Mangakas look for inspirations in each other's works.... Every mangaka has surely said names of their inspirations somewhere. Mangakas are friends too! Many engage in good-natured rivalry too! But I think we all can agree that one of the most iconic mangaka friends-rivals duo is definitely that of Masashi Kishimoto and Eiichiro Oda, the authors of Naruto and One Piece respectively.

Eiichiro Oda debuted One Piece on December 24, 1997, while Masashi Kishimoto launched Naruto on September 21, 1999. Both of these legendary shounen mangas, which are part of Big 3, were released within a short time frame and have become some of the most beloved mangas of all time, gaining significant popularity in the early 2000s. Given their prominence and the overlapping timeline of their releases, Isn't it likely they know each other? Well, They sure do! Even though mangaka's are private about their life .. it's pretty public that these two mangaka share quite a close bond forged in their mutual passion for shounen storytelling.

They are quite good friends who have discussed their works and future plotlines with each other. I imagine it must be a really supportive and special relationship with them bonding over their experiences as manga writers.

Then, Naruto came to a close on November 10, 2014 while One piece is still ongoing in 2024! But with this end, there was a really beautiful homage paid by these artists which might have been missed by anime watchers...

This is the cover of chapter 766:Smile of Onepiece and we can see Luffy having ramen(Naruto's fav food) with Naruto who is eating meat(Luffy's fav. food)!!(and I think the place is naruto's innermind or the place wherever kurama is locked) ....there are numerous naruto references too! 1. The one piece logo has the 'o' and 'i' changed.you can compare it with the original! 2. Nami's dress had the leaf symbol. 3. Luffy is eating ramen and you can see a narutomaki on his noodles .4. The guy behind nami is Naruto 3.that fox's(is that a kurama reference🧐) t-shirt has a narutomaki too...

This was so endearing but that's not all!! Masashi Kishimoto paid homage to One-piece too in the cover of his last chapter!
