"para sa'yo oh, baka umiyak ka."
"anong ginagawa mo rito?" kunot-noo niyang tanong matapos ilapag ni rintarou sa tabi niya ang boquet nang hindi niya ito kuhanin mula sa kamay nito.
ngumiti ito, malumanay. "congratulating you, of course. graduate ka na, law school next?"
tinitigan niya muna ito nang ilang segundo, tintitimbang kung nasa tamang ayos ba ang binata para makipag-usap sa kaniya, o nandito na naman ito para inisin siya.
nang hindi nagbago ang ang ekspresyon sa mukha nito, saka siya tumango. "salamat." tinapunan niya ng tingin ang bulaklak na kulay dilaw. sunflowers, paborito niya. "and yes, law school next. sana kayanin."
"kinaya mo four years accountancy, kaya mo pa 'yan." nangingiti nitong dagdag.
hindi siya sumagot. pinagmasdan niya lang si rintarou na kumuha ng pagkain mula sa lamesa. the man really looked good. with his hair looking different from high school, sharp eyes as if prepared to kill anyone with his gaze, and those smiling lips as if he knows your secret.
he looked laid back with his pale yellow polo shirt, first three buttons were open, giving people enough liberty to peek into his white top. kung titingnan, mukhang style nito ang messy-look, but knowing rintarou, he's just like that when he's not on court.
"gusto mo na ba ako?"
bahagya siyang napaatras nang ilapit ni rintarou ang mukha sa kaniya, dahilan para magising siya sa pagkatulala rito. naramdaman niya ang init sa leeg niya lalo na nang ilang segundo silang nagtitigan bago siya mismo ang pumutol nito.
"tigilan mo sabi ako. i'm older than you," sagot niya. mata ay nanatili sa ice cream na kanina pa kinakain.
she heard rintarou scoffed. "nang two years?"
with that, umirap siya. "yeah, two whole years. why don't you hang out with people your age? they're definitely more suitable—kung ayaw mo lumayo, andyan yung kambal."
nalukot ang mukha nito. pinanood niya itong umupo sa lamesa sa tabi niya, at dahil literal na magkatabi, bumangga pa ang tuhod nito sa kaniya. "i know i swing both ways, pero kadiri naman 'yang offer mo."
"hoy anong kadiri? kapatid ko mga yan! si atsumu, medyo—"
"ate!?"
natawa siya dahil sa pagcut off na iyon ni atsumu. she knew they were listening dahil ganiyan naman parati ang dalawang iyan kapag kinakausap siya ni rintarou. maging si rintarou ay natawa rin at nakiasar kay atsumu.
"sabi sa'yo pre dugyot ka minsan eh," natatawa nitong dugtong.
umiling si osamu. "sinong nagsabing minsan lang? at ikaw hoy, rintarou tigilan mo ate ko sabi eh," inis nitong dagdag habang may lechon pa sa bibig.
tanging iling lang ang sinagot ni rintarou at lalo pang inilapit ang upuan sa kaniya. she saw him glance at the space between them, making sure he's not too close. ganiyan siya dati pa.
"hoy—"
"daldal ng kambal, shot niyo na! bawal tumakas!"
bago pa man makasagot ang kambal, nahatak na sila ng ninong nilang lasing na. naiwan na naman tuloy silang dalawa ni rintarou, kaya naman bago pa siya makaramdam ng awkwardness sa pasulyap-sulyap nito sa kaniya ay nagsalita siya.
"ano palang plano mo? third year ka na, diba?"
"mag-aaral, volleball." nagkibit balikat ito. "nothing to worry about my path, alam ko naman gusto ko." at sumulyap ito sa kaniya.
tumango siya. "at least you know what you want to do. mukhang set na set ka na rin eh." ngumiti siya. "i remember being a third year, and still wasn't sure kung itutuloy ko ba 'to."
"you're talking as if you being a third was years ago." rintarou grimaced. "pero, hindi ko inasahang hindi ka pala sigurado. you just seem so... put-togeher, and organized. parang hindi ka maliligaw kahit anong gawin mo sa buhay dahil merong kang plan a-z. you're so focus on staring ahead, and it's admirable."
dire-diretso ang pananalita nito, kumakain at nakatingin din sa kaniya. tila hindi naman nito sinasabi ang iniisip, as if his words weren't making her heart skip a beat.
she couldn't help but remember hindi naman sila close nito noon. she simply knew him by name dahil kaibigan ito ng kambal. she's too busy in school to entertain her brothers' friends.
she didn't mind it, of course. not until they graduated from senior high.
graduation ng kambal, saktong free siya nang hapon kaya nakahabol siya matapos ang ceremony. she was busy taking pictures of everyone dahil busy pa sa class picture taking ang mga kapatid niya, at ang nanay nila ay nakikipagkwentuhan pa, when rintarou came to her.
imagine her surprise when he mentioned her name.
"sorry? who are you?"
rintarou smiled, not a shy one, but most definitely a smile one give when they're around people they like. "i'm rintarou. it's nice to finally meet you face to face."
ibinaba niya ang camera. "oh, you're that kid! the first and last time i took note of you, magka-height pa tayo ah."
he scratched his name using left hand, and that's when she noticed his right arm behind his back. "oh, that's what you remebered."
"oo—pero wait, ano yan? sa kambal ba? hindi kayo magkasama—?"
"no, it's for you."
nanlaki ang mata niya nang ilabas nito ang bouquet ng sunflowers. natuon ang mata niya sa bulaklak, at hindi naintindihan ang sinabi ng binata kaya iniangat niya ang tingin dito.
"i like you. i want to court you."
jaw drop was an understatement. "h—ha? ate mo na ako, huy," biro niya, pero hindi ito natawa. "seryoso ka?"
tumango ito. "i am. i waited for this day."
dahil sa narinig, nagseryoso rin ang mukha niya. "it will pass, suna."
umiling ito. "i grew up, and it didn't. and before you snap at me, please let me be the one to know if it had passed or not?"
huminga siya nang malalim. "bahala ka, pero sinasabi ko sa'yo. walang manliligaw. "
"pero—"
"no. sort your feelings for four years? three? baka mapagbigyan kita."
matapos ang usapang iyon, naisip niyang titigil na ito, ngunit dumalas lang ang pagpunta nito sa bahay nila. pagkumusta sa kaniya.
hindi ito nanliligaw, dahil hindi niya pinayagan.
kaya hindi niya naisip na mananatiling sa kaniya ang tingin nito
"i fulfilled my promise."
nilingon niya si rintarou nang mapansing nakatitig ito sa kaniya. "huh?"
ngumisi ito, at muli inilapit ang mukha sa kaniya. she could feel his breath on her face, but she couldn't find the courage to move away, or even push him.
ayaw niya.
"i sort it out. ikaw pa rin. pwede na ba manligaw?"
umawang lang ang bibig niya. she caught him glancing at her lips, before it went back to her eyes. nang magtama ang paningin nila, nanlaki ang mata nito, at ito ang naunang umatras.
all those years, hindi niya pwedeng sabihing wala siyang na-develop na feelings dito.
dahil imposible iyon.
wala siyang hinihinti rito—she was even anticipating he would get tired of her, pero walang nangyaring ganoon. he kept sending flowers, even trying to help her cool down kapag hindi niya na kinakaya ang pag-aaral. he was there when she was crying over grades, not saying anything, but his presence was enough.
that's when she realized. pero hindi niya pa rin sinubukan dahil baka magsawa rin ito.
yumuko siya. "mas busy ako ngayon, rintarou."
"i know."
"hindi ako parati available."
"i know that, too."
"mahihirapan ka sa'kin." dito, iniangat niya ang paningin only to be greeted by his serious face, looking at her already.
"i won't, and i'm only courting you. wala kang responsibilidad sa akin." ngumiti ito, his eyes went down on your intertwined hands. gawain mo kapag kabado ka, which he perfectly knew. "unless crush mo ako, maybe i can do you a favor tapos ako na sasagot sa'yo."
her eye twitch at that. alam na alam talaga nito kung paano siya inisin, at kung paano siya kalmahin. umirap siya. akmang magsasalita siyang muli nang ipatong nito ang kamay, sa kaniyang magkasalikop na kamay.
ngumiti ito nang nakakaloko bago nagsalita, "okay, sinasagot na kita—"
bago mo pa mahampas sa inis at tawa si rintarou dahil sa sinabi nito, bigla na namang sumulpot ang kambal.
"pumayag ka na, ate!?"
"ate, bakit!?"
imbis na pansinin ang kambal, tinapunan niya ng masamang tingin si rintarou na may nakaiiritang ngisi, ngunit namumungay ang mata, kumikinang pa.
ngumiti siya nang matamis, inalis niya ang kanang kamay mula sa ilalim at hinaplos ang pisngi nito. "kung bastedin kaya kita ngayon na?"
ang ngisi nito kanina ay napalitan ng simangot. hindi nito inalis ang kamay sa kaniya. "fine, you won again."
"kapag sinagot kita, ikaw naman panalo." kumindat siya. "ako bahala sa'yo."

what a weekend
i did some trainings at work, which is surprisingly i am at ease. i didn’t feel like i’m catching up too much to finish because i have my bi to nag while i pause.
i woke up last saturday in a rainy day with a complete meal to enjoy with my bi. after that, we went to bed to continue my trainings while he slept waiting for the rain to stop and go back to work which did not happen so i got to spend the day with him. i was craving so by the time dinner came, he asked me to go downstairs and enjoy my requested dinner which is perfect for a gloomy sky, meat loaf and spicy lucky me beef 😋 then we went to bed early and enjoy cuddling due to the weather.
i woke up last sunday with the same weather, i went to the terrace to enjoy the beautiful disaster and he called me to eat the lunch he prepared, a delicious sisig! i was astonished on how good his cooking is, always. he really loves to cook. then i go back to my laptop to continue some trainings. pause. look for bi, see him washing his motor and nag him for a little bit. go back to training. pause. see him doing the laundry, nag him and laugh like little kids. trainings. stopped because we went to bed early to enjoy our time and to hang the finished laundry then spent the rest of the day cuddling again since it is cuddle weatherrrrrr. by dinner, he cooked again, fried lechon skin, fish steak, sisig, and fried egg. he knew i will not eat any seafood lol, then we watched Bridgerton season 3 all night. he is not really into watching these english movies/series with me but makes sure he is there in case i need him. so he feel asleep in the couch, i asked him to go to his room and i will follow after watching but answered “ayaw, gusto kita kasama matulog” no matter how many times i asked him to.
“hindi mo ba kaya matulog mag-isa?!”
“hindi. dito lang ako. baka matagal pa yan eh, tapos dito ka nanaman makakatulog sa sala, wala akong kayakap.”
“napakaplastik mo, di ka naman talaga nayakap sakin pag tulog”
then we laughed 😂
he is so bored that he said “okay. mag-aalarm ako, iccheck kita dito sa baba.” but the next thing i heard, the blender is making noises in the kitchen. he went back with an avocado shake he made and asked me to taste it.
i enjoyed watching while drinking the avocado shake he made 🤪 then he eventually fell asleep and snored the whole night while i was watching hahahahahahahaha di ko alam kung matutuwa ako o maiinis.
this morning, he went to work, kissed me goodbye and went back home to wake me up by 12 with a lunch he prepared for us. after that, he goes back to work again. and i will have to go to work as well.
can i say how lucky i am? or is it already obvious? damn.

Hindi ko na pinicture-an isa isa kasi gutom na kami e tapos kasama din parents kaya para makakain nalang din agad, isang buo nalang pang memories. Sulit naman sa tingin ko, ang dami namin na-order at may take-out pa tapos apat kami pero hindi naman sobrang mahal. Sobrang pwede na! Di ko lang masyado bet ang Lechon Macau dito, tapos parang masyadong maalat (?) yung Fish Fillet with Tofu. Yung Fresh Prawn Dumpling, Siomai, at Yang Chow Fried Rice saraaaap. Gusto ko sana mag noodles kaso baka kasi di na maubos dahil hindi naman na madami kumain sila mommy at daddy.

Loving
our little get-together last sunday! group of six turned into eight, then ten. buffet dinner kami sa rocky's kasi may lechon kawali + bar na siya, so direcho na for happy hour. we ate, drank, laughed, danced, sang all night! the longest time i've been inside a loud establishment. so many firsts with this one. i love the fact that i'm experiencing so many first with this one <3 ang saya lang din ng bonding with her friends + new friends. it's nice to unwind. tumatanda na kami. pero ang saya :)
Feeling
happy & contented. contentment! sabi 'yan sa homily nung nagsimba kami last sunday. you need contentment in your life (+pansit daw for long life. hahaha) be happy with what you have. i couldn't ask for more ;)
loved din.. sa mga simpleng bagay na simple lang sa iba, pero grabe ung impact for me. for someone so clumsy, sanay na akong pinapagalitan. kaya pag ang messy ko or what, hinahanda ko na ung galit niya. lol. pero more on concern naman sa part niya. baka madumihan ako, or mapaso, or masaktan. hayst. kilig ako. luh? :))

Dear God,
Thankful and blessed today. I woke up at 9AM plus. I drank my vitamins. I scrolled my social media accounts, chatted my family and friends. I ate nilagang baka and rice, biscocho for breakfast. I had chit chats with my family. I played cooking fever. I removed white hair of Ate Cheena. We fetched Rachell at the train station and me and Ate Cheena just walked going to the train station. I saw the town center of Dorchester. It was raining and cold. We were able to met Rachel and Kuya Mark fetch us and drive going to our Air BNB safely. Me, Mama and Rachell talked a lot. We also had a make up trial for Mama. It was a bit challenging for me. I also helped Ate Cheena prepared the food for our dinner. I also met Ate Cheena’s workmates. We had little chit chats. Dinner is served which is Spaghetti, roasted potato, rice, Bulalo, lechon belly, watermelon and banana. I ate lechon belly, spaghetti, roasted potato, drank a coke and I was full after. I cared Mama because of her allergic reaction. She coughed,felt cold on the weather. Please heal Mama Oh God. We assisted on giving her medicines. I helped Ate do the cleaning of the dishes and kitchen. Thanked God for the dishwasher machine. I drank green tea. I drank my medicines. I read few pages of the Bible. Have mercy on us Oh God. Guide us always to the right path. Remove sickness, danger and negative things in our life. Answer our prayers in your perfect time. Thank you and I love you God.

My entire family loves dining at Guevarra's in San Juan City. It's always a family affair. When we want to celebrate a special occasion, or just want to get together in Metro Manila, this buffet restaurant is always on top of the list.
Then, the pandemic hit. Dining in, especially buffets, became obsolete during the lockdown. Businesses tried to cope by shifting to deliveries. Some barely managed to stay afloat, some unfortunately had to close, while some thrived in the delivery world.
Guevarra's kept on doing what they do best: Making good food for everyone. They offered their usual buffet favorites for delivery, like their Pork Bellychon, Angus Beef Tapa (our all-time fave!), Beef Kare-Kare, Pancit Palabok, and Beef Kaldereta, in various sizes. They even have their own delivery riders for convenience.

As the lockdown stretched to almost two years, the people behind Guevarra's kept moving with the times, adapting to the public's needs and wants. Aside from their buffet best-sellers, they created their own version of food trends, like Lechon Angus Baka (ridiculously tender and flavorful angus beef, best enjoyed with the sweet-savory sauce). If you're eating it at home, you can enjoy it the fool-proof way with some garlic rice or go a little rogue and turn it into the best burger you'll ever make at home.

As restrictions eased, dining in slowly returned to pre-pandemic normalcy. Guevarra's decided to give us more reasons to literally get up in the morning, even on weekends. They recently started offering Breakfast Buffet on Sundays featuring morning staples, from cereals to crispy bacon to Pinoy almusal classics like Champorado, Arroz Caldo. They also put their own twist on Western faves, like Chicken & Waffles, but instead of fried chicken, you get chicken adobo. I know, it sounds weird, but trust me on this: the sweet and slightly crisp waffle (with their whipped butter and maple syrup) goes so well with the garlicky savoriness of adobo.

And for someone who hates bell peppers, this dish is making a compelling argument for 'em. Another personal favorite from Guevarra's line-up is their Spaghetti Marinara with Meatballs. Definitely different from sweet Pinoy spaghetti, the sauce is a bit more sour and tempered by the saltiness of the parmesan cheese and the savory meatballs. Pro-Tip: If you're ordering at home, keep it in the fridge because it's even better the next day (if you can keep yourself from eating all of it).
There are so many reasons to love Guevarra's, but there's nothing like their sweet selections to keep you coming back for more. his graduation week

pre-commencement nila. so satisfying sa part na it's his turn sa stage tapos pagtawag sa name niya kay gitugtugan siya sa KE. i luv hehe. slept at their house and sabay nagpunta pa msu. i took him pictures, us too. very good na baya 'yan siya kay kabalo na magposing if magpicture kami dalawa ta's kabalo na pud magpicture sa akua. baka trained bf yarn. tapos pauwi kami, nag eat kami nila tita sa Lechon Hauz sa SM. busog kaayo. gibigyan niya rin ako bouquet na may teddy bearr. pambawi raw kay wala siyang bigay sa akin nung graduation q. thankful always.

naghabol lang ako nito kay galing pa ojt. tapos gi bilhan ko siya flowers tapos kapretty ng pic namin. ginakamahayan ko talaga ba kay wala ako nanood sa tugtog nila. messed up so bad ma sad parin ako sige isip hanggang ngayon. galibot man gud kami nila shk gahanap kay shz habang gatugtog sila. nalain gud siya ato. bulok kayko promise. unta maturn back ang time kay magwatch ko, magvideo-video ko, magsupport. malagot ko sa akong sarili sige isip yawa.
anyways, after nun kay nag eat kami sa Gryks. very fancy restaurant and affordable food. took pictures rin doon, the place was so fancy dyud. the next day kay gikuha ko na ang bento cake na gi-order ko tapos gisurprise siya pag gising niya ahahhaha. nag takas lang gud ako nun, gipahatid ako ni tita kay kuya niya (ulaw but thankful) tapos ayun.
nice kaayo nag photos namo sa phone ni ate A ba wtf. kaganda ng Iphone 14 goddamn. ang fireworks pic kay very wow. spend the weekends rin sa kanila. typing this now kay masad ako i have to go home kay mag ojt pa and i can't tell his parents kay maulaw ko. mao lang. so happy for my bana he graduated na. no more studying (until nov kay mag review na siya sa Cebu) na and he got all the time in the world. i love him so much and i hope he knows.

So I had excess lechon baka from last Saturday, and I have bitter melon lying around in my fridge. And I decided to make some stir fry today. Had to take off the excess oil because didn’t know the baka was that oily.
Also, I managed to take out most of the bitterness of the bitter melon, which is a win-win. Really tasty, this one is

Side note: I remember before when I was younger and if Mama would cook ampalaya with eggs, I hated it, because she refused to do something about the bitterness. It’s just not me, but my brothers too

Alas-kwatro ng umaga, sa oras na ito ay naka takda kaming lumipad papuntang Cebu sa tulong ng Cebu Pacific Airline. Dito ay nagkaroon ako ng halong emosyon sapagkat ito ang pinaka-una kong beses na sasakay ng eroplano at kasabay ang kaba na baka hindi maayos ang takbo ng biyahe. Ako ay biglang nagising nang may kumalabog sa aking upuan, kami ay nakalapag na sa palapagan, ako'y nadismaya sapagkat hindi maganda ang pagpapalapag ng kapitan sa punto na naririnig ko ang reklamo ng aking pamilya. Bukod dito, ang aking unang karanasan sa pagsakay ng eroplano ay hindi malilimutang ala-ala.

Makalipas ang ilang oras, mga alas-otso ng umaga, kami ay nagtungo sa una naming destinasyon, ito ay ang Sirao Garden. Pagpasok ko pa lamang ay namangha ako sa dami at ganda ng mga tanawin dito at hindi ko maiwasan na tumitig dito. Dagdag pa rito ay puno ng mga makulay na bulaklak, luntiang mga taniman.. Alas-onse ng tanghali, kami ay tiyak na pagod at gutom na sa unang araw namin sa Cebu at napagdesisyunan naming kumain ng tanghalian sa House of Lechon. Ang kainan na ito ay isa sa pinaka-sikat sa lungsod na ito sapagkat ang lechon o roasted pig sa ingles ay nagmula sa lungsod na ito. Dagdag pa rito, sa House of Lechon, maaari kang mag-enjoy ng mga iba't ibang bersyon ng lechon, kabilang ang tradisyonal na "boneless" na lechon, "spicy" na lechon, at iba pa. Bukod sa lechon, nag-aalok din sila ng iba't ibang mga lutuin ng Cebuano at mga lokal na pagkaing dagat. Ang lugar na ito ay kilala sa pakikipag-interak sa mga balyena. Sa aking paglutang sa karagatan, aking naamoy ang tapang ng alamang sa dagat na ipinapakain sa mga balyena. Sa katapangan ko ay sinubukan kong hawakan ang isa sa mga balyena at masasabi ko na mababait naman ang mga ito sapagkat hindi sila umaatake. Napaka-alat ng tubig dito sa punto na hindi ka lulubog kapag inalis ang life vest.

Kami ay nabitin sa tubig kaya naman ay dumako kami sa Tumalog Waterfalls sa aming pangalawang destinasyon. Ito ay kilala sa kanyang malambot na pagbuhos ng tubig na bumubuo ng isang pitong metro na talon. Ang tubig dito ay nagmumula mula sa kabundukan at bumabagsak sa isang natural na batuhan, na lumilikha ng isang kaaya-ayang tanawin. Aking nasaksihan ang matabang pagbuhos ng tubig ay bumubuo ng mistulang tabing na bumabalot sa buong lugar, na nagbibigay ng isang kahanga-hangang atmospera na nakapag-pabuhay ng aking kasiyahan.

Sumunod ang pinaka-hindi malilimutang lugar na aming napuntahan, ang University of San Carlos. Ito ay hindi lamang isang lugar o unibersidad, isa itong mabuting ala-ala para sa aking ama. Sa paglipas ng mahabang panahon, partikular, mahigit na 20 taon ay muling nakabalik ang aking ama sa kaniyang unibersidad na kaniyang minahal sa panahon niya rito. 20 Filipino dishes with Filipino names that I came up with that may not have been done before. I've included some traditional Filipino ingredients, as well as some unique twists and combinations:
1. Sinigang na Pata ng Baka sa Mangga - Beef shank and unripe mango in a sour tamarind soup
2. Adobong Bicol Express - Pork belly cooked in coconut milk and spicy Bicol Express sauce
3. Kare-Kareng Adobo - Stewed pork and beef in a peanut and soy sauce base
4. Sinuglaw na Tuna Belly - Grilled tuna belly with vinegar and calamansi ceviche
5. Ginataang Pugo sa Pakwan - Quail cooked in coconut milk and watermelon juice
6. Lumpiang Adobo Flakes - Fried spring rolls filled with shredded adobo flakes and vegetables
7. Ginisang Monggo sa Aligue - Mung beans cooked with crab fat and vegetables
8. Kalderetang Baka sa Mantikilya ng Saging - Beef stewed in banana butter and tomato sauce
9. Pininyahang Adobo sa Gata - Adobo chicken cooked in pineapple and coconut milk
10. Bistek na Lechon - Pork belly marinated in soy sauce and calamansi, served with onions and gravy
11. Sinanglay na Tulingan sa Buko - Grilled mackerel cooked in coconut cream and taro leaves
12. Ginataang Adobong Pusit - Squid cooked in adobo sauce and coconut milk
13. Balut Kare-Kare - Stewed balut eggs in a peanut and shrimp paste sauce
14. Adobong Laing sa Gata - Taro leaves and pork cooked in adobo sauce and coconut milk
15. Tinolang Baka sa Sari-Sari - Beef soup with mixed vegetables and spices
16. Ginataang Hipon sa Kamias - Shrimp cooked in coconut milk and bilimbi fruit
17. Adobong Karela - Bitter melon cooked in adobo sauce with pork or chicken
18. Sisig na Tenga ng Baboy sa Pinya - Grilled pig ears cooked in pineapple and chili sauce
19. Pinakbet Lumpia - Fried spring rolls filled with mixed vegetables cooked in pinakbet sauce
20. Adobong Bistek - Beef marinated in adobo sauce and soy sauce, served with onions and garlic
Note: Some of the ingredients mentioned may not be readily available in certain regions. It's important to make sure that all ingredients are fresh and safe to consume.
