Each of us wages a private battle to thrive. Whenever a person fully immerses oneself in life’s aromatic flower garden of pleasures and encounters life’s warship of armor-plated rigors, they blend and bend to make reasonable accommodations for surviving. Scripted and unscripted encounters with superior militant forces bruise us mightily and eventually cut us to the core. Every person’s life contains a minefield of obstacles that function as potential barriers to achieving our ultimate manifestation. The expended labor of continuously hefting oneself over one contentious hurdle after another is what leads a conscientious person onto the path of needing to write in order to create emotional poultices to ameliorate painful wounds.

Tip for adult artists if your focus is improving your anatomy and drawing bodies that feel more grounded in a space, genuinely one of the best exercises for that is to draw smut.
You don't have to post it. Hell, you can burn it when you're done for all it matters. But hardly anything will give you more of an understanding of a realistic human body interacting in 3D space when you smush two or more of them together.

Mr. T always seems to play a very tough guy. I wouldn't want to mess with him. In real life, Mr. T helps kids every chance he gets. Here are some photos of him and the kids he helps in a hospital that he visited. He does that a lot. He does a lot for kids everywhere. He always makes time for them and makes them laugh. He tells them things to encourage them to do well. I love Mr. T!! ❤️

Look at all those smiles from those very sick kids. I love Mr. T for making those kids happy as they face adversity. He's a true hero and a great man.

I wonder if those kids keep those casts. I know that I would 😁😍 We can all learn a valuable lesson from Mr T 😁😍

so i started sertraline (i think americans call it zoloft??) very recently & i’m having quite a social week so i’ve been researching if i can drink whilst taking it.
and the nhs website says that you CAN, but it’s wise to wait a while after you start the meds so you can differentiate side effects.
whereas all the american websites are like IF YOU DRINK ON SERTRALINE YOU WILL DIE. YOUR HEART WILL EXPLODE. YOUR BLOOD WILL BOIL.
so i drank a cider tonight,

I'm not gonna go on another dog training tangent except I absolutely am because truly!!! I think it's SO worth it to approach training with like.. a mindset that prioritizes the dog's comfort over achieving certain desirable behaviors. Because ultimately, a dog that is comfortable, confident, and that has a strong basis of communication with you IS going to be a well-behaved dog. And it takes a LOT of time and patience and it can be frustrating but its worth it!!

Sus quest my beloved <333333
#stars posting#the way the effect at the end is the same as when talking to the head housemaiden. tee hee.#ohhhh siffrin. picks them up and throws them off a cliff#also let it be known that the act 4 odile friendquest dialogue is everything to me as well#its delightful to me how bitter they are#I cant wait to watch it blow up#also I love how odile goes abt confronting sif abt it#because like. in act 6 I feel like odile probably assumes she was harsher abt it than she actually was#like she wasnt necessarily gentle but she didnt feel like. angry either. just upset. reasonably so#like the thing that gets me abt her speculation is when shes speculating that they might have lost to the kind before#and just like. that sticks with me so hard. even with sif actively lying to her face she doesn't assume that theyre trying to sabotage them#combined with everything else she says during the whole questline it just. feels like she truly does want siffrin to just talk to her.#with her frustration coming from him just blatantly refusing to despite how obviously super serious of an issue this is#it's always been my favorite party sub quest I love odile I am rotating her in my mind#especially in combination with her act 6 dialogue relating to it#and her act 6 dialogue in general#just like aughhhhh#it feels like to me that she assumes shes worse than she is and thats so fascinating to me combined with the rest of her character#and its like. what is this woman's deal. girlie had stalkers plural. what has your life been like.#and and! her dialogue with the wizard kid where she expressed that it feels nice to be old!! augh!!!#it just reads so much like a character whos already been through the worst period of their life and made it to the other side#and generally speaking she does seem fairly happy and comfortable with herself! but it's a learned thing!#and its just like oughhhhh what if I cried actually. over a backstory that is like 90% just pure speculation on my part#like her adversion to touch. combined with everything else. head in hands.#isat spoilers

And then I finally end it off with some doodles of them… they make me feel things.
#ringmaster doodles#sona art#( they’re very much the theme of. love in the face of the neverending march of time. )#( being immortal and knowing you will outlive the man you love because someone else deemed he unworthy of eternal life. )#( he may still have tens of thousands of years left. sure. but you know that those will go by and he’ll disappear in the blink of an eye. )#( and you’ll sit there on his death bed. wondering why did things end up like this? )#( wondering what you did wrong. and if you could have done something different. you’ll always ask yourself. )#( if he lives a life of happiness and comfort or did he live a life as gruesome and miserable as the wars on earth? but you won’t know. )#( and the more you think about it. the more you realize it. how nihilistic he was. and how he never seemed to smile even in the good times.#he always seemed to have a frown or a scowl on his face. he always seems bothered and unhappy. )#( so you wonder if it was something you did. because you know you aren’t perfect. you’re hardly good. )#( you wonder if he’s mad at you. maybe he was. but he doesn’t have the heart to stay mad. )#( and that’s love in the face of adversity. knowing that no matter how bad it gets. he loves you as you love him. )#( and you wonder why he never smiles. because he truly never does. and so you ask him. honest and true. )#( and he tells you there isn’t anything worth smiling for. nothing in this whole world. )#( but he smiles at you. it’s always small. and it’s always brief. )#( but that smile. that smile means love. )#( that hug. as flimsy as it may be. that hug means love. )#( of course. he isn’t affectionate. if anything. he detests it. he hates physical contact of any kind. you’ve noticed. )#( which is a shame. you love your hugs and your kisses and your hand holding. )#( but even if he doesn’t like it. he lets you do it. because it makes you happy. )#( and you learn that when you’re happy. he’s a little less miserable. )#( of course. not all love is equal. and not all love is fair. )#( the love from a lover and the love from the father can never equate to one another. )#( no one will love you in the same way a father or mother loves you. in the same manner. no one will ever love you the way I do. )#( because my love will remain with you. long after I disappear. )#( and as bitter as the idea of my own existence coming to an end is. knowing I did all of this for. essentially nothing. )#( that I’ve gone through all this pain and suffering and hardship just for it to all amount to nothing. for it to be fucking useless to try.#I get to die knowing that you’ll always love and be loved. and that’s enough for me… )#( … maybe there is something worth smiling for after all. )

✮ The Desert Swan ✮
Like love, the sun rots in the summer, withering into rain, pattering on the highway, and digested in the mind’s belly. A quasi paradise at the side of the road, slowly, the cactus the desert eats, turning into a city in the middle of nowhere. As downtrodden as I may have been, I doled out prayers into their pockets so their seer might point out the way, out of here, out of the stagnating oil…

What Matters When the Clock Is Ticking
Life Lessons Learned If you knew your time was almost up—really knew it—what would you say? What would you cling to? What would you let go of? That’s not just a hypothetical. For many, that question becomes very real in the face of illness, aging, tragedy, or divine revelation. And that’s exactly the setting in which we find Joshua, the faithful leader of Israel, in today’s readings from Joshua…

From the Bottom Up
My Journey to Redemption There was a time in my life when I didn’t know who I was. I was 19 years old when I got married, and by 23, I was divorced. I had no real family around—just friends and coworkers who became my support system. I clung to them, and before I knew it, I was mirroring their lives: late nights, partying, weed smoking, and chasing a lifestyle that was never meant for me. One…

do you have any ideas about why so many students are struggling with literacy now? I know that illiteracy and reading comprehension have been issues for years and most americans read at like a 5th grade reading level but I’m curious why it seems to be worse now (pandemic? no child left behind?)
It is everything. There’s not one answer. I could talk about this forever so instead I set a five minute timer on my phone and wrote a list of as many of the many things that are causing this on a systemic level that I could think of:
It’s parents not reading with their kids (a privilege, but some parents have that privilege to be able to do this and don’t.)
It’s youtube from birth and never being bored.
It’s phasing out phonics for sight words (memorizing without understanding sounds or meaning) in elementary schools in the early aughts.
It’s defunding public libraries that do all the community and youth outreach.
It’s NCLB and mandating standardized tests which center reading short passages as opposed to longform texts so students don’t build up the endurance or comprehension skills.
It’s NCLB preventing schools from holding students back if they lack the literacy skills to move onto the next grade because they can’t be left behind so they’re passed on.
It’s the chronic underfunding of ESL and Special Ed programs for students who need extra literacy support.
It’s the cultural devaluing of the humanities in favor of stem and business because those make more money which leads to a lot of students to completely disregard reading and writing.
It’s the learning loss from covid.
It’s covid trauma manifesting in a lot of students as learned helplessness, or an inability to “figure things out” or push through adversity to complete challenging tasks independently, especially reading difficult texts.
It’s covid normalizing cheating and copying.
It’s increasing phone use.
It’s damage to attention span exacerbated by increased phone use that leaves you without an ability to sit and be bored ever without 2-3 forms of constant stimulation.
It’s shortform video becoming the predominant form of social media content as opposed to anything text-based.
It’s starting to also be generative AI.
It’s the book bans.
what did I miss.

We Mature by Damage, Not by Age
The adage, "We mature by damage, not by age," encapsulates a profound truth about the human experience. It suggests that growth and maturity are not merely the result of the passage of time but are instead forged through the trials, tribulations, and scars we accumulate along the way. As the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche once said, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger." This sentiment underscores the idea that it is through adversity, not the mere ticking of the clock, that we truly come into our own.
