Snape, Malfoy Family, and Harry thoughts.
Snape is a hypocrite. (Still love him) He hates Harry because of his father who had abused and humiliated him when he was young but he loves Draco because and in spite of that. Yes James abused and bullied him at his most vulnerable but Lucius used and groomer him into a cult when he was vulnerable too. He gained his trust, affection, and loyalty when he had nothing and led him to a cult that would led Snape to more violence and hurt. (Which is what he always wanted to escape) but he has so much cognitive dissonance because even as Lucius hurt him and led him into a life of hurt and regret he was also kind. Even at their worst the Malfoys were still so nice. And that’s why even though as an adult he has resentment for Lucius small part of him will always be the poor, unloved, and abused halfblood with nothing that is so grateful and loving that Lucius still sees him as. That’s why in social settings and where he can he gives the Malfoy’s leniency because he already betrayed the “bad people” that treated him like one of their own for the “good people” that abused and used him.
Another thing is I imagine that the Malfoy’s have some cognitive dissonance when it comes the Snape too. They hold him in a very high regard. They opened doors for him and have defended when people underestimate him. They justify it because he “knows his place” or he has always been Lucius loyal companion, so not necessarily an equal. They also might justify it because half of his blood is pure. But they don’t realize or want to acknowledge that he is everything that they dislike and stand against. He is unmannered, uncultured, and poor when they first meet him. Yet from the moment Lucius sees him he takes him in. He is literally the physical manifestation of pure and unpure blood mixing, which is their worst nightmare. The end of a great pureblood family and line is Snape and yet he is the only one they trust and care for outside of their family of three.

Head canon: Snape hates sci-fi like he can’t stand Star Wars.

My favorite Evan Rosier and Snape head canon is that he figured out Snape was a spy. And told Snape and gave Snape an opportunity to come clean to Voldemort before he ratted him out because in his weird way he thought of Snape as a friend. And Snape told Albus he was caught he gave Albus details about Evan’s so that Alastor would corner Evan. And he held out hope that maybe Evan wouldn’t resist arrest and he wouldn’t be killed but it was just wishful thinking and he knew it. So he lived with the guilt that he killed a bad person that was his friend killed for the greater good and a good person’s life and it was for nothing since Lily died.

Marauders era unpopular opinions and thoughts
I think it’s weird that one of the things people hate Snape for is that he made friends with death eaters then make those same death eaters uwu sad gay boys who didn’t actually mean to hurt anyone. (Barry, Evan, etc.) like canonically they were his friends. Like you can’t hate Snape for associating with death eaters then make those same death eaters who did worse “good people” and friends with the marauders. (I mean sure have fun with fanon but then don’t harass Snape fans or people who have different fanon interpretations of the marauders)
also weird when people romanticize death eaters and their actions when it’s Barty, Evan, Regulus, but they draw the line at Bellatrix, Snape, Lucius, because these characters are actually bad but it’s just head canons. Like Snape as an incel and Lucius as an abuser. It’s weird to romanticize their action period.
I think the fandom replaces Peter with Regulus. I think it’s because Peter is unattractive and Regulus can only really be in the fandom with hot fan casts. But he is ten times more interesting than Regulus.
I think if any black brother was in love with James it would be Sirius.
The comphet versions of wolfstar are weird. I remember when Remus was the uwu shy boy and Sirius the manly alpha then people started calling it out as weird so then it switched and everyone pretended that was groundbreaking but it’s still weird they are both 30 year old men. (Not when they are men that happen to have long hair and like some feminine interests but when it’s super out of character so one is the woman and one is the man)
Snape being homophobic and transphobic is not cannon and out of character since he has been shown with black nail polish in official merch and has been one of the only male characters that have worn women’s clothing.
I hate angry womanizer and shy uwu boy remus that is a man.
I wish Lily got more fics where she is gender confused. Like she struggles with the idea of womanhood and motherhood (when that is all she seen as is the ideal figure for both of these in canon and fandom)
I want more Peter x James fics not gonna lie. The same goes for Sirius x James (specifically unrequited or one sided that shit goes hard)
I want more Lily and Petunia fics those sisters are so complicated I want a fics where I see their relationship break apart. And see more of Petunia’s resentment toward Harry for just existing.
Give Regulus the one trait we know he had which was prejudice.
Not marauders era but Ron is a wonderful character I hate seeing him made into a homophobe for drarry fics it’s giving snape in marauders fics 2.0 (I adore Ron)
An extra one the marauders disliking and mistrusting Albus is so out of character for all four of them. Even after Sirius was revealed innocent they still trusted the man. And fics where they hate him or distrust him immediately. It takes me out because it was the exact opposite in Cannon. I think it’s fine if we get to that point where they see that he’s not a perfect man but not when It’s immediate.

I think this also gives the Malfoys some more depth if they care goes a bit farther than their own best interests.
"the malfoys and snape only tolerated each other for political gain and he hated the family actually" : boring, no angst, cliche, makes snape's decision have no emotional stakes
"the malfoys and snape trusted each other despite everything largely bc they met very young, snape challenges their pre conceived notions on basically everything but they treat him like family regardless, meaning that snape betrayed the (bad) people who gave him a home for the ("good") people that mocked and abused him his whole life": insane, appealing, lucius being a reluctant big brother, snape being dracos godparent, emotional stakes through the roof, post war lucius grappling w the fact his bsf betrayed him, that he was the one to lead him to his death yet lucius still loves him bc he saw him as his little brother

I’m going to fix the Regulus vs Snape godfather for Draco debate.
Regulus was the original godfather for Draco chosen by Narcissa because that was her only real family member left. However, when he died, Lucius decided to assign Snape since they had no real family left just this close family friend. However because it was so sad for Narcissa that Regulus couldn’t fill in that role that she never called Snape Draco’s godfather. She would just acknowledge him as a family friend and Draco‘s favorite teacher.

This makes me sad
Sirius holding himself accountable after a long and painful realization that Harry is just like Snape and Snape too was just a child without a family who cared for him is my biggest headcannon I think.
It starts with Sirius teaching Harry how to look good for the girls and he comments How greasy and a mess his hair is, turns out he never was able to shower at his aunt and uncles so he didn’t develop a good habit of it. Severus tells him that all that matters now is that he is learning.
Harry doesn’t speak unless directly spoken to, Sirius asks him why, “I’m not used to attention so I tend to stay quiet, scared I’ll get in trouble still if I make too much noise.” Severus feels a sting in his chest. “You’ll get in trouble if you don’t talk here.” He says after the meeting is over.
Harry lashes out, Sirius can’t understand and asks him why, “If you were trapped in a home where you weren’t cared for, but then suddenly everyone made this assumption of you (being a hero), you’d lash out too” Severus tells Harry off, to not lash out at one’s who are there for him and care for him. That he should throw away the only family he has left that actually cares for him. He even makes him apologize to Sirius.
Sirius pokes fun at Harry for studying for school still when preparing for war, Harry tells him he wants to make sure he gets a good job so that people like Sirius won’t be wrongly accused. Severus tells him that killing the dark lord will be more than enough on a resume, but more would help.
Harry knows he’s similar to Snape, hated it at first, but accepted it and was happy about it. Because someone understood him for the first time truthfully about being a weapon and not a person in so many peoples eyes. Severus loathes it, fearful he will turn out like him. He’s happy to see he isn’t.
Sirius meets with Snape alone, doesn’t cry, he spent the night before crying all his tears out, and he apologizes and owns up to everything. He tells him that he doesn’t expect forgiveness, but wishes in the next life he would know better. Snape tells him in the next life they might be friends.
The next life didn’t come. Forever repeating the cycle.

Hc: If Severus and Charity had lived he would dedicate his life to making it up to her. Like his will to live has dependent on servitude and guilt for so long that his guilt about letting her get hurt would replace his guilt about letting Lily die. It would be something they would have to work on in their friendship along with forgiveness from Charity’s end.
