Fluffy Feburary [2024], Day 18 Prompt- Pain @fluffyfebruary
Pain was a familiar thing to Amali, it was as much apart of them as the blood that flowed beneath their skin. They didn't remember what it was like to live without it, and so- when they and Loraine had become... friends? Suddenly the weight was lighter.
All of a sudden Amali had someone to bear the burden with, someone that would take care of them. And in return Amali took care of her.
And ever so slowly, through the passage of time, they found that they were beginning to fall in love. Once more they had a purpose other then protecting the Princess, and now, that is not to say that they did not take pride in this duty- for they did. But having someone they could lean on and who could understand their struggles...
Well, no one could hardly blame Amali could they? After all, anyone could see the bond between the two. As Loraine kept Amali fed and alive, and in return Amali gathered materials for her.
There was something so very soft in their relationship. Amali was a kind but hard soul who did what they thought was best to protect her sister the Princess. And Loraine was someone who despite how much she grumbled and complained about it, took care of people and kept them safe.
Both of them were protectors by nature, but both of them were desperate for something that no one else could understand. They were desperate for love.
And somehow, in their crazy world the two had fallen in love with each other. Neither quite brave enough to act on it till the new year came, and Amali was drunk. Inhabitations and nervousness thrown to the side as they pulled Loraine close to them.
As they tilted her head up, a smile on their face as they gazed down at the woman they loved. Even as they were surprised when Loraine pulled them down to kiss them.
With fireworks exploding above them and hidden from view by trees Amali could not help but fall even deeper in love, and nor could Loraine.

Chapter 1
Arrow House, Warwickshire, 1924
"Tommy, you need to consider remarrying." Aunt Polly told him, bouncing Charlie on her knee as she watched her nephew pace behind his desk. "There have been rumors goin' round."
Taking a deep breath, the leader of the Peaky Blinders turned to the older woman. "What would you have me do, Poll, ey? Take the next best woman that's out on the streets?"
"Don't be ridiculous, Tommy. You need someone with good connections and money." she told him, hoisting the boy into her arms and coming to stand next to Tommy. “She has to accept that you’ve been married before, that there’s a child. Even though we’re rich now, doesn’t mean that all women of the world will fall over for Thomas Shelby.”
Snorting, the second eldest Shelby grinned at his aunt, although the smile wouldn’t reach his eyes. Not since Grace had been shot because of him. “As you just so nicely reminded us, we don’ need the fuckin’ money, the Shelby’s are already fuckin’ rich. What are you gonna do? Arrange a marriage, just like John and Esme?”
“Stop the cursin’, will you. There’s a small child here.” Shrugging her shoulders, Polly regarded him with a stern look he just knew all too well. “I talked to Johnny Dogs, he knows a family in Ireland. Lots of connections, loads of old money.”
“No, Poll.” he shook his head, opening the silver case to grab another cigarette, hoping to calm his nerves from the nagging of his aunt. “I’m not goin’ ta bring anyone new into this family. There’s enough people to take care of as it is. Who’s to say that family doesn’t have ties to our enemies?”
Smoothing out Charlie’s dark blond hair, Polly Grace shook her head. “Stubborn as a mule, that one.” she muttered to the boy, the corners of her lips moving up into a smile as she heard the two-year old laugh at her. “Even John wasn’t bitchin’ so much. I know why you won’t do it, Thomas, but you need to see reason. Your boy needs a mother and you, you need someone to warm that heart of yours, even if ye don’ believe me. Be ready in a week, Johnny will take you to see your future wife.”
Grunting, Thomas Shelby watched his aunt leave the study, his son perched on her hip. Grace had only been gone a few weeks - or had it really been months? - and yet his family was forcing him to marry some spoiled high society girl, whose only problem would be the perfect temperature of her tea. Letting out a defeated sigh, the leader of the Peaky Blinders sank into the plush sofa Polly had occupied minutes before and looked at the portrait of his late wife. “What am I goin’ to do without you, eh? You shouldna have been involved in my fuckin’ mess, Grace."
Of course there was no answer from her, the smile on her lips stayed forever frozen. Dropping his head into his hands, he breathed in the air filled with tobacco and whiskey, trying to keep every detail of his love in his heart, never to forget her.

Dublin, Ireland 1924
"Edward, when will you tell our daughter that it's not ladylike to run around with a horse like that?" Helene McCann, Duchess of Leinster and Baroness of Kildare, admonished her husband entering the large sunroom of their country home Castletown House.
Sitting at the table with his other two daughters Amalie and Louise, he read the newspaper and only hummed. "What would you have me do, hm? Send her to her rooms and lock the doors?" Andrew, Duke of Leinster folded the papers and leaned back to watch his wife with an amused smile on his lips. "She is just as free spirited as you, my darling."
"Oh no, I'm definitely blaming you on that one. Saoirse has done everything to avoid being a proper lady, no thanks to you, love." she countered, sipping her tea and giving her husband an angry look. “You know that Mr. Shelby will arrive today and I want her to be presentable.”
Shaking his head, Andrew grabbed his pipe and lit the tobacco. "Saoirse is just like your mother's cousin has been. She was a free spirit, too, a friend of nature and I know you often went to visit her. I do believe Mister Shelby will be very lucky to marry her and you know that as well."
Sighing, the mother of three leaned back in her seat and turned her gaze on the gardens, hoping that her youngest daughter would at least be fine while out there riding through the forest behind their home.
Hooves beat against the cold ground, harsh pants of the horse sounded in the silence of the woods as it raced through the trees, nostrils flared and kept its attention on the sounds around him.
“Socair.” Saoirse spoke softly, guiding her stallion through the thick undergrowth. “Calm, my love.”
Since her mother had told her about the arranged marriage, the youngest of three daughters left to find solace with her animals. Her dappled grey White Knight brought her to the flower field she had found a few months earlier. “Good boy, we’re going to stay here and enjoy the sun before those men come.”
With a snort, the stallion stopped and Saoirse jumped from the saddle, taking the bridle off of him. She took a deep breath and brushed her hand over the speckled coat of the horse. “I can’t believe father agreed to that marriage mother arranged.”
There had never been time in her life that she wished more than ever to not be a descendant from royalty than now. Arrangements had been made with Thomas Shelby, leader of a gang in Birmingham. Her mother had told Saoirse that in a few months she'd be his wife and make sure that their connections would help him further his business and standing in politics.
Leaning against his neck, the young woman closed her eyes. "What should I do, huh? I don't want to be a wife being kept in a house as a broodmare. I just, I want freedom."
Both, rider and horse snapped to attention when a twig broke behind them in the woods. "Who's there?" she called, her eyes flitting through the green leaves of the trees.
"It's just I, princess." the man reasoned, his accent thick as he spoke. Moving through the underbrush, Saoirse could see the kind eyes of Johnny Dogs he only reserved for her. "I knew I might find ye out 'ere."
Smiling, she moved in for a tight hug. "Oh, how I missed you, Johnny. It has been boring ever since you left."
"Oh I know," the Irish mused with a smile. "I bet yer mum has had you reciting poetry and embroidery."
Rolling her eyes, Saoirse lightly hit his shoulder. "Don't remind me. I'm not as much the lady she wants me to be. But now, why are you here? Don't tell me he's here already."
"I'm afraid he's 'ere." Johnny sighed, seeing the defeated look darken her eyes. He had known her since she was a little girl, having worked for the Duke in his stables and taught her everything about horses and riding that he knew. "Please Saoirse, it's not as bad as ye make it out to be."
Exasperated, she turned away from her friend, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm losing my freedom to be a gangster's wife so he can further his business while I'll have to sit in his manor and play the lady of the house, greeting guests and giving him children to make him seem good."
"Just give Thomas a chance, once in a while people will surprise you." Johnny tried to reason with her.

Alright so I’m writing a Teba x Link x Revali fic, and it was originally supposed to be a 1000-2000 word oneshot, but...well, let’s just say I’m at almost 3000 words now and only about 10% of the way through the plot, so. Yeah.
Anyway, I’m impatient and want to share, but I don’t want to break this up into sub-2000 word chapters, so...I’m just posting a big ol’ chunk of it as, uh, a really long teaser, I guess! I hope y’all enjoy :)
___
Teba knows he’s fucked from the moment he meets Link.
He’s met a few Hylians before, but this one stands out. He’s more...colorful than any other Teba’s seen before, with his golden hair and electric blue eyes and the strange hoops adorning his pointed ears. Teba can’t help but think that he’s far prettier than a Hylian male has any right being, a thought which he immediately pushes out of his mind with an angry huff.
At first, it’s easy to ignore. They have business to attend to, and if he feels a twinge of worry every single time Link narrowly dodges one of Vah Medoh’s lasers, that’s just because he can’t live with another injured warrior on his conscience. The ache in his chest when he leaves him alone on the deck of the Divine Beast is just disappointment in himself, for being foolish enough to get himself injured, and for leaving what should be the business of the Rito to a Hylian stranger.
(The genuine worry in Link’s eyes makes him feel a little better, though.)
When Vah Medoh perches directly above the village, there’s a flurry of panic. After a few minutes, as it seems content to simply sit there with its beak pointed toward the castle, the mood turns to conspiracy, which is only elevated when Harth and Mazli fly up to investigate and return with the unconscious bodies of Link and a Rito male that no one in the village recognizes. Teba misses all of it, laying on a small cot and staring dejectedly at the crossed wooden beams of the infirmary ceiling, and by the time Link and the stranger are brought in he has fallen asleep.
He awakens the next morning to see Link curled up on a cot a few feet away from him, clutching the blankets, a hole the size of his hand burned into his shirt on the left side of his stomach and charred flesh underneath. On the other side of the room, a mess of dark blue feathers lies crumpled in a hammock.
Saki and Harth drift in and out of the room all morning, fussing over the three of them. Link wakes around noon, bringing a hand gingerly to his wound and wincing. Teba sits up and clucks disapprovingly, and Link’s gaze swivels around to him.
“How’s your leg?,” he signs, and Teba huffs.
“Better than your side. What the hell happened in there?”
Link laughs, a breathy little sound. “There was a monster, possessing Medoh. I managed to kill it, but it was a hard fight.”
Teba nods slowly. He finds it hard to believe that this tiny Hylian single-handedly calmed the beast that had shot so many of their finest warriors (including himself, he thinks with a grimace) out of the sky, but according to Saki, it had been completely still for the roughly 16 hours since it landed. And, on some instinctive level, he trusts that Link is telling the truth.
“So who’s this?,” he asks, gesturing at the hammock, and Link looks over. His eyes widen, and he starts to push himself up before falling back onto the cot with a small whimper. A flood of worry rushes through Teba, and before he has time to think about what he’s doing he’s on the floor next to Link, carefully placing a wing on his chest.
“Hey now.” He intends it to be soft, comforting, but it comes out gruff. He tries again. “They’re gonna be okay. Saki and Harth will make sure of that.” Link relaxes a little, and Teba nods approvingly. He stays there, watching carefully, until the silence stretches on for a little too long and he coughs awkwardly and shuffles back to his cot. “...So?”
Link frowns, glancing back over at Teba. “I could tell you, but you wouldn’t believe me.”
Teba raises an eyebrow. “I didn’t believe you when you said you could calm Vah Medoh, and yet here we are.”
“I suppose.” He fiddles with the hem of his tunic, looking uncomfortable. Teba watches with a slowly growing sense of trepidation, wondering what could possibly make him so hesitant to answer such a simple question. Eventually, he spells out a name.
“Revali.”
“...Revali.”
Link nods.
“As in—”
Link nods. Teba can feel the feathers on the back of his neck rising. “This stranger had the gall to claim to be Master Revali, one of the most celebrated Rito warriors in history, who lived one hundred years ago...and you believed him?!”
“He didn’t claim anything. He was barely conscious enough to land Vah Medoh. I...recognized him.”
Teba just...stares. He recognized him? What the hell does that mean? Link swallows and looks away, and Teba starts guiltily.
“Sorry,” he mutters, and Link gives him a thin smile.
“I told you, you wouldn’t believe me.”
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, I just-” He shakes his head. “You recognized him? That doesn’t make any sense.”
Link shrugs. “I could explain that too, and then you’d really think that I’m off the deep end.”
“Try me.”
Link laughs again, louder this time (and Teba’s stupid heart flutters, just a little).
“If you insist,” he responds, and Teba nods. “One hundred years ago...I was the Princess of Hyrule’s appointed knight. I knew all of the Champions, including Revali.” He grimaces. “After we lost, I was...my body was taken to a shrine on the Great Plateau. It healed me, but took away my memories. I’m only just starting to get them back...”
“Link,” Teba says quietly, and he looks over. Teba hesitates for a moment— it feels cruel, somehow, to question what he says, as wildly unbelievable as it is. He forges ahead anyway. “Do you...do you have any proof of this? At all?”
Link gestures helplessly. “I know it sounds insane. Your Elder, he recognized my Sheikah Slate. He believes I’m a descendent of the Hylian champion, which I guess is a lot more believable.”
“I guess.”
They sit in silence. Link looks at the ceiling, then over at the hammock, then back at the ceiling. Teba thinks about his tunic, a shade of blue more vibrant than he thought possible to make fabric in, an unsettlingly similar blue to Vah Medoh’s lasers. And the eye on the back of the strange slate he carries, identical to the eyes of Vah Medoh’s cannons.
Saki pokes her head in. “Oh, good. You’re awake. And you—” she points at Teba, “you should be lying down.”
“I’m not putting weight on it,” he counters, “and it’s healing quickly. It was a shallow wound.”
“Hm.” She doesn’t push, and he’s grateful for it. Instead, she walks over to the hammock, bending over to carefully examine the unconscious Rito. “I may have to ask Amali to make him another elixir. His external wounds seem to be mostly healed, but his breathing is still shallow.” She turns to Link. “How are you feeling?”
She dresses the wound on Link’s chest and worries over Teba’s leg before leaving, and a few minutes later Harth comes in with two plates of steamed salmon. Link insists that he can feed himself despite not being able to sit up, and it’s not until after he’s dropped three entire bites of salmon on the floor that Teba insists upon helping him. He apologizes profusely, but Teba waves it off. He’d done the same for Harth last week. Link goes back to sleep not long after eating, leaving Teba alone with his thoughts again. He watches for a few minutes, wondering at the strange sense of protectiveness he feels toward this strange Hylian he met only yesterday.
He doesn’t think Link is lying. Even to him, it’s clear as day that he believes every word he’s saying. Which means that either he actually did wake up in a strange shrine on the Great Plateau with his memory gone, or he’s horrifically delusional. Teba knows which one of those answers he prefers.
Then there was the strange tablet— a Sheikah Slate, he’d called it. On his hip, it appeared to be a plain stone slab, elaborately carved and painted but otherwise ordinary. Teba knew, though, that on the side facing inward it was not stone, but a strange, smooth surface that started off dark and lit up when touched. He hadn’t gotten a good look at it, but Link had mentioned that it let him fast-travel to any of the shrines he’d visited before.
At first, Teba had shrugged it off as some fancy adventurer’s technology, but now that he thought about it, it was...strange. He’d only ever seen two shrines, the one just outside the village and the one near the Flight Range, and they had both essentially just been elaborately carved hunks of rock for as long as he or anyone else could remember. They’d both flared up with mysterious orange light about a month ago, the same day that mysterious tower had risen in the east and Vah Medoh had appeared, circling ominously close to the village. Maybe he should ask Link what he knows about them...
He sighs and turns away, moving back to his cot and collapsing backwards, suddenly aware that he’s tired as well. He should get some more rest, hopefully be able to leave the infirmary by tomorrow and get back to training within the week. He’s not 100% convinced that Vah Medoh won’t start causing problems again, and if it does, he needs to be ready for it, with or without Link’s help.
It’s difficult to fall asleep— he’s not used to sleeping in the same room as other people, it feels weirdly invasive— but after a while of turning the same thoughts over and over in his head until they dissolve into mush, he manages.
He wakes up to dark skies and Saki holding a platter of meat skewers and three elixirs. She hands Teba and Link one each of the former and puts the platter down between them, before moving over to the hammock and carefully pouring the third into the unconscious Rito’s mouth. She briefly examines Teba’s leg as he eats and tells him that he should stay in the infirmary overnight. He nods.
“Thank you for everything,” Link signs as she re-bandages his wound. She nods in acknowledgment.
“Thank you for helping Teba,” she responds, “and our village. We are all very grateful.”
Link flushes, and Teba tries not to think about how cute it is.
He can sit up now, albeit with a bit of a pained expression. It fades as he eats, but he still collapses back into his pillow as soon as he’s done. “You guys have good food,” he signs, and Teba chuckles.
“Amali is a good cook.”
“How’s your leg?”
“Healing well.” He frowns. “You’re in much worse shape than I am, you shouldn’t worry about me.”
Link just shrugs.
“Well, I do,”
he responds, and Teba has nothing to say to that.

So I Don’t Forget Again: A Breath of The Wild fanfiction
Entry 170: Rito Village
Even though I can’t fly and most of their techniques involves the intricacies of flying and shooting at the same time I’ve still learned a lot. Teba said we were going to take a break today; he had noticed my arm started acting up yesterday and thought I needed a break. Yesterday he thought I just might not have stretched enough before training but seeing me this morning he thought I might have pulled something and suggested I ask Saki to take a look at it.
I guess I’ll have to visit the Domain soon. I’m not even near finished with the medicine I have now. Feels like a waste to have not finished this stuff before getting new medicine, but I was given an excess amount since they didn’t know how long I was going to be gone for.
Bossa Nova kept nudging my arm and side, I think he’s noticed too. That or he just wants scratches and pets. After getting here he practically had been getting them nonstop from just about everyone. With no one petting him I guess he now wanted me to pet him, and he nudged me less after I pet him. There’s also plenty of foliage here. I think Bossa Nova is getting spoiled here. I hope he’ll be okay with leaving when I’m done here.
I found Amali calling out for Kheel. She had gone missing and Amali was searching around the whole village. Though things are much safer, the Yiga have been around attacking people.
Teba and I had been using them in training as targets. I understand it’s to protect everyone in the village, but… I feel nauseous seeing the bodies pile up.
I offered to search outside the village for Kheel.
She was at Warbler’s Nest. She wants to finally have singing practice with her sisters but they refuse to go and she refuses to leave till they join her. I told her that if she had to practice here I or some other warrior should be there. It seems she doesn’t know about the Yiga. I thought about explaining the situation to her but I shouldn’t scare her, what if she becomes too scared to leave the village even when it is safe. I tried telling her there were other dangerous creatures around like wolves, but she still refused. She didn’t need to practice here every day, but it had been so long she at least wanted to sing here just once. I told her that I wanted to hear their singing and didn’t want to miss a thing, so I asked her if she’d please come with me to find her sisters so I could hear their recital practice.
First Kheel and I checked back home and found Genli at the cooking pot, she wanted to do some cooking and had sent some of the others to help her collect some missing ingredients while she prepared. She did tell us where she thought some of the others would be at like the store and such.
When we were searching Amali spotted us and was relieved to see us back safely. She told Kheel it was still too dangerous to be out. I explained I’d be there to look after them, but Amali wasn’t happy. Apparently Teba had told her we were taking a break and told me I was to be resting, not fighting still. I explained the situation with my arm but that only got her to say that was even more reason to rest. She then sighed, saying I am an adult who could make choices for himself but she highly recommended that I return to the zora before my infections get worse and become more permanent, maybe even stay with them till I’m fully healed since all the Divine Beasts had been appeased now.
Even if I’m still fighting, for me, just staying here is a rest. Amali paused for a moment then so softly told me that whenever I needed a break I could always come back here. She then told me to go back to playing with my sisters as Kheel seemed to be getting impatient. She then got flustered noticing what she had said and apologized. In a lot of ways I am rather similar to Kass and with how I’m always with her daughters, playing with them and such whenever I returned from training with Teba I was like a big brother to them. Kass had spoken much of me before Amali and I had actually met, and the tales were so accurate, she felt like she had known me for much longer than we actually had, so in a way I felt somewhat like her own child as odd as it may sound. Especially with how Kass spoke of me in a similar way he had of their daughters.
When Amali and I were hugging Kheel joined in, confused but didn’t want to be left out. I promised her I’d be more careful and that I’d go see the zora doctors soon and return better than ever. Amali said that when I come back, I should bring my boyfriend so she and everyone else could meet him, though with Kass’ many tales of Sidon he sounded like a great person. I think Sidon would like that and I told her I’d see what I could do.
Cree was buying goat butter. Notts was supposed to be helping but seems she wasw slacking off and Knotts was out fishing. I had to do a bit of climbing to reach her, but we found her on her stone perch and she joined us in our search. Knotts was very close to the village, on one of the pillars which were connected by bridges, there’s a little lake on one of them and there we did some spear fishing to get a hearty salmon. They said I fish funny; I didn’t think spear fishing could differ so much from zoras and rito but I suppose like fighting it can surprisingly be very different.
We all returned to the kitchen to cook with Genli. We made Salmon Meuniere, and it’s delicious! They wanted to make seconds but I convinced them not too so we wouldn’t spoil our appetite for dinner.
On they way to Warbler’s Nest they rode on Bossa Nova’s back, constantly giving him pets which I think he was very pleased with.
After some practice they asked me if I sang too. As far as I could remember I didn’t think I ever tried. They… didn’t seem too pleased with the result. I’m now their pet project of sorts. They want to teach me so I can become a great singer and serenade “The fish prince”. It’s common practice to sing to win someone’s heart and they wanted to help me with my relationship with Sidon. They said cooking was good but since I travel so much, I need to do more like their dad who sings a lot for their mom and them. They then got the bright idea of getting Kass to teach me, since we both have deeper voices than them and maybe someone with a slightly more similar range to me could help more. They pushed and pulled me all the way back to the village and demanded that Kass teach me. This whole affair was kind of embarrassing, but… the thought of singing for Sidon is nice.
After practice I assisted Amali in the kitchen again. Many of the Rito dishes involve a meat of some kind and I think many of them would be good for traveling, maybe not the fish meat pie, but many of the other ones seem like they could work like the Salmon Meuniere.
Kass and I did some chatting after dinner. He asked me it this is what it’s always like when in stay in a place after appeasing the Divine Beast, all the training I had been doing. I told him it differs from place to place, but this time… all I have left is finding the Master Sword and Defeating the Calamity and I want to make sure I’m ready. I told him staying in places is more like today, learning something, entertaining children, just… living here, and training to be a warrior is a big part of living here, though I had been training to excess lately and I told him I’d probably be letting up on it. Kass told me it was a good idea, I did so much fighting already and even if the art was my one true love, too much of anything was never good.
We just chatted, I’ve just chatted with others before, but this just felt especially nice. I wonder if it’s just Kass being Kass or what Amali had told me before, but I just really liked this. Maybe it was the soft playing of his accordion when we hadn’t talked for a while, just watching the sunset.
I asked Kass what he was going to do if I defeated the Calamity. Kass told me he’d still be searching for ancient songs. Even if I completed my task, that didn’t mean his job was done, and being a bard is his life, he’s not just doing it because of a dead man’s wish, like me and my journey.
Kass paused for a moment telling me he still didn’t have a song for Revali but he did have a song for someone else, the hero from a hundred years ago. Kass told me that though I can’t remember much his master was there when the Calamity had struck and met the old, dead me. Kass told me of how his teacher had loved Zelda but she had clearly fallen for someone else, the dead hero, and that likely colored this song, but even with jealousy he believed the hero would return and poured that belief into a song. It was still something that could possibly shed some light on my fogged memories even if heavily warped by another impression of that man.
“An ancient hero, a Calamity appears, Now resurrected after ten thousand years. Her appointed knight gives his life, shields her figure, and pays the price. The princess’ love for her fallen knight awakens her power/And within the castle the Calamity is forced to cower. But the knight survives! In the Shrine of resurrection he sleeps, until from his healing dream he leaps! For fierce and deadly trials await. To regain his strength. Fulfill his fate. To become a hero once again! To wrest the princess from evil’s den. The hero, the princess-hand in hand-Must bring the light back to this land.”
Kass asked me if the song had helped any. I… feel something tugging at the back of my mind, but I can’t seem to quite reach it. I know there was something bright, but… nothing else. But the song, I died protecting Zelda? Kass told me his teacher had witnessed it. And it was as Kass had explained before, his Teacher wanted to help and seek out the ancient songs of the hero long past to help me, and after he died Kass took on his wish. Kass said that it was too bad the hero would never return. After all he died saving the princess. He knows, he learned of my past when I had my panic attack, when he had me read through my journal with him. He knows, but… it’s like back in the Zora’s Domain now. He did however tell me that should I meet the princess I should give her my condolences for being a different person, her knight gone, and if she lives, to try to let her down easy about Sidon and I. I asked him if it was a shock to find out when I was panicking. He told me he had a suspicion ever since we solved that deer puzzle together, so he wasn’t surprised. He then started giving advice. Talking about grieving, how he had tried to deal with his feelings about his teacher passing, someone like family to him. About working with your worries, being so scared about the people you care about when traveling. About getting stuck in your head when you have no one else to talk too, one piece of advice that really struck me was speaking aloud to yourself, even just hearing the words not just in your head can make quite a difference. About how to deal with the deathly loneliness all that plus traveling through such barren landscapes on your own can bring.
Kass asked me if I could do a favor for him. He just wants to see me one last time before I set off to fight the Calamity, share a day with him and Amali and his daughters if I could. He said it might be a selfish wish, but to place his own heart at ease before I go fight the thing, he wanted to see I was prepared and felt ready to do so, maybe by then he’d have a song all of his own for me, he had a lot of material to work with after all.
Kass just pulled me into a hug when I started crying. I thanked him and told him I’d be happy to and that I was just happy to be here with everyone. He told me he was happy too.

ML Counsellor AU: Pollen’s Session
There is a bee in Carmine’s apartment! Luckily all it wants to do is talk with Carmine and have a cup of tea.
Carmine had a long day. Another akuma attack that took up half the day, and she had been trapped in a closet for the entire time. She was swore that night, and tired and had taken a two hour long bath and only got out because the hot water had become cold.
She walked out of her bathroom in a fluffy bath rob with a towel wrapped around her head, her red hair drying within the towel. Carmine stopped on her pursuit towards her bedroom she noticed that the kettle was on the stove, and it was bubbling.
“Oh, Greetings!” came a voice, and Carmine slowly turned around, looking straight into the eyes of a kwami. This one, unlike Tikki, Plagg, and Sass, was yellow, with black strips and black antenna.
“Did you enjoy your bath? I hope you do not mind, but I figured after such a long, tedious day, that a cup of tea would be rejuvenating after a long hot bath.” The kwami stated. Carmine noted that it seemed that the kwami had a bit of a feminine voice, it she continued to look at the Bee kwami.
“... my bath was nice, yes... and thank you for putting the kettle on... Miss?”
“You May call me Pollen.” The Kwami stated, smiling “I understand you allow others to call you Carmine, or Mlle Regal, correct?” Pollen stated.
Carmine looked at the kwami somewhat confused, noting the way she spoke about names reminded her about the old stories her grandmother would tell her about never giving your ‘true’ name to the fey, least you lose yourself to them.
“... yes, you may call me Carmine.” She said, as she went to the kitchen to get the kettle that started to whistle. “Do you have a preference for tea?”
“I’m fine with anything, Miss. Carmine.” Pollen said, smiling warmly.
Carmine brought the kettle over, along with a tea cup, a dolls tea cup and a box of earl grey tea. She sat down, looking at Pollen as she made the tea, the kwami looked at her kindly and patiently.
“I understand that my brothers and sister have visit you within recent times, as well as the hero’s Ladybug and Chat Noir.” Pollen said, smiling “What are you impressions of Queen Bee?”
Carmine looked at the Bee kwami curiously “... I have yet to meet Queen Bee personally” Carmine said truthfully “From what little I’ve seen of her however, she seems to be an decent super hero.”
Pollen looked up at Carmine, the calm face remaining but Carmine got the feeling there a slight edge to it “... Indeed, she would of far better if I could stay with her more often, but alas the Guardian disagrees with my sagely advice.” The kwami let out a slight, pompous huff “Foolish old man that thinks he knows better than a five millennium old goddess.” She stated sourly, taking the tea cup that was offered to her.
Carmine looked at her surprised at the sudden change in tone. “... Tikki and Plagg don’t speak of the Guardian, but what little I’ve heard they are nothing. They respectful of him.”
Pollen rolled her eyes, sipping her tea “Respect must be earned, not given.” Pollen stated in a sage like tone. “The Guardian, for all the good he has done, is far from ideal.” Pollen said simply.
Pollen looked up at Carmine, taking a sip of her tea “What do you know about the Guardian, Miss. Carmine?”
“... like I said, not much. The most I can know and gather, is that the Guardian has chosen Ladybug as his successor, meaning that unlike Kwami’s, he’s not immortal.” Carmine said carefully.
“Hm, well I will tell you this, because it doesn’t really matter much now. There was an order dedicated to the protection of the Miraculous.” Pollen began “This order was created a long time ago, however was no created when the Miraculous’ were first created. We, the Kwami’s, wanted to interact with the world and it’s people, to help when needed, and to share our wisdom and advice. We had many guardians who were outside of the order before we went to that temple roughly a 900 years ago.”
Carmine looked at Pollen, surprised that the Kwami was willing to tell her this much about the order and the Guardian.
“Sadly, due to a mistake that was made, the Order fell apart and currently, the only Guardian left is the current one.” The Kwami said, sipping her tea “I will admit, he is the man for the job, by being the only one for the job, even if he is under qualified.”
“That’s... rather harsh.” Carmine said truthfully. She didn’t know if that statement about the Guardian was true or not but it still wasn’t very nice.
“Like I teach all of my bees, respect is to be earned, not given out on a silver platter.” Pollen stated “The Master has shown some aspects that make him an acceptable Guardian, however he also has many faults.” She lowered her tea cup, Carmine noticing it was empty and gave the Kwami some more tea. Pollen gave her nod in thanks before continuing “He’s stubborn, and thinks he knows what is best, and perhaps, sometimes, he does.” Pollen commented “However, he refuses to listen to advice from others if he doesn’t deem it necessary. He’s too focused on defence that he doesn’t focus on offence, he won’t give Chat Noir the mentoring he NEEDS to succeed because he is worried telling the cat too much will cause him to be reckless.”
Carmine noticed that Pollen’s fluff seemed to stand on end, a faint buzzing sound occurring from the kwami “He is so focused on ‘the good of Paris’ he isn’t focusing on the good of the hive!” She hissed loudly, however it sounded more like a buzz. “How are they suppose to do their job, track down Hawkmoth to save Nooroo, if they are unharmonious, and treated so differently!” She yelled loudly. The small kwami was panting, the anger slowly leaving her body before she took a deep breath and exhaled.
“... my apologies, whenever the harmony of the hive is threatened, I become a bit... agitated.” She apologized, taking another sip of her tea.
Carmine looked at Pollen, eyebrow raised “... I’m surprised that the Kwami of subjection would be so focused on the harmony with the other hero’s.” Carmine said truthfully.
Pollen looked at the woman with a raised brow “... Miss. Carmine, if you haven’t noticed, I am a bee.” She stated as if it was the most obvious thing in the world “If I bee tries to work alone, it dies. Whether it’s a worker bee or a Queen Bee. I am mainly known as the Kwami of Subjection, however my official title is the Kwami of Subjection and Harmony, similar to how Tikki is the Kwami of Creation and Life, and Plagg is the Kwami of Destruction and Death. Each Kwami has two meanings.”
“I see, I apologies for my ignorance.” Carmine said truthfully.
“Apology accepted.” Pollen stated smiling slightly “... it’s just... Harmony would be easier to keep if Queen Bee was there more often, or permanently.”
Carmine looked at Pollen in a confused manner at the statement. She also felt the towel on her head giving her a bit of a headache from being on her head too long, and began to undo the towel to give her hair a quick dry.
“Why would you say that?” Carmine asked curiously “From what little I’ve seen of Queen Bee, she seems a bit boastful, an was practically attached to Ladybug at the hip.”
“No Bee is perfect without training.” Pollen began “All of my previous kings and queens needed training in one way or another, but the role of the bee is to help bring harmony to the rest of the group. Look at my previous Bees! Mifang, Hachi, Artimisia, Amalie Bourgeois, Grace O’Malley!” Pollen stated loudly “Each one great leaders, negotiators, friends, lovers! The bee is versatile, it can be defence, or offence.” The fluff around Pollen’s neck began to bristle, a soft buzz coming from the kwami “However the guardian refuses, he fears the the comb will fall into the wrong hands. He has never seen the bee in action! If he had, he would know that we are needed in order to help... them...”
Pollen trailed off as Carmine took the towel off her head, her dark red hair falling on her shoulders. Pollen remained quiet for a few moments, and Carmine raised a brow.
“... Pollen?”
“...” Pollen gave a small, almost somber smile “... one of my bees, he had deep red hair was well. He called himself Royal Stinger, he was a knight, a general, and a true leader.” She said softly “He believed in his team, and in his friends... he was a good bee. He retired from being Royal Stinger when he met his wife, and they had children... His many accomplishments allowed Brice to gain a surname, not an easy feat back than.”
Carmine looked at Pollen confused, but Pollen continued to smile.
“... it’s nice to see that even after all these centuries that red hair is still a feature in the Regal line.”
Carmine’s eyes widened, looking at Pollen with an expression of shock.
“Do you still have your family grimoire, I imagine it has gotten quite big now.” Pollen asked curiously, sipping her tea.
“Wh... how....” Carmine asked slowly.
“What, you think that I would stay with Brice for three years and not see him doing work in that old book?” Pollen asked, smirking “He never let me read it, explained that it had things in it that could be used against me and the other Kwami’s.”
“... did you honestly come here to talk about the Guardian?” Carmine asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“Oh, yes of course I did.” Pollen said honestly, sipping her tea “I can’t always express my concerns to the other Kwami’s, many of them feel like that he is doing the best job he can. And he is, which is concerning.” She stated, rolling her eyes.
“I have higher hopes for Ladybug, she seems more willing to listen to her kwami, and listen to other people’s advice before making an option of her own.”
“... but that isn’t the only reason you came, is it Pollen?” Carmine asked slowly.
Pollen remained quiet for a moment, gently placing the tea cup down as she took a deep breath. “... when Sass returned two weeks ago, and told us how a woman listened to him talk about Medusa, he said that ‘Mlle Carmine Regal is an excellent listener.’ Regal isn’t a common name, less common in French. I figured I would come and see if it was the same family.” She smiled as she looked up at Carmine, more specifically her hair “... Brice told me that everyone in his family had dark red hair, ‘a gift from the fey’ he would say.” She said smiling “He was probably not wrong. Well most fey enjoy the fairer folk, I can think of a few that enjoy red hair.”
Carmine continued to look at Pollen, a neutral expression on her face “... So, what now?”
“I won’t tell anyone else about you being a mage. It isn’t my secret to tell.” Pollen stated, smiling “... I would enjoy talking to you more however, Miss. Carmine. Perhaps even plan how to convince that foolish man to listen to someone else besides himself.”
Carmine let out a soft hum, leaning back in her chair “... I make no promises, but I won’t turn down someone in need.” Carmine said truthfully, looking down at Pollen.
Pollen smiled “... I also have a request of you, Miss. Carmine... please be a mentor to my current Queen. Her home life is less than idea, and she needs nurturing to be a proper, true Queen.”
Carmine thought of Queen Bee, of Chloe Bourgeois, of the circumstances she was in and of the small kwami asking her to help her.
“... Well, I would do dishonour to my name as a Regal if I refused to help royalty.” Carmine said, smiling as she held her tea cup forward, smiling “Cheers?”
Pollen grinned, holding up her own tea cup, clinking the glasses together “Cheers.”

Princess And The Dragon | Closed
@http-anti
Amalie was barely three, following her parents on a trip through the forest. They took a stop, needing to fix a few things. Amalie was restless, causing the king and queen to let her run around like wild. She played knight, trying to get others to join her but they only laughed and waved her off.
She took a jump, landing in a small ditch that looked like a dragon’s foot. She excitedly followed the footprints finding a cave. She peaked in and saw it was almost completely dark. Biting her lip she looked around and realized she was lost.
Swallowing her fear she walked in, continuing forward. “Hewwo?” She called out softly. “Anyone here?” She asked again.

Cute The Knights of the Alder facts to cheer me up
when Aiden was a baby his mom didn't sleep the first days because she was afraid something could happen to him, but one day she was so tired she did fall asleep while her husband was away and when Aiden cried then Henry picked him up and rocked him back to sleep so the baby won't wake up their mom
Aiden and Henry's parents were really close friends with their neighbors so their families spent almost all holidays together
Ranva assisted the birth of the neighbor's daughter and her neighbor assisted Aiden's birth in return, so both were the first ones to hold their best friend's babies in their arms
Henry used to read or tell Aiden stories when he couldn't sleep
toddler Aiden followed his family members around like a little duckling and had the habit to tackle his dad and Henry with a hug when they returned from a hunt
toddler Henry was obsessed with his mother's bees, he always imitated their buzzing, much to Ranva's delight
Henry called small Aiden little rabbit (because he always ran around like one) and at one point his whole family started calling him that
Milan carved toys out of wood for his sons
Ranva sang them to sleep every night when they were younger
Aiden makes their mom's apple pie for Henry's birthday (even in the years after he disappeared)
Henry asked Callan's father for his blessings before he proposed to him
he gifted Callan Ranva's wedding necklace when they got married
the two sometimes sneak away during social gatherings to have some alone time, usually they disappear in the garden
when his advisor notices Callan being stressed out, he let's a guard call for Henry so he can calm him down (if he's not already there that is)
many people at court actually envy Callan and Henry for how strong and pure their love is (they are the couple that makes them think "wow I hope to find a love like this some day")
when they were children, Henry read Callan stories and Callan regularly fell asleep leaned against Henry or with his head on Henry's lap, what got Henry pretty flustered
as a child Callan made flower crowns for himself and his loved ones
as a toddler he called his nurse Amalie "Ama", what sounds a lot like mama, and it fits because she practically raised him
Callan and Henry as well as Ranva and Milan are actually soulmates, or destined hearts how the fae call it

(Out of) Office Apropos: 7 Ensembles We Wore While WFH This Week
Spring is finally here, and in New York, you can feel it in the air—even if only when you’re poking your head out your apartment window. Blossoms are dotting tree branches that were bare all winter, each day lasts a little longer than the previous one: bright spots during a strange and difficult time.
One constant? A new season means a new installment of Office Apropos. Of course, we’re not in the office right now—so, below, six Team MR members share what they wore while working from home on Monday. (Next week, we’ll discuss what the rest of the team have been wearing while OOO, so keep your peepers peeled for that.)
Leandra
A couple summers ago, I wrote about the outfits I wear to go out and get my morning coffee, knighting them among the best things I wear. It occurred to me sometime this weekend that stay-home-but-take-selfies-and-publish-them fashion basically calls for the same style cues—they’re fleeting and inconvenient and relatively impractical to the extent that they don’t hold up if you’re spending too much time outdoors. On the flip side, they’re very comfortable—the essence of getting half-dressed. So as I continue to ease into finding myself through my style in the washing machine of my jumbled feelings, I’m landing on this how-to-dress formula that might even trump the old way. That’s a silver lining, right? Here’s looking for more.
Eliz
I went on a walk at 6:25 a.m. this morning in my pajamas. I saw one person, about twenty-feet away from me, which I was thankful about for reasons beyond the fact I was in my pajamas. The difference between pajamas and day clothes is beginning to blur so much that when I do get dressed, it feels like a small win. Getting dressed, even just to take a selfie or have a video call (which I don’t always do, sorry coworkers) simply keeps the muscles moving in the shit I own. And in my creative brain! Today I had two video calls and did floor exercises in front of my mirror, so I saw myself and I wanted to see ME, not a shell of me wearing mismatched pajamas to avoid my building’s communal laundry room. When I put on something as simple as a headscarf or necklace, I’m legitimately happier all day. And right now, seasons don’t matter as much, so I can wear items like I did here (shorts and a sweater) with added said headscarf and necklace as if it’s a perfect 72-degree day of Office Apropos when I didn’t even realize the value of a sidewalk photo.
Jasmin
This is the first time I’ve worn jeans in over a week, and you know what, it feels really good! Like I’m strapped in and ready for Monday morning. Some rigidness to whip me into shape for the week. The good thing about staying in, though, is that I’ve only had to do up one button on this shirt. I’ve also thrown on some different earrings today, which feels like a nice change. And these socks, you ask? These I tie-dyed with my own two hands at a Man Repeller event last summer. What initially looked like a right mess has now manifested into some mood-lifting footwear.
Amalie
I’m tired of dressing in sweats (for today). I’ve been the one on every Google Hangout with her hair splayed in a knotted bun, no bra, and a ratty T-shirt from my PJ drawer, stained with lunch. It was time to give the work week the dignity it deserves. I opted for the softest denim in my closet (scored this pair from Poshmark) and wore it with a tank top and STILL NO BRA! (My mom is mad. “Keep the girls up,” she always said.) Anyway, I’ve really been feeling spring on all my long walks, seeing the cherry blossoms open early for us and the snow-white Callery pear trees lining the streets in Park Slope. I’ve had this floral quilted blazer in my closet for months and finally felt inclined to wear it. I put blush on my cheeks and washed and combed my hair. Added a clashing sock. I’m comfy all day, and somewhat professional. A win-win-win during a series of days that never feel like wins.
Tiffany
Today I’m doing a version of what Harling dubbed “google hangouts couture”: properly dressed up top, sweats on the bottom. The shirt is from Kwaidan Editions, a London-based brand I have an unhealthy obsession with. In my very humble opinion, the husband-and-wife duo are helping to fill the “interesting clothes for adult women” void left by Phoebe Philo.
After months lusting after this collection, I pulled the trigger when this shirt went on sale on Net-A-Porter. (I was missing smart, work-appropriate tops.) The shirt arrived as we were all heading out to WFH, so it’s been lifting my mood while it awaits its debut in the MR office.
Lorenza
I’ve been trying to keep things simple—the less I wear, the less I have to wash. After lounging in pajamas for a whole week, I decided I needed to properly get dressed to feel like a human again. I’m also itching for spring—so I felt my outfit should reflect that eagerness. Bright on top of bright! These are one of my favorite pairs of jeans because they’re so stretchy and never lose their shape, even when I’m sitting cross-legged on the couch, hunched over my computer. As for the top—another favorite—I’ve recently become obsessed with long-sleeve T-shirts and insist on wearing them for every occasion. In fact, I’ve worn almost this exact outfit out dancing—true duality in a time of crisis.
Marisa
When selecting today’s WFH outfit for quarantine day ~infinity, two guiding principles came to mind: cheery colors and comfort up the wazoo. I began by fashioning my own tie-dye unitard, complete with a vintage long-sleeve tee and coordinated bike shorts from Etsy. I then layered a vintage sleeveless sweater tunic for good measure (i.e. suitable pelvic coverage). To finish, I threw on my prized vintage Fair Isle reversible vest to combat the late-March draftiness and double-wrapped a favorite Roxanne Assoulin necklace as an anklet for extra pizzazz. Foot jewelry = the ultimate sartorial savior when going absolutely nowhere. Ta-da!

President & CEO – Ruth Eckerd Hall
The President & CEO will partner with and report to the board of directors in advancing the programs, visibility, and impact of Ruth Eckerd Hall, Inc.
Organization Ruth Eckerd Hall, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that manages and operates the Ruth Eckerd Hall (owned by the City of Clearwater, Florida), the Murray Theatre, the newly renovated ballroom known as the Margarete Heye Great Room, the Marcia P. In addition to becoming ADA accessible, it expanded seating to 750, including six private loge boxes, and added a larger lobby, an outdoor balcony that overlooks the beautiful Clearwater causeway, a VIP lounge, a rooftop terrace, and a Panel of Honor from World War I with the names of Clearwater citizens who served in the war. The 2018-2019 performances at the Capitol Theatre include Art Garfunkel, Los Lobos, The Zombies, Lewis Black, Michael Bolton, Wayne Newton, Michael McDonald, Petula Clark, and FRIENDS! The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts is now in its sixth year as a GRAMMY Museum affiliate, where more than 100 aspiring musicians, singers, and songwriters have participated in an intensive program that includes instruction, performance, and mentoring with award-winning artists, directors, and composers.
Ruth Eckerd Hall, Inc. is governed by a 29-member board of directors, with Frank Hibbard serving as Board Chair. Its administrative and production teams are comprised of approximately 90 full-time and 180 part-time employees, led by the President & CEO. Ruth Eckerd Hall, Inc. has an operating budget of $25 million, including approximately 70 percent from programming and rentals, 25 percent from fundraising and special events, and 5 percent from other revenues. Ruth Eckerd Hall had gross ticket sales of more than $13 million in its 2017-2018 fiscal year, representing 374 ticketed events, including 125 sell-outs, and total attendance of almost 275,000 people. The Capitol Theatre was ranked number one of the top Florida club venues (sixth in the world) and Ruth Eckerd Hall on the Road was ranked 33rd of the top concert promoters in the United States (53rd in the world).
Ruth Eckerd Hall recently surpassed $21 million in its $34 million Expanding the Experience capital campaign. Renovations will include a significant Grand Lobby expansion with stunning floor-to-ceiling windows, new live music locations at The Kate Tiedemann and Ellen Cotton Cabaret Theatre and Holt Family Stage, The England Family Welcome Pavilion, a two-story Dress Circle member lounge overlooking the Grand Lobby, the Raymond James Financial Ticket Office, and an expansive six-lane Grand Entry.
Community The City of Clearwater is located in the Tampa Bay Area, a dynamic community with a population of approximately three million people and a median age just over 42. The Tampa Bay Area is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the Southeastern United States. Coastal Living included St. Petersburg/Clearwater on its list of the 20 best places to live in 2017, calling nearby St. Petersburg an “upstart city on Florida’s Gulf Coast.” The magazine based its rating on its beaches, cultural attractions, and dining and entertainment options while saluting the area’s “historic, small-scale neighborhoods” for balancing “big-city pleasures.” Coastal Living also took into account the population, average high and low temperatures, median home price, area commutability, and average days of sunshine. Additionally, Trip Advisor named Clearwater Beach the nation’s best beach in 2018.

2017-18 NHL Season Recap
Tumblr media
It's been a little over a month since the 2017-18 NHL season ended, and it was definitely one for the record books. This was a year that saw many firsts, and sadly, many lasts. Let’s take a look at everything that transpired this past year. Starting with the firsts? Obviously expansion was the biggest story this season, as the 30 team National Hockey League became 31, with the Vegas Golden Knights joining the league, becoming the first expansion team in the NHL since the Columbus Bluejackets and the Minnesota Wild at the start the 2000-01 season. However, before it was all said and done, the Knights would go to do things the Jackets and the Wild (and pretty much any expansion team before it) could only dream of doing in their first NHL seasons. But more on that in a few... Continuing with a first (of sorts), for the first time since 1994 the NHL did not participate in the Winter Olympics, with the league announcing this towards the end of the previous season. Several players vowed that they would participate anyway, however this would not come to fruition as the NHL and International Ice Hockey Federation established a blacklist prior to the season that forbid national teams from offering invitations to NHL players that were currently under contract. The regular season began on October 4th with the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Pittsburgh Penguins, opening up at home against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues would upset the Pens in OT, to spoil the fun on a night Pittsburgh raised their 5th Stanley Cup banner in from of their home town fans, and the 2017-18 NHL season was off and running. The aforementioned Vegas Golden Knights established early on that they were not your typical expansion team, coming out of the gate with an 8-3-0 record in the season's first month, including a 6-1-0 record at home. In fact, they were so dominant at home, that it would not be until the middle of February before they lost more than 1 home game in a month. The Knights would go on to have the strongest debut season for any expansion team in North American Profession sports history, and becoming the first NHL team since the 1926-27 New York Rangers to win their division in their inaugural season, not counting the Western Division in the 1967 NHL expansion, which consisted of all expansion teams. This would be just one of many highlights in a historic season for the first year club. As the NHL season rolled along, other highlights would include 3 outdoor games, continuing what has become both a tradition, and a big money maker for the league. The first of these (continuing the league's year long celebration of the NHL's 100th anniversary) was the NHL 100 Classic, which was held on December 16, 2017 at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa, as the home town Senators defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-0. The outdoor festivities continued on New Year's Day at the annual Winter Classic, as the New York Rangers defeated the Buffalo Sabres in overtime 3-2, on a goal by JT Miller. This game was held at Citi Field in Flushing, NY, home of the New York Mets, and despite being billed as an "away" game (for tax exempt purposes), the Rangers played to a packed house full of mostly diehard blueshirt fans. The outdoor games concluded on March 3, 2018 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, in Annapolis, Maryland, as the home town Washington Capitals defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2. In between the various outdoor games was the annual NHL All Star Game, held on January 28th, at Amalie Arena, home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. In a format established two seasons earlier of 2 separate games featuring division vs division from each conference first, eventually the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division faced the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, with the Pacific prevailing 5-2 in the final game. Rookie Forward, Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks was named All-Star Game MVP. In series of lasts, sadly the end of an era came for 2 future Hall Of Famers, as the Sedin Twins, Daniel and Henrik, announced their retirement, having played their entire careers together with the Vancouver Canucks, and having mirroring careers, both playing in over 1,300 games, both amassing over 1,000 points, and both winning the Art Ross and King Clancy Trophies. Also announcing their retirements were Nashville Center, Mike Fisher, long time Chicago Blackhawk Winger, Patrick Sharp, and veteran Forward, Radam Vrbata of the Florida Panthers. As the NHL regular season wound down, it became clear that the NHL playoffs would feature numerous teams that had not made the postseason in several seasons, and a few perennial playoff teams that would fail to qualify for the first time in many years. The New York Rangers saw their streak of 7 straight playoff seasons (and 11 out of the last 12) end, as did the Chicago Blackhawks streak of 9 straight seasons, and the St. Louis Blues streak of 6. Teams returning to the playoffs included the New Jersey Devils for the first time in 5 seasons, the Colorado Avalanche for the first time in 3 seasons, and the Winnipeg Jets for first the time in 2 seasons, and of course, the Vegas Golden Knights for the first time ever. They were joined by perennial playoff mainstays the Washington Capitals, The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning in the East, and the San Jose Sharks, Anaheim Ducks and the Nashville Predators in the West. It has long been said that the Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all of professional sports, and that can never be understated. The NHL playoffs in general are the most grueling of all the 4 major sports, featuring 16 teams and four rounds of grueling 7 game series that takes around two months to complete. This year's playoffs were no exception, as 4 of the 8 first round series went at least 6 games, with one of them going the full 7 games. The 2nd round was even tougher as 3 of the 4 rounds went to at least 6 games, and one going to 7. In the East, there were 3 compelling stories. The first was whether or not the Pittsburgh Penguins could become the first team since the New York Islanders in the 1980's to win 3 consecutive Stanley Cups. The second was if Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals could finally get over the hump after many years of high expectations, and just get past the 2nd round. And the third was if the #1 seeded Tampa Bay Lightning, who were referred to as the "New York Rangers South" after having acquired JT Miller and Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh at the trade deadline to add a team that already featured former Blueshirts defensemen, Dan Giradi, Anton Stralman, and former Captain Ryan Callahan, could fulfill their designation as the odds on favorite to win the Cup. All 3 teams answered the bell right away, winning their first round series' against the Flyers, Columbus and New Jersey, respectively. Boston defeated Toronto in 7 games, and the 2nd round was set. In the West the story, of course, was the Vegas Golden Knights. The team that had shocked the world in the regular season with an expansion team record of 109 points faced off against the Los Angeles Kings in a first round match up. The Knights trumped the Kings in 4 straight, making short work of a team that 4 seasons earlier had won their 2nd Stanley Cup in 3 years. San Jose also swept the Anaheim Ducks, and powerhouses Winnipeg and Nashville prevailed in their series against the Wild and the Avalanche, setting the stage for the always grueling second round, which is probably the toughest round in the playoffs to win. The Washington Capitals are perennial second round losers. I mean, what else do you call a team that hadn’t gotten out of the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals since 1998, when they went to the Stanley Cup Finals, and routinely lost in the middle round to both the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins (6 of the last 9 times in fact), dating back the 2008-09 playoffs? Well, this was the year they finally got over the hump. And what better team to get over it against than the aforementioned Penguins, who had almost been as much a thorn in the Caps sides as the Rangers? It took 6 games, but Washington finally took out the defending Cup Champions, setting up an Eastern Conference Finals showdown against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who made short work of the Boston Bruins in 5 games. Out in the West, the power struggle between the top 2 point getters in the entire NHL went the full 7 games, with Winnipeg Jets prevailing against the defending Western Conference Champion Nashville Predators. In the meantime, the Western Conference version of the Capitals, a.k.a. the San Jose Sharks fell to the freight train that was the Golden Knights in 6, setting up two conference finals match ups that would, at the very least, guarantee a team would win the Stanley Cup that hadn’t done so in 14 years, but making even more likely the chance that we would actually see a team that had never won before, get a chance to hoist Lord Stanley. Who would it be? As previously mentioned, the second round of the NHL playoffs is probably the most difficult to win, but the Eastern Conference finals is the one that gets more of the spotlight, simply because that’s the round that decides who actually gets to play for the 35.25 inch, 34.5 lb fabled chalice known as the Stanley Cup. Out in the West, Vegas once again proved that not only do expansions rules not apply to them, but they are disregarded with relative ease. Sure the Jets gave them a wake-up call with a Game 1 victory in a packed Bell MTS Place full of Winnipeg fans all decked out in white…but after that, the Golden Knights won 4 straight games ensuring themselves a full week’s rest before they had to worry about another game. Meanwhile over in the Eastern Conference, you had the Washington Capitals, finally getting past the second round after years of playoff letdowns, and the Tampa Bay Lightning, appearing in their second Eastern Conference Final in 4 years, also with the pressure of being the team everyone felt was the odds on favorite to win it all. Who would prevail? Well, it was my thinking that once the Capitals got past the Penguins, there was no stopping them, and I was right. But it wasn’t easy, as it took 7 games, with the Capitals shutting out the Lightning 4-0 in Tampa Bay. This set the stage for the Stanley Cup Finals, featuring 2 teams who had never won a championship before. The end result would either be a long time contender, and a hall of fame player in Ovechkin, finally fulfilling years of promise, or the biggest upset in the history of organized sports taking place. The Stanley Cup Finals are no different than any of the other final championship rounds or games in professional sports. Like the World Series, the Super Bowl and the NBA Finals, it is often dragged down by too much advertising, ridiculous start times, and celebrity and corporate sports “fans” who either want to be “seen”, or entertain clients. It’s annoying at times, and disheartening as a true sports fan, but it is what it is. The fact remains, this is what the players have fought, scratched and clawed for all season long, and after months of hard work, this is the round where a champion will finally be crowned. With more points than Washington in the regular season, The Vegas Golden Knights had home ice advantage in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Capitals, and immediately took advantage with a 6-4 victory in Game 1, but the Caps bounced back with a 3-2 win in Game 2, as the series shifted to Washington. This was where the Capitals put an end to the dream season for Vegas with a 3-1 victory in Game 3, and 6-2 trouncing in Game 4, setting the stage for the Capital to win the Stanley Cup back in Vegas for Game 5. After a scoreless 1st period, Washington took the lead early in the 2nd on a goal by Jakub Varna. The Knights would tie the game shortly after on a goal by Nate Schmidt, but Washington would regain the lead on a power play goal by Alex Ovechkin. However, Vegas would not go down without a fight as they rattled off 2 consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead into the 3rd period. The Capitals would tie the game halfway through the third period on a goal by Devante Smith-Pelly, and less than 3 minutes later would take the lead for good on a goal by Lars Eller with 7:37 remaining. The Knights would pull goaltender Marc Andre-Fleury for the extra skater and make a final push, but it was to no avail as the Capitals hung on to win their first ever Stanley Cup, and set off a wild celebration in Sin City. Alexander Ovechkin, with 15 goals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. As a long time Rangers fan, I was obviously disappointed that my team did not make the playoffs this past year...however, this was one of the more memorable NHL seasons I can recall in recent memory. From an expansion team shocking the world, to a memorable Winter Classic featuring my Rangers, to the retirement of 2 legendary players, to the fulfillment of a long time destiny by another, I already cannot wait for the 2018-19 season to start. Who knows what surprises lay ahead? Read the full article

So I Don’t Forget Again: A Breath of The Wild fanfiction
Entry 165: Flight Range
Kass caught me heading out for the Flight Range. I can only hold on to my paraglider for so long, and I certainly can’t carry Bossa Nova while using the paraglider so Kass offered to show me to the Flight Range. Harth appeared, saying that probably wouldn’t be a good idea for Kass but Kass told him it would be fine, and to keep resting, he really shouldn’t have been working while still injured. Harth said if he wasn’t looking out for the three of us, no one will. Not everyone likes stubborn individuals like us after all. He passed Kass a bow, telling him to just pay him later and leave the rupees on the work desk in his shop. Kass thanked him, but Harth said to thank him by coming back alive with Teba.
There were several shrines on the way to the Flight Range, all of which I had completed. I asked Kass about Rivali’s legacy, what was he known for, if he had any descendants. As far as he knew Rivali didn’t have any descendants and as for a legacy, him being known as the Champion, his Landing and the Flight Range. Not much as for as he knew, not even a song. Kass realized that even having grown up there he didn’t know much about the guy. He was going to have to dig deep to find anything he could transform into a song. Kass hoped he could find something I could like.
There were many bushels of spicy peppers, so we made some more elixirs for Bossa Nova. Although I’m still a little worried about bring him onto mountains with snow so we left him back in the village for now. Besides, I don’t think we could have taken him even if we wanted too, the girls refuse to leave him alone.
The flight range is a great updraft in a large hole. There’s a pillar in the middle, on the walls and pillar are targets. Next to the updraft is a little building with some bows, bow maintenance matterials and repair equipment as well as supplies and a cooking pot.
Teba was sitting by the edge of the jumping off dock, point, thing, repairing his bow when he spotted me. He looked rather tired. After a few moments he told me that he didn’t know me, and that he was busy so I should go. Then he went back to his repair work. His feathers are white like the snow.
Before I could speak Kass called out to him. Teba just kept his back to us then asked what Kass could possibly want. I told him that we want to fight the Divine Beast and stop it’s rampage. Right when my words were done an arrow zipped past me, landing in the middle of a far-off target. Kass shot it. Teba looked to us and stood from his perch. He was confused. Kass wants to fight now when before he just ran off abandoning his wife and children for a dead man in such dangerous times only to return with some random hylian and both want to help him defeat Vah Medoh. He wasn’t going to believe that. Kass said his leaving was to protect his family, not only his wife and children but his master was his family too, helping his master fulfill his final wishes was going to help save Hyrule. Teba didn’t believe playing those songs for anyone but the Champions would help anyone, they’re all dead so it’s meaningless. Aside from that Kass’ master is dead while his wife and children are very much alive and can’t fight for themselves, he should have stayed to protect them, they need him more. Kass said he was protecting them by doing his part to save Hyrule’s future, he’s helping me, his capable friend get stronger, a person who could possibly end all this, someone with potential that far surpasses his own and Teba’s. Kass said he was satisfied sitting on the side lines and knows when he’s not powerful enough, unlike Teba who keeps insisting on fighting even when it’s impossible to win. He then spoke of how scared and worried he is making Saki and Tulin. Teba said he was actually trying and not leaving the work to someone else to pick up for him. Vah Medoh is a threat to his family and he was not going to ever sit idly by if his loved ones were in danger. Even if he’s not as powerful as others he didn’t care, he was going to keep fighting, it’s the only possible way to protect them. He said of all people Kass should be fighting, he didn’t care that Kass much preferred playing his music to fighting, Kass could do whatever he wanted, but he should place the needs of his family over his own wants. Even when Kass was under the tutelage of his master, he was still a great warrior, he said Kass needed to put his training to good use. He never should have left. His family, Teba, and everyone else desperately needed him, especially with so many warriors dead now, there’s not enough hunters to feed everyone. People used to respect him and would have followed his lead. Of all people to leave Kass should have been the last. Everyone needs him too much. Even if he’s here now, they needed him earlier.
Kass just sighed, the past is in the past, we can’t change it, only the present and future and he was here now, so is Teba, and I. Teba took a moment to cool off, apologized to me for having seen that. He was glad that at least we weren’t here to stop him unlike so many others who had tried to do so before.
Teba however wasn’t going to trust us just because of that, we needed to prove we could fight well in the air with a bow. First Kass and I shot many targets in a limited amount of time, then Teba gave us another tests. Go hunting. All three of us did so…
I didn’t even think about it before, it just felt so natural sharing ingredients, I didn’t even give a second thought as to why Amali needed my ingredients. She only had a few items in the pantry so I gave her some of the things I had in Bossa Nova’s saddle bags.
We got a lot, so much we couldn’t carry it all and had to take several trips to get it back to the village. Kass asked if Teba would return to the village with us. Teba wanted to get in more training. He told us to prepare, get as many arrows as we could along with some sleep, we were to plan and head out for battle at sunrise. After getting all the food back, having dinner and collecting arrows I returned to the Flight Range. Teba looked at me surprised for a moment before returning to training. After a while we started fighting each other, showing one another our respective archery techniques.
Once he noticed the sun should be rising soon, I stopped so I can write down my memories. Teba is taking a rest too, having a quick power nap before Kass arrives. Perhaps even after Vah Medoh is appeased, maybe Teba will train with me some more. I learned a lot from him in just this one night.
When we battled, I noticed Teba didn’t hold anything back even though it was training. He held no hesitation. Is it because he feels responsible for protecting his family because he’s the only one who can, so it’s an obligation… His views on that intrigue me. I started this journey because I was told too and nothing more, but over time, I found my own motivations. I do this because I want too, not because I’m supposedly the only one who can. What if I didn’t want to do this? I think people should be allowed to choose to do with their life what they want, but… what if you are forced into something you don’t want, but are the only one who can, are you then obligated too, or not and your own will being more important. I suppose Zelda chose duty over herself…
We talked about this for a while. Teba is very forceful about his stance, I was told he was stubborn, I guess it didn’t sink in till now. But though he stands with his beliefs he was willing to listen to my arguments. I kind of like we don’t see eye to eye, I’m learning a lot from him. He told me he was learning a lot from me too. He said I’m very skilled, that it seemed as if time stopped as I shot each arrow with such precision. Only after our debate did Teba realize that he never asked my name, he wanted to know the name of such a skilled person.
He told me he felt like he had heard my name somewhere before. He thought that surely tales of such a skilled person would have reached the village by now. I told him I’m a historian of sorts, I’m trying to learn as much about the past as I can, hoping it will help with my memory loss and so I can learn more of then so I can fight the Divine Beasts now. I’ve been doing a lot of traveling and even I have heard tale of my travels from others, but none of them knew my name, just some mysterious knight guy, but maybe someone learned of it at some point. He admitted that it was hard to believe I had fought off the other Divine Beasts, but right now, Teba was going to take all the help he could get, but… I certainly had the skill to do so.
Kass should be back any moment now, perhaps I’ll see if I can fit in a quick nap too.
