This brief was so fun! Kappa are found in rivers and akaname thrive in dirty, cluttered areas of houses licking grime off things. So best to keep our rivers clean and our homes a little less clean to give these beings space to live!

Had the GREAT pleasure of designing this West Sixth Brewing can label as a special, limited edition in this year's advent calendar!

I was given a choice of which beer I'd like to re-imagine...and I chose my long-standing favorite: the flagship IPA!!

I had SO MUCH fun designing this and now that advent calendar season is over I can finally share it.

I like to think it reflects (not only the classic colors of the IPA can) but my love for sequential art and how a single image can tell a story.

Red Devil one quart liquid clear varnish (flat 52) flat finish.

The lid is quite a bit rusty. I am not planning on opening it because a) It most likely is no good so I'm not using it for anything but show. b) might damage the lid beyond repair which isn't worth risking to smell some 1930s varnish. I'm thinking 30s is around the time they were in full swing and just moved to NJ changing their operations from Oklahoma.

Being a graphic designer is fun, because nobody who isn't one seems to know how it works, and they will find new and interesting problems for you to solve that didn't need solving.

For instance, they will ask you to make a person's lips thinner even though that person's lips are going to be printed at 3/32 of an INCH (less than a quarter of a centimeter if you care). Will their label printer even show the difference on final print? Who knows?

NP types

NP types are imaginative and creative, always open to new experiences. Deep blues, cyan and white – these are the colors that correspond to the intuitive, spontaneous nature of these types. The cloudless sky and the endless blue of the ocean below, the harsh summer sun, lagoons and atolls, sandy beaches, watery jellyfish, underwater life on coral reefs – these are what I associate with NP types.
