when you see like a cool piece of 3d art often your instinct is that you wanna touch it to get a closer look and investigate the different shapes, like humans are very tactile and we get a better sense of how an object is shaped from holding it and turning it around and stuff. double if that thing has cool textures on it too. this is especially true of younger kids who are 1. still going through brain development where they need to touch things to get a better sense of how they exist in 3d space and 2. who haven't had a ton of social pressure to not touch things without asking permission first. This creates a danger zone in the 2-6 age range where some things have not registered to them as "off limits" yet.

so when i work as a mermaid at the aquarium and i wear my cool fancy tops that look like seashells, leafyseadragons, nautili etc i am like CONSTANTLY deflecting childrens hands from full on groping my chest bc they want to touch the pretty object and whatnot, except its so hard when theres a lot of them so i dont always manage. parents are often super apologetic but at this point im just like. resigned to it

Leafy Sea Dragon

Here's my first #MarineBioArt, the Leafy Sea Dragon.

The Leafy Sea Dragon is a pipe fish that is super adapted for camouflage. All members of the pipefish family, Syngnathidae, have fused jaws that they suck up small plankton, larvae, and crustaceans. Syngnathids are also known for the father taking primary care of eggs after the female gives birth by holding them in a pouch on their underside.

Leafy Sea Dragons are found only in kelp and sea grass forests along the southern coasts of Australia. Like Sea Horses, they have very reduced fins, and move very slowly through their environment, depending heavily on their camouflage for avoiding predation.

ill be honest... i dont know ;_; i got them from a local shop that’s no longer in business, and all of the inside words about size/brand/etc have been worn away by how much ive used them.... ive tried googling and never found any boots that look like the exact same brand. i wish i had a better answer for you, im sorry AGHHH

I’ve showed off these two before but I’ll do it again. The Sealings are basically and sea dragon/sea horse human hybrids with the sea dragons branching off into two different subspecies with Willow being a leafy sea dragon while Cress is a normal sea dragon.
