My english teacher who recommended Vonnegut to me also mentioned that she thinks I would really like his humor and I tell you, when I read Cat's Cradle I was like holy shit this is a masterpiece but I did not realize how fucking funny it actually is because it's just written how I think all of the time

#like it's described as funny and when i read from it to some friends on a train one of them said it was funny #i did not catch the humor at first simply because it lines up so much with my day to day thought process #and just my worldview in general. i like vonnegut he gets me. do you ever look at something and go oh it's like they wrote it for me #i felt that with cat's cradle #man i love kurt vonnegut. he single handedly made me enjoy reading again #the books i have read so far all felt sort of welcoming in a way like they made me want to keep reading

Every time someone very confidently asserts "oh, that joke must be a reference to [some recent media made in the last 5-10 years]" I always have to sit there chuckling to myself like a smug elder thing: "No, young one, that media reference is far older than you or I, and once again your education has failed you, for you were never given even the simplest of tools to begin searching for the Olde Truths of this world, such that man was never meant to know."
