Huh, I was under the impression Annapurna's *executives* all stomped off 'cuz they wanted to do things AAA style.
No, the entire video game division of company left due to actions and choices of the owner Megan Ellison. This was because the gaming division wanted to split off as a more independent firm.
Megan Ellison, for full disclosure, is the daughter of Larry Ellison who is a multibillionare who owns 98% of Lānaʻi in Hawaii... an island in which the entire family spent all of the main original peaks COVID on to be away from other people.
Further facts: Megan owns Annapurna and her brother David owns SkyDance.

RENO, Nev. — U.S. District Judge Larry Hicks, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush in 2001, died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle in Nevada. He was 80.
The Reno Police Department was called to a vehicle-pedestrian crash near the federal courthouse in downtown Reno at about 2:15 p.m. Hicks was transported to the hospital but died just after, authorities said.
The driver involved in the crash remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, authorities added. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Officials paid tribute to Hick, who was remembered for his love of his family and Reno community.
"Today’s news regarding the Honorable Judge Larry R. Hicks who served Nevada for over 53 years is tragic," Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said on X. "Despite his notable accomplishments, Judge Hicks once stated, 'My greatest thrill in life is my family.' His life philosophy was based on a balance of family, work, and self."
“Larry Hicks was a one-of-a-kind man, revered in our community and, most importantly, beloved by his family. On behalf of my family and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest condolences to Larry’s son Chris, the current District Attorney, and all of Larry’s family. Judge Hicks’ legacy will forever be noted in Washoe County.”
On Wednesday night, the District Attorney's Office released a statement on behalf of the Hicks family:
"Today, our community lost an extraordinary man. Judge Larry Hicks was a deeply admired lawyer and judge, a devoted friend, mentor, and a committed servant to the administration of justice. To us, he was first and foremost a man who put nothing before family. He was a hero in all manners, a loving husband of nearly 59 years, a doting dad, an adoring Papa, and brother. His loss is beyond comprehension."
District attorney, judge, family man
Hicks was a former Washoe County district attorney and the father of Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks.
In a video interview with his son in 2022, the judge talked about the quality he was most proud of that he got from his parents: "Devotion to family above and beyond all other qualities. My mother and father were totally dedicated to their children."
In the interview, Hicks said he and his wife, with whom he also had two daughters, would be celebrating their 57th anniversary.
Hicks was born in Evanston, Ohio, and his family moved to Reno from Los Angeles when he was 13. He graduated from Reno High School and became the first person in his family to attend college when he entered the University of Nevada, where he joined Sigma Nu fraternity, according to the interview.
In 2020, Chris Hicks posted a tribute to his father after he won an award.
"Recently, the State Bar of Nevada honored my dad, Judge Larry Hicks, with the Presidential Award recognizing his illustrious career," Chris Hicks wrote. "The prestigious award is presented to those whose conduct, honesty, and integrity represent the highest standards of the legal profession.
"Congratulations Dad. There is no one more deserving! Thank you for being the father, mentor, and lawyer you are."
Earlier this month, Hicks presided over a private investigator's lawsuit that claimed Sparks police detectives violated his rights by naming him as the person who put a tracking device on Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve's vehicle.
Hicks called David McNeely's argument "unpersuasive and unsupported" and dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning a similar lawsuit cannot be refiled.
The U.S. District Court said flags over the federal courthouses in Nevada will be flown at half-staff in honor of Hicks.

You're being INTERROGATED cordi
Godddd emily doing it by herself cuz Cordi's not around 👀👀👀👀👀👀

Always there when i need you// funny how that always just seems to happen

Oooh jfc are these like. Hypnosis techniques to get info out of cordi 👀
"Give him a little grace" ARE THEY STILL THINKING HE'S JUST GONE OFF BY HIMSELF

DAVID IS SHOT. FUCKING KNEW IT
Godddd lunaaaa
I knew it would happen but jfccc
WHERE IS THE GUYYYYY
Omfggg i can't believe it ended like that (well i can but goddddd)
Ok I have to rewatch lol
Restarting the ep
The fading in and out of blurry emily and solid emily 👀👀
Cordi picking out what he's gonna wear to his funeral hahhh
The way they used that "the dogs'll get out" line twice I'm like 👀👀👀👀 where are the dogs irl
Bonham's daughter line has me like 👀👀👀👀 like I'm not a trans!cordell truther or anything actually but 👀👀👀👀👀 but then there's also like... he could be geri's dad instead of davidson or something lololol the way this drama goes
Please, was it a throwaway quip or did it mean something lol
Cuz it's all what Cordi's brain is doing
I can't tell if they're doing the blurry memory thing on the scene with Hoyt at the piano, or if it's just the backlighting from the window tripping my astigmatism lolol
"You were never exactly...IN it"
The way Hoyt is doing the event business with abby instead of liam and ben 👀👀👀 i guess it serves 2 purposes: bringing hoyt into the fold and also not replacing ben with uh... s1 fiance whose name i can't remember
Here we are with doubled up commercials again...febreze commercial that's ALSO a charmin commercial lolol
The little touch of Cordell's ranger bag on the luggage bench
Omg i just noticed cordell took one of the poker chips and pocketed it 👀👀
"Have i taken you for granted?" 🥺🥺🥺🥺
"Is that how you felt"
If sam and dean were sitting on that bench, their legs would be touching lol
The ranch looks so cozy godd. I want my outside to be cozy
Imagine Sam as Cordi being especially confused and off kilter in this because this isn't even his life. These aren't the faces that he should see. 👀👀👀👀
"I feel like i missed it" BECAUSE *YOU* DID 👀👀
Larry calling Cordell's obsession "going down the rabbit hole" makes me think of that post about all the brown in the ep where larry gave him the journal
Ok y'know i FELT like the beginning of the funeral scene was inside the ranger station, and now i see i was right lolol. That's the parking lot outside. That's the lobby...
Cordell not knowing if he missed Stella's graduation in this universe and still no one will answer his questions
God this is just what it feels like to be in and out of sedation godddd
"Feel like we keep talking past each other" just what sedation feels likkkkkkkke
Also gotta say how happy i am to get a "stella blue" in here
Goddd all the emily feels. "You are so brave. You are just like your dad." "I am so sick of people saying that." 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
"I'm so sick of missing you" goddddd
"Just keep breathing" hahhhhhh I'm like is it the captors giving instructions, or Emily's ghost keeping him fighting.
The way hoyt and emily are the only ones beside cordi when august starts his speech
Goddddd kale's tears 😭😭😭😭
Stella's arm on augie. God he's so tall
Liam 🥺🥺🥺 and hoyt helping him through
Stella wearing red in this group of black and emily's lightcolored dress (cuz she's the ghost)
MY STELLACORDI AMBITIONS
Have i ever told you you're my best friend -- felt like they should've kissed or something tbh lol
Also i didn't mention it earlier, but the way the chairs changed from white to black 👌
Goddd "i made promises and then i left" *looks up like he's surrendering to god tbh* show us your vulnerable neck, boy
Goddddd the way luna gets caught right after cassie DOESN'T say ilu
"You were always afraid of the quiet" "cuz i was afraid of what it meant" *opens casket like he's about to accept death*
Emily telling him to fight istg it's her ghost
Also, they brought digoxin antidote but not a shovel? Lol
CORDI'S MOUTH FULL OF DIRT 👁👄👁
The way cassie's words to luna echo Emily's to cordell, and luna dies 👀👀👀
God i can't believe I have to wait another week. There are only 2 left goddd 😭😭

Not long after getting back on his feet David received a letter from an Army buddy.
Congrats on getting out. I hope life on the home front is as jolly as I remember it. Us slums out here in the trenches are carrying on, chipper as always. I don’t write only to chide you, though. I remember some time ago you had mentioned you’d settled down in Strangerville with your family and I have a favor to ask of you. You see, old friend, my wife Janet and our daughter Shirley- she must be just your son’s age- have just moved there. My pension and Janet’s inheritance gave us enough to afford a house that can’t be far from yours. I only ask that you look out for them while I’m away, make sure they have someone to turn to. I’m sure our children could be marvelous friends if given a nudge in the right direction, though I admit Shirl inherited my stubbornness. Dave, thank you for this, I owe you a drink when this war is over and done with.
Dear Dave old pal,
Your friend,
“Foxhole” Frank Hudson
David took it upon himself to visit the address Frank had sent along, which was conveniently in the same neighborhood as his own. The house was pristine and modern, even more so than his own, and Janet had done an excellent job decorating the inside up to the latest fashions.
Dave brought Larry along with him, dumping him off in the den to get to know Shirley.
Larry was a fairly social boy and never struggled making friends, but Shirley seemed somehow skeptical of him. It was as though nothing he said quite impressed her or even interested her, but it seemed their fathers were set on their friendship, so Larry continued to try his best.

Batgirls #14 Review
After so long, after so much waiting (and hyping), Batgirls #14 was released this week. So let me dig into it at last.
Let me start off (again) for those who didn't on the visual element where the silent issue started, G.I. Joe #21 by Larry Hama (with Steve Leialoha inking and George Roussos coloring).
The issue was the benchmark for telling a story without any words. Really, I think it's something other comic historians can tell in more detail in itself.
Surprisingly Barbara beat Cass to the punch in even attaining one as the character had one in Batgirl: Endgame #1 back in 2015 during the middle of the Burnside Era.
There are a lot of visual cues that the issue shares with Batgirl #14 (there are onomatopoeias and there is "cheating" as well with Babs using a phone along (using emojis to correspond with Frankie and find Tiffany Fox) and one-word balloon (at the very end).
Overall, it's probably (for me) the best Babs as Batgirl issue of the entire 2011-2020 era.
Cass had a few things close to this (Batman & Robin Eternal #13 has some moments of silence allowing the action and Cass's visual cues to tell the story) but never full-on.
The closest we got to this was Batgirl Vol. 1 #22, where writer Kelley Puckett would just allow artist Damion Scott to do his thing showcasing the action along with emotion within the issue.
But that was the closest we got until well Batgirls #14. That's why I'm hyped for this because it's a story element I think a character like Cass can truly shine in. Not only that, but pair the character with an artist to visually showcase this as well.
To that degree, Batgirls #14 succeeds HIGHLY in. This is the best issue of the series (thus far) culminating in five issues prior to it and highlighting all the elements I mentioned.
Artist Jonathan Case takes that banner and lays out a visual feast on this issue. There are SOOOO many moments that are so extraordinary. Case packs a TON of detail and emotion in each panel with the plot he's given.
Likewise, I think writers Michael Conrad and Becky Cloonan did a real job in laying it all the seeds they've had prior in the series (from Riddler's lingering riddles playing how Cass fully figured out where Cluemaster was hiding with Steph's letter being the final nail).
There's a great urgency Case captures with Cass throughout the issue. She knows (given the last issue of her being in the peril Steph's in) how bad the situation is.
Hence no contacting Babs, Bruce, or anyone. This is Cass ON A MISSION. I do like how this issue ties into Batgirls 2022 Annual how the League is behind Cluemaster's resurrection). For what intended purpose? Who knows? Other than it brought back one "father of the year" in Cluemaster. It almost makes me wonder if the leader of this sect of the League that has broken off (and who have Lazarus Resin) is being led by the other aka David Cain.
I mean it feels weird that the last issue kind of "forgot" he was more the monster here than Shiva, who kind of equally was manipulated by him. Showcasing that truly monstrous side we heard he was until Cass made him discover the heart he had.
I just think it would be an interesting parallel of Cass caught between two parents. Not only that but have this be the final closure of Shiva and the League.
Though I do confess it was fun seeing Shiva help her daughter against these ninjas and have a "mom" moment. With Cass having an "I could've handled that or GEEZ MOM! Can we tone down the murder PLEASE?!"
Again I just love Case's use of colors to showcase the various moods being played out from violent red to calm cool blue.
I get it Case went all out on this issue. Literally, in just two issues he's made the um-- case why in just two issues how he's become THE artist for the book that many probably would want back (please bring him back for more DC PLEASE!).
I ain't complain about the moments that made no sense because Case just made it look so darn visually appealing.
But I will go into the big thing this issue did sort of break in silence with Steph's letter to Cass. Because oh boy does it have some ramifications for Cass/Steph.
Though I'll fully admit I didn't mind the letter. You knew Cass was going to open the letter first when the concept was introduced in Batgirls 2022 Annual and you pieced that Steph was getting kidnapped in solicitations to this one. Just what were the words that were in it?
Steph full on admitting she had feelings for Cass and loved her.😮😮😮 Yeah, this does change the next step between the two. The question is--
What will come from this? Well, either it's downplayed, but I doubt it, as I think we don't have Cass's letter or if you have the Lazarus Resin in play means more emotional drama will soon occur. Or it is, and extended further down the road...
Though I think we already know Cass's response to the letter as we have her creating a scarf from ripping the fabric of Steph's cloaks. Which is a totally in-character Cass thing to do.
But yeah, this is the best issue of the entire series. Even if Steph is the damsel in distress. From her letter, it still gives some much-needed characterization that's been growing with Steph. Along with well both moving more out of Babs' shadow.
Literally, Cass doesn't even go to Babs for any sort of help. It really showcases how different in tone this issue is compared to say Batgirls #1-6 and the preludes to it. These gals can handle things themselves.
Plus I did like the Tutor tease AGAIN which is well suggesting another future story of the original villain from this series.
Yeah, this was an exceptional issue of the series. It really is a strong contender for the best solo Cass story already for 2023. The art is just phenomenal. The story is gripping. Everything just connects.
It might not be fully "new reader" friendly. I mean unless you read Batgirls #9-13, the 2022 Annual, AND Task Force Z maxi series (to at least understand the Lazarus Resin).
But you can just enjoy it for what the issue was. Reading the other stuff is an added bonus to add more to the reading experience.
I'm just amazed it took fourteen issues and we have the first real standout. Like literally, there's nothing I can nitpick at all. This issue is absolute perfection and everything I hoped this series would be.
My only fear is well-- where do you go from here? I mean that is the series biggest problem that it hasn't gotten a single artist down. It just rotating between three (so far).
Though I do love Neil Googe but Robbi Rodriguez is hit or miss for me. The book needs someone who can stay longer. Even if though it took a while man the Case issues (#13-14) were just another level of art.
I dare even to say they surpassed Jorge Corona's stuff from the prior six issues (and prelude). #14 just leaves me hungering for more Case art for this series. I'd love to see him tackle a Steph issue next.
I mean I love this stuff with what he did for Cass but it be nice to contrasting colors for Steph.
But yeah, Batgirls #14 was exceptional. A perfect celebration of the character (and history) of Cassandra Cain. Where it did it's own thing and represents a major point in this series.
Where does the series go from here? I'm really curious to see. No matter where this series goes, #14 is probably going to be the #1 highlight for many of the series.
So yeah Batgirls #14 in a quick summary:

Have you seen what the larries are saying about coco? They are already starting with all their crazy theories. Have you broken the song down yet or any idea what coco could represent?
I have not seen a clean set of lyrics, but will get on this today.
For now: “going coco” was like “going coo-coo” in my linguistic circles, a way of saying “going crazy”. But again, I don’t understand the reference but I am assuming that H’s intended recipient does. Secret language and all that.
With the Gary Go and Johnny McDaid co-writing credit, and the estimated 2014 writing time, I am guessing it is also a veiled reference to the long-suspected meet ups at Courtney Cox’s house:
- Coco has been her nickname for many decades, and is the reason why she and ex-husband David Arquette named their long-awaited daughter Coco.
- Ed became friends with her in 2013, staying at her guest house and bringing his friends to her legendary dinner parties at her place in the Los Angeles metro area. These friends included: the guys from Snow Patrol, TS, and HS.
- Coco herself confirmed TS’s presence there when she slipped up in a 2016 interview at the BMIs, detailed here:
And here is a summary of Coco’s Howard Stern interview on March 2, 2022 where she reconfirms the TS presence AND adds a tale where HS played Wingman (along with Sacha Baron Cohen, lol) to get her and Johnny together.
Our boy? Loves love.
So Coco’s home? One of the “places” known by Blondie for them to “hide” as mentioned in IKP.
And Coco and Jenny Aniston (HS’s childhood crush! And they’re both such Friends mega fans!) know exactly what it’s like to be hunted by paps, so would absolutely have helped.
I will link back to this post when I get to the analysis post. Thanks for the ask, Anon!

Stuff I'm Looking Forward to in February
Can't believe we're now into the middle of the first quarter of 2024. In addition to Black History Month (2/1-2/29), Groundhog Day (2/2), Lunar New Year (2/10), Valentine's Day (2/14), Ash Wednesday (2/14), Presidents' Day (2/19), and Leap Day (2/20) here is what's on my radar this month:
Movies:
Orion and the Dark
What got my attention about this animated feature is that it is written by Charlie Kaufman. Yes - the writer of Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wrote this! Premieres on Netflix on 2/2.
Lisa Frankenstein
This horror comedy from director Zelda Williams (yes - the daughter of a legend) and writer Diablo Cody looks promising. Opens 2/9 (review to come).
Madame Web
The newest entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also the next installment of the Spider-Man Universe as this gets into multiple Spider-Women and they filmed in Boston too. Color me curious! Opens 2/14.
Kiss the Future
During the Zoo TV Tour in 1993, U2 shined a light on the crisis in Sarajevo in an effort to support the besieged Sarajevans. This documentary about their efforts was produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. After playing festivals last year, it is being released exclusively by AMC Theaters on 2/19.
Drive-Away Dolls
I was a huge fan of the Coen brothers, but after The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, they began working solo. After Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, I’m excited to see Ethan Coen’s solo feature, an action comedy about inept criminals, which is his wheelhouse. I first was looking forward to this in September 2023 and I still am. Opening 2/23.
Music:
Paul McCartney & Wings Band on the Run 50th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's greatest non-Beatles album, a new special edition is being released. The timing happens to be a few weeks after the passing of Wings guitarist Denny Laine as well. Re-release drops on 2/2.
J. Mascis What Do We Do Now
In addition to Dinosaur Jr., J. Mascis has done some great solo work. His last solo album Elastic Days had some bangers and I was lucky enough to see him do a live solo show in 2019. Looking forward to his newest solo album, which drops 2/2.
TV:
Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 12 premiere
The 12th season of one of the most brilliant TV comedies of all time is going to be the final season (or so they say). Even though it's only at season 12, each season has been spaced out over the past 24 years. I named Season 11 my Best TV Show of 2021. Hopes are high for Larry David's social assassin going out on a high note! Season premiere on 2/4 on HBO.
Awards Season:
We're in the midst of awards season now! This month we have Grammy Awards (2/4), DGA Awards (2/10), SAG Awards (2/24), and Independent Spirit Awards (2/25). Not exactly an awards show, but the biggest competition of the year is the Super Bowl (2/11) as well.

Medea Plays Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Part III
I’ll get to Larry soon enough.
This might be a longer than normal post. I got in an extra day of playing due to a snow storm preventing me from going to work. Tee-hee. Let’s see how my journey is fairing out.
*gasp* Would you look at that?! A shiny! I’m not even a shiny hunter.
Oh my goodness, two of them!
Just like with Legends Arceus, it’s a little easier to point out and find shinies.
Is this a nod to the anime and TR’s Meowth or just a coincidence. I see what you did here, game.
I ran into more interesting-looking students again. Not as cringey as bruh who looks like a pedo. Buuut...
Ooh, oh no. This woman got a Frollo hairdo-look going on. What are you doing, Pokemon?
Okay, I have to admit. Out of all the memes on the internet involving the new Pokemon game, there’s one character/pokemon that I’m enjoying with all of the memes. I think you know who I mean.
That’s right. Oop, wrong file photo.
Yeah, I kinda fell in love with this sledgehammer-wielding psychopath.
Let’s see what’s up with school.
Huh. This reminds me of a Ren and Stimpy episode.
Them lummoxes love their meat on meat sandwiches. Maybe Miss Dendra is related to the lummoxes. Meanwhile, in art class...
Say no more. I’m shipping this until the day I die. Hassel loves his dear Brassie. It chokes him up inside.
Wow...um. I didn’t expect him to start crying because he heard Brassie-boy’s depression through art. This isn’t the last time you’ll see him cry.
You have no idea, lady. Let’s check out the Team Star incident.
Oh God. I know bullying is very wrong and everything, especially in this game. But...this kid just has such a punchable face. He’s like Bede, Dilandau, and Trip all mish-mashed into one entity.
Seriously, this kid here. I would like to punch him. And that’s stiff competition because the last Team Star person I fought before this little dingleberry acts like David Cross playing a Warlock.
But, you learn to let the fists go when you learn about Team Star and how they are not in the wrong. Like, at all. Everything stems back from 18 months ago. Team Star was bullied. Teachers did nothing. Team Star was formed under the guidance of the unseen boss. Turmoil hit the school. Bullies were sent to Galar. Teachers resigned. The former director covered everything up. Team Star was used as a scapegoat.
But educators like Clavell, Ms. Tyme, Jacq-strap, all of those people started AFTER this incident. The final Team Star boss is.
Whoa. I am at a loss of words with Eri. Except, I think she might be the daughter to a professional ultimate fighter and Stripperella. I ain’t even sorry for that crack.
After defeating all 5 squad bosses, you learn the hacker who told you to track down all the places and defeat the bosses that they are indeed the big boss. They will fight you on the school grounds at sundown. Let’s smash some titans.
I know you see this ginormous fella earlier in the game, like when your team is at level 20-30. Heed my advice and wait until, maybe your 6th badge to fight him. If you don’t believe me, look at some playthroughs on Youtube. People were not expecting this. Now for the confusing titan.
Is this the titan? I mean, he is bigger than some of the oth...
Ohhhhhhhh shiiiiiii...
Don’t worry, he comes back once you beat Monstro, the big, blue whatchamafucker.
So, is this guy really the titan or was the big fella the titan? I don’t know. Let’s continue.
Oh God...don’t kill me with this now.
Doggo all better. Me happy. Me very happy. Let nothing ruin this...
Bad timing. Bad timing from bad parent. And if you don’t believe me...
I feel like this was Arven’s childhood in a nutshell.
But now, Arven’s mother Professor Crazy Bitch needs his help.
Wait, aren’t we forbidden from entering the hellhole of Paldea.
That is not a good sign. Let’s wrap things up with the Victory Road saga.
Meet Japanese businessman gym leader. A.K.A. Larry. And according to the internet, the most interesting man in Paldea. I’ll stick to my Tinkaton memes thank you very much.
The interesting gym challenges continue. For Larry’s gym, you have to order the correct secret dish that he eats at this restaurant. You get clues from fighting trainers all over town.
Next gym will have you compete in double battles in front of a crowd. When the crowd is warmed up, it’s time for a concert with Gym Leader Ryme. Yes, she’s the sister of your math teacher Miss Tyme.
Oh and the gym leader also does double battles. So there’s that.
In the next gym, Miss Dendra comes in with battle faces. You will also fight some trainers. No, Dendra is not the gym leader. She’s just good friends with her.
On a side-note, Miss Dendra is the best teacher.
Anyways, fight the Cover Girl model and win a badge. In your final badge...
You have to go through this Mario Party-style obstacle course and race down before time runs out. And then you can fight Grusha.
I kept forgetting he was a boy this whole time. These characters confuse me greatly. Okay, you obtain all 8 badges, time to meet with Geeta the champ.
I was really hoping the first time someone fought for me it would be Tracey Sketchit and not female-Goku over here.
So, you know how after you finish the gym battles, you go on to Victory Road and then face the Elite Four. There’s one trainer outside the Pokemon League and that’s it. Oh, there’s something you’ll have to face that’s more terrifying than 10+ trainers in a cave.
I know I know all the answers. But she’s so intimidating that I fear I might slip-up.
After that, you face off against the Elite Four. This includes Rika, a toddler, your art teacher, and...
Oops, wrong file photo.
...
They’re the same thing.
Yes, not since Koga have we seen such a jump. After you defeat all four of them, Geeta time.
You know what? I have some things to say. This was by-far, the easiest Elite Four I’ve faced-off against. This might be because a year prior to this, I was facing off against Sinnoh’s Elite Four + Cynthia. Plus, these guys don’t stop in mid-battle to give their pokemon a Full Restore. They just take the beating, thinking they’re going to annihilate you. Spoiler alert, they don’t. Also, don’t expect to take them on again after this. You can only fight the Elite Four once.
That’s right. Let me say it again for the people in the back. This is the only time you can fight the Elite Four and Geeta in this setting.
And now you’re champ.
He’s so overcome with joy. Okay, time for a sandwich break.
To be continued...

Rewind: Joni Mitchell - The Hissing of Summer Lawns (1975)
If cocaine made a sound, it might be The Hissing of Summer Lawns.
Released in 1975 as Joni Mitchell was settling into her jazz phase after the previous year’s Court and Spark, Summer Lawns is druggy. But it’s never drugged-out.
There’s a wired tiredness to the music - vaguely psychedelic, mostly jazz with glimmers of folk and rock. All of this makes The Hissing of Summer Lawns essential and essentially impossible to hear too many times.
Set in snow-covered California, the album makes references both explicit - he tilts their tired faces gently to the spoon, in “Edith and the Kingpin” - and implicit - drooling for a taste of something smuggled in, on “The Jungle Line” - delivered in the percussion-and-vocal format Mitchell’d revisit on “Dreamland” from Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter.
This is Mitchell at her zenith, backed by a host of top-tier players and singers in keyboardist Joe Sample; drummer John Guerin; guitarists Larry Carlton, Robben Ford and Jeff Baxter; horn blowers Chuck Findley and Bud Shank; and background vocalists David Crosby, Graham Nash and James Taylor; among others.
The Hissing of Summer Lawns starts happily enough with the celebration of youth that is “In France They Kiss on Main Street” - looking for a party, looking to raise Jesus up from the dead, Mitchell sings. But soon enough, she’s singing of powerlessness and dreams deferred on the languid, sinewy and arresting “Don’t Interrupt the Sorrow.”
Truth goes up in vapors/the steeples lean/winds of change patriarchs/snug in your Bible Belt dreams/god goes up the chimney/like childhood Santa Claus/the good slaves love the good book/a rebel loves a cause, she sings, sounding exhausted over six verses and no chorus.
Everybody talks about Blue - and with good reason - but The Hissing of Summer Lawns is the Joni Mitchell LP Sound Bites would take to the proverbial desert island.
