Houses in traditional astrology.
Instead of making separate posts for each house, I thought it’d be more judicious & practical to compile everything into one singular post for concision’s sake.
Some necessary contextualization before we get to the point:
— Most houses don’t represent personality traits or characteristics. They represent experiences & areas of your life. Your self in the more rudimentary sense of the term is the 1st house. Other houses can be other people, places, or experiences.
— The ascendant/1st house is you, not a “mask”, your “basic self”, a “facade” or a “superficial persona” it’s for the major part everything modern astrology believes the sun to be.
— The ascendant/1H representing you does not mean other placements cannot be relevant or resonant (as explained here), that’s an oversimplification and nothing in life is ever that simple. All elements in a chart matter, but to believe everything is a “me” indicators is far too reductive. This is especially relevant wrt appearance. While the 1H has higher than average chances of coming through when it comes to the visual aspect, there are other things that come into play — namely genetics, the Moon, the 2nd house, the IC, & the Ascendant Lord.
— There are 12 houses and 7 traditional planets. You will most certainly have empty houses — though inactive they are not. Even if there are no planets in a house, there will always be a planet ruling it and its themes will still hold significance to you & your life experiences, there just won’t be as much focus on them as there would be with houses containing planets.
— Signs don’t “naturally” rule houses. Aries does NOT signify the 1H unless you’re an Aries rising. In fact, “rulership” is something only planets can do. Not signs, not houses, just planets! The signs are a celestial system that shows HOW a planet’s energy expresses itself, whereas houses are a terrestial system that shows WHERE that energy is expressed (areas of life). You can read ABC house system debunks online, or wait for me to write one!

The Homestuck Fan Author Coalition's November 2024 Competition was a split competition with the prompts "Bus Driver Eridan" and "Rarepair." i also went on a TikTok rabbit hole and people are saying it’s useless to learn html/css and it’s not an actual language. honestly idk why I thought it would be easy to learn html > css > javascript > angular > react and somehow land a good paying job…
it’s gonna take YEARS for me to have a career, i feel old… especially with no degree

This is a long reply so I answered your question in sections below! But in the end, I hope this helps you! 🙆🏾♀️
🔮 "How did you transition?"
So, yeah my old job title was "Junior Web Developer" at a finance firm, and now my new title is "Frontend Software Engineer"! In terms of transition, I didn't make too much of a change.
After I quit my old job, I focused more on Frontend technologies that were relevant, so I focused on React.js and Node.js. I used YouTube, books, and Codeacademy. My first React project was >> this Froggie project <<~! Working on real-life projects such as the volunteering job I did (only for a month) where they used the technologies I was learning. So basically I did this:

experienced developers in the team helped me with other technologies such as UI tools, and some testing experience 🙆🏾♀️
I did the volunteering work for both fun and learning with experienced developers and... I was bored and wanted to feel productive again... 😅
So for transitioning, I focused on learning the new technologies I wanted to work in and got some work experience (though it was volunteering) to back up if I can work in an environment with the tech. I still live with my family so I could do the volunteering job and have time to self-study whilst being okay financially (though I was tight with money haha) 😅👍🏾
🔮 "Is it any different than web dev?"
The old job was focused on using C# and SQL (including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript but fairly small) to make the websites, they were fairly basic websites for clients to use just to navigate their information needed. They weren't fancy cool web design because they didn't need to be, which was what made me bored of the job and wanted a change.
I am only a week into the job and have been working on small tickets (features for the site), but I think after a month or two into the job I will make a proper judgment on the difference~! So far, it's kind of the same thing I did in my old job but with new workflow tools, React-based projects, and funny people to work with 😅🙌🏾
🔮 "People are saying it’s useless to learn HTML/CSS and it’s not an actual language."
Yes HTML is a markup language and CSS is a stylesheet but they are the foundation of like 90% of the websites on the internet, I wouldn't ever call them "useless". Frameworks such as React, Django, Flask, etc still require HTML and CSS code to make the website's structure and styling. CSS frameworks like Tailwind and Bootstrap 5 still use CSS as their base/foundation. Not useless at all.
Don't focus on what other people are doing and focus on your own learning. I repeat this all the time on my blog. Just because one or a couple people online said one technology is useless doesn't mean it is (this is applied to most things in tech). Someone told me jQuery was entirely useless and no bother learning it - I did it anyway and it helped me better understand JavaScript. Anyhoo, try things YOURSELF before listening to what people say - make your own judgment. Not going to let a random Tech bro online whine about how annoying Python or C or whatever is to ruin my want to learn something. (This is all coming from a girl who loves web development very much's point of view :D)

Web Dev route, I love it! That's literally the same steps I would have taken if I had to start again~! For each new tech you learn, make a bunch of projects to 1) prove to yourself that you can apply what you've learned 2) experience 3) fill that portfolio~! 😎🙌🏾
With Angular and React, I would pick one or the other and focus on being really good at it before learning another framework!
I also recommend volunteering jobs, freelancing, helping a small business out with free/paid m
Lastly, you do not need a degree to get a job in Web Development. I mean look at me? My apprenticeship certificate is the same value as finishing school at 18, so in the UK it would be A-Levels, and I completed it at the ripe age of 21! I have no degree, I applied for university and got a place but I will give that space up for someone else, I'm not ready for university just yet! haha... (plus erm it's expensive at the end, what? even for the UK...). Sure, I used to avoid the job postings that were like "You need a computer science degree" but now if I were job searching I would apply regardless.
People switching careers in their 40s going into tech instead are making it, you can switch anytime in your lifetime if you have the means to! (everyone's situation is different I understand).
I'm not too good at giving advice but I hope in the rambling I made some sense? But yeah that's all! 😎

Idea I'm too tired to write properly:
Larryboy's driving through Bumblyburg on the trail of the Milkmoney Bandit (that one scallion mugger from the cold open of the Rumor Weed), whose been acting unusual lately. Not only is he doing more high-profile thefts than usual (he's got a very specific range, you know? it's in the name and everything), and not sticking to the shadows as well as normal, but he's been doing more thefts instead of fewer despite it almost being summer vacation (again, he's usually very particular about specifically taking milk money from school kids, so summer's his off-season). Larryboy managed to plant a tracker into the change the Bandit took in his most recent heist, and is following the signal to the warehouse district (it's a superhero city, gotta have a warehouse district).
He sneaks in, corners the Bandit with his usual theatrics... only to pause when he realizes that the Bandit looks really pale and wobbly. And then he glitches and says that his recent crimewave happened because "they" said they'd give him The Antidote if he did what they said. And when Larryboy questions this, one of Garyboy's plungers wraps him up and the virus comes out of the shadows.
As he's an eggplant of his word, he gives the Bandit a syringe containing the patch that'll purge the low-level malware in his system and tells him to skedaddle. Once the two are alone there's some hero-villain banter exchanged, they catch each-other up on what they've been doing lately (within reason. neither of them is about to reveal anything actually useful to one of their worst enemies), and eventually Larryboy manages to get loose.
The fight commences, during which it's revealed that Larry's suit has been reinforced to the point where Gary can't bite him through it. Larry's the more skilled fighter and Gary's stronger and has his Hydra powers, which makes them pretty evenly matched, at least until they've been fighting for a while and we're reminded that Code-Level entities don't get tired as fast as Character-Level entities (at east on average), so Gary gets the upper hand... metaphorically speaking.
Thankfully, he's not here to finish the job this time. Instead, he's here to show off a new trick he learned. He shoots a plunger (on a stick instead of a cord. that is something the super-suction ears can do even if it's only happened once in the Fib from Outer Space as a slapstick thing) at the Larrymobile, causing it to transform. Obviously it switches to Garyboy's color scheme, but it also gets a bit bigger and changes its signature smooth cucumber-shape into something more angular with segmented armor plating.
And, of course, once it's fully become the Garymobile Garryboy gains the ability to control it remotely. He takes it for a spin, knocking Larryboy around in the process, before portaling out. Communications come back online (because of course Garyboy was jamming his signal on top of everything else) and when Alfred asks if Larry's alright all he can think to say is that he needs a new car.

now i'm confused about what i really want to pursue as a career because i've been jumping from project to project, and language to language. i still enjoy ui/ux design and front-end development, but i also like back-end now! full-stack is really overwhelming and stressful but satisfying. i'm interested in automated testing too. i also like managing projects. so idk what i want right now but so far i've liked learning and experiencing everything!! aaaaaaaaaa

Actually how big would my two moons appear on Tlaloc (The name of the planet) appear in the sky? I would use SE or US but I don't think my new laptop could handle SE and I can't buy US due to me not having online money currently. I know both of Mars moons can hypothetically be seen in the sky so I was wondering what much bigger objects would look like. I really wish I had a reference photo or something.
i dont think you sent information about their distances in your last ask.
remember, use the small-angle cosine approximation which is:
angular diameter in radians = diameter of object / distance to object (in the same units)
the answer will be a really small fraction of a radian. Convert that to a slightly larger fraction of a degree by multiplying by 180°/π.
The Moon is half a degree, so you can compare your answers with the Moon to get a rough idea of what they'd look like.
For example, Phobos is 26km wide and 5979km away from Mars' surface.
26km/5979km = 0.00434855327 radians 0.00434855327 * (180°/π) = 0.249153749°
so about 0.25°, or half the apparent diameter of the Moon as seen from the Earth.

Here's Deimos and Phobos as seen from Mars (not hypothetically--this is an actual photo taken by Curiosity iirc) versus the Moon as seen from Earth, to scale. Except that you'd never see the Moon that big in the sky, without a telescope.
Hold your head back from the screen and hold your pinkie out at arm's length so that your pinkie nail can cover the moon entirely. That's how small the Moon really is in the sky. Note that Phobos is still visible as a disk, but Deimos is reduced to a dot. In reality it would still be a very bright dot, like, probably much brighter than Venus. But not resolvable as a disk without incredible eyesight or binoculars/small telescopes.
You can make a similar size comparison on a piece of graph paper (or on the computer). Maybe set one grid unit equal to 1/10th of a degree, then draw a 5-unit diameter circle for the Moon, then use your answer to the angular size calculation to figure out the diameters of the other planets.
Also, consider using Celestia if you can't use Universe Sandbox^2 or Space Engine. Celestia won't procedurally generate any surfaces for you, but it can still show you what your system should look like in 3D if you learn to make configuration text file mods for it.
There are probably open source gravitational simulators that are free, but they'll surely be harder to pick up and use.
