disclaimer i havent Fully fleshed out its backstory so this will just be a large summary of . stuff that Occured

hiiro and his sisters were put up for adoption almost immediately after heru was born (hiiro being 3, pacchi being 5) and they took turns taking care of her bcuz their parents were too "busy" to hire babysitters. hiiro and pacchi got into a fight while heru (like toddler age atp) tried to break them up. because hiiro has always been quick to anger and sort of physical, when heru tried to intervene his first instinct was to push her as hard as he could while yelling at her to stay out of it, it doesnt involve her . errmm aftermath of that argument was . heru got permenant brain damage and hiiro and pacchis relationship Completely broke apart :[ aww womp womp . Ok fast forward . heru is homeschooled by a tutor and hiiro and pacchi are both in junior high. pacchi is popular and friendly and pretty, but her grades are lacking . hiiro has always been incredibly smart (even though pacchi is 2 years older, he skipped a school year or two and is in her same year), but his social life is miserable . because of his temper and Overall Unfriendliness he was put in separate classes away from his peers where he was the only student under a teacher who didnt care about hiiro or Pretty much anything . it wasnt seen often but when he Was seen he was beat up n bullied relentlessly n followed home , so a lot of the time he spent nights hidden in the school or in damp alleys because he didnt want to lead anyone dangerous back to pacchi and heru . when he Was home pacchi ignored him and heru would try to make conversation but hiiro was Pretty much entirely nonverbal during their school years . at home hiiro drew and wrote and played like anyone else his age but bcuz hiiro looked different and sounded different and acted different it ended up outcast and alienated :[ womp womp

aaaanyway yada yada hiiro graduates early n basically disappears into researching neurology n brains n Specifically how theyre "programmed" , they end up lowkey kidnapping a couple people to experiment on them w a janky "neuroprogramming" device that, once hes sure is Safe To Use , hiiro uses on itself :3 the way proples brains show up on the device isnt like an mri or anything , the way it shoes up actually Depends on the person so sometimes itll be a short rpg or lines of code or Minesweeper and because hiiro Made the device they can decipher what each brain thing means and collects data based off that . but because what he does is Very illegal the government eventually tracks him down and forces it to work w them or theyll Krill him .

hiiro has only had alcohol Once and despite being of legal age they were kicked out for looking too young . he cant hold his liquor

he frequents a gaming cafe and knows all the staff by name but is too embarrassed to be seen in front of other people , so it rents out the whole cafe when it wants to go

hiiro has 3 cats and they are all Huge

after he Reappeared hiiro actually reconnected w his sisters and visits them as often as possible . Its not very affectionate at all though

i actually made his voice claim miyashita yuu . the songs where hes louder and yelling r more what i was thinking at the time , but i think miyayuu's soft speaking voice works as well

all the sleeves on their sweaters are slightly tethered and frayed because he fidgets with them while working . the right sleeve is more torn than the left

he doodles in his free time and has posted a couple oneshots on obscure manga forums . they dont keep up with them but one of them ended up getting really popular

hiiro Loves scifi . his entire apartment is decorated in super lame and obscure scifi anime posters and figures

I gotta be honest I really didn't like how...how Beige the majority of outfits at the met were this year (I had my favorites ofcourse I'm not blind) but the way it was taken so literally with "Garden of Time". Like, excuse me? This is supposed to Show us the beautiful And Game changing pieces and trends that made fashion what it is and bringing those silhouettes and designs Back!

I want Color, I want Textures, I want Whimsy! I chucked up my own little designs of what I would have personally done. My main inspirations where The 50's Dior collections, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood (which should be next year's theme fight me) and Charles Dana Gibson's "Gibson girl". I wanted the silhouettes to be delicate yet dramatic, the Extravagant, garden party like hats with birds in them mixed into the Loose yet put together hair do's. Another thing is I wanted Bows, which always adds an extra level of class yet fun. These are mostly scribbles but is a basic concept of what I had in mind:

I want ruffles and layers with a princess bride meets Labrynth type of fantasy vibe. These obviously aren't the colors I'd use (expet very dusty blues and other shades of that nature, maybe ballerina pinks and greens. I envision this with Pat mcgrath type makeup since it helps sell the untouchable porcelain doll aesthetic I usually go for.)

So many talented people are working for brands that have changed the game and you give me BEIGE and Florals? I feel like Miranda Priestly "Florals in spring? Groundbreaking"

Saw your sonic timeline

Not trying to bash your timeline, complain or say you're wrong or anything, I just have a few questions just to understand. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

1-why is Sonic 1-GG before sonic 1-MD?

2-I understand why SegaSonic and Tails Adventure could take place at the same time, but why are they and sonic 2-GG between CD and sonic 2-MD?

3-why is chaos between 2 and 3? Doesn't 3 start right after 2?

4-I understand Skypatrol and Labyrinth taking place at the same time but how is knuckles chaotix also around the same time?

5-why is advance between Sa1(+shuffle) and Sa2?

6-If 06 rewrote itself (aka back to the future type of time travel), then how does generations create a split timeline? Can the time eater split timelines?

BTW I could still be wrong so feel free to correct me.

The Sonic 1 Japanese Manual establishes that Sonic and Eggman have had conflicts before, the events of the Genesis game are NOT their first encounter. And the japanese manual also says that Eggman started shoving animals into his robots specifically as a fuck you to Sonic, turning all his friends on the island into his enemies. So considering the Master system/Game Gear version of Sonic 1 has robot enemies that animals do NOT pop out of when you destroy them and also how the first boss of the first stage of Sonic 1 MS/GG is just Eggman trying to ram into Sonic with his Egg Mobile with no weapon attachments, to me it makes sense to say some version of the Master System/Game Gear games events happened before the MegaDrive/Genesis games events.

Sonic CD takes place inbetween Sonic 1 and Sonic 2, something I felt was true even before Sonic Origins came out and confirmed that placement. I personally feel like the events depicted in the Master System/Game Gear version of Sonic 2 make more sense to have happened before Sonic 2 Megadrive/Genesis. Because the plot is Tails being kidnapped and needing to be rescued, so it feels like a more satisfying character arc for Tails to go from damsel to side kick.

When it comes to the Game Gear versions of Sonic 1 and 2 you kind of have to fudge the details a bit because they were not created with the intention of being different stories, but alternate versions of the same story. And also Sonic 2 MS/GG takes place on South Island which is impossible for several reasons lol.

There is an implied passage of time inbetween Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 insofaras Sonic did not IMMEDIATELY just into the Tornado and fly off for Angel Island - the Japanese manual says that he was chilling on a beach and finding washed up artifacts that made him think of an old legend about a lost island, and it was Tails telling him about readings he got on some sonar machine that inspired them to fly off. Eggman is supposed to be more or less trapped on Angel Island sure, but frankly nothing is stopping him from just leaving the island if he wants. The only reason he's sticking around is because that's where the Death Egg crashed, and he wants to repair repower and launch it again. So to me the events of Sonic Chaos could be squeezed in between those two games.

For Sonic Labyrinth Tails Skypatrol and Knuckles Chaotix I just kind of like the idea that Sonic Tails and Knuckles all were off having their own personal independent adventure all at the same time. It feels appropriate that their solo adventures happened simultaneously. Sonic and Tails show up for the ending screen of Chaotix but they're not in the game proper, so they could easily have just flown over after finishing their own games, especially considering Chaotix is just so much Longer of a game than Labrynth and skypatrol.

Advance very clearly takes place after Sonic Adventure since it features Amy in her new red dress design, and it does NOT feature any of the new characters that show up in Adventure 2. So it feels right that it's nestled between the Adventure games. Advance 2 introduces Cream the rabbit before her appearance in Heroes, so that's why that game seems right to take place before Heroes which is after Sonic Adventure 2. Also based on the release dates of the games themselves.

I go back and forth on Sonic 06 but personally I still feel like my justifications for why it should be considered an alternate timeline hold water: Eggman's design is IMPOSSIBLE to explain and NO I do not accept "art style change, non-canon" as an excuse. And Elise having had one of the chaos emeralds in her possession for TEN YEARS literally makes every single game that happens before the events of 06 impossible. Seriously that chaos emerald Silver leaves with Elise that she has in her possession at the beginning of the game is a god damn time paradox in and of itself. Blaze being in Silver's future only to then end up being a native of the Sol dimension is the only thing that could have a plausible Single Timeline explanation but even that is like. Kind of lame, in my opinion. It really undercuts the emotional impact of Blaze's death scene to say that her sacrificing herself to seal Iblis away was ACTUALLY just sending her to be reincarnated in an alternate dimension to be born and grow up as a princess. That's some "Bardock didn't actually die from Freeza's death ball he was actually sent back in time and became the first Super Sayian" shit.

To me the idea that Sonic 06 was an alternate timeline, and the events of Generations and the Time Eater just spliced them into the primary timeline by doing some fourth dimensional timeline fuckery. Battle of Red Mountain style. Sonic Mania spinning off from the events of Sonic Generations because Past Versions of Sonic and Eggman receiving knowledge of future events and that changes their fate is also my natural conclusion, though Sonic Superstars kind of puts a monkey wrench in that. It's a lot easier to wrap your head around if you just consider time non-linearly though.

Battle at Gardens Gate by Greta Van Fleet - fucking bangers front to back, this album makes me Feel Things

Self-iSH by Will Wood and The Tape Worms - i found this one looking for songs for Lazarus, a few of them have ended up on his playlist! It's got such a strong Vibe, really really good for when you just need to get something Out Of You if that makes sense?

Wolfmother by Wolfmother - An album i've listend to since I was far too young to be listening to it. Every song slaps. Joker and the theif was the stand out on the charts but Dimension, White Unicorn, and Minds Eye all go SO much harder. There's a drum line in Minds Eye that is So Good I gotta do a big shimmy shake stim whenever i hear it

Look Up by The Altogether - this EP only comes out during February and march, it's got a special kind magic too it, it is the feeling of spring and melting and waking up becoming new.

I would be remiss of course to not mention Green Day's American Idiot, an album that is Incredibly special to me, but Top 5 speaks more to Favourites in my mind? And i think sometimes there's a difference between Special and Favourite (that is to say nothing of its quality, it's a good ass album)

Top 5 Films; in a very specific order

1. Labrynth - Just my all time favourite movie, I watch it every year on birthday over dinner, it's inspired and influenced me an incredible amount sincr I first saw it.

2. School of Rock - I haven't seen it in some time but it sits in a special little place in my heart, just... a deeply comforting lil movie!

3. Hocus Pocus - I once watched this movie with my best friend and she said, to the best of my memory; "I think I understand why you are the way you are now"

4. The Mummy & The Mummy 2- Classics!!! Excellent films!!! The premise of egyptian exploration in like that 1920's era issssss a problem admittedly but fuck if these movies aren't very good!

Street Dance of China S4 Ep 3

(I’m having problems with Tumblr not saving my posts...)

- Oh no people are going to start getting eliminated! :o Well, I’m still really glad that we had two whole episodes of people just dancing and having fun and getting the opportunity to showcase who they are and how they dance.

- This question just occurred to me, but where do people look when they watch dance performances? As I watched the Go Go Brothers, I was thinking to myself, “Where do I look? If I look at one of them, I might miss what the other Brother is doing!” Just my musings lol.

- I am super shallow but people tripping makes me laugh, so yes, Nelson accidentally tripping did make me chuckle. (+ Rochka’s reaction)

- Yibo and Yixing discussing the SDOC theme song. It made me laugh because the lyrics are kind of hype but Yibo and Yixing aren’t exactly the most facially expressive people lol.

- After every performance Henry’d be like “let’s collaborate!!!!!!” Han Geng finally stepped in being like aight Henry you gotta take it easy on the recruitment because we’ve literally only seen three performances. I’m still not really sure of the format of the show from now on, so I’m not sure if they form new teams afterwards.

- Yixing was so guilty about not giving Bouboo a vote.

- Rochka’s shock @ Boubou not getting four votes.

- He’s ashamed.

- I think if a dancer gets less than 4 votes, then other dancers are allowed to challenge them for a spot to advance, but whoever loses is eliminated out of the tournament, so you have to be super confident to challenge. And if a dancer only gets 1 or 2 votes, they are eliminated.

- Yibo asked Rochka why he wouldn’t challenge Bouboo and Rochka said he’d never go against his teacher/big brother v.v They exchanged hearts but then Rochka pretended to throw the heart away and crush it lol.

- While I was expecting a bit more from Bouboo, I don’t think his challenger JC Jun was better than him. JC Jun was kind of wobbly, and I think his dance didn’t match the music as well as Bouboo’s did.

- Yixing had his head down when he voted for Ibuki too, so I think he just gets nervous about voting.

- Henry wanted to say that Ibuki was like lightning but he said the word for a flashing light/disco light and Han Geng wanted to give him shit for it.

- Yixing said that he thought AC’s waacking almost felt like krump.Yixing said that if he was to collaborate with AC, AC should do the arm swing, and Yixing would do the waacking lol. I am all for seeing Yixing doing more dance styles! Not gonna lie, I think he’d look cute doing waacking.

- Ye Yin’s performance was really nice! The music was unique and the way he danced, with the tap dance and folk-like elements really suited it.

- Rochka said he wants to know Ye Yin more and said they also have the same smile.

- Xiao Jie said he’d never battle Ye Yin but he got peer pressured by the captains into freestyling to Ye Yin’s self-produced song lol.

- To show face, you know? The entire time he was like “but this doesn’t count, okay?!!!!” since he wasn’t actually challenging Ye Yin, and it was just for funsies.

- The judges were a bit troubled by Xiaoming’s performance because at the end, he was supposed to fall but his fall wasn’t coordinated with the sound effect in the music. Xiaoming was like yeah, it’s pretty difficult but I’m hoping that my challenger wouldn’t be able to get it too and Yixing was laughing his goose laugh. But Xiaoming was eliminated with zero votes in the end.

- Kelo and Uwa had a horror mental hospital-themed dance which was interesting. Kelo said it was based on a nightmare he had as a child.

- Yang Kai wasn’t impressed though. He said he’d performed something similar with Liangliang before. He felt that Kelo and Uwa were performing but not really dancing. I can see where he’s coming from. Kelo and Uwa got three votes.

- Xiaohai ended up challenging them. He used the wheelchair too but like...somehow his expression just makes us unable to not laugh.

- I think he did really well considering he’d only heard the music once. And he returned to the wheelchair at the end of the performance lmfao

- Apparently when Xiaohai was looking up at the beginning, he was asking Li Yulong (who I assume is the person in charge of the music) for music cues but Li Yulong just laughed at him lol.

- Yibo basically said that Kelo and Uwa’s performance felt a bit abrupt in the story telling side, and that there weren’t really highs and lows to their performance.

- Rochka was talking crap about Bouboo behind his back and Yibo tattled which resulted in Rochka getting whacked in the face.

- Zyko taught Yibo and Rochka how to do his fancy leg moves.

- Yixing talking krump with Auju. Auju was like you’re really good for someone who’s only been learning for a year, but then Yixing was like, I practise 6 hours a day and Auju was like ?!?!

- Zyko + Henry (with Henry’s infamous “getting down while playing violin” move)

- Poppin’C introduced himself, saying he was from Italy and Switzerland, and Yibo and Yixing were thinking of all the things from Italy they knew. Yibo was like “...Valentino Rossi...” and Yixing was like “....pizza.....” These two spacey twinks istg.

- Anyway, Poppin’C’s performance was nice. Not only were his moves clean and impressive, but he also expressed the lyrics through his dance.

- Rochka fanboying over Poppin’C’s dance :P At one point, the lyrics were about hearts, and Poppin’C did some moves where he made a heart and Rochka here is saying how cute it was.

- Poppin’C said he missed his daughter and everybody’s like ?? a baby??? :3 :3 :3

- Also, I saw Uwa in the audience, so I think that the eliminated contestants get to continue watching.

- Poppin’C said that before, he was more fierce, but now that he has a daughter, he’s a little smoother and sweeter :3 Also he was describing that the singer’s voice in the song made his skin feel like chicken and everybody was like ??? Luckily Yixing saved the day lol. In Chinese, goose bumps are called “chicken pimples” or something like that.

- Bozi was next. In his introduction, Bozi said he was from Guangzhou, and maybe that’s why it sounded like so many people in the audience were pronouncing 波子 in Cantonese.

- Eleven said something very interesting about B-boys. He said that in their profession of dance, they don’t fear b-boys who can do tricks, but they fear b-boys who can listen to music. I think it’s a reference to the fact that b-boys are often doing their own thing and disregard the music, which makes sense. Sometimes b-boys are closer to gymnasts because they are so focused on the spins and other really athletic moves they do. But because their moves are so difficult, they sometimes don’t move to the music which is supposed to be the point of dancing.

- Bozi passed with 4 votes. And he did a bit of krump at the beginning, which Yixing admitted he fell for haha. Bozi said that Eleven helped him choreograph that part, so it’s Eleven who knows Yixing well >3

- The director asked Bozi who he thought his biggest b-boy rival on the show was. Of course, we all thought he was going to say Lil Kev, but he ended up saying Xiaoji and Xiaoji was like ?? me?? Bozi’s reasoning was that he’s more troubled by dancers with a different style from him because he doesn’t know how to beat them. From the small clips they showed, I think Xiaoji has a more animated style, whereas Bozi is more serious and reserved.

- Acky-san cheering on MT Pop lol. (”Embarrassing dad at baseball game” mode activate)

- MT Pop has really impressed me in the competition so far though. The way he moves is so cool and creative. I think he purposely goes for a kind of...monster vibe? Like he often has this creepy smile on his face lol. He’s not only dancing, but he’s using popping techniques to change how he moves entirely, including simple things like walking or how he turns his head. I think MT Pop is my favourite contestant.

- He said the monster from Pan’s Labrynth inspired this dance. So I guess I was kind of right that he does draw inspiration from monsters and other creatures.

- Low key mad at Han Geng for not giving MT Pop his vote lol. Geng-ge said he wanted to give someone a chance to challenge. Of all people, why MT Pop?? I don’t want him to goooo.

- Henry wanted to try doing the voiceover for the challenger and Han Geng indulged his overdramatic ass.

- Baby Dolphin challenged. He had some cool moves at the beginning, but I think he fell apart a bit towards the end, based on the judges’ reactions (as we didn’t see the full performance). Plus, I think MT Pop’s approach to dancing is just too unique and interesting to eliminate at this point.

- Kabamba had an interesting performance that had African and Latin influences, with big and energetic movements. Tianci challenged but he went with a general hip hop approach which did not suit the music at all. (I looked up Kabamba. Her name is Latrice Kabamba, but she also goes by 林珊娜 on her social media, which is why she’s sometimes called Nana on the show).

- Acky-san was repeating everything that people were saying around him. Stuff like jiayou!! and other words of encouragement. Dianmen who was sitting next to him was just lol’ing.

- Ma Xiaolong was performing to a song called 棋 and this word usually refers to any kind of board game. Ma Xiaolong’s first moves looked like he was putting pieces on a board and you just know that kind of stuff draws Yixing’s attention right away.

- I think Kenken’s style of dance is the kind of dance that the general public would really enjoy. Whereas some kinds of dance don’t really appeal to people who aren’t into dance, I think Kenken’s kind of dance will attract both the dance-conscious people as well as those who aren’t. I definitely got that vibe from him in the dance that he choreographed, and also his individual performance.

- Not even gonna question this. Perfection. Rochka catboy here we go.

- Okay, I agree with Colin’s performance not making the cut. Based on his introduction, he was supposed to be a popping expert, but his dance didn’t showcase that. His dance was more of a contemporary dance piece, but while we’ve had performances similar to that, his choreography didn’t stand out in comparison. After his performance he had a bit of a cry. Yixing mentioned that it was hard to judge because of the emotional aspect. But admittedly, this emotional stuff is usually the reason why I don’t like competition shows. It was revealed that Colin had lost his grandfather. Now, I’m going to sound cold, but I don’t like it when sob stories are brought in, because it makes us feel bad when we don’t like a piece of art that comes from very pure intentions. Yixing’s reasoning for not giving a vote was that he felt that the emotions overshadowed the dance, which is a problem because this is a show about dance. Han Geng’s reasoning was that he felt that the skill level could have been better. Yibo was quite moved by the performance, and I think that’s why he gave his vote to Colin.

Platformer Idea Elevator Pitch

The intention was supposed to be that these would be weekly posts, but the checkpoint for my blog is tomorrow, and I only started yesterday...

So in last week`s blog post, I talked about making games, probably (I mean a weekspan is longer than my 3 collective braincells can think back to). This week, I`ll be sharing the elevator pitch I had for a new 2D platform game.

Most original game ideas aren`t complete without ripping off a pre-established concept, and for my game idea, I ”took inspiration” from a pre-existing puzzle-platformer, vvvvvv. 

In 6v`s, your character can`t jump, however the player is given the ability to reverse gravity while the playable character is touching the ground. For my game idea, I thought of taking that concept, along with the exploration-based metroidvania layout and expanding the gameplay, to be more fast pased and dynamic. In my game, the player will be able to change gravity towards all 4 edges of the screen, instead of just up and down, they also will be given the ability to change gravity mid-air to increase the amount and variety of obsticals in the gameworld. I haven`t thought of a context for the game yet, but the main goal will be to escape from the labrynth, likely involving mini-objectives that make exploring mandatory. This week`s textbook readings were all about the various methods of prototyping for different games like battleship and up the river and how your game can benefit from a propotype variant that allows the creator to more easily brainstorm the final product. They also explain how irl prototypes of games are sometimes laid out on diaramas with figures representing the characters, to better get an understanding of the map layout and the player/enemy abilities. Various other graphs are also employed to show the relationship between aspects of the player and aspects of the game, e.g. what money in a game can be used for, which helps to visualise the core gameplay loop. Along with physical prototype examples, digital prototypes were also shown by the textbook to be even more in-depth, allowing for the testing of other aspects, like animations, UI, controls or how the camera is positioned. The textbook also brings attention to various other irl methods that can test aspects like control scheme or camera angles.

My internship with IFortis Corporate

An Internship is the most crucial time in a sophomore’s career journey because that is when they start getting a taste of the industry and start honing their skills to excel in the corporate world. I am Soumik Banerjee and I am currently pursuing my BBA. It goes without saying that Internships are a core influencing factor when it comes to getting hired for jobs (good jobs at MNCs).

Because no blue chip company will hire you without any experiences in the industry. And in order to gain experience you should intern with small startups at least 3-5 companies during the time of your course, is what I personally believe. These days there are a lot of platforms where you can apply for an internship with several companies but at the same time it is also very difficult these days to find a decent internship. However, I was lucky enough to find a decent Sales and Marketing internship with IFORTIS CORPORATE through LinkedIn.

On 30th May I received the internship offer letter from my Reporting Manager/ HR, Leandra Pinto. She explained to me about the company and how it offers services in Information technology, Corporate training and Event Management in Bangalore, India. Also that currently Ifortis is organizing India’s first and largest school fiesta – STEP AHEAD

The event for which I was hired is called STEP AHEAD. . This is a virtual festival exclusively for school children from all over the world to showcase their talent and win attractive prizes. There were contests like story-telling, slam poetry, photography, art competition, speech contest, dance competition, singing competition, talent show, fancy dress, science contests, and even gaming competition- Fortnite. I was very excited to work on this project because there was a chance for almost every school child to participate and showcase their talent on an international platform and get their talent noticed.

Today I started looking at themes and ideas on what I could do for my project. I think the main issue that I have is that I dont have a starting point to base it from. In that I have to pick my own which I didnt for the previous 3 projects. I am going to New York in a months time so I could perhaps base my project on that, however I dont think there is much I could do that hasnt already been done -or at least that is interesting. I guess that is where the creativity plays a part, so developing something based on NY will be a challenge. 

Regardless, I started to brainstorm a bunch of complete random themes and ideas, or at least the ones that piqued my interest. I again looked at existing artwork, both digital and traditional. I did this for inspiration and ideas, as this helps me brainstorm by looking at existing creations. The main issue with not having a starting point is that I cant visualise how I plan for it to look, which I usually am quite good at, or at least is how i usually brainstorm.

I decided to sleep on the ideas and themes, generally I like to do this so that my brain can start generating ideas. I often have ideas and things pop into my head when im in the shower or about to sleep, so doing this can often help. However this time I had no luck, it was only when I started procrastinating from doing work that I stumbled on an idea to do a hidden world. My main inspiration behind this from watching the trailers for black panther. I thought that the world looked incredible and unique and I especially liked how it incorportaed heavy themes of African culture. This I thought could link in well with NY as I could have a hidden world inside NY. I cannot watch Black panther yet as it isnt out, but when i get the opportunity I think it will help me tremendously.

Today I started looking into existing movies that use the idea of a hidden world. I wanted to get a b etter understanding on how they handle this concept of having a world right under our noses. A world that is hidden in plain sight. I think this idea is the direction I want to take as I can incorporate NY into it or base the world in NY/ have the gateway to the world in NY.

I looked at things like Kong which had an undiscovered island, things like Alice in wonderland + Narnia which had an alternate universe but to get to the main character had to go through something like a wardrobe or rabbit hole. However the things that stood out to me were Pan’s labrynth, Fantastic beasts and Spirited away.

Pan’s had a really unique way in which the alternate world was almost a reflected version of the main characters reality but in a twisted way. It also included a lot of references to many artistic things such as the painting of saturn devouring his son. Fantastic beasts was also based in NY, but in the victorian era. I thought that the magical world had a lot of flaws, but the movie was enjoyable and I really liked the creature designs. Finally spirited away, my favourite of the selection. I really liked the overall charm of this movie and world. I think that was from a combination of the character designs, colour palate and music. I also liked its interesting take on the afterlife and what spirits/people do when they die and thought it was an innocent and unique way of showing what they do. It didnt just show the afterlife, but showed a small aspect of their everyday life. perhaps in my work I will try and base it on the afterlife, but I defintely want to do something Ghibli related.
