Misato Headcanon: Okaki’s Darling Girl / Modeling Career

The high status of many of Okaki’s residents make it a common place for journalist to seek out stories. Things that would be considered commonplace or otherwise ignored by the general public make media headlines here with a town full of celebrities. As such, local news within the place offers not a hint of privacy among its citizens, with every family affair in the news in one format or another. Such was the beginning of Misato’s emergence to the public eye of her hometown, started from the very day she was born. 

It wasn’t uncommon for the births of these children to be monumental occasions, as they would often be considered the new ‘heirs’ for various businesses that ran cutthroat operations. Due to the circumstances of her birth she was, for a short time, the center of the town’s attention once it had been announced that Jun would no longer be able to birth any children after the complications. 

For once, the front page news was not of a scandal - but of the miracle survival of a preterm baby. 

Though the original story would soon fade from most memories, it was reignited when Misato turned twelve. Her father, capitalizing on the public attention she once had, had his daughter start appearing as model for his fashion company. She began to become a local legend again - a story of a child who had gone from the brink of death to a level  of success most adults never achieved as a mere teenager. 

She was a light of hope for some - the target of unscrupulous envy for others. 

But for her part - Misato would part with this life without a second thought.

It is not just the fact that this lifestyle doesn’t fit her in the least, but the impact it has on her daily life. The pressure for perfection is immense - not just in body, but in her public image. She finds her every move scrutinized by both her parents and strangers alike. Playing to her persona of being a stuck-up, pretentious bitch seemed to be the only way to keep people from wanting to get any closer to her.  She’s long since deleted her social media accounts to block out harassment she’d received in the past. And the traveling, though it might seem like a luxury at first - there was nothing more she hated. Especially when her father left her in the company of strangers to optimize his own business time.

The only positive in all of this is that the high fashion is, for the most part, reserved to the elite circles in society.

The younger newsies who all look up to and follow Specs like he's their big brother and copy most of the things he does.

Specs who stomps his feet and flaps his hands when he's excited and the little kids who start picking this up and copying this.

The headline goes up in the morning, and a bunch of these kids are unknowingly stimming in excitement because there's "Finally a story that isn't the trolley strike!"

Nobody really sees Specs stimming as strange that much anymore because so many of them have started to pick it up and do it too.

But I think it’d be funnier if they switched them around, like Amanda helping out Spock since as a Human she knows what Humans like! Except she doesn’t realize that because she’s embraced Vulcan culture so much for quite a few years her advice is…. yeah

Meanwhile, Sarek has decided that Jim should logically listen to him for advice since they raised Spock as mostly a Vulcan, unfortunately, Sarek has a hard time actually communicating so a huge majority of his advice is vague, and he’s kind of off putting to Jim to deal with
