You trace your finger around the rim of your glass, some water drips down the side and onto the paper coaster.

You were definitely not going to be getting a drink with this boy who seemed to have an ego that needed to be knocked down ten levels.

“And she was like-”

You cut him off. “I’m going to the bathroom.” You smile, grabbing your purse. There’s a pinch in his brows as he watches you stand. You cut off his words, and he did not like that one bit.

You make your way to the bathroom, face screwing up at the smell and the paper towels in the floor. You pull your phone from your pocket, clicking on Spree.

It was cheaper than Uber and sometimes faster - you wanted out of here as fast as you could get out. You almost fell asleep a couple of times - you almost let yourself so maybe he would shut up and realize how much of a bore he was.

Putting in for a ride and somewhere close you could quickly walk to, you slip your phone back into your pocket before walking out.

“I’m sorry. I have a family emergency.” Darren glances up, eyebrows lifting.

“Oh, alright. I can take you home.”

“No!” You watch him flinch before you grab out your wallet. “Here’s my half. Have a goodnight.”

You turn away and quickly walk towards the antique store, slipping inside and letting out a breath.

No later than five minutes, your phone dings and you pull it from your pocket. One text from Darren - and the most important, a notification from Spree.

You step out, looking around for a blue car, immediately spotting it and its bright green lights from inside.

You quickly walk over, opening the door. “Kris?”

“That… Thats me!” He smiles, looking over the passenger seat at you. He smooths a hand over his hair.

You give him a smile and slip into the back, shutting the door, buckling up. You peek outside as he rolls away.

“I hope you don’t mind the cameras,” He speaks up. You look over at him. “They’re for my p-protection.” He nods.

“Oh, no. I don’t mind,” You smile softly. “I get it. You never know someone’s intentions.”

His eyes glance towards his live, a small smile on his lips. He blinks a couple of times before looking back out to the road. “Bad night?”

“You could say that,” You shrug. “I haven’t been out on a date in a while, I also just moved here not to long ago. Thought I’d give it a shot, and, of course, the guy was a total douche.”

He huffs out a laugh and nods. After that, it remains silent after a while.

The car rolls to a stop, the red light leaking through the windows. You immediately block Darren, slipping your phone back into your purse.

When you look up, you flinch a bit seeing the driver already turned around, staring at you.

“Do y-you remember me?”

Your brows lift slightly in surprise. You definitely did not know who this guy was. Nor remember him at all

But you sort of felt bad - he had the type of brown eyes to make you blurt an answer out to make him feel better.

“Yes.”

The light turns green and his body stays turned, his smile slowly dropping from his face. You shrink back in your seat, fiddling with your fingers.

You jump from a horn going off. He slowly turns, driving slowly. He makes a turn.

Your heart drops when you feel the car shake a bit under the gravel.

“Uh, this isn’t… this isn’t the way to my house.”

He ignore you, fingers gripping his wheel. The car comes to a sudden stop, your body being slung forward, the seatbelt slipping up and digging into your neck. You cough, scooting back into your seat.

You hear a click.

“Today’s lesson, f-friends,” He smiles, at his phone. You peek up front, watching reactions flood his phone. “Never lie,” He turns towards you and grins. “You’re right. You can’t t-trust anyone these days. I’m Kurt.”
