2. List 3 shipping tropes you don’t love

Unrequited Love/Unhappy ending. I can't stand unhappy endings 😭 I'm not shipping to have my feelings hurt!

Body Swap: I just find this one a bit icky (although I love Your Name...😅) but normally I'm not into using body swap as a shipping trope.

Love Triangles: I don't even like triads much, but that's much more preferable to love triangle for me. I like drama in a relationship, but only when it's between the two main characters. The third wheeler can piss off 😂.

9. Do you always have romantic ships for fandoms?

I would say more often than not, yes I do, but it really depends on the fandom and how involved I'm in it. Also, I might have an inkling of a feeling like "Oh, they would be good together" but not really care if there is romance in the source material at all. Naruto and Harry Potter (and a little bit of Bleach) are the only fandoms I searched fanfics and fanart of ships for, as an example. But, yeah, I'd say it's pretty natural for me to form some sort of ship when I get into a fandom.

13. List 5 OTPs from past fandoms

Other than Naruto and HP it's a bit hard, but here's what I can think of! Not listed in any order, and I tried to use one ship from a franchise.

Alphonse Elric/Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Alphonse was always my favourite character from the series, and even though the Ed/Win ship was so obvious from the beginning, I liked this one better, probably because I always loved Alphonse and liked Winry more than Mei. Also in the non-canon movie Emperor of Shambala, they have a good about of interactions without Ed around so that always reinforced the ship for me.

2. Kumiko Yamaguchi/Shin Sawada (Gokusen)

Gokusen is my all time favourite manga and this is the canon ship in it (although it's not a romance fic and it all happens near the end/in the epilogue/special chapters). Kumiko is the grand daughter of a Yakuza boss and decides to become a high school teacher, and Shin is her surly student. Shin is always supporting her when she needs help the most and even though the romance isn't really a focus of the manga, what's there is great.

3. Byakuya Kuchiki/Yoruichi Shihouin (Bleach)

I never thought about this pairing until Turn Back the Pendulum, but seeing such a petulant version of Byakuya and how Yoruichi knows just how to rile him up made me instantly like the idea of this.

4. Zuko/Katara (Avatar the Last Air Bender)

Zuko is my favourite character from the series, loved his growth, and I also liked how bull-headed and stubborn Katara could be at times. Just thought they fit well together.

5. Yusuke Urameshi/Keiko Yukimura (Yu Yu Hakusho)

I can't think of anything to say, it's been a long time since I've seen the series, but I love them all them same!

So I was wondering, what is your take on Resplendent Gaius?

Y'know, Gaius is an interesting one because I wouldn't say that Muspell is the best pick for a slender thief, but, y'know, it's Argon. Who ALWAYS manages to make it work... even if I don't like their design choice for Resplendent Owain.

Okay so shockingly... The incorporation is not bad at all. As much as I like Suekane Kumiko's work with Niles, I actually think Gaius pulled it off better. Gaius is armored up decently here with a chestplate, arm guards, and shin guards. His cape is very vibrant and looks like lit embers; same with the ends of his headband. And to top it off, a nice ring of feathers around his collar. A really well put-together outfit; Gaius actually looks like a Muspell thief.

You know, I think I can actually get behind Muspell being picked for Gaius specifically, even if I think the theme itself simply doesn't fit his class and body type. Gaius was hired by Plegia to execute Emmeryn, I could see him in a similar situation being hired to assassinate a Nifl royal, but refusing to do so.

Gaius is a solid 9/10. I simply can't go full 10/10 because again, I think Muspell works better on bulkier characters (Or physically agile women, like Minerva's Resplendent), but it's still visually on point.

In Knights and Pawns, what does Daniel think upon meeting Terry that first time, is there something in that meeting that makes him think about it over and over again when he's by himself later on that day? Is there a...spark? Are there moments Daniel finds himself thinking of the Alpha he encountered, and how he called him the Anglicized Daniel, and not his birth name?

Does Daniel suspect what his father's up to? And if he does, or his father kinda hints at it later on that day, does he think Terry will be a good Alpha for him?

Because that's what an Omega like Daniel wants instinctively right, to be taken care of and cuddled. Protected and well, loved. It's in his nature, from my understanding, no matter how sassy or mouthy he is. Just like how Terry, as an Alpha, would want to take care of, and protect, etc.

And--last question--since Daniel had a cute thing with Kumiko, and she was his first love, would Terry be pissed if he found out? Jealous? Or amused? Or maybe just scoff since Daniel was so young, and Kumiko another Omega?

Sorry for keeping you waiting answering this beautiful ask, Nonnie. I've written something that I hope may answer some of your questions!

Before I post that, though, and because it doesn't come up at all in the rest of this: no, Terry would not be jealous of Kumiko; but neither would he take that love completely seriously. To Alphas, young omegas in love are a sort of a test round for the 'real' bond. But because this is Daniel, I think the bond went quite a bit deeper than anyone realises. It simply couldn't be, Kumiko has been bethrothed forever, but is expected to have a career as a dancer before she ties the knot. Dance is one career path omegas are specifically trained for because, well, they're stunning, and even moreso on stage.

Under the cut is Daniel's reaction, a few hours after meeting Terry.

His brother Michael, as you can probably guess, is heavily based on Al Pacino's Michael Corleone, albeit a younger version.

And so...

Daniel keeps kicking the ball against the wall, rhythmically, as hard as he can, only to kick it again, and the pain in his shins as it bounces back echoes the sharpness of his thoughts, no,no, NOT FAIR.

“Pop wants to see you.”

He turns around, sweaty and petulant, to see his brother Michael, standing about five feet away, his head cocked, lips curled in a slight smile.

“I don't want to see him.”

“That's a first.”

He gives the ball another hard kick, so it ricochets right at Michael. He's anticipated the shot, though, stepped aside. “How like Louie.”

“So what?”

Michael frowns. “You shouldn't be so obvious, Daniele.”

He rolls his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, I've heard it. Sit quiet, look pretty -”

“Perhaps this once, you should.”

He crosses his arms. “What's it to you? You're not being sold to a -”

“Daniele, stop talking.”

There's something about Michael that has never sat right with Daniel. Few people see it, as they're always focused on Louie and Ness. But there's a coldness behind his eyes, a calculating look that could mean anything from a plan to steal baseball cards to a perfect murder. If Michael had not kept him safe more than once, when Louie and Ness were brawling, he'd be scared of him.

Michael puts his arm around him. “You need to keep your feelings to yourself this time, ok?” He ruffles his head. “It's bad for business.”

“I don't want to be in business!”

“And now the whole world knows.”

“I don't care!” There's tears in his eyes. “I don't want this, I -”

And now Michael again wears that exasperated look. “Daniel, you've been in business since the first time Pop had you bring in drinks.”

“That's different.”

“How? You had a job, and you did it. Same as now. C'mon.” He herds him back inside the house, but Daniel stands firm. “I won't do it! First Kumiko, now this...”

“Ragazzi!” They both spin around, even if Pop doesn't sound at all perturbed. “Calmate, I can't hear myself think.”

“Sorry.” Daniel looks at the floor, if only to avoid seeing Michael's exasperated shrug.

“Miguele, go finish that essay, hm?” He squeezes Michael's shoulder. “Daniele and I have some business to discuss.”

“Thanks, Pop,” Michael says, before duly departing.

Daniel sticks out his tongue. Michael's such a suckup.

Don LaRusso laughs. “Come in then, Daniele.”

He's in that room for the second time that day, only now his whole world has tilted. He glances to where the strange Alpha sat. “Pop, why...”

His father's hand is on his face. “Daniele, I wanted to apologize.”

He looks up, feels his shoulders drop. “I know I put you on the spot today,” Don LaRusso goes on. “That wasn't my intention.”

He swallows. “So I don't have to -”

“That's not been decided.”

He takes a step back. “Pop...”

“Come, sit with me.” He leads them to the leather sofa, lets Daniel curl up at his side like he always has. “Che bello, Daniele.”

He laps up the praise like a cat does cream, again in the safest place on earth. Dad kisses his crown. “You know that I would never give you up for petty reasons.”

He looks up. “Pop, it's not that I don't trust you...”

“Would that others had trusted me, Daniele. But they had to test my strength. Santoro. Rizzi. Gambini. Too many gone, per Dio.”

He used to play with the Rizzi's son, Giuseppe. Still. “And this Alpha, Silver?”

“I don't know enough about him to make a decision.” The Don sits up. “But I must ask you not to oppose me, caro.”

“I didn't –”

“You did.”

He feels his cheeks burn. “But you promised – ”

“It is a hard day when a father must ask his son for help, Daniele.”

A last try. “But I don't even know him!”

“Then how would you know he wouldn't suit you, hmm?” His father smiles. “He seemed impressed with you.”

He bites his lip. “He was rude.”

A beat. “So were you, Daniel.”

He cringes together. “Shock,” he mumbles. In school, that got them out of anything. Everybody thought that omegas got frightened by their own shadow.

“That's what I said.” Pop pinches his cheek. “But I can't keep making excuses for you everytime.”

He fixes his father. “Suppose he doesn't like me?”

He doesn't know if it is a hope or a fear.

“Tesoro.” His father's gaze is stone cold. “Let's hope to God he does.”

Yamaguchi Kumiko or would that be Sawada Kumiko?

Shinkumi 20 years later.... She's still a school teacher who's known to specialise in troubled kids, most schools want her to deal with their 'problems'. Since it's unofficially known by now that she's related to the Yakuza though no one's really sure whether those rumours of being an actual Yakuza wife are true, it's known that she does not back down even in the face of the richest parents with hopeless teenaged kids.

All those spoilt brats who go around getting into trouble and their parents backing their bad and destructive behaviour? Yankumi walks in like those parents are nothing. And those rich people know they can't lay a finger on her. What would her kumi do? What would her HUSBAND do? They are not really clear whether she has a gangster husband or how she's connected to Japan's most powerful Yakuza kumi but dang... if shit goes south for Yankumi or 'her students' then Odeo clan shows its hand in subtle yet terrible ways.

By now, Kumiko has dropped her overly girly act but retains her sunshine and optimistic self. Many of her troubled students have actually gone on to have gainful lives. Sure, a lot of them aren't successful like the way society deems success. Yet, they're all mature adults and human in ways more successful people struggle to achieve.

In times when she has to absolutely step up as the Yakuza Boss Lady, she switches seamlessly. She's still feared because a lot of her students have had runs with various kumis and they know those unruly brats are under protection.

Sawada Shin blends into Japan's underworld like he's been born to the life. He's modernised their business approaches, cleaned up many of their operations into legitimate ones. Of course, he's been to the obligatory prison route in place of one of his subordinates, which makes him a legend and an idol to follow for the youngsters. Kumiko is still upset but she does understand why he does some things.

Oh... And all the times he's had to go for PTA meetings? He's dressed up like the obligatory middle class worker drone, which only makes him fodder for comedy nights at home. Not one single teacher at his kids' schools believes his disguise. Not with that red hair and definitely not with those eyes that go from benign to deadly in a heartbeat. That's when Kumiko decides she'll be the one to go for those PTA meetings. The kids prefer Dad to come along because he'll cow every teacher who dares complain but Oya-san would actually listen to their teachers and read between the lines.
