telling Joyce that it’s fine he wouldn’t mind babysitting because, really, he’s really bored a lot of the time in his big, empty house. And from then on, Steve’s place is this version of the Party’s Wheeler Basement.
Lucas shows up in fourth grade, and joins the Party. Obviously this changes his dynamic with Max— they get a slower burn in this one (and I’m still undecided whether it would ultimately end with El/Lucas/Max or Dustin/El), but he gets accepted really readily.
So… on November 6, 1983, the Party bikes home from Steve’s place after a session, and El vanishes (which is Will’s actual worst nightmare because now BOTH of his Kindergarten best friends have vanished without a trace). This leads, ultimately, to Will, Max, and Lucas going looking for El in the woods the next night. They don’t find her, but they do find a very bewildered boy with black, shaved hair and dark eyes, with the number 014 tattooed on his wrist.

Krupp bro roleswap au.
Krupp doesn't go to college right away. He decides to stay and work to save money and leave.
Jasper has kipper. Krupp makes the decision to send jasper to college so he can get a degree and a job since he's the one with a kid to raise and it'll help make things easier.
Krupp stays behind to raise Kipper for him. Jasper who has never had an idea on what he wants to do outside of escaping the farm asks Ben what he thinks he should go into.
Ben chews him out for not having an idea but offers up teaching since that was his idea and Jasper looks like he's better suited for working around kids.
He assures him there's a chance meaner will look out for him if they go to the same college/ school.
jasper apologizes to Ben for taking this from him. Ben tells him if he's sorry he'll work hard and make it worth it.
Jasper is a kindergarten teacher in this and later becomes principal. He has that tired air about him but he does his best to remain calm. Unlike Ben he doesn't get Red Hot Angry. His anger is more cold, precise, to the point.
Depending on how old kipper is during all this and when Jasper takes over, kipper is varying degrees of ' you better behave or this will hurt both of us'..he also doesn't have the my uncle is the principal you have to let me do whatever card to play.
Krupp went into business with Edith and they run a restaurant together. He's much happier this way.

Au introductions
Tumblr media
Note that those are my aus! I'll credit whoever artist or writer I've inspired from if it's the case! If some aus are similar to others, it's pure coincidence unless I say so... I didn't really explore all the aus on the internet.
Blue-Original
Black-popular to the point where you don't know who started it
Orange-Inspired
Red-Different interpretation(a section of different aus) also original
Now let's start!
Tumblr media
It's focused mainly (if not) only on Saioma... So bear with me
-Pretty Cure
-Good Mastermind post game
-Frozen
-the little mermaid and villan Shuichi
-Experiment and spy
-Murder in the orient express +Phanthom thief
-Persona 5
-Twisted wonderland
-Miraculous, assistant Shuichi
-Miraculous, next gen (Komahina as the guardians)
-musical balerina Kokichi
-cheaters
-HTTYD
-Accidentally Ghoul king
-Prankster Shuichi (can work too with Makoto, Cihiro or Hajime)
-MHA
-Demon Shuichi and exorcist Kokichi(Why not? It was inspired by an artist who made demon Kokichi and priest Shuichi... Sadly I lost their name but if you find them... Give them a lot of reblogs and likes... The need to be recognised!)
-Egiptean God
-superhero x Phanthom thief
-Among us
-maleficent
-saber tooth/tiger Shuichi (feat a few tiny penguin Kokichi because his cuteness is too powerful)
-Monster High
-Tokyo Ghoul
-Pirate
-Winx
-Bakugan
-Disney villans and heroes motive
-Harry Potter
-Gravity falls
-roleswap
-Detective x superhero (feat grappy shenanigans)
-lolirock
-Aladin with a little twist
-Haunted hotel
-kidnapped mutant
-cats
-Wizard x Demon king(set in an original universe)
-Grim reaper Kokichi pregame (+demon Shuichi ingame)
-Minions
-Vampire Shuichi x Bat Kokichi (Fluffy Kichi is my new religion)
Tumblr media
In miraculous I mainly like to have aus centred on character development and sanity since it looks like it lacks a lot in most episodes!
Then again... We are talking about a kids show here
-Kwami swap (inspired by all of the artists from tumbrl... You guys really make it so unique for each of you! @zoe-oneesama has the amazing scarlet lady au and I'm in love with it)
-Powers
-MHA
-Persona
-Dense Marinette
-Dreams
Tumblr media
This ones aren't really focused on one ship... They could be adapters simply to any kind of ship and game.
-Persona hybrid
-Monster
-Persona soulmates
-Real and cognitive fusion
Tumblr media
And here we are... At the hell hole of good looking boys who need therapy. The homosexuality is boiling with this one.
-no magic
-roleswap (I saw it in here from more artists... Keep it up because it's amazing)
-Ghost seeing
-Miraculous
-Deuce, the Fae prince (basically Sofia the first but with more chaos)
-Dolls
-Kindergarten
-Language barrier (from @twsty-lav they have one of (if not the) best aus I've ever saw... Crack, fluff, angst... You name it... Also... Pretty twst au and bodysnatcher Yuu are legendary)
-Memewars
-Lumi as the MC/Portal magic fem!MC
-overBlot monsters
-Persona 3/4/5(I give my babies GUNS!)
-MHA
-Emotion mark(You can smell the angst potential)
-Danganronpa (again... Angst all the way)
-Rubber duck cult (I regret nothing)
-Mirror Epel (Angst, fluff, but most importantly... Shenanigans)
-Motherly Vices
-Voltron
-Castle of illusion
-slugterra
-Venom and Deuce au
-Cut the rope au
-Mafia au
-lolirock au
-monster high au
-jumanji au
-Twiches au
-the horror aus
-God au
-Cut the rope au
-magical girls au
-Bakugan au
-Wild magic au
-Dolittle au
-gravity falls au
That's all, folks!
You can request for oneshots(for the twst fandom) or explanation of this aus.
For the Saiouma aus, on Wattpad at LowkeyClueless you can find my aus explained only for the entire Danganronpa section. For the twisted wonderland section only a few of them.

hmm... how about pirate, street racing, & roleswap for the short stories/miscellaneous category? (WIPs of your choice but also you know i'll never say no to hexagon)
Thanks Max!!! I had fun with these (BINGO!), but you may not.
A Hexagon in the Shape of a Heart - PIRATE
Eve first arrived wearing her usual clothes, but has changed by now into tiny silk pajamas covered by a faux-fur-trimmed dressing robe; the kind of thing that looks vaguely vintage but no self respecting woman ever would have worn before Instagram. Wilhelmina wonders what in the world she is trying to do looking like that. They are seventeen years old, and Mina has no delusions about what that means for nightwear. She is wearing a matching pink top and bottom with cute little white stripes around the borders. The boys, of course, are just wearing clothes; Liam in grey pants and a Star Wars shirt even though Mina knows for a fact that he has never seen Star Wars, Shaun in some geeky matching Jack Skellington pajama set, and Garrett (Garrett!) in just sweatpants. Mina has been leaning over to admire periodically; she knows she should take this seriously. It is not often that she has a chance to see Garrett shirtless.
Wolf Children is downloading silently on her laptop. Shaun recommended it, and it was on Mina and Liam’s to-watch list anyway—shared, like everything else—and Eve said she had no preference. Garrett scoffed, calling it “anime bullshit,” but Shaun glared him down and Mina said, hiding her disappointment just a little, that she thought he should give it a try. She had that feeling, like she always does, when Garrett says something mean—like she’s been strapped into a roller coaster and has only just realized she’s facing backwards. It doesn’t help that Mina often has to defend Garrett to Liam, saying that it’s not his real personality and she’s known him since kindergarten and sometimes guys their age are just like that so he’ll grow out of it. He grew into it, and he will grow out of it. Most recently this happened earlier today, when Mina called Liam over to give her best friendly advice on which of her pajamas to wear for optimum romantic cuteness, and Liam had, as usual, answered like a space alien. So Mina had to explain to him the principles of kindergarten and now high school crushes, again.
And now, inexplicably, Garrett is on the entire other side of the room, separated from Mina by both Liam and Shaun. Mina shifts on the floor, against the couch, looking left to right. She’s gotten stuck with Eve somehow, on her left side—not that she doesn’t like Eve, only, whose friend is she in the first place?—and of course she’s happy to sit next to Liam, but that makes Garrett just a flash of blue hair behind Shaun. Mina looks towards Eve, wondering why in the world she is sitting there, next to nobody but Mina, but Eve is busy furiously texting someone. After a moment, she flings her phone into the pillow next to her with a ferocity that Mina would not have assumed of her. Mina waits as Eve removes her skinny rimless glasses and wipes at her eyes. Surely this is not a problem that Mina is going to have to deal with.
But it’s Mina’s house, and it’s Mina’s Labor Day post-barbecue sleepover, and the guys are busy talking quietly about tabletop RPGs—mostly educating Liam, who interrupts to say things like “see, my parents will say that’s witchcraft” and “but isn’t it gambling if you use dice?”
“Liam,” Shaun says, “I could talk to you for hours,” and Mina turns away too quickly to hear Liam’s response. She sure hopes someone else could talk to Liam for hours. If they had a bigger friend group, they could coordinate their free blocks more effectively, so that everybody would have a study buddy no matter when they got study hall.
“Are you okay?” Mina whispers to Eve. Eve looks up with an expression that suggests Mina just bit her. “Um. Never mind.”
“Would you take my phone?” Eve asks, in her raspy voice. “Just put it somewhere. I don’t want to think about it.”
“Sure.” Mina tosses it back behind them, onto the couch. When Eve looks disappointed, she adds a spare blanket, and then her sherbert-colored Build-A-Bear-Workshop bear, Boo, on top. Eve gives her a half-hearted grin, flipping her dark hair out of the way to remove her necklaces.
“Who’s texting?” Mina asks, because frankly after being nice to Eve she is suspicious.
“My step-'father',” Eve says, making little hand quotes. “He will not shut up.”
“Oh.”
Mina turns back to the boys to find Garrett saying something to Shaun that makes him get up and storm out. Mina actually thinks he has left until she hears the bathroom door slam. Liam has put his head down on his knees.
“What did you say?” Mina asks, because even Garrett looks a bit discomfited.
Garrett flips his hair out of his eyes. “I told him to stop flirting with Liam, ‘cause he was.”
Mina’s jaw drops open. “Garrett! Just because someone is bisexual does not mean they are flirting all the time!”
“Did you see how he walked out?” Garrett retorts, leaning forward. “He absolutely was. You have got to tell him you’re straight, dude,” he says, turning to Liam. “Like, ‘sorry, not interested.’ If—”
“Just shut up,” Liam spits, getting up and running out. Seconds later, the other bathroom door slams.
Garret mouths wow at Mina.
“That was a jerk move, Garrett,” Eve says, from behind Mina. Mina whips around to look at her, but Eve is now busy examining Mina’s family’s DVD rack. Mina’s stomach turns, watching Eve flip through all of her family history, but if Eve has said something then she can say something, so what she says is, “Sometimes it is really hard to like you, Garrett.”
“You like me?” Garrett asks, raising his eyebrows. Mina scoffs, but not with much conviction. She can feel Eve’s eyes on her, like a lighthouse beam, and turns away from both of them. Wolf Children is finished downloading. Mina lets it seed another few seconds, then gets up to go find Liam.
“Will you get Shaun?” she asks whoever's in the room, and to her credit Eve answers by getting up. Eve’s phone buzzes under its layers of concealment, and Mina picks it up without looking to turn it off.

Sometimes it Happens - STREET RACING
“We’re doing this why?” Ava asks.
“Because,” Elle reiterates, “I want a recycled racer like in American Girl, and you need to impress Maria in shop class, and my dad would kill me if we did this in front of my house. Turn it on its side again?”
Ava does, and Elle squints at the result. There’s clearly something wrong with the wheel, but what it is Elle has no idea. Worse, it’s the wheel they attached. The handlebars, at least, look right, and they have some egg cartons left over. At least they painted the thing nicely—also something their parents would not be happy with, but not something Elle is considering right now. Also, they chose the stickers.
“Ava?”
“You need me to fix the wheel.”
“Soulmate!” Elle chirps. Ava bends down to examine it, and Elle goes back to pilfering chips from what was never really a shared bag. They rifle through the remaining Arizona Tea cans on the sidewalk and start a new one: Watermelon Punch. Elle feels like watermelon punch, on a day like today: bright, vibrant, and with just the littlest breeze. Clouds drift by overhead, as if posing for a postcard. Elle sips and watches the patterns as Ava does the hard work.
“You might like to know that I am almost done,” Ava says, and Elle laughs, leaning back on the chipping fence. Ava shakes her head, grinning, and checks every screw for tightness. The second she stands up, Elle jumps on the racer, and it doesn’t break! They lean on it; turn it; try one experimental pedal.
“It works!”
“Sure. For the next two blocks.” But Ava rolls up her sleeves, still smiling. “Ten second head start?”
“You got it,” Elle says, and they watch Ava take off down the street, dodging a dog-walker and a protruding flower bush. The clouds converge and part on the horizon, tumbling lazily home.

KAY - ROLESWAP
Atlas is surprised. In fact, he wasn’t supposed to get the door; he was just closest to it at the time. That is how he meets the Neighborly.
She is incredibly tall. She has long, dark hair and a soft silhouette hidden by a black coat and layers of black and red fabric beneath it. When she reaches her hand out to shake, she reveals the barest glint of a knife at her hip. She wears a thick onyx ring, cool against Atlas’s hand.
“Atlas,” he says.
“Kay Rainier.”
Her gaze on him is so measuring; somehow sardonic behind her cold brown eyes. She has the most violent cheekbones he has ever seen in his life. She steps around him, removing her gloves as she enters the house, and Leah emerges to talk shop.
“Leah,” Atlas says, sounding a little strangled. Leah looks at him, and in a moment her face goes from what’s up? to oh my God I forgot everyone in this house is gay to and YOU are single! to and she is exactly your type. “Yeah!” Atlas says. “Can I talk to you for a second?”
The Neighborly looks out of place in Leah’s living room, among the bright colors and cheerful little rugs. The couch has a rip on it, which Leah has covered with a chicken-patterned blanket. As Atlas walks with Leah into his room—not his room, actually, not while the Neighborly is here—he has the feeling the Neighborly can sense it.
“You did not tell me that the Neighborly was going to be a hot girl!” he stage-whispers at Leah with the door shut.
“It slipped my mind! I don’t know! I’m married, remember?”
“What, you forgot to have eyes?”
“Not everybody has your tastes, Atlas!”
“Right; forgot I am talking to the house butch aficionado,” Atlas hisses. He and Leah cross their arms and stare at each other, and then Leah cocks her head, and Atlas raises an eyebrow, and they both grin at each other. “Whatever. Do you want me to promise to behave?”
“You’re an adult!” Leah cries. “I’m not going to tell you how to act. Just use your judgment?”
“My what?” Atlas jokes.
“That voice in your head you never listen to.”
“But that’s you!”
Leah shoves him out the door. She looks like maybe she’s looking for an excuse. The Neighborly, for her part, is busy looking bored by every item in the living room. Atlas stands out of the way and tries to look appealing—in his ripped T-shirt, in homemade distressed jeans. In accidentally distressed jeans. The Neighborly looks at him through long, dark lashes, and steps over to lift his hand to her mouth.
“At your service,” she says, before exiting to talk with Leah.
Atlas feels faint.
***
In her bed, Kay wraps him in her arms. Her clothes always smell of smoke and spices, but her skin smells only like her—a light, soft scent like one that lingers in a kitchen after baking. Her hair smells utterly of soap.
Kay pulls away for a moment to look at him, dark eyes secretive, but warmer.
“What?” Atlas asks, drifting. The sheets are damp with sweat, but warm; comforting. He tucks his head into the crook of Kay’s neck. Kay’s requisite stack of books is strewn across the floor.
“You know,” she murmurs, “I have very good hearing.”
“What does that mean?” he mutters, and she shakes her head. Atlas takes one more deep breath and falls asleep in her arms.

I got invested in my AU... a young eliv thade becomes very attached to Gilly, an older girl who works at his local library
more details under the cut !
these details are based on me and my gf’s collaborative HCs and little backstory we have made for Thade (which you could read here ~!) the gist is, Thade was born on Roo Island and has notably neglectful parents. In this AU, Gilly just happens to be a local, having moved here after her parents passed away years prior.
this AU is not a ‘traditional’ age swap in that, their ages are not the flipped versions of what we imagine ‘canon’ Thade & Gilly to be. It’s more like.. Thade is kindergarten age(6) and Gilly is an older teen (17). it’s not exactly a roleswap either.. Gilly provides company and attention for young Thade, who does not have any close relationships with anyone, and is rejected by both his family & peers. he’s pretty much focused on his special interest only, before Gilly, and now is.. overly attached. Gilly tries her best to be responsible and navigate this odd friendship, as she finds him quite sweet. A thoughtful little lad.
there are of course.. issues... when there is a crush involved. but such things are expected from children, as much as you could expect them to have a crush on any teacher or what-have-you... It is no reason to retract Gilly’s time and attention away from this lonesome little boy. she does her best

So! We have KinderSwitch where the personality are swapped (great au, check them out) and RoleSwap (crédit to @kindsnob also check that one out, it’s amazing) but what about OppositeGarten. All the characters personalities are now the opposite!!
Example:
Ingame Teddy was kind, occasionally nervous, and overall friendly and wanting to prove himself worthy of the company.
OKG Teddy would be more dangerous or deadly. Basically his Theodore personality but more prone to being violence.
SO!! What do you guys from the kindergarten fandom think? I just thought it would be cool though it’s still mainly an idea.

((buckle up kids, i’m gonna break that other post down more extensively,,,,
so we all know how felix is in-game. he’s cold, uncaring, selfish, clearly doesn’t give a shit about what happens to ted. then again there’s me, a big softie who believes everyone is inherently good and projects that on all my portrayals. basically, we can safely say my portrayal of felix suppresses literally every emotion he has, and is intensely loyal to his dad but there was a period of time before all the favoritism and need to be completely obedient and dedicated to his dad and to the company, where felix did love ted (and throwing another headcanon into the mix, ‘teddy’ was absolutely an affectionate nickname before it all went to shit and became associated with belittlement,,, bc i love that headcanon,,).
but being the ‘favourite twin,’ along with seeing the way his father acts towards ted and to other people, felix is an impressionable child and mimics that abusive behaviour. he has clear disdain for the lower class and his dad puts down ted and ignores him, causing felix to do the same. the thing in the roleswap verse, is that his dad’s behaviour is directed at felix instead. and like i said regarding the other post, felix’s entire personality in the main verse is dependent on the way his dad interacts with the people around him, since that’s his father and he looks up to him for guidance on how to act.
but when that abuse is directed towards him instead, it’s just one part of the whole in ‘why is roleswap felix a nice person’ because he suffers through that, but he has ted to support him in place of his parents. that is the second part of it. main felix is fiercely loyal to his dad; he thinks he can do no wrong and that he’s always right in his decisions, which is reinforced by the huxleys’ decision to make felix the golden child. but when the roles are reversed, and felix is the scapegoat, he desperately tries to prove himself to his dad that he can be good enough, which embeds the thought in his mind that father is wrong about that one thing. who’s to say he can’t be wrong with anything else? even if rs!felix doesn’t want to admit as much on the surface level, his subconscious is well aware of the fact that his dad can be wrong. that he can be untrustworthy, and hurtful.
so without an authority figure to look up to as a model for how to act to gain his dad’s approval, who does he turn to instead? who else is a prominent family member who knows exactly how to win his dad’s favor? that’s right, ted. and it’s directly because his parents treat felix badly that ted has to step up and be there for felix, because he cares about him and knows no one else will help if he doesn’t. so he does exactly that. and because rs!felix is now looking at ted, the golden child who his parents adore, felix tries to mimic the way he acts instead of his father now. and ted is still inherently kind, compassionate, considerate, and sensitive, so constantly being with him and spending time with him, felix learns to be more in touch with his own emotions and the emotions of others. main verse felix didn’t have that, because all his time was spent with his father, who believes that emotions are weak and then he adopted that mentality too. it was the constant exposure to each thing that made those versions of felix grow so differently from each other. a bit of both nature and nurture :’)c
rs!felix grew incredibly different from canon felix because of the way he was treated growing up (parents believing he’s useless, ignoring him, but having ted around to stand up for him and console him, treating him with kindness and love). it’s clear he’s really different from his canon self, so i guess the next question here is about ted: why doesn’t rs!ted act like canon felix if he grew up to be the favourite twin and endured all those lessons from his dad like canon felix supposedly did?
i’ll answer that,,,,,, under the cut because this is getting really long lmao
so if felix is the incredibly obedient one towards his father, what does that make ted? that’s right, he’s the rebellious twin. “but that doesn’t make sense,” you might say, “he does everything felix asks of him, doesn’t he?”
the answer to that is yes... only when felix is watching. ted’s entire thing is that he goes behind felix’s back to defy his orders. hitman’s potty guard is literally about proving felix wrong, showing that ted does not back down even after felix insults him, calls him mediocre, tells him his plan will never work. we can assume that kind of behaviour from felix is constant and occurs frequently, so ted should be used to being insulted by felix for who knows how long. yet, in the ‘present day’ when kindergarten 2 takes place, he still is willing to prove felix wrong. he still hasn’t given up on showing his family he’s competent and capable. that gives off rebellious, defiant vibes to me. even if it’s in a little way. even if it’s in the smallest way he can allow himself to rebel, it’s still something.
in my roleswap au, of course ted keeps those traits. not to mention, in the game he clearly hasn’t adopted the posh manner of speaking; ted speaks like a regular kid, not a high class adult. he hasn’t adopted the snobbishness that felix has, that disdain for anyone who isn’t wealthy like his family. he knows his morals and is incredibly inclined towards not wanting to be mean, even if he does do whatever it takes to get his plan moving forward. all those things-- is why i have reason to believe ted’s personality definitely isn’t influenced by his father at all. sure, his need for approval comes from wanting his father and brother to love him, but that’s really all there is to it.
it’s influenced by the way felix treats him. in canon, he’s subservient, compliant, and apologetic. those traits are ones that i don’t consider to be some of his core personality traits, because those are learned behaviours. mostly from felix constantly berating him, insulting him, convincing him that he should be sorry for existing, so ted has learned not to make mistakes in his family’s presence. sometimes ted will ‘step out of line,’ butting into the conversation and trying to do things on his own terms. that independence is what’s actually part of him
so keeping that in mind, that is the reason why his dad’s lessons haven’t gotten to him like it got to canon felix. in the roleswap au, felix reveres ted as basically his savior. because ted stands up for felix in front of their father, despite the risk of getting in trouble for it (which is where the rebellious streak is channeled towards in this au), and felix is incredibly dependent on ted to receive love and comfort because felix has no other source for those necessities. felix is still incredibly envious, of course, but ted keeps him in check by being understanding and kind and vulnerable towards him (making felix learn to behave that way as well), which is spitting in the face of everything his father taught him about business, about being ruthless, coldly ambitious, and selfish.
in addition, his positive traits in this au are amplified by the positive reinforcement he receives from his parents, rather than them brushing off his abilities. and it’s because he is the golden child, who gets his parents’ love and attention and praise, that ted is more confident in himself in this au. so that confidence plus the natural need to rebel allows him to be brave enough to stand up for his brother when no one else won’t. it gives him the drive to keep going despite all the pressure stacked onto him, while supporting felix on top of that. but it’s his perseverance to hold onto his own beliefs that allows him to stay relatively the same, instead of resorting to the kind of person canon felix is.
basically the short answer to all that is, felix and ted are the same people underneath everything. it’s just the circumstances and the way they grew up and interact with each other change certain aspects about themselves, some more obvious than others between this au and in canon))
