saw the knight papyrus theory and got obsessed. decided what if dark world version of sans that doesn't change much. also thought

"hey, what if papyrus had an outfit closer to his battle body from undertale when he's the knight"

"hey, jevil becomes the devilsknife which is a scythe and the knight uses a knife in the light world. what if that knife becomes a scythe when the knight enters the dark world?"

"hey if papyrus has a knife, what's stopping sans from getting a locket in the dark world?"

"hey, how badly would a weird route of this scenario end?"

and you know. other normal thoughts.

Who told Sans that Kris could help? Can't say. Kinda rude to talk about someone that's listening, y'know?

EverydayArsonist’s Deltarune Predictions (Chapters 3,4, and 5 only)

Chapter 3:

•Takes place in the Dreemurr household

•Toriel will be a playable party member

•Undyne will have relevance in the chapter

•There will NOT be a weird route (or at least one similar to Snowgrave)

•The chapter will shed some light on the past (Kris’ arrival, their relationship with Asriel, maybe even why Asgore and Toriel divorced)

Chapter 4:

•Takes place in the church

•Noelle will return as a prominent character

•The weird route will continue on the story of Chapter 2’s weird route

•The story will follow the history of the Holiday family, and shed SOME light on what happened to Dess. (The truth about Dess will be revealed in chapter 5)

Chapter 5:

•The truth about what happened to Dess will be revealed at last

•We will fight The Roaring Knight in this chapter

•The knight’s identity will be revealed

•Papyrus is the knight

•ICE-E WILL be involved somehow. Trust me.

•The others will learn the truth about the soul.

you know what isnt acknowledged enough?

we know more about sans and gaster's backstories than papyrus'.

what we know about gasters backstory:

he was the royal scientist, he likely had a lot of hubris, he built the core, he fell into the core, pieces of his existence were scattered across time and space, he had a following of people that were seemingly also caught in the blast and was/is somehow connected to papyrus, sans, the player, chara and deltarune. certainly not the most detailed but a damn good basic outline

what we know about sans' backstory:

he at some point was a scientist, there is a mysterious group of people he will supposedly never see again, he is likely the older of the 2 brothers, he might have seen a human before frisk, he at some point lost hope of ever returning to an unspecified location and at some point gained the title of judge. still relatively vague and some clues are fairly out of the way but still, a good idea of who he was before frisk fell and flowey fucked around

what we know about papyrus' backstory:

he came from somewhere unknown with green grass, he doesnt like hotland for unknown reasons, he made the battle body a few weeks before frisk fell, flowey took a liking to him for unknown reasons, undyne likely only recently started training him but when she did it was because he waited outside her house all night, he was apparently feeling down for a while before frisk fell and.. what else?

this vague ass tiny idea of what he maybe did like a month before we meet him hardly serves as a backstory. and funny enough this is all i can garner from oh idk THE CHARACTER WITH THE MOST LINES OF DIALOGUE IN THE WHOLE GAME SECOND ONLY TO THE NARRATOR! this is why i lovingly dub paps the king of deflection, as another example lets look at the time someone in the papyrus qna asked what he looked like when he was younger and in response he played dumb to be purposefully stingey about his past and try to show a picture of himself from the day before through a textbox. and its not like he doesnt know what hes doing, hes stubborn not stupid, thats why he vaguely hints at truelab during a phonecall despite moments before pretending he doesnt know what a lab IS, thats why he plays dumb around sans, thats why he seemingly lies to frisk about his knowledge of hotland, thats why he knows how to use reverse psychology well enough to manipulate UNDYNE of all people, and thats why he brushes off sans' time shenanigans as yet another prank across time and space, because he is the king of deflection and we dont know shit about his backstory and neither does anyone ingame, so if he does end up being the knight, he's hidden bigger bombshell secrets before, so why stop now?

reasons i think papyrus isn't the knight:

1. we already have the dreemurrs as holdovers from undertale with important roles in deltarune. it would be kinda weird if we *also* had papyrus in particular as a major character for some reason (i know we have plenty of undertale characters in deltarune, but they're supporting cast at most). i'd just find it odd for deltarune, whose cast of main characters is entirely unique from undertale, to have Papyrus Undertale as its final boss???

2. i just find other theories more fun and interesting... like dess being the knight...

Weird connections between Papyrus and Deltarune

At first I'm gonna point out that Papyrus is the only character from the main cast who didn't show up in Deltarune yet. There are also Asriel and Mettaton (or Happstablook, or Mettacrit, or whatever). And here's the pattern in this.

Mettaton is not really Mettaton in DR. Alphys is not a scientist, she didn't build MTT body. He's completely different.

Asriel didn't die in DR. He's in college now and an adult. He's completely different.

Mtt will go out if we bring something "entertaining" tomorrow.

Asriel will come back from college next week (probably 7 chapter).

They both have established reasons to be a secret and established time to show up.

Papyrus doesn't.

But, eh, whatever. The thing is, Papyrus is probably also completely different. Why else he wouldn't go out? Oh, yea. He's "busy".

Toby said nothing about Asriel and Mtt, so it's save to assume that Pap's absence is very important.

Now less about the facts and more about coincidences (or not).

But it could be just a reference or foreshadowing. Pap did similar thing with Alphys' laboratory and dogs (I am not getting another pic there's already to much). (Btw I didn't find this connection myself, but I can't remember where exactly, sorry! :( )

Edit: I finally found the source (or at least the place where I first heard it). This is an awesome post, but it's very long, so be prepared.

2. Cages

At first Papyrus' "really cool regular attack" was meant to be circus themed (You can read more here).

And there's some similar cages in DR. Even with lions ON them.

But the idea was scrapped for "every reason" (according to Toby). So it's more of an interesting fact than a realistic theory.

Okay so regarding my last post. My very uninteresting stance on The Knight has been “With the level of information we currently have, I don’t really feel too strongly that any one person in particular just HAS to be the knight. Theres a lot of plausible theories but nothing that definitively convinces me and makes me feel very confident in any one particular candidate. I’m not even sure that the Knight is just one person, or that it’s someone we even know right now.”

Boring, I know. HOWEVER.

If you told me I had to make a guess, and that the knight was for sure a character we already know and not someone who has yet to be introduced? Then I’m with the Papyrus Knight truthers all the way.
