Our session has 12 people, all adults if that matters, and I believe our session ID is 478229. Our Heir of Light player is not a native English speaker. They can read and write in English decently, but speech is not very easy for them to comprehend. We all set our preferred language to English in the settings, and they selected their native language. However, all consorts aside from theirs are stuck speaking in English, and we haven't been able to get subtitles on. Is there a translation option?

The Session Host (usually the first Server Player) should have access to the Session Settings and in the "co-op" there should be a ticked box "audio fidelity". Untick that and everyone will hear all sounds i their preferred language.

Note that once you reach the Underworld, you will understand the Angels' screeching, which results in high Angelight Charge.

(1) In the background of a time lapse still life painting Robin posted of Steve sleeping on the couch. You don’t even see him but it’s implied that he is actually asleep on the couch behind Robin’s easel. She doesn’t even paint his face because he’s facing away from her, but people are still in her comments lusting after him.

She responds to all the horny comments with an unedited clip of the time lapse where you can hear Steve’s godawful snoring

(2) Someone posted a video of Steve clearly striking out with a girl at a bar like, ‘Found the Chicago Man.’

Steve shoots her fingerguns as she leaves and the whole comment section is like: oooooh, he’s bisexual.

(3) In the background of someone filming their lunch. Steve walks past on the phone with Dustin like, “Does knowing ASL make me bilingual? …well, it’s not exactly a spoken language, is it?… yes, it’s for the dog walking application. There could be deaf dogs… deaf dogs who speak American Sign Language… I completely forgot I knew Italian actually.”

(4) Some weirdo posts a Tiktok where they’re like, “Every night I get off work and see this guy making out with a different hot girl on the subway.”

Lots of people in the comment section are rightfully calling this guy a creep. Robin is too but she’s also like, “God forbid a hoe celebrate his dad having a heart attack. Can’t do shit in this city anymore.”

Alastor doesn't actually know that much French canonically! In addition, it'd be French-creole rather than normal French if he did speak it fluently!

While I like the idea of him speaking a different language fluently, the thought of him having a hard time learning another language and having to read children's books and sound out the words is a very sweet idea. Particularly if he does so because his mother is able to speak the language just fine. Rise up for Alastor not knowing and having difficulties learning another language but he tries his best! Seriously this could be a fun and relatable aspect of his character that too many people are missing out on in favor of him speaking normal French fluently.

Danny Fenton, aka Phantom, has been given a new task!

In short, literally no one in the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms wants their mostly peaceful afterlife to be rocked by a certain Gotham rogue named Joker. Which, when he dies, is almost sure to happen because of whatever the hell was in that vat he dropped in included ectoplasm. So, yay, he’s also a little ghostly too, meaning he *is* pretty hard to kill. Unfortunately, there’s also a certain vigilante that is quite keen to murder him in recent years.

So now Danny has to keep the mass murderer trauma clown alive for as long as he possibly can while attempting to keep the Joker from. Well. Being the Joker.

Oh, and naturally, Danny got this assignment AFTER Joker got out of Arkham. Again. And entirely blew up the asylum. Time to join the Goonion, he is NOT doing this without getting PAID, thank you.

I have been playing this game for... a while. I always understood the words, if not the meaning behind them, even when dealing with actual fucking aliens which have no logical right to be speaking English. I didn't even think there WERE language settings, figured it was some sort of ambient universal translation nonsense and I never saw them when fucking around with the regular settings. Unfortunately, I now need help finding them, as everything (other than the players) has switched to Dutch for some fucking reason.

Open the menu and click Instellingen -> Algemeen -> Taal; then scroll to find your preferred language.

I want to marry the Costume Designer that worked on Andor s2. The Ghorman costumes were exquisitely designed, cut, and tailored. The mix of French & Soviet WW2 inspired silhouettes, the colours!! The French revolution vibes! The resisting facism vibes! Workers rights! All incorporated into the costumes!!! The cut of the costumes being explicitly Star Wars—the Japanese & Chinese inspired asymmetrical cut, and long lines, but wholly distinct— you CAN TELL it's the capitol of fabric production !! The quality is shown in the cut and weave of fabric rather than the fancy trim and patterns! If you worked in Costume on Andor s2, I'm kissing you on the mouth.

Polyglot Checklist for Setting Reasonable Language-Learning Goals for 2025:

List out your languages (main(s), target(s), side(s), etc.).

Write 1-3 main areas of focus, project ideas, books to read, films to watch, studies to complete for each language. If you have more than 3, you might list 3 main and 1-3 side aspects you would like to focus on. If you are unsure what to focus on, consider your strengths, weaknesses and as of yet unexplored topics related to the language or culture in specific, then choose 1-3 aspects which speak to your interests the most (regardless of whether they are connected to your strenths, weaknesses or the unexplored).

After making your list, view the points you've listed en masse. Rank the activities in order of most-to-least intersting or most-to-least crucial to your studies and long-term aims.

Now, look at each point again. Ask yourself: how long would it take me to complete this task if it were in my native language? How long if I had C2 level? B2 level? A2? Ask yourself: given my current knowledge base/level, usage (vocabulary + grammar + accuracy with or without resources), and access to the materials required to engage with these points/aspects, how long would it take me to prepare, collect resources, study, and practise/learn the skills/vocabulary/grammar required to engage with each of these points?

Ask yourself: Is my focus something that requires time in order to achieve? Is this skill a grape on a vine to be ripened? Is it a bottle to be cracked open? (For example: If, say, your goal is to write a short story in your target language and you already have a working knowledge of sentence structure and the tenses most required to write fiction in that language, you may be working with a bottle. Expanding your vocabulary/range of expression in order to improve your writing in that case is simply adding spice to mull the wine. But if you are still in the growing phase, your skills hang as grapes you must cultivate in a rich soil. Tend to them first.)

Use this reflection to help you reconsider your list, but do not do away with it entirely. These are interests which you may return to at a later time or in a future level.

Ask yourself (whether you like to focus on one task/language or more at a given time): what are reasonable expectations for me to have for myself, my time, my learning and my output at my current level and considering all my other interests and obligations?

As much as I adore conlangs, I really like how the Imperial Radch books handle language. The book is entirely in English but you're constantly aware that you're reading a "translation," both of the Radchaai language Breq speaks as default, and also the various other languages she encounters. We don't hear the words but we hear her fretting about terms of address (the beloathed gendering on Nilt) and concepts that do or don't translate (Awn switching out of Radchaai when she needs a language where "citizen," "civilized," and "Radchaai person" aren't all the same word) and noting people's registers and accents. The snatches of lyrics we hear don't scan or rhyme--even, and this is what sells it to me, the real-world songs with English lyrics, which get the same "literal translation" style as everything else--because we aren't hearing the actual words, we're hearing Breq's understanding of what they mean. I think it's a cool way to acknowledge linguistic complexity and some of the difficulties of multilingual/multicultural communication, which of course becomes a larger theme when we get to the plot with the Presgar Translators.
