Look. The plan was to use my day off and draw silly little propaganda things for the peepaw polls.
INSTEAD
I got one drawing out and then had to fix the kitchen sink because it was leaking. And then the garbage disposal started acting up. AND THEN the breaker flipped and I had to figure that out!!!
ITS BEEN 2 AND A HALF HOURS
@chiangyorange and @threestripeslider I thought your peepaws were supposed to be the fix-it boys?
I think you should vote for me instead. Plumbing AND electricity! I am UNSTOPPABLE.
All you're getting is this low-quality comic.

1928 castle like Tudor in Dearborn, Michigan is kinda quirky. 8bds, 4ba, $1.289M.
Tumblr media
It has a fairly large entrance foyer with a closet.
Tumblr media
This is very different, isn't it? This home has quite a few wall niches, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Large living room has an unusual fireplace. There's even a niche in the fireplace.
Tumblr media
Sunken sun room. The house has some very different features.
Tumblr media
This is odd. A toilet in the middle. I wonder if there's anything behind there, or is it just a powder room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen's nice. Even if the cabinets are dated, the design is castle-like and original to the home.
Tumblr media
Nice dinette for everyday and it has a deep niche in the wall.
Tumblr media
Very large sunny dining room. The crease in the carpet indicates that it needs to be stretched by a carpet installer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The home office has interesting shelving. Like the rounded ceiling.
Tumblr media
I wonder what color the walls were before they painted them. They probably weren't this stark. More than likely they were yellowish.
Tumblr media
Beautiful stairs and landing. I wonder what it cost to paint this whole house.
Tumblr media
The primary bedroom is big.
Tumblr media
The en-suite has a vintage tub and tile. It looks original, except for the bowl sinks, but the cabinet was painted.
Tumblr media
This bedroom was converted to a closet.
Tumblr media
This is another bedroom that happens to have a desk. Not a fan of the carpeting- it looks faded and is showing its age.
Tumblr media
Bathroom #2 has a long shower and mismatched plumbing fixtures.
Tumblr media
This bedroom is a good size.
Tumblr media
Interesting bath has a 70s sink.
Tumblr media
Large finished basement must be damp b/c they left the dehumidifier out. Looks like a wine rack in the wall.
Tumblr media
Very large bar.
Tumblr media
Nice enclosed porch.
Tumblr media
This is nice- a patio with a large brick outdoor kitchen.
Tumblr media
There's also a pool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nice large yard and the lot is .52 acre.

You know, I should probably subtitle this series "Plumbing the Depths of the Exchange So You Don't Have To." Because, yup, this is another world from the Exchange, though this one is recent, uploaded in April of 2022, found a little while ago when I was poking with a stick at the recent world uploads on the Exchange. This one has the generic CAW icon as its preview, but it said "Mid century" on the Exchange page, and its name implied desert, two things which are pretty much guaranteed to suck me in. (I promise the next one isn't a desert world. It's also tiny. LOL ) This world's file size was decently-large, so I figured it would be reasonably complete, so I gave it a shot.
And I'm glad I did! This is very much reminiscent of an affluent California desert town first built up in the 50s, with its densely-packed houses behind high privacy fences. I will say that I think the world could do with some more terrain painting, both in the world and on the lots, and that it could also do with some more deco, particularly rocks and some embellishment of the titular "springs." (But OTOH, I'm unnecessarily picky about all that.) Since it's a recent upload, it's possible the creator is still working on it and will update it. But if not...Well, scenery might not be this world's strength, but it has fabulous lots.
The world has 41 community lots and 80 residential ones. None of the lots are EA, and most of the residential lots are pre-built with maybe half-a-dozen empty. All of the lots are different, every single one of them. A handful of them are apartments. I'm pretty sure the world creator built all of the lots in the world because they're just too uniform in style to have been downloaded separately. This was a ton of work, so I can totally forgive the lack of scenery. I'd say about half of the residential lots are fully-furnished while the rest only have kitchens and baths. If nothing else, if you like the mid-century modern style, this is a good world to download even if you only pilfer lots from it to use elsewhere.
There's no info about this world's requirements, but you definitely need Lucky Palms for this. Without it, you're missing some rabbitholes, pretty much all of the plants, windmills, and also build items like clerestory windows and slanted columns. The world looks barren and just plain weird without Lucky Palms. As far as EPs, I noticed nothing from Supernatural, Island Paradise, or Into the Future, so it might not need those packs. It's possible items from SPs were used, but I more strongly suspect that the four mid-century sets from the Store were used because many of the furnished lots are missing some double beds, dining tables/chairs, toilets, sinks, and lighting. I could be wrong, but I'm betting the Store items were used for those things. It would make sense, after all. If you don't have those sets, you can download them in .package format here.
The world does have a pet store, so if you want it to function as such, you'll need the pet store register from the Store.
The title of this post is a link to the world's Exchange download, but if you don't want to deal with the Exchange or sims3packs, I have uploaded a .world file here, too. That file goes in your install files at GameData > Shared > NonPackaged > Worlds.
OK, that's enough up-front blather. More info and pics are behind the cut.
The world is 2048x2048, but its playable area is compact. Here is the entire playable area in Edit Town:
Tumblr media
Since the world is unpopulated, when I loaded up the world to take pics, I had NRaas Story Progression create 20 families, just to see how the world would run when decently populated. The world ran for a total of 10 simdays, some kids were born, people went to school/their jobs, blah blah, and I noticed no lag or weird issues. Granted, my machine is decent and the folder I'm using to take pics of these worlds has some defaults, the items from the Store worlds (because I wanted to see this world properly and I suspected it was missing Lucky Palms stuff) and NRaas mods only, so YMMV. I didn't get any notifications of any stuck sims, not even horses, so the routing appears to be good, which makes sense because it doesn't have any of the things that often cause routing issues. The world does have subway stations, but even if it didn't, it doesn't take sim-hours to get from one end to the other in a car or taxi or even on a bike because the playable area is so compact.
The world has all spawners except for the Island Paradise and Into the Future ones. It does have the fish spawners from the World Adventures worlds.
So long as you have Lucky Palms, the town has all rabbitholes except for the Into the Future ones, an equestrian center (none of the lots are big enough for horses, anyway), and the Supernatural ones. It does have the film studio. Some, but not all, of the rabbitholes are in basements to maintain the look of the town, and you can of course edit those lots and use rugs instead, if you don't like basement rabbitholes.
The world does not have any Showtime venues, and it only has one dance club. There aren't many empty lots and nowhere to add more, so if those things are important to you, this might not be a world for you. What it does have is cool lots, so the rest of this post is going to be about those. Not all of them, of course because I only get 30 pics in a post, but a sampling.
First some, but certainly not all, of the community lots:
Tumblr media
This is the science area. The house in the lower right corner is a residential lot for a small household of nerds, with all the science stuff from University Life plus a chemistry table and other Logic items in it. Then there's the science rabbithole, and the military one is in the basement under the low octagonal buildings in the upper left. There's also that multi-station science thing from University Life. It's in the bottom left corner.
Tumblr media
This is the fire station. So nice to not to see one of the EA ones. It doesn't come with a fire truck, though.
Tumblr media
This is the salon. It doesn't have tattooing, but in addition to the stylist makeover stations, it does have four or five deco hairdressing stations. So, this would be a good lot to use the hairdressing mod on.
This lot also shows the only issue that I noticed with the world. It has Al Simhara's distant terrain, but it acts weirdly, which you can see in the picture above. I'm not sure if this is just my game doing this or not. Frankly, if I were to play this world, I'd just delete the distant terrain. It isn't really needed, IMO.
Tumblr media
This is the arcade. It has bowling lanes and arcade machines.
Tumblr media
This is the town's one and only club, and it's an exclusive one, so there's a bouncer at the front door. My testing sim got in via a bribe. :)
Tumblr media
The vanilla-color building on the left is the pet store while the coral-color one is a shell with the spa rabbithole in its basement. If I was playing this world, I'd build an actual spa with the items from Sunlit Tides and a spa rabbithole rug, but this will do. The rainbow-colored building in the back is a sort of mall. It has little shops with WA registers in it (nectar, relics, general store, food) inside, and it has the grocery, bookstore, and theater rabbitholes in the basement.
Tumblr media
The graveyard. The building with the asymmetrical roof on the right side of the pic is part of this lot, too. It's small and empty, but it could be dressed up for small weddings.
And finally, pics of a handful of the 80 residential lots, in a cross-section of sizes. Of course, the problem with them being tightly packed in and behind fences is that it makes it harder to take pics, but this will give you an idea of the types of lots in the world.

Seven: Akari, who installed the plumbing in your house?
Akari: I did why?
Seven: I think you made a slight oversight while installing it.
Akari: What? no everything works fine.
[Seven stares at his daughter for moment then flushes the toilet causing the house lights flicker on and off.]
Seven:
Akari: Okay, maybe I fumbled the bag a little during the installation, but everything works fine.
[Seven then fills a cup of water in the bathroom and brings it up to the kitchen sink faucet; he turns the handle no water comes out but the water in the glass gets sucked up into the faucet.]
Seven: I don't even know how that's possible.
{And that's how Akari reluctantly let her dad fix things around her house.]

cottage
An excerpt from this chapter of 2003. The Cullens have just moved to Forks and Edward is exploring the woods behind the house.
I was surprised to find the remnants of an old trail not far from the river. It hadn't been used in a long time; for most of its length, the only sign was a winding track of evergreens that were significantly shorter than their neighbors. A rusted tin can was the only other evidence that a human had ever passed this way. Maybe this path led to an old deer stand or something like that.
I explored here and there, finally taking to the treetops so I could follow the "path" more easily. I was finally rewarded with the sight of a big rectangle so regular that it had to be manmade. It was partially obscured by the overgrowth and the rotted branches that had fallen on it in recent years, but it was definitely a building. I swung back down to the forest floor, surprised to see not a deer stand or a spartan hunting shack, but an adorable little stone cottage.
It was like stepping into a fairy tale. I had landed just far enough away to use the little path of flat stones that led the way home to the front door. The decaying, broken roof was an eyesore, but everything else was perfect... in a crumbling, half-reclaimed-by-nature sort of way. Wild, meandering honeysuckle had completely taken over one wall. Nearly every stone was outlined and softened with moss. The arched door wasn't in the best shape, but it was made of sturdy oak that had easily outlived the roof.
I walked a wide circle around the whole thing. A stone chimney crowned the southern corner, and there was a little door in the back that opened directly into what probably used to be a garden. Now, it was just a little outline of rotted miniature fencing, completely overrun by natural growth. Only a single climbing rose plant had survived to tell the story of the former inhabitants, clinging to the mossy stones as if to escape the encroaching wilderness.
I reached out and gently touched its petals. Stubborn rose, I thought with a smile. It was a good omen; Rosalie and Emmett were going to love it out here. It'd been a while since they'd really needed four walls of their own to knock down as they pleased, but it wasn't every day we found a house that came complete with a fairy tale cottage, either. I was almost jealous.
I carefully inspected the rest of the exterior before easing the door open. Esme would want to know every detail, though of course she would soon be out here to see it for herself. I stretched my gift back toward the main house to her mind abuzz with renovation plans. She might not be able to get to the cottage right away. I grimaced around the tiny living room. The beehive fireplace was in good enough condition, but the wallpaper was an affront to all that was good and holy. Hopefully the smell would get thrown out with it.
The kitchen was little more than a camper's stove and a sink, which was just as well. Two rickety chairs crowded up to a tiny breakfast table that had seen better days. I was far more interested in the old piano that took up the wall across from the fireplace. I didn't expect much, what with the exposure and the humidity it must have suffered over the years, but I still let out a disappointed sigh when the keys refused to be pushed, much less make any sound. I took a peek inside; the strings actually didn't look too bad. I already had the Steinway baby grand anyway, but it would be a shame to send it to a junkyard. Maybe I could find a local piano repair shop that enjoyed restoring hard luck cases.
Just like the main house, the cottage seemed bigger inside than out. I followed a little hallway—it was arched like the front door, as though I had wandered into a tiny castle—and found a generous bedroom matched against two smaller rooms. No signs of plumbing ever having been installed: that would give Esme a pleasant challenge.
The whole thing was perfect. Maybe if Rosalie and Emmett spent enough time out here, they would even agree to switch bedrooms with me. I didn't exactly need a full suite, but I wouldn't say no to my own shower and enough room for all my books to come out of their boxes. They were getting the better deal by far; this place was a jewel. And it felt right, somehow; it had been a shame to see the hunting cottage back at our old Hoquiam place fall into disrepair. Having this little find on our new property seemed to make up for it.
I headed back to the main house, wondering who had lived out at the cottage once upon a time, and why. I supposed it might be as old as the house, or even older; there could have been a whole line of occupants. The cottage had its own little story to tell. Perhaps it had been used as a mother-in-law unit once: a whimsical grandmother with plenty of cats and plenty of time to tend her roses. Then a little honeymoon retreat for a blushing couple who had set up house with a second-hand breakfast table, then a brooding pianist who needed solitude to work on his compositions.
And now it would house a pair of lovesick vampires who would hopefully leave it in one piece and pass it on to continue the story. The older we all got, the more distanced we felt from stories like these, no matter how picturesque the setting or how vivid an imprint our renovations left behind. But I supposed we were just stewards like the rest: here for a day, then nothing more than a fading memory.

Splinter's First Father's Day
(Sorry I'm late, I know it's past Father's Day but I have a new job now, and I have been working a lot, getting used to having a job so I am neglecting my stories a little.)
Anyway...
...
Splinter sighed as he bounced baby Donatello and Michelangelo in his arms as they cried while Leonardo and Raphael were crying in the pit. Splinter hoped turning on the TV he just installed would calm them, like it always does but today, for some reason, nothing seemed to calm his little ones.
It has been a couple months now since they found their new home and Splinter has been exhausted, more exhausted than he was while hiding and running from the Kraang. He is relieved now that he does not have to constantly move around, place to place and can finally settle somewhere but their new home...needs a lot of work before they could officially call it a home.
Splinter finally managed to get the toilet as well as the sink working. It took such a long time, for he was not very handy in the plumbing department. He had to read many books, that he found to learn how and even then, it took a while, many curses thrown on his part.
However, after weeks and weeks of work, he finally was able to get it working and was able to finally get clean running water running. It was rather refreshing to use his own bathroom for a change, instead of sneaking it those disgusting filthy public bathrooms. He shuddered a bit at the thought, remembering how he almost vomited the first time he stepped into one of those bathrooms but it was better than having to go on the ground. He may be a rat now but he was still a man, and he refused to act like an animal.
Now, he needed to tackle the kitchen, as well as to figure out how to get the electricity working. All he was able to use now, for a source of light was his candles but he hated using them, afraid that one of the turtles would accidentally knock one over and start a fire. Of course, he made sure to keep them far and as high away from them as possible but still, his sons could somehow destroy anything in their path.
As soon as he gets the kitchen and the electricity working, he will start on the four bedrooms he planned on making his sons' rooms but right now, Splinter saw no rush on that for they were still too small to sleep on their own and besides, it will take him a long time before he is able to find all the pieces he needs to put together four beds. He was able to find pieces to build a crib for them but honestly, they were so attached to him that they didn't even use it. They prefered cuddling up in his fur which honestly, Splinter did not mind.
However, he minded today when all his little turtles were surrounding him, crying non-stop and Splinter, for the life of him, could not figure out why. They ate, they slept, and none of their diapers needed changing, so...what was the issue?
"Shhh, little ones, please hush now," Splinter said softly as he went to collect Leonardo and Raphael in his arms as well when they were pulling on his kimono. He sighed. "What is the matter?"
None of them, of course, answered. He rolled his eyes as he went to sit in his rocking chair, rocking them all in his lab which always used to do the trick but now, it barely did anything. Splinter shook his head in frustration as he tried to think of what to do. He does not recall Miwa ever doing something like this or if she had...he was not around to see it.
Shen would know what to do. She was always so good with children, with Miwa but sadly, she is not here, all his little turtles had was him and right now, he felt powerless. He has been feeling powerless for a long time now, actually. It hurts sometimes, as Splinter wonders what kind of life he could provide for his new sons in the sewers. It hurts when he thinks how they will never go to school, meet other children their age, and how they may never...find love one day, have families of their own.
All Splinter could do, was be there for them and keep them alive. Protect them from all threats until his final breath but...was that enough to make them happy? The only thing that brought him peace on that, is that they will have each other, no brother would be left alone when he is gone but still...it hurts, knowing his sons will forever be outcasts, that their lives will always be in the shadows or underground in the sewers.
There was nothing he could do about it though. All he could do is protect them and teach them everything he knows so that they can protect themselves as well as each other. This is the life fate handed them and they just had to accept it, no matter how hard it may be.
"Waah!"
Splinter flinched, startled when his youngest son started screaming louder and he looked down to see Raphael smacking his head. "Raphael!" He scolded while grabbing his little hand into his own. "No. That is not nice. You do not hit your brothers."
Raphael just pouted before he started crying again and Splinter sighed heavily. "What could be making your boys act this way?" He asked himself, and that is when he noticed how Donatello seemed to be trying to bite his kimono. He rose a brow at him as he tried to gently pull it off but he genius son did not take a liking to that, and bit his finger.
"Donatello!" Splinter gasped, startled, surprised that his son's biting actually harmed him since his sons had no teeth yet....wait a minute. Splinter then grabbed Donatello's chin and gently forced opened his mouth, looking inside, he saw a tiny bump on his gums. He checked the other three as well and they all had little bumps on their gums. "Ah, of course, you four are teething."
Glad that he finally knew the source of the problem, Splinter picked up the still crying babies and went in to grab their chew toys that he knew would come in handy someday. He set them down on the ground and gave each one their own toy to chew on. Immediately, they went at work and finally began to settle down a bit, they were still fussy from the pain but at least now, they were no longer crying.
Splinter smiled at them, feeling relieved before he took a seat next to them, watching fondly as they played. His little Mikey was giggling and rolling around while still chewing on the toy. Raph was growling while chewing his, seeming a bit frustrated about the pain. Leo was just chewing his while watching the TV and Donnie was next to him.
When Mikey rolled to Splinter knees, giving him a big smile through his toy, the loving father grinned down at him and gave him a little tickle, causing him to kick his little legs and laugh. Oh, how he has been missing that sound all day. Raph, feeling a bit jealous, at the attention his father was giving his younger brother, crawled over and tabbed his father's knee.
Splinter smiled at him and tickled his chin, causing him to flinch back, letting out that little laugh of his. "Aw, you want to be tickled too, Raphael?" Raphael laughed then pushed his father's hands away before getting up and jumping on his back. "Oh no! I am being attacked!" Raph and Mikey both laughed at their father's mocking and he playfully fell over on his stomach as Raph continued to growl and pull at his ears. "Help me, Michelangelo!"
Mikey giggled but instead of helping him, he jumped on his father's back as well, helping his brother. "Hey! You are supposed to help me!" Mikey just shook his head at him and crawled over to his ribs, trying to tickle him through his thick kimono. Splinter growled playfully as he reached over and grabbed Mikey, trapping him under him. "I thought you were papa's boy."
Mikey just stuck his tongue out at him and Splinter made him pay by ticking his sides viciously. "Oh, you cheeky little turtle! I should teach you some manners!" Seeing his brother in trouble, Raph jumped off and tried to pull his brother out of Splinter's grip, but that just resulted in him getting caught as well. Just then, Splinter was suddenly tackled by Leo and Donnie, causing him to let go of Raph and Mikey, giving them time to escape.
"Oh, now you four have done it," Their father, making the four turtles turn to him as he rose up, "You have awoken the beast!" He growled before chasing after them, making them all squeal as they ran for their lives as best they could on their little, clumsy and wobbly legs.
Splinter chased them around the pit a few times before he finally cut them off and grabbed them. "GOT'CHA!" The turtles all laughed as Splinter hoisted them up and looked at the clock. "I believe it is nap time for you now, little ones."
Right on cue, Raph started to yawn and rub at his eyes, making Splinter chuckle as he went to put them down in their crib. He put their toys in there with them, just in case they would need them again which he is sure they will. Splinter stood over them, stroking their heads until their eyes fluttered shut.
He smiled down at them then frowned as more worries clouded his mind. They are so small and innocent now but Splinter feared it will not last long. That once they are children, able to understand a lot more than they do now, that they will begin to want to know the world above them.
It wasn't fair but again, this was their life. He knew that they would probably want to explore the surface but Splinter can not allow that until they are much older, not even for a little visit. He knows how curious and trouble making children could be. When he was a child, he used to get in all kinds of trouble and he had to assure that the kind of trouble his sons get into stays in the sewers.
He will have to tell them once they can understand. He did not want to but he knew that he would and that he must. He had to tell them the truth of their situation, despite how young they may be, he had to get them to understand and teach them how to avoid trouble with humans. He will strike pure terror into them if he had to, if it meant they would never venture up there where they could be seen and harmed.
Children should be ignorant to such things but if they were to survive, his sons couldn't be. Raising them alone in the sewers was not going to be easy, Splinter knew this the moment they first got mutated, that their lives would forever be changed. At first, he thought it was a complete tragedy but his mutation gave him a chance he never thought he would have again, and that was to be a good father.
Before the mutation, he was lonely, thinking and craving for death to come for him but his sons gave him purpose again, happiness, a reason to live. Of course, they will never be able to replace his precious Miwa and he will always have that hole inside of his heart where his daughter should be but with his sons, he can begin to heal, enjoy life again, no matter how hard it may be.
So sure, his life was not going to be easy but then again, nothing in his life ever was and that is what made it worth wild. He would not change what happened to him for anything. He adored his sons and he made a vow to protect them, to not fail them like he had his daughter and wife.
He just hoped it was enough...
Once his sons were deep in sleep, Splinter quietly left the room and went to the pit to watch television. He turned on the News and settled on the couch. "Let me be the first to say, Happy Father's Day to all of our hardworking and wonderful fathers out there watching."
Splinter blinked at the mention of the holiday that is detected to celebrate the dedication of fathers before smiling to himself. "Happy Father's Day indeed."
...
(Eh, I could've done better but hey, not all stories can be great. Hope you guys enjoyed!) :)

Anxiety incoming…
We have a girl staying at our house for the first two weeks we’re gonna be in Europe and I have a lot of anxiety over her judging our house. She’s friends with our neighbors, and is very religious (she’s a 1st grade teacher at a Christian school and knows our neighbors through church). She just seems very put together and proper, as our neighbors are. Our house itself is nice (our neighbors used to own it and they redid the whole thing and then built a new house next to ours). But our stuff is very….janky. I’ve wanted new furniture for a while but furniture is expensive and I’d always rather spend money on traveling and we’re also saving for another house in WV. We don’t really have people over much so any new stuff would purely be to scratch this itch for me. Our kitchen table has scratches and is a little wobbly. Our couch came with the house and is faux leather which is peeling off in the most comfortable part where the chaise is. We use regular pillows on the couch instead of throw pillows. Our bedding is functional but mismatched and one comforter is pilling. Also we’ve had a dishwasher sitting in our living room for months because Kevin hasn’t found someone to finish installing it (which I bug him about at least once a week!) like the warranty is going to expire before this thing ever gets installed and I really should just pay someone myself but I’ll never hear the end of how expensive it is if I do that. Kevin is one of those guys who “has a guy” for everything but said “guy” ripped out the cabinet where the dishwasher will go, installed the electric, but never came back to finish the job of running the plumbing from the sink and actually hooking it up. I’m also going to feel the need to deep clean all next week for her and make sure everything is as cleaned up as it can be before we leave. Kevin’s bedroom is a mess too.

Note
A garbage disposal unit (also known as a waste disposal unit, food waste disposer (FWD), in-sink macerator, garbage disposer, or garburator) is a device, usually electrically powered, installed under a kitchen sink between the sink's drain and the trap. The device shreds food waste into pieces small enough—generally less than 2 mm (0.079 in) in diameter—to pass through plumbing.
Garburator, bitch
