oooh I have plenty!! first of all, there's a resentment and underlying disdain – not because of Penelope herself but rather the circumstances that surround their relationship.

Odysseus has been constantly going to Sparta for years and trying to get Icarius to give his daughter's hand in marriage to him, and even at the end it was a contest; a race that Odysseus won rather than an engagement proper.

So Odysseus' entire family is upset about their son's treatment at Sparta (he is precious to them too as Penelope is to her father. they feel that he is being disrespected and treated as lesser despite being a King).

This feeling of upset only worsens when Odysseus and Penelope don't have a child in the first years of their marriage – what was the point of all of their child's struggles in getting this bride if she can't even give him an Heir to secure his line. (period typical attitudes)

they don't outright say anything to her, but the underlying feeling exists in the spaces, and penelope can hear the whispers so she's aware of it.
