best friend kuroo who you met in class when you started high school.
best friend kuroo who you got closer to when he helped you clean up the glass from the beaker you had dropped during chemistry class.
best friend kuroo who insisted on taking you to the nurse after you stepped on glass that went through your shoe.
best friend kuroo who skipped practice that day so he could walk you home safely.
best friend kuroo who offered to take you home every day until you recovered so long as you were fine with waiting for him to finish practice.
best friend kuroo who you continued going to practice with because you were actually intrigued by volleyball.
best friend kuroo who helped you talk to coach nekomata because you brought up wanting to be manager but were to scared to ask. it took a lot of persuading but coach agreed. you now see kuroo everyday.
best friend kuroowho introduced you to kenma during your second year. kenma wasn't good with new people by any means but he saw that you were important to kuroo so he dealt with it. he eventually listened to you more than he would listen to kenma.
best friend kuroo who had so many nicknames for you that anytime he said something weird you would just assume he was talking to you.
best friend kuroo who attended a different college than you but still made arrangements to come see you whenever he had the chance to.
best friend kuroo who always made sure you ate healthily and would go grocery shopping with you every so often so he could teach you about balanced diets. also because you hated vegetables.
best friend kuroo who nearly asked you to dye his hair after he got a B on his final exam. he said he needed a new identity. you didnt dye it.
best friend kuroo who took you to a party at his school one time and lost you then had to yell at the top of his lungs so everyone would shut up.
best friend kuroo who threw you over his shoulder when he finally found you.
best friend kuroo who took you back to his dorm after because he figured parties just weren't for you.
best friend kuroo who you stayed with during your spring break because you knew you were going to be bored at home.
best friend kuroo who you made stay up all night watching horror movies.
best friend kuroo who was terrified and wanted to go get ready for bed so he could forget all of that happened.
best friend kuroo who realized his feelings for you when you did your skincare routine on him because he was judging you for taking so long to do it on yourself.
best friend kuroo who decided you looked cute with your green face mask on so he leaned in to kiss you.
best friend kuroo who was worried he fucked up when you pushed him away before he could kiss you but you only did that because you didn't want the face masks to get smudged since you applied it so perfectly.
best friend kuroo who waited a whole 15 minutes to kiss you in silence but as soon as you both took them off you lunged at him to kiss him saying "it took you long enough"
best friend kuroo who is now boyfriend kuroo who transferred to the same college as you with the excuse being that he is now addicted to skin care but needs your help.

First Date Headcanons
Characters: Kuroo, Kenma, Bokuto, Akaashi, Oikawa, Iwaizumi
Tumblr media
Kuroo:
A first date with Kuroo would probably consist of either a walk in the park or a movie
Maybe even both depending on the situation
I feel like he'd definitely be insistent that he pay if you two were to go get food
Or even if you just found a little trinket you like
I also think he'd be the type to walk you home and drop you off, and he might even be interested in a second date depending on if things went well
Kenma:
Kenma very obviously prefers low-activity, indoor sorts of things
That being said, I feel like to even get him to ask you out (if that's what happened), you two would have to be friends beforehand
I think the actual date part would consist of playing video games with him or something of that nature
And if video games aren't your thing, he'd offer to teach you how to play. But if you don't want to do that, either, he'd just have you watch
Either that or he'd put on a movie for the two of you
Bokuto:
For me, your first ever date with Bokuto is split between a casual movie date or something more energetic
I feel like he'd definitely be the type to take you out to a playground, and for some reason the kids there absolutely love him
The two of you would also probably grab some ice cream or something along those lines as the very last activity
Either way, it would definitely be a fun-filled date
Akaashi:
This feels so stereotypical, but I have a gut feeling that Akaashi would take you to a book store for your first date
You don't even have to buy anything, since he's mainly there to look around and get to know you
He'd follow it up by stopping at a local café for something to eat as his initial anxiety starts to fade away
To him, the first date is less about having fun as much as it is getting to know each other since he wants to make sure the two of you would be a good match
He's very sweet the whole time, though, and makes sure to take note of what makes you happy, sad, uncomfortable, etc.
Much like Kuroo, he's another one to walk you back home.
But i feel like instead of asking flat out, he'd send a follow up text to see if you'd be interested in going out again
Oikawa:
Oikawa's idea of a good first date is something fun, yet laidback
That being said, the two of you would probably meet up somewhere before heading to get something to eat
Afterwards, he'll start to actually try and get to know you
During this process, I feel like he'd either take you to something volleyball related, or to a cinema to see a movie
At first, I don't think he'd consider the date anything more than casual, but if he finds himself actually taking an interest in you, he'd try to show that a little more in hopes for a second date, and maybe even a third
Iwaizumi:
Unlike Oikawa, Iwaizumi would actually take your first date seriously, since I see him as the type of guy who dates to marry, or at the least be with someone for a while
He'd probably be decently nervous, but wouldn't show it, of course
I see him as a trampoline park on the first date type of guy, or if that's not really your thing, you could do something different
However, he'd prefer something activity based since-especially in the time skip-he seems like a fitness guy who doesn't really enjoy sitting around
The entire time, he definitely makes sure to be respectful of you and your interests, but also tries to make things as fun as possible for both of you
And again, he's the type of guy to walk you back to your place. He'd probably wait a day or two to ask you out again, though, since he wants to take time to process and think about how the date went and how he felt during it

Thanks for reading! I apologize for any spelling/grammar mistakes, and hope you have a great rest of your day/night!

kuroo testurō, who usually buries his head between two pillows while he sleeps, no longer does that thanks to you. he sleeps with his arms curled around your body, his face buried in the crook of your neck. while you’d often complain about how confining his muscular arms are and his hair tickling you, you can’t help but notice that compared to when he was a child, he sleeps much better. maybe the discomfort is worth turning and seeing his soft sleepy smile and hearing a tiny, “good morning, kitten.”

----------------
The warm summer air heated your body up as you sat on your porch swing, watching the bright sunlight beam down on your lawn. The soft breeze made it seemed like the grass was flowing in waves, it was a beautiful sight.
Though, that peace was short lived as a volleyball came crashing down into your line of sight.
"Oop- Sorry, Y/n-chan!"
Looking up with a pout forming, you watched as the boy next door waved and ran over to your yard. His jet black hair was as unkempt as ever and his eyes shined like a sneaky cats as his looked up at you from his spot on the sidewalk.
"Can you get me the ball, please?" He asked, pointing at the ball that rolled towards your seat. "I don't want to be rude by stepping into your freshly mowed lawn."
"Kuroo, don't be an idiot, come get it." You said, rocking back and forth on the porch swing.
The boy sighed, shaking his head and chuckling to himself before looking back up at you and smiling. He took in your tired expression and ran over to retrieve the ball, though he ran past it and headed towards the porch.
Running up the stairs and standing in front of you, his white T sticking to his chest thanks to the sweat that had collected. You had no doubt in your mind that his knees and pits were both stuck to his shirt and jeans after running around in such an outfit.
Who in the world would wear a camo jacket over your shirt in the summer?
"Why can't you be nice to me?" Kuroo asked, hands on his hips like he had just ran a mile. "It's the last day of summer before school."
"Well, I'm taking the day in to relax," You said, continuing to rock in the swing and smiling up at Kuroo smugly.
"So, if you don't mind, I'd rather stay nice and relaxed. Today's a good day and I plan on getting myself some treats at the store down the street tomorrow morning."
"Awe, can I come?" Sitting next to you, Kuroo plopped down in the empty space next to you and leaned against the seat.
Pressing his heels into the cracks of your porch, he pushed against his feet and started swinging the seat for you both. Making you pout more and just rest your cheek against your fist, placing your elbow on the swing's armrest.
"I don't care, my mother might make me take you anyway."
"Oh, that's right. Can't have mommy's little girl running off with some boys, right?"
Slapping Kuroo's arm, he let out a laugh, his eyes shut tight and cheeks a light tint of pink. "Ow, Y/n!"
"That's what you get, ass." You retorted, a snort leaving you as you returned your gaze back to the small flowers that littered your flowerbeds.
Some lilies and daisies had managed to bloom this year, but you were really dying for your roses to grow. You and Kuroo had planted them a year before, thanks to Kuroo's grandmother, and said he wanted them to grow so he could pick one and give it to a girl he might fall for this year.
This year is our last one too..
"Hey, Ro?" You piped, turning your attention away from the rose bushes and towards the street. "What're you going to do after school?"
"After school? Whew, uh.."
It took a second, but Kuroo nodded and sat up a little. "I want to go to college. Maybe get a degree in Biology or Science; become a physicist?"
You looked over at him, his hand coming up to scratch his neck as you did and shrugged.
"Or stay with my thing in volleyball and go regional and play for the whole of Japan; hell, become a coach. I don't really know, but I want to do something with my life that doesn't make me need to rely on anyone."
Smiling, you reached over and gave his arm a light punch. "What? You asked."
"I know, I just didn't expect you to get all cheesy on me, dork," You giggled, teasing Kuroo to no end until your mother came out to announce dinner.
"Y/n, dear, dinner's going to be done a little early, okay?" She started, spotting Kuroo next to you and smiling sweetly.
"Oh, Kuroo! It's lovely to see you again, darling!"
"It's nice to see you too, Ms. Kozume." Kuroo responded, standing and patting his hands on his jeans. A smile adorned his kind face and he leaned against the railing.
"I just came by to get my ball, but started getting all philosophical with your daughter, ma'am."
"Oh shut up, Ro." You said, standing up too and dusting off the back of your summer dress. "You were the one being all fancy when I asked."
"It's not fancy, it's honest." Kuroo smirked, that shit eating grin wide and proud knowing you weren't going to smack him while your mother was watching.
"Tell your grandma I said hi, okay?"
Kuroo nodded, turning his attention away from you and to your guardian again. "Yes, ma'am. Have a nice day; cya later, chibi-chan!"
"Don't call me that!" You bickered, desperate to toss your newest book at Kuroo. "Goodbye, fat head!"
Kuroo's laughter rang down the sidewalk as he left with his volleyball, heading to his house with his grandma for dinner and waving at you. You waved, reluctantly, but smiled all the same as you entered your house and helped your mom with food preperations.
That's how life has been with your best friend next door. A lot of the time, you'd always wonder what would've changed in your life if Kuroo never moved in and became fast friends with Kenma and you. Your younger brother, Kenma, never really understood the reasoning behind hanging out with the neighbor kid, but you pushed him too.
You liked being around Kuroo and only he was allowed to bring him over after school for play dates.
Kuroo enjoyed his time with you too; sometimes going to your room and talking to you about school and things he had learned in class. Thanks to Kuroo, you also learned a lot more than what you normally did, but he made it fun.
Taught you about planets and stars, even flowers which had become one of your past times.
And your mother also loved him, thought he was a really good kid and was alright with you hanging around him after middle school ended and you both entered your first year together.
"So, do you want to head in with me to enroll at Nekoma?" Your mother asked, handing you some tuna to mash into the onigiri.
"Uhm, I was going to hang out with Kuroo tomorrow, if that's okay."
Your mother nodded, sending you off to get your brother and smiled. Knocking on the door, you pushed it open and scoffed, seeing his eyes glued to the gamer's screen like a gremiln.
"Oi, mom said it's time for dinner." You said, leaning against the door's frame.
"In a minute, I'm about to beat the level." Kenma responded, biting his lip at looking at the screen intensely.
Are you for real? "Dude, mom's going to get mad at you."
Kenma rolled his eyes, pausing his game and standing up to stretch. He never really liked it when his mother got upset, which you had learned to used against him every now and then.
Sure it was a little mean, but it was one of the only ways to get him off of the console. And you weren't really in the mood to tackle him.
"Let's go, wash your hands." You said, heading to the kitchen as your twin went to the bathroom to wash up.
Plating your dinner, you and your mother got ready to eat as your twin came in and fixed his hair up into a small bun, your mother smiling warmly at this and giving him a small pat on the head.
"Both of you look so grown up," She cooed, giving thanks for the meal and handing you each a plate. "Eat up, there's plenty to go around."
After dinner, you were both sent to your shared room and hung out for an hour or two before your mother came in and called for lights out. Though you knew better, and waited until she closed the door for you to look over and see your brother climbing out of bed to play his games.
"Dude, you have school in less than a week," You started, stopping short the moment you heard your phone go off.
"Looks like your boyfriend wants to talk to you~" Kenma teased, seeing Kuroo's name pictured on your screen.
"Shut up, or I'm snitching to mom."
Kenma shrugged, before grabbing his neko neko headset and turning on the neon lights that beamed a bright pink and placed them on his pudding-themed head. He turned on the console once his headphones were plugged into the monitor and started his level, groaning when he noticed that the progress wasn't saved
Quickly grabbing your phone, you lowered the screen's brightness and chuckled; Kuroo had sent you some goofy smiling gif of a cat with the underlining text:
Can't wait to see if you're going to be in my class this year. Last year was a little lonely having you down the hall (>D<)
Sighing, you rolled your eyes and sent him a text before placing your phone face down on your nightstand and heading off to sleep. Your phone buzzing as you continued to slumber, and being ignored by Kenma, as Kuroo sent a final text.
You; 10:49 pm
You- Go to sleep, I'll meet you at the corner a block from the store, okay? Gn ^(>...<)^
Kuroo- Okay, goodnight,Y/n. [deleted] <3
Kuroo- Lmao, okay okay good night *(.'_'.)*

When they say they don’t want a baby and your secretly pregnant. (Kuroo)

Kuroo
You and Kuroo have been married for around 5 years now.
Your relationship was fine, but you were nearing your 30’s and according to your mother your “biological clock was clicking,”
You’ve talked about having babies, you even tried for one a few years ago but things didn’t go plan.
It wasn’t like babies, weren’t completely off the table...well that’s what you thought.
You and Kuroo, were at another one of his business conferences. You both hated them, but since it was an obligation for him to go why not bring his wife to stand with him through the continuous amount of boring conversations.
Mr Sato, Kuroo’s boss, was talking to you both about something. Well, he was mainly talking to Kuroo, since you were off daydreaming but you were immediately snapped out of your thoughts when you heard Mr Sato ask “So Kuroo, when are you and Y/N going to have your own family of yours,?” you and Kuroo both looked at each other, and Kuroo eyes kind of shifted in awkwardness for a slight second before reverting to the ‘calm and collected’ Kuroo, putting on his best smile and answering his boss back with, “Oh me and Y/N have decided that kids just aren’t for us.”
You didn’t look at him for the rest of the night, since you knew if you did you’d end up crying, “me and Y/N have decided that kids just aren’t for us” what’s that even supposed to mean? You knew that you definitely wanted kids, so for him to say that it only means that he doesn’t want them. Right?
By the time you got home, you were even quieter than before and Kuroo didn’t notice – being that he was a bit tipsy from all the drinks he drank. You went into the bathroom to remove your make-up and to cry and when you opened your bathroom cabinet to get a make up wipe you saw your box of pregnancy tests.
You haven’t used those in a while, as you and Kuroo stopped trying ages ago...but it wouldn’t hurt to harmlessly take one. Especially now that you know, according to Kuroo babies are off the table. Taking the test out of the box, you went to quickly lock the bathroom door not wanting Kuroo to possibly see what you were doing.
You finished taking off your makeup, after you taken the test waiting for the results to arrive and after the counting of 120 seconds went down to 0 in your head you hesistantly picked up the test with your eyes closed and when you peaked the open you gasped and stepped back, your eyes widening as the test read.
POSITIVE
You rushed back to the box and saw two more tests left and you obviously have to take them now, just to make sure right and it not being a false positive. But before you could use the next test, you heard the door knob jiggly and a slurred talking Kuroo yell “Y/N, what are you doing in there”
“Oh nothing Tetsu, just doing my make up I’ll be in bed in just a second” you call back and you heard him murmmur an okay and his footsteps pad off into your bedroom. You knew that you couldn’t take the test now, with Kuroo expecting you in bed so you shoved the test back where you found them and followed Kuroo into bed.
You definitely couldn’t sleep that night, having short dreams of you actually being pregnant and Kuroo denying you and the baby or worse making you choose between him and the baby or there being no baby at all.
When you woke up, Kuroo was already dressed in his work attire and he looked like he was ready to go. He noticed you were awake, said “good morning beautiful,” and came towards you aiming to plant a kiss on your lips but when you to turned your face it landed on your cheek. Kuroo looked at you a bit oddly but you whispered “morning breath,” as your excused which he thought was odd since that’s never bothered you before but he didn’t comment on it just said “Well I'm off now, you haven’t got anything planned today have you?”
“No just lounging around the house I guess,” which was a lie, since you were already planning on shooting off to the doctors to see if you were actually pregnant or not, but of course you couldn’t tell him that.
“Oh okay, well have fun babes I’ll be home around 6pm and I’ll bring back dinner for us” he went to go kiss you on the cheek again and headed for the door yelling a big “bye” as he left.
Later in the day, you were at the doctors and after doing all the usual checks aund test turns out you were officially with child. 12 weeks to be exact, the doctor even gave you a picture of your little bean and you burst out into tears.
You left the hospital elated, until you remembered Kuroo doesn’t want a baby with you. You put your hand on your stomach instictively, already feeling protective over your newfound bean you’ve always wanted a child and after looking at the baby in the sonogram pictures you were already in love. So, you knew once you tell Kuroo whatever his response may be you were already choosing this baby over him.
When you got home you see, that Kuroo’s car was already outside which was odd since when you checked the time it only read 4pm and you remembered him telling you he’d be back around 6-7pm. Opening the door, you felt yourself being attacked with a hug as your face flattened against the broad chest to which you know that belongs to your husbands.
“Tetsu...?” you said confused as to why he was home so early and why he was giving you a suffocating hug.
“Y/N, are you okay?” he said looking up and down for you and checking for any sign of injury.
“I'm, fine why wouldn’t I be” you said, trying not to seem suspicious as you put on a smile on your face.
“But one of my employees, you know Alisa, right? She said, that she saw you at the hospital earlier so I thought there must've been something wrong.”
“Oh no, I felt a big sick early so I thought why not go to the doctors for a little checkup” you saying lying straight to his face “but im fine now, as you can see.”
Kuroo nodded, and let you take your coat, shoes and bag off before you went into the kitchen to start on dinner.
Later on, you’ve finished up with dinner and you were making up yours and Kuroos plate but you stopped when you heard him call “Y/N, have you seen my charger? Can’t seem to find it.”
“Oh it’s in my bag, took it with me earlier” you didn’t really take any notice of what he asked until you paused and realised where you told him to go. You rushed to the living room where you left your bag, trying to stop Kuroo before he goes in there yelling “Kuroo wait, sto-”
But you were too late. Kuroo was standing there with the sonogram picture in his hand facing you looking confused, “you’re pregnant,” he said more like a statement then an actual question. You didn’t respond, so he looked down at the picture and looked back up you and said again “you’re pregnant, arent you?”
He stepped towards you and you instinctively put your hand on your stomach saying “I’m not getting rid of it.” This confused Kuroo even further, “Wha-why didn’t you tell me..?”
“I only found out today..” you said quietly in return
“So that’s where you went I knew you didn’t have a stomach bug, why did you lie?”
“Cause I knew you’d act like this!” you respond
“Like what? Confused on why my wife thinks that hiding that shes pregnant is in her best interests?”
“Is it in my best interest, cause I know Kuroo,” you say your voice faltering.
“Know what?”
“Know that you don’t want kids! I heard you at that stupid business party, talking to your boss how you said ‘oh me and y/n don’t want kids,’” you spat “do you really not want a baby with me?”
“I do, I do of course I do” he said rushing towards you “I only said that to Mr Sato because, I wanted to end the conversation of course I want a baby with you.”
You started crying, and Kuroo felt terrible he realised how his words must’ve come off towards you and he’s kicking himself for it. “I didn’t mean to keep it from you, I was going to tell you but I tho-”
“It’s okay Y/N,” he said giving you a kiss on the forehead “I would never want you to choose between me and our baby of course not, and I’m truly sorry for making you think I would.”
“It’s fine, maybe I was being too irrational in not asking you first it’s just that last night when I took a test and it said positive and hearing what you said I just assumed you wouldn’t want a baby...if there actually was one and when the doctor told me I was pregnant all I could think about is whether you’d want me to keep it or not...” you say crying again.
Kuroo pulled you into his chest more, and held the sonogram in front of you and you felt his heart beating extra hard at the sight, ”our baby is going to be beautiful” he said which you nooded in agreement.
“Y/N, I just want to let you know that I'd never ever want to give you and this baby up, I've only known about it for 12 minutes and im ready to dedicate my life to it. To both of you.”
And Kuroo did just that, your son *insert random kid name* was literally a Kuroo reincarnate, he was smart and tall just like his father and was loud and energectic. When he was born, Kuroo was really in ‘dad mode,’ and him and your son were two peas in pod.

you and tetsuro were inseparable, so joined at the hip to the point where nothing could break this strong relationship you both had grown to have. it was wonderful to say the least, the most beautiful thing that has bloomed in the timeline of both of your lives.
you've been with him ever since your third year at nekoma, your cliche story beginning when the black haired male accidentally dropped your lunch tray while bumping into you, you could still vividly remember the apologetic look on his face while insisting to buy you another one.
you became official when you both were eighteen, a little after your first meeting incident, making you a couple for a solid nine years, with you both hitting the age of 27 this year.
you didn't have any children, you both were too eaten up with work to bring another human into life. you both settled on the idea that it would be selfish, not being able to parent your own child because you were too busy at work.
so you both just decided to adopt a little calico cat named 'patch', the little furball that has been roaming your shared duplex apartment for the past two years.
today was his birthday, and without a doubt, you decided to throw him a party. he needed to cool off, work was piling up and the male was not taking breaks even with you trying to convince him every now and then.
that was your goal for today, to celebrate his birthday. and to do that, you had crafted a small plan.
it was now six in the afternoon, there was less than an hour until sunset and you had just gotten back from work and a mini shopping spree to be able to set up the surprise. you sighed as you kicked off your shoes at the door, plopping down your bags that contained the décor while still holding onto the cake, walking into your shared apartment as you heaved a sigh.
it wasn't that you hated your job, it's the total opposite, you got to do what you loved most! but the working hours of this job were hell, they had you working from eight in the morning to four in the afternoon, which was alright, it was like a standard nine to five. but they always had you in, making you work overtime without proper reasons.
they were well paying, which was why you hadn't left yet, but the horrible timings and the overtime overlapped with the free times of your husband's schedule, making you busy whenever he was free and vice versa.
though, that still didn't affect your love for each other. in fact, it made him and you cherish the time you both spent together even more, hoping one day that you'll have good work hours and be able to spend even more time with each other.
tetsuro would be home at around eleven that night, he sent you a message apologizing and saying his boss had sent him out for meetings when he was supposed to get off. you only responded with your usual text, 'it's alright baby, i'll leave your food in the oven and crash. stay safe, love you.'
of course, you weren't mad, just disappointed that his boss couldn't respect the occasion and the fact that he had a wife to come home to. but at the same time, you kept your message subtle, not wanting to give away that you're planning something for him.
your phone dinged immediately a second after you had pressed the send button, your husband responding with 'you're going to bed? i thought we were going to do something.'
you felt a pang of guilt go through your chest, but you decided to act oblivious. 'something? like what? i don't think you planned any date for today.'
and with that, you put your phone down while taking in a deep breath, who knew lying about not remembering your lover's birthday would be this hard.
it's alright, you thought to yourself as you made your way to the kitchen, petting your cat before placing the cake in the fridge. you had already planned how you wanted the house to look like upon his arrival.
balloons colored black and red scattered around the floor, a black banner placed against the wall with the words 'happy 27th birthday' written on it in gold, you had also brought red party hats, thinking it would be funny.
and with that decided, you got to work.
ₒ 𐐪𐑂 ♡ 𐐪𐑂 °
you've been at it for three hours now, sweat was already dripping down your face as you struggled to blow and fill up multiple balloons, hanged the banner multiple times cause it kept slipping down the wall since the tape wasnt strong enough, and when you were done, you had realized the time.
it was already ten, giving you only an hour to shower and get ready before your lover would be home. you couldn't help but feel excited, wondering how he would react to your well prepared surprise.
you cleaned up after yourself, picking up unblown balloons and putting them back inside the bag they came in, picking up extra pieces of tape that were lying around, and putting the scissors back in their spot.
you then proceeded to shower, wondering if you had enough time to get dressed before tetsuro would let himself in and miss out on you surprising him.
you washed away all your worries under the warm water, relaxing your tense and sore muscles before quickly hopping out of the shower and drying yourself.
you walked towards the clothes you had laid out before your shower, throwing your used towel in the laundry basket. you had set out something fancy yet simple, something that would would make you look properly dressed for this event.
you got dressed, styled your hair and applied perfume and flattened out your clothes with the smooth run of your hand in front of the mirror.
" i really do hope you keep your word of coming home at eleven, tetsuro. " you mumbled to yourself in a low voice before turning around and walking towards your living room, glancing at the clock on the wall on your way out.
once you had reached the living room, you had decided to bring out the cake, given it was ten minutes till eleven. so that's exactly what you did, the cold plate that it was sitting on stinging your hand as you made your way to the dining table and set it down alongside a lighter.
you quickly glanced at the door, thinking that you heard the elevator ding.
shit shit shit shit, you cursed, running towards the door and closing the light that showed the display.
you could feel your heartbeat in your ears, your hands shaking slightly as a smile spread on your face while you waited for the door to unlock.
and it did, revealing your handsome husband who looked,
angry?
even in the dark, you could see it so clearly. his jaw was clenched tightly, his eyebrows furrowed while a frown was etched onto his face.
you could feel his unusual strong and irritated gaze, which was normally soft and filled with love, lay on you.
you gulped, brushing it off as your eyebrows clashed into each other, your smile still wide. " tetsuro, you're ho— "
" you said you would be asleep. " you were cut off by a cold tone, words slapping you in the face instead of your usual cheek kiss.
your eyes widened as he slammed the door behind him, dropping his bag onto the floor and tossing his keys onto the door side table. you couldn't help but feel pained, " yeah, but i'm awake now. "
you could feel him stare you down in the barely lit doorway, " so you could sneak out of the house? pretend to be asleep so you could sneak off to other men? " he accused, his voice laced with anger and frustration.
you were shocked, to say the least. you were getting accused of cheating by your own husband, the person who you promised to love forever and ever.
" tetsuro what the fuck are you talking about? " you talked back, your face heart clenching in pain as he sighed irritantly. " firstly, you're never home when i'm back. secondly, you always seem to forget important dates, why's that y/n? something or someone else on your mind? "
you could feel a lump forming in your throat as your eyes started to water, the barely visible outline of kuroo starting to blur. " tetsuro what are you saying? i would never cheat on you. " you stated calmly, not wanting to escalate the argument and trying to stay strong even though the accusations were shooting through you like bullets.
" then why are you dressed oh-so-fancily, standing at the door at eleven? riddle me that babe. " he sounded so sarcastic, his tone coming off as something you couldn't recognize.
you scanned his face that was hardly visible for any type of reaction or feelings, desperation.
you smiled bitterly as you turned your body around, your arms slumping down onto your sides as you sighed in defeat.
" where are you going? we're talking, y/n. " your husband spat as he trailed behind you.
you lifted your hand towards the wall, flicking the light on and revealing the celebration you had poured hours of effort and love into.
turning your head over your shoulder to look at kuroo, you gave him a sweet smile as you couldn't help but let a single tear roll down your cheek as you faced him.
" happy birthday, tetsuro. " you spoke in a low voice, still quite loud enough for him to hear what you were saying.
pang, that's what shot tetsuro in the heart.
he couldn't help but feel guilty, so guilty he started tearing up at the scene in front of him.
he couldn't believe it, you came home tired from work yet worked so hard to prepare a special celebration for him. he couldn't help but feel his heart tear into millions of pieces as he watched the tear slip down your face, his own eyes watering as his expression fell into a much softer one.
he opened his mouth to speak, nothing coming out as his eyes explored the entire scene laid out in front of him. he tried again, mustering up the courage to speak. " y/n, i'm so sorry. " was all he could say, his voice coming out shaky and weak.
you averted your eyes as you turned your back to him, turning on your heels as you walked away and towards the guest room.
tetsuro was right on your heels, his arms reaching out towards you as he chanted the word 'sorry' over and over again.
he finally caught up to you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he pulled you flush to his chest, burying his head into your hair. " y/n, i'm so sorry. i should've never accused you of something like that, please forgive me. work's driving me crazy and i've just been so exhausted that i accidentally lashed out at you. " he let out, his voice breaking with each word that slipped out of his mouth, tears falling down his face and onto the top of your head as he couldn't help but hold you so tight.
he couldn't help but break down, everything was falling apart. his job was stressing him out so much to the point where he felt like he would choke whenever he walked into the office, his sleep deprivation getting the best of him and now his marriage was on the verge of tipping.
you sighed, your chest panging in pain as you listened to tetsuro speak in such a weak voice, you've never seen him like this before.
" i'm sorry, i'm so so sorry y/n. please don't leave me, i'll never ever open my mouth in that way ever again. i'm so sorry please don't walk out on me, i promise i'll be better. i swear i'll do better. " he sobbed, breaking down as he tried to keep his voice steady and clear as he apologized.
you could feel your lip quiver, your eyes filling up with tears, the only thing stopping you from crying was your will to not break down. " tetsuro, stop it. " you spoke.
you could hear his uneven breathing, your hands raising up to your waist so you could place it over his. " i'm a horrible husband y/n, please forgi— "
" it's okay, just take a deep breath. i forgive you, okay? it's your birthday, you can't cry on your birthday. " you reassured in a soft tone, your hands caressing his as you let him cry.
" thank you, thank you much y/n. how can i ever make it up to you? you're too good for me. " he chuckled weakly as he raised his head, sniffing while feeling grateful for your understanding.
you thought about it for a moment, " let's slow dance, we haven't done that in a very long time. then we can eat the cake. " you suggested, raising your hands from his as you turned around to face him.
he smiled softly, " of course. " he agreed while nodding slightly, watching you as you lifted your hands towards his face, using your thumbs to wipe off the tears on his face.
he couldn't help but rest his forehead on yours, it was his go-to move whenever he felt stressed. he shut his eyes, feeling your arms wrap around his neck as he sighed in relief.
you were a blessing in disguise, always so understanding and forgiving no matter what. you had so much love to give, and tetsuro voluntarily chose to receive all of it.
“ shall we dance? ” you asked, smiling widely as you connected your eyes with his golden one's.
you both fell in step, letting the rhythm control your movements. all your worries dissolving into thin air, it was just tetsuro and you.
tetsuro's body seemed to be acting on its own, no chains to holding him back from this pure paradise. he drew you close to his chest, keeping his hands tight around you.
you set your head on his shoulder as you both continued to dance and waltz around in the complete silence of the home you managed to build an amazing life in.
time passed so speedily as your feet moved in rythym, a content smile plastered onto both of your faces.
you brought your head up and sleepily opened your eyes, leaning in and planting your lips on your husband's.
in which he held you even tighter and closer than before as the kiss continued, you could feel him smiling softly before pulling away and chuckling, " i love you tetsu. "
" i love you too darling, but cake? "
" of course you dork. "

studying with kuroo testuro
oneshot
pairing: kuroo tetsuro x gn!reader
genre: fluff
warning: one almost sexual joke
a/n: i really overused the word "eyes" cuz i didn't want to say "orbs" lol
Tumblr media
you furrowed your eyebrows as you, again, got confused by your calculus assignment. your eyes shot up to look at the man sitting across from you, he looked focused on his studies and you felt bad to interrupt him for something so simple. "i can do it by myself," you decided to yourself, "i just need to think harder."
you heard kuroo close his book and shuffle around, his presence suddenly appearing at your side. "do you need help?" he questioned, resting his hand on the table leaning towards you.
you looked up and met his eyes, embarrassment from not being able to hide your confusion seeping through your body. you looked away, back at your paper before answering, "yeah, kind of. i just don't understand."
"i didn't understand this at first either," he said, eyes scanning over your paper. "the teachers always explained it in the most difficult ways possible," he said with a small chuckle as he pulled his chair up next to yours.
"is there a specific part you're confused by or just everything?" he asked, leaning even closer to you.
heat crept up your neck at the lack of distance between you two. "um, i think i get the, uh, first part but somewhere i just go wrong," you answered, cursing your stammering.
"hm, ok," he said. he pulled your paper closer to him, silently mouthing words to himself as he pointed at parts of your work.
you leisurely studied him, the small crinkle in his brow, the little pout resting upon his lips, the hair falling over his eye, the arch of his nose; his whole face was simply perfect to you. you watched as his eyes turned in your direction, your eyes connecting. heat immediately rushing up to your face as you realized you were caught staring at him.
a smirk grew on kuroo's face, "is there something on my face?"
"i- uh, you- well," you stuttered, eyes shooting around his face, finally landing on his lips. you quickly realized what you were doing and looked back up at his eyes, but you were shocked when you saw his eyes traveling to your lips as well.
he began leaning his head in, meeting your eyes once more for consent before connecting your lips.
you steadily moved your lips against his, breath slowly leaving your lungs before you pulled away at the same time, faintly gasping in unison.
"we can study more back at my place, if you want," kuroo broke the silence, smirk plastered on his face.
you moved away before replying, "moment ruined, thanks kuroo."
he threw his head back, boisterous laughter bouncing off the walls. "i'm sure i can make it up to you."
"just stop," you groaned, placing your head in your hands as kuroo's hysterics continued.

A Second Chance?
M. List
A/N: I know I took a break for a bit, but I've been thinking about getting back into writing again. I usually write headcanons, but this time I decided to try my hand at an actual one-shot again since my first one was kinda miserable imo. I hope you enjoy!
Type: Kuroo x (implied fem.) reader Summary: Following a break up between you and Kuroo, the two of you reconnect in an unexpected way.
Tumblr media
Kuroo had no idea why this was happening. The two of you were doing so good before, weren’t you? That was what he thought until he spotted you in a cutesy little cafe with none other than his best friend of many years, Kenma Kozume, anyway. He had always suspected there may have been some sort of unacknowledged feelings between the two of you, and this was only proven further after you and Kuroo broke up almost two weeks ago. He knows he shouldn’t be bothered by this, you weren’t his anymore after all. But, God, does he wish you were. For him, the time since the two of you split has been absolute hell, especially since you were the one to end things. Obviously you didn’t feel the same since you had apparently started seeing Kenma recently. That was the real punch in the gut for him. If it had been anyone else he’d spotted you with, he would've been happy for you. But his best friend…? Oh no. No, no, no. He was definitely not okay with this. But realistically, what could he even do about any of this? Here he was, standing in the middle of the sidewalk outside of a cafe in Tokyo watching you go on a date with his best friend, or so he thought. What he didn’t know was the real reason that you and Kenma were together at the moment.
Friday evening after school, Kenma had sent you a text, which wasn’t anything out of the ordinary since the two of you were friends. What caught you off guard was the fact that he had invited you out. This was odd for two reasons: 1) Kenma doesn’t like to go out, and 2) You had just broken up with his best friend. However, you agreed anyway since you had barely left your house since the break up unless it was to go to school. That leads you to this morning. It started out pretty normal. You had gotten up, got ready, and set out to meet Kenma at the cafe. What you didn’t expect was to see your ex-boyfriend standing outside staring directly at the two of you. Both you and Kenma shared a worried look before turning your attention back to the young man outside. This was weird. Kuroo, the usually lively, sociable guy, was suddenly frozen in shock and looked as if he had just seen a ghost. As you waved a shy “hello” to him, you turned to Kenma who ushered you to go outside and talk to him.
As you slowly made your way out the door, you couldn’t help but feel incredibly anxious. What if he got the wrong idea and wouldn’t even want to see you now? You shuddered at the thought as you made your way over to him, carefully dodging a few of the other pedestrians walking past you. A few more seconds passed and you eventually reached him.
“Hey.” you said in greeting, nervously scanning his face for any implication of annoyance or general dislike.
As he heard your voice for the first time in what felt like an eternity, he snapped back to reality, shifting his gaze to look at you.
“Hey.” His voice was quiet as he spoke, something that was slightly unusual for him.
“So, you and Kenma, huh?”
Oh great, this was exactly what you feared would happen. As you began to think of an explanation, he cut your train of thought off.
“I don’t really care, of course. As long as the two of you are happy.”
‘What a lie.’, he thought. He was quite literally lying through his teeth right now. He cared. He cared so much more than he was willing to admit, but he would never let you know that. Not right now, at least. Not while the sting of the break up was still fresh.
“Oh, no, we’re not-” you started as you tried to explain yourself. “We were just discussing some things. You know, as friends…!”
You smiled, hoping desperately that he would believe you. You watched as his expression changed to one of suspicion.
“As “friends”, gotcha.” he said bitterly, crossing his arms across his chest.
Your expression flickered to one of shock for a split second before you quickly regained your composure. “I’m being serious, Kuroo.” you said as you placed your hands on your hips.
He raised his eyebrows as you spoke, as if telling you to continue. And continue, you did.
“Last night, after school,” you began, staring him directly in the eyes as you spoke now. "Kenma had sent me a text, inviting me to go out with him today to discuss some things since he noticed what you couldn’t.”
As he listened to you, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What I didn’t…?” he questioned, completely oblivious as to what you meant by this.
You nodded your head at his words, still maintaining eye contact.
“Mhm.” you hummed. “You know, like how I was slowly distancing myself from you and the rest of the team before we split, and for some unknown reason choosing to spend more time managing the girls’ team. All things that should have been of concern to you, but you were too focused on God knows what else.”
That earned you a very bewildered look from Kuroo, who had somehow failed to notice all of those things, as observant as he was.
“Huh…?” He muttered to himself, his mine now racing with thoughts. “How did I…?”
“I don’t know either,” you interrupted, shifting slightly where you stood as your eye contact faltered. “but I do know that that’s one of the main reasons for why I decided to leave you.”
At this point, Kuroo isn’t sure what to feel as he stands there, listening to the girl he loves tell him what a fuck up he’s been as of late. All he knows is that he wants to try and fix this, and hopefully get you back into his arms
His next words come out in a whisper, his expression now one of sorrow and regret.
“I’m sorry…” he said, unsure of how to convey the truth of his words. “If I had just paid more attention to you, if I-”
You cut him off. “It’s okay. I’m over it now.” As you spoke, you tried to smile, but could only show a slight purse of your lips.
Kuroo simply nodded as you spoke, but there was still something on his mind. Just what were you doing here with Kenma? He’d decided that if there was a time to question you about it, the time was now while he still had you here.
“So, uh,” he began, suddenly unsure of how to word things. “what exactly were you and Kenma talking about before all of this…?” He decided to tread lightly, not wanting to get his feelings hurt again.
You thought for a moment before responding. “You.” you stated genuinely, not showing any signs of being untruthful.
His eyes widened slightly in surprise at your simple response. ‘Why on earth would they be talking about me?’ he thought to himself as he stared at you once again.
“Me…?” he asked quietly, unsure of if he was hearing you correctly. When you nodded in response, his mouth was slightly agape, unsure of how to respond. After a few moments of silence, he finally found something.
“Hey…,” he would say, hesitation evident in his voice. “can I ask you something…?” He finished his sentence, eyes scanning your face for any signs of a negative reaction. As he saw you nod once again, he continued.
“Say…I still have feelings for you.” he began, still watching you intently. “Would that be something that would cause issues?” His voice was soft, softer than usual as he asked his question, internally terrified of the outcome.
At the mention of him possibly feeling the same way as you do, your eyes were the ones widening in shock. You stared at him with the same dumbfounded expression he had just worn moments ago, in complete and utter disbelief.
“Are you…?” you asked suspiciously, secretly hoping you were right in your suspicion.
“Saying I still love you?” he said, cutting you off in the process. “Yes, I am, actually.”

[1:06am]
"Found you."
You swung your feet back and forth, the swing underneath you slightly swaying at the motion. You had been enjoying the warm summer air and crying of cicadas. At the voice, you tore your eyes from the night sky to see your friend standing in front of you with his arms crossed. Kuroo looked damn good in a suit. He was going to be perfect at his new job.
"We're a bit too old to be playing hide and seek," you chuckled as he took a seat on the swing next to you. It looked almost comically small as he stretched out his long legs.
"I wouldn't have to come find you if you didn't hide." You could hear the smile in his voice. "Are you nervous about moving?"
You shook your head. "I'm just going an hour away. Practically still in Tokyo."
There was a small pause before he replied. "It'll be weird to not see you almost everyday."
"I know. How will you live without me gracing you with my presence?"
"I don't know." The playfulness you were expecting wasn't there. When you curiously looked over to his face, there was a glimpse of something before he smirked at you. "I think the bigger question is, how will you live without me?"
"You mean a life without the bullying and the stealing food from my fridge and the breaking vases 'practicing' volleyball in my living room."
"It was one vase! And I replaced it!" he said indignantly.
You giggled and his face softened at the sound. You both suddenly jumped a little as you heard a ringtone go off.
"Mae?" you asked with an eyebrow raised.
He stared at the screen briefly before closing it.
"You know you can go answer it."
He shook his head.
"What?" you continued, "Are you nervous to talk to Model Mae? Miss Perfect Mae?"
He snorted. "Maybe."
"You were so confident when you asked for her number."
"Are you kidding?" He rubbed his face. "I felt a bit nauseous."
"You? Nervous around girls?" Flashbacks of numerous parties with girls wrapped around him flitted through your mind. "Oh please."
He chuckled. "I guess I got better at it after a while. But it still takes a bit of a push."
You pursed your lips. "Liar."
"No, really."
"Yeah sure."
He turned and gazed into your eyes. "Do you know how hard it was for me to talk to you at first?"
What the hell.
He pushed himself up a little with his legs and his fingers slightly tightened over the chains of the swing.
"I thought you said I was intimidating and that I looked like I didn't like you."
He let out breathy laugh. "It's not unheard of for a guy to be scared to talk to a beautiful girl. Especially when he thinks he doesn't have a chance."
You scrambled to find something to say in response but you couldn't think over the rapid beating in your chest.
"But the other girls...you never showed any interest or anything to me?"
He looked away at the ground. "Yeah but you were always talking to other guys too. Was I supposed to sit around and watch?"
You felt your eyes burn a little at his words and your heart sink. It was unfair. You wanted this for so long but why did it have to be now?
"Tetsu."
His head shot up to look at you.
"Why are you telling me this right after we just graduated? Right before starting our jobs? Right when we'll barely have any time to spend with each other?"
His eyes widened slightly, "...time for each other?"
"I mean it would've been so much easier to be together during university," you continued. "Now what do we do like-"
You suddenly saw floppy black hair in front of you and stopped mid sentence. Kuroo was now standing in front of you, wrapping his fingers around the chains right above your hands and stooped down so he was almost at face level with you. His lips were twitching, as if he was trying to contain a broad smile.
"What do we do y/n." This time he smiled smugly. "What about we start with your confession?"
Your eyes widened in surprise before you narrowed them. "No thanks. You can go first."
"I basically did just now."
"No, you said I'm popular with guys. I already knew that."
He rolled his eyes and dramatically cleared his throat. "y/n, you were, of course, stunning the moment I laid eyes on you, but it's in the couple of years we've hung out after that I fell in love with you. I've been awkward and jealous and done some really dumb shit to try and impress you and - " you slapped a hand over his mouth.
"Okay I think I get it."
He grinned and placed his hand on yours, moving it to cup his cheek and pressing a kiss to your palm.
"Your turn."
You rolled your eyes. "Okay I guess I feel the same way."
He raised an eyebrow and you copied him. "Take it or leave it Tetsu."
He smirked. "Oho so it looks like I'm gonna have a bratty girlfriend." You felt your cheeks heat up and you were suddenly aware of how close his face was to yours. HIs eyes flickered to your lips and breath hitched as he drew closer and -
He straightened back up with a shit-eating grin.
"C'mon let's go back to the party. It's for our graduation anyway."
Do I want to kiss him or kill him?
"What?" he said innocently as he looked at the expression on your face.
You sighed in exasperation but you couldn't control the elated feeling you felt in your heart. You couldn't help but break out into what you knew was a silly, lovestruck smile and Kuroo couldn't help but mirror it. He extended a hand towards you and slowly, almost hesitantly, you placed your hand in his and stood up. Under the night sky and the trees swaying as the rare cool breeze swept by, Kuroo's hand was warm, his fingers interlocking with yours, and you resolved to never let it go.

Chapter 1 ✧ MEAT BUNS
Tumblr media
Study room 201 on the fourth floor of the campus library had become somewhat of a reprieve from the mountain of pressure that usually accompanies the life of a college student. It was the furthest room from the entrance, and the largest. And although there was a mysteriously brown stain on the corner of the grayed out carpet and the fluorescent lighting above flickered from time to time, the room had seen you through the tightest of deadlines.
The crick in your neck finally forced you to sit up from your hunched position, taking a moment to stare at the same four off-white walls you’ve stared at all semester. The sounds of footsteps and hushed conversations still could be heard from just the other side, and now you wonder — is this really the reprieve or the prison?
You let out a groan, leaning back on your chair and rubbing your fists against your eyes. The tiny black letters on the pages of your textbook began swimming out of line, and you could only wish they would swim directly into your head instead. Maybe then, it would explain the pounding headache that’s been beating your brain for the past hour and a half.
“Need a break?”
From across the table, Kuroo gave you a look of concern with eyes that peeked over the edge of his laptop.
You sigh, nodding tiredly. “You got any snacks? I haven’t eaten all day.”
Your statement was emphasized by the unceremonious growling of your stomach. You clutched at your belly, glaring at the offender while Kuroo just snickered. The legs of his chair scratched against the carpet when he moved to stand up.
“Wait here, I’ll go stop by the vending machine.”
You smiled appreciatively, but his efforts were proven to have been wasted when the door slowly swung open.
“Knock knock,” Bokuto greeted, walking into the room with a smile on his face and Akaashi by his side. You smiled and waved at the two boys, mood lifting sky high at the arrival of your best friend.
“Why say ‘knock knock’ when you can just knock?” Kuroo rolls his eyes, parking himself back into his seat.
“Why say anything at all when you can just be quiet?” Bokuto retorted, sticking his tongue out at his roommate.
Kuroo never bothered to look up from his screen, typing away with one hand while flipping Bokuto off with another.
Akaashi just sighed, settling his things down in his usual spot in the room; next to Kuroo and across from you. You were about to open your mouth and give them a proper greeting, but was silenced when Bokuto placed a cup of iced coffee and a brown paper bag in front of you.
“You haven’t eaten today, have you?” Bokuto asks, nudging you with his elbow before taking his seat beside you.
“Aww,” you cooed, a goofy grin fighting its way onto your lips. You reach out to pinch Bokuto on the cheek, laughing when he swats your hand away, “Look at you, being thoughtful.”
“I could hear your stomach growling from across campus,” Bokuto commented, “And you better finish that! I had to hide it in my jacket to get it past the librarian.”
“You didn’t get me anything?” Kuroo complained from across the table.
“There’s food at the apartment,” Bokuto says as he settles his materials across the desk. And still, even though Bokuto constantly chooses to antagonize his roommate, he procures a bag of chips from his backpack and tosses it to Kuroo, who gracefully caught it with one hand.
You chuckle at the exchange, peeking into the brown paper bag and pulling out two wrapped buns — surprised (but not really) to find that he got your usual order from the convenience store just off campus. You turn to offer Kuroo the second bun, but he just shook his head as he opened his bag of chips.
“Did you just try to regift my gift for you,” Bokuto complains in mock offense, placing a hand across his heart, and you shrug your shoulders while you unwrap the first meat bun.
“Yes,” you replied right before taking your first bite, ignoring Bokuto’s complaints and smiling when Kuroo chuckled.
You could feel the twisting pain in your stomach slowly disappear, and you were practically dancing in your seat as the warmth of the gifted food spread throughout your belly.
Bokuto had always been the type to do that sort of thing. He’s garnered himself quite the reputation of being a bit of an airhead athlete, no doubt exacerbated by his cheerful disposition and happy-go-lucky attitude but you knew he was more than that . He’s always been called the emotional ace who paraded around like a peacock for everyone to see his feathers, yet it’s little moments like these that truly show off his colors.
When he secretly brings Kuroo a bag of chips, when he waits for Akaashi to get out of class, when he brings your favorite snack -- it was like Bokuto’s way of handing out little pieces of his heart.
You dramatically groan and roll your eyes back at the first sip of iced coffee, Bokuto smiles in satisfaction when you finish your food in five minutes, and you try not to look like a pig as you rub the crumbs from the corner of your mouth. Bokuto scoffs and calls you gross, but the gentle smile stays on his lips as he grabs a napkin off the table, wiping away at the corners of your mouth.
You managed to catch your heart before it jumped out of your chest, smiling sheepishly at Bokuto before grabbing the napkin out of his hand and finishing the job yourself.
“Y/N,” you snap your attention back to Akaashi, “You took chemistry with this professor last year, right?”
He shows you his schedule, and you nod eagerly.
“Yeah, are you having some trouble?” You ask, reaching for his textbook. Akaashi nods, pointing to a particular equation that he had difficulty solving.
The next hour had been spent comparing your old notes with Akaashi, relaying some tips and tricks you had learned from your professor’s TA. Kuroo was grumbling over Bokuto’s essay, berating the poor boy for his grammatical errors. You begged for him to edit your paper next, and he gave you grief before grabbing your laptop.
It was a scene that has been set time and time again, one that was familiar and almost reassuring. Within these four walls, the four of you have stressed over deadlines, cried over exams, and possibly spent more time here than your own apartment. And yet despite the seemingly organized chaos that ensued whenever midterms came around, Study room 201 always brought you comfort.
It’s funny, really, how one small decision could completely change the trajectory of your life.
If you had told your cute little first-year self that the silly little manager position for the volleyball club you’d joined because all the other clubs were full would have led to this, you might have scoffed and rolled your eyes.
But the relationships you had cultivated during that pocket of time were meant to last lifetimes, you were sure of it. Washio still texts you to ask how to get rid of the stain on his jersey. Your thread with Konoha is bombarded with memes and videos. Yukie and Kaori both make sure to facetime you at least once a week. Time goes on, but the kind of love you have for them will never change.
Well, except for one.
Of everyone on the team, the person you had found yourself growing closest to was undeniably Bokuto Koutaro. You’re not sure when it happened — somewhere between week-long training camps, late night convenience store runs, getting ramen after school, and walking home after practice — but Bokuto’s gravitational pull became too much to resist. His presence was large, and it wasn’t long until you were caught in his rotation, orbiting around streaked hair and golden eyes that radiated benevolence and light.
He made it so easy, with how he remembers your favorite study snack, and how he knows you have the tendency to skip lunch. He made it so easy, with the way he chose the same college as you (and akaashi, but whatever) and how he doesn’t let a day go by without shooting you at least one text. He made it so easy, with the way he cared about your day and made sure you always got home safely. It was easy to fall in love with Bokuto Kotaro. But in the end, he only ever saw you as his best friend.
A glance at the top right corner of your screen indicates that it was quickly approaching midnight. With a class first thing in the morning, you figured now was a good time as any to call it quits.
“I’m heading out,” you announce, gathering your belongings and stuffing them in your bag. “Keiji, let’s go home?”
Akaashi spared you an apologetic glance beneath his dark rimmed glasses, “Sorry, I gotta stay and finish this paper.”
Bokuto had already finished putting away his things, “I’ll walk you home, Y/N. See, I can’t believe you chose Akaashi for a roommate! You should’ve moved in with us instead.”
“It’s to protect her from men such as you that I chose to move in with her in the first place, Bokuto-san,” Akaashi called over the clacking of his keys, narrowly dodging the eraser Bokuto threw at his head.
“How about you, Kuroo?” you ask
“Go ahead,” Kuroo waved you off, “I’ve got about ten chapters left to study.”
The two of you bid your goodbyes, shuffling out of the study room quickly. Bokuto wordlessly grabbed your bags from your shoulders, hoisting them onto his own.
“Are you ready for your quiz tomorrow?” You ask once the two of you make your way out of the stuffy building.
Bokuto slaps himself on the forehead. “My quiz tomorrow!”
You shake your head. “Kou, I texted you about that earlier today,” you punch him lightly on the shoulder, “Why don’t you stay with the guys and study for a bit? I can get myself home.”
“You’re crazy if you think I’m letting you go home alone at this hour,” he replies with a glare, and although you knew that’s what he was going to say, his thoughtfulness still brought heat to your face.
“Ahh, I can’t believe I forgot,” he continued to grumble, running his hands frustratedly through his hair. The two of you finally made it off campus, walking slowly along the surprisingly well lit sidewalk. Bokuto maneuvers you to stand on his right side, making sure to stand between you and the empty street.
“Your quiz isn’t until the afternoon right?” You muse, “I have time between classes to help if you need it?”
The way he whips his head towards you, face twisted with hope and excitement was enough to make your knees buckle.
“Really? You’d do that?” He asks.
“Of course, Kou,” you reply, and this was embarrassingly small compared to how much you were willing to do for him.
He cheers a little, bags rustling in his arms as he pumps a fist in victory. Without a second thought, he throws an arm around your shoulder, making you stumble a bit as he pulls you into his side.
“Thanks, you’re the best!”
His arm lingers around you for a moment, and it almost bothered you how perfectly it felt to be tucked into him. You chuckled nervously, feeling just about ready to burst from his affection, opting to awkwardly side step out of his embrace.
If he noticed your discomfort, he chose not to comment on it. Instead, you ask him about his day, and Bokuto was more than willing to indulge in the conversation. You listen while he complains about his classes, and how group projects should be considered illegal. You tell him about the awkward encounter with your professor at the coffee shop, and he teases you about your lack of social skills. The conversation between you flowed easily from one subject to the next, every moment shared between you had been laced with genuine smiles and light hearted laughter.
The walk to your apartment was a short one, only five blocks from the library. Yet the twenty minutes next to Bokuto was enough to ease the heavy load that you had been carrying on your shoulders.
“...then Atsumu hit the ball a little too hard, and it smacked Coach right in the face,” Bokuto’s arms waved around in a way that always makes you giggle, “We had to do an extra twenty laps after practice.”
“So I take it things are going well with the volleyball team?” You asked, slowing down your steps as your destination came into view.
“All things considered, yeah. I’ve been working on some plays with my teammates that I think would really help us next match,” he mentions off-handedly, when suddenly he snaps his fingers.
“That reminds me, we have a new manager!”
“Oh?” You ask, digging through your pockets for your keys as the two of you approach the doorway of your building.
“Yeah,” he stood patiently behind you as you fumbled your key into the lock before it finally gave way, then following you to the decrepit elevator just past the entrance. A pregnant pause passes between you, and as the double doors of the elevator opened, Bokuto said, “The team’s actually throwing her a welcome party this weekend. Do you... want to go with me?”
Your heart nearly jumped into your throat, finger hovering over the button to your floor for just one second before jamming down repeatedly.
Was he asking you to be his date?
You shake away the thought. Like with everything Bokuto does for you, you try your best not to pick apart every word of his sentence, but there’s always a part of you that hopes you weren’t just imagining things.
“This weekend?” you ask nonchalantly as the elevator jerked beneath your feet, the mechanical whirring of the wires echoing in the tiny box. “I think I should be free.”
“Great,” Bokuto said in time with the ding that signaled your arrival to your floor, stepping out into the hallway once the doors opened, “I’ll tell Kuroo about it, too. Could you also mention it to Akaashi? We could all meet up here, it’s closer to my teammates house.”
You let out a deep sigh, attempting to expel all disappointment out of your lungs.
Of course he wasn’t asking you.
“Sounds good, Kou,” you reply, finally stopping in front of your apartment, quickly grabbing your things from Bokuto’s grasp.
“Awesome,” he answers, reaching out a hand to ruffle your hair, “I’ll text you when I get home. See you!”
Bokuto steps back, shooting you a toothy smile before heading back from where he came.
It wasn’t until much later — after going through the motions of your nighttime routine — did you finally let yourself collapse into the safety of your bed, reading the same “I’m home now, can’t wait for our study date tomorrow!” text from Bokuto for the hundredth time in a row.
You let out an inhuman groan.
You were truly an idiot.

[ 1:29 AM ] god, you hated cold nights like these.
“you look absolutely ridiculous.”
you could hear the faint sounds of kuroo’s footsteps gradually louden. the mountain of blankets you were drowning in played no help when you tried to distinguish where he stood in the bedroom.
“it’s fucking freezing,” you say from under the covers, voice wavering due to the unstoppable chatter of your teeth.
though you couldn’t see him, you’d been together long enough to be able to perfectly picture him standing right above you, looking down at the large lump on your bed with his hands on his hips and his shit-eating grin.
tightly grasping the edges of the blankets, you tugged it over your head, just enough to let you peak through, and you squinted at the brightness of the room. your hair clung to your face in spontaneous directions yet the only thing you could focus on was how the chilliness of the night nipped at your fingertips as they held the soft fabrics. with eyebrows furrowed and eyes barely open, you quickly snapped at him, growing impatient with every passing minute he wasn’t supplying you with his body warmth.
“what’re you doing still standing there?! hurry up and get in bed!”
you lifted up the end, uncoiling to scoot over to the other side of the bed as you hid your face, embarrassed at your own outburst. the mattress dipped inwards as kuroo slipped himself in, lightly chuckling. you eyed his pink cheeks as they shifted when he smiled and gently shook his head, the warmth of the heater tickling the hairs on the back of your neck. beginning to roll over to face you, your hands were quick to halt his movements.
“i’ll be big spoon tonight.”
“i like being small spoon anyways.”
kuroo scoffs and you take the opportunity to stretch your arms over and hook them together in-front of him. you’re engulfed by the smell of your own shampoo.
whilst tangling your legs together, you ask him, “tetsu, did you use my hair products while in the shower?”
“i couldn’t help it babe, your hair always smells too good.”
you gently smiled against his back and into the material of his black shirt. kuroo grinned, feeling your face squished against his back as you shook with giggles.
letting out a last breath of laughter, you felt kuroo shift to turn the lamp on the bedside table off and you snuggled in closer to his body.
he was always so warm, so easy to cuddle. his heartbeat slowed and with your ear against his back and able to hear it, so did your own.
“goodnight ____.”
“goodnight tetsu.”
you still hated cold nights, but with kuroo here to help, maybe you didn’t hate them all that much.

infectious mononucleosis [kuroo tetsurō]
notes: stop this is so cute, i can literally picture how this would go in my head.
Tumblr media
“what are you doing here?” is the first thing you say when your front door opens and your boyfriend stands there, several bags in hand.
recently you had gotten the flu. this consequence left you staying at home, bundled under the sheets, eating chicken noodle soup, and feeling miserable of course. you barely moved from your bed because of how much you were aching with pain and the fact that you couldn't exert much energy.
it had been several days since you’d seen kuroo. you’d already told him that you were sick and for him to not come over because you did not want to spread germs and get him sick. he respected your wishes and you both went on about your lives, a little sad that you couldn’t see each other but you reminded yourself it was for the best. you were sure kuroo thought the same thing.
sorry to break it to you but you were terribly wrong.
he keeps inching towards you, his fingers inching by their side. “oh come on, don’t tell me you didn’t miss me either? i was dying without you, yanno. and the fact that you were here alone and sick? i shouldn’t have ever agreed to stay away.”
he keeps inching towards you, his fingers inching by their side. “oh come on, don’t tell me you didn’t miss me either? i was dying without you, yanno. and the fact that you were here alone and sick? i shouldn’t have ever agreed to stay away.”
he sees that you’re still hesitant and frowns, his hazel eyes mirroring the miserable state he’s been in from not seeing you. “please.” he whines, now at least several inches away from him.
you end up caving in, letting him touch you. his scent overwhelms your senses and you feel a wave of comfort wash over you once it does. as much as you hated to admit it you needed this just as much as he did.
“can you at least let me take care of you?” he says, his arms wrapping around your middle.
you bury your face further into his neck as a response. "i guess you can stay..."
one of the best things about kuroo is how caring and loving he is. he truly puts so much energy into anything that he does for you. he helped you shower and wash up, cooked dinner for the both of you, and even made sure that you took your medicine on time.
after all of that, the two of you lay on the couch (you argued against snuggling, but again kuroo still ended up getting his way), watching a movie together. your hands run through the rooster head’s hair as he lays on your lap.
you could say that it's nice and relaxing but you feel an intense gaze on you while you watch the movie and it's hard to ignore. your boyfriend is hardly ever shameless about staring.
there’s a hint of a smile on your face. “what is it?” you say, not even looking at him.
“kiss. i want kisses,” kuroo replies, pulling you towards him. there's an obnoxious smooching noise that follows and you cringe.
solemnly you reach over to plant a kiss on his cheek, forehead, and nose. you pull back. he doesn't look satisfied.
reading his mind you sigh. “tetsu, i don’t want to get you sick. we can’t do that.”
he's already pulling you back, not listening. “don’t care about that. we’re dating so your germs are my germs, okay?”
you blink, baffled. “that’s not how that works.”
he pouts. "well i make the rules, and i say that it does. i also think it's very rude to deprive your boyfriend of proper affection when in his presence. I'm starting to think that you don't love me."
your shoulders sag with defeat as you stare at the overgrown manchild known as your boyfriend. "if i kiss you will you finally stop whining so much?"
he sits up, already excited. "well, yeah. isn't that obvious?"
the two of you stare at each other. you raise a brow and he only smiles. he's so lucky that he's cute.
"you're going to regret this, you know." you say, leaning in once again.
instead of responding, kuroo does not hesitate to grab you and press his lips to yours. his large hands are gentle as they hold your face, but his lips move hungrily, almost as if he was starving. cheekily, he pulls you so that you end up losing balance and stumbling onto his lap. one of his hands tug you closer to him to help balance.
you pull away and hiss. "you're so annoy-'
he doesn't give you the chance to finish as he kisses you again, humming with satisfaction.
you have to forcibly yank yourself back from him, hitting him on the arm and mumbling about how you need to breathe. he argues that he's the only breath of fresh air there is but still lets you go.
both of you are flustered afterward and it's almost comical how much kuroo's mood has changed since kissing you. the man wasn't lying when he said he needed your kisses.
"are you happy now?"
"mmhm." he nods, still holding you. it's safe to say that he isn't letting you go anywhere anytime soon.
"good."
the two of you fall asleep on the couch, clinging to each other. when you wake up you're surprised that kuroo isn't already awake. 9 times out of 10 he's already up and moving, usually starting his day with a jog outside.
you decide to get up and make him breakfast out of not only love but appreciation for him caring for you.
time flies as you prepare everything, and you hear a noise of discontent as you're finishing up. kuroo is finally awake. he sits up, bleary-eyed, and sniffs.
"good morning sleeping beauty." you greet, bringing him breakfast. he only grunts in response before taking the food. he quietly thanks you before digging in.
"i forgot to say last night, but i’m feeling a lot better now,” you beam, hugging him tightly, "thank you for taking care of me."
he faintly smiles opening his mouth to speak. “i-ACHOO!” he sneezes. he goes to speak again but is interrupted by another sneeze. he shivers slightly afterward.
you frown before realizing how kuroo seems to be exhibiting signs that you were when you first got sick: puffy eyes, stuffed nose, hoarse voice and-
you reach over and feel his forehead. it's burning hot.
clicking your tongue, you shoot to your feet. "i told you!" you huff, pulling him up and to the bedroom to the bed before moving to tuck him in the covers. he rolls his eyes and grumbles under his breath, "worth it."
you shake your head with disbelief. "you're an idiot, just finish your food, please. i'm calling in your job to let them know you can't come in. then i'm going to make you some tea and get medicine." you explain before moving to leave. surprisingly, he doesn't argue with you.
"wait!" he tugs back on your hand.
you sigh. "what is it? do you need something else?"
"yea," his pout is back and you don't know if it's the fever talking, “you have to kiss me in order for the sickness to go away.”

Dancing in the Rain
Paring: Kuroo x Reader
Warning: Fluff
Word Count: 358
As the final bell rang, you began to walk to the library. You rummage through your bag for your MP3 Player and headphones. When you opened the door, the smell of books gave you a nostalgic feeling. You greeted the librarian with a smile and headed to one of the empty desks. You placed your bag down and took out your homework.
After what seemed like an hour, you decided to look up only to see the sunset setting. As you admired the view, you felt a hand coming up to your ear. You turned around to see your Rooster Head of a boyfriend wearing your headphones. He giggled and playfully rested his head on your shoulder. He looked exhausted from practice.
“Kuroo” you whined, “get your sweaty head off of me.”
“But Chibby Chan… you are so comfortable, and I am so tired”
“You would be much comfortable on your bed with an actual pillow you know.”
“You are more comfortable..”
You mischievously hit Kuroo in the head with a book and, began to pack your things.
“Common Kuroo, we have to go now.”
Kuroo took your bag as you began to walk to the entrance. Kuroo would walk you home after practice. As you walked you felt droplets of water falling on your head. You looked up seeing storm clouds blocking the pretty sunset you saw once before. Kuroo put his Nekoma Jacket over you to keep you dry. You giggled and stepped out of the jacket.
“Y/n what are you doing?”
“What does it look like Tetsu?” You were playing in the rain, jumping and dancing.
“Y/n, you are going to get sick and catch a cold!”
“Kuroo” you reached for his hand, “dance with me, you got to live a little”
Kuroo grabbed your hand with hesitance and you both began to spin around in circles like children. Excitement filled the air, you had butterflies in your stomach. Kuroo bent down and kissed you.
Let’s just say the next day, you both were absent from school with a tiny cold.
