“Nonoo” questa mattina sei venuto a mancare e dopo aver lottato per altri tre mesi, anche se in ospedale ti avevano dato pochi giorni, ininterrottamente non hai mai mollato quel filo sottile che divide la vita dalla morte; anche contro le tue volontà a testa alta col tuo carattere (in cui non mi rispecchiavo) sei riuscito a tenerti vivo, ahimè, purtroppo, la morte vince si tutto, non ha pietà.

Fin da piccolo il tuo sogno era di vedermi guidare, cosa che se pur col tempo ho saputo apprezzare non ho mai amato fare come te, prima che l’infarto ti colpisse definitivamente ti avevo fatto una promessa, di portarti a vedere un gran premio di formula uno, da noi tanto amata, questo seppur per evidenti problemi economici non mi avrebbe mai impedito di non farlo, però non avresti avuto le forze, anche se immagino che ti saresti commosso, anche se una persona come te era difficile vederla piangere.

Abbiamo avuto periodi in cui ci costruivamo mentalmente dei muri invisibili e proprio per la differenza del nostro carattere questo ci ha ferito entrambi, fuori sicuramente eravamo orgogliosi ma il problema poi è sempre dentro, quel peso che a lungo andare ti consuma fino a trasformalo in malattia.

Col senno di poi siamo bravi tutti, tu hai le tue responsabilità e io le mie, non esistono santi, nessuno di noi due ha vinto o perso, nonostante abbiamo sofferto, ci siamo riavvicinati pian piano, con più fiducia e lo abbiamo fatto raccontandoci la mia, la nostra infanzia, nostra perchè alla fine hai passato davvero tanti anni assieme a me quando ero piccolo, io non dimentico i tuoi errori nonno, ma nemmeno il bene che mi hai fatto, la tua immensa disponibilità per me e la mamma quando aveva bisogno di essere portata per lunghi anni su e giù in ospedale, sappi che queste cose rimarranno impresse nella mia testa, perché col tempo, forse crescendo, anche se ancora mi vedo, sai, un po’ bambino, quel Mattia che era il tuo idolo, che doveva essere il migliore di tutti, ma che in realtà voleva solo essere come tutti, e che quei tutti avessero il mio stesso cuore, quella bontà che col tempo è pian piano svanita.

Chi si dimentica di tutta quella gente che ci Incontrava in bici la mattina presto?

La tua felicità negli occhi, nel vedere come tutti si fermassero a guardarmi, a parlarmi e a sottolineare il fatto che il sorriso non mi mancasse mai.

Si andava a prendere il pane, ne volevo subito un pezzo, ci fermavamo a vedere tutti i cani della via con la speranza che rispondessero alle mie parole, e restavo lì convinto fino a quando sentivo abbaiare e tu mi davi conferma delle loro risposte.

Che periodi, cercavo sempre mia mamma, purtroppo per via del lavoro per me era come stesse via intere settimane ma in realtà così non era, però tu ben sapevi quanto io sia legato a mamma, e tranquillo ricorderò sempre quanto anche tu lo fossi, anche se spesso avevi qualcosa da ridere per via del tuo carattere ricorderò le tue ultime parole: “La mamma è la donna più intelligente che ho conosciuto, fin troppo buona e disponibile per tutti, voglio che lei lo sappia”.

Potrei scrivere un libro, non un poema su ciò che abbiamo vissuto insieme, sei stato la mia infanzia, il mio periodo preferito, lo rivivrei mille volte, nonostante il tuo modo di essere, ma chi sono io per giudicare? Certo, quello che penso lo dico, come hai sempre fatto tu, ma allo stesso tempo non mi nasconderò mai come non giudicherò mai!

Ora stai vicino alla nonna, e assieme fatemi il regalo più grande, che non sono i soldi, non sono una vita di successi, ma la speranza di vedere vostra figlia, mia mamma, stare un po’ meglio.

Solo questo.

Il pensiero rimbomberà sempre nella mia testa, fra cose belle e cose brutte, ma per vivere di questi tempi, bisogna affidarsi solo all’amore, lo sai nonno no?

Quella piccola parte di odio che io ho sempre avuto verso la mia generazione, e tu, verso chi ben sapevi, era molto simile, però se fossi qui so che con un sorriso, e magari una lacrima, diresti: “Qua te ghe rason”.

Mi hanno detto che nessuno canta la parola "fame" e la parola "amore" come le canto io. Forse è perché so cosa han voluto dire queste parole per me, e quanto mi sono costate . Forse è perché son così orgogliosa da volere per forza ricordare Baltimora e Welfare Island, l'istituto cattolico e il tribunale di Jefferson Market, lo sceriffo davanti al ritrovo nostro di Harem, e le città sulla costa da un oceano all'altro dove ho preso le mie batoste e le mie fregature, Filadelfia e Alderson, San Francisco e Hollywood; ricordare metro per metro ogni dannato pezzo di tutto questo. La storia di Billie Holiday è roba da racconti di Charles Dickens. Una infanzia disgraziata e di stenti con la madre che si arrabatta a far di tutto, pure la puttana per mangiare. Un quarantenne che la violenta a undici anni. Una zia sadica e fuori di testa di cui è vittima. Il misero collegio dove passa gli anni dell'adolescenza. Pochi motivi per essere allegra. Le cose cambiano, apparentemente in meglio, quando la sua meravigliosa voce diventa nota, prima nei piccoli ambienti jazz poi sempre a più persone. Nasce così Lady Day. Nasce così Lady sings the blues. Ma la fama non lenisce ciò che è stato, e allora per resistere e campare ci vogliono droghe e alcool e amori tutti sbagliati. Lei ne e' consapevole, ma, dice: "Sono stufa di passare le notti sola con i miei cani in albergo, dopo un concerto". O peggio "risvegliarmi ogni mattina accanto a un uomo diverso". Quando il 17 luglio 1949 si spegne ha solo 44 anni. Dirà Miles Davis: "Era una donna molto dolce, molto calda; sembrava un'indiana con la pelle vellutata, marrone chiaro. Era una donna splendida prima che l'alcool e la droga la distruggessero. Ogni volta che mi capitava di incontrarla le chiedevo di cantare "I Loves you, Porgy", perché ogni volta che lei cantava "non lasciare che mi tocchi con le sue mani calde" potevi praticamente sentire quello che sentiva lei. Il modo in cui la cantava era magnifico e triste. Tutti quanti amavano Billie".

Ma tutti quanti l'hanno sempre lasciata sola.

Storia Di Musica #307 - Edizione Speciale Natale 2023 - Dylaniati Vol.1

Per queste due ultime storie musicali del 2023 ho voluto giocare un po', sempre però partendo dal disco del mese, Bringing It All Back Home di Bob Dylan. Pochi dischi sono stati più seminali, nel vero senso del termine: non si parla solo di successo commerciale, questione che con Dylan è sempre stata relativa (per dirne una, ha più numeri 1 in Gran Bretagna che negli Stati Uniti), ma di una fondamentale spinta creativa e di ispirazione, che dura da 6 decenni. Dylaniato è il titolo che Tito Schipa Jr diede ad una sua compilation di riletture di classici dylaniani, nel 1987. Il titolo mi è sempre piaciuto, e lo userò per una carrellata di omaggi al menestrello di Duluth, che insieme ai Beatles è l'artista più coverizzato di sempre.

Isabella Lundgren è una giovane e talentuosissima jazzista svedese, che nel 2019 prende in prestito l'iconica copertina, cambiandone dei particolari: lei è insieme ai suoi musicisti, Dylan era con la moglie del suo manager Grossman, i dischi sul tappeto riprendono l'idea della copertina originale, tra le scelte dell'artista svedese spicca Kind Of Blue di Miles Davis. Lundgren sceglie alcuni capolavori della discografia di Dylan e li riarrangia con stile, accompagnata dalla sua voce calda e bellissima: spiccano una versione riuscitissima di The Times They Are A-Changin' (sempre dolorosamente attualissima) e una Forever Young dolcissima; il titolo non è una canzone di Dylan ma una nuova canzone scritta da Brian Kramer, cantautore newyorkese.

La musica di Bob Dylan è stata a lungo molto apprezzata in Giamaica (i Wailers registrarono una strana, inquietante versione di Like A Rolling Stone già nel 1966), e data la sorprendente elasticità mutevole delle sue canzoni (e l'altrettanto elastica adattabilità delle sue canzoni ai ritmi reggae), ecco a voi un disco celebrativo in stile reggae delle sue composizioni: sebbene suonino stranissime, alcune canzoni acquistano significati ancora più profondi, come Toots Hibbert che a Maggie's Farm conferisce un'ulteriore intensità in ricordo dei canti per far rimanere glis chiavi nelle piantagioni a lavorare, ma è notevole anche la Mr. Tambourine Man interpretata dal grande Gregory Isaacs. Del disco esiste anche un Volume 2, questo:

dove le stesse canzoni sono remixate in dub style.

Ma uno dei più recenti, siamo nel 2010, e interessanti omaggi al genio è questo, che si intitola Subterrean Homesick Blues: A Tribute to Bob Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home, dove alcuni dei più interessanti cantanti e musicisti della scena indie rock americana rilegge i classici immortali di questo disco, avvicinando ai capolavori originali l'ennesima generazioni di giovani. La compilation presenta le cover di artisti come The Morning Benders, Peter Moren del gruppo Peter Bjorn And John, i Castanets (con una versione originalissima di Maggie's Farm), Asobi Seksu, Mirah, o The Helio Sequence che rifanno con delicatezza Mr Tambourine Man. Tra le canzoni, anche alcune outtakes che uscirono nella leggendaria prima uscita delle Bootleg Series (The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991, un disco fatto di "canzoni scartate" che sono tutti dei gioielli assoluti). Tra le curiosità, la versione di una di queste, If You Gotta Go, Go Now, reinterpretata da Josh Tillman, che fa parte dei bravissimi Fleet Foxes, grazie al fatto che venne usata in una serie TV, divenne una piccola hit.

O capítulo 7 do livro de Atos vai nos relatar o que aconteceu com Estevão, que foi escolhido para ajudar na obra. E foi acusado de blasfemar contra a lei de Moisés. E Estevão fez uma retrospectiva desde os tempos de Abraão, Isaque, Jacó, José, Moisés, Davi e Salomão, mostrando o como Deus foi Fiel mesmo o povo sendo incrédulo e resistindo ao Espírito Santo. Estevão falou que Deus não habitava em templos feitos pela mãos de homens. Mas em corações, sinceros e dispostos a obedecer.

E o povo ouvindo aquilo se enfureceu, mas a bíblia vai dizer que Estevão sendo cheio do Espírito Santo, fixou os olhos no Céu e viu a Glória de Deus. E Jesus a direita do Pai e relatou isso ao povo

Então o expulsaram da cidade e o apedrejaram!!

Que possamos refletir no quanto esse história serve de testemunho e exemplo pras nossas vidas. Mesmo sabendo que estava correndo o risco de morte, Estevão pregou e falou de Deus e da sua Palavra até o fim!

Esse é o verdadeiro evangelho, sofrer por amor a Deus. Não se importando com as coisas terrenas, mas pregando a verdadeira palavra sabendo que pessoas se virarão contra ti, pessoas irão o acusar, o abandonar, mas que Recompensa Maior ainda Iremos receber quando Jesus vier nos buscar. 🙏🏻✝️

JESUS CHRIST ADVENTURE 02 THE BEGINNING WAS SO FCKING GOOD!!! ALL THE LITTLE REFERENCES TO THE ORIGINAL SERIES AND FILMS!!! I saw it in theaters and its a limited thing here in the US, one showing for the dub and one for the sub (i saw the dub) and I got promo cards! 6 packs, 3 cards each! It also got pretty dark with the new character Rei (lei in the dub, pronounced “lewey”)

It surprised me that he had a dub specific name bc in tri the new characters didnt. Also they retconned tri with something that i wont tell bc its a spoiler. Tri was kinda bad anyway so its fine, tri was too anime for me tbh

Cody's and Armdillomon's voice actors are SO different. Armdillomon has a high-pitched squeaky kinda voice instead of his deep voice like 02. Cody's is deeper and not as soft and it might even be a different va compared to last evo, I liked his voice in last evo iirc. I don't think TK's changed and if it did then I like the new guy, it sounds like TK but older. I saw in another post that they apparently couldn't afford Kari's VA, idk if that's sub or dub though. Couldn't really tell with Kari. Davis's and Veemon's didn't change as to my hearing. Yolei's defo did and it doesn't really sound like her... :( Ik 02 is 20 years old but they usually get like Joshua Seth and the others original VAs.

Mora numa van porque acha perda de tempo procurar um apartamento pra morar, sendo que elu passa a maior parte do tempo na oficina, numa sala de aula ou no laboratório da escola, tentando provar sua teoria.

Another busy day for combat sports, though YMMV on how interesting you find some of it.

First, Shavkat Rakhimov vs Joe Cordina over on DAZN. Cordina is coming off a KOTY in 2022 when he smoked Kenichi Ogawa and Rakhmov is coming off finally winning the title. Should be a good fight. Plus it has Sandy Ryan vs Marie-Pier Houle for the WBO welterweight title that was recent vacated. Big fight for women’s boxing.

UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Pavlovich is what it is. I don’t find the main event as compelling as other people seem to but it’s still a fight between two heavyweights that should propel one to a title fight. So it has contendership going for it. Rest of the card is the rest of the card, though interesting fighters like Bobby Green, Iasmin Lucindo, Montel Jackson, etc are peppered in here and there.

Tank Davis vs Ryan Garcia is finally happening. Biggest fight in boxing. Yadda yadda yadda. Should be fun while it last. If you’re tuning in, be sure to check out the David Morrell fight. That man is going to be a PROBLEM at super middleweight.

Bellator 295 sadly lost a great fight in Horiguchi-Borg but the main event between Raufeon Stots and Patchy Mix is my best MMA fight of the weekend. Great style match up and it’s the finals of the Bellator BW Grand Prix for $1 million. Don’t get much bigger stakes than that. Card also features Ilima-Lei MacFarlane against Kana Watanabe, Aaron Pico, Sumiko Inaba, Mads Burnell, and more.

Boozle's Top Ten Movies 2023

So, this was another list in my 2023 review that was super difficult to put together. According to my Letterboxd 2023 list, I watched 178 new movies this year. (Looking at all the dramas and movies I've watched, I honestly do not know where I found the time to consume so much content?! Working from home has its plus side, I guess?)

So, it's been a bit difficult to narrow my list of favourites down, but this is what I ended up with...

(i) Barabarian (2022, Dir. Zch Cregger) This film was NOTHING like what I thought it was going to be. Split into three tales that merge together to tell the story of one house and it's history, this movie managed to surprise me and be unpredictable at each turn.

(ii) The Outlaws (2017, Dir. Kang Yun-sung) This is the first movie in The Roundup series (the fourth movie is due out in 2024) and I have to say this is my favourite Korean action franchise. Ma Dong Seok is perfect, and the action sequences are mind blowing. It has the perfect balance of crime, action and comedy, and is a definite recommendation if you're looking for a good Asian crime movie.

(iii) Evil Dead Rise (2023, Dir. Lee Cronin) I absolutely love the Evil Dead franchise, and I had initially been a little wary at this sequel due to the fact they were taking the deadite insanity into an apartment block instead of the usual little cottage in the woods. I am so glad I was wrong, because this movie was probably the best horror to come out of 2023. The cast were amazing (Morgan Davies was a stand out) and it managed to feel like an Evil Dead film but with a fresh perspective.

(iv) Dark Harvest (2023, Dir. David Slade) Okay, I couldn't find a gif from the movie so y'all will have to make do with this still image. Now, I fully expected Dark Harvest to be a lame b-movie with terrible effects and a lame storyline, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It managed to keep me captivated, and it was extremely aesthetically pleasing. I'd love a sequel with Emily returning to town.

(v) Five Nights at Freddy's (2023, Dir. Emma Tammi) Gosh, I was so happy when I enjoyed this! I am a huge FNAF fan (though for a while I kept it on the downlow due to Cawthon's support of Trump/the Republican party) and I adore the lore, as wild and complicated as it is. The movie really managed to keep me captivated, and kept me guessing, whilst still staying true to the original canon. I cannot wait for the second installment.

(vi) Guns Akimbo (2019, Dir. Jason Lei Howden) This was a wild and fantastic film. I love watching Daniel Radcliffe get further and further away from the HP movies and prove that he's a great actor. Also, I just love Samara Weaving.

(vii) The Meg 2: The Trench (2023, Ben Wheatley) Yeah, I'm surprised to see this on my list, too. This movie was just so much fun. That's all. The effects were great, the acting was pretty good, and I just like watching sharks take out humans. IF YOU DON'T WANT EATEN BY A SEA CREATURE, STAY OUT OF THE SEA.

(viii) Ichi the Killer (2001, Dir. Takashi Miike) I don't know why it took me over 20 years to finally watch this classic, but I ended up thoroughly enjoying it! The acting was insane, the story was batshit crazy, and the effects were fantastic. I'd expect nothing less from Takashi Miike, tbh.

(ix) Salo, or 120 Days of Sodom (1975, Dir. Pier Paolo Pasolini) Okay, hear me out - was this one of my favourite movies of the year? No, it really wasn't. However, it's the movie that has probably left the biggest scar on my mental psyche of the year, therefore I had to include it. I've been fascinated by Marquis De Sade ever since I saw Quills years ago, but I never watched this movie because I knew it would do something to my brain. If you've seen the movie (or even read the book), I'm sure you understand what I mean when I saw one chapter in particular REALLY fucked me up to the point I couldn't eat chocolate for quite some time afterwards, and I struggle to not throw up when cleaning my cat's litter box these days. It takes a lot for a movie to scar me in a way that makes it pop into my mind every now and then, and this movie did that. However, I'd like to add that the point of the film isn't just to shock, but I am terrible at witing coherent analysis. If you haven't seen this movie, I would suggest doing a little research before watching, just to make sure you can handle it; it is full of triggers that I don't even want to mention because I'll probably get blacklisted. But yes. Whilst it may not be a favourite of the year, it sure left a huge impact on me.

(x) Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022, Dir. Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan) I think everyone loves this movie, but I was surprised at how much I loved it! The whole message of the movie is just so brutal and honest, and whilst I know that it's probably people of Asian heritage that can relate to it the most, I feel like we all can find something in the relationships that we can relate to. The cast were fantastic and I'm so glad to see Ke Huy Quan on screen again! Heartwarming, sad, and absolutely hilarious.

The White Horse, a large turf-cut figure on the hillside at Uffington in Berkshire, is an evocation of Epona, the Celtic Horse-Goddess. Dragon Hill nearby was a Neolithic first-fruits ceremonial site; folklore tells that the white sterile patch on its summit was caused by the execution of the lifegiving Dragon Goddess at the hands of a patriarchal solar-hero. Where her blood fell, nothing will grow.

One such dragon-slayer, or serpent-killing "hero," is St. Michael. Many of the earliest Christian churches in Britain, dedicated to St. Michael, were built precisely on the ancient mounds and high-places of the Great Goddess. In Christian lore, St. Michael was the head chief of a band of angels (read “patriarchal invaders”) that went to war with the Mother Dragon and her people. In folklore, St. Michael is thought to be the successor of Wotan, the Anglo-Saxon god who was a warlike slayer of dragons. In fact, an abnormal number of Christian churches dedicated to St. Michael and St. George, the other British dragon-slayer, are built on high places along the ley-line (or dragon path) that runs from Land's End in Cornwall through the Goddess monuments at Glastonbury and Avebury in southwest England.

Such a St. Michael's church was built on the summit of Glastonbury Tor! . . . but in the year 1300 A.D. it was destroyed by an earthquake. As Elizabeth G. Davis notes, all the Christian male angels were originally the Great Goddess, with her wings. When the image of the Winged Goddess "continued to be engraved on Roman coins, in defiance of the new Christian hierarchy in Constantinople"—who had smashed or taken over all her Roman temples—the Church fathers just changed her name to "the Angel of the Lord," Archangel Michael.
